!!Jedi Order

!!Master Jedi Plo Koon
* CreepyGood: Dude doesn't look that friendly with his breather, but he's AFatherToHisMen and very genial to his prisoner.
* CuddleBug: Apparently, he enjoys petting Agen Kolar's horns, asking Feral if he can do the same with the young Zabrak.
* FluffyTamer: Wolffe accuses him from being one for deciding to bring a Sith back as souvenir, and thinking he would adopt a nexu if he could.
* GutFeeling: Sometimes, he gets "hunches" regarding the current situation. His Commander is quite skeptic about it.
* ImTakingHerHomeWithMe: His reaction to Feral -- for the record, Feral is a Sith warrior who just tried to sabotage his comm tower. The young Zabrak is completely nonplussed while Wolffe is busy ripping his hair in frustration.
* ManipulativeBastard: He slowly yet mercilessly pushes Feral to confront his convictions about his family and the ongoing war, tantalizes the young Zabrak with Force exercises more suited to him, is rather touchy-feely, all this with the explicit purpose to recruit Feral for the Jedi Order. He's more benign than most examples, but there's still the cold calculus.
* MentorArchetype: He wants for Feral to think about his life and decisions, and also offers him an alternative way to practise with the Force.
* WarriorMonk: He's leading a military platoon but when he appears onscreen, he's busy meditating, helping Feral to reflect on his choices and being a nice old man.

!!General Agen Kolar
* BirdsOfAFeather: With Clone Commander Fil -- both like explosives and dramatic entrances, and combining these two elements. High Command really regrets pairing them together.
* BigEntrance: Mentioned to enjoy these, moreso when he can add explosions.
* GreenSkinnedSpaceBabe: Male version, at least for Comet.
* TheGhost: In spite of not appearing, he has quite the reputation.
* HornedHumanoid: As an Iridonian Zabrak. Koon enjoys petting his horns, and Agen lets him because they grew up together.
* MilitaryMaverick: When high command sends you behind the enemy lines and looks ready to burst into tears when you come back, it's strongly hinted you're this.
* PersonOfMassDestruction: Courtesy of his fondness for explosions.
* StuffBlowingUp: He seems to be rather fond of his thermal detonators, and his missions often involve explosions.

* TheCavalry: Right after Sinker triggered the alarm about a Sith infiltrating the comm tower, Aayla and her clone troopers immediately ran to help. It's ultimately for nothing as the Wolfpack managed to capture the Sith on their own -- and he wasn't that much of a threat, actually.
* TheGhost: It looks like she will appear onscreen in the first two chapters, but not.

* HeroOfAnotherStory: What she did at Kamino. She's also busy directly fighting Grievous in the first chapter.
* OffscreenMomentOfAwesome: The result of her assault against Grievous? She apparently "made the cyborg cry".

!!104th Battalion

!!Commander Wolffe
* CloudcuckoolandersMinder: What he thinks he is, trying to reign his Jedi's whimsical impulses in. It might not reflect the whole truth -- Plo Koon is a Master Jedi with reasons to act as he does. Mostly.
* TheComplainerIsAlwaysWrong: He firmly believes their Sith prisoner is waiting the right moment to slaughter the battalion, laughing maniacally the whole way. Since the Sith is Feral, he just looks like a paranoid jerk.
* DefrostingIceKing: Very, veeery slowly but the progression is there -- the more he learns about Feral's DarkAndTroubledPast, the more he can't help rethinking his stance regarding the prisoner.
* EveryoneHasStandards: For all his antagonism towards Separatists and Siths, he's clearly rattled to see just how much Feral has been constantly and utterly broken by his harsh life.
* EyeScream: He gained a facial scar and a cybernetic eye following a tussle with Ventress.
* FreudianExcuse: He behaves like a jackass towards Feral because he's suffering trauma from his previous encounters with Siths, and the young Zabrak is affiliated with the Sith Lords.
* Jerkass: He's quite brusque and authoritative in the story. Considering the circumstances, it's understandable.
* KickTheDog: He snaps at Payback by mocking his crush on their Jedi general. To his credit, Wolffe immediately regrets it and later apologizes.
* ShellShockedVeteran: Losing thirty thousand brothers in one stroke then being assaulted by Ventress left a mark upon him, leading him to act paranoid.

!!Sergeant Sinker
* AmazonChaser: His eventual relationship with Savage has shades of this, given how Savage is one of the most physically imposing characters in WesternAnimation/StarWarsTheCloneWars.
* BigEater: The other troopers grouse they never get to eat fresh fruit because the Sergeant just won't stop taking it all.
* CharacterWitness: Accidentally becomes this to Feral. He gave the Sith warrior two perfect opportunities to kill him, yet the Zabrak was content to toss him aside.
* RagsToRiches: Halfway through the story, Sinker defeats Pre Vizsla in a fight, and gains the Darksaber, and (according to legend) becomes the leader of the Mandaloreans.
* SacrificialLion: Subverted. He looks set up to become one, only for Feral to get cold feet and refuse to slaughter him.
* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: He made Feral lose enough time to be captured by Plo Koon. Cue the plot kicking up in high gear.
* YouRemindMeOfX: Why Feral is startled and can't bring himself to kill or even harm him -- standing against a Sith to protect a brother is exactly what Savage did.

* InLoveWithYourCarnage: He openly drools after Agen Kolar because come on, have you seen these thermal detonators? Wolffe very pointedly tells him how TMI this is.
* NewMeat: He complains he's not a shiny anymore, but the battalion still treats him as such for being their youngest.
* OpenMouthInsertFoot: His Commander outright calls him a loudmouth, and he lives up to the nickname -- right after meeting Feral, he almost reduces him to tears then accidentally uses dirty talk.
* ThatCameOutWrong: Right after learning that Zabraks evolved from felines, Comet wonders if Feral will accept to purr for him. It already sounds bad for a human, but for a Dathomirian it's an outright proposition.
* ThoseTwoGuys: With Warthog.

* StraightManAndWiseGuy: He's busy rolling his eyes while Comet is busy embarrassing himself.
* ThoseTwoGuys: Mainly seen with Comet.

* TheCharmer: Apparently how he convinces his patients to let him treat them. Wolffe is the only one who refuses to let the magic work.
* TheGadfly: Of course he needs to give a pet name to the Sith prisoner, it annoys Wolffe!
* IgnoredEnamouredUnderling: He's crushing on Plo Koon. Since a Jedi is meant to stay celibate, it obviously won't go anywhere. Payback brushes it off with the claim that all clones get a bit googly-eyed over their general at one point, but he clearly doesn't want to talk about it.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He's rather snarky when off-duty, but his interactions with a traumatized Wolffe and the anxious Feral are nothing but gentle.
* TheMedic: A grouchy, rather vindicative one.
* TeamMom: He rather agressively motherhens his troopers.

!!The Galactic Senate

!!Senatrice Padme Amidala
* AchievementsInIgnorance: She actually calmed Savage down just as he was verging on a mental breakdown, something that would have resulted in a bloody rampage across the town.
* AllGirlsWantBadBoys: Deconstructed with Anakin, as it ultimately emotionally burned her out. She decided to cut ties with him as a consequence. Played straight considering who she ends up in a relationship with by the end of the fic...
* BroodingBoyGentleGirl: She has a gift to find herself in this kind of dynamic.
** Anakin was her first Brooding Boy. It actually chipped at her until she decided she couldn't take it anymore.
** Fox is the second one, as he's much more paranoid and tightly wound than her.
** Last but not least, Savage. She noticed he looked pained and approached him to help. She later ends up on a TeethClenchedTeamwork mission with Maul and Fox, forcing her to be the Only Sane Woman.
* DamselInDistress: Maul abducts her in order to force Plo Koon to trade Feral for her.
* HiddenWeapons: While she isn't as heavily armed as some of the clone troopers, she does go around with a blaster and two knives hidden in her skirts, along with wearing hairpins sharp enough to be daggers.
* NiceGirl: She's ready to approach a huge HornedHumanoid who doesn't look that nice because she thought he needed help.
* NoGoodDeedGoesUnpunished: Her attempt to soothe Savage's obvious emotional distress only puts her on Maul's radar, and he promptly abducts her.
* SilkHidingSteel: In front of the Sith Lord who first terrorized her as a fourteen-year-old with the intent of killing her, Amidala still manages to draw on her queenly mannerisms to not show him fear.

* BodyguardCrush: Implied to have one for Padme.
* ProperlyParanoid: He really, really disliked the idea of his charge wandering alone in the markets. As she met a Sith, he was quite justified.
* ShamefulStrip: For a clone, armour is the symbol of your personhood and individuality, so Maul forcing him to go without is a huge deal from which he visibly emerges traumatized and humiliated.

!Dathomir

!!Nightbrothers

!!Darth Maul, Sith Lord
* AffablyEvil: For all of his murderous tendencies and strong ties to the Dark Side, he can be surprisingly polite and civil.
* AloofBigBrother: Courtesy of having being raised without the slightest concept of "family bond". Deconstructed with Feral's conviction that Maul outright doesn't care about him.
* BigEntrance: When Feral muses about how his siblings are different from himself, he reveals that Maul enjoys his dramatic entrances.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: He considers Feral as a failure and is a mite jealous of him, but he refuses to give the younger Zabrak back to the Nightsisters for becoming a BreedingSlave.
* FighterMageThief: The Mage -- Maul is fully trained as a Sith, shown to be focused on the big picture and trying to teach his brothers into the Dark Side.
* GreenEyedMonster: More than a little bit annoyed by Savage's enduring affection for Feral. He feels rather smug over Savage's willing choice to spend more time with him and ignore their youngest sibling.
* HeelFaceTurn: Along with his brothers, he starts to pull one towards the end. Like Savage, his is motivated by his new relationship.
* KickTheDog: He takes Fox's armour, basically denying the clone his individuality and personhood.
* NotSoAboveItAll: For all he claims being above such sentimentality, he's clearly possessive of his siblings. And judging from his fondness for a BigEntrance, he's a bit of a drama queen.
* RedOniBlueOni: He's the aloof, manipulative Blue Oni to his more emotional and empathic brothers' Red Onis.
* SiblingsInCrime: He's training his two brothers as his enforcers. It's working with Savage, while Feral is a complete disappointment.
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: He's not happy to have Mother Talzin butting her head in his operations and plans. He has the same reaction when a deal made in the spur of the moment with Padme derails him from his mission of getting Feral back (although he turns around when he realizes that Padme's mission might help him get revenge on his old master).
* WhatIsThisThingYouCallLove: Maul just can't relate to Feral or even Savage beyond a student-teacher relationship. In spite of being able to feel possessive, he's unable to articulate or even understand why he feels this way.

* BigBrotherInstinct: He still loves and cares for Feral, but killing his baby brother screwed him good to the point he believes it's better for Feral to be scared of him. Still, he's ready to run after him when the younger Zabrak vanishes after a mission.
* CainAndAbel: An unwilling, remorseful Cain to Feral's Abel.
* CatapultNightmare: He's introduced as he wakes up screaming from reliving Feral's death at his hands.
* DefeatMeansFriendship: He becomes noticeably more civil with Sinker after the clone managed to knock him down during a fight. Though it's later revealed to be more than friendship...
* FighterMageThief: The Fighter -- Savage has been magicked into a hulking warrior who struggles to control his temper and emotions, and his knee-jerk reaction when upset is hitting or breaking something.
* HotBlooded: Constantly pissed off, and it doesn't take a lot for him to fall into AxeCrazy territory.
* LeeroyJenkins: No finesse or discretion whatsoever, when he has to attack, he rushes in.
* MindMeld: To help him avoid being controlled by the Nightsisters, Savage does one of these with Sinker. They become a couple shortly after.
* MyGreatestFailure: Breaking his sweet, trusting, innocent younger brother's neck continues to haunt him, to the point he suffers from nightmares and is destroying his relationship with Feral.
* RapeAsBackstory: When a Nightsister wants to bed a male, the male isn't allowed to say no. It actually explain why he's terrified by the possibility of Feral becoming a BreedingSlave -- he knows first-hand how damaging it would be for his sibling.
* ReluctantMonster: He hates what he's been made into, and is disgusted at his lack of self-control (to the point that he wants people to be afraid of him, and gets flustered when someone is nice to him).
* SuperStrength: It still surprises him, and he accidentally breaks a chair in his carelessness.
* TragicDream: Once upon a time, he and Feral had plans to salvage a downed ship and escape to Iridonia to live free there. Needless to say, it never came to fruition.

* AccompliceByInaction: Wolffe bluntly tells him that even if he disapproves what his brothers are doing, standing by them as they commit crimes is still going along with the Separatist agenda.
* AllLovingHero: His empathy is so deeply ingrained within him that he doesn't even feel angry or resentful towards Savage for killing him then (seemingly) abandoning him in favor of Maul.
* AscendedExtra: Canon Feral was killed in his first and only episode.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Yes, Feral is kinda wimpy and physically unimpressive... in comparison to Maul and Savage. When intent to hijack the comm tower, he managed to take Plo Koon by surprise, easily wrestle Wolffe and would have successfully escaped if he had been ready to slaughter Sinker in the way.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: The mark Mother Talzin left on his throat means she can seize his mind and reduce him to a mindless puppet whenever she wants. spoiler: It's later revealed that Palpatine had been paying Talzin to use Feral as an assassin to take out any politicians that got too close to discovering his plans. This is why the Nightsisters are so determined to get Feral back.
* BreakTheCutie: His entire life was this, and the process is still ongoing.
* BreedingSlave: Savage was always grateful to know his brother was kinda runty and shy, as it ensured he wouldn't be picked by a Nightsister to be this. Then Mother Talzin declares she will put the poor boy to stud if Maul ever decides he's hopeless as a Sith warrior, which horrifies Savage.
* CuteMonsterBoy: Plo Koon and the clone troopers minus Wolffe certainly think he's rather adorable. Interestingly, he wasn't considered much of a catch on Dathomir -- Nightsisters favoring the Hunk type instead.
* DarkIsNotEvil: Feral uses the Dark Side, dresses in black, has the typical horned and tattooed figure for a Nightbrother but he's hopelessly nice.
* DistressedDude: He was abducted in the backstory to serve as a sacrifice, then he's abducted again by a Jedi general and his troopers -- okay, Plo Koon genuinely cares about his well-being but still.
* TheEmpath: Which kinda sucks as the violent emotions fueling the Dark Side make him sick. Plo Koon showing him how to meditate Jedi-style helps with that.
* FacialMarkings: He confesses he actually was born with some and later enhanced them with tattoos.
* FighterMageThief: The Thief -- Feral tends towards stealth and sabotage, trying to avoid fighting either with talk or escape.
* InnateNightVision: As a Zabrak, he has this. PlayedForLaughs since it allows him to see Wolffe about to take some negligent troopers by surprise.
* IronicName: Feral is completely repulsed by the violent emotions needed to wield the Dark Side, naturally drifting towars the more controlled, civilized Light Side.
* HiddenWeapons: Constantly hides several blades on him. Wolffe is rather surprised to see how prevoyant he is.
* MinionWithAnFInEvil: His naturally sweet, loving personality is entirely unsuited to a Sith warrior or Dark Side-user. Plo Koon actually considers to recruit him into the Jedi Order because he's just so bad at fulfilling a Sith's requirements.
* NiceGuy: So much, the troopers are outright baffled by his affiliation with the Separatists and Siths.
* NotSoAboveItAll: Once pushed to the brink, Feral can be just as overly dramatic as his older brothers.
* ShrinkingViolet: Justified when he first wakes up as a prisoner since he's terrified out of his wits. He unwinds a bit as he understands he's safe, but tends to slip back in front of outright anger directed at him. The stories he's been told about what the Jedi do to their prisoners leaves him especially weary around Plo Koon (not for long, though).
* SiblingYinYang: He's everything Maul and Savage aren't -- quiet and unassuming, he eschews dramatics for pragmatism and tends towards the Light Side of the Force.
* SparedByTheAdaptation: He did have his neck broken by Savage, but Mother Talzin decided to resurrect him for unknown reasons.
* SquareRaceRoundClass: Every Dathomirian Zabrak born from the Nightsisters (occasionally Nightbrothers) is taught to use the Dark Side. Yet Feral's natural NiceGuy disposition makes him a perfect fit for becoming a Jedi.
* StealthExpert: Very gifted when he has to hide or blend into his surroundings. He easily evades two clone troopers by jumping into a tree, and later follows them back to their camp without being noticed.
* TheUnfavorite: Blatantly this to Mother Talzin, and convinced his own brothers think this of him too. No wonder his self-esteem is approaching zero.

!!Nightsisters

* AbusiveParents: She's implied to be Savage and Feral's mother. The former she brainwashed into a raging berserker who barely can control his fits of anger, the latter she watches being murdered only to resurrect him as CannonFodder and threaten to turn him into a BreedingSlave if he doesn't perform according her expectations.
* BadBoss: While the Nightbrothers basically live in squalor and are slaves to the Nightsisters, the Nightsisters aren't treated much better by Mother Talzin. Kycina later reveals that any Nightsister who dares to disagree with her or tries to leave gets imprisoned in a crystal, if not outright killed.
* BaitTheDog: Hey, she brought Feral back to life, maybe she does care for him after all? Or maybe not, since she forces him to accept a mission far above his competence level in spite of the potential KIA risk, and casually threatens to let the Nightsisters rape him until he fathers a child if he fails to become a fully-fledged Sith warrior.
* EnigmaticMinion: Why did she resurrect Feral, exactly? Also, she might help Maul but he has no illusions whatsoever about the fact she's ultimately in for her own plans.
* FauxAffablyEvil: She acts concerned for her children, but all three of her sons know that she'll sacrifice them at a moment's notice should the need arise. After all, she's already done it to Savage and Feral.
* WantedASonInstead: Gender inverted as girls are more valued on Dathomir, she's described as eternally disappointed to have birthed three boys.

* AxeCrazy: She kills just as easily as she breathes. Since she's a Dark Side-user, it's rather expected.
* GreaterScopeVillain: She was responsible for traumatizing Savage, Feral and Wolffe.
* HateSink: She's such a smug, sadistic monster that Maul would rather briefly ally with Plo Koon in order to take her down than give her what she wants.
* InterplayOfSexAndViolence: Downplayed as she was content to give Commander Colt a chaste kiss on the cheek... right after impaling him on her lightsaber.
* TermsOfEndangerment: Her calling Savage "mate" and "dear heart", as she bedded him in a situation in which his consent was horrendously questionable at best.
* UnseenNoMore: Her influence is very much present but Ventress herself is absent from the story until Chapter 17.
