'''Warning''': There is a MAJOR LateArrivalSpoiler that ends up shaping most of the story, and as such will not be spoiled out, in order to avoid whiting out the whole page. You have been warned.

[[folder:Main Villains]]
!!Jade Chan
Jackie Chan's niece, who is swept by Tarakudo's manipulations to become a new champion for the Dark half of the BalanceBetweenGoodAndEvil. And she indeed becomes not only the General of the newly created Gumo Khan, but also the new Queen and surrogate mother of the Jorōgumo race.
----
* ALighterShadeOfBlack: Ms. Hartman tells the Oni King that Jade is less evil than he is since her motivation is [[EvenEvilHasLovedOnes protecting her unborn eggs]], and in addition to being manipulated by Tarakudo, characters have noted that she’s not really as evil as she could be.
* AllergicToRoutine: Jade does ''not'' want a normal life. Regardless of what Jackie and everybody else wanted for her, she thrived during the team's globe-trotting adventures and despised the periods between were she would have to live like a regular girl. Her dissatisfaction with life after all the evils have been defeated has left her bored, depressed and ready to go over the tipping point. All of which Tarakudo takes advantage of after he loses it on Drew, giving her the option of going back home and returning to her hated normal life, or coming with him and never have to endure another day of routine normality ever again.
* AmazonianBeauty: After finishing her transformation into a Jorōgumo, Jade is taller than Tohru, apparently quite attractive in the human-looking areas, and a force to be reckoned with.
* BadGuysDoTheDirtyWork: [[spoiler: Before an enraged Tohru can cross the line by killing Leston, Jade does it for him.]]
* BerserkButton: Regarding her transformation like some sickness to be cured is a mild one. [[MamaBear Potentially harming her offspring, on the other hand, IS MUCH WORSE]].
** Also, calling her a victim will send her into such a rage that her fire will lash at you without her command.
** She also doesn't like the idea of being replaced.
* BlueAndOrangeMorality: Despite not being human anymore, Jade is trying to find a sense of right and wrong for her kind, essentially invoking a downplayed version of this trope.
* BreastExpansion: After Jade grows up into an adult, she has become more busty than her future self she encountered twice.
* [[DoNotCallMePaul Do Not Call Me Yu]]: Jade really doesn't like being called by her birth name, associating it with the time when she was a lonely nobody. A plot point hinges on [[WhosOnFirst the similarity between "Yu" and "You"]].
* DotingParent: She goes from hating her eggs to talking to them like she would talk to human babies, even calling them her "sweeties". She also treats her henchwomen more like little girls than grown women.
* DragonInChief: Towards Tarakudo, as he's still being sealed, needing Jade to do anything in the mortal world. Ms. Hartman points it out to Tarakudo in her TheReasonYouSuckSpeech to him, and Jade herself is starting to realize it.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Jade is genuinely motivated by a desire to protect her unborn eggs, and she still retains residual affection towards Jackie and the rest of the J-Team (and her parents). Ms. Hartman even tells Tarakudo that [[LampshadeHanging because Jade is motivated by love despite fighting for an evil cause, she's less evil than he is]].
* EvenEvilHasStandards: Jade, even after her LetsGetDangerous moment, still can't bring herself to harm her family (to Tarakudo's annoyance). On a smaller note, she also refuses to eat people's pets, preferring to do her hunting in the wild.
** She also doesn't feel comfortable when Tarakudo tells her to kill Chang when he refuses to join them. Not only does she convince Tarakudo to give him another chance to sign up, she even explicitly tells him that she won't enjoy killing him if he refuses again.
** Jade [[TheyJustDontGetIt can't understand why]] Widow is having so much trouble adjusting to her new form, but does genuinely seem to want to help her. She also apologizes for not being able to restore Widow's bad eye after Widow comes out of the cocoon.
** After Jumper attacks a perfume saleswoman who overwhelmed Jade with her wares, Jade takes her and runs before she can do anything more than stab her with her claws, and would have gone back and healed the saleswoman if she had time. The incident makes her decide that Jumper isn't anywhere ''near'' ready to be around people, glamour or not.
** After recruiting Nivor as the new Leech-khan General (which in itself is something she isn't exactly happy with), he expresses an interest in [[ImAHumanitarian eating the J-Team]]. Jade doesn't intend to let him do so, but doesn't say anything directly against it to keep him talking and give Jackie a chance to escape from him.
** When Tara tries to eat a Section 13 agent, Jade stops her and gives her a brutal telling off.
** She recognizes how crazed and evil [[spoiler:[[OmnicidalManiac Leston]]]] is, and they are the first person she hasn't had any problem trying to kill.
* ExtraEyes: Comes with being a spider. [[spoiler:They allow her to notice that Tara's up tp something]].
* FallenHeroine: A combination of dissatisfaction with life, manipulation by Tarakudo, just a push from AM and Other, and her Shadowkhan powers reawakening caused Jade to go to the dark side.
* FanArt: The author has drawn a picture of Jade after her transformation. It can be seen [[http://festum.deviantart.com/art/Queen-Jade-460256655 here]].
* FangsAreEvil: At one point of her slow transformation into a Gumo, she loses all her teeth, and they're replaced with venom fangs.
* FeelNoPain / NoSell: After everything painful she goes through in the Emptiness, Jade's pain threshold grows immensively. She's able to shrug off chi blasts, and even the traditional Oni weakness for [[WeaksauceWeakness onions]].
* FightingAShadow: To get around her pregnancy pains, Jade creates a spell that allows her to project her consciousness into one of her Gumo Khan. While it works for that though, it has the drawbacks of being less powerful, the arguable drawback of being smaller (though still bigger than a normal Gumo Khan, and Jade adapts to that rather well), and causing her other Gumo-khan to dissapear when "poofed".
* GenreSavvy:
** Is aware the J-Team will be looking for her in San Francisco, so she sets up a lair in Mexico with a portal to the city.
** She is aware [[spoiler:that Tara is plotting something, and is keeping an eye on her]].
** [[spoiler:After the squid essence is recovered, she points out how all the ones so far have gone to people that are either good, traitors who refuse to work with them, or incompetent, and decides to keep the squid essence contained until she can find a way to make sure it'll go to who she wants it to]].
* HealingFactor: When Chang cuts off one of Jade's appendages, [[MajorInjuryUnderreaction her only complaint is how much growing it back will itch]].
* TheHeart: Tarakudo refers to her former role in the J-Team as this.
* IJustWantToBeSpecial: Part of Jade's depression at the beginning of the story is due to having to go back to an ordinary life after the [[WesternAnimation/JackieChanAdventures show's]] GrandFinale meant that there were no more forces of evil left to fight. IT is able to use this depression as a stepping stone towards the RageBreakingPoint that reawakens her [[SuperpoweredEvilSide Shadowkhan side]], and Tarakudo uses her fear of going back to normal to control her.
* [[spoiler:InadequateInheritor: The Old Queen's spirit is disappointed with Jade clinging to the last traces of her human compassion, and seeks to replace her with Tarantula who wants to sever all her ties to humanity.]]
* InnocentFanserviceGirl: After spending eight years in the Emptiness without clothing, Jade has given up the taboo for nudity, using minimal amount of clothing only when in her glamoured form.
* LightningBruiser
* MamaBear: Towards her unborn young and somewhat towards her minions as well.
* MeaningfulRename: It's revealed that Jade's birth name is Yu, [[BilingualBonus meaning "jade" in Chinese]]. She changed it during the flight she had to come to live with her uncles in the first place, wanting to leave her boring life in Hong Kong behind.
* MeatgrinderSurgery: In order to begin her transformation into a spider demon, she needed to have [[spoiler: the Gumo queens egg sac implanted in her by cutting her open, moving around her insides and sticking it in before webbing up the wound waiting for it to heal closed as she transformed]]. No, it couldn't be done with magic. No, she couldn't have any pain relief barring a rock to bite down on. The scene was so graphic that the author placed warnings to help readers avoid the section.
* MetaMorphosis: As Uncle explains, Jade's transformation into a Jorōgumo is probably permanent, because her true form has been altered (unlike her past transformations when her form was simply disguised with magic), and because the longer such magic is effecting someone the harder it is to remove, and Jade has been effected by the oni magic for almost a decade in relative time.
* MoodSwinger: Part of Jade's mental instability is her ability to switch between rage and playful happiness in a heartbeat.
* NoSocialSkills: Her eight-years lasting isolation has left her social skills atrophied.
* PetTheDog: [[spoiler: Visits a drunk and despairing Tohru in the glamour of her child self in order to comfort him and give him some genuinely helpful advice.]]
* PregnantBadass: Jade becomes the future mother of hundreds of Jorōgumo soldiers. And thanks to the Old Queen's training, she's a very dangerous threat indeed.
** It's deconstructed a little in later chapters when [[spoiler: the time for her to lay her eggs draws near]]. She develops debilitating cramps which hamper her ability to even stand up straight, let alone fight. To resolve this, she uses a spell that allows her to [[FightingAShadow project her mind into a specially created Gumo Khan]].
* PlayingWithFire: When Jade becomes the new Gumo Queen after eight years, she learns to create green chi fire.
* PsychopathicWomanchild: Despite being 21 years old after returning from the Emptiness, Jade frequently acts like she's still a young pre-teen, or a child who's trying to act like she thinks adults act. The reason for this is her isolation in the Emptiness, with the two only other beings around who weren't trying to eat her being vastly older than her and having quite other plans for her than developing her social skills. This makes her all the more dangerous as her lack of maturity and mental instability means that she tends to let her emotions get the better of her and has ''terrible'' impulse control.
* RapidAging: Subverted. While it appears in the eyes of Jackie and others that she aged to adulthood in eight hours, she actually aged in real time in the Emptiness.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: After her transformation into an Oni, her eyes become fully red. And they remain so after her transformation into a Gumo is complete.
* ShipperOnDeck: Even after eight years, she still ships Jackie and Viper and is delighted when she assumes that Jackie is finally ademitting to his feelings when his attention turns towards Viper, who's in trouble during the fight.
* ShutUpHannibal: When discussing potential recruitment with Daolon Wong, he tries to impress Jade and Tarakudo by bragging about his accomplishments (binding three demon familiars, defeating Chi Master Fong, resurrecting Shendu and releasing dark chi from the idle of the Three Wise Monkeys). But Jade shoots him down by pointing out how they all turned into failures.
* SpiderPeople: During the course of eight years in [[EldritchLocation the Emptiness]], she turns [[SlowTransformation slowly]] and [[BodyHorror painfully]] into a Jorōgumo.
* SpikyHair: Literally. Jade's hair is now made up of hard yet still movable spikes.
* StockholmSyndrome: She has this towards Tarakudo and the Gumo Queen thanks to the eight years in the Emptiness.
* SuperSenses: Jade's senses are enhanced to the point that once she returns from the Emptiness, she finds the city sounds and smells nearly intolerable. This works against her when she walks into a cloud of perfume.
* SuperStrength: Jade becomes much stronger than Tohru. According to herself, she's strong enough to bench press a pick up truck.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: When arguing with Daolon Wong before he goes of to face Uncle, Jade tells him that Uncle is his superior no matter how more powerful Wong could be, because Uncle has more patience, resourcefulness and cleverness than Wong. And this is after [[ShutUpHannibal telling Wong of his shortcomings]].
* TransformationHorror: Her transformation into an Onigumo was slow, humiliating and above all painful. So much so that she had to be put into a coma for more than a year to keep her from losing her mind from the feeling of [[spoiler: her skin melting and her bones dissolving as she went from having a human endoskeleton to an insectoid exoskeleton.]]. What she's required to [[MeatgrinderSurgery go through]] to start the transformation is so horrendous that the author had to put warnings in bold text at the start and end of the section of the story showing it just so anybody who didn't want to could avoid reading it.
* TranshumanTreachery: As a result of her two separate transformations, eight years lasting isolation in the Emptiness and the manipulations of Tarakudo and the Old Gumo Queen, Jade is perfectly willing to fight against humanity to provide a future to her unborn kits. But she does have residual affection towards her human family, and it’s commented several times that she isn’t really that monstrous in personality.
* TrapMaster: Jade was taught by the Old Queen to be one of these, but she prefers fighting directly.
* VillainHasAPoint: [[spoiler:Her advice to Tohru is surprisingly deep]].
* VillainProtagonist
* WithUsOrAgainstUs: As Ms. Hartman realizes, Jade has adopted this mindset due to the J-Team seeming to draw the line first and the indoctrination by Tarakudo and the Old Queen.

* WorthIt: After the bulk of her long and painful transformation is done, Jade can't help but marvel at the results.
* [[ThatManIsDead "Yu's not coming back!"]]: She's determined to keep her old identity as Chan Yu permanently buried.

!!Tarakudo
Lord of all Oni, who was sealed away by Jade. He starts the plot by asking IT to give him a chance to reboost the Dark half's position in the BalanceBetweenGoodAndEvil by awakening the remnants of his chi inside Jade.
----
* BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor: He wanted Jade to do more evil of his own accord, when she does so, he becomes afraid she could realize her DragonInChief status and abandon him.
* BigBad: For the aforementioned reason.
* DeadpanSnarker
* DemonOfHumanOrigin: He reveals Jade that like her, he was a mortal human who ascended to the Oni ranks.
* DirtyOldMan: He has shades of this trope. For example, he spies on Jade when she tests her grown breasts after her exoskeleton has been developed. After she stops, he reveals himself and admits that he was enjoying the show. And he later comments if she really isn't wearing any underwear in her glamoured form.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: He states that he hates beings who do things purely ForTheEvulz, referring to them as viruses that destroy everything around them with no thought.
* EvilOldFolks
* ExactWords: Ms. Hartman describes Tarakudo as someone who, while too arrogant to outright lie, perverts the truth to get what he wants, uncaring about who gets hurt by it.
* FauxAffablyEvil: He's more in line with this than the AffablyEvil air he had in canon. At one point Jade even wonders if his affable air and sarcasm is a way for him to false ingratiate himself to others.
* ForTheEvulz: Averted. He hates beings that do evil for no other reason than because it is evil to do it.
* ManipulativeBastard: Even though Jade ''knows'' that Tarakudo is using her for his own ends, he still manages to convince her that helping him is in her best interests. The Old Queen lampshades it by saying that he knows how to control the actions of others through their desires.
* SealedEvilInACan: He's still trapped in his mask, but is able to communicate with and guide Jade.
* TheManInTheMirrorTalksBack: He's able to communicate with Jade from his imprisonment via reflective surfaces. He can also control whether or not someone else can see him.

!!Queen Jorōgumo
The last surviving member of a race of Japanese SpiderPeople residing in [[EldritchLocation the Emptiness]], alongside the Vessel containing her last offspring. She is convinced by Tarakudo to teach Jade in exchange of the young Oni becoming a new carrier for the Vessel. After Jade has been fully trained, the Queen passes away.
----
* BlackEyesOfEvil
* BrutalHonesty: One of the things that she promises Jade when they agree upon her apprenticeship is that the Queen won't tell her anything but the cold truth. She says that political subterfuge is the way of humans and Oni, not her kind.
* DopeSlap: She hits Jade very much like Uncle to put her in line. Though Jade notes that Uncle hits much harder.
* EvilMentor
* EvilOldFolks
* FanArt: The author has drawn a picture of the Queen. It can be seen [[http://festum.deviantart.com/art/Queen-Jorogumo-456022185 here]].
* FangsAreEvil: Venom fangs, to be more precise.
* LastOfHerKind: She and her unborn young are the remnant of the powerful Jorōgumo race. The whole reason she agrees to train Jade is a chance for her race to continue existing.
* LikeADaughterToMe: Shortly before her death, she admits that were she capable of affection, Jade would be everything she would have wanted in a daughter.
** [[spoiler:Her ghost compares Tarantula to her deceased blood daughters (not fondly though): reckless, impatient and contemptuous towards empathy.]]
* [[spoiler:NotQuiteDead:Her ghost is keeping an eye out on Jade.]]
* OriginalCharacter
* SpiderPeople

!!Widow[[spoiler:/Jessie]]
The leader of the three biker girls Jade forcibly transforms as her Gumo soldiers.
----
* CoolShades: She wears a red visor to cover her scarred (main) left eye. Eventually Jumper destroys it.
* DespairEventHorizon: She's so depressed that she doesn't even care to report to Jade about Tara abusing her.
* FanArt: The author has drawn two pictures of Widow, both [[http://festum.deviantart.com/art/Widow-490144429 before]] and [[http://festum.deviantart.com/art/Arachnid-Widow-490145181 after]] her transformation into a Gumo soldier.
* FangsAreEvil: She gains venom fangs due to her transformation.
* GlamourFailure: At firs Widow fares the least well with the glamour spell Jade teaches her and others. While she's more than eager to look human again, her glamour resembles more like a Salvidor Dali painting due to her limited imagination and shaky belief in magic. [[spoiler:She is eventually able to do it perfectly by remembering her human appearance (WartsAndAll).]]
* INeedAFreakingDrink: After Widow is proven that magic ''does'' exist and Jade is a magical being rather than a result of science gone wrong, she raids a liquor store.
* LaserGuidedKarma: Widow comes to believe that everything that's happened to her since meeting Jade and getting transformed is karma for the sins of her previous life.
* MightyGlacier: After her molt, she gains mass (albeit not at the size of Tara) at the cost of speed.
* OnlySaneWoman: While Taranee quickly embraces being a Gumo, and Jumper just as quickly latches onto Jade as her new leader, Widow is deeply disturbed and angered over being forcibly transformed and press-ganged.
* OriginalCharacter
* RedEyesTakeWarning: After her transformation, her eyes become fully red.
* SecurityBlanket: After her transformation, Widow's visor serves as her last tie to humanity, until Jumper destroys it.
* SkepticNoLonger: At first she doesn't believe Jade's tales about magic, believing her to be a result of science gone wrong. After the fight with the J-Team and Chang's Samurai Khan, she's so shocked that she [[INeedAFreakingDrink raids a liquor store]].
* TheAlcoholic: After the above mentioned raid of a liqour store, Widow constantly drowns herself in booze when Jade isn't around.
* TokenGoodTeammate: Is essentially this, as while a criminal through and through, she's nowhere near the levels of monstrous insanity that the other Gumo show.
* VillainousBSOD: Widow has much trouble coping with her new monstrous state. After being proven that magic ''does'' exist, has led her to start DrowningHerSorrows.
* YouCantGoHomeAgain: After Widow [[spoiler:gains control of her glamour]], she tries going to the bar Jade took her from, only to realize that even if she looks human, she doesn't have anything to go back to.

!!Taranee Abigail Richter / Tarantula
The most psychotic member of the three biker girls Jade forcibly transforms as her Gumo soldiers.
----
* AxCrazy / TheBerserker: At one point she gives Widow a NoHoldsBarredBeatdown to relieve stress after she gets overconfident and tries to eat a Section 13 agent right in front of Jade, leading her leader to put her in her place.
* DealWithTheDevil: [[spoiler:She makes one with the Old Queen’s ghost that involves killing Jade and becoming even more inhuman than she already is.]]
* DelinquentHair: When we first meet her, she has a purple limp Mohawk on her otherwise shaved head. She retains it after her transformation, though it seems to be no longer limp.
* EvilCannotComprehendGood: She's infuriated by the fact that Jade has standards, and can't seem to get why someone with Jade's power isn't actively indulging in their darker impulses, like she's doing.
* FanArt: The author has drawn two pictures of Taranee, both [[http://festum.deviantart.com/art/Taranee-490145607 before]] and [[http://festum.deviantart.com/art/Arachnid-Tarantula-490145938 after]] her transformation into a Gumo soldier.
* FangsAreEvil: She gains venom fangs due to her transformation.
* ForceFeeding: She gets so much enjoyment out of watching Widow destroying herself with liquor that she holds her and makes her drink when she doesn't feel like it.
* FullyEmbracedFiend: She's using her transformation as an excuse to let out the sadism that she was never able to express as a human.
* ImAHumanitarian: She has been eating humans in secret and tries to eat a Section 13 agent in front of Jade.
* IAmWhatIAm: A very dark example, as she mentally rants about how she's always been a monster [[spoiler: just before completing her transformation into a total Jorogumo, abandoning the remaining human parts of herself.]]
* MirrorCharacter: [[spoiler:She reminds the Old Queen's spirit of her deceased biological daughters: reckless, arrogant and contemptuous towards empathy.]]
* LadySwearsALot: Jade even calls her a pottymouth at one point.
* LightIsNotGood: She skin was milk white when she was a human. The fur of her Gumo form is white.
* OriginalCharacter
* RedEyesTakeWarning: When we first see her as a human, her eyes are bloodshot (with yellow irises and pinprick pupils). After her transformation, her eyes become fully red.
* {{Sadist}}: Enjoys causing pain and inspiring fear, and uses her former boss Widow as a punching bag and enjoys forcing her to drink herself into a stupor.
* TheSociopath: Jones describes her as a psychopath, which is not a term he uses lightly. Apparently her rap sheet, easily the longest of the trio's, reads like a Stephen King novel.
* TheBrute: Tara is the largest of Jade's minions, and counts solely on that fact in fights, caring nothing for subtlety.
* TheStarscream: Slowly becomes one for Jade.
** [[spoiler:Luckily, Jade knows her minion is plotting something, if not what]].
* TokenEvilTeammate: Is the cruelest and most sadistic member of Jade's posse.
* TranshumanTreachery: She relishes her transformation the most out of all Jade's minions, taking it as an excuse to be the immoral and sadistic monster she really is deep inside. She has even been attacking and killing innocents under Jade's nose. [[spoiler:Part of the Old Queen's deal with her is that the Queen helps her become even ''more'' inhuman in exchange for a shot at taking Jade out.]]

!!Jumper
The silent and sycophantic member of the three biker girls Jade forcibly transforms as her Gumo soldiers.
----
* BerserkButton: When a perfume saleswoman sprays Jade with her wares, briefly overwhelming her senses with the scent, Jumper stabs her.
* TheDitherer: Apparently part of the reason she’s such a sycophant is a desire to avoid having to make her own decisions.
* FanArt: The author has drawn two pictures of Jumper, both [[http://festum.deviantart.com/art/Jumper-490146292 before]] and [[http://festum.deviantart.com/art/Arachnid-Jumper-490146675 after]] her transformation into a Gumo soldier.
* FangsAreEvil: She gains venom fangs due to her transformation.
* FreedomFromChoice: Why she's a {{Sycophant|icServant}}.
* IFightForTheStrongestSide: Jumper's sycophantic nature means that she'll serve the strongest person in any given group. She's only loyal to Widow when we first meet the girls because she had beaten their previous leader, and quickly changes loyalties to Jade when she press-gangs them. [[spoiler: Due to Jade's unstable leadership, she silently switches to serving the treacherous Tara.]]
* KickTheDog: After Widow has served for a time as Tara's punching pack, Jumper picks up Widow's fallen [[SecurityBlanket visor]]. At first it looks like she's going to hand it over to her former leader, but she breaks it instead. Widow notes that the cruelty is uncharacteristic for Jumper.
* OriginalCharacter
* RedEyesTakeWarning: After her transformation, her eyes become fully red.
* SycophanticServant: After Jade shows how strong she is after transforming Jumper and the others, Jumper immediately latches onto her new leader. Widow isn't surprised; she describes Jumper as a "chronic ass-kisser", and admits that it makes perfect sense for her to switch loyalties from Widow to Jade like that, since she apparently did the same thing when Widow beat up Jumper's previous leader. It gets to the point where even Jade herself is disturbed at the utter devotion, and wishes that Jumper would show a little more independence.
* TheSneakyGal: Both before and after her transformation, Jumper's fighting style is to use her stealth and agility to catch her opponents unaware.
* TheVoiceless: We haven't heard her speak so far. Once she whispered something into Jade's ear.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Heroes]]
!!Jackie Chan
Jade's archaeologist and martial artist uncle, who is desperately trying to return his niece from the brink.
----
* BewareTheNiceOnes: When he learns of the humiliating prank done to Jade at the beginning of the story, he can hardly suppress his anger.
* CallingTheOldManOut: After Ms. Hartman's talk to him about Jade, the J-Team's actions and the validity of [[AlwaysChaoticEvil demons being naturally evil]], Jackie decides to [[spoiler:let her prove her point by keeping her Essence]]. When Uncle chews him out after this, Jackie throws Ms. Hartman's arguments back at him, telling his elder that he has for too long listened to Uncle's BlackAndWhiteMorality viewpoint, which has not brought Jade back to them at all, quite the opposite. Jackie decides that he won't follow Uncle blindly anymore.
* NiceGuy: Lampshaded by Captain Black and Viper.
* TakingTheBullet: A non-fatal one. [[spoiler:When Chang nearly succeeds striking Jade with his sword to kill her and her eggs, Jackie stops it, hurting himself badly in the process.]]

!!Uncle
Jackie's uncle and Jade's granduncle. He's an antique store owner and a chi wizard.
----
* BigWhat: He reacts this way when Jade reveals her pregnancy.
** He does it again when Valmont calls for Essence removal.
* BlackAndWhiteMorality: He has a rather strict view about good and evil, claiming that dark beings like Oni are [[AlwaysChaoticEvil naturally attuned to evil deeds and cruelties]], making them natural enemies to the forces of light. It leads him to insisting that even a reluctant foe such as Jade has to be stopped. Jackie even points out that this viewpoint is part of the reason they haven't gotten Jade back.
* {{Foil}}: To Uncle. They're both magic users, but Azan is young while Uncle is old, Azan uses his name while Uncle is [[OnlyKnownByHisNickname only called Uncle]], Uncle has redeeming personal qualities underneath his gruff exterior while Azan is a total jerk so far and Azan is a magical innovator with questionable competence in the arts while the old school preferring Uncle is a master chi wizard.
* GoodIsNotNice / JerkWithAHeartOfGold: While he's dedicated to the Forces of Light, he can often be quite insensitive.
%% * GrumpyOldMan
** When at one point Uncle tries to use the Enforcers to do research by telephone, screaming every third word and cursing their efforts, Viper thinks that the trio's experiences under their previous [[BadBoss "employers"]] (Valmont, Shendu, Daolon Wong, Tarakudo and Drago) are coming handy with [[MeanBoss the grumpy old man]].
* ParentalSubstitute: Jackie was orphaned when he was five. Uncle just showed up and took Jackie in.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: He chews out Daolon Wong for his willingness to cast away his humanity for the sake of power. He also says that he doesn't respect Wong enough to hate him, instead pitying him.
** In the second BreatherEpisode, he tells Viper that he refuses to trust her like the other reformed crooks he knows - like El Toro and Tohru - because she hasn't stopped using her thief's name. To him it's a sign that she lacks the resolve to truly give up her past as a criminal.
* RomanticismVersusEnlightenment: On the Romanticism side, preferring the old school style of magic.
* ShutUpHannibal: When Daolon Wong tries to taunt Uncle about what has happened to Jade, Uncle yawns and accuses Wong of being too afraid to face him and trying to bore him to death.
* WithUsOrAgainstUs: Jackie's above mentioned CallingTheOldManOut moment makes Uncle wonder if he has already written Jade off as a casualty without realising it.

!!Tohru
A former Dark Hand enforcer who switched his loyalties to the Chans and became Uncle's apprentice. He's now a full chi wizard.
----
* BerserkButton: [[spoiler: Leston killing his own mother enrages Tohru.]]
* DrowningMySorrows: After the events in Innsmaw.
* GeniusBruiser: He's a sumo and a fully realized chi wizard.
* ReformedCriminal

!!Captain Black
The head of Section 13 and Jackie's old friend.
----
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure

!!Viper / Vered Solomon
A former burglar who takes Jade's place in the J-team.
----
* AbusiveParents: Her parents were emotionally abusive and perfection driven.
* BlessedWithSuck: [[spoiler:She isn't exactly overjoyed about getting Origami's PaperMaster abilities]].
* GenreSavvy: She correctly predicts that Jade and Daolon Wong wouldn't be willing to work together just because they're both Oni Generals.
* HowDoIShotWeb: [[spoiler:After the initial shock dies down, she starts experimenting with her new PaperMaster powers, in order to better understand them]].
* TheNameSaysItAll: Uncle argues that since Viper chooses to continue using her nickname from her criminal days, she has not truly decided to change.
** When she left the ballet school and started living on the streets of Paris, she was called Viper due to her fast stealing hands.
* PaperMaster: [[spoiler:Accidentally gains Origami’s paper abilities after he is stripped of his Essence]].
* RequiredSecondaryPowers: [[spoiler:Has a few, like being able to drink in her mouth without crinkling up, and not being affected by her own blood and the like]].

!!El Toro Fuerte
A Mexican wrestler.
----
* MaskedLuchador

!!Paco
A young Mexican boy and El Toro's apprentice.
----
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: His well-meaning attempt to cure Jade with the Essence-removal potion leads him to unintentionally [[spoiler:harming her eggs]], which leads her opinions about her family and former friends to [[LetsGetDangerous grow lower]].
* PutOnABus: After the above mentioned NiceJobBreakingItHero moment, he has been remaining with his parents in Mexico.
* WrongGenreSavvy: He thinks that Tarakudo is mind-controlling Jade, and to save her, the Oni King just has to be defeated. None of the adults have the heart to tell him that her change is almost certainly permanent.

!!Elizabeth "Liz" Annemarie Hartman
Jade's school teacher who, after her student's transformation and disappearance, miraculously becomes the new General of the Bat Khan.
----
* ArmorPiercingQuestion: She gives Jackie several of these about how he has handled Jade's situation, as well as his own belief in good and evil. [[spoiler:He decides to give her a chance to prove her point by keeping her Essence.]]
* BatOutOfHell / WingedHumanoid: Though not of evil variety as of now.
* BreastExpansion: This also comes from her transformation.
* ChekhovsGunman: She first appears in the first chapter, being present during Jade's initial tranformation. Much later, she's minutes from becoming an Oni General.
* [[DarkIsNotEvil Dark Is Not Always Evil]]: Being near Jade during her initial transformation caused the traces of [[ContinuityNod Hsi Wu the Sky Demon Sorceror's chi within Hartman]] to reawaken. That's why the Bat Khan Essence chose her despite her not being evil in the slightest. [[spoiler:She eventually decides to keep the Essence but not join Jade and Tarakudo, feeling there has to be other options.]]
* FanArt: The author has drawn a picture of Ms. Hartman after her transformation. It can be seen [[http://festum.deviantart.com/art/Queen-Liz-504787991 here]].
* FountainOfYouth: The glamoured human form of middle-aged Hartman looks as young as it did when she left university.
* GlamourFailure: Played with. While her glamour doesn't fail on her, she does feel how it would be all too easy to slip since it feels (as Jade put it) "as fragile as a soap bubble". She also has trouble dying her hair back to brown since the chemicals keeps slipping off.
* HiddenDepths: She turns out to be surprisingly insightful and clear headed about Jade and the whole conflict.
* IJustWantToBeSpecial: She realizes that after her time being under the influence of the chi of Hsi Wu, she has subconsciously wanted to fly again and do things she hasn't done during her life as an ordinary member of the society. It's part of the reason [[spoiler:she decides to remain as an Oni, in addition to trying to help Jade out of the brink]].
* InadequateInheritor: Of all the new Oni Generals, Tarakudo dislikes Ms. Hartman the most since she doesn't have any inner darkness. He refuses to appear to her when she's speaking with Jade, but later appears privately to taunt her.
* LeotardOfPower: Jade weaves one for her out of her silk. Ms. Hartman would have preferred something more covering, but decides to compromise.
* [[spoiler:{{Metamorphosis}}: She allows her Essence to fully bond to her.]]
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Being a school teacher, she does her best to reach Jade during their conversation in the forest. And she decides to hear Jackie's side of the story before making her decision.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Her eyes initially turn red with lizard-like slit pupils, and later turn solid red [[spoiler:after her transformation is complete]]. But it's subverted by the fact that her morality hasn't changed.
* ShockAndAwe: She gains the power to control electricity [[spoiler:after her transformation is complete]].
* ShutUpHannibal: When Tarakudo tries to get in Hartman's head, she delivers an epic TheReasonYouSuckSpeech to him regarding not only her hatred towards him for what he has done to Jade, but also that once Jade realizes that it's ''he'' who needs ''her'' and not the other way around, he has nothing left.
* StatuesqueStunner: Her transformation makes her three inches taller than Jackie.
* SuperSenses: Her demonic bat hearing is so acute it sometimes [[BlessedWithSuck gives her a headache]].
* TakeAThirdOption: [[spoiler:She ultimately chooses to remain as an Oni without joining Jade's cause, feeling there has to be alternatives to the WithUsOrAgainstUs mentality both sides believe in.]]
* TranshumanTreachery: Averted. Despite becoming an Oni General, Hartman's morality doesn't change in the slightest [[spoiler:even after her transformation is complete]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Other Villains]]
!!Daolon Wong
An ancient dark chi wizard who has faced Chans many times in the past. Eventually he was stripped of his powers by Uncle and incarcerated. He becomes the new General of the Ninja Khan.
----
* AdmiringTheAbomination: When he first meets Jade after her transformation (not recognizing her), he compliments her appearance, saying that she looks like something sculpted by the Dark Gods themselves, and being somewhat civil to her. He even approves of her enduring years of suffering in pursuit of power. Of course, all that ends when he forces his mind into hers and realizes ''whom'' he is speaking with.
* ArchEnemy / EvilCounterpart: Towards Uncle, as per canon.
* CardCarryingVillain: Like in canon. He even says that his transformation is a reward for his long dedication towards evil.
* CastingAShadow: During his fight with Uncle, he attacks Uncle through the Light Chi Wizard's shadows.
* DontYouDarePityMe: Wong becomes enraged when Uncle says that he pities him instead of hating him, allowing him to break free of Uncle's hold.
* EvilGloating: He does this as much as before. [[spoiler:It eventually costs him in that Paco takes him out by hitting his head with a pipe from behind.]]
* EvilOldFolks
* EvilSorceror: He is an experienced dark wizard despite losing his magical powers to Uncle. He gains new powers due to his transformation, but loses them when the Essence is removed from him.
* ForTheEvulz: His ninjas kill numerous prison staff members to wash away his humiliation of being sealed in a mundane prison.
* FreakyIsCool: He savors in his new monstrous appearance.
* InadequateInheritor: Tarakudo agrees with Jade that Wong isn't General material, being way too stubborn and set in his ways because of pride and old age, past the point of adaptability. They plan to take the Essence from him to give to someone more deserving (though they don't succeed).
* MarkOfTheSupernatural: During his time as an Oni General, Wong's normally gray left eye turns sickly pale pink, and his blue right eye turns [[RedEyesTakeWarning fiery solid red]].
* NoodleIncident: In his last appearance in canon, he was trapped in the past. How he returned to the present to be incarcerated is never discussed.
* PoliticallyIncorrectVillain: He shows signs of being misogynistic. For one thing, he mocks Jade (and later Uncle about the same thing), claiming that she holds value to Tarakudo as much as "an overglorified broodmare". After he's defeated, he also calls Viper "miserable harlot", saying that she should speak to her betters only when addressed.
* UnskilledButStrong: In a way. His fighting methods during his duel with Uncle have hardly changed, but his new demonic [[SuperToughness fortitude]] helps him a lot.
* [[spoiler:VillainExitStageLeft: After being stripped of his Essence, he escapes from his chains while the J-Team battles Jade.]]
* VillainTeamUp: [[spoiler:Joins forces with Chang offscreen, and later forces Kasahara, the former Origami, into it as well]].
* WizardDuel: He challenges Uncle into this.
* YourSoulIsMine: Wong plans to eat Uncle's soul, gain his memories and strength and let him [[AndIMustScream endure torture inside Wong's stomach]].

!!Bartholomew Chang
A Taiwanese criminal mastermind who has faced the J-Team thrice in the past. He's freed from imprisonment when he becomes the new General of the Samurai Khan.
----
* AbsurdlySharpBlade: His shadow katana is described as being sharp enough to cut through steel like air.
* AttackItsWeakPoint: [[spoiler:He almost manages to kill Jade by targeting abdomen with his sword that could easily cut through her exoskeleton. He's stopped only by Jackie interfering.]]
* BladeBelowTheShoulder: He can create a shadow katana to the place of his missing right hand.
* BodyHorror: His human skin dries up and peels away as his new demon scales come through.
* EvilOldFolks
* EvilerThanThou: He turns down Jade's offer of joining her and Tarakudo because she doesn't finish off the J-Team while having the perfect chance for that.
* InadequateInheritor: Tarakudo is displeased with Chang, finding him to be too self-absorbed to even pretend serving anyone, and orders Jade to kill him.
* MalevolentMaskedMen: He starts wearing an Oni mask during his slow transformation into one. He apparently chose that purely on instinct.
* [[spoiler:{{Metamorphosis}}: He eventually turns into an Oni fully.]]
* RapidAging: In his last appearance in canon, Chang was turned into a child by a chi spell and locked up in a juvenile detention center. This age regression comes undone by the Samurai Essence bonding to him, returning him to his proper age.
* SpitTake: While discussing with Jade about possible recruitment, she (who is in her glamoured human form) turns down Chang's offer of a glass of wine, mentioning her pregnancy. Chang concedes, starts taking a sip, spitting it out immediately.
* [[spoiler:VillainExitStageLeft: After completing his transformation and failing to kill Jade, he flees.]]
* VillainTeamUp: [[spoiler: Joins forces with Wong offscreen, and later forces Kasahara, the former Origami, into it as well.]]

!!The Old Colonel
The king of Mexican drug cartels.
----
* EvilCannotComprehendGood: By his own admission, he knows the J-Team will try and save him from Chang, but not ''why''.
* EvilOldFolks
* OriginalCharacter

!!Niles Valmont
The former leader of the Dark Hand, who was removed from power through his association with the Chans and magic. After living in poverty for months, he becomes the new General of the Crab Khan.
----
* DeadpanSnarker
* ManChild: Jade accuses him of being one, what with his NeverMyFault attitude and all.
* NeverMyFault: As Jade points out, his whining about how magic has ruined his life leaves out the fact that he’s living in poverty even after months of not dealing with magic.
* PowerIncontinence: After Valmont transforms, he starts summoning Crab Khan, with no idea how to stop or dismiss them. Then, after Jade manages to get him mad, they react on their own to his rage and start attacking everything in sight, namely Jade and her crew. [[spoiler:He finally gets past it after hitting his RageBreakingPoint]].
* SeenItAll: Barely even reacts to becoming an Oni, besides calling Jackie for a cure.
* VillainousBreakdown: [[spoiler:After being beaten and BroughtDownToNormal, Valmont [[LaughingMad breaks down and laughs]] as he's arrested, believing that his life is a joke only he gets, telling Jackie that ''he'' won in the end because there was nowhere they could put him that was ''worse'' than the crummy apartment that he was in before, and at least in jail he'll have three meals a day, respect, and a place to sleep, and sarcastically wishes them good luck in their constant, thankless and futile quest against the supernatural]].
* VillainousBSOD: Valmont has been so broken down by his fall to power that he barely seems to care when he finds himself the new Crab-khan general, save from calling Jackie to ask for a cure. Jade even thinks this is why he transformed so fast, his soul was so beaten down that he didn't even ''try'' to resist the change. At one point Jade makes him mad enough get past it, [[spoiler: but he quickly slips into it again after being beaten, and goes into a full-blown VillainousBreakdown]].

!!Carl Nivor
A criminal gourmand whom Jade and Jackie once encountered. He becomes the new General of the Leech Khan.
----
* EvenEvilHasStandards: He proclaims that he's going to wait until his transformation is complete before he tries to eat the J-Team, because until then, eating them would be cannibalism.
* HorrorHunger: Jade mentions how his obsession to eat endangered creatures (that he already had as a human) borders on being a fetish. He also finds the taste of the J-Team's (excluding Jackie and Viper) shadows enjoyable. There's also his ImAHumanitarian section below.
* ImAHumanitarian: He's interested in eating the J-Team once he goes full Oni and it’s not technically cannibalism.
* NoodleIncident: How he got the Leech Khan Essence or was recruited by Jade? They're left open.
* UnexpectedCharacter: Hardly anyone expected a oneshot villain from the first season to appear.
* VillainExitStageLeft: After he's stripped of his Essence, he's imprisoned. But Jade frees him and instructs him to find a hiding place and wait for the escaped Essence to rebond with him. Of course, it never happens.

!!Origami/Kuniko Kasahara
A thief that focuses of Far East art, with the ability to turn his body into paper and fold himself into a variety of shapes, who leaves an origami animal at the scenes of his thefts. Captured by Jackie and imprisoned .Becomes the new Razor khan General.
----
* AGodAmI: [[spoiler:After he looses his PaperMaster abilities]], he shows disdain about being trapped in a cell for "mere mortals".
* AttentionWhore: Dreads being ordinary and out of focus. [[spoiler:To that end, he is angrier at the J-Team for {{Depower}}ing him than he is at Jade for betraying him]].
* CutLexLuthorACheck: He used his abilities to become wealthy before focusing on art thefts.
* DePower: [[spoiler:In the end he is not only stripped of his Essence, but the extraction rips out the magic paper that gave him his PaperMaster abilities as well]].
* EvilIsPetty: His entire motivation for stealing rare art (basically, he feels that he's the only one who deserves to look at it) is quite petty. Jade even lampshades it.
* ManChild: His motivation for stealing rare pieces Far East art? He feels that only he deserves to look upon them, like a child who doesn’t like to share his toys.
* NoodleIncident: His escape from prison, and Jade throwing him in a bag and bringing him to the lair, are both unseen.
* OnlyInItForTheMoney: Tarakudo gets Origami to join him by promising him that he’d be able to reassemble his art collection, as well as a chance for {{Revenge}} on Jackie.
* PaperMaster: As in canon. Tarakudo even expresses a hope that his Shadowkhan will gain the power. [[spoiler:It later gets shifted to Viper]].
* RefugeInAudacity: He took full advantage of the fact that most people have a WeirdnessCensor by committing his thefts blatantly and letting any witnesses rationalize it away, which worked against him when he met Jackie.
* RequiredSecondaryPowers: Can see and hear in paper form, though to speak he needs to shapeshift his lungs back. Jade actually points out the FridgeLogic in this, and he’s unable to come up with a reply.
* {{Revenge}}: Wants it against Jackie, the man who caught him and got all his stolen art confiscated and returned.
* ShapeshifterBaggage: Is unable to change his mass.
* TheSpeechless: He cannot speak in paper form. If he wants to talk to someone, he needs to partially revert.
* TailorMadePrison: Was stuffed into a special electrified cell after his defeat in Paris.
* TheyJustDontGetIt: [[spoiler:Is unable to understand why Jade betrayed him]].
* UnexpectedCharacter: In the same vein as Nivor, a oneshot villain from canon who reappeared here.
* VerbalTic: As in canon, he refers to Jackie as Chan Jackie Chan.
* VillainTeamUp: [[spoiler: Is forced into this by Wong and Chang after he loses his Oni essence AND Origami powers.]]
* WeirdnessCensor: Referenced, he relied on the fact that people would rationalize his abilities as Origami away to commit his crimes. This bit him in the butt when it came to Jackie though.

!![[spoiler: Simon Leston]]
The new General of the Squid Khan, a formerly meek but misanthropic man, who upon his transformation terrorizes his hometown as a prelude to the rest of the world.
----
* AGodAmI: Delves into this during his MotiveRant.
* AscendedFanboy: Was a huge Creator/HPLovecraft fan, and is now like something from one of those stories.
* AssholeVictim: [[spoiler: No one is upset by Jade killing him.]]
* AxCrazy: Is a total sociopath.
* EldritchAbomination: His Oni form.
* EvilerThanThou: Is considered by Tohru to be worse than any other villain in JCA canon.
* EyeScream: Gouged out his own eyes upon his transformation so he wouldn't have to look upon mankind anymore.
* ForTheEvulz: Lacks any real motive, and just acts cruelly for the sake of cruelty.
* FromNobodyToNightmare: Once a simple, meek, ordinary man. Now the most monstrous of all the Oni generals seen so far.
* FullyEmbracedFiend: Like Tara, he fully embraces his monstrous nature from the start.
* KilledMidSentence: [[spoiler: Jade interrupts him in the middle of declaring his new god name, and proceeds to brutally kill him.]]
* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler:KilledOffscreen by Jade]].
* KnightOfCerebus: His story arc is notably darker than most of the others.
* [[spoiler: {{Matricide}}: Kills his own mother.]]
* MisanthropeSupreme: Even before his transformation, he hated all other people. Now, he can act on it.
* MotiveRant: Gives one to Tohru.
* OmnicidalManiac: Intends to wipe out all life on Earth.
* OriginalCharacter: The first one to get an Essence.
* ThatManIsDead: Rejects his human name, but [[TheUnreveal before we can hear his new one]], [[spoiler: Jade interrupts and kills him.]]

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Other Characters]]
!!Andrew "Drew" Jacoby
Jade's schoolmate with whom she shares a strong dislike.
----
* HorrorHunger: When Drew gets the Leech Essence he becomes hungrier than he can ever remember being in his life, and it actually begins to distract him from the Leech-Khan popping up everywhere.
* LaserGuidedKarma: Views the new reactions of everyone towards him as this for what he did to Jade.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: Genuinely regrets what he did to Jade while unwittingly being influenced.
* PowerIncontinence: Drew has a problem similar to Valmont’s when the Leech-khan essence, forced from its preferred host Nivor and damaged by good magic blasts, senses the trace energies of Jade's awakening and latches onto him, with Leech-khan popping up in his room. The Essence, finding him wanting, then takes over and has the Leech-Khan drag him off to get itself removed by the nearest General.

!!The Enforcers
Three reformed Dark Hand thugs, who have served as henchmen for the various {{Big Bad}}s the Chans have faced.
----
* DemotedToExtra: So far they have been mostly watching out Uncle's Rare Finds while the J-Team is out on missions.
* GenreSavvy: Due to their past experiences, they realize that if a spider-woman is paying them a visit, she's likely going to enlist and turn them into spider monsters themselves.
* {{Irony}}: They lampshade the irony that after all the times they've risked their lives trying to steal ancient magical artifacts, they actually don't know much about antiques themselves.
* MookCarryover: Subverted. Jade appears to recruit them, only for them to flee for their lives before she can make the proposition.
* NoGoodDeedGoesUnpunished: In the second BreatherEpisode, they go through a lot of trouble to retrieve a stolen figurine, only to get chewed out by Uncle for not selling anything while he was out.
* TheGreatestStoryNeverTold / NoodleIncident: We never see what happened to the Enforcers when they were recovering the figurine.
* ScrewThisImOutOfHere: When Jade shows up they run away.

!!Agent Hector Bardem
A member of the Mexican police who is dragged into the magical world.
----
* OriginalCharacter
* StraightMan: To Luz.

!!Luz
A young sorceress from Mexico that Bardem recruits for help.
----
* BadassInDistress: As shown during her captivity during the Squid Khan arc, she hates the whole concept of being a DistressedDamsel, and will work to avoid it. [[spoiler: Using just scraps of her own clothes and ink from the Squids guarding her, she's able to make a rudimentary spell to help her escape.]]
* ComicallyMissingThePoint: Totally misunderstands Bardem's incredulity about her summoning a {{Chupacabra}}.
* OriginalCharacter
* ReplacementGoldfish: [[spoiler: Jade accuses the J-Team of using Luz as this for herself.]]
* SummonMagic: Accidentally summoned the {{Chupacabra}} that bit El Toro in canon.
* TagalongKid: To the J-Team during the Squid Khan arc. By hiding in their luggage, of all things.

!!Agent Jones
The field leader of the newly established [[AntiMagicalFaction Section 0]].
----
* BerserkButton: Having his NoodleIncident mission brought up.
* NoodleIncident: Whatever led to him being reassigned to run Section 0.
* NotSoStoic: Tries to be TheStoic, but is too easily worked up.
* OriginalCharacter
* ReassignedToAntarctica: Is put in charge of Section 0... which currently consists of just three agents (himself included) and operates out of one of Section 13's repurposed ''closets''.
* ShockAndAwe: Uses electro-gloves in combat.

!!Azan
The hired magician of Section 0.
----
* EpicFail: His Essence containment jar breaks extremely easily.
* {{Jerkass}}: He is not a very pleasant man.
* MagiciansAreWizards: Nivor thinks he's seen him in Reno.
* ManChild: He acts like a spoiled brat.
* MotorMouth: Talks nonstop on the way to Mexico, much to Jones's dismay (especially since most of what he's saying is smack about Mexico, with ''Mexicans in earshot'').
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: Accidentally allows the Leech Essence to escape.
* OriginalCharacter
* RomanticismVersusEnlightenment: On the Enlightnment side, preferring innovation in his magic.
* SquishyWizard: Better at magic than at physical stuff.

!!Hak Foo
A mercenary who has served the various {{Big Bad}}s the Chans have faced. After his defeats at the hands of the Chans ruin his reputation in the underworld, he's recruited as Section 0's muscle.
----
* BadassInANiceSuit: He briefly wears a suit, as requested by Section 0. He rips it off later, [[DressedInLayers revealing to have worn his usual outfit underneath it]].
* CallingHisAttacks: Obviously. Section 0 is trying to break him of this habit. He goes back into it later, and fights ''better'' because of it.
* {{Irony}}: Hak Foo's first appearance involves him fighting against the Leech Khan, the very Shadowkhan tribe ''he'' once controlled.
* RageBreakingPoint: After having been reduced to working for Section 0 (which forces him to suppress almost everything about his own personality to keep the job), he finds himself fighting Jade — whom he associates with every failure that led him there — and losing. Finally, when Jade happily comments on Jackie seeming to finally admit his feelings towards Viper (in the middle of the fight, no less), he snaps, ripping off his standard issue suit and fighting in his usual style. It's commented that he seems more content afterwards.
* RecruitingTheCriminal: He was recruited because of his experience with magic (his reputation being shot because of his constant defeats by the J-Team were a big part of his reason for accepting).
* TheSocialDarwinist: He shows shades of this, believing that those who do mind the physical form the power they have been granted gives them don't deserve it. And in his opinion Jade doesn't appreciate enough the power she has been granted.
* UnstoppableRage: After hitting the above mentioned RageBreakingPoint, he manages to break free of his trappings and [[CurbStompBattle easily turn the tables on Jade]].
