[[folder: Not route specific characters]]
!Player Character
The terribly unfortunate individual being sold to one of three psychopaths.
* FeaturelessProtagonist: The only thing revealed about them is their name and gender, and that's entirely up to you to decide on.
* GenderInclusiveWriting: You can choose whether your character is referred to as male, a female, or non-binary.
* TheManyDeathsOfYou: Every route has more deaths than victories, and those deaths are always described in [[{{Gorn}} loving detail]].

!The Seller / [[spoiler:Fox / Ren Hana]]
[[quoteright:279:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sexy_anouncer.png]]
[[caption-width-right:279:[[labelnote:Click here to see him out of the shadows! ('''SPOILERS''')]]https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/extra_sexy_fox.jpg [[/labelnote]]]]
* CanonCharacterAllAlong: [[spoiler:He's Ren Hana from ''VisualNovel/BoyfriendToDeath'', and boy, [[FromNobodyToNightmare has he come a long way from his timid beginnings]]...]]
* FauxAffablyEvil: He's got a cheerful, if snide, demeanour during the auction portion of the game.
* FromNobodyToNightmare: [[spoiler:Ren has gone from the victim in the first ''VisualNovel/BoyfriendToDeath'' to the victimizer here in the twisted game of [[HumanTraffickers human trafficking]]]].
* GreaterScopeVillain: He's the one selling you after all. [[spoiler:The DLC promotes him to BigBad status]].
* UnusualEars: ''Fox'' ears of all things. [[spoiler:This is because he is the 47-year-old Ren Hana from the ''VisualNovel/BoyfriendToDeath'' series.]]
* WalkingSpoiler: It's almost impossible to talk about him without spoiling the DLC.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Derek's Route]]
!Derek Goffard
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_3569_9.jpeg]]
A member of gang of psychotic lunatics. One of three buyers to be sold to.
* AxCrazy: All of the gang (and the buyers) are this by default, but Derek tops them all in terms of the sheer energy he puts into his mindless sadism.
* BigBadWannabe: Despite being the one who buys you at the auction, he is ''not '' the primary threat to you, or even the leader of his group seemingly, with that honour going to Jack. [[spoiler: You can even kill him outright at the halfway point if you have the knife, also making him a DiscOneFinalBoss.]]
* ColourMotif: Red, reflecting his bloodlust and hot bloodedness.
* HotBlooded: Is noticeably quick to boil over compared to his buddies, which reflects in how [[spoiler: Defying his will at all will get you immediately killed.]]
* NoRespectGuy: The interactions he has with his gang that aren’t related to their [[ColdBloodedTorture activities]] consists of Komodo and Dragon making fun of him for overspending on you. [[spoiler: He’s also just left out in the open if you stab him but allow him to live, which leaves him injured and vulnerable for Machete to kill him.]]
* PsychopathicManchild: He behaves more like a particularly surly teenager than the grow man he clearly is, and he throws tantrums whenever you don’t do what he wants.
* UngratefulBastard: Later in his route, depending on the choices you make, [[spoiler: you may have the option to save his life from Machete. Your reward for this is an ending where he takes you back home with stated intent to torture you for as long as he wishes.]]
!Jack / [[spoiler:Dean]]
[[quoteright:396:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jack_00.png]]
[[caption-width-right:407:[[labelnote:Click here to see him unmasked! ('''SPOILERS''')]] https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/acab.png [[/labelnote]]]]
The leader of the gang in Derek’s route.
* BigBad: The actual boss of the band of [[{{Sadist}} sadists]] in Derek’s route. [[spoiler: getting a good or golden ending invariably leads to you having to face him no matter what as well.]]
* WhiteHairBlackHeart: Has silver locks and a yearning for cold blooded murder.
* StalkerWithACrush or StalkerWithoutACrush: It’s not entirely clear which he is, but Jaqueline says that he was constantly stalking her at her gym before kidnapping her, even working around her changing her schedule to do so. Where he falls on the spectrum of perverted to just wanting to kill her is never elaborated upon by either.
!Komodo & Dragon / [[spoiler:Michael & Jason]]
[[quoteright:540:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_3570.jpeg]]
A pair of men in the gang who seem to have their own agenda.
* BanteringBaddieBuddies: They’re inseparable and full of banter.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Their friendship is genuine despite their crimes, and [[spoiler: Dragon will be utterly distraught if he accidentally kills Komodo, who, for his part, tries to dissuade his guilt as he’s dying.]]
* FatAndSkinny: Dragon is the fat. Komodo is the skinny.
* HumanSacrifice: In the [[spoiler: hidden cave in the hill]] you’ll find a sacrificial altar. Time it right, and you’ll arrive before, during or after the two have tried to summon a demon this way, which translates, respectively, into [[spoiler: you being sacrificed, you saving Tom for being sacrificed, or you coming across Tom's body.]]
!Machete
[[quoteright:200:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/machete_4.jpg]]
A strangely somber member of the gang. This is for good reason.
* ScaryBlackMan: The only black member of the gang, and uniquely intimidating for his lack of over the top sadism.
* TheStoic: Is noticeably less enthusiastic about torturing a bunch of strangers than his compatriots, and is very terse and unemotional in all his scenes.
* TokenGoodTeammate: {{Downplayed}}. He still brought someone to the desert like the others and killed the group's first victim himself, but he still doesn’t actually seem to enjoy any of what he’s doing. [[spoiler: It turns out he’s there to kill all of them to avenge his sister's death, and ends up saving the survivors in the golden ending.]]
* VengeanceFeelsEmpty: [[spoiler:Even if he kills the gang and avenges his sister, he points out to the survivors that it wasn't going to make him feel better]].
!Jaqueline
[[quoteright:263:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jaqueline.png]]
A female victim brought by Jack.
* ActionGirl: {{Downplayed}} She’ll tell you she took self defence courses, and it shows during the [[spoiler: good ending]], but before that point she’ll be just as helpless as the rest of the group.
* HotBlooded: She’s introduced openly struggling against Jack as he brings her to the camp, and she keeps that attitude up throughout.
!Tom
[[quoteright:258:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tom_my_beloved.png]]
A male victim brought by Komodo & Dragon.
* BigBeautifulMan: A pleasant young man with a prominent gut and squeamish demeanour, which is understandable considering [[ThirstyDesert the]] [[ColdBloodedTorture circumstances]]
* NiceGuy: Taking to him reveals him to be very nice, though that might be due to how talking to him requires you to [[spoiler: save his life.]] Talking to him helps raise your sanity due to this.
!Richard
[[quoteright:234:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/whatthefuckrichard.jpg]]
A male victim brought by Machete.
* DespairEventHorizon: The dialogue he has in [[spoiler:the hidden cave]] indicates he’s crossed it, and his actions reflect that. Talking to him actually lowers your sanity meter due to how negative he is.
* DirtyCoward: His first major action in the story is siccing Derek on you to save his own skin. [[spoiler: Trying to jump Jack with him only results in the same thing happening.]]
!Chamomile
[[quoteright:200:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mybabychamomile.jpg]]
A female victim brought by Komodo & Dragon, and [[DoomedByCanon is always the first of the group to die.]]
* CruelAndUnusualDeath: She dies ''horribly.''
* WeHardlyKnewYe: Introduced with the rest of the cast, only to be chosen to “set the mood”. You can learn later that she went to the same university campus as Tom, but that’s it.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Celia’s Route]]
!Celia Lede
[[quoteright:338:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/celia_7.png]]
The sole female buyer.
* ALighterShadeOfBlack: Compared to [[AxCrazy Derek]] & [[HuntingTheMostDangerousGame Mason]] she’s actually the ''most '' reasonable buyer to deal with. This is reflected in how lenient she can be with restraining you (if you’re complying with her) and there’s even an ending where [[spoiler: you can choose to stay with her and flee the police]]. Of course, the bar for what constitutes a light shade of black in this case is still ''firmly ''in vantablack territory.
* AwfulWeddedLife: Celia has nothing good to say about her husband Harold, complaining at length about his philandering with younger women and about how all of them are “sheep.” Likewise, [[spoiler: when Harold shows up, he’s immediately disparaging toward the whole operation she has going on, [[TheAloner which]] [[ColdBloodedTorture isn’t]] [[HumiliationConga uncalled for]], but he’s more concerned about how it’ll reflect on ''him ''!]]
* BadBoss: {{Implied}} by her disparaging remarks about her workers and also the fact that she’s keeping you captive in a TortureCellar like office building.
* BigBad: It’s her route after all, and she’s the only threat until [[spoiler: Harold shows up]].
* ColourMotif: Blue, reflecting her cold demeanour and frustration with her life.
* FemalesAreMoreInnocent: Calling her innocent is enough of a stretch it's about to snap under the torque, but it's kind of predicable the one female buyer would be the one you can actually reason with.
* HairTriggerTemper: She’ll be set off at the slightest defiance to her will, which usually results in a messy death for you.
* HighPoweredCareerWoman: She is one, which provides her with the resources to pursue the extracurricular activity we see in the game. She’ll even talk with you about how difficult it is to be one, if she feels like it.
* PragmaticVillainy: She bought you so she could torture you, yes, but she isn’t stupid enough not to [[WhyDontYouJustShootHim immediately pull a gun]] and kill you the second she realizes you’re a threat to her. This is subverted if she [[spoiler: catches you out in the hallway though, as she tries to shoot you in the leg to disable you, but doesn’t realize that she may hit the femoral artery, which is how you die.]]
!Harold Lede
[[quoteright:200:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/harold_52.jpg]]
Celia’s husband, whom she hates passionately.
* AwfulWeddedLife: Mainly due to his adultery, if Celia’s word is anything to go by.
* CorruptCorporateExecutive: An adulterous sleaze who [[spoiler: willingly kills you to cover up his wife’s activities so his name isn’t tarnished.]]
* EveryoneHasStandards: Considering the other tropes on this page, you might not consider him the type to [[spoiler: call the police]] in this type of situation, but that is exactly what he does. Very, ''very '' downplayed considering his other actions though.
* ItsAllAboutMe: The first thing in his mind when he sees a person tied up by his wife is how it will reflect on him.
* JerkassHasAPoint: It’s for entirely the wrong reasons, mind you, but [[spoiler: he points out to Celia that keeping a person captive in an abandoned basement so you can torture them is going to look ''horrible '' if it gets out.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Mason's Route]]
!Mason Heiral
[[quoteright:225:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mason_1.jpg]]
The oldest of the buyers.
* ArbitrarilyLargeBankAccount: The other two obviously have money to burn if they’re just outright buying people, but Mason ups the price to ''760 '' of what has to be hundreds of thousands ''at least '' when he gets in a bidding war with Derek.
* BadPeopleAbuseAnimals: A deer gets caught in one of the snares he sets up for you, which doesn’t stop him from gutting the poor thing alive.
* BigBad: Of course, and unlike the other two, he is the only character in his route aside from the player character.
* ColourMotif: Green, reflecting his survivalist aesthetic and immense wealth.
* EvilOldFolks: Is visibly older than all of the other characters, which does nothing to dull his taste for hunting people like animals.
* FauxAffablyEvil: He comes across as shockingly genial and patient (especially if you’ve gone through the other routes first) right up until he pulls a crossbow and tries to kill you with it.
* NoNonsenseNemesis: What sets Mason apart from the other two is that he ''cannot '' be reasoned with. He can’t be satiated like Derek or talked down like Celia. He brought you out into the woods for a very specific purpose and he’s not going to be swayed from it.
* HuntingTheMostDangerousGame: Bought you specifically so he could hunt you for sport, snares and bear traps included.

!??? / [[spoiler:Lawrence Oleander]]
[[quoteright:425:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lawrece_bone_man.png]]
* CompleteImmortality: Described to 'have never fully found his way to death'.
* DemBones: ??? is completely skeletal, aside from the bits of rotten flesh and gore clinging to him and what appears to be a mass in his ribcage resembling a heart.
* SkullForAHead: Has a deer skull for a head.
* SinisterDeerSkull: Same as above, with one antler broken off. It also glows blue.
* WasOnceAMan: [[spoiler: Heavily implied to be Lawrence Oleander, a path candidate from ''VisualNovel/BoyfriendToDeath''.]]
