[[folder:Nerima Wrecking Crew]]
* FakeRealTurn: In the first story their "Dark Lords" act was just that, an act to get the Dark Kingdom and the Sailor Senshi to believe that they were dead so they'd stop hunting them. [[spoiler:But thanks to Beneda telling the captive monsters about them in the sequel in an attempt to boost morale, and their subsequent feats, the monsters decide to make them their new leaders, making them Dark Lords for ''real''.]]
* FireForgedFriends: In the first story they were at each other's throats like in the canon anime, but after being tricked and forced into fighting the Sailor Senshi and the Dark Kingdom, they ended up relying and depending on one another more than they realized. By the time ''Ascendant'' rolled around, whatever animosity they had for one another is completely gone and have since become TrueCompanions.
* TheCorrupter: Heroic examples, one and all. Sailor Pluto noted to her horror how quickly she and the Senshi were getting used to their zaniness.
* TheScapegoat: What the Wrecking Crew becoming after Unit Zero attacks Sailor Moon just as she and Ranma were about to make peace with each other. This causes the Senshi to focus their attention on them while the Crew scramble to find evidence to prove their innocence.
* SpannerInTheWorks: They become this to Tanizaki Kazuo in ''Ascendant''. Tanizaki had taken note of the upcoming confrontation between the NWC and the Senshi at the warehouse and chosen to get them involved in his plan to obtain Sailor Moon's power, something which would not have happened if he'd just let the confrontation play itself out. The end result of this is that his schemes and Tanizaki Heavy Industries get ripped apart piecemeal, as one martial artist warned Zhang would happen.

!Ranma Saotome/"Dark Lord Ranma"
* BerserkButton: His is someone he cares about to some degree or another getting injured or killed. He goes through this multiple times during the Interlude, again when the conflict against the Senshi reignites, and Tanizaki later tries to intentionally get said button stuck ''permanently.''
* BrandishmentBluff: Part and parcel of the [[KnowWhenToFoldEm Saotome Secret Technique.]] By hyping it up to opponents that don't know what it really entails, they think it's some sort of FinishingMove. Ranma uses that assumption to get that much more of a head start. [[spoiler: In the first story, this is the basis of his plan to throw the Senshi and Dark Kingdom off the Wrecking Crew's trail; in ''Ascendant'', Tanizaki is ''pissed'' when he falls for it himself.]]
* DemonicPossession: On the receiving end of this by [[spoiler:Ekim]], who used hair that Tanizaki cut off from him in their duel for a ritual that [[spoiler:lets Ekim control his body as well as use it to channel his magic]], in an attempt to further sour relations between Ranma and the Senshi. Ironically, [[spoiler:[[BeatTheCurseOutOfHim saving Ranma from this]] [[NiceJobFixingItVillain is what finally reconciles both sides.]]]]
* {{Determinator}}:
** He'll only [[KnowWhenToFoldEm run away if the situation is impossible to win]], such as [[spoiler:the initial assault on Tanizaki's HQ]], but otherwise, as long as he thinks there's even a small chance, he will ''never'' give up, no matter how bad it gets or what he has to do to save the day. If need be, it's even possible for him to [[spoiler: overcome his fear of cats]] this way.
* DidntSeeThatComing: Ranma's plan to subdue Eternal Sailor Moon failed because he wasn't expecting for Sailors Saturn and Pluto to take the situation seriously enough to appear. To be fair, Beneda told him from her old youma knowledge that Pluto's task as the Guardian of Time keeps her from interfering with most events, and Saturn is considered a last resort weapon with all of her destructive powers.
* TheDreaded: At least among [[spoiler:mercenaries]] skilled in martial arts. Take on magical girls with highly destructive powers that have trounced multiple world-ending threats? No problem as long as the money’s good. Take on Ranma and the Nerima Wrecking Crew? You must be out of your mind.
* EvilLaugh: Starts delving into this for his plan's purposes.
* EvilOverlord:
** His whole plan in the original hinges on making the Sailor Senshi and Dark Kingdom think he’s one. It goes ''[[CrazyEnoughToWork very]]'' well. Rather, ''[[GoneHorriblyRight too well.]]''
** The ''real'' punchline is that this comes full circle in ''Ascendant''; because of Beneda using the names of the Dark Lords of Nerima, along with [[MotivationalLie a slightly exaggerated list of feats,]] in a well-intentioned attempt to [[HopeBringer boost morale among captured and oppressed monsters]], and because of said "Dark Lords" [[BigDamnHeroes coming to the rescue of said monsters]] when [[MadScientist Metzger]] is about to genocide them, [[BecauseYouWereNiceToMe said monsters decide to]] [[UndyingLoyalty throw their lot behind the Dark Lords.]] Meaning that Ranma and Ryouga '''''[[BecomingTheBoast actually became real Dark Lords,]]''''' [[DramaticIrony and are left completely in the dark about it]] [[spoiler:until the aftermath of Tanizaki's defeat]].
* FightOffTheKryptonite: [[spoiler:When Shampoo's life is in danger, he manages to overcome his fear of cats for the moment to rush in and save her.]]
* {{Foil}}: To Tanizaki. Both are highly skilled martial artists willing to go to absurd lengths to achieve their goals. However, where Tanizaki is TheUnfettered and gets stuck in a SunkCostFallacy when his plans don’t work out as planned, Ranma is a GuileHero with clear, if flexible, morals who will KnowWhenToFoldEm when things go poorly.
* GrandTheftMe: [[spoiler: A brief victim of this, no thanks to Ekim.]]
* GuileHero: [[spoiler: Once he has [[BigBad Tanizaki's]] number and the Senshi's full support, he is able to call on all of his allies to systematically destroy his empire.]]
* HorribleJudgeOfCharacter: Despite his HilariouslyAbusiveChildhood and all the countless reasons to expect otherwise, Ranma believed that [[WhatYouAreInTheDark deep down]] Genma wasn’t a DirtyCoward. [[spoiler:Averted, in that he turns out to be right.]]
* KnowWhenToFoldEm: After the assault on Tanizaki's tower, [[spoiler: Usagi is near death, Sailor Pluto isn't in much better shape, and he's all alone against Tanizaki and a newly-empowered Unit Zero.]] Cue the Saotome Secret Technique.
* LargeHam: He enjoys pretending to be an evil villain a little too much. [[LampshadeHanging Ryouga calls him out on it.]]
* LegendaryInTheSequel: By the final chapter of ''The Dark Lords Strike Back'', Ranma's performance in the final battle with the Dark Kingdom has elevated him to this status. His [[RoaringRampageOfRevenge sheer fury]] and [[CurbStompBattle the result of it]] actually made him into a bona fide martial arts legend in the rewound timeline; first among the fighters who were in that battle, and then in martial arts circles the world over. Still in full effect by ''Ascendant'', to the point that when [[TheDragon Zhang]] [[spoiler:tries to recruit martial artists to handle the ones from Nerima]], many of them, including ones that are [[UngratefulBastard selfish]] or [[SuicidalOverconfidence daring]] enough to take on [[PersonOfMassDestruction Sailor]] [[AllLovingHero Moon]], balk or laugh in his face at the idea of fighting [[TheDreaded Ranma.]]
* TheMatchmaker:
** Ranma tries to be this at least, but his attempts to pair Ryouga with someone don’t work very well.
** In turn, [[spoiler:the monsters from the Dark Kingdom saved from Tanizaki]] turn into a whole ''army'' of these for him and the other Dark Lords. [[ItMakesSenseInContext They want to set him up with]] [[spoiler:the Senshi, starting with [[IncompatibleOrientation Uranus.]]]]
* MirrorCharacter: With [[BigBad Tanizaki]], as they both derive the greatest joy from the thrill of a challenge. In fact, they're so similar in their thinking that Ranma [[StrangeMindsThinkAlike consistently figures out and predicts his intentions,]] to the point that ''Sailor Pluto'' goes to ''him'' for insight on Tanizaki's moves. In turn, although he intellectually knows that Sailor Moon is the greatest objective threat to his scheme, Tanizaki consistently regards [[WildCard Ranma]] as one of, if not the, most dangerous factors among his enemies. [[WhatYouAreInTheDark The key difference between them is]] that Ranma is not nearly ruthless or megalomaniac enough to go around hurting so many people just to get his thrills, and [[KnowWhenToFoldEm knows when it's time to take a bow.]]
* NoHoldsBarredBeatdown:
** Delivers one to Jadeite when the general hurts [[ChildhoodFriend Ukyo]], who had been rushing to help him. It's a big contributor to Jadeite's GameBreakingInjury that incapacitates him for the rest of the fic.
** In ''Ascendant'', when he sees Shampoo [[TakingTheBullet jumping in front of a surprise Dead Scream meant for Akane,]] he ''completely loses his shit'' and beats Pluto up with such brutality that [[spoiler:Sailor Moon has to go full Princess Mode to stop him from potentially killing Pluto.]]
** He ''tries'' to do this to [[BigBad Tanizaki]] when he [[spoiler:tries to kill Shampoo]], but Tanizaki is actually skilled enough to hold him at bay in this case.
* OneManArmy: Single-handedly annihilates more Youma than any other fighter during the entire Dark Kingdom assault. Then, [[spoiler:while in full RoaringRampageOfRevenge mode,]] he utterly ''decimates'' the horde that had routed their army with an even bigger version of the very FinishingMove he used to beat Herb, turning the entire CurbStompBattle ''on'' the Dark Kingdom.
* OneWingedAngel: '''Believe it or not.''' [[spoiler:After having broken his own leg to prevent Ekim from using his body to kill Naru and her mother, Ekim decides to channel the taint of the Nameless One directly through Ranma's body and transforms his body into a winged, tentacled and red-eyed version of Ranma that he uses to fight both the Senshi and Ranma's friends.]]
* OrderVsChaos: The Chaos to Usagi's Order.
* OutOfCharacterAlert: Genma has a hard time understanding where Ranma's sudden change of attitude came from given that he can't (or doesn't want to) remember the Lost Year.
* PartingWordsRegret: [[spoiler:His last words to Genma were that he was disappointed in him. He was clearly shellshocked upon finding out his father died saving him and the others.]]
* PeoplePuppet: [[spoiler: Ekim's spell gives him control over Ranma's body when he goes to sleep, though Sailor Moon's intervention and Ranma's own stubbornness eventually combine to put a stop to it.]]
* ThePowerOfActing: According to Ryouga this is Ranma’s preferred method of getting his way.
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: Basically anytime his friends get seriously hurt or are in real danger of death, but the most prominent and terrifying example is in ''The Dark Lords Strike Back'', starting when [[spoiler:he's forced to watch Ryouga sacrifice himself to let their army continue its advance]], and then reinforced when [[spoiler:he jumps into a youma horde, looking for Akane, only to find her and the other fiancees' mangled corpses.]]
* ShroudedInMyth: As a result of being LegendaryInTheSequel, there are a ''lot'' of rumors, both accurate and farcical, surrounding him in martial arts circles, including one that states that ''he's'' the one who beat [[EldritchAbomination Metallia.]]
* TookALevelInBadass: Between the Lost Year and the start of the sequel he's apparently done so several times over. Happosai in particular notes that Ranma used to beat him only when he made a big mistake, but lately he's been picking up on the little mistakes as well.
* UnwantedHarem: Even larger now than it was before, including at least one [[WingedHumanoid phoenix girl]] and another rich girl, all results of the changes to the timeline caused by the return of the memories of the final battle with the Dark Kingdom. [[spoiler:And now some youma want to ''[[TheMatchmaker help]]'' him by adding ''the Sailor Senshi''.]]
* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: As Ranma was talking to Kuno she noticed that Akari had finally arrived in Nerima and went to intercept her. Unfortunately she was in the middle of giving Kuno dating tips so he followed and ended up defeating Katsunishiki before Ryouga could.
* WeirdnessMagnet: To the point that when Zhang tries to hire elite martial artists to fight him, several just say that any plan with Ranma involved will go awry and to just drop the whole matter.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes:
** He's still not over his fear of cats, leading to some interesting encounters with Luna and Artemis. Whenever they're in the area, the Nerimans go out of their way to remove them from the premises, posthaste. As a result, the Senshi think of this as [[KickTheDog proof that they're evil to the core.]]
** PlayedForDrama twice in ''Ascendant''. When Ranma first [[TheReveal tries to explain the truth behind the "Dark Lords of Nerima"]], [[SpannerInTheWorks Luna]]'s appearance shreds his composure, making him look even more suspicious to the Senshi. Later on, when they confront Tanizaki at his HQ, he pulls out a cat and hangs onto it to keep Ranma from interfering with Tanizaki's [[CurbStompBattle one-sided slaughter]] of Pluto, Tuxedo Kamen and Shampoo. However, when [[spoiler:Shampoo is about to be killed,]] Ranma [[FightOffTheKryptonite actually manages to overcome his fear momentarily]] and steps in to stop Tanizaki.
** In stark contrast, the reveal of his fear to the Senshi is PlayedForLaughs for all of its worth. Suffice to say that Ranma using Sailor Pluto as a tree is just the beginning.
** Additionally, the extreme nature of his fear appears to be highly attractive to [[SealedEvilInACan Melinoe.]] Time will tell if this goes anywhere, however.
* YouKilledMyFather: [[spoiler:He becomes absolutely ''livid'' after learning Tanizaki murdered Genma in cold blood. It takes Shampoo and Akane to calm him down before he does something reckless.]]

!Ryouga Hibiki/"Dark Lord Ryouga"
* BackToBackBadasses: With Sailor Saturn, right after their fight at that. [[spoiler:Slowly turning into a BattleCouple, too.]]
* BadLiar: His attempt to explain why rain is bad for him is ''really'' transparent. The look Beneda gave Ryouga after he tried to claim that he didn’t have a Jusenkyo curse says it all.
--> '''Beneda''': ''Of course. Who would ever suspect you were hiding something like that?''
* BeyondTheImpossible: During the timeskip, Ryouga used a ForbiddenTechnique to destroy armor that was completely unbreakable through any other method (and explicitly believed to be unbreakable ''period''), and one-shotting the wearer who had been effectively invincible up to that point. [[spoiler:He repeats this feat, albeit with more effort, against the unkillable Wyrmspawn.]]
* BullyHunter: At least when Beneda is concerned, [[spoiler: and maybe Sailor Saturn too.]]
* DangerousForbiddenTechnique: His "''Tora no Seishin''", which essentially turns his whole body into fuel for his ki. It ''massively'' boosts his power, to the point that an unnamed past BigBad that was effectively invincible due to his magical armor and had ''everyone'' on the ropes was [[OneHitKill killed with a single punch]] that dented the chest plate, and thus collapsed the enemy's rib cage. However, the technique can't be turned off and will not stop until it has wrung every last bit of life from his body, so using it ''will'' kill him. The only reason he's still around to explain it to Saturn is because Shampoo [[GreaterNeedThanMine used the last wish of a wish-granting flute she obtained during that incident]] to [[BackFromTheDead wish for his revival.]] The reason it's forbidden, aside from the obvious, is because his friends, especially Ranma and Akane, made him swear to never use it ever again. As evidenced by his talk with Saturn, he ''is'' willing to use it [[GodzillaThreshold if a situation is bad enough.]] [[spoiler: He uses it to kill the Wyrmspawn, but Hotaru is able to bring him back.]]
* {{Determinator}}: Like Ranma, Ryouga ''absolutely'' refuses to give up. Even if it doesn't look like there's any good options, he'll keep fighting out of stubborn unwillingness to give up. This is at least half of why his MadeOfIron body is such an asset to him and a danger to his foes. He is very willing to fight to the bitter end, just like Ranma, [[HeroicSacrifice and has done so several times.]] In fact, his stubbornness actually results in him coming the closest anyone so far has come to incapacitating [[spoiler:Unit Zero]] in a real fight, as [[spoiler:he nearly succeeds in choking her into unconsciousness.]]
* EvilOverlord: Unlike Ranma, [[LargeHam who actually has fun with the gig]], Ryouga thinks it's a stupid and risky idea, but since no one else could come up with a better plan he grudgingly went along with it. And similarly to Ranma, he also [[LockedOutOfTheLoop has no idea that]] both of them have become ''actual'' Dark Lords after [[spoiler:gaining the support of the captured monsters.]]
* GameBreakingInjury: The aftermath of his duel with Sailor Saturn, including a devastating laser to the shoulder from Saturn over a misunderstanding and then damage from an EnemyMine against a Synth rush, lead to a gamut of such horrifyingly crippling injuries that not even Tofu can guarantee he'll ever recover fully. However, Shampoo [[CrazyEnoughToWork comes up with a plan]] that lets Ryouga and her recover from their injuries good as new, [[spoiler:courtesy of Sailor Saturn herself.]]
* GodzillaThreshold: He swore to his friends that he would never use the ''[[DangerousForbiddenTechnique Tora no Seishin]]'' again. If they ever get into a situation bad enough for him to seriously consider breaking a promise to them, then that technique also becomes an option on the table. See above to know ''why'' it's this trope.
* HappilyMarried: [[spoiler:With Hotaru, during the final chapter's time skip.]]
* HeartbrokenBadass: After he loses his chance to be with Akari again.
* HeelRealization: After his MisplacedRetribution against Ranma for Kuno defeating Katsunishiki, he was disgusted with himself for almost beating in the face of an opponent who wasn’t fighting back in. This caused him to realize how much he uses Ranma as crutch to justify his actions.
* HeroicSacrifice: Thrice, and [[BackFromTheDead he comes back from each thanks to someone else's wish]]:
** In ''The Dark Lords Strike Back'', he charges a ranged youma emplacement (the youma equivalent of a machine gun bunker) that has turned their army's only way forward into a killing corridor. His death is ''[[RasputinianDeath extremely brutal]]'', but he manages to get close enough, [[HeroicResolve on sheer willpower and stubbornness]], to [[FingerPokeOfDoom tap the emplacement's outer wall]] and throw the youma into disarray, leaving a fatal opening that the martial artist army takes with vengeful gusto. This death is undone by Sailor Moon's [[IJustWantToBeNormal wish to return to normalcy.]]
** In the NoodleIncident that happened in India in the new timeline, Ryouga used a DangerousForbiddenTechnique that allowed him to OneHitKill the BigBad of that incident, an otherwise InvincibleVillain due to his magical armor, at the cost of his life. In that incident, Shampoo came to possess a magic flute that grants three ([[JackassGenie messed up]]) wishes. The third wish, [[GreaterNeedThanMine noted to be the only one that was completely selfless]], successfully revives him with no penalty. Though it saved the day, he was made to swear to Ranma and Akane that he would never use the technique again.
** [[spoiler: When Tanizaki unleashes the [[TheJuggernaut Wyrmspawn]], Ryouga is [[GodzillaThreshold driven to use the Tora no Seishin]] in order to kill it. Fortunately, [[HealingHands Sailor Saturn]] has been fighting right along side him the entire time.]]
* IHaveThisFriend: Uses this after Beneda reveals her deception to him and the others to empathize with her and talk about how he occasionally uses his P-chan form to get closer to Akane.
* IndyPloy: This is how Ryouga saved himself from the Darkmistress, by getting her to knock him into the koi pond to activate his curse and hope that she’s too confused to notice the piglet.
* IResembleThatRemark: [[spoiler:When Sailor Pluto flatly states that Ranma and Ryoga's scheme to fool both the Inners and the Dark Kingdom was the dumbest plan she ever heard, Ryoga immediately takes offense. He claims that he and Ranma came up with plans that were ''way'' dumber.]]
* ItsPersonal: Has it in for Sailor Uranus for threatening Beneda. By the time the Nerima Wrecking Crew and the Senshi make peace, he's since dropped it. It helps that he saved Haruka from [[spoiler:a fatal gunshot to the heart.]]
* KickTheDog: In-universe example. Him punting Luna out of Nerima was enough to enrage Sailor Moon, but it was really to keep the Moon Cat away from the ailurophobic Ranma.
* MadeOfIron: In both stories he takes more damage than he ever did in canon, [[{{Determinator}} and still keeps fighting]]. He even takes the full brunt of Uranus' World Shaking, an attack that has successfully [[OneHitKill One Hit Killed]] a lot of the Senshi's enemies.
** He's one of a very short list of people who have survived an encounter with ''[[PersonOfMassDestruction Sailor Saturn]]'', though both were holding back at the time. Even then that fight, one last crippling hit from Saturn and the melee with a swarm of Synths very nearly [[GameBreakingInjury took him out of the fic as a battle asset]], at least until [[CrazyEnoughToWork Shampoo's scheme]] solved that.
* ObliviousToHisOwnDescription: While lost, Ryouga ended up hearing Hotaru’s love revelation and was unaware that she was talking about him.
* PersonOfMassDestruction: [[DownplayedTrope Downplayed]], but Ryoga's the go-to guy in the Nerima Wrecking Crew if you want something broken ''now'' (in part thanks to the [[FingerPokeOfDoom Bakusai Tenketsu]]). [[spoiler: To the point that when Mousse locates Tanizaki's SoulJar and determines it's nigh unbreakable, Ranma just tosses the thing to Ryoga without a second thought.]]
* RelationshipUpgrade: [[spoiler:He and Hotaru finally admit their feelings for each other while recovering from killing the Wyrmspawn.]]
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: His one-sided beat-down on Sailor Uranus could be viewed as this. [[spoiler: Also played brutally straight after Davidson tries to kill Sailor Saturn.]]
* SecondLove: Sort of. [[spoiler: It's implied that he's falling for Sailor Saturn after the many fallouts with his other previous love interests. They officially become an item in chapter 17.]]
* SeenItAll: Used to the sheer chaos of Nerima, the way he nonchalantly rebukes [[OnlySaneMan Mercury]] by essentially telling her that she hasn't seen what actually passes for "crazy" in Nerima reeks of this.
* SelfDeprecation: Ryouga was never the best at self-esteem, but the BreakingSpeech from Death Phantom in the flashback of ''Ascendant'' really messes him up emotionally to the point that [[spoiler: when he overhears Sailor Saturn admitting her love for him to Akane and Shampoo and complimenting his NiceGuy attributes, he thinks it must be someone else and becomes jealous of the 'lucky bastard'. He finally gets over the Death Phantom's comments by the time the final battle with Tanizaki runs its course and gives a pretty epic rebuttal (even if Tanizaki has no clue what he's talking about) before destroying the guy's SoulJar.]]
* TakingTheBullet:
** Took the full force of Mars' Fire Soul attack to protect Beneda.
** Later, he does it ''literally'' for Professor Tomoe, though in this case the fact that he's in piglet form and using his giant ki projection means he's not ''actually'' taking any damage. It does give [[PersonOfMassDestruction Hotaru]] the opening she needs to [[CurbStompBattle transform and turn the tables,]] however.
* TokenGoodTeammate: In ''Ascendant'', the Sailor Senshi theorize that Ryouga is this among the Dark Lords, taking note of the more honorable qualities he'd been displaying (such as his interactions with the Outer Senshi, most notably Saturn) and comparing them to Ranma's more underhanded scheming (ex. Deploying Konatsu to remove Luna and Artemis from play).
* WhatWouldXDo: Thinks this while trying to get Sailor Moon to attack him with her tiara, trying to think about how Ranma would do it. With [[IShallTauntYou Ranma]] as his model, ''it works'':
-->'''Ryouga''': ''Hey you! [[ACupAngst Flat-chested girl]]!''

!Mousse
* AcquiredPoisonImmunity: Trains himself to resist a secret and extremely deadly poison used exclusively by Zhang. [[spoiler:It's a practice common to those of the Four Assassination Arts that he discontinued out of desire to bury his past, but resumed upon encountering Zhang again.]] [[LampshadeHanging He himself notes]] that for such a powerful poison, it's too short notice to immunize himself in any meaningful way to it. [[spoiler:It's still enough to stop him from dying in minutes, and it makes all the difference.]]
* TheAtoner: [[spoiler:Back when Mousse was still training in Assassination Arts in an attempt to woo Shampoo, his final initiation involved killing his sparing partner whom had grown on him. Ranma insists that Mousse was just a kid back then and didn't know any better, but Mousse still feels the guilt in what he had to do to survive]].
* BlindWeaponMaster: Starting in the interlude and expanded upon in the sequel, Mousse is slowly becoming one as his vision deteriorates to the point he truly can't see.
* BlindWithoutEm: The reason it's meaningful to list it here is because its critical to [[spoiler:how he defeats the Darkmistress, as it lets him completely ignore her illusion powers.]]
* CoolSword: One in a white sheathe emblazoned with the Chinese symbol ''four'' which is apparently a masterwork of swords, [[spoiler: and which Mousse uses to CleanCut the Darkmistress]].
** AudibleSharpness: Beneda can literally hear it as it's swung.
** TragicKeepsake: [[spoiler: The sword is also something given to him for completing his training in the Four Arts, left behind by Zhang after Mousse ended up killing his at the time only friend. He ditches it before their final duel when he decides he doesn't need it anymore]].
* DisabilitySuperpower: He’s been training a way of sensing through Ki, essentially giving him the ability to see everyone no matter what obstacles are in the way, and uses things like smoke bombs since they don't affect him but hinder his foes.
* GameBreakingInjury: [[spoiler:The aftermath of his duel with Zhang at Tanizaki Heavy Industries leaves him practically comatose, and even with the Senshi aiding in his recovery, it's not until Zhang tries to kill Usagi at the Dark Kingdom that he finally recovers.]]
* HandicappedBadass: He's losing his sight and has been developing another means to perceive the world, relying entirely on his ki senses to give him an idea of his surroundings.
* TheMole: Cologne initially sends him to join the group protecting Beneda to watch her and eliminate her if circumstances favored it. He chooses to warn Beneda about Cologne instead.
* PlatonicLifePartners: [[spoiler:With Minako in the DistantFinale.]]
* RazorFloss: Has added this to his arsenal in the years since the first story, [[spoiler:using it to finally overcome Zhang]].
--> '''Mousse:''' [[spoiler: "Hidden Weapons Ultimate Art: Dhaaga Talavaar. A weapon that remains hidden even after being drawn."]]
* WhenAllYouHaveIsAHammer: Mousse built his entire style around ''one'' of the Four Arts of Assassination, Hidden Weapons.

!Akane Tendo
* BeyondTheImpossible: The speech she gives Shampoo during the confrontation with the Nameless One positively radiates this. To her, if making sense means losing a friend, ''forget that.''
* FireForgedFriends: The reason she thinks Shampoo won’t actually betray her, as they fought together during the original "Dark Lords" incident, then fought and ''died'' fighting alongside with and protecting each other and Ranma's other paramours during the invasion of the Dark Kingdom.
* FirstGirlWins: She and Ranma have admitted their feelings to each other and intend to marry.
* OddFriendship: With Shampoo, of all people. It's to the point that the person who most openly shows concern for her in ''Ascendant'' is her, ''not'' Mousse (who, while never failing to show his worry, is also busy dealing with his resurfaced past in the form of Zhang).
* RelationshipUpgrade: By Ascendant, she and Ranma are seriously talking about trying to marry again... once they can sort out the fiancée mess. [[spoiler:In chapter 19 of Ascendant, she finally talks Shampoo into joining them in a three-way relationship.]]
* TookALevelInBadass: Thanks to Shampoo's training.

!Shampoo/"Dark Queen Shampoo"
* ChainmailBikini: Wears one in her guise as "Dark Queen Shampoo." Sailor Mercury wonders [[LampshadeHanging what exactly it's supposed to protect]].
* CrazyEnoughToWork: She and Ryouga down for the count, with both having too many debilitating injuries to recover in time to help, and the latter with a high risk of permanent crippling? No worries! [[spoiler:Let's go find [[HealingHands Hotaru]] and pretend to be normal, if abused small animals and have her heal us!]] '''And it works!'''
* DeathSeeker: After it becomes clear who Ranma's heart lies with, Shampoo deliberately tries to kill herself against the Nameless One's forces, thinking that no one could blame her for not returning to the village with him if she were killed in battle. Akane has none of this, though, and takes the steps needed to counteract her behavior.
* GreaterNeedThanMine: With a wish-granting flute in hand, Shampoo made two wishes for her herself and [[JackassGenie the flute granted them, but twisted them.]] By the climax of [[NoodleIncident the India incident]], she used her third and last wish to save Ryouga, who had just doomed himself with his ''[[DangerousForbiddenTechnique Tora no Seishin]]'', and it is speculated that precisely because the wish was for the sake of another, it was granted with no ironic twist or foul play of any kind.
* GuileHero: This series really underlines Shampoo's cunning and intelligence, often overlooked in fanfics, as she comes up with plans worthy of Ranma himself. She even successfully fools Sailor Mercury at one point.
* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler:Subverted. Shampoo refuses Tanizaki's offer and reengages him fully expecting to die. However, Ranma manages to fight off his fear and strikes Tanizaki away before he can actually land the killing blow.]]
* IWantMyBelovedToBeHappy: Not said directly, but half of her motivations to train Akane and [[spoiler:her attempted sacrifice]] all-but-spell it out.
* IWasJustPassingThrough: This was Shampoo’s excuse to Akane for her HeroicSacrifice. However it was such a [[BlatantLies Blatant Lie]] that not even she could finish it.
%% * Jerkass: Shampoo started training Akane this way. While fighting she insulted Akane’s skill allowing her to figure out what she was doing wrong.
%% --> '''Shampoo''': ''Why Akane thank Shampoo? Shampoo only beat up rival, and give insult. If Akane figure out something from hearing insult, that not Shampoo concern. But if Akane enjoy being beat up and hearing insult... then can come challenge Shampoo at Nekohanten. Shampoo accept, any time.''
* LockedOutOfTheLoop: [[spoiler: In regards to Mousse's past]].
* TheMentor: For Akane, of all people. Its a combination of [[FireForgedFriends coming to respect her due to going down fighting together]] with Ranma's other paramours during the Dark Kingdom Invasion, and [[IWantMyBelovedToBeHappy a desire to spare Ranma the pain of watching Akane die.]]
* MortonsFork: Amazon laws dictate that she marry Ranma, but since Ranma's chosen Akane, the only options left to her are to either kill Akane, which would enrage Ranma and ruin any chance she might have had, or return to her people in disgrace and face the consequences. She decides the best option is to remove herself from the equation (see DeathSeeker).
* OddFriendship: With Akane. See Akane's entry for more elaboration.
* TheRival: For Ranma's affections. However, she is ''acutely'' aware that she's already lost. She's just pretending she hasn't to avoid dealing with the implications it has for her in regards to tribal laws and her own feelings.
* SelfSacrificeScheme: Keeps trying to set one up in ''Ascendant'', but Akane won't hear any of that.
* StepfordSmiler: Sliding in this direction, now that she knows Ranma’s chosen Akane.
* TakingTheBullet: [[spoiler: Pushes Akane out of the way of Sailor Pluto's Dead Scream, taking the full brunt of it.]] It ''really'' [[BerserkButton sets Ranma off.]]
* UnderestimatingBadassery: Rei took the way Shampoo spoke as a sign that she would be easily manipulated.
* WhatYouAreInTheDark: During the confrontation with Tanizaki, as Ranma is paralyzed by his fear of cats and with Pluto and Tuxedo Kamen down, only Shampoo is left to fight him. [[WeCanRuleTogether He offers to Shampoo to]] [[spoiler:make sure Ranma will be all hers when he remakes the world using Unit Zero, going as far to ensure he'll have no link whatsoever to Akane]], so long as Shampoo walks away. It is in Tanizaki's character to actually keep his word, and the method involved will ensure that absolutely no one but Tanizaki himself will know of their deal. Shampoo ''does'' hesitate for a while, but:
-->'''Shampoo:''' ''[[ShutUpHannibal Suit-man can take offer and stick up ass]]. Is not one thing Shampoo want from suit-man.''

!Ukyo Kuonji
* BigDamnHeroes: Sort of. She arrives during Ranma's fight with Jadeite just as he's preparing a finishing blow. Jadeite turns and knocks her out but the distraction is all Ranma needs to get back in and start pummeling the dark general [[NoHoldsBarredBeatdown with a vengeance.]]
* UnluckyChildhoodFriend: Much as she may try to deny it, by the sequel, she's pretty much lost to Akane. She comes to grips with it after Ekim's subterfuge is thwarted.

!Tatewaki Kuno
* TheDeterminator: Hordes of Youma will not keep him down.
* [[HappilyMarried Happily Engaged]]: [[spoiler: To Akari]].
* HeelRealization: [[spoiler: Right before he dies, Alane kisses him, which causes him to realize that she never had ''any'' feelings for him and just what a fool he's been]].
* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler: In the interlude he dies saving Akane from a youma attack]].
* LargeHam: Is in rare form, much to Tuxedo Kamen's annoyance.

!Kodachi Kuno
* FreakOut: More or less lives in one after the Lost Year, [[spoiler: until Sailor Moon heals her]].
* SelectiveObliviousness: She refuses to acknowledge her suppressed memories, which begins to erode her sanity. However, Sailor Moon's healing magic eventually forces her to confront the memories and accept them, which also helps restore her sanity.
* SanitySlippage: As a result of the above, and also now on the road to recovery.
* SpannerInTheWorks: Has played this role in both stories. [[spoiler: First when she tried stealing the bowl that was serving as their “magic artifact”, and in the sequel when she tries to attack the Sailor Senshi]].

!Beneda
* BecomingTheMask: Her whole introduction arc is this.
* BoisterousWeakling: She started out as a low level Youma who couldn’t even assume human form, yet still taunted the Senshi when first confronted by them despite being scared to death.
* CuteMonsterGirl: If you didn't know any better, [[http://browse.deviantart.com/art/Commission-Lost-and-Found-136625460 would you guess what she is]]?
* DeadpanSnarker: She has her moments.
* DontYouDarePityMe: Beneda did this at the apex of her HeelFaceTurn, feeling guilty over those spending their time and energies protecting her. After Ryouga pulled a HeroicSacrifice, it reached its breaking point when they tried to assure her that it wasn’t her fault, causing her to snap and give them a TheReasonYouSuckSpeech.
* DoubleTake: This was her reaction when Ryouga told her he didn’t kill Crusath.
* EnergyAbsorption: Aside from her natural ability as a youma, she picks up the ''Happo Fifty-Yen Satsu'' from Hinako after the first story's events.
* FuumaShuriken: Can form these on her hands and use them as projectiles. Prior to the Interlude these were her only real weapons.
* GoodFeelsGood: Living in a dark cave with an army of monsters under the thumb of an evil queen and inevitably experiencing death via MagicalGirl, or having genuine friends and becoming a trained medic in the employ of a skilled doctor? In the long run, there was just no comparison in Beneda's mind.
* HeelFaceTurn: She comes to generally appreciate the Wrecking Crew for coming to her aid despite attempting to manipulate them, even going as far as declaring herself an "insane" resident of Nerima when preparing to fight the Darkmistress.
* HeroKiller: Played with. [[spoiler:After Tanizaki's final assault, she thinks back to how it all began and notes that in a strange way, she fulfilled her original mission by saving Sailor Moon's life.]]
* HotForTeacher: Her crush on Dr. Tofu, who’s been training her in medicine. Particularly notable since as a youma, she previously couldn't understand how anyone could be attracted to humans.
* HumanityEnsues: [[spoiler:After Cologne douses her with water from the Jusenkyo Spring of Drowned Girl.]]
* {{Irony}}: See HeroKiller.
* InfectiousInsanity: After associating with people who are barely slowed down by hopeless odds, she finds that her thoughts are starting to lean in this direction when she confronts the Darkmistress for the final time...
-->''Yes, it's insane. To think that I could actually fight her... it's completely insane. But you'd better watch out when you go up against someone from Nerima... because we're all insane here.''
* ItsAllMyFault: After Ryouga is grievously injured via Sailor Mars' Fire Soul, she starts feeling very guilty over the fact that she was the cause of the Senshi targeting the Wrecking Crew in the first place.
* TheMedic: Accepts an offer to become Dr. Tofu's apprentice at the end of the first story, and serves this role alongside him during the Interlude. [[spoiler:Later, the training she receives ultimately saves Sailor Moon's life after Tanizaki delivers a pressure point-based attack that would've gradually killed her otherwise.]]
* ThatManIsDead: [[spoiler: After using Jusenkyo water turn her human, Cologne tells the Sailor Senshi that the youma is dead, and Beneda begins her life as a human girl]].
* MundaneUtility: Beneda using her ability to turn her hand into a shuriken to cut vegetables.
* MysticalWhiteHair: Her steel-like hair as a youma translates to silver hair [[spoiler:as a human.]]
* PressurePoint: Has learned to take advantage of these as an attack option after spending several years training under Dr. Tofu, though she's quick to admit that she's far from Konatsu's level in this regard.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Delivers a short but poignant one to Metallia when she awakens:
-->"''Damn you!'' I'm not yours anymore! I'll ''never'' be yours! It's ''your'' fault [[spoiler: Ryouga]] is dead... you and your ''damned crazy war!''"
* RefugeInAudacity: Her desperate plan to keep Metzger from killing Ryo. She turns human and goes to convince the mad scientist that she's a deadly assassin on Zhang's level, bluffing for everything she's worth.
* SexySoakedShirt: [[spoiler: When Cologne hits her with the Spring of Drowned Girl water, she turns into a stark naked girl. Cologne throws a white shirt on her, which since she's soaking wet, turns slightly transparent and clings to her in interesting ways.]]
* StartingANewLife: Becomes a permanent resident of Nerima after Ranma's plan succeeds in throwing the Dark Kingdom and Sailor Senshi off her trail, studying medicine under Dr. Tofu. This sticks even in the face of [[spoiler:Sailor Moon's reality-warping wish, which otherwise returns almost everyone else to where they'd been a year prior.]]
* SupportingProtagonist: Much of the first story revolves around her and how her actions affect the characters around her, but Ranma and Sailor Moon do most of the fighting.
* TookALevelInBadass: Her time with the NWC had a profound effect on Beneda. When confronted by the Darkmistress she fought on, confident that at least the others would avenge her death. Luckily, she was rescued by Mousse. She later learns the ''Happo Fifty-Yen Satsu'', combining it with her natural EnergyAbsorption abilties.
* TookALevelInKindness: Starts the story as a Dark Kingdom youma willing to deceive and manipulate others if it meant getting back in Jadeite and Beryl's good graces. Ends it as [[spoiler:a part-time human]] residing peacefully in Nerima, happy to have made genuine friends and being forthright and honest in her dealings with others. In addition, spending several months [[spoiler:as a human]] gives her a better understanding of the concept of morality by the time of the Interlude.
* VillainousBSOD: As time goes on after she begins misleading the Wrecking Crew, she starts experiencing more and more what it's like to have people care about her well-being. After Ryouga is injured while protecting her she becomes fearful over his well-being, feels guilty over how things had gotten to that point and turning hysterical at the thought of it all.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: Has a great fear of heights, and panics during her first plane ride out of fear of falling from the sky.
* YouCantGoHomeAgain: She realizes this after her attempt to get back in the Dark Kingdom's good graces backfires after Ranma and Ryouga topple Jadeite.

!Konatsu
* BattleButler: Serves as one to Ukyo.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Beneda reflects on this when she notes it's easy to forget just how dangerous he can be.
* FragileSpeedster: His focus is on blinding speed, agility and skill. He lacks the raw strength or staying power of most of his allies, so he relies on precise strikes, redirection, sneak attacks and infiltration.
* SilkHidingSteel: Dresses and acts like a demure kunoichi, is capable of going toe-to-toe with nearly any foe they come up against.
* TheSneakyGuy: He can get the drop on and disable most people without then even noticing he's there. Notably demonstrated in the interlude when Loofah notices Youma spellcasters seeming to vanish with no explanation, until she finds out he's been killing them. After that she has an easier time keeping track of it.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Sailor Senshi]]

* ExpectingSomeoneTaller: This is Gosunkugi's reaction upon meeting Sailor Moon, Mars, and Mercury. He originally saw the Senshi as goddess-like beings of great power and wisdom. He was not expecting short, middle school-aged girls who were younger than him.
* HeroAntagonist: In the first story and the first half-dozen chapters of ''Ascendant''. They're trying to stop the Dark Kingdom at every turn, and Sailor Moon in particular wants the war against the "Dark Lords" to end peaceably, but they're still one of the two groups the Wrecking Crew have to face if they want to keep Beneda alive. The rematch after the TimeSkip was due to the Senshi being concerned that Ranma might still have designs on world conquest.

!Tsukino Usagi/Sailor Moon
* AllLovingHero [[HeroAntagonist Antagonist]]: Let's just leave it at that, shall we?
* ABirthdayNotABreak: The whole situation in ''Ascendant'' began with her friends getting ready for her birthday.
* BadBadActing / BadLiar: Face it, Usagi will never be an undercover agent.
* BerserkButton: Ryouga calling her [[ACupAngst flat-chested]] warrants her strongest attack.
** Spacial mention goes to when Ryouga threw Luna into the sky. It pissed her off enough to charge at him with her ''fists'', which she had never done in the anime or the manga.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Usagi is the epitome of purity and kindheartedness and is never comfortable with the idea of killing anyone. However, [[spoiler:she makes a special exception for Tanizaki after everything he's done]].
* BornLucky / TheFool: Lampshaded a couple of times:
-->'''Luna''': They'll find a way to turn the tables. Between Sailor Mars' courage, and Sailor Mercury's intelligence, and Sailor Moon's...Sailor Moon's...
-->'''Jadeite''': Luck?
-->'''Luna''': (''resignedly'') Luck.
** Sailor Pluto, thinking about all the changes for the positive Neo-Queen Serenity has made by sending Chibi-Usa back, can't tell if the queen has some source of knowledge Pluto isn't aware of or if she just has more dumb luck than any ten people.
** During her fight with Shampoo, she keeps tripping and stumbling at just the right moment to avoid Shampoo's blows. [[spoiler: It doesn't work so well against Akane.]]
* CharacterDevelopment: The first time Ranma saw her she was a scared little girl who was literally shaking in her boots. Three years later, he's surprised to see her as a calm and brave young woman who certainly deserves to be called a queen.
* DidntSeeThatComing: Sailor Moon fighting Ranma, [[spoiler:who's possessed by Ekim]], tricks him into demolishing a fire hydrant since she knows Ryouga and Mousse have Jusenkyo curses, and she figures a small animal would be easier than a powerful martial artist to deal with. She's taken aback when he turns into a girl instead. [[UnfazedEveryman She takes it in stride]].
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: Gives off this reaction after learning that Ranma and his friends did what they did just to protect Beneda and was attacking them for it. She, Ami, and Rei personally apologize to Ranma and Ryouga for causing them trouble.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: It says something about how vile Tanizaki is that she ''disintegrates'' him when they meet for the last time. [[spoiler:Granted, his death doesn't stick.]]
* OrderVsChaos: The Order to Ranma's Chaos.
* SmugSmiler: Sailor Pluto did not like how happy Sailor Moon was when they found out that the Dark Lords were GoodAllAlong.
* SquishyWizard: Particularly demonstrated when she confronts Tanizaki again; [[spoiler: she doesn't get into melee range and just uses all her power to incinerate his very atoms. Unfortunately, he doesn't stay dead and he quickly closes on her and disables her with ease using a few pressure point attacks that leave her near death]].
* SueDonym: When she comes to Ukyo's Okonomiyaki shop, she introduces herself as Usag...Usami. Yeah, Usami. Later, she, Ami and Rei go there again, where Ukyo addresses her as Usami. It takes Usagi a moment to remember that's supposed to be her. Ami actually has to choke back laughter while Rei just gives her an incredulous look. The interlude reveals they go back every now and then, with Usagi sometimes remembering to use her alias.
* TakeAThirdOption: When faced with the possibility of killing Unit Zero to take back the Silver Crystal, [[spoiler:she instead breaks it in half and gives her clone one of the halves.]]
* WideEyedIdealist: Her fellow Senshi believe that it wouldn't be as easy to just convince the "Dark Lords" to renounce their evil ways, but they are willing to try it for her sake. [[spoiler:After speaking with Beneda, she outright wishes that there were more Youma like her.]]
* WhatTheHellHero: Usagi, tired from the Senshi protecting her 24/7, pretty much calls them out of this behavior [[spoiler: when their families begin to become targets]].
* YouCantFightFate: With the confirmation that their timeline had officially diverged from Chibi Usa's [[spoiler:with the prevention of the Great Freeze, Usagi was hoping that she wouldn't need to become Neo Queen Serenity anymore, and could instead just marry Mamoru and be a housewife. Then the aftermath of the final battle against Tanizaki sees them summon up the Crystal Palace when repairing Tokyo to keep people from being homeless, [[NoGoodDeedGoesUnpunished cementing the Senshi's place]] [[TheCallKnowsWhereYouLive as a political power]] on Earth in doing so.]]

!Hino Rei/Sailor Mars
* BerserkButton: Given her HotBlooded nature, it's to be expected, but several are pushed over the course of time. When she sees [[spoiler: Sailor Moon collapse in agony after taking Ranma's hand]] she assumes he's responsible and attacks him without hesitation or restraint. [[spoiler: Later, during the invasion of Tanizaki's tower, she finds some children being held as sacrifices for Ekim's rituals. She returns in a fury to where he is fighting Konatsu and calls down an extremely powerful fire attack that doesn't even have a name.]]
-->[[spoiler:Then she spoke, her voice shaking with fury. A single word. A command. "''Burn.''"]]
* BurningWithAnger: What she finds in Ekim's lair causes her to emanate a hurricane fire.
* ItsPersonal: Feels this way after Ranma seemingly backstabs Usagi in ''Ascendant''. Chapter 7 makes it clear that she is still holding a grudge. [[spoiler:In chapter 13, she coldly burns Ekim to death after discovering what he [[HumanSacrifice intended to do with the captured children]].]]
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: She, Ami, and Usagi personally apologize to Ranma and Ryouga for causing them trouble. She is especially guilty for burning Ryouga so badly three years ago.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: [[spoiler:In unleashing her rage on Ekim, she unwittingly weakened the Nameless One's seal enough for a portion of It to slip through and fully possess Ekim, letting the N.O. take a more active role in events for a time.]]
* TheFarmerAndTheViper: Subverted. She believes Ranma backstabbed Sailor Moon after she showed him kindness. She later drops it after apolgizing to both him and Ryouga.
* SaveTheVillain: Does this to Modra once, much to the youma's fury.

!Mizuno Ami/Sailor Mercury
* AudienceSurrogate: Chaos in the key of Ranma occurs right in front of her and quite often is shown from her perspective as she tries to make sense of what the heck is going on, much as a normal person, or at least one unfamiliar with ''Manga/RanmaOneHalf'', would.
* BluffTheImposter: [[spoiler: When Ekim takes control of Ranma's body, with the intention of attacking Sailor Mercury, she intercepts him and, suspicious of his behavior, asks why he'd want to talk to her since she was the one who destroyed the "summoning artifact". Ekim responds that he began to respect her after that. Since it was Sailor Moon who destroyed the artifact, this allows Mercury to see that Ranma and Ryouga were right about the mysterious third party targeting the Senshi.]]
* GivingUpOnLogic: She did this upon seeing Ranma go into the Nekoken while trying to come to grips with the fact that the Dark Lords had been on the level the entire time.
* GuileHero: Ami's wit and intelligence is put to very good use as she quickly figures out the answers she needs.
* ItsAllMyFault: Ami blames herself for Urawa Ryo’s supposed death, because she was the one who taught him to ScrewDestiny and he died attempting to do just that.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: She, Usagi, and Rei personally apologize to Ranma and Ryouga for causing them trouble.
* TheStrategist: Ranma and Ukyo quickly realized that Sailor Mercury was this. Without her input, the DD Girls were LeeroyJenkins, one and all. Ukyo realizes how dangerous she is after one of Mercury's [[BatmanGambit Batman Gambits]] almost kills her.
* WasItAllALie: [[spoiler:Gives this reaction during TheReveal:]]
--> [[spoiler:''Was that really all it was? Just a trick, this whole time? All the fighting and the worry and those ridiculous Dark Lord outfits and the conquering armies from another dimension and it was all just them faking the entire thing?'']]

!Kino Makoto/Sailor Jupiter
* OutOfFocus: Of the inner senshi, she gets the least screen time, character development, and is the only one not to get a NextTierPowerUp during the story.

!Aino Minako/Sailor Venus
* AnArmAndALeg: She loses an arm, courtesy of the Wyrmspawn. As she's the Senshi's resident PluckyGirl, however, the idea of getting some combat training with Mousse is enough to snap her out of it.
* ArtificialLimbs: Venus gains a robotic replacement for her lost arm in ''Ascendant's'' epilogue.
* HandicappedBadass: Becomes this during ''Ascendant's'' final battle against Tanizaki and the Nameless One's forces.
* InterspeciesFriendship: Forms one with Jimenko, one of the lemures previously imprisoned in the Dark Kingdom. It's strong enough that the sight of her about to be killed is enough to trigger Venus's NextTierPowerup.
* PlatonicLifePartners: [[spoiler:With Mousse in the DistantFinale, despite actively chasing him as a potential romantic partner for a good chunk of ''Ascendant''.]]
* RocketPunch: Her artificial arm is capable of doing this.

!Chiba Mamoru/Tuxedo Kamen
* BigDamnHeroes: His whole shtick.
* BoringButPractical: Despite his love of dramatic entrances, his powerset is subtle and much less flashy than the Senshi; his fighting style focuses on his enhanced speed, reflexes, and strength more than his other powers. The sequel further enforces this trope; he hasn't recieved any dramatic transformations or new attacks like the others, but his enhanced abilities have steadily increased in proportion to the [[SquishyWizard Senshi's]] [[PersonOfMassDestruction firepower]], to the point that he's confident he could handle pre-timeskip Ranma and Ryoga by himself.
* CompositeCharacter: While the ''Sailor Moon'' aspect of the crossover is based off the anime, Tuxedo Kamen himself is a cross between his anime and manga selves where his power is concerned. Most notably he possesses the ability to [[HealingHands heal others]], something that his anime self never showed.
* MagneticHero: While not the strongest among the Senshi, he ''is'' the best with words and using them to reach people. [[spoiler: The plan to take down Tanizaki's public operations basically amounted to "use Helios to let Mamoru talk to all of Japan without interruption". It works ''spectacularly''.]]

!Tenoh Haruka/Sailor Uranus
* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: Zigzagged. She's the best fighter among the Sailor Senshi and even surpasses Sailor Jupiter in terms of fighting prowess. However, considering how Ryouga beats her down without breaking a sweat, she is significantly less skilled than him.
* CombatPragmatist: Most of the Outers to one extent or another, but Uranus is the most pragmatic of them, usually the first to take advantage of a situation, and firing at Ryouga when he has his back turned. Seeing Ryouga turned away for modesty's sake while she was transforming isn't ''quite'' enough to change her mind.
* GoodCopBadCop: The Bad Cop to Michiru's Good Cop.
* InTheBack: Has ''almost'' no qualms about doing this (see above).
* LeftForDead: [[spoiler: Is shot in the chest, which misses her heart but would still certainly be fatal had Hotaru not [[HealingHands healed her]]. The merc who shot her grabs Hotaru and apparently leaves Haruka to die.]]
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: She unwittingly reignited the conflict between the Wrecking Crew and the Sailor Senshi by threatening Beneda at sword point.
* ShipperOnDeck: Oddly, she happily supports Hotaru's crush on Ryouga, much to Setsuna's headache. Her rationale prior to the "Dark Lords" coming clean was that if Hotaru was able to find some happiness in her life, and it meant having one less enemy to fight, she wasn't going to argue against it.

!Kaioh Michiru/Sailor Neptune
* GoodCopBadCop: The Good Cop to Haruka's Bad Cop.
* PervertRevengeMode: Even someone as calm and refined as her loses it when a DirtyOldMan like Happosai gropes her.

!Tomoe Hotaru/Sailor Saturn
* AdaptationalBadass: Saturn was already impressive in the source material, but ''Ascendant'' adds to her moveset by giving her several unique attacks, one of which is the below-described Silence Cannon.
* BadassInDistress: [[spoiler:She is kidnapped by Davidson and his crew by the end of Chapter 8]].
* BadPowersGoodPeople: Ryouga called her "a nice kid", despite having experienced her destructive powers firsthand.
* CreepyChild: She unconsciously slips into this whenever she's seriously angry.
* CreepyGood: She's one of the nicest girls you could ever meet. Just don't get her mad!
* DeathGlare: Does this subconsciously. It's intense enough to frighten ''Pantyhose Taro'' into fleeing.
* DisintegratorRay: Can fire these from her Glaive in the form of her 'Silence Cannon' attack. They can be toned down to injure instead of kill, which Saturn used at one point against Pantyhose Taro, but full-powered shots will outright obliterate whatever she targets with it.
* EvilCostumeSwitch: [[spoiler:Played with in the epilogue. After she marries Ryouga during the twenty year TimeSkip and officially joins the Dark Lords, she begins wearing a black and purple version of her Senshi uniform. However, as the narration notes, the fundamental kindness at her core never changes.]]
* HappilyMarried: [[spoiler:With Ryouga, during the final chapter's time skip.]]
* HealingHands: Enables her to heal Sailors Uranus and Neptune after their fight with Ryouga, among other instances. [[spoiler: When her NextTierPowerup is triggered following the battle with the Wyrmspawn, she is even able to fully reverse the effects of Ryouga's ''Tora No Seishin''.]]
* ICantBelieveAGuyLikeYouWouldNoticeMe: Hotaru initially had trouble believing Chibi-Usa when she gave her theory that Ryouga was in love with her for this reason. As a civilian she was an outcast, and as Sailor Saturn she was "a cursed weapon of Death and Silence"; she had no problems believing a person would change sides out of love, but she didn't think ''she'' of all people would be the cause of it.
* IHaveYourWife: [[spoiler:Her father is held hostage by Davidson and his men to be used as leverage against her]].
* PersonOfMassDestruction: The way Beneda describes her is nearly accurate.
* RelationshipUpgrade: [[spoiler:She and Ryouga finally admit their feelings for each other while recovering from killing the Wyrmspawn.]]
* RescueRomance: [[spoiler: Hotaru starts falling for Ryouga, despite being seen as an enemy (at first). It's first implied, then confirmed that he is falling for her as well]].
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: [[TranquilFury Minus the 'roaring' part.]] [[spoiler: She shows absolutely no mercy when annihilating the mercenaries for tormenting her father.]]
* UniversallyBelovedLeader: [[spoiler:Towards the Dark Kingdom denizens after she marries Ryouga and becomes a "Dark Lady", using a combination of awe, intimidation, and genuine compassion to gain their wholehearted support.]]

!Meioh Setsuna/Sailor Pluto
* TheComicallySerious: Particularly when Ranma comes face-to-face with Luna, triggering his ailurophobia and inciting him to scramble up the tallest object in the vicinity--in this case, Pluto. She tries to keep her dignity while balancing a terrified martial artist on her head.
* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: She figures that Akane and the others were not brainwashed as she withstood Sailor Moon's attack, deciding to send a Dead Scream her way to bump her off. Unfortunately, this is one of Ranma's [[BerserkButton Berserk Buttons]].
* YouHaveGotToBeKiddingMe: [[spoiler: Her reaction to the whole truth about the Dark Lords. She wanted to dismiss Ryouga's explanation as lies, but realized that too much about it made sense.]]

!Chibi Usa/Sailor Chibi-Moon
* ForWantOfANail: [[spoiler: Pluto realizes she had averted the Great Freeze just five minutes after coming back to the present without even realizing it by preventing Tanizaki from getting Tuxedo Kamen's blood. He winds up getting Sailor Moon's instead.]]
* ParentalSexualitySquick: In the last chapter, Pluto mentions that the new timeline they've created will result in her being conceived sooner. She glances over at Mamoru and Usagi and winces at the thought.
* PlotRelevantAgeUp: Due to growing up some in Crystal Tokyo before heading back to the past, Chibi-Usa in ''Ascendant'' is about as old as the Inner Senshi had been when they had first began their careers. She's still young enough that Ranma calls her "Sailor Pipsqueak" a few times, though.
* SetRightWhatOnceWentWrong: By complete accident, no less. [[spoiler:Her latest travel into the past allows her to interrupt a bid by Tanizaki to gain control of Mamoru's Golden Crystal, which would have triggered the Great Freeze across the entire planet. Unfortunately, he instead is able to attempt taking control of Usagi's Silver Crystal, setting off the plot of Ascendant.]]
* ShipperOnDeck: Starts being one for Hotaru and Ryouga.
* SpannerInTheWorks: Setsuna deduces that she has been this throughout the various campaigns for the Senshi, her interference changing things for the better. Such as Sailor Saturn surviving the battle against the Death Busters and joining the Sailor Senshi ranks, the Amazon Quartet turning their backs on Queen Nehellenia, and the redemption of the Queen herself. If Chibi-Usa hadn't returned to the past for her birthday party, the Senshi wouldn't have found out that Ranma and Ryouga were still around, [[spoiler:and neither would they have discovered the true cause of the Great Freeze]].
* YouHaveGotToBeKiddingMe: Is understandably quite skeptical of Ranma's descriptions of some of his life.
--> '''Chibi-Usa:''' But seriously. ''Martial Arts Tea Ceremony?''
--> '''Ranma:''' I swear, it's the truth. Trained in it myself for a bit. Had to help a guy get out of an arranged marriage by beating his fiancee in a Martial Arts Tea Ceremony duel. ... Except when the day of the fight came, she actually turned out to be a monkey.
--> '''Chibi-Usa:''' ...okay, now I ''know'' you're just making fun of me.

!Luna
* {{Determinator}}: When she believes she's the last hope to stop the "Dark Lords", and then even more so when she realizes Sailor Moon is alive. [[spoiler: P-chan has to knock her unconscious to stop her.]]
* HeroicBSOD: Has one when she thinks the "Dark Lords" have killed the Senshi.
** GetAholdOfYourselfMan: Jadeite grabs her and shakes her to snap her out of it.
-->'''Jadeite''': Pull yourself together! Don't you have any pride as a servant of good? Are you really just going to let those Dark Lords win like this? Surely this isn't all your side is capable of!
* ItsAllMyFault: Luna’s reaction when she thought the Senshi were dead.
--> '''Luna''': ''It's all my fault. I was the one who made them into warriors... and for what? To just throw them under the wheels of some insane plan of conquest, without even slowing it down? I... I never thought it would end like this...''
* ManOfKryptonite: To Ranma. Thanks to his fear of cats, her appearance alone is enough to cause him a ''lot'' of problems.
* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: [[spoiler:Ranma could have been able to convince the Senshi that he and the Wrecking Crew posed no threat to them whatsoever, and he might have been able to prove it too. However, Luna had been spying on Ranma and Akane and misinterpreted their conversation for an evil plot and immediately told the Senshi what she ''thought'' she heard. Add the fact that Ranma is still not over his fear of cats and freaked out the moment he saw Luna, causing him to look even more suspicious in the Senshi's eyes. Long story short, Luna accidentally created more problems for the Wrecking Crew.]]

!Artemis
* ManOfKryptonite: Just like Luna, he's this to Ranma.

* OldMaster: Cologne, of course, but the other elders that take part in the battles against the Dark Kingdom are this as well.

!Cologne
* DramaticIrony: While initially not knowing who the Sailor Senshi were, Cologne was comforted by the fact that while they didn’t have the Moon Kingdom, they did have brave souls like the Senshi.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: [[spoiler:Though she initially comes across as a hard-liner, she has enough flexibility to consider that even a youma might be able to change.]]
* TakeAThirdOption: Between letting Beneda live in violation of Amazon laws or killing her for being a youma, [[spoiler: Cologne decides to douse her with water from the Jusenkyo Spring of Drowned Girl, turning her human]].
* PutOnABus: Disappears from ''Ascendant'' until after the conflict with Tanizaki is over. In the aftermath of the battle in the Dark Kingdom, Cologne took note of the many changes that were taking place among the assorted warrior tribes in China as a result of it and decided to return there, leaving Shampoo in charge of the Nekohanten.

!Loofah
* HandicappedBadass: Loofa no longer has a left arm, only a short stump barely extending from her shoulder. In addition, her left leg is heavily crippled, the knee joint damaged and immobile from some long-ago injury.
* TheStrategist: Appears to be the main one during the battle against the youma.
* CombatClairvoyance: Loofah is legendary for her battle vision, having honed her ability to sense presences to an unbelievable degree, to the point of being able to track the entire flow of a conflict with perfect accuracy, even across astonishing distances.

!Soap
* AnnoyingYoungerSibling: To Cologne, even though both are probably older than all the main characters combined.
* DoctorsOrders: Loofah is convinced she became a healer so she could order her elders around.
* TheMedic: One of the Amazons' healers.
* RulesLawyer: Shows herself to be one, and approves of Cologne's decision to [[spoiler:take a third option regarding Beneda's existence]].
* ScrewTheRulesImDoingWhatsRight: Something that sets her against Cologne's more traditional views.

!Darkmistress
* AxCrazy: Oh ho ho, ''yes''.
* BadBoss: Has a tendency to kill her subordinates simply because she's in a bad mood.
* BigBadDuumvirate: Is part of this with Jadeite in the first story, being the biggest and most active threat to the 'Dark Lords' and Senshi who isn't one of the four generals.
* ChronicBackstabbingDisorder: Has no problems killing her own allies if there's something to gain.
* ColdBloodedTorture: As she walks along in disguise, she imagines the most painful ways to kill the humans she sees around her, for example [[DeathOfAThousandCuts slowly bleeding one man to death with hundreds of tiny knives]], and what she does to [[spoiler:Kodachi]] is pure sadistic cruelty.
* HopeCrusher: Upon realizing that Kodachi thought that she really was her mother, she reacted with childish glee.
* KickTheDog: And she loves to do it.
* LogicalWeakness:
** This is what the Darkmistress' ability exploits. Martial artists of Ranma and Ryouga’s caliber spend a lifetime ingraining their actions and reactions, pushing them deep into their subconscious. The Darkmistress' illusions play haywire with all of that. Her opponents have to think about their strikes, have to constantly override the protective reflex that know how deadly their attacks would be against their loved ones. While it only cost the tiniest fraction of a second, that tiny fraction of a second is enough.
** She also possesses one of these herself, as her illusions don't work [[spoiler: on those who are blind or otherwise have poor vision]].
** Another weakness is that she can only take on ''one'' likeness at a time. If she's facing two or more fighters who have very different people that they love...
* MakeItLookLikeAnAccident: She does this to everyone who knew about the attack on Nerima.
* PowerFist: This is one of the Darkmistress’ abilities, using her ShockAndAwe ability to form a pair of gauntlets to greatly enhance her hand to hand abilities.
* TheRival: To Jadeite, and would like little more than to see him dead.
* SecretPolice: Her function in Youma society.
* ShapeShifting: Employs this ability heavily in her line of work, using transformations to make her targets see something they love--thus making them hesitate--before moving in for the kill. However, as she realized too late, [[spoiler:it can be properly [[NoSell no-sold]] if the target's eyesight is poor.]]
* ShockAndAwe: She can fire powerful blasts of red lightning.
* UngratefulBitch: That subordinate she kills (see BadBoss)? That was the medic treating her after her encounter with the NWC.
* VampiricDraining: As with the rest of her kind.
* WithDueRespect: Her attitude whenever she's around Jadeite.

!Keeper
* BerserkButton: Flips out when her hounds start dying, to the point that she goes against orders solely because she wants to eviscerate Beneda's new allies.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Her animals are very dear to her.
* MercyKill: To one of her mortally wounded hounds, much to her resulting anger.
* PsychicLink: Appears to have one with her hounds.
* ScarilyCompetentTracker: Able to track even Ryouga’s meandering path, though it takes longer than usual for her to do.

!Jadeite
* BigBadDuumvirate: Is part of this with the Darkmistress during the latter half of the first story.
* {{Determinator}}: After the NoHoldsBarredBeatdown delivered to him by Ranma, it is nothing short of a miracle that Jadeite was able to stand or move around in any way.
* EnemyMine: He eventually teams up with the Senshi to defeat the “Dark Lords.”
* PsychicStrangle: Uses one to put the Darkmistress in her place in their first confrontation.
* TheRival: To the Darkmistress.

!DD Girls
* AdaptationalBackstoryChange: No real details were given them when they appeared in canon, aside from them being powerful youma that Beryl sicced on the Senshi when they were getting too close for comfort. Here they all have their own names and personalities, with the most notable being the light blue Modra, and the 'DD' in their title is an acronym for "Darkmistress's Demons".
* AscendedExtra: In canon, they appear only as the Senshi are heading to the final confrontation with Queen Beryl. Here they are major characters, particularly Modra [[spoiler:who takes over the Black Section after the Darkmistress' death, and is ascribed quite a bit of cunning, even going so far as to set up Jadeite's final defeat]].
* BatmanGambit: Modra sets one up after the Darkmistress dies. [[spoiler:After taking over the Black Section, she drops some information on the Jadeite-infatuated Thetis, who then goes off and manages to get herself killed, which puts Jadeite in even more hot water, leading to his final defeat at the hands of the Senshi]].
* ColorCodedForYourConvenience: Modra is light blue, Zelen is green, Fialova purple, Cerven red, and Ruzova pink.
* ComplainingAboutRescuesTheyDontLike: Modra swears to kill Sailor Mars for the intolerable affront of saving her life from Ryouga's belt blade.
* EliteMooks: The Darkmistress's strongest servants.
* EmbarrassingRescue: Modra at the hands of Sailor Mars, which infuriates her to the point that she swears to see the Senshi dead for it.
* EvilCannotComprehendGood: After Sailor Mars saves Modra's life, she says the youma doesn't even understand why she did it.
* {{Foil}}: Modra serves as one to Beneda. Like the latter, she is a youma rescued by an ally when she was considered dead to rights. Unlike Beneda, not only does she completely fail to understand why the rescue was made, she promises to see her rescuer dead.
* HeroKiller: Not that they manage to kill anyone in the first storyline, but anyone familiar with the anime should know why they're important.
* PragmaticVillainy: If they didn't realize they weren't strong enough to take on the Dark Lords by themselves, they would never have teamed up with the Senshi at all.
* YouAreInCommandNow: Modra takes over the Black Section after the Darkmistress' demise.

!Queen Beryl
* DivideAndConquer: This was what Beryl had in mind for those that invaded the Dark Kingdom. When the groups began dividing up in order to make their way through the Dark Kingdom faster, she sent her army to prevent them from meeting up again, allowing her to crush each group one by one.
* GoodThingYouCanHeal: Is grievously injured by [[spoiler:Prince Herb and Soap]] and is able to recover from it later, though doing so consumes the bulk of her power.
* GreaterScopeVillain: Is in the background for the most part while Jadeite and the Darkmistress take to the field against the 'Dark Lords' and Senshi, though she is responsible both directly and not for the plights of both factions. It isn't until the Dark Kingdom is invaded that she finally gets her hands dirty.
* MotivatedByFear: Both deals this [[spoiler:and receives it, courtesy of Herb.]]
* TorsoWithAView: The end result of the above-mentioned injury.
* WasOnceAMan: The Darkmistress muses during a meeting with her that given the amount of power at Beryl's command, it was difficult to believe that she had been human once upon a time.
* YouHaveFailedMe: Kills Marceat for her defeat against the Amazons.

[[folder:Tanizaki Heavy Industries ('''WARNING: Spoiler-heavy!''')]]

* EvilInc: Doesn't look like this to the public, but Tanizaki's executives include:
** An elite assassin who [[LastOfHisKind killed every other member of his order.]]
** A sorcerer who has contracted with an EldritchAbomination.
** [[ThoseWackyNazis A former Nazi scientist.]]
** A man whose entire job is to manage influence over [[CorruptPolitician Corrupt Politicians]].
** And last but not least, an UltimateLifeForm who [[AntiVillain just wants to live]].

!Tanizaki Kazuo/[[spoiler:Death Phantom]]
* AesopAmnesia: After future-Tanizaki caused the Great Freeze on Earth, he went to Nemesis in order to connect with that planet. The adage that actions have consequences never did sink in.
* AffablyEvil: He's quite polite, if condescending at times, and is all for not ordering your horrible death if you agree to not get in his way. And if you join him, even better, he'll guarantee you many comforts as long as you do your part! Just, uh, don't cross him, or just ordering your horrible death is the least of your worries.
* AllForNothing: Everything Tanizaki did was to get ahold of the Ginzuishou. [[spoiler:Sailor Moon eventually broke it in half to save Unit Zero, halting his plans completely.]]
* AmbitionIsEvil: He seeks to become the most powerful, no matter what, and can't stand the idea of someone being more powerful than him.
* AncientConspiracy: [[spoiler:As it turns out, his extraordinarily large shadow empire is actually an inherited and gradually developed family legacy of extortion, blackmailing and behind-the-scenes manipulation to control as much of the world as possible. He is merely the latest inheritor, and apparently the one with the biggest ambition, or at least the opportunity and resources to execute it. Or at least, that's what that last part ''looks'' like to the public eye.]]
* ArrogantKungFuGuy: Zigzagged. He's not arrogant at all, but very condescending when he feels like it.
* BigBad: Of the sequel, [[spoiler:and ultimately of the 'Sailor Moon R' series as the Death Phantom.]]
* BerserkButton: Thwarting his plans too many times serves as his personal button [[spoiler:as Genma found out the hard way...]]
* CallingYourAttacks: Averted; despite it being prevalent in both source materials and throughout both stories and the interlude, Tanizaki never calls his attacks, not ''once'', which further builds his KnightOfCerebus persona.
* CanonCharacterAllAlong: [[spoiler:In the original timeline, he escaped the Earth during the Great Freeze and fled to the planet Nemesis, only to become the Death Phantom upon claiming the power he found there.]]
* ChekhovsGunman: His first appearance [[spoiler:in the very first chapter as the Death Phantom]].
* TheChessmaster: Has acted as this all his life.
** BatmanGambit: His supplying the warlord in Africa with weapons through one of his legitimate businesses, knowing full well the UN will eventually place sanctions on them, at which point, his black market dealers will start selling them at a vastly inflated price.
** XanatosGambit: He's shown to have assets in place that will benefit from nearly any turn of events. [[spoiler: When he meets with Ranma he either gets Ranma to agree to help him, or he fights him and uses that as a way to get some of Ranma's hair for one of Ekim's rituals.]]
** XanatosSpeedChess: He still is not above playing a card unexpectedly dealt to him, or when he has to react quickly to unforeseen events, [[spoiler:notably when Ranma and Mousse confront Zhang and he has to keep his plan from unraveling]].
* ControlFreak: [[spoiler:Has shades of this. For example, since he couldn't take Sailor Moon's power himself, he settled for cloning her and conditioning the clone to be blindly loyal to him because he wouldn't trust anyone with such power otherwise. Zhang even lampshades it when he decides to use the Wyrmspawn against the Senshi and Wrecking Crew, noting how much he ''hates'' having to rely on something so uncontrollable for his plans.]]
* CorruptCorporateExecutive: Has woven a spiderweb across business ventures both legal and illegal.
* TheCorruption: What led to his transformation into [[spoiler:Death Phantom. He escaped Earth before the Great Freeze and set out for the dark planet Nemesis to take its power. A thousand years later he was so steeped in that dark power that he'd forgotten who he was and wasn't even human anymore.]]
* DidntSeeThatComing: [[spoiler:He certainly didn't see Sailor Moon saving Unit Zero by splitting apart the Silver Crystal coming, at any rate.]]
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: He casually defeats an assassin trying to kill him (that he had hired himself), who had already easily torn through his security forces.
* EvilCannotComprehendGood: It's subtle, but there. While Tanizaki has taken great pains to study his opponents and can seemingly use their good nature against them, he shows time and again that he doesn't actually ''understand'' it, particularly the HeroicSacrifice, willingly risking injury or death for the benefit of another, which might as well be an utterly alien concept to him. Tanizaki himself is the exact opposite, willing to sacrifice the entire planet for his own benefit.
* {{Expy}}: A filthy rich man who owns one of the largest operations in the world and has the smarts to match spends most of his time trying to discredit a seemingly godlike being. [[ComicBook/LexLuthor Now if only he were bald...]]
* FatalFlaw: His completely amoral way of doing business makes him powerful enemies, and his need to control everything does him no favors. However, what really keeps hammering nails in his coffin is [[SunkCostFallacy his inability to cut his losses and rethink his plans]], even as they are falling apart.
* ForTheEvulz: Tanizaki attempted to have An Ohara and her parents killed in order to kidnap Rhett Butler. There was entirely no reason for him to do this, as he would be the last person they would think of when searching for their missing cat.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: When Tanizaki was first introduced he had defeated an assassin he’d hired to kill him and mentioned he regularly does this. During his fight with Genma, he revealed a counter to stealth techniques.
* GeniusBruiser: A powerful martial artist capable of going toe-to-toe with Ranma and winning, but also able to make devastatingly effective plans, change them on the fly and can make deductions that lead to conclusions that are almost dead on.
* HateSink: Though he starts off as a VillainWithGoodPublicity, after the Senshi's dream propaganda blitz wrests control of the narrative from him, combined with the devastation the Wyrmspawn caused, the entire worlds starts to despise him almost as much as the audience does.
* HealingFactor: Demonstrates this after Ranma hits him with his new variant of the ''Hiryu Shoten Ha'', his lacerations closing, spine and ribs resetting, even his clothes repairing themselves. [[spoiler: Goes up to FromASingleCell after being incinerated by Princess Serenity and ''still'' manages to recover from it. It isn't until Ranma realizes he's sealed part of his soul away that they truly manage to defeat him. ]]
* HiddenAgendaVillain: When he first appeared we didn't know just yet what he really wanted, but it definitely involved the Senshi in some way. [[spoiler:Ranma soon finds out that he's trying to find a way to take Sailor Moon's power for himself.]]
* IShallTauntYou: As Sailor Moon appears where he and Ranma are fighting, he starts mocking her, asking if she's going to give him a chance at redemption, or a speech on love and kindness. [[ShutUpHannibal She doesn't let him finish]].
* IfIWantedYouDead: He claims that he knew all about the Sailor Senshi since they first appeared in public, and was observing them in secret ever since. If he wanted to, he could've have Usagi hit by a drunk driver on her way to school, or have Makoto die in her sleep from carbon monoxide poisoning from a faulty furnace, or have Haruka's bike suffer a catastrophic mechanical failure during one of her races. Of course if he did stoop to that, Pharaoh 90 or Sailor Galaxia would've stomped on the world long ago, a fact that he is very much aware of.
* KnightOfCerebus: His presence in the sequel is what makes the sequel less about the Sailor Senshi drawn into the hijinks of the Ranma cast.
* ManOfWealthAndTaste: Comes part and parcel with being one of the most powerful men in the world.
* MultiformBalance: The general premise behind Tanizaki's "Five Fist Style". Part of his combat strategy is to wait until his opponents acclimate to his current style and then suddenly switch to a new one. His styles include:
** Balanced general martial arts.
** Pressure Point-focused style.
** Rapid swift strikes.
** Large sweeping attacks.
* MyGrandsonMyself: [[spoiler: Has repeatedly pretended to be his own son to hide his immortality]].
* NoChallengeEqualsNoSatisfaction: [[spoiler:After Tanizaki is defeated, Ranma suggests that this was part of his problem; once he'd used his SoulJar to become immortal, he became nearly unbeatable in martial arts, and to someone who derived meaning in life from the challenge, the ''lack'' of challenge drove his ambition and led to his plan to take Sailor Moon's power, after he'd exhausted other options like sending assassins after himself.]]
* NoHoldsBarredBeatdown: [[spoiler:Delivers one upon Genma for messing up his plans to kill Ranma and crew, beating him to a bloody pulp before killing him by snapping his neck]].
* NoNonsenseNemesis: In a crossover between two universes that have a penchant for goofy, over-the-top villains and, despite its DarkerAndEdgier tone, still manages to have light points and humor through the plot, Tanizaki is never part of it. Every time he appears, it's always serious at best, ''deadly'' when it really gets going.
* OrganizationWithUnlimitedFunding: He has multiple interests in practically every part of the world, both legitimate and otherwise. [[spoiler:After the Wyrmspawn destroys Minato Ward, however, everyone on both sides of the law start abandoning him en masse; by the time of the final battle, the only useful resources he has left aside from himself are a handful of guards, Unit Zero, and Zhang.]]
* OutsideContextProblem: He came out of the left field, so none of the cast saw him coming. The Wrecking Crew realizes how dangerous he is to the Senshi as they have yet to fully know about him, though. [[spoiler:This becomes subverted when it's revealed he's someone the Senshi faced before, just not as they remember him.]]
* PowerParasite: [[spoiler: What he ultimately plans on doing to Sailor Moon]].
* PragmaticVillainy: Pragmatism is practically his defining characteristic, followed closely by his love of a challenge. This is basically the inverse of Ranma, whose love of a challenge often eclipses his pragmatism and even when it doesn't his pragmatism is limited by his honor and morals.
* PressurePoint: A specialty of his school of martial arts, and he can use them to ''devastating'' effect, robbing Ranma of the use of one arm in one fight, [[spoiler: and leaving Sailor Moon writhing in pain, seemingly tearing herself apart from the inside out to the point that Beneda literally has to ''kill'' her and revive her to get it to stop]].
* RageBreakingPoint: Genma not only thwarted Tanizaki’s gambit but stated with full confidence that Ranma would defeat him. That confidence caused something in Tanizaki to break.
* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: Looking at him, you wouldn't think that he was really [[spoiler:254 years old. He would have truly become TheAgeless had he survived to become the Death Phantom.]]
* TheReveal: As it turns out, [[spoiler:Tanizaki is really the Death Phantom in human form. He figured out where the supposed tenth planet Nemesis was and went there before Earth froze over and claimed its power as his own. But after a thousand years, he changed and morphed until he was consumed by it to the point he couldn't remember what he once was.]]
* SadisticChoice: Tanizaki tries to force this on Sailor Moon: if she wants the Silver Crystal back, she'll have to kill Unit Zero. [[spoiler:He doesn't expect her to ''break the Crystal in half'' and give her clone one of the halves.]]
* SimpleYetAwesome: Played with; the counter that Tanizaki developed for stealth techniques is essentially using his battle aura as a blanket, but despite its simplicity it is still incredibly difficult to perform in battle.
* TheSleepless: Helios relates to the Senshi that for some reason, he has never seen Tanizaki in the dream realm. [[spoiler:The reason for this is related to the above-mentioned healing factor, which also provides him unlimited stamina.]]
* SoulJar: Ranma realizes that this is what grants him his HealingFactor and seemingly ResurrectiveImmortality. [[spoiler: The crystal orb that the Death Phantom (his future self) was using holds a portion of his soul.]] Notably, Tanzaki has to stay within range of it if he wants to keep his energy levels up.
* SufficientlyAnalyzedMagic: This is Tanizaki’s MO.
--> '''Ranma''': ''You're the kind of guy who collects magical artifacts like baseball cards, trying to pick 'em apart to see what he can get out of them. You're the kind of guy who captures any monsters he can get his hands on, to try and find ways to improve his own monsters. You're the kind of guy who goes and digs up a insane dragon-thing because you think you might be able to figure out what made it so strong. You're the kind of guy who has his people working on a damned spaceship so that you can search other planets for ways to make yourself more powerful.''
* SunkCostFallacy: Essentially Tanizaki's FatalFlaw in that he stubbornly refuses to KnowWhenToFoldEm, even when his plans are actively crumbling into ruin. He keeps trying increasingly extreme and desperate ploys, including [[spoiler:releasing the Wyrmspawn and nearly engineering the release of The Nameless one, a monster with AntiMagic traits that he believes unkillable and an OmnicidalManiac EldritchAbomination, respectively,]] just because he believes that, once Unit Zero gets full control of the Silver Crystal, she can use its RealityWarper powers to remake the world so that none of that is an issue and his power will be absolute and unchallenged. [[spoiler:In the end, Sailor Moon splitting the crystal to TakeAThirdOption and save both Unit Zero and herself renders his plans AllForNothing before his SoulJar is destroyed and Ranma kills him, while he could have survived if he had walked away at any point prior to the last one]].
* UnderestimatingBadassery: A downplayed example, as Tanizaki is already aware that Ranma and Co. are ''highly'' capable fighters, but he consistently underestimates their sheer tenacity and penchant for...creative solutions, which undermines his efforts more than once. What really gets him, though, is their capacity for self-sacrifice, which winds up thwarting him over and over again.
* TheUnfettered: He outright tells Sailor Moon that this is why he deserves to wield the power she possesses. She has boundaries, while he does not. [[spoiler:Up to and including every crime conceivable by humanity under the sun, including drug and human trafficking, inhumane experimentation, child sacrifices, dark rituals, cloning and MindRape.]] [[spoiler:Ranma later concludes that this was actually one of his biggest ''hinderances'' and one of the reasons he ultimately failed.]]
* VillainWithGoodPublicity: After the NWC and Senshi mount an attack on his skyscraper, he launches a media blitz to spin it so that the Senshi and some rogue martial artists attacked a legitimate business man for no reason, turning the Japanese government against them, who then station the JDSF around Tanizaki's building.
* VillainousBreakdown:
** Upon hearing that his plan to further divide Ranma and the Senshi has utterly failed he backhands Ekim. This was the first time he was seen lashing out in anger.
** His thoughts reveal that the gradually worsening disaster that his plans have become give him increasingly common flashes of fury, but he refuses to act on them in order to stay in control. However, it is evident that Tanizaki is losing his cool, and ''definitely'' desperate as the story continues.
** [[spoiler:He flies into a rage after Genma thwarts his final attempt to kill Ranma and crew, delivering a NoHoldsBarredBeatdown on him before snapping his neck]].
** Finally comes to a head near the end of Chapter 18 when [[spoiler:he realizes Usagi ''broke'' the Silver Crystal to give part of it to Unit Zero, thus thwarting forever any plans he has of controlling that power, and he decides to simply kill Sailor Moon in the slowest, most painful way he can devise (and given his skill, he could no doubt take ''days'' doing it). He's interrupted by Ranma and company, which only enrages him further, as they're the ones who are responsible for his plans coming apart in the first place, resolving to torture each of them and anyone they know to death.]]
* WasOnceAMan: [[spoiler:Ranma speculates that this is what Tanizaki's life devolved into in the alternate timeline. As the Death Phantom, he wouldn't have been a martial artist anymore--just a bag of bones who couldn't remember his own name.]]
* WeCanRuleTogether:
** He makes an offer to Ranma early on to join him in subduing the Senshi, offering him not only plenty of material compensation, but also assistance in fending off the Senshi, most of whom by this point (through Tanizaki's own manipulations, mind you) would like to kill him and his allies. Ranma acts like he's considering it to fish for as much information as possible, but naturally tells him to shove it in the end. Unlike most examples, Tanizaki lets Ranma leave without issues after a spar, [[spoiler:though this was actually part of his plan to use Ranma to distract the Senshi.]]
** He later makes an offer to Shampoo, promising her [[spoiler:to remake her and Ranma's lives in his new world to one of wedded bliss in China in her village, with not a single link of any kind to Akane or the Tendos to pull Ranma away from her]], in exchange for Shampoo walking away from the fight and not interfering anymore. Although Shampoo ''is'' brought short by it, just like her love, she also tells him to shove it. [[spoiler:In this case, she had no expectation to walk away alive, but Ranma pulls through for her in the end.]]
* WellIntentionedReplacement: Kazuo is attempting to do this with the various magical items he’s collected.

!Zhang
* TheAce: Mousse reveals that Zhang was the son of the master of the assassination school where he learned the Hidden Weapons Technique and was the most capable of any of the students there.
* AnArmAndALeg: [[spoiler:Loses an arm and portions of his legs during his final confrontation with Mousse.]]
* CorporateSamurai: Works for Tanizaki as a top-tier assassin.
* CruelMercy: [[spoiler:Is subjected to this after his final defeat: with three of his limbs either gone or severely maimed, and his career as an assassin all but over, Mousse opts to provide him with bandages and leave instead of killing him.]]
* TheDragon: Tanizaki's second-in-command.
* FourIsDeath: He's an assassin associated with the number 4.
* GracefulLoser: [[spoiler:While he's still upset to a degree with his defeat to Mousse, he acknowledges the blind warrior's progress and chooses to face his death with dignity. This is dampened somewhat when he refuses the bandages Mousse gives him and lets himself die while the blind fighter is at Tanizaki's headquarters.]]
* IShallTauntYou: The way he provokes Mousse during their confrontations.
* LastOfHisKind: Believed he was the sole surviving member of his school after he killed his father and fellow practitioners, at least until he met up with Mousse again in Tokyo.
* MasterOfAll: Zhang is a master of all of the Four Arts of Assassination.
* {{Patricide}}: Zhang did this when he decided to strike out on his own as an assassin, making his departure by removing any threat of reprisal.
* SelfMadeOrphan: Killed his father to ensure he wouldn't try to stop him when he left.

!Nagai [[spoiler: Masuyo]]
* CorruptCorporateExecutive: But since he's working for EvilInc, he's perfectly loyal.
* EmptyShell: [[spoiler: Essentially the fate he suffers after the Nameless One forces him to divulge the location of the items needed to conduct the ritual to free it. At least until he's used as a HumanSacrifice.]]
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: The first time we see him, he's giving Tanizaki a report that releasing a piece of blackmail on the Prime Minister caused enough political trouble that they were able to block his tariff bill from passing without revealing how many representatives are in the company's pocket, followed by a report that U.N. sanctions they failed to block would stop one of their arms manufacturers from selling to a South African warlord.
* EvilVirtues: Loyalty. [[spoiler:It ultimately gets him killed as detailed under EmptyShell above as he refuses to abandon Tanizaki even after pretty much everyone else does.]]
* NonActionGuy: Rather than any form of direct confrontation, Nagai is in charge of managing Tanizaki's myriad political dealings, including things like blackmail, bribes, and black market arms deals to various warlords. He also spearheads the PR attack against the Senshi after the attack on Tanizaki's tower.
* UsedToBeASweetKid: [[spoiler: Helios attempts to sway him against Tanizaki by appealing to the wide-eyed idealist he was as a child, using his personal name to emphasize the familiarity. [[RedemptionRejection It doesn't work]].]]

!Metzger
* ForScience: This is his rationale for how low he stoops, as he was furious with both WWII's victors and, later, with the Wrecking Crew for thinking that anything was allowed to get in the way of science's progress.
* HerrDoktor: An InternalMonologue, as well as an observation made by one of the captured monsters, implies he was a Nazi scientist who was forced into exile after the close of World War II.
* HumongousMecha: Pilots one when the NWC invades his monster camp.
* MadScientist: The one responsible for most of Tanizaki's scientific research, and he sees no problem with torturing the imprisoned monsters if it means accomplishing something worthwhile.
* NeverFoundTheBody: But presumed ''very'' dead. Hard for an unenhanced human to survive the frying and explosion of a HumongousMecha, after all.

!Ekim
* AndIMustScream: Sailor Mars burned every inch of Ekim’s body to a crisp, leaving him in horrific agony. However, since the way she did it weakened the Nameless One’s seal, it used its power to keep him alive.
* BadPowersBadPeople: He draws his power from an EldritchAbomination known only as the Nameless One, a being that seems to feed on death. Among his abilities is [[BodySnatcher possession]], and Sailor Neptune described his brand of magic as "vile". In addition, he seems to view anyone not named Tanizaki as beneath his notice.
* DemonicPossession: His abilities basically work by drawing the Nameless One's taint into his body, and it also gives him access to a ritual that lets him do this trope to others, [[spoiler:like he does to Ranma. Ekim himself is completely taken over by the Nameless One after the assault on Tanizaki HQ.]]
* EvilSorceror: He's the BigBad's pet wizard.
* HumanSacrifice:
** [[spoiler:This is how his magic seems to work. Sailor Mars was ''infuriated'' when she discovered the ingredients for his rituals, which included children.]]
** [[spoiler:In the end, he's used as a sacrifice himself in an attempt to turn the Nameless One loose on the world.]]
* KillItWithFire: [[spoiler:His (assumed) final fate at the hands of Sailor Mars.]]
* WithGreatPowerComesGreatInsanity: The more of the Nameless One's power he channels, the more crazed he becomes.

!Davidson and the Mercenaries
* AxCrazy: Especially when they're on their serum.
* CombatPragmatist: One of the mercs shoots Haruka before she can finish her transformation phrase.
* AFatherToHisMen: Davidson at least, [[spoiler: seeing as he swore vengeance after they are all killed by Sailor Saturn.]]
* HeroicRROD: Well, far from heroic but you get the idea. [[spoiler:The drugs used to enhance the mercenaries' physical conditions put a deadly strain on their body. Proven in Davidson's fight with Ryouga as the combination of a drug overdose and the beat-down ended up killing him.]]
* JackBauerInterrogationTechnique: The mercenaries do this on Hotaru to find out where Usagi lives. [[spoiler: It's also one of the last things they ever do.]]
* NoBodyLeftBehind: [[spoiler:Barring Davidson, who was injured but out of range, the mercenaries are completely disintegrated by a coldly infuriated Sailor Saturn the first moment she gets.]]
* PsychoForHire: Used as Tanizaki's hired muscle and guinea pigs during ''Ascendant'', and as noted below, everything is irrelevant to them as long as they get what they want. When they ''don't'' get what they want, the situation starts going South.
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: [[spoiler: Davidson swears to kill Sailor Saturn for what she did to his men. Sadly for him, Ryouga's rage was greater than his.]]
* SociopathicSoldier: They really don't care about anyone's plans, or anything else as long as they get what they want--in this case, the strength-enhancing serum they're hooked on.
* WouldHurtAChild: Again, they torture Hotaru while she is unable to defend herself.
* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: They're savvy enough to know when they're about to be on the receiving end of this and stage an escape to avoid it.

!Unit Zero/[[spoiler:Tsukino Megumi]]
* AntiVillain: [[spoiler:She is the perfect clone of Usagi, meaning that she has the thoughts, morals, and ideals of the original. It seems that doesn't ''want'' to steal Usagi's Star Seed, but has to in order to live.]]
* BloodSplatteredWeddingDress: [[spoiler:After gaining her own Princess Serenity gown after stealing Usagi's Star Seed, it almost immediately gets splashed with blood.]]
* CloneJesus: [[spoiler: Or rather, Clone Sailor Moon.]]
* ExpendableClone: Tanizaki has plans to create backups, [[spoiler:since Sailor Moon's ultimate power costs the life of the caster]].
* HappilyAdopted: [[spoiler: After Tanizaki is dead and gone and she has nowhere else to go, the Tsukino family adopts her under the new name Megumi.]]
* LivingOnBorrowedTime: [[spoiler:After her creation, her Star Seed was destroyed, with her existence only anchored by gauntlets similar to those used by Galaxia's minions. During her first actual meeting with Sailor Moon, the gauntlets are destroyed, forcing her to steal the Silver Crystal in order to live. Just as Tanizaki planned.]]
* MeaningfulRename: [[spoiler:Tanizaki never viewed her as anything but an expendable object, hence why she is called Unit Zero. After being adopted into the Tsukino family, they give her the name Megumi to reflect that Usagi and her family see her as a "blessing".]]
* MoreThanMindControl: [[spoiler: Tanizaki's conditioning aside, the predicament he places her in means that she not only attacks Sailor Moon because he ordered it, she does it ''just to survive''.]].
* SilentAntagonist: Doesn't speak at all, only ever uttering wordless screams or cries. [[spoiler: And in chapter 19 it's revealed that she ''can't'' speak due to the process that Tanizaki used to implant basic knowledge into her mind resulting in damage to her language centers, not to mention limiting her potential intelligence]].
* StockholmSyndrome: A deliberate and careful crafting of such. [[spoiler: Since she was created, Tanizaki has made sure her world is centered around him. He is the arbiter of her existence, creating a situation where she is desperate to please him and absolutely terrified of failing him]].
* UnskilledButStrong: [[spoiler:As Sailor Moon's clone, she has all the power afforded by the Silver Crystal, but very little experience in using it, causing her to make mistakes the original Sailor Moon can avoid, and is prone to panic when she finds herself in harm's way.]]
* UltimateLifeForm: [[spoiler:Made from the genes of Sailor Moon herself]].
* WalkingSpoiler: [[spoiler:Her very existence and any information about her is spoileriffic]].
* {{Womanchild}}: [[spoiler:The result of her upbringing. Because Tanizaki never put any focus on developing her mind and Metzger magically forced knowledge into her head, the trauma has given Unit Zero the personality of a needy child. Worse, because she has already developed her psyche, she may never mentally develop past a fifth or sixth-grade level.]]
* WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: [[spoiler:She was broken nearly from the moment she was created, something Tanizaki uses against Sailor Moon, feeling she won't have it in her to condemn a tortured young girl to death. And as those very doubts creep into her mind, the clone is able to wrench the Silver Crystal away from her.]]

!The Wyrmspawn
* AntiMagic: Any magic that comes in direct contact with it is completely useless, as evidenced when it no-sold Sailor Pluto's Dead Scream and Saturn's Silence Wall. However, magical measures ''can'' be used to deal with its ranged attacks.
* AttackItsWeakPoint: [[spoiler: How Ryouga and Sailor Saturn deal with it, as it's only by attacking the inside of its mouth and its wings' joints that they're able to inflict any meaningful damage.]]
* AwesomeButImpractical: The Wyrmspawn is an unstoppable killing machine who attacks everyone around it without the slightest hesitation, but that's all it's good for. Even after Kazuo managed to find and excavate it, it proved singularly useless as a research subject. Not even Ekim was able to unlock the secrets behind its powers, especially since studying it too closely without prompting a rampage was nearly impossible.
* BreathWeapon: One powerful enough to decimate an entire city by the shockwave alone.
* DumbMuscle: It knows nothing of strategy or common sense, only how to kill. If its senses are blocked off to the point where it can't detect anyone, it thinks that everything around it is already dead and settles back down to wait.
* GodzillaThreshold: Basically a living embodiment of this trope as can be seen from the rest of this list.
* HeroKiller: During the Silver Millennium, it killed Sailor Moon's grandmother and half of the Sailor Senshi in existence at the time.
* MadeOfIron: Its scales are durable enough to resist the Silence Glaive, itself noted to be impossibly sharp. [[spoiler: That being said, they still have their limits; Ryouga's ''Tora no Seishin'' combined with his ''Shin Shishi Hōkōdan'' proves to be more than they can take.]]
* OmnicidalManiac: Its entire purpose for existing is to kill anything that isn't itself.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Other Characters]]
!Gosunkugi
* AchievementsInIgnorance: In his haste to flee Furinkan High, he accidentally slammed into an already-injured Jadeite, rendering him a non-factor for the remainder of the attack against the 'Dark Lords'.
* {{Determinator}}: His approach to getting the Senshi’s attention was described as pathetically embarrassing, but he kept at it until they arrived.
* DirtyCoward: Essentially the only reason why he doesn't [[spoiler: out Ranma's deception in the aftermath. Because he aggravated the crippling injuries of [[TheDreaded Jadeite]] when he fled Furinkan during the final battle, he is terrified that the Dark General would seek personal revenge on him if he revealed Ranma's real plan to anyone.]]
* {{Jerkass}}: He doesn't appear to care (or rather know) of the consequences of luring the Senshi and the Dark Kingdom to Nerima as long as Ranma bites it.
* KarmaHoudini: Beneda was the only one who nearly caught on to what he was pulling, but doesn't have enough proof for it. In ''Ascendant'', he is mentioned only in passing and no one ever finds out that he was the one who lured the Senshi to Nerima in the first place.
* SelfServingMemory: Gosunkugi didn’t pass out from fear. Beneda must have knocked him out upon realizing that her interrogation would never crack his resolve.

!Kasumi Tendo
* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: Yes, she really does want to make Ranma's life easier considering all he goes through, there's no doubt about that. It's just the poor choice of words she says to Luna that causes the Moon Cat to think that the so-called Dark Lords are somehow holding her hostage.

!Happosai
* DirtyOldMan: As Saturn and Neptune both unfortunately learn. It's a little ''less'' unfortunate with an army's worth of feminine-looking youma, who are reduced to a shell-shocked mess by the time he and the Joketsuzoku elders are finished with them.
* DistractedByTheSexy: Still one of his main weaknesses, which Ranma will shamelessly exploit with his girl-form. [[spoiler:His fight with Ryouga and Sailor Saturn takes a turn when he lingers on Saturn's form a little too long. To get him off of molesting the Outer Senshi, Akane throws his haul of stolen women's underwear into the air and when he stops to watch she wraps him up in smelly boys underwear and drop kicks him away.]]
* FeelingTheirAge: Though he's still as seemingly energetic and perverted as ever, Happosai is definitely starting to slow down, something he laments as he feels he hasn't had enough time to do everything he wants.
* OldMaster: He's powerful enough to give the Outer Senshi problems, and he's even able to give Kunzite a decent go of it before he gets taken out.
* SpannerInTheWorks: Acknowledged in-universe. In the first story he brings an full invasion nearly to a halt because it's composed mostly of {{Cute Monster Girl}}s and he tries to feel them all up. In the interlude when they're recruiting all the most powerful fighters they can, they decide against bringing him due to the fact that there's no telling what he'll actually do. In the sequel he derails an attempt to create a dialog between the Senshi and the Wrecking Crew, when he sees these pretty girls in ''really'' short skirts.

!Melinoe
* BerserkButton: Despite her imprisonment in the dream realm, she still cares for Helios. Anyone who attacks him does so at their own risk.
* CainAndAbel: Her brother Helios watches over dreams, where as she controls nightmares. It got to the point where Helios had to seal her away.
* EvilVersusOblivion: Well, not truly evil, but she claims she's helping the Senshi fight off the Nameless One because letting the abomination wipe out all life means no more humans to torment with nightmares.
* IKnowWhatYouFear: As the avatar of nightmares, this is her power. She seems to have an interest in Ranma and his fear of cats.
* NightmareWeaver: Her specialty, in comparison to Helios. After enough time, she starts seeing the value in crafting them in such a way that those experiencing them improve themselves from the experience.
* NotEvilJustMisunderstood: Chibi-Usa realized this of Melinoe upon finding out that her nightmares were the reason Soun and Genma didn’t run away.
* SupernormalBindings: Bound with chains marked with powerful runes that keep her confined to the dream realm so that she can't run rampant through human nightmares. As their power source is the Golden Crystal, continued use of it causes the chains to weaken. They finally break when it comes time for the protagonists to take the fight to the Nameless One.
* WhatDoesSheSeeInHim: She didn't understand Helios' relationship with Chibi-Usa, and so decided to pay a visit to her to see why she intrigued him.
* WhatIsThisThingYouCallLove: She's baffled as to why out of the countless humans who enter the dream realm, Helios had singled Chibi-Usa out. Chibi-Usa's attempts to explain it don't really seem to get the point across.

!The Nameless One
* CombatTentacles: Its main means of attack. Immense ones that shake the very earth as they strike.
* EldritchAbomination: An immense entity whose very presence affects the psyche of those nearby, driving them toward insanity.
* HumanSacrifice: Ones of the requirements for its rituals, most notably the one designed to release it from its prison, which requires an innocent victim untainted by its corruption. It settles on a nine-year-old girl. [[spoiler: The ritual fails thanks to Konatsu's last-second intervention, forcing it to use Ekim instead at the cost of reduced power.]]
* GreaterScopeVillain: An ancient malevolent being who becomes the greatest threat ever simply by reaching through with a ''fraction'' of its power.
* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler:Its prison dimension was completely cleansed, thanks to Chibi-Usa leading the charge to blast through the rift to said realm, killing all of its mortal cultists as well.]]
* MindRape: Its primary means of getting things done. It breaks the spirit of those it interacts with solely by speaking in its own tongue, rendering them insane enough that they offer no resistance to its will. Only those with highly disciplined minds [[spoiler:or in one case, strong enough love]] are capable of suppressing its effects.
* SealedEvilInACan: Was sealed in an alternate dimension by Sailor Galaxia.
