''Captain America'' is ongoing comic from Creator/MarvelComics, written by Creator/JMichaelStraczynski with art by Jesus Saiz.

It is a relaunch of ''ComicBook/CaptainAmerica'' following the conclusion of Collin Kelly and Jackson Lanzing's ''ComicBook/CaptainAmericaSentinelOfLiberty''. It's also marks Straczynski's grand return to Marvel after exiting the House of Ideas in 2010 and Jesus Saiz's return to Captain America half a decade after ''ComicBook/CaptainAmericaSteveRogers'' in 2017.

!!''Captain America'' provides examples of:

* BadassBiker: The first issue has Steve doing this as usual (albeit riding his bike across roofs, through office buildings, and into the hungry maw of a giant wolf mecha).
* ContinuityNod: In issue #1, Steve's apartment still has a hole in the living room wall (which was damaged by A.I.M. during ''Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty'' #8).
* CruelMercy: Issue #6 reveals [[spoiler:this is why Asmoday didn't take his revenge against the younger Steve after he foiled the Madison Square Garden bombing back in the 1930s. Seeing how sickly Steve was, Asmoday knew he'd be dead in a matter of years. He thus wanted Steve to live so that he could suffer and die alone and forgotten by history. Ironically, of course, this backfired on the fallen Angel once Pearl Harbor happened, the United States entered WWII, and Steve was selected for Operation Rebirth.]]
* EarlyInstallmentCharacterDesignDifference: A variation with the new ''Captain America'' logo. A [[https://cdn.marvel.com/content/1x/capa2023001_dc11.jpg placeholder logo]] was used in the original June 2023 announcement and promo artwork. By the time of Comic-Con and the Official Trailer a month later, the current logo had been finalized.
* GraveMarkingScene: The first issue shows a montage of Steve visiting a graveside with his Mother throughout his formative years and then by himself (presumably after her passing).
* TheGreatDepression: The setting of the flashback sequences in the B-plot (as they're covering Steve's pre-Captain America years).
* HumongousMecha: The first issue has Steve fighting a giant wolf mecha on the side of an office building.
* InternalHomage: Michael Cho's [[https://cdn.marvel.com/content/2x/capa2023001_cho_avengers60.jpg Variant Cover]] is an homage to Bryan Hitch's famous cover for ''The Ultimates'' #1.
* OffhandBackhand: A variation in issue #1. A mugger draws a gun from behind Steve. He throws the shield behind him, hitting the mugger.
* RammingAlwaysWorks: In issue #1, Steve takes on the giant wolf mecha and its pilot by ramming his motorcycle directly into its cockpit.
* {{Roofhopping}}: The [[https://youtu.be/ZjQMm5fFh0Q Official Trailer]] shows Steve racing to the battle with the wolf mecha on motorcycle and by rooftop.
* ShownTheirWork: Steve receives aid from New York mobster, Meyer Lansky in dealing with the rising American Pro Nazi party “The Bund”. Mr Lanksy was indeed a real life mobster who made it [[https://nypost.com/2022/05/07/jewish-gangsters-once-took-on-nazis-in-the-streets-of-nyc/a habit of attacking The Bund]] during the late 1930s.
* TimeSkip: Going off the events of issue #1 (specifically how Steve's damaged apartment still hasn't been repaired after ''Sentinel Liberty''), it would appear only a short period of time has elapsed since Team Cap's final confrontation with the Outer Circle.
* VariantCover: Variant Covers are provided by Frank Miller, John Romita Jr., Humberto Ramos, Gary Frank, Michael Cho, and Olivier Coipel.
* WhyDontYouJustShootHim: [[spoiler:Asmoday's fateful mistake in the 1930s. He has a chance to kill the pre-sereum Steve Rogers -- who's injured and in the hospital -- and decides instead to leave Steve alive so that his poor health will do him in.]]
