19The under-secretary general of the United Nations who was one of the key figures in establishing the Overwatch Task Force.
20----
21* TheGhost: Hasn't made an onscreen appearance.
22* HeroWorshipper: Stated in an interview that Jack Morrison didn't just meet her expectations, he shattered them.

32\
33Overwatch's AI system. It is unknown what happened to "her" in the immediate wake of Overwatch's disbanding. However, once Winston returns to Watchpoint: Gibraltar, Athena is seen up and running.\
34\
35In-game, Athena acts as the announcer.
36-----
37* BenevolentAI: Athena tries to take care of Winston by reminding him to take care of his health.
38* TheComicallySerious: She's shown to have a bit of comedic awareness beneath her flat, professional demeanor, [[{{Beat}} pausing]] while one of Reaper's mooks is thrown through a window as she speaks in ''Recall,'' and "engaging [[HolidayMode Party Mode"]] in ''Reflections.''
39* MeaningfulName: Athena was the Greek goddess of wisdom, and here she is an AI operating Overwatch's computer systems.
40* MissionBriefing: Idle in the ship you spawn in in Control maps and you might hear Athena give a briefing on the alleged mission in the area (such as Talon operatives seeking something in Ilios's ruins).
41* MissionControl: Athena is the announcer in multiplayer, stating mission objectives and keeping track of time.
42* ParentalSubstitute: To Winston. She reminds Winston to take care of his health, and warns him to give due consideration before deciding on whether to recall former Overwatch agents.
43* SatelliteCharacter: She is mostly seen with Winston, never interacting with other former Overwatch members, nor do they mention her. Not much is known about her either.
44* TheVoice: She's the AI for Watchpoint Gibralter's computer system and as such lacks a physical body. She might have had one in the past, as a sleek white quadrupedal Omnic on display in the cinematic trailer has her symbol on its head.
45* ToBeLawfulOrGood: Originally tried to be Lawful, as she prevented Winston from reinstating Overwatch every time he wanted to do it by reminding him that Overwatch activity was illegal by the PETRAS Act. However, she quickly made the shift to Good when Talon attacked Watchpoint: Gibraltar in a raid led by Reaper, where they nearly killed Winston and acquired the locations of all Overwatch agents. After barely thwarting the attack, Athena doesn't even try to stop Winston from reinstating Overwatch.

60* DeadpanSnarker: The pilot fires back a few times at the team for turning Venice into a war zone for her to navigate through.
61* DropShip: The transport used by Blackwatch as well as their getaway.
62* GetawayDriver: When the mission goes south, it's up to her to extract Blackwatch.
63* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: Her fate after Blackwatch and Overwatch were shut down remains unknown.

71[[quoteright:213:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/qrci0z1.png]]
72
73One of Overwatch's key members, though not one of the founding members, and the loving husband of Amélie Lacroix. Apparently very good at his job of going toe-to-toe with Talon, as he was never defeated by them on the field no matter how hard they tried. To alleviate this, Talon took another option: Kidnap Amélie, transform her into Widowmaker, then have her kill him in his sleep. [[StartOfDarkness It worked.]]
74----
75* TheAce: Why Talon was unable to make a dent against him; he was just that good in his job.
76* DeathByOriginStory: His death is important as a part of Widowmaker's backstory and her rise as a Talon agent.
77* DefeatingTheUndefeatable: Subjected to this, albeit in the most underhanded and despicable way imaginable. Gérard had a stellar record of thwarting every one of Talon's plans, so they resorted to using his wife against him to succeed.
78* HappilyMarried: With Amélie. Sadly deconstructed in another way; while they have no regrets in marrying, this marriage becomes a factor of Gérard's downfall, as Amélie was his one weak spot that Talon used in order to bring him down, by brainwashing Amélie into Widowmaker and having her strike from there where he would least expect it.
79* TheLostLenore: Is this to Widowmaker, who still retains enough of her old memories of him post-brainwashing to the point where badmouthing him becomes her BerserkButton. She will even sometimes call his name if revived by a friendly Mercy player. Her visiting his grave on Christmas says it all.
80* LoveIsAWeakness: He certainly didn't think so, but his love turns out to be his one weak spot that Talon exploited to finally win against him [[KilledOffForReal permanently]].
81* LoveMakesYouDumb: Because she doesn't know the full story, Ana believed Gérard fell in love with a woman who manipulated and killed him. Widowmaker's response to this is... [[BerserkButton rather strong]].
82-->'''Ana:''' Gérard was a fool to love someone like you.\
83'''Widowmaker:''' You don't know ''anything'' about him.
84* MoralityPet: Gérard is the only death that plagues Widowmaker's mind and he is the only thing that is able to keep some semblance of Widowmaker's former self within her. Gérald is also one of the few things that will make Widowmaker angry as she reacted strongly to Ana's comment about Gérard which means that Widowmaker deeply loved him (and still does given her resurrection comments) and his memory is the only thing that gives Widowmaker a sense of humanity.
85* PosthumousCharacter: Existing only in the memory of characters close to him, he's already dead when the story begins in.
86* ShootTheShaggyDog:
87** When his wife was kidnapped by Talon he enlisted Overwatch agents to help him find her and she was eventually found but two weeks later she killed Gérard in his sleep.
88** On a related note, he was nearly assassinated more than once, with the "Retribution" comic showing him caught in a Talon's bombing of the Blackwatch facility. He ended up seriously injured, but was able to make a full recovery... [[DoomedByCanon and then Talon still got the last laugh thanks to Amélie]].
89* SlainInTheirSleep: Amélie killed him while he slept and he likely died none of the wiser that his wife had been turned.
90* TallDarkAndHandsome: Judging by the one picture we've seen of him, to the point that he's a dead ringer for Creator/ClarkGable. He also fits quite nicely in the 'tall' aspect, as he stands taller than the already {{statuesque|Stunner}} Amélie.
91* TooGoodForThisSinfulEarth: He was probably right up there with Jack Morrison and Reinhardt when it came to moral fiber, keeping Talon in check while he lived. He could only be killed in the most horrifying way imaginable, and after he died, Talon was able to wreak more havoc.
92* WhatDoesHeSeeInHer: Used to a heartbreaking degree. Because Ana doesn't know the full story of how her old friend Amélie became Widowmaker, she assumed that Gérard married a complete bitch who killed him once she was done stringing him along. Widowmaker is ''furious'' once she hears Ana's version of the story.

101\
102The sixth founding member of the Overwatch Strike Team. Dr. Mina Liao was a robotics and AI expert who was responsible for the creation of Athena and Echo ... amongst other things.
103----
104* AsianAndNerdy: The Singaporean scientist of the original Strike Team.
105* TheAtoner: Dr. Liao was originally an employee of Omnica Corporation, until the company failed and the Omnic Crisis kicked off. Guilt-ridden over her role in starting the latter, she joined Overwatch to help fight against her own creations.
106* DeadpanSnarker: Has made a snarky comment about Commander Morrison's "pending future evaluation" orders.
107* DoAndroidsDream: She was a firm believer that AIs and Omnics have souls just like humans.
108* KilledOffscreen: Jeff Kaplan confirmed that Mina died in the lab explosion depicted in Echo's origin story.
109* OddFriendship: With Cassidy, who was assigned by Dr. Liao to guard Echo. Both struck up a friendship and out of respect for the memories of her, Cassidy freed Echo from captivity so she could rejoin Overwatch.
110* OneExtraMember: Originally the Strike Team was described as a FiveManBand consisting of Morrison, Reyes, Amari, Lindholm, and Wilhelm. Liao wasn't mentioned until later.

120----
121* AmbiguousSituation: The Petras Act that made all Overwatch activity illegal was named after him, but whether or not he was actively involved in the act to disband Overwatch is unknown.
122* TheGhost: Hasn't made an onscreen appearance, or even a vocal one, as he tried to contact Morrison to no avail.
123* LastNameBasis: His first name isn't know yet.
124* NoodleIncident: Ordered the investigation of an unnamed incident in Cairo involving the murder of an Overwatch official.

131The pilot of the MV-261 Orca ships that function as the spawn room in Ilios, Nepal, and Lijiang Tower.
132----
133* AcePilot: He's the one who pilots the ships for Overwatch, so that's most likely his function.
134* AmbiguousSituation: Is he a recalled Overwatch agent or a new recruit? The answer isn't known yet.
135* TheGhost: Hasn't yet made an onscreen appearance.

144->''"Good evening, Commander Reyes. How will this look on the news? Overwatch unlawfully abducting a respected businessman? Even if you take me now, my friends would have me released within the week. All these... theatrics... have been a waste of our time."''
145
146->'''Voiced by:''' Robert Jarociński (Polish)
147\
148A corrupt businessman and agent of Talon. He is killed by Gabriel Reyes in the opening cutscene of the ''Retribution'' campaign mission.
149-----
150* AssholeVictim: Antonio is responsible for the deaths of untold amounts of Overwatch and Blackwatch agents, and is smugly rubbing it in Gabriel's face about how he could escape apprehension no matter what they do. The only reason Cassidy objects to Reyes killing him is because it went against the mission objective and attracted unwanted attention, and even then he still felt like Antonio got what he deserved.
151* BadassArmfold: When Blackwatch enters his office, Antonio is seen doing this pose, knowing full well that he has the upper hand.
152* TheBadGuyWins: Although he was killed, the publicity of the Venice Incident was the catalyst that eventually led to the fall of Overwatch.
153* BeardOfEvil: One of the higher-ups of the terrorist organization Talon while also sporting a full chin beard.
154* BlownAcrossTheRoom: [[spoiler:Reyes shoots Antonio with his shotgun, the force throwing him out through a window and into the canal below]].
155* CorruptCorporateExecutive: He poses as a benevolent businessman, but is secretly a Talon agent.
156* DestinationDefenestration: Reyes blasts him out the window with his shotgun.
157* EvilGloating: Indulges in this to Reyes' face when he and Blackwatch come to arrest him. This overconfidence ends up biting him in the ass.
158* EvilSoundsDeep: Deep and raspy.
159* FauxAffablyEvil: He is impeccably polite towards Reyes as he does his EvilGloating, but it only serves to drive home how slimy of a character he is.
160* GoodHairEvilHair: He has shaved the back and sides of his head, giving him a sinister appearance. This is especially noticeable compared to the Blackwatch agents, who each have a full head of hair.
161* OhCrap: He has just enough time to realize what Reyes has decided to do before he's blown out the window.
162* PredecessorVillain: Antonio was a very powerful and influential figure both inside and outside of Talon. His death allowed the rise of other individuals to take his place, including Akande "Doomfist" Ogundimu, Maximilien and Vialli.
163* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Gives one to Reyes, bragging that Blackwatch's breach of his compound was fruitless, because any arrest they make won't stick. For this, he is shot right in the face.
164* ScrewTheRulesIHaveConnections: His ties with Talon and various politicians make it nearly impossible to bring him in and he'd be released from lawful custody swiftly.
165* SmallRoleBigImpact: He's only a minor character in Overwatch's overall backstory, but his actions are what led to the downfall of the organization and the status quo in the present.
166* SmugSnake: From what little we see of him, Antonio is a very pompous villain, as he openly gloated to Blackwatch that their efforts were AllForNothing.
167* TemptingFate: Really, Antonio? Was bragging about your immunity, and basically admitting to be corrupt and evil, while surrounded by a group of four extremely deadly black ops agents REALLY such a good idea?
168* WeHardlyKnewYe: We only learn about him through flashback, and exposition, and even then, we aren't shown much of him before he's killed off.
169[[/folder]]
170
171[[folder:D.Cuerva- ???]]
172A talon strike captain. He was in charge of Baptiste's squadron and led strikes on Mataki and Singapore.
173----
174* LackOfEmpathy: During a raid on Monte Cristi, he ordered his men to open fire on the civilians and burn the village down to lure out the leader of a cartel, set on making them pay the consequences if they were hiding him.
175* KilledOffscreen: After Baptiste's desertion, Cuerva and his team were sent to either retrieve or eliminate him. Baptiste killed them all, saving Cuerva for last.

182[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/doomfist_ii.PNG]]
183
184A mercenary working under Talon who stole the title and technology of Doomfist from Adhabu Ngumi. Eventually he was killed by his apprentice, who went on to take his place as Doomfist.
185----
186* ClothesMakeTheSuperman: Aside from the PowerFist gauntlet all Doomfists use, his poster clearly shows him using an exoskeleton on his legs, back, and left arm, presumably as part of the RequiredSecondaryPowers he needs to use the Doomfist gauntlet.
187* TheCorrupter: He was the one to introduce Akande to mercenary work and eventually Talon.
188* TheMentor: He trained Akande as a mercenary until Akande betrayed him.
189* OnlyInItForTheMoney: He was a criminal mercenary who was primarily interested in raiding Numbani for riches. His limited ambition led to Akande killing him and becoming the new Doomfist.
190* RedBaron: He was known as "The Scourge of Numbani".
191* ASinisterClue: The second Doomfist, "the Scourge", is the only one to have his gauntlet built for his left hand ([[FridgeLogic which makes the fact that it's the same gauntlet the current right-handed Doomfist is using a little confusing]]).

196!!!'''Affiliation:''' Vishkar Corporation, Talon
197!!!'''Appearances (shorts):''' ''Moira Origin Story''
198!!!'''Appearances (comics):''' "A Better World", "Masquerade" (cameo)
199!!!'''Appearances (short stories):''' "Stone By Stone"
200[[quoteright:210:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/6o1lp41.jpg]]
201An employee of Vishkar Corporation that helped in establishing the corporation's domination in Rio de Janeiro. Unlike Symmetra, he's fully committed to Vishkar's extremist methods and has no qualms to do amoral things in the name of the company. He is later revealed to be working for Talon, being part of the council, but the connection between his two jobs is unknown.
202----
203* AmbiguousSituation: The confirmation that Sanjay is both a Vishkar employee and a member of Talon's Council of Leaders has made it unclear what it amounts to. Whether he's a double agent for Talon, or if Talon and Vishkar have formed a BigBadDuumvirate, or something else entirely, isn't known.
204* FaceOfAnAngelMindOfADemon: Looks like a completely innocent unassuming young man. He's also a fanatic who is fully willing to blow up a favela full of innocent lives just to secure a contract for Vishkar. And is a Talon leader.
205* TheGenericGuy: The Talon leaders look pretty colorful, with the likes of Doomfist, Reaper, Moira and even Maximilien (an Omnic). Sanjay looked really plain and unassuming in comparison. It still doesn't make him any less despicable.
206* PetTheDog: [[AmbiguouslyEvil His morality and ulterior goals are very much in question]], but his belief in Symmetra's abilities appear to be genuine. In "Stone By Stone", Symmetra defies his initial proposals of a large Vishkar development to make up for a treasured statue of an omnic icon, and after she spends time getting to know the local religious community and restores it into a new, spiritually-pleasing form, Sanjay is initially confused, but admiring of her work.

217
218->'''Voiced by:''' Stephane Cornicard (English)[[note]]'''Other Languages:''' Yan Tual (French), Przemysław Bluszcz (Polish), Ilya Khvostikov (Russian)[[/note]]
219\
220A wealthy Omnic with a seat on Talon's Council of Leaders, specializing in the organization's finances. Formerly just a lowly accountant, Maximilien found his talent through Talon in money laundering and found ownership of various businesses around the world.
221----
222* BigBadEnsemble: He is one of the principal antagonists of ''Overwatch'', as he is one of the Talon's council members.
223* BigNo: Max shouts "Non!" when Widowmaker rolls a snake eyes and loses all of the winnings she had made up until that point.
224* CoinWalkFlexing: In the opening cutscene of ''Storm Rising'', he's introduced rolling a casino chip over his fingers as he rides in his car, reflecting his stylishness.
225* ColdHam: He's never particularly loud, but he does posses a lot of subdued yet dramatic gravitas.
226* CorruptCorporateExecutive: Makes his mark in Talon through sheer wealth and criminal finances.
227* EatingMachine: Tracer questions if he is one, considering he runs a legitimate rum distillery as a criminal front. Winston isn't sure what the answer is.
228* EveryManHasHisPrice: When apprehended by the Overwatch Strike Team, he simply used this trope, asking their price for his release. Rather than money, Overwatch demanded [[KnowledgeBroker him to get them in touch with one of his contacts.]]
229* FantasticRacism: Claims Omnics can't gamble in casinos because of this. Though, considering they are [[ComputersAreFast Omnics]], this might be justified.
230* KnowledgeBroker: He's rich and well-connected. Overwatch Strike team captured him, but he managed to negotiate his release by promising to introduce them to someone.
231* ManOfWealthAndTaste: Heavily implied. ''Masquerade'' introduces him in a ritzy casino and the Overwatch strike team in ''Storm Rising'' notes fancy cars, Cuban cigars, and high-quality rum during the raid on his hideout. He can’t make any use of the latter two, but hey they look nice.
232* NonActionBigBad: In contrast to the likes of Doomfist, Reaper, and Moira, Max has his power in ''money'', not combat. In ''Storm Rising'', while he has a personal army to guard him, he himself doesn't put up much of a fight once he's finally caught.
233* RedEyesTakeWarning: As a member of Talon, Maximilien's optics are red.
234* SharpDressedMan: Max is always seen in a fancy suit.
235* TheTeamBenefactor: A villainous example, in that he's Doomfist's accountant and has his fingers in all sorts of companies around the world, from the Casino Monaco to the Don Rumbotico in Havana.
236* TemptingFate: Max warns Widowmaker that it's bad luck to leave the craps table while playing. Sure enough, the roll she throws over her shoulders is a snake eyes and she loses everything (not that she cares).
237* VillainousFriendship: He respects Doomfist because of their history and because he's a man of vision. He also compliments Widowmaker on her assassination of Mondatta.

242!!!'''Affiliation:''' Talon
243!!!'''Appearances (short stories):''' "What You Left Behind"
244A Vietnamese Talon operative who assigned with Mauga to track Baptiste.
245----
246* FourEyesZeroSoul: A talon operative with less apparent redeemable traits than Mauga. And he wears glasses.
247* SharpDressedMan: When he first appears.
248* TheStoic: Unlike Mauga, he doesn't bother with being affable and stays on task. His voice was described to be clinical and cold.

256
257A member of Talon's Council of Leaders who wanted to take the organization into a more profitable direction. He was the one who ordered the assassination on Katya Volskaya.
258----
259* DidntThinkThisThrough: Vialli didn't stop to think that maybe shaking Doomfist's hand after telling him his [[{{Greed}} plans for Talon]] was a bad idea. Akande makes that a lethal mistake.
260* DisneyVillainDeath: Doomfist kills him by throwing him off the roof.
261* EvilVersusEvil: Doomfist's inner Talon faction for his own. He loses.
262* {{Greed}}: He would rather Talon be more about profits than "making the world stronger". Doomfist disagreed.
263* SmugSnake: It's telling that even the other members of Talon can't stand him.

270
2713 EliteMook characters who serve Talon. Consisting of The Sniper, The Assassin and The Heavy Gunner.
272----
273!!!In General
274* ItsRainingMen: All three are first introduced when a dropship deposits them in the path of the Blackwatch Strike Team.
275
276!!!The Sniper
277%%* ColdSniper: The Sniper, as to be expected.
278* GrapplingHookPistol: Uses one to move between vantage points.
279
280!!!The Assassin
281* AxeCrazy: The assassins are incredibly unstable. They whiplash from moans of pain to insane giggling which is especially terrifying when they claw the players they catch to death.
282* BladeBelowTheShoulder: The Assassin uses arm blades.
283* {{Expy}}: Just as the whole of the gameplay of ''Retribution'' was inspired by ''VideoGame/Left4Dead'', The Assassin was inspired by the Hunter, who has a similar "pounce and slash" attack style.
284* FlawedPrototype: An early attempt at the same brainwashing technique that birthed Widowmaker, it has left her an emotionally volatile nutcase.
285* GigglingVillain: The Assassin has a very disconcerting giggle when she successfully tackles a player and starts attacking (from a gameplay standpoint, it serves as an audio cue to help players find a teammate she's pinned).
286* LightningBruiser: As all Talon units, the Assassin has more health that a PlayerCharacter and is incredibly fast and extremely deadly; the moment she pins you to the ground, she starts slashing away, leaving you helpless as your health begins to deplete at rapid speeds.
287* SwordDrag: What the Assassin does with her [[BladeBelowTheShoulder arm blades]] when she's charging towards her target.
288* TeleportSpam: The Assassin does this, {{Flash Step}}ping from wall to wall trying to find a good angle before charging towards one of the player characters.
289
290!!!The Heavy Gunner
291* DynamicEntry: The first Heavy the team encounter is dropped a fair distance away from the point on the map which [[EventFlag triggers his appearance]], but he's scripted to charge right at the team ([[DevelopersForesight unless they've all managed to clear the distance themselves quickly enough]]).
292* EvilLaugh: The Heavy Gunner has a guttural one which telegraphs when he's about to start shooting.
293* GatlingGood: The Heavy Gunner hefts ''[[GunsAkimbo two]]'' of these.
294* FoeTossingCharge: The Heavy Gunner can perform one (quite similar to Reinhardt's), which allows him to pin a character down and smack anyone else out of the way.
295* ImplacableMan: The Heavy Gunner is vulnerable to some crowd control effects, mainly ones that give a character pause for a moment (''Steel Trap, Flashbang'', Mei's primary fire), but anything that would push him around (''Charge, Concussion Mine, Concussive Blast, Soundwave, Rocket Punch, Halt'', etc.) has absolutely no effect on him. ''Charge'' and ''Rocket Punch'' send both him and Reinhardt/Doomfist to the ground if they collide, and he can't move Orisa using ''Fortify''.

307Former leader of the Crusaders, the order of technologically empowered knights that Reinhardt hails from. In one of the most famous battles of the Omnic Crisis, Balderich and a handful of his best soldiers defended Eichenwalde, making a last stand against the advancing automaton army. Outnumbered and outgunned, they were ultimately slain during the resulting combat. However, thanks to their valiant efforts, the German military was able to push back the Omnic offensive and win the fight.
308-----
309* AscendedExtra: {{Downplayed|Trope}}. He used to be a background character during the last defense in Eichenwalde, but ''Honor and Glory'' gave him a much more bigger role and expanded his characterization without him being playable, since he's supposed to be a PosthumousCharacter.
310* AttackItsWeakpoint: Balderich is on the receiving end of this during the Battle of Eichenwalde. An OR-14 shoots the exposed part of his shield emitter, disabling it, before stabbing Balderich in a vulnerable spot in his armor.
311* BigGood: Of the Crusaders, when he was alive. He's seen protecting conventional military soldiers during "The Last Bastion" as well. It's also literal since his size is equal to Reinhardt's.
312* BlingOfWar: Not even decades of neglect and disuse has tarnished his armor that much.
313* BloodKnight: Downplayed as unlike a young Reinhardt, he believed that the mission and safety of their men came first, but when he receives news that the Omnics are incoming, he gives orders while using dancing terms and gives a hearty laugh when Reinhardt jokes at his expense while handing him his rocket hammer.
314* CarryABigStick: Wielded a [[RocketPoweredWeapon Rocket]] Mace in life.
315* ColonelBadass: He was Colonel Balderich Von Adler at the time of the Battle of Eichenwalde.
316* CoolHelmet: Has one similar to Reinhardt's, except his helmet is modeled after a gryphon's head as opposed to Reinhard's crown-shaped helmet.
317* DavidVersusGoliath: Though Balderich is larger than most examples, in addition to the Bastion units and a substantial air force, Balderich and his compatriots had to contend with dozens of the HumongousMecha that were first seen in the comic short "Destroyer".
318* DeathByOriginStory: His sacrifice and death are what motivated Reinhardt to join Overwatch, become its most stalwart of members, and instill in him a sense of duty to others over himself.
319* DoNotGoGentle: Balderich was going to bleed out from a stab wound, but a wave of omnics were beating down on the other side of the castle doors. Balderich was not going to die until every last one of them was destroyed first.
320* DualWielding: Reinhardt gives his own hammer to Balderich just before his LastStand, allowing him to kick twice as much ass before going down.
321* DyingMomentOfAwesome: DualWielding Rocket Hammers in an epic one-man LastStand against the Omnics. With a fatal stab wound in his side. And he ''won''. And still had enough strength left in him to make it back to his throne just so he could die sitting in it.
322* AFatherToHisMen: He has great respect for teammates and when Reinhardt recklessly abandons his team for glory, he calls him out on it and demands him to return to them. This trope is also shown with Reinhardt because their friendship can look paternal at times.
323* GoThroughMe: And the Omnics eventually did, but it cost them dearly.
324* HeroAntagonist: Of the animated short "The Last Bastion" (featuring Bastion), where he is responsible for killing several of Bastion's fellow Omnics in his attempt to protect Germany.
325* HeroOfAnotherStory: His role in "The Last Bastion" as well as how he got invited to join Overwatch in "Honor and Glory".
326* HeroicSacrifice: Chose to stay in Eichenwalde to slow down the Omnics and buy time for Germany to formulate a decisive counterattack.
327* LanternJawOfJustice: A bit more rounded than the normal example, but still enough to wonder how his helmet fit. And held himself to a level of honor that truly fulfilled the 'Justice' part of it.
328* LargeAndInCharge: Put Reinhardt side-by-side with his corpse and you'll see that Balderich was about two feet taller than his 7'4 subordinate.
329** Not as extreme, but compare the two in Honor and Glory and you will see that Balderich is around half a head taller than Reinhardt.
330* LastStand: After sustaining a fatal wound, he knew he was going to die no matter what he did, so he tells Reinhardt to go back and protect the soldiers while he holds off the Omnics by himself. And he ''does'', destroying every last one before dying of blood loss from his earlier wound.
331* LegacyCharacter: Of a sort; his armor is available as a skin for Reinhardt.
332* LightIsGood: His armor is colored light and gold, just like a KnightInShiningArmor, and he acted like one, too. He died protecting his country from the advancing Omnics. Years of disuse and neglect left his armor in a state of rust, however.
333* LuckilyMyShieldWillProtectMe: Had the same shield ability as Reinhardt's. Didn't stop him from dying, though.
334* ManlyFacialHair: Look at that mustache-muttonchops combination and the towering figure they grow from, and try saying that it ain't manly.
335* MeaningfulName: two;
336** A bald man named ''Balderich''
337** His name, '''Balder'''rich , is in reference to Norse mythology. Baldr was a Norse god of love, peace, justice, purity and light. Baldur was part of the Aesir, a tribe of warriors, and was beloved by everyone. Like Baldr, Balderich was beloved by his fellow crusaders, firmly believed in justice, was forgiving and his armour was the brightest among the crusaders (Baldr was known to radiate light through his sheer presence). In the myths, Baldr had a son, Forseti, who was the god of justice and Balderich was known as a [[AFatherToHisMen paternal figure]] to the crusaders and named [[TheParagon Reinhardt]] as his successor due to his potential as a just figure.
338* MilitarySuperhero: He was a member of the German military force, and the leader of the Crusaders.
339* MythicalMotifs: Gryphons, which often adorned Germanic coat of arms belonging to nobility and/or royalty. They even adorned his throne and PoweredArmor.
340* OffscreenMomentOfAwesome: That humongous battle featured in "The Last Bastion"? It wasn't the fight that killed him. He and his Crusaders actually managed to live through that.
341* OneManArmy: AND HOW! He takes on scores of Bastion and [=OR14=] units, by himself, while already mortally wounded, and destroyed them all before finally succumbing to his wounds.
342* PosthumousCharacter: He died thirty years before the events of the game. One of the objectives in the Eichenwalde map is to retrieve his remains located in his castle.
343* PoweredArmor: Wore a set that is adorned with gryphon insignias, similar to how Reinhardt's armor had lions on it.
344* PunnyName: '''Bald'''erich certainly is quite bald. Balde'''rich''' has [[BlingOfWar gold and fur trimmed armor]] and apparently his own castle, so he is also quite rich.
345** Not to mention that '''Balder'''ich's [[Characters/NorseMythology death was a major tearjerker]].
346* RocketPoweredWeapon: Just like the other Crusaders, Balderich wielded a massive, rocket powered hammer in combat.
347* SoProudOfYou: When Reinhardt gives him his hammer, Balderich gives him this look.
348* TakeUpMySword: ''He'' was the original Crusader chosen for Overwatch, not Reinhart. When Balderich realized his death was imminent, he passed the responsibility on to Rein.
349* ThrowingYourSwordAlwaysWorks: Throws Reinhardt's hammer at one of the Omnics attacking him, sending it flying through a stone railing and into a wall.
350* VictoriousLoser: He and his elite guard perished against the Omnics in Eichenwalde, but held out long enough for the rest of the German military to outflank the machines and turn the tide of the battle.
351* TheVonTropeFamily: Balderich '''von''' Adler. Given the giant castle, it's possible his family was once a noble house that ruled Eichenwalde until the abolition of the German nobility in 1919.
352* WhereItAllBegan: Was born in Eichenwalde and eventually died there.

365* BatterUp: This is what a group of thugs want her to do to a defenseless Omnic, believing they're giving him "what he deserves". She ultimately refuses.
366* BeautyIsNeverTarnished: Soldier 76 hugs her to protect her from a grenade that explodes right next to her. He's torn up and visibly shaken, she has not so much as a smudge on her face.
367* TheBusCameBack: She reappears in ''Searching'' during Zarya's mission to track down Sombra.
368* GirlishPigtails: Alejandra has her hair braided into two tails that rest across her shoulders.
369* MoralityPet: Brings out the human side in the otherwise cold Soldier: 76.
370* OneSteveLimit: A variation on an aversion, but Zarya points out that her first name, Aleksandra, is effectively the same as Alejandra as part of a way to bond with the young girl.

397\
398Two young boys, Brian (age 15) and Timmy (age 6), who appear in the cinematic trailer, touring an Overwatch museum exhibit when they find themselves in the middle of a fight between heroes Tracer and Winston, and villains Widowmaker and Reaper. They are heavily implied to be siblings through their interactions and matching hair/eye colors.
399----
400* AffectionateGestureToTheHead: Brian to Timmy towards the end of the trailer.
401* AllThereInTheScript: Their names were revealed as part of an [[http://www.asoundeffect.com/overwatch-trailer-sound/ interview with the sound designer, Paul Menicini.]]
402* BadassBystander: Brian, realizing that Widowmaker was about to steal Doomfist's gauntlet, rushes from cover and claims it first while Widowmaker was distracted. Then, thanks to a distraction by Timmy, equips the gauntlet and uses it to [[PunchedAcrossTheRoom punch Widowmaker to the other side of the room]]. And this is despite Widowmaker being a thousand leagues above his game.
403* BlueIsHeroic: Brian is clothed in a blue hoodie (a [[VideoGame/StarcraftII Raynor's Raiders]] hoodie to be exact) and gets to help out Tracer and Winston through some quick thinking and the trope below.
404* ChildrenAreInnocent: Timmy acts much like any other kid his age would, but seems to be cheerfully oblivious to the darkness behind Overwatch's disbandment (which was probably covered in the Museum) and the CrapsaccharineWorld he lives in. He even thinks Winston and Tracer's fight with Widowmaker and Reaper (which is very, very real) is all part of the museum exhibit display. On the other hand, Brian is less than enthusiastic until the very end.
405* ConvenientlyTimedAttackFromBehind: Timmy's shout of "Watch out!" gave Brian sufficient time to equip Doomfist's gauntlet and punch Widowmaker across the room.
406* DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu: Brian, a 15 year old civilian boy, punching Widowmaker, an enhanced super-assassin working for one of the most vicious, immoral evil conspiracy. Yeah, that counts.
407* {{Foil}}:
408** The two boys are this to each other. Timmy is chubby and shorter, in addition to being youthfully exuberant and optimistic along with being a complete fanboy. In contrast, Brian is lankier and rather cynical about Overwatch-related matters after their disbandment.
409** Brian could also be considered one to Hanzo. Both are older brothers whose personalities contrast with their respective younger brothers, and have become cynical over time due to having lost hope. Unlike Hanzo, who has yet to regain his, Brian finds hope by the end of the trailer.
410* {{Foreshadowing}}: Timmy has a cast on his right arm, a subtle hint for when Brian dons Doomfist's gauntlet on his own right arm.
411* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: Both of them are rather kind and heroic, but Brian only gets to show it towards the end of the confrontation.
412* HeroWorship: Timmy, being a kid, admires the heroes of Overwatch. Brian is less enthusiastic until after he helps Tracer and Winston (the real deal!) defeat Widowmaker and Reaper.
413* HeyYouHaymaker: PlayedStraight when Brian shouts "Hey!" before he [[PunchedAcrossTheRoom clocks]] Widowmaker, after she turned her attention to Timmy.
414* InTheHood: Brian wears a hood over his head, and it makes him look suitably withdrawn and aloof to coincide with his cynical personality. It falls off once he punches Widowmaker, and he is notably more hopeful and positive after the fight.
415* KidHero: Neither of them have training or powers, meaning that they're mostly below for the majority of the fight, then Brian steps up with a Doomfist gauntlet punch.
416* TheLoad: Winston and Tracer are preoccupied with protecting them for most of the trailer, which causes Winston to take numerous hits from Reaper's Hellfire Shotguns, incapacitating him until he sees Reaper crush his glasses. Subverted, in the end, when Brian manages to steal Doomfist's gauntlet first and uses it to turn the tide of the battle in the hero's favor.
417* OhCrap: Brian briefly has this look on his face when Doomfist's gauntlet deactivates and he sees a ''very'' pissed-off Widowmaker get up after punching her.
418* PunchedAcrossTheRoom: Brian manages don the Doomfist to land a punch on Widownmaker, sending her flying across the room. The recoil sends him flying too, as he is much smaller, weaker than the person it was made for, and not trained in its use.
419* SpannerInTheWorks: Debatable since being unpowered, civilian, children made the heroes take a few shots to protect them. Yet, had Brian and Timmy not been there to steal the Doomfist gauntlet first, while Reaper and Widowmaker were distracted, then the villains may have very well won the day.
420* WouldHitAGirl: Brian doesn't even hesitate to deck Widowmaker using the Doomfist. A JustifiedTrope, as Widowmaker is a highly dangerous individual who most certainly WouldHurtAChild for standing in her way.
421* YouthfulFreckles: Brian has a few of these remaining, symbolic of his lingering child-like enthusiasm that his brother has a great deal more of.

431Roadhog's old friend. A scavenger in Junkertown who supplies his hogdrogen in exchange for scrap.
432----
433* AmbiguouslyEvil: He's a Junker, appears as old if not older than his friend which heavily suggests he was in the Australian Liberation Front, and he encourages Roadhog not to "give them the satisfaction" of staying quiet. That said, he's a hardworking man who runs his own business and doesn't get involved with the evils of the world. Overall, he comes across as a bitter man who's nonetheless moved from his past.
434* CoolOldGuy: An older man who earns his cred by being the only person Roadhog genuinely respects.
435* FirstNameBasis: Refers to Roadhog by his actual name, Mako. It really tells you what kind of [[MoralityPet terms]] they're on that he can do that.
436* MoralityPet: For Roadhog. He may be his ''only'' friend that he's had for decades, and it's telling when not even Junkrat (whom Roadhog views as an annoyance) could be considered this.

Not much is known of the first Doomfist. The second was a mercenary under the employ of Talon. The current Doomfist is one of the leaders of Talon.
445----
446* TheHero: His sub-moniker as "the Savior" and his rather triumphant appearance in his depictions, compared to the fearsome Scourge and the sinister Successor, seems to indicate that he was this.
447* HisNameReallyIsBarkeep: Doomfist is the English translation of his Swahili name, Adhabu Ngumi.
448* LegacyCharacter: Two different people inherit the title of Doomfist after him. Unfortunately, neither holds his ideals.
449* NonIndicativeName: Despite being literally named Doomfist he was the only hero to use the title.
450* PowerFist: The eponymous Doomfist. Notably he's the first to build one, with the others copying or outright stealing the idea and technology.
451* RedeemingReplacement: Inverted. Each of his successors is more villainous than the last.

460
461Tracer's girlfriend. Not much is known about her, but she is known to live with Tracer in King's Row, and she has connections to Winston, and thus knows of Tracer's involvement with Overwatch.
462----
463* LipstickLesbian: Far more feminine in appearance, and mannerism, than the decidedly more tomboyish Tracer, her girlfriend.
464* MuggleMageRomance: Tracer is a high-flying adventurer with time manipulation abilities who keeps company with the same element, making her this world's equivalent of a superhero. Emily, from what we can parse, appears to be a comparatively mundane young lady, making her the muggle to Tracer's [[Administrivia/TropesAreFlexible "mage"]].
465* MythologyGag: She seems to be based off of concept art for Tracer, as seen in the ''Art of Overwatch'' book.
466* NiceGirl: She's shown to be just as kind-hearted as her girlfriend. In ''Reflections'', she tells Tracer to not worry about getting her a present and tries to get her to calm down because she tends to "[[ChronicHeroSyndrome do too much]]" at once. She also accompanies her girlfriend to visit Winston so the big guy wouldn't be alone for the holidays. In ''London Calling'', she's concerned about Lena's happiness while still remaining supportive of her heroics, doesn't buy the anti-Omnic rhetoric permeating London, and adamantly reassures Tracer that Mondatta's death is not her fault.
467* OfficialCouple: With Tracer. They've been together for quite some time already and the ''Zero Hour'' cinematic shows that they still are with Tracer even having a picture of her taped to the control panel of the ship she's flying. The ''London Calling'' comic shows off a bit more of her relationship with Tracer as well.
468* OnlyOneName: Her last name is unknown.
469* SatelliteLoveInterest: So far, her most prominent character trait is her relationship with Tracer. Thus, we don't know much about her other than she's Tracer's girlfriend, likes scarves, is at least sympathetic to omnic rights, and is presumably financially self-sufficient enough to support owning a flat in the middle of London. This may change in the future if/as she makes more appearances.
470* SecretKeeper: Since the ''Reflections'' comic is set in the present day, post-Recall, she's this: she knows that Tracer is part of the new Overwatch put together by Winston. ''Uprising'' also reveals that even when it was active, Overwatch was not permitted to operate in the UK, which adds another layer to this depending on how the nation's attitude has changed in the intervening years. ''London Calling'' reveals that she's fully aware that Lena still runs around London performing vigilante acts as well as being aware that Winston periodically sends Lena parts to keep her Chronal Accelerator in working condition.
471* TheTeamBenefactor: To an extent for Tracer, at least. WordOfGod refers to the apartment in ''Reflections'' as hers, so she's doing what she can with her own resources to keep her heroics-prone girlfriend out of the cold.[[invoked]]
472* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: Emily's longer hair and easygoing fashion sense mark her as being more traditionally feminine than her sporty, energetic partner.
473* UnderstandingBoyfriend: {{Gender Inverted|Trope}}. Considering her girlfriend is, well, [[ChronicHeroSyndrome Tracer]], Emily is very patient and forgiving. Tellingly, she's just as comfortable as her girlfriend when they're both having Christmas dinner with the latter's best friend… who happens to be a talking gorilla from the moon. In ''London Calling'', she outright states that Tracer's desire to do good is part of the reason she fell in love with her in the first place.
474* UnfazedEveryman: She's in a relationship with a time-traveler whose best friend is an intelligent ape and who are both involved with a plan to revive an illegal police organization, and yet she appears to not even bat an eye at any of this over the course of ''Reflections''. What ''does'' get a reaction out of her? Seeing the scarf she got for Christmas.
475** Averted in ''London Calling'' as she's shown to be more emotive. She clearly looks worried about Lena/Tracer when asking the latter how she's holding up after Mondatta's death. She's also on the verge of crying in the fourth issue of ''London Calling'' when she sees Lena's Chronal Accelerator malfunctioning, only keeping her composure in order to hold Lena's hand while Lizzy repairs the Accelerator.
476* YouthfulFreckles: To a more noticeable degree than her girlfriend's; Emily's extend to her shoulders.

485A bird that follows Bastion around everywhere. It accidentally re-activated Bastion while trying to build a nest on its shoulder.
486----
487* AmbiguousGender: It's trying to build a nest, but it's still unclear whether Ganymede is a boy or a girl.
488** If Ganymede's appearance in the Lunar skin is anything to go by (a rooster), it might be male.
489** Its name also comes from a male character in Myth/GreekMythology (specifically, a prince that Zeus took as a lover... as an eagle...)
490* BecomingTheCostume: Bastion's Year of the Rooster skin changes Ganymede as well. Not only does Ganymede get the appearance of a rooster, the few chirps and tweets they make gets changed into a rooster's call as well (mostly heard in Bastion's intros that involve Ganymede).
491** That same patch also altered Ganymede's "lines" in other skins to match its skin-specific colorations: Steambot!Ganymede now coos like a pigeon, for example.
492** Bastion’s Stealth and Gwishin skins turn Ganymede into a flying drone, complete with robotic beeps.
493* CartoonCreature: Bird equivalent. Other than being some sort of cardinal-like songbird, it matches no real species.
494* DisturbedDoves: Briefly flew away after Bastion went into turret mode, destroying its nest in the process. It comes back later though.
495* IKnowYoureInThereSomewhereFight: Not exactly a fight, but Ganymede tried building another nest on top of Bastion, which ended up calming it down after its combat programming took over.
496* LoyalAnimalCompanion: Not even having their nest destroyed by Bastion when it went into turret mode drove them away for good.

533* CasualDangerDialogue: Despite being right in the middle of a chaotic battle between the two teams, Glitchbot will pass the time by poking fun at the various heroes and complaining about their performances.
534* DeadpanSnarker: His jabs at some of the heroes definitely qualify.
535* FantasticRacism: A victim of it and presumably why he needs the Attacking team on ''Hollywood'' to escort him. Though he himself seems doesn't seem to be above the other way around, and is rather audibly annoyed with human actors and "mandatory human hiring quotas."

553----
554* AdaptiveAbility: What makes it so dangerous. After every attack it adapts its tactics and machinery to counter what was previously brought against it.
555* ItCanThink: It adapts not just its weaponry and armor, but its tactics as well. In ''Shooting Star'', its latest gambit was to hold several of its combat drones in reserve and use them to launch an attack mere days after it was driven back, counting on the defenders to still be recovering from its attack while having let their guard down under the assumption that it would follow its typical months long recovery schedule.
556* HellIsThatNoise: A loud distorted tone, the same kind uttered by machines during the Omnic Crisis.
557* {{Kaiju}}: It's huge, at least the size of a skyscraper.
558* MeaningfulName: "Gwishin" is a Korean term for ghosts of deceased humans. Considering the thing literally rose out of the sea one day without warning and attack, it's easy to see how it got its name. Its nature as a remnant of the Omnic crisis, and its single-minded continuation of its old mission, is also much like a ghost who is too attached to move on, going through the motions of its old life.
559* MookMaker: It can create other combat drones to back it up, making it harder to focus on it without being torn to shreds by its backup.
560* TheRemnant: To the Omnic Crisis era omnics. Built during the period of war, it continues to carry out their offensive against the nearest population center.

677An omnic who led the monks of the Shambali Monastery following the first Omnic Crisis, he preached his message of unity between humans and Omnics across the world. He was killed by Widowmaker during one of his public appearances in King's Row in a bid to incite another war between humans and omnics.
678----
679* TheAtoner: Like Zenyatta, he sought to mend the relationship between humans and Omnics after the Omnic Crisis.
680* BoomHeadshot: Widowmaker sniped his head section.
681* ColorMotif: His Omnic body and clothes are colored white to denote his purity, compassion, and good morals. But in Asian cultures, white means death - he is killed from a headshot at the hands of Widowmaker.
682* DueToTheDead: After his death, many of his followers erected a memorial in tribute to him, which can be found in the King's Row map amidst anti-Omnic graffiti.
683* EyesAlwaysShut: Like Zenyatta, his eyes are sensors that are always closed.
684* GoodShepherd: A benevolent holy (robot) man preaching coexistence between humans and Omnics.
685* InnocentlyInsensitive: On the receiving end. Before his ill-fated speech in London, some humans had set up refreshments in his quarters which he obviously couldn't enjoy. He wasn't bothered by it, seeing it as an innocent oversight and a sign of how little humans and omnics are separated, and offered them to Tracer.
686* LightIsGood: An Omnic with a white body, wore white clothes, and was a GoodShepherd who worked to insure peace between humans and Omics.
687* MeaningfulName: As a robot guru, his title "Tekhartha" combines "technology" with "Siddhartha," the name of the Buddha. His codename during the King's Row speech was also "Halo", which has obvious religions connotations.
688* MusicalThemeNaming: He and Zenyatta are named after Music/ThePolice's 1980 album ''Music/ZenyattaMondatta''.
689* NiceGuy: A peaceful, kind, and honest Omnic. He lost his life speaking out for peace between the humans and the Omnics.
690* NoHistoricalFiguresWereHarmed: His design is reminiscent of UsefulNotes/MahatmaGandhi but his character arc more closely resembles [[UsefulNotes/CivilRightsMovement Martin Luther King, Jr.]]. Both were members of a race that was hated and discriminated against, and were strong advocates of racial equality, with their movements gaining a massive following. Both ultimately died from a sniper's bullet, and both deaths ignited racial tensions. But while the aftermath of King's death was a short and intense period of race riots, Mondatta's death turned King's Row into a racist hellhole for Omnics as racial tensions climbed higher than ever before.
691* OddFriendship: Though he and Zenyatta parted ways on how best to help humans and Omnics achieve peace and unity, they never lost their deep and fundamental respect for one another. Zenyatta deeply mourns both his death and the fact that it ultimately led to even more suffering for the Omnics of King's Row.
692* ReligiousRobot: The leader of the Shambali Monastery.
693* TooGoodForThisSinfulEarth: Mondatta was a peaceful soul who advocated peace and unity between humans and Omnics alike through his religious teachings. Widowmaker put an end to his efforts with a clean shot. In a variation of this trope, he was too good for the sinful earth, and his death made the area he lived ''even more sinful''.
694* WeHardlyKnewYe: He's shot dead by Widowmaker in the ''Alive'' animated short in what little screentime he had outside of backstory.

705A genius inventor from Numbani, who at the age of [[ChildProdigy eleven]] has already made great strides in the fields of robotics and artificial intelligence. For that, she has become the latest recipient of the Adawe Foundation's "genius grant", rewarding her many accomplishments. After witnessing an [=OR15=] being destroyed by the supervillain Doomfist, she proceeded to build a custom unit dubbed "Orisa" to serve as Numbani's protector.
706----
707* AGirlAndHerX: She and Orisa have this dynamic. ''The Hero of Numbani'' especially highlights the kinship between the two, and how both of them help each other grow as people; Orisa growing from a rigid, inexperienced enforcer to a compassionate hero, and Efi growing past her insecurities into leading Numbani into a safer, brighter future.
708* AscendedFanboy: ''The Hero of Numbani'' reveals she was a fan of Lúcio, as well as an admirer of the long-dormant Overwatch, regularly watching [[ShowWithinAShow a cartoon based on the organization's exploits]]. During the events of the book, she and Orisa end up personally meeting up with Lúcio for a Unity Day event, and the very end implies that the two have gotten in touch with a contact leading them to the newly reformed Overwatch.
709* BadassBystander: She witness and survived several of Doomfist's attacks on Numbani, the first time way before she even built Orisa, the second time even getting ''[[GoThroughMe in between]]'' him and Orisa as she was downed, something that [[VillainRespect even Doomfist was impressed with]].
710* ChildProdigy: Again, she's a brilliant roboticist and AI researcher and smart enough to build a fully combat-capable robot at the age of eleven. ''The Hero of Numbani'' establishes that she is a genius, but [[AgeAppropriateAngst deals with problems of being a still-developing preteen]], including distance from some of her family and friends, ostracization from her contemporaries, as well as the much greater weight of making Orisa and keeping Numbani safe from Doomfist.
711* ADayInTheLimelight: Efi is the full-blown protagonist of the novel ''The Hero of Numbani'', following her journey in mysteriously receiving her robotics grant, her constructing of Orisa to oppose Doomfist, and the relatively smaller personal conflicts with her friends and family as she carves her own path to being a hero.
712* FacialMarkings: She has six white dots around each of her eyes.
713* FanGirl: Unabashedly one of Lúcio, to a point where she has a rivalry with her friends over which of them is his biggest fan. [[{{Squee}} She briefly goes a little nuts]] in ''The Hero of Numbani'' upon realizing she was messaged by him via his verified [=HollaGram=] account.
714* GadgeteerGenius: An AI and robotics genius.
715* GeniusSweetTooth: In the promotional teaser images for Orisa, Efi's list features the cereal Lucio-oh's and a spray for Orisa called "Just Dessert" shows her happily preparing to eat a pineapple, banana and kiwi sundae.
716* GradeSkipper: She ''began'' taking advanced math and science in her first year of elementary school, was then placed in junior-high classes halfway through the year, and by the end of the next year, she was self-teaching herself advanced algebra and geometry. By the present day, she's up to senior high-school level courses [[ChildProdigy despite still being a few years away from her teens.]]
717* ImprobableAge: She's already one of Numbani's greatest minds at the tender age of eleven. ''The Hero of Numbani'' establishes a different layer of improbability regarding her obtaining the Adawe Foundation grant -- she genuinely wasn't qualified for candidacy in part due to her age, but after being pressured by an anonymous source to apply ([[spoiler:later suggested to be Doomfist]]), she submitted an application and was surprised when she ended up winning.
718* NiceGirl: She's a sweet, upbeat girl who wants to use her technology to better peoples' lives and protect them. Even when she ends up in spats with her friends and loved ones (including Orisa), [[ChildrenAreInnocent she harbors no real malice to anyone]] and is quick to try and get back together.
719* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Ice cream, as shown by the spray where she's about to dig into a sundae. Orisa's Ice Cream skin is a likely nod to to Efi's love of it, too.

Okoro's last act is to turn his weapon upon himself and [[HeroicSuicide blow his CPU out to prevent Anubis from using him as a weapon against his team.]]
733* ForgottenFallenFriend: Downplayed. In the comic itself, not much time is spent dwelling on his death, but if both are on the Temple of Anubis map Fareeha and Zenyatta will discuss it.

792* BrokenPedestal: After Sombra's antics, he lost the trust of his own people.
793* CorruptCorporateExecutive: Supposedly uses the company funds as his own piggy bank and bribes the public officials to benefit [=LumériCo=]. [[UnreliableNarrator Supposedly]].
794* MagnificentMoustachesOfMexico: He's Mexican, and he has quite the impressive soup strainer. Interestingly, he's a high-ranking businessman instead of something more stereotypical for this trope like a bandito, but he still ''may'' be into some shady stuff if there's [[AmbiguousSituation any truth]] to Sombra's dirt on him.

797[[folder:Vernand Sainclair - ''Haiti'']]
798!!Vernand Sainclair
799!!!'''Appearances (short stories):''' "What You Left Behind"
800
801A former handler of Overwatch, current owner of Sainclair Pharmaceuticals, and secretly a longtime associate to Talon.
802----
803* BlackmailBackfire: Once Baptiste, Mauga, and the Talon squad corner him with an inch of his life, he attempts to bribe them all with pertinent information: Winston's recall message, informing them that Overwatch was reuniting. This completely fails because EverybodyKnewAlready -- as Nguyen pointed out, Sainclair wasn't the only former Overwatch agent on Talon's current payroll.
804* CorruptCorporateExecutive: To a degree that [[EvenEvilHasStandards even Talon is quite disgusted with]] -- Sainclair Pharmaceuticals holds a monopoly over Haiti's pharmaceutical supply, and the man behind it has taken gross advantage of the high profits by further ratcheting up the prices at expense of the welfare of Haiti's citizens. Only time will tell if Baptiste's pressure to reform his practices (supplying every clinic in the country free of charge) ends up sticking.
805* TheMole: He ended up secretly colluding with Talon even while he was still working with Overwatch, feeding them inside information that ensured Talon had a persistent edge over the organization.
806* NonActionGuy: He explicitly never worked in the field while in Overwatch, and was simply a handler working behind-the-scenes.
807* SaveTheVillain: Despite ''really'' wanting to for a moment, Baptiste decides against murdering Sainclair in cold blood and instead rescues him from the rest of the Talon squad. Sainclair doesn't get off scot-free, though -- in exchange for a safe escape, Baptiste requests his information on Overwatch ''and'' making it so his pharmaceutical company begins supplying every clinic in Haiti free of charge, [[{{Blackmail}} otherwise he'll let Talon know where he's hiding]].
808* TreacheryIsASpecialKindOfEvil: He colluded with Talon during his time in Overwatch, seeing that Overwatch was already in a losing battle with itself and selling out information that would give Talon an advantage in their war for a personal profit. Even Mauga -- himself working for Talon -- [[EvenEvilHasStandards is appalled by this level of betrayal]]. To a lesser extent, the reason why he and the rest of Talon were coming close to assassinating him is because Sainclair Pharmaceuticals owed a share of profits to Talon, and [[CorruptCorporateExecutive he stopped paying them even as prices and profits increased]].
809* VillainHasAPoint: [[CorruptCorporateExecutive A grossly predatory capitalist at heart to be sure]], but Sainclair was on the pulse of Overwatch's corruption and eventual fate. Him [[TreacheryIsASpecialKindOfEvil taking advantage of his position by selling them out to Talon and accelerating their doom]] sure won't win him any heroism points, but he was correct in assuming that Overwatch had taken him for granted, and figured their deeper systemic problems would cause their collapse ''eventually''.

817Ana's husband and Pharah's father.
818----
819* FirstNameBasis: For whatever reason, while Pharah calls Ana "mum," she simply calls her dad "Sam."
820* LockedOutOfTheLoop: Apparently, he doesn't know that Ana's still around, and Pharah questions her about this (though keep in mind, canonically, Pharah apparently isn't aware of Ana being alive either):
821-->'''Pharah:''' Mum, don't you think it's time you told Sam you're alive?\
822'''Ana:''' You let me worry about what your father needs to know.
823* NonActionGuy: Ana and Pharah never bringing him up in the battle-context of Overwatch even in the former’s Origin Story video suggests that he’s not a soldier or fighter. Confirmed by Michael Chu that Pharah was supposed to be a child of a soldier (Ana) and "another kind of public servant".
824* UnknownCharacter: Barely anything is known about him other than that he appears to be of Pacific Northwest-area First Nation descent, he’s a Canadian citizen, and his relation to our Amari heroines. His name wasn’t even revealed until WordOfGod revealed it, though it was later namedropped in an interaction between Pharah and Ana.

832Genji and Hanzo's father, and the former head of the Shimada Clan. He set his sons on divergent paths with distinctly different styles of raising each of them. Hanzo was trained to take over the clan, while Genji was the more spoiled one and had a life of luxury. His death before the events of ''Overwatch'' begin and the resultant power vacuum change the two brothers' lives forever.
833----
834* CharacterNarrator: For ''Dragons'', explaining to the audience (and likely a young Genji and Hanzo) the legend of the two dragon brothers.
835* DeceasedParentsAreTheBest: Genji and Hanzo both have fond memories of him, and wonder what he would think if he could see them now.
836* KilledOffForReal: By the time Overwatch begins, he is already dead. ''Overwatch 2'' reveals that he did not pass on peacefully - he was assassinated. By whom remains unknown, but it's heavily implied through interactions between Cassidy and Soldier: 76, as well as Ana and Hanzo, that [[spoiler: Blackwatch were the ones who killed him]].

845----
846* AssistCharacter: Mei's Ultimate ''Blizzard'' has him being thrown into the air to project the freezing ice, which is his only function as a gameplay element.
847* BadassAdorable: A cute little robot drone that's also a hero and a weapon when needed.
848* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler:In ''Rise and Shine'', he diverts his own power to provide the Ecopoint electricity, leaving him effectively dead... [[SubvertedTrope except he survives]].]]
849* NaughtyIsGood: Though a good-natured little robot, he does have a bit of a mischievous streak. Displayed in Mei's special highlight ''Ice Scream'', where he scares Mei into freezing herself in ice for fun. He also shows this in ''Rise and Shine'', where Mei has to use her hair-dryer to push him away when he gets too close.
850* PintsizedPowerhouse: Apparently, he has enough battery energy to power an entire laboratory.
851* RobotBuddy: Created by Mei, he acts as her assistant and traveling companion across the world.

861\
862A member of the robotics manufacturer Hyde Global. Based in Sydney, he attempted to raise HG's revenue by hiring the criminal duo Junkrat and Roadhog to destroy an HG factory, so that they could get an insurance payout, while they would be the fall guys. [[PayEvilUntoEvil When they caught on to it]], [[TheresNoKillLikeOverkill he found it may not have been the best idea]].
863----
864* AmbiguousSituation: The guy is clearly no pillar of integrity, so when he tells Junkrat and Roadhog that [[MegaCorp corporations]] in the world ''have'' to behave in a [[CorruptCorporateExecutive ruthless manner]] or else they risk becoming prey for less scrupulous competition, it's unclear if he's actually being honest or if he's just feeding them a line to help get them on his side. If what he says is true, it's worth noting that [[CorporateSponsoredSuperhero D.Va's]] decals and the Blizzard World map reveal that [[SelfDeprecation Blizzard themselves]] canonically exist in this world.
865* AssholeVictim: It's telling when a pair like [[VillainProtagonist Junkrat and Roadhog]] are ALighterShadeOfBlack compared to him. Seeing him get blown up for his deeds was thoroughly satisfying.
866* BlatantLies: His above quote, given that he's a CorruptCorporateExecutive who tried an insurance fraud and attempted to get Junkrat and Roadhog arrested in a set up.
867* CorruptCorporateExecutive: Attempts to increase revenue for his company through an insurance fraud, tricking Junkrat and Roadhog in killing cop bots which he claimed were "Omnic terrorists", and nearly got them arrested for it. Let's just say, he messed with the wrong duo.
868* EvilOldFolks: An elderly CorruptCorporateExecutive.
869* InsuranceFraud: The Suit hires Roadhog and Junkrat on the premise of saving his workers from Omnic terroists in one of his warehouse buildings. The "Omincs" were his own security drones and the Junkers destroyed them and the entire building, as the Suit expected. He would have the Junkers arrested and use the insurance money to fix his company's cash flow problem.
870* NoNameGiven: He's only known as "The Suit". Because he died in the same comic he was introduced, and is an extremely minor character with no impact on the plot, it's doubtful we'll ever find out his real name.
871* TheresNoKillLikeOverkill: He was strung by a crane, then blown to Hell along with the HG Sydney building, which then came towering down afterwards.

879
880A man who specialized in robotics engineering. He is the former colleague of Torbjörn, though due to clashing beliefs and approach to their field of profession, their partnership was not without problems.
881----
882* AgonyOfTheFeet: Torbjörn shoots a rivet through Sven's foot to incapacitate him.
883* BigGuyLittleGuy: He's the Big Guy to Torbjörn's Little Guy, though in a variation of this trope, the latter is stocky while Sven is skinny. They used to work together in creating the machines that would later become the Omnics, and have since drifted apart.
884* BeardOfEvil: Has a handlebar mustache and a pointy goatee. The only thing preventing him from becoming a DastardlyWhiplash is [[TheNeedsOfTheMany his belief in achieving the greater good]] [[WellIntentionedExtremist through targeted devastation]].
885* BlueIsHeroic: Subverted. Despite wearing blue (in contrast to Torbjörn's red), he's the main villain of the comic short "Destroyer", using a giant Omnic to destroy a state's capital to prevent (in his mind) [[LensmanArmsRace an even greater evil]].
886* {{Foil}}: Both Sven and Torbjörn are talented robot technicians, but the similarities stop there. Torbjörn [[RedIsHeroic wears red]] and is a grumpy old man who [[FantasticRacism hates Omnics]], but his heart is ultimately in the right place. Sven, meanwhile, subverts the BlueIsHeroic trope by using an Omnic to devastate a state's capital costing hundreds of innocent lives, and while he believes he's doing the right thing, his actions promote the opposite and ultimately, if Torbjörn is to be believed, his true motives are fueled by greed.
887* IDidWhatIHadToDo: He presents his motives in this light. [[ShutUpHannibal Torbjörn's response is to disarm and shoot his old colleague in the foot, before giving him a well-deserved punch to the face]], while simultaneously giving him a TheReasonYouSuckSpeech.
888* LeanAndMean: He's skinnier than his former partner Torbjörn, and he's morally dubious and (according to Torbjörn) a cash-hungry sleazebag.
889* MeaningfulName: Sven means "young man/warrior" in Old Norse, though it's also an IronicName since he's as old as Torbjörn.
890* OnlyInItForTheMoney: Although he paints himself as a WellIntentionedExtremist, Torbjörn believes Sven was destroying the capital city of Kurjikstan because he was paid to do it. There was also the fact that, back when Sven and Torbjörn were partners, Sven would often cheat by cutting corners in his work.
891* OnlyOneName: His last name is unknown.
892* WellIntentionedExtremist: He piloted a [[HumongousMecha titanic Omnic]] and used it to try and raze the capital of Kurjikstan to the ground because he sees Kurjikstan as a militaristic dictatorship whose arms race will result in nuclear armageddon if it isn't stopped, and wants to set an example while demonstrating the power of his own weapon. While it will cost many, many lives, he believes that the plan will save even more in the long run by bringing MutuallyAssuredDestruction to a new level.

903* HappilyMarried: According to what Soldier: 76 tells Ana in "Bastet".
904* TheOneThatGotAway: Despite claiming otherwise, it's clear that Jack still misses Vincent a lot. He keeps an old photo of the two of them on him; and all he wanted after fighting in the war was to return to a domestic life with Vincent.

916The CEO of Volskaya Industries who becomes a target of assassination for Talon, who sends out Reaper, Widowmaker, and Sombra to eliminate her.
917----
918* AmbiguousSituation: It's not clear if Katya's deals with the Omnics behind her country's back is an example of a CorruptCorporateExecutive who is just playing both sides in order to gain money and influence, or if she is actually a far more benevolent figure who lacks her countrymen's complete hatred of the Omnics and is willing to build bridges for future peace.
919* {{Blackmail}}: On the receiving one from Sombra. She's spared, but only if she uses her technology to help Sombra in the future.
920* CloseCallHaircut: While being escorted away when the alarm was tripped, Widowmaker still tries to make the shot. She misses and only manages to destroy Volskaya's right earring.
921* DarkSecret: She is secretly receiving technology from Omnics in order to build the weapons used in the Second Omnic Crisis. Sombra threatens to reveal it to the public, which could ruin her company and reputation in Russia.
922* TheStoic: How she kept a cold, steady front when Sombra is "negotiating" with her is notable.

933----
934* TheBlacksmith: She and Toshiro worked the Yamagami Blades smithy to develop swords. It ended up closing shop some time following Toshiro's abduction.
935* DopeSlap: Kirkiko's origins video shows Asa smacking a young Genji over the head with a kendo sword for underperforming in his sword training.
936* IHaveYourWife: Her husband, Toshiro, was abducted by the Hashimoto clan, not only forcing him to make weapons just for them, but using him as leverage to get her to do their bidding in keeping Kanezaka quiet for them.
937* MuggleBornOfMages: Unlike her mother, Asa has no connection to the fox spirit and believes it all to be superstition, until she sees Kiriko's powers firsthand.
938* RetiredBadass: She used to be a ninja and master of the blade, enough to have been chosen to train Hanzo and Genji in their youth. She's still around the Hashimoto's involuntary enforcer, but she considers it well past her time for major action.

947----
948* ActionSurvivor: Is a cvilian with no military training, yet she managed to use the underground tunnel system to avoid Null Sector's troops and tried to smuggle several other omnics out with her.
949* FieryRedhead: The cables on her head that emulate hair are red. While she starts the story scared out of her wits, she soon becomes increasingly angry at what Nul Sector is doing to her fellow Omnics, to the point she expresses the desire to fight them herself. She also isn't shy about chewing out Reggie about his SkewedPriorities.
950* IKnowMortalKombat: Defied. During the last stretch of the ''Liberation'' mission, Claire or Reggie will ask for weapons, so they can defend themselves. When the healer of the team asks whether they know how to handle a gun, Claire can respond that she's played a lot of shooters and ask if that counts. The healer will then emphatically tell their teammates not to give either Claire or Reggie a gun.
951* TheLoad: Overwatch has to escort her and Reggie out of the city while simultaneously protecting them from the Subjugators. Downplayed with Claire, as her hacking skills and knowledge of the tunnel system means she does pulls her weight in her own way.
