!!Dreamland Royal Family

[[folder:In General]]
* AmicableExes: [[spoiler:Zøg and Oona get divorced early in Season 2. While [[AwfulWeddedLife their married life wasn't the best]], they both care about their son and they part ways on good terms. If anything, their relationship has greatly ''improved'' since they are no longer married. By the final season Oona is happy for Zøg's new relationship with Ursula and gives her advice and comfort.]]
* AwfulWeddedLife: Due to the political nature of their union, Zøg and Oona are shown to be very miserable together. It speaks something about their relationship, when their first scene together shows Oona getting FantasticArousal upon seeing Bean's handsome fiance, and Zøg lamenting that she never does that for him. One episode shows that they sleep separately, with him on his bed and her clinging to the ceiling, though Oona admits she does have sex with him sometimes and on one occasion they do sleep together. Zøg himself isn't particularly fond of Oona, as he greatly prefers his old wife Dagmar to her. [[spoiler:However, Oona does get ''very'' jealous after Dagmar returns and reunites with Zøg.]]
* DysfunctionalFamily: The royal dynasty of Dreamland is definitely one big unhappy family, enough to put WesternAnimation/TheSimpsons to shame.
** Bean and Zøg both seemed pretty happy way back when their beloved mother/wife Dagmar was still alive; but after her death, Bean's relationship with her father crumbled. Zøg proved to be a very bossy and authoritarian parent, constantly trying to control Bean's life as much as he could, [[ParentalIssues much to her angst]]. Now, Bean is a {{rebellious|Princess}} {{delinquent}} who does everything she can to piss off her dad, whether it's justified or not.
** Zøg's marriage to his second wife Oona [[AwfulWeddedLife looks very miserable as well]]. In the first place, [[ArrangedMarriage they got married for political reasons]], rather than out of any genuine love. At best they just tolerate each other, but it's obvious that they care very little about each other's company. Bean also dislikes her stepmother, seeing Oona as a poor replacement for her real mother. And Bean also doesn't get along very well with her half-brother Derek either.
** [[spoiler:When Dagmar comes BackFromTheDead, it soon turns out that Zøg and Bean's romanticized, nostalgic memories of her have made them blind to the truth. Dagmar turns out to be one hell of a BitchInSheepsClothing, who may not have ever even actually loved her husband, as she [[TilMurderDoUsPart betrays and tries to kill him]] ''twice'' (once before [[TakenForGranite she was turned into a statue]], and once again after she's revived). She does seem to really care about Bean, but she's also manipulating her as part of a secret evil plan.]]
* HereditaryCurse: There's been one going back in Zøg's line for a few generations, [[spoiler:apparently as a result of their seizing Dreamland from the elves. It expires with Zøg, meaning Derek and Bean are safe.]]
* SecretKeeper: [[spoiler:Every king has known the dark truth of Dreamland's origins, including Zøg, who was sworn to secrecy on pain of death, but never got why there was anything unusual about this.]]
* ThemeNaming: Every man in the family line has been named "-og", starting with Agog.

!!!'''King Zøg Grunkwitz of Dreamland'''
[[quoteright:310:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/zog.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by''': Creator/JohnDiMaggio (English), Juan Alfonso Carralero (Latin American Spanish), Domenec Farrel (European Spanish), Tsuyoshi Kurosawa (Japanese)

The reigning monarch of Dreamland, and the father of Bean and Derek. He rules his kingdom with an iron fist, and prefers to dole out harsh punishments against criminals. He is also constantly at odds with his daughter Bean.
----
* AbusiveDad:
** While Zøg never lays a hand on Bean, the way he treats her could be considered a form of emotional abuse. He rarely ever considers her feelings, and it takes a long time before he even calls off the ArrangedMarriage he's trying to force her into.
** Once when Zøg was dozing off in the chapel, Oona lightly hits him awake. Zøg reacts by giving Derek a slap for no reason.
** Neither Bean nor Derek appear to be allowed to have any friends, and it is implied by Bean that Zøg uses murder to keep it this way. Bean only has a limited social life because she sneaks out of the castle constantly. Derek mostly seems to be confined to his room. The only reason he tolerates Elfo and Luci is because he thinks of them as "pets".
* ActorAllusion: In "Stairway to Hell", Zøg shouts "BITE MY SHINY METAL AXE!"; and in "In Her Own Write", he complains "Let's go alreadyyyy!". Both of these quotes allude to catchphrases of [[{{WesternAnimation/Futurama}} Bender]], who is also voiced by Creator/JohnDiMaggio.
* AdiposeRex: King Zøg is an overweight monarch, [[FormerlyFit having let himself go]] after Dagmar's petrification.
* AmazonChaser: The only woman who interests him after Oona leaves is a bear selkie who can wrestle him after taking down wild animals.
* AntiVillain: While Zøg is a terrible king responsible for countless unnecessary deaths of his own subjects, he's clearly very miserable with his overall life. The reason why he wants to obtain the ElixirOfLife [[spoiler:is not out of a desire to become immortal like everyone thought, but because he just really wants to resurrect his dearly missed wife Dagmar back from death so badly]].
* AwLookTheyReallyDoLoveEachOther: It is shown that Zøg really does care for Bean.
* BadBoss: Zøg treats most of his royal court employees like shit, and is hardly any better with his kingdom's subjects. He even makes a habit out of dropping the Jester through a trapdoor to the ocean. Once when Zøg became violently ill and went on a trip to a spa, ''everyone'' else in the castle was relieved by his temporary absence.
* BerserkButton: Any man who attempts to have sex with Bean before she gets married [[BoyfriendBlockingDad is literally going to pay for it with their life]].
* BoyfriendBlockingDad: He will execute any man that Bean tries to sleep with, and every guy who's made aware of this is too scared to even dare attempt a one-night-stand with her. [[spoiler:However, when Bean starts a genuine relationship with Mora, Zøg is completely supportive.]]
* TheCaligula: Zøg is a brutal and ruthless tyrant of a king, who has a tendency to punish or kill anyone who annoys him in any way. Even [[AccidentalPervert looking at his naked daughter]] is a [[FelonyMisdemeanor crime punishable via]] [[OffWithHisHead death by beheading]]. Also once when Zøg fell sick from an illness, he admits to [[NoodleIncident having ordered the executions of every doctor in the kingdom]].
* {{Catchphrase}}: "What, you tryin' to make a jerk outta me or something?"
* CharacterTic:
** He has a tendency to describe his actions as he performs them. In "Castle Party Massacre", he justifies it as the effect of having a stroke.
** Throwing sceptres when he's pissed off, apparently to relax. He does it so much that a bar in Dreamland is named the Flying Sceptre, though this drops off after season 1.
** In Season 3, he starts making honking and fake echoing sounds [[spoiler:due to his SanitySlippage after being BuriedAlive]].
* DelayedReaction: A recurring joke with him is to casually notice something disturbing, then repeat it.
-->'''Zøg:''' Oh, that's just mom's head. ''MOM'S HEAD?!''
* DentedIron: Once, he was an impressive fighter. Years of bad eating, smoking and general old age afflictions mean he's not quite as capable.
* DidntThinkThisThrough: FakingTheDead to avoid assassination? Good idea. Sneaking out of the castle in a coffin? An okay one. Having [[spoiler:Penderghast nail him inside the coffin]]? It has exactly the pitfall you'd expect: [[spoiler:Zøg ends up BuriedAlive inside the coffin since he's unable to break himself out.]]
* TheDitherer: "This calls for action! I ''hate'' action!"
* TheDreaded: Almost everyone in Dreamland (except for his family and a few others) are afraid of King Zøg; and for good reason, because of his volcanic temper and disregard for most people's lives.
* EvenBadMenLoveTheirMamas: Zøg is horrified when he finds out that Bean mutilated his dead mother's skull while plundering the royal tomb. He even tells the skull that he won't let Bean get away with it.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Zøg does have a soft spot for his family, and loves Bean no matter how much she pisses him off. [[spoiler:At least part of Zøg's behavior, particularly his dangerous obsession with getting the ElixirOfLife, is due to [[LoveMakesYouEvil his desire to bring back his beloved Dagmar]].]]
* EvenEvilHasStandards: He's appalled when he finds out Bean was ransacking riches from their family's royal crypt, even jewelry from the corpse of Bean's sweet old grandmother.
* ExplainExplainOhCrap: Zog will often narrate aloud as he examines something, up until the point where he discovers something horribly wrong, at which point he will simply begin yelling.
* FamilyThemeNaming: All of his older male relatives have names that ends with either "-øg" or "-øgg", proceeding down the alphabet as time progressed, starting with Dreamland's first king, Agøgg, all the way to his older brother King Yøg. Zøg is the last of this trend due to no letter coming after Z, hence why his son is named "Derek".
* FanDisservice: We get to see his fat, {{naked|PeopleAreFunny}} body a few times.
* FatBastard: He's both an AdiposeRex, and a major-league {{Jerkass}} (though not without [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold a Heart of Gold]]).
* FieryRedhead: Has red hair and gets angry fairly easily.
* FormerlyFit: Flashbacks show that in his youth, he was quite a strong and muscular WarriorPrince. He got fat due to [[HeartbreakAndIceCream comfort eating after Dagmar's death]].
* FreudianExcuse: His dad, King Xøg, preferred Yøg (as did everyone else) openly, and considered Zøg nothing but a disgrace.
* GoMadFromTheIsolation: [[spoiler:Being BuriedAlive in a coffin for several days]] causes a SanitySlippage in Season 3.
* HairTriggerTemper: It doesn't take too much to get under Zøg's skin, and make him start yelling and ranting in fury.
* HangingJudge: As an absolute monarch, Zøg has the authority to sentence criminals to be imprisoned, tortured, or executed after giving them a [[KangarooCourt short trial in the royal court]]. And he does exactly that.
* HasAType: He certainly has a tendency to hook up with non-humans, even if sometimes by accident.
-->'''Bean:''' A witch, a lizard, and now a bear? God, are you building an ark?
* HeavyMetalUmlaut: The slash through the O in his name is just there to look interesting and doesn't represent any change in pronunciation whatsoever.
* HiddenDepths:
** The end of Season 1 reveals that he genuinely loved his first wife, never wanted the throne (but was forced to take it after his brother died), knows he's a screw-up who isn't fit to be king, and was actually one of the best warriors of his generation before he got fat and out of shape. Season 3 expands on this, making it clear that his history as a highly-skilled warrior earned him the genuine respect of older guards like Pendergast.
** In Season 2, he has a serious but gentle conversation with Derek about how justice isn't as cut and dry as it is in story books, that someone is always going to feel like they got the short end of the stick, and that the best you can do is to just try to make the right decisions in the moment.
** A flashback in season 4 reveals he used to actually be a pretty good singer... until he smoked one cigar.
** Even though his own love life is (as he admits) a bit of a mess, in Season 4, when Bean accidentally confesses that she's [[spoiler:in love with a mermaid]], he's understanding and gives her actually useful advice, warning her about the difficulties of cross-cultural romance while advising her to go for it regardless to avoid regrets in the future.
* HistoricalHeroUpgrade: The statue of him sitting in the center of Dreamland was made by the Dreamlanders after they saw Zøg with a mermaid and figured he killed her. Actually, Zøg had crushed on her, only to back out because of a fear of drowning and bubbles. He feels ashamed about it.
* IHaveNoIdeaWhatImDoing: He admits that he tried everything to deal with Bean, and thinks it's because she hasn't been the same since Dagmar died.
* ImmortalitySeeker: The one reason he keeps Elfo around is because he desperately wants the Elixer of Life, which everyone assumes is for himself. [[spoiler:He reveals in "To Thine Own Elf Be True" that he actually wants it to resurrect his dead wife.]]
* ImpoverishedPatrician: He's actually quite poor for a king, and his castle isn't even made of actual stone. The primary reason for him wanting to marry off Bean was to secure an alliance with the wealthier kingdom of Bentwood.
* InterspeciesRomance: He married Oona, who is a [[LizardFolk Dankmirian]]. Though their marriage was much more of a [[AltarDiplomacy political arrangement]] rather than a love affair. In Season Two, he falls for a [[OurWerebeastsAreDifferent werebear woman]]. And in a conversation with Bean about this trope, he mentions that his first love was a mermaid.
* IResembleThatRemark: When Bean calls Zøg selfish and cruel, he's initially outraged, until he admits that ''maybe'' she's right.
* IWasQuiteTheLooker: He was much less fat when Bean was a baby. Losing his first wife caused him to turn to comfort eating.
* JadedWashout: Used to be a strong warrior when he was younger and complains about now being old and fat.
* {{Jerkass}}: Zøg isn't a very pleasant man. He's a selfish and cruel tyrant who kills people for the slightest offenses, is a very controlling parent who doesn't ever consider Bean's feelings, and overall has a lot of anger issues, and has very little concern for tact or politeness.
* JerkassHasAPoint: A common joke with Zøg is for him to make a perfectly reasonable criticism of Bean's drinking problem or general irresponsibility, and then immediately follow it up with a comment that reveals that [[HypocriticalHumor he's a hypocrite on the matter]], that the behavior he'd prefer to see from Bean is [[DeliberateValuesDissonance something that might have been reasonable in the Middle Ages but definitely isn't now]], or just that [[RightForTheWrongReasons he objects to her behavior for his own peculiar reasons]].
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Despite all of his serious personality flaws, he still loves his family. [[spoiler:He also does look [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone very remorseful]] when he sees how badly Elfo's death (which was indirectly his fault) has affected Bean]].
* LazyBum: He describes his favourite part of being king as never having to actually work. Most of what he does all day seems to be eating.
* LikeFatherLikeDaughter: He has a lot of similarities with Bean, ranging from more general things like their hedonistic outlooks, irresponsibility, and fiery tempers to much more specific things like their first real loves being mermaids.
* MurderIsTheBestSolution: Zøg casually hands out [[OffWithHisHead death sentences]] for anyone who crosses him, [[DisproportionateRetribution for the slightest of offenses]], such as [[AccidentalPervert seeing his topless daughter]] after she takes off her shirt in public.
* NamedAfterSomebodyFamous: Meta-example; he apparently shares his name with the real-life [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zog_I_of_Albania King Zog of Albania]].
* {{Narcissist}}: He has some traits of this. For one, he ordered the cook to replace the decorations on Bean's wedding cake with two of ''him''. And once when it seemed that Zøg would publicly award Bean, he just gives ''himself'' a medal for his parenting skills. Also, Zøg's face and name are used for the coin currency of Dreamland, and the soldiers serving under him are called the Knights of the Zøg Table.
* NarratingTheObvious: A running thing is him describing his actions as he does them. Gets a LampshadeHanging in "Castle Party Massacre", when Bean points this out, and he says it's because he had a stroke.
* ParentalFavoritism: While not as noticeable, he seems to prefer Bean over Derek continuously.
* ParentalIssues: Zøg has a conflict with his daughter Bean for various reasons, one of them being that he's trying to put her through a {{political marriage}} against her wishes. Bean openly admits that her handmaiden has been more of a parent than he ever was.
* PetTheDog:
** Zog is a pretty huge jerk, but he eventually agrees with Bean and decides not to go through with her arranged marriage to Prince Merkimer after the latter is turned into a pig.
** In part 4, he starts getting more and more of these with Bean, as their relationship gets better.
* PuppetKing: [[spoiler:A conspiracy plotted to kill his brother Yøg and put Zøg on the throne. By the time of the present day, they've started getting tired of Zøg and plot to replace him with the far more easily controlled Derek.]]
* RetiredBadass: As a younger man, Zøg was a fearsome WarriorPrince and a great athlete to boot. Although [[FormerlyFit he's gotten really out of shape]] over the years, he hasn't forgotten all of his old skills. As various threats start coming his way, he is forced to step up and fight back. Unusually for the trope, all his old skills don't ''immediately'' come back, and his own self-doubt has an impact on his fighting spirit.
* SanitySlippage: [[spoiler:Throughout Season 3, his mental health slips. Ever since being BuriedAlive, he loses his grip on reality, and started honking and making similar sounds, often repeating them like a fake echo. Then Odval arranges it so his sanity breaks completely, by tricking him into seeing Bean and Oona naked.]]
* SanityStrengthening: [[spoiler:His time in Twinkletown seems to fix his sanity completely.]]
* ShootTheMessenger: Not above doing this in a bad mood. Odval and the Arch-Druidess even exploit it at one point, having a messenger deliver the message so he'll take it out on the poor sap, then deliver the message anyhow.
* SpareToTheThrone: He was never meant to be the King of Dreamland. His older brother Prince Yøg was the heir to the throne until he was mysteriously poisoned. This may explain why Zøg is so bad at ruling the kingdom; even he admits that he was never meant to be a ruler, and being a fighter is all he knows. In fact, the one objectively positive accomplishment that Zøg had as King up to now is that he defeated Dankmire ''in a war'', forcing them to construct a canal.
* StrawMisogynist: Zøg has a very traditionalist, conservative attitude regarding Bean's place as a proper noblewoman. Unlike the more contemptuously misogynistic Odval, though, he's less firmly committed to it and seems to be more driven by ignorance than malice; as he admits, having Bean be a princess and a nun are "the only girl things" he knows about, and he's usually willing to let her have her way if she pushes him enough.
* TookALevelInKindness: Sort of in Season 2; he still isn't by any means a nice guy or a good king, but he is now a more of an angsty and depressed manchild rather than a hotheaded and malicious bastard most of the time, and his bond with his daughter has grown stronger than ever before.
* UglyGuyHotWife: Zøg is fat and not much of a looker, but Oona is much slimmer and attractive. The same with Dagmar, his first wife.
* TheUnfavorite: His father openly preferred Yøg, describing him as "already perfect". Zøg, meanwhile, was just seen as a screw-up and embarrassment.
* VillainProtagonist: Zøg is by no means a good king, but he's still one of the main characters, at least when he's not being antagonistic to his daughter.
* VocalDissonance: He's a king but is voiced by Creator/JohnDiMaggio in a voice similar to [[WesternAnimation/{{Futurama}} Bender]] (or Mr. Panucci, or Sal), which sounds very working-class and thus not expected for a monarch.
* WarriorPrince: Before Zøg became King of Dreamland, he was a formidable warlord and one of the best soldiers to serve his country.

[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/derek_5.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by''': Creator/TressMacNeille

The 14-year-old son of King Zøg and Queen Oona, younger half-brother of Bean, and heir apparent to the throne of Dreamland.
----
* AChildShallLeadThem: [[spoiler:Becomes the King of Dreamland in Season 2 due to Bean accidentally shooting Zøg, leaving him bedridden. However, Odval is clearly manipulating the kid to control the kingdom himself.]]
* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: He inherited his mother's pale blue skin color.
* AnnoyingYoungerSibling: Downplayed. Derek doesn't interact much with Bean, though she admits to resenting him for being the heir to the throne.
* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: Develops a PrecociousCrush on [[spoiler:Sagatha, the old hooker fairy]] because she was genuinely kind to him and helped him be less of a naive pushover.
* BetterAsFriends: After their wedding goes awry, Derek and [[spoiler:Sagatha]] agree that it'd be better if he [[spoiler:thought of her as his "slutty grandma"]].
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Derek's usually nice and cheerfully oblivious to everything around him, but in Part 4 he admits he has actually wanted to beat Elfo up same as everyone else. He just lacked the necessary upper body strength.
* BigOlUnibrow: Pretty clearly a Type II, and only visible when he pushes his bangs back.
* CharacterDevelopment: Becomes less of a naive pushover in Season 3 thanks to coaching from the hooker fairies.
* ChildrenAreInnocent: If anything, he seems rather naive and oblivious to most of his DysfunctionalFamily's shenanigans. [[spoiler:In "Dreamland Falls", Zøg locks up Derek in the tower to protect him from even realizing that his parents hate each other so much that they're seriously considering whether or not to kill each other.]]
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: Well, he still plays with action figures while acting out his imagination.
* TheDitz: There's not a lot going on in his head, to say the least.
* FasterThanTheyLook: Commented on by Odval, who compares Derek's physique to a beach ball.
* HalfHumanHybrid: Due to his father Zøg being a human, while his mother Oona is a Dankmirian.
* HalfSiblingAngst: Derek feels very depressed over how his half-sister Bean ignores or disdains him most of the time.
* HeirClubForMen: As the only son of King Zøg, Derek is the future heir to the throne of Dreamland. Bean's resentment for him comes from how he was allowed to do everything she wanted to do because he was the male heir.
* HidingBehindYourBangs: His long hair usually covers over his right eye. It probably indicates how shy and introverted he is.
* KiddieKid: He's 14 years old, but acts about half his age. He even still sleeps with a teddy bear. The implication is that he's been coddled and insulated most of his life.
* LiteralMinded: When Zøg asks him to "butter up" the Dankmire court, he tries to give a speech about buttering toast, only to get completely side-tracked by that, too.
* LonelyRichKid: Even more so than his sister. Derek doesn't seem to have any friends, let alone interacts with anyone his age.
* TheQuietOne: He's even more quiet than his mom. It takes several episodes before he even starts saying anything.
* MarryForLove: Almost marries [[spoiler:Sagatha, the old hooker fairy]] out of genuine affection because she was so nice to him.
* MayDecemberRomance: Enters a romantic relationship with [[spoiler:Sagatha, the old hooker fairy]] because she was so nice to him. [[spoiler:They soon decide they're BetterAsFriends.]]
* OddNameOut: Among male Dreamland royals, Derek is the only known one without a name ending either with "-øg" or "-øgg". This is justified due to these names proceeding down the alphabet starting with the first king, Agøgg, and ending with Zøg due to Z being the last letter.
* PermaStubble: Develops it during season 3, though it never seems to grow out any further.
* PrecociousCrush: Develops a crush on [[spoiler:Sagatha, the old hooker fairy]] because she was so nice to him.
* PuppetKing: [[spoiler:What Odval and the Arch-Druidess try to make him. It mostly works, until Derek realizes that as absolute monarch, he can make the rules he wants.]]
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: [[spoiler:While being propped up as puppet king, he actually tries to be a reasonable judge during Bean's trial, and is about to acquit her. [[NotWhatItLooksLike Then he walks in on Bean digging a knife into Zøg's chest.]]]]
* ReducedToRatburgers: After everyone else in Dreamland got turned to stone, he was left locked up in the tallest tower, where he spent the time catching birds from his window.
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: Decides to ditch Dreamland after saying that both Bean and Zøg are too "emotionally draining" on him and joins Oona's pirate crew.
* SomethingWeForgot: Becomes the "something" at the beginning of Part 2. It's only after several days on his own that Zøg recalls he left Derek locked up somewhere.
%%* SpoiledSweet: Derek is undeniably pampered and naive about the world around him, but he seems like a rather nice and sweet kid; and he's easily the kindest person among his BigScrewedUpFamily.
* StepfordSmiler: The run-in with the Dankmirian hicks leaves him with nightmares about their giant skillet, but whenever he brings this up it's in the same cheerful, innocent tone he says everything else in.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: He has blue skin and dark hair like his mother, and is overweight like his father.
* ThereAreNoTherapists: Nearly getting cooked and eaten by a pair of hillbillies in a giant skillet leaves him with night terrors and a permanent fear of skillets, but no-one seems to care, at most reacting with annoyance that he keeps bringing it up.
* TheUglyGuysHotDaughter: {{Gender|Inverted}}-{{Inverted|Trope}}; he looks mostly like his ugly dad, and has none of his pretty mom's good looks.
* TookALevelInJerkass: Becomes much surlier and unpleasant to everyone in Part 4.
* UpperClassTwit: He's a sheltered, spoiled rich kid who's grossly ignorant of how royal court politics work (see what happens when his dad asks him to improvise a speech during a state dinner in Dankmire), which makes it doubtful that he's anywhere near prepared for his role as the future king of Dreamland.
* WhosLaughingNow: Abuses his power as judge over Bean's trial to get back at her for 14 years of being a BigSisterBully. [[spoiler:That said, he tries to be a ReasonableAuthorityFigure and is about to aquit her because he doesn't think she's guilty.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Jasper]]
Zøg's third kid, with Ursula the forest selkie. Zøg discovers his existence in Part 4, and takes him in after Ursula's apparent demise.
----
* HalfHumanHybrid: Half human, half forest selkie (bear).
* InSeriesNickname: Everyone constantly calls him Bear Boy rather than his actual name Jasper.
* ParentalSexualitySquick: Is grossed out by the notion of his parents doing it.
* SiblingRivalry: Initially had a massive one with Derek, but they grow to like each other.
* SoapOperaRapidAgingSyndrome: While the passage of time is not something ''Disenchantment'' has ever been big on paying attention to, Jasper can be no more than a year old, yet looks, sounds and acts much older than he is by human standards. Of course, he is half forest selkie, who are essentially bears, and bears mature faster than humans.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: He's essentially a young Zøg if Zøg were a bear. It's how Zøg even realizes Jasper's his son.
* SweetTooth: Starts hogging all the honey in Dreamland once he moves in.

The prime minister of Dreamland, and King Zøg's most trusted adviser.
----
* AintTooProudToBeg: Literally, once it becomes clear Zøg can't rule, Derek isn't around and the only way to get anything done is through Bean translating Zøg, she demands Odval and the others crawl and beg for her help. Odval does so.
* AmbiguouslyBrown: His skin is a bit darker than other named human characters living in Dreamland.
* AmbiguouslyHuman: He has PointyEars and a ThirdEye hidden under his hat (and possibly a fourth, according to one line of dialogue). This has yet to be explained.[[note]]In "[[Recap/DisenchantmentS1E5FasterPrincessKillKill Faster, Princess! Kill! Kill!]]", one of the skulls in Literature/HanselAndGretel's butchering room had three eyes like Odval. That implies he is part of a race with more than two eyes.[[/note]]
* AnArmAndALeg: King Zøg accidentally breaks off one of his arms while he's petrified, though it's somehow reattached later on.
* BelievingTheirOwnLies: When Bean accidentally shoots her father trying to disprove her kingdom's insane beliefs, Odval jumps at the opportunity to have her convicted, either escalating real events or flat-out lying. After she turns out to be alive after they attempt to kill her, he begins to suspect that she might actually be the witch he accused her of being.
* TheComicallySerious: He's a dour, serious man who doesn't like all the craziness around him.
* DeadpanSnarker: He tends to make dry remarks.
* DirtyOldMan: He and Sorcerio hold weird sex orgies down in the castle basement when Zøg's away.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: As sexist, greedy, and power-hungry as he is, even Odval is appalled by [[spoiler:the Arch-druidess's AxCrazy tendencies in Season 3.]]
* EvilChancellor: [[spoiler:When Zøg is critically injured in a freak accident, he wastes no time in trying to install Derek as a PuppetKing that he can rule from the shadows, while trying to kill Bean and her friends on the side to tie up loose ends. It's implied he's been waiting a ''while'' to do this and was simply [[LetNoCrisisGoToWaste looking for the right opportunity]].]]
* FaceHeelTurn: [[spoiler:In "Teabeanie Falls" Odval manipulates Bean's accidental shooting of her father to place the manipulable Derek on the throne, and has her declared a witch and sentenced to burn at the stake.]]
* HairTodayGoneTomorrow: Flashbacks in "To Thine Own Elf Be True" show he had hair when Bean was younger.
* HoistByTheirOwnPetard: [[spoiler:He plotted to drive Zøg completely insane, which is what results in Bean being made queen, one of the things he'd hoped to avoid, mainly because Bean's far smarter and harder to control than Zøg.]]
* {{Hypocrite}}: While sexism is rampant in Dreamland, Odval is probably the most staunchly (or at least ''effectively'') misogynistic, repeatedly blocking Bean's access to any mechanism of governance.[[note]]While Bean pretty much just ignores Pendergast's casual chauvenism, the only time she's been able to overrule Odval and gain access to the Council is when ''the entire Council had been turned to stone''.[[/note]] And yet it doesn't stop him [[spoiler:from conspiring with the Arch-Druidess to seize control of the kingdom after Zøg is incapacitated]].
* LetNoCrisisGoToWaste: [[spoiler: After Zøg is critically injured when the gun Bean brought back from Steamland accidentally goes off, he wastes no time in trying to usurp power for himself]].
* ManipulativeBastard: [[spoiler:Turns out he's not so loyal to the Crown after all, conspiring with the head of the church to have himself made Derek's guardian if Zøg should ever be incapacitated... and then manipulating events as well as people en masse when that very thing happens to have him set up as the ManBehindTheMan, ruling Dreamland through Derek.]]
* NotSoAboveItAll:
** After Zøg leaves the castle for the health spa, Odval tries to give a solemn speech, only to start cracking up toward the end.
** See DirtyOldMan. Afterwards, Odval helps Bean clean up the Land Viking mess to help ensure that nobody asks where he and Sorcerio were while the massacre was happening.
** When the subject of testing whether the ElixirOfLife has actually worked on Zøg comes up, he immediately calls "dibs" on stabbing him.
* NumberTwo: He is Zøg's right-hand man.
* ObfuscatingStupidity: He plays at being ignorant of more advanced technology and medicine [[spoiler: found in Steamland]], but it becomes clear that he's choosing to keep the ''people'' ignorant for his own ends. His sexist attitude may also be an act for the sake of keeping Bean out of power.
* OhCrap: Is horrified when [[spoiler:Zøg and Bean are revealed to have survived Odval and the Arch-druidess's murder and execution attempts, respectively, in Season 3.]]
* OnlySaneMan: Not that it's saying much, but Odval does seem like one of the more level-headed members of Zøg's court, and seems to know more about political administration than the king himself. Despite this, Odval isn't without his own eccentricities (like hosting sex orgies with his secret society in the castle basement).
* OutOfFocus: He has far less screen time and relevance in part 4, and despite his previous instances of treachery and multiple coup attempts, he is once again the "loyal" chancellor of the Dreamland Court to Zøg and Bean, with little other characterization.
* RightForTheWrongReasons: While he claims Bean is a witch solely to get rid of her, and his assumptions run on InsaneTrollLogic, he is actually right.
* SecretCircleOfSecrets: Odval is a leader of a mysterious secret society that holds meetings when King Zøg isn't around. Aside from having some weird sex orgies, their highest priority is [[spoiler:conspiring for control of the kingdom.]]
* SleazyPolitician: Odval works for a tyrannical monarch, so this is kind of to be expected. Also, although Odval seems a bit sycophantic to Zøg, he doesn't have much respect for him (when Zøg is absent, Odval freely joins in with others in insulting their king). [[spoiler:And Odval also seems to be a bit of a two-timing opportunist, as he secretly helps Oona with carrying out her plans to warn Dankmire of a possible threat to her life in "Dreamland Falls".]]
* TheStarscream: Odval calls dibs on stabbing Zøg to see if the Elixir of Life worked, clearly hoping that it won't. [[spoiler:In "Tiabeanie Falls", Odval exploits an opportunity for his secret society to covertly seize power after Zøg has been incapacitated by a gunshot wound, by arranging for Derek to be crowned as king (allowing the boy to be directly manipulated by Odval himself). Odval is completely aware that Zøg's injury (caused by Bean) was a tragic accident, but he decides to have her put on trial for attempted murder to get rid of her as well.]]
* StraightGay: He's not overtly homosexual, but he is having romantic and sexual relations with Sorcerio. Nobody bats an eye at this. [[spoiler:In the season 5 finale he and Sorcerio finally get married.]]
* StrawMisogynist: He's a sexist jerk sometimes, especially toward Bean.
-->'''Odval''': Women are not permitted to address the council.\
'''Bean''': You're the only one in here!\
'''Odval''': Then it's unanimous.
* TheStoic: Most of the time, he's rather calm and reserved.
* SugarAndIcePersonality: He has a low opinion of almost everyone, but is very close with Socerio, his friend/lover.
* TakenForGranite: [[spoiler:He gets turned to stone by Queen Dagmar at the end of Season 1.]]
* ThirdEye: He has three eyes, with the third one typically covered up by his hat. Elfo asks him if he rolls all three of his eyes when he's annoyed, and he does. He also implies that he (might) have a fourth one hidden somewhere, that he doesn't want to talk about.
* TookALevelInJerkass: [[spoiler:In the second season, his sexism gets ramped up further, and his jerkassery, until he tries to seize control of Dreamland and have Bean burnt at the stake.]]

!!!'''Sorcerio'''
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sercerio.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by''': Creator/BillyWest

Another one of King Zøg's advisers, a self-styled wizard with mediocre skills at magic.
----
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: He is definitely quite an eccentric old man.
* CourtMage: He can barely do any actual magic, but still fills the role as a magic adviser for King Zøg.
* DirtyOldMan: He has wild, pansexual orgies with Odval, and even invites Elfo to join in. [[spoiler:Subverted when it turns out he's not actually that old.]]
* DitzyGenius: He's far from being a competent wizard, and his experiments often fail, though not for lack of trying. But he's still fairly knowledgeable about magic.
* DudeWheresMyRespect: Feels driven to do the things he does mainly to get the respect he feels his hat deserves.
* DunceCap: What his wizard hat actually is.
* {{Expy}}: He is basically this show's version of Professor Farnsworth from ''{{WesternAnimation/Futurama}}'', and is even voiced by Creator/BillyWest too.
* ExtremeOmnisexual: He is extremely eager to have sex with a gryphon, and it is implied that he actually did so. He also invited Elfo to join the cultist orgy in the castle dungeon, and to bring Luci along.
* IneptMage: By his own admission, Sorcerio isn't even good at using magic, his abilities being mostly limited to card tricks. However once he starts experimenting with Elfo's blood, he does try to improve his magic skills as much as he can. It is later explained in Season 3 that he is the mage equivalent of a college dropout.
* MadDoctor: Aside from his medical research into elf blood, there is also his WorstAid treatments for King Zøg's [[spoiler:bullet wounds]]. He's howling at the moon at this point.
* MadScientist: While he's technically a [[{{Cloudcuckoolander}} Mad]] [[ScienceWizard Sorcerer]] ([[SufficientlyAnalyzedMagic but in this setting what's the difference]]?), he does fit this archetype very well. Sorcerio is conducting highly unethical medical experiments by using Elfo as a guinea-pig in his private laboratory, draining his blood to try and figure out a way to create the ElixirOfLife (and failing that, he also uses the blood to create other magic potions as well).
* MuggleWithADegreeInMagic: Sorcerio studies magic and knows how it works, but he doesn't have any innate magical powers of his own. He can't do anything without elf blood or other magical substances.
* RobeAndWizardHat: Zøg said that Sorcerio glued stars onto his DunceCap.
* ScienceWizard: Although a wizard, Sorcerio is also an advocate of science, as magic is real in this world, and he tries to study it the scientific way.
* SecretCircleOfSecrets: Along with Odval, Sorcerio is a member of a mysterious secret society that holds meetings when King Zøg isn't around. Aside from having some weird sex orgies, their highest priority is [[spoiler:conspiring for control of the kingdom.]]
* SecretMessageWink: He tends to point out his secret messages by winking and loudly saying "wink" (although due to his accent, it ends up sounding more like "whink.") This greatly annoys Odval, who keeps telling him that saying "wink" ruins the secrecy.
* TheSmartGuy: Zig-zagged. Although Sorcerio knows that he's very incompetent at actually using magic, he's still very knowledgeable and passionate about the subject, and tries his best to do research and improve his mediocre skills.
* StraightGay: Or, more properly, Straight ExtremeOmnisexual, but he [[spoiler:ends up married to Odval, who is constantly implied to be his one "serious" long-term relationship]]; and his character archetype is mostly WizardClassic.
* TakenForGranite: As with everyone else in the castle, by Queen Dagmar. Like everyone else, he gets better in Season 2.
* WizardClassic: He's a parody of this character archetype.
* YoungerThanTheyLook: Claims he's actually only ''thirty-one''.

[[folder:The Arch-Druidess]]
!!!'''The Arch-Druidess'''
->'''Voiced by''': Creator/TressMacNeille

The leader of Dreamland's ill-defined state religion.
----
* TheAllegedExpert: Played for laughs as she openly finds her own religion confusing when she doesn't talk crap about it herself. [[spoiler: In Season 3, it's revealed she'd been playing this straight the whole time, as she's not even from Dreamland.]]
* ArbitrarySkepticism: To a degree that one wouldn't expect from a religious leader; she's not even very faithful for the religion she preaches, even openly doubting the existence of {{God}} in her sermons.[[spoiler: Season 3 reveals that she's actually a spy from [[FlatEarthAtheist Steamland]]]].
* AscendedExtra: She was a rather minor character in Season 1, where she was present at Bean's wedding as the officiant, but otherwise wasn't seen doing much else in the plot. Then in Season 2, [[spoiler:she's revealed to be TheDragon to Odval, and plays a critical role in prosecuting Bean for (accidentally) shooting Zøg. And Season 3 tops it by revealing she is working for Alva Gunderson, and actually comes from Steamland]].
* CatchPhrase: As she gets more screentime in season 3 hers becomes an [[SurroundedByIdiots irritated]] "Shut up."
* TheCameo: [[spoiler:She's briefly seen riding through Steamland in Season 4, her EvilLaugh can even be heard.]]
* CreepyShadowedUndereyes: Her eyes are surrounded by rings of darkness.
* TheDragon:
** [[spoiler:She's Odval's second-in-command in their secret society and manipulation of Dreamland's politics]].
** [[spoiler:However, her true loyalties were to Alva Gunderson of Steamland, up until she was fired.]]
* EvilPriestess: The head of Dreamland's church, [[spoiler:and a member of a conspiracy vying for control over the kingdom]].
* HighPriestess: She is the top minister of Dreamland's state church.
* {{Hypocrite}}: Is leader of the church, but it's pretty clear that she doesn't believe a word of what she preaches.
* IfICantHaveYou: In the final episode, [[spoiler:Alva puts on a helmet he claims serves the dual purpose of keeping him alive in space and preventing the Arch-Druidess from killing him. She promptly pulls out a hammer and smashes it, dooming them both]].
* IgnoredEnamouredUnderling: [[spoiler:For Alva Gunderson, even when he forgets her birthday.]]
* KarmaHoudini: Receives no real comeuppance for her part in [[spoiler:trying to kill Bean, driving Zøg insane, or killing Pendergast, beyond getting fired by Alva. The finale ends with her getting exactly what she wants.]]
* NeverBareheaded: Even when she's stripping down for an orgy, she never removes her hood.
* NoNameGiven: Her real name has yet to be revealed; she has [[OnlyKnownByTheirNickname only been referred to by her title]].
* PetTheDog: Despite being a psychotic jerkass to ''everyone'', she does at least [[spoiler:offer birthday congratulations to two Gunderson employees.]]
* SecretCircleOfSecrets: Like Odval and Sorcerio, she's also a member of the underground secret society that has orgies in the castle catacombs, [[spoiler:and conspires for control of the throne]].
* TakenForGranite: [[spoiler:She was also turned into stone by Queen Dagmar, and she was restored sooner than most so she could perform Zøg's and Oona's divorce.]]
* WomanScorned: [[spoiler:Even after Alva makes it clear he's not interested in her, she follows him back to Dreamland and has the Trogs abduct him so they can be together, whether he wants it or not.]]

[[folder:Pendergast, Turbish, and Mertz]]
!!!'''Sir Pendergast, Sir Turbish, and Sir Mertz'''
->'''Voiced by''': Eric Andre, Rich Fulcher, and Creator/BillyWest

Pendergast is a knight and one of the highest-ranked soldiers in Dreamland, reporting directly to King Zøg. His lord sends him off on unusual quests, alongside the younger knights Turbish and Mertz.
----
* AbhorrentAdmirer: Pendergast starts thinking that he and Bean are courting. Bean is... less than enthusiastic about that.
* BadBoss: Pendergast cares slightly less about losing three of his men than he does the armor they're wearing, describing the men themselves as the armor's "contents". He also once gave Turbish a "kill me" sign to wear.
* ClosestThingWeGot: In the first episode, Pendergast explains that his two best trackers, Striker and Bolt, are absent, so he's forced to resort to Turbish and Mertz instead.
* ComicTrio: Pendergast is the most competent of the three men, while Turbish and Mertz give him trouble.
* TheDitz: Turbish is the stupidest of the three.
* DoggedNiceGuy: Pendergast has a crush on Bean, and he evidently thinks he's a chivalrous knight courting a beautiful princess. But of course, Bean doesn't reciprocate.
* EvilCostumeSwitch: After Dagmar and Satan take over Dreamland in the final season, all the knights are given new, more sinister looking armor with SpikesOfVillainy.
* EyepatchOfPower: Pendergast wears an eyepatch over where his right eye should be. He lost it due to a drunken Zøg [[EyeScream throwing a spoon at it with enough force to scoop the eye out]]. He bears no ill will to Zøg about it.
* FatIdiot: Turbish.
* TheFriendNoOneLikes: Turbish. Pretty much everyone hates him, on account of his sheer stupidity.
* TheGuardsMustBeCrazy: Turbish and Mertz are so bad at their jobs people can just walk past them while they're distracted. That said, when assigned to keep Bean in her room forever, Turbish does a surprisingly good job at it.
* HiddenDepths:
** They turn out to be semi-competent musicians.
** Pendergast is also nearly the only person in the entire kingdom who likes and respects King Zøg, since he knew him when he was a dashing young warrior.
* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler:Pendergast in the first episode of season 3 when he tries to help Zøg escape the castle]]
* TheMainCharactersDoEverything: Zigzagged, but erring toward playing the trope straight. Pendergast is shown to have other knights, and on occasion uses them along with Turbish and Mertz. It's just that [[RedshirtArmy they have a bad tendency to die]].
* MyBelovedSmother: [[JewishMother Mertz's mom]] joins them on their quest in "The Limits of Immortality", berating her son and annoying everyone all the while.
* NoGoodDeedGoesUnpunished: For all his flaws, Pendergast is loyal to Zøg and does everything he can to protect him. [[spoiler: Keeping Zøg safe from a coup ultimately gets him killed.]]
* PermaStubble: Pendergast, aside from briefly in "Love's Tender Rampage", when he shaves for a ball.
* SecretCircleOfSecrets: Turbish is either a member, or just keeps getting invited to their meetings despite Odval instructing people ''not'' to invite him to the orgies.
* StrawMisogynist: Pendergast. In "For Whom the Pig Oinks", he tries to block entry to Bean to board Merkimer's party ship, mistakenly believing that a "[[WomenAreDelicate delicate flower]]" like herself can't handle traveling on the high seas. In "The Princess of Darkness", he tells Zøg that giving Bean an education was a "mistake".
* TakenForGranite: [[spoiler:Pendergast is one of the first people turned to stone by Queen Dagmar. Turbish and Mertz follow a little later. Like everybody else, they get better at the start of season 2]]
* ThoseTwoGuys: With Pendergast dead, Turbish and Mertz became this.
* TookALevelInJerkass: Pendergast is always friendly towards Bean, even if his loyalties are to the king. However late in the show, [[spoiler:he tracks Bean to lead him to [[HiddenElfVillage Elfwood]], and maniacally enjoys hunting down the elves.]]
* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: Pendergast trying to forcefully take the gun out of Bean's hands [[spoiler:leads to Zøg being nearly fatally shot, causing Odval's secret order to take over.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Striker]]

One of Pendergast's better knights.

* ChekhovsGag: Mentioned as being missing in the first episode, he finally appears in "Bad Moon Rising" in Part 3, having returned along with Sir Bolt, but no-one really cares.
* CruelAndUnusualDeath: [[spoiler:He's eaten alive by Sea Trog spawn.]]
* RiddleForTheAges: The circumstances of his being missing are never given.
* SecretCircleOfSecrets: He's part of the Secret Society, same as Odval.

!!!'''Bunty'''
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bunty.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by''': Lucy Montgomery

Princess Bean's nanny and lady-in-waiting, who's overburdened with cleaning up her messes. She's also the wife of Stan.
----
* AbusiveParents: Played completely for laughs. She and her husband put their many, many children to work from the minute they're born. To be fair, that might be more out of necessity than pure exploitation. She also sees nothing wrong with throwing them at attacking orcs until the orcs get full and go away.
* BewareTheNiceOnes:
** She casually mentions to a young Bean (then riding her as a horse when Bean wasn't allowed to ride one because she wasn't a heir to the throne unlike Derek) that it's fine for Bean to put her in such a ridiculous position because her people will eventually overthrow and kill Bean's family anyway. Luckily, this hasn't come to pass.
** In the big pitched battle near the end of Season 5, she's shown to be one of the most lethal fighters on the heroes' side, annihilating five or more guards at once using a molotov cocktail.
* CharacterizationMarchesOn: In Part 1 she's mostly just a ditz. "Love's Slimey Embrace" adds her violent socio-political views.
* ChocolateBaby: Several of her kids are very clearly ''not'' Stan's.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: Bunty is, to put it mildly, not all there, and often fixates on completely bizarre ideas.
* CovertPervert: Her reaction to Queen Dagmar's return is to continually prod her breasts, until Dagmar tells her to stop.
* TheDitz: Freely admits to being "dim as the day is long".
* ExplosiveBreeder: She has ''a lot'' of children. At one point, she casually gives birth to a newborn infant over the breakfast table, with the midwife being one of her older kids.
* MaskOfSanity: She's harbouring some serious revenge fantasies against Bean and dreams of [[TheRevolutionWillNotBeCivilized violently overthrowing the aristocracy]]. Occasionally these slip out in calm mutterings.
* ManifestoMakingMalcontent: In the final season, she attempts to read from a manifesto promoting the watering of the flowers of freedom with the blood of the aristocracy... but is told to shut up.
* OopNorth: Bunty speaks in a Northern English accent.
* ParentalSubstitute: Bean says she's the closest thing she's had to a mother-figure since Dagmar's death. And indeed, [[spoiler:according to Stan there's no one Bunty loves more in the world than Bean, which is why he helps her escape her execution]].
* StepfordSmiler: She's always friendly and helpful, but when Tess gets the ability to see into people's minds she claims that Bunty has a lot of anger she doesn't let anyone see.
-->'''Bunty''': ''(cheerfully)'' It's why I can't keep a dog alive.
* TakenForGranite: She's among the many victims of Queen Dagmar, becoming a stone statue in Bean's room.

!!!'''Stan'''
->'''Voiced by''': Creator/NoelFielding

King Zøg's official executioner and torturer. He's also the husband of Bunty.
----
* AffablyEvil: He's rather friendly and soft-spoken despite being a cheerful executioner for [[TheCaligula King Zøg]].
* CrackOhMyBack: Falls victim to this while picking up some stuff at work. He decides to use his own rack to fix it.
* TheExecutioner: His job is to behead condemned prisoners (especially anyone who has ever slighted Zøg) with an axe.
* KickTheDog: When Bean fails to execute Gwen (a harmless old lady), he cheerfully tells her she's not just a quitter and a failure, but also a loser, then proceeds to taunt her about it.
* NeverHeardThatOneBefore: He cracks a [[BlackComedy joke]] that he'll [[{{Pun}} "beheading to work"]], then tells Bean she'll hear all of those in the first fifteen minutes of the job.
-->'''Stan''': ''(cheerfully)'' Then it's basically just human tragedy.
* NoSympathy: Towards his victims, such as the guy who's been imprisoned his entire life for throwing a snowball at the castle.
-->'''Stan:''' Every twenty years going on about this "pre-trial hearing"...
* PetTheDog: [[spoiler:He secretly allows Bean, Elfo, and Luci to escape from their cell in the dungeon and avoid their pending executions, because his wife Bunty loves Bean like a daughter and believes she's innocent of the crimes she's been charged with.]]
* PunchClockVillain: Killing and maiming people is just what he does for a living to support his family, and he's otherwise a fairly jovial individual.
* TortureTechnician: Aside from carrying an axe to sever people's heads, he also uses a variety of torture tools for other physical punishments on prisoners.
* TheQuietOne: Outside of "Faster, Princess! Kill! Kill", he doesn't speak much in Season 1. Season 2 gives him more speaking parts.
* WalkingShirtlessScene: His work outfit consists of a black hood, wristbands, pants, and no shirt.
* YouKillItYouBoughtIt: Becomes a school teacher because he killed the actual teacher, for trying to form a teacher's union.

->'''Voiced by''': Creator/DavidHerman

A messenger who walks around the castle and streets of Dreamland, announcing and informing everyone of the latest news.
----
* AmbiguouslyBrown: His skin tone is a bit swarthy.
* TheDogBitesBack: Bean gives him a DopeSlap at one point. A few minutes later, he returns it, but since Bean's in a funk she merely says she deserved it.
* KentBrockmanNews: He's the medieval equivalent of a modern newscaster.
-->"Hear ye, hear ye, your food may be poisoned! [[ClickbaitGag Find out how later]]!"
* MadeOfIron: In "Castle Party Massacre", the Land Vikings fire three arrows into his back. Not only does he survive, but [[MajorInjuryUnderreaction his only reaction]] is to simply ask that they ''please stop'' [[ShootTheMessenger shooting him]].
* NoIndoorVoice: Understandable, since being heard is his job.

[[folder:The Jester]]
!!!'''The Jester'''
->'''Voiced by''': Creator/BillyWest

The royal court jester, who tries (and fails) to entertain Zøg with lame jokes.
----
* BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor: When Zøg finally does laugh at one of his acts, it's because he's going insane and thinks the jester's head-on-a-stick is Pendergast, deeply unnerving the jester.
* BoomHeadshot: [[spoiler:Killed in the finale by Oona and her pirates blasting his head off with a cannonball.]]
* ButtMonkey: Zøg has a tendency to have the Jester defenestrated out of windows, or sent falling down a {{trapdoor}} leading to the ocean.
* CatchPhrase: "Oh no!", trailing off into a sad chuckle; always said before he gets thrown or falls into the ocean. It's to the point where [[BorrowedCatchphrase other characters who fall through the trap door or off cliffs into the ocean recycle it]].
* IronButtMonkey: Always seems to survive being dropped down the trap door, and the subsequent attack of the frenzied crabs at the bottom.
* SadClown: His voice is laced with disappointment. Justified since he's constantly defenestrated by Zøg or others.
-->'''Jester:''' ''(falling into the ocean)'' I hope I die this time!
* ScrewThisImOutOfHere: Flees Dreamland in the final episode of season 5, only then having figured out whenever he says "oh, no!" something bad happens.
* TakenForGranite: Can be heard exclaiming "Oh, no!" when Dagmar's petrification potion spreads over Dreamland.
* YankTheDogsChain: The one time he manages to get all the way through a set, he points it out. Immediately, a boulder thrown by Zøg hits the stage he's standing on.

Sorcerio's assistant, who as the name suggests is usually seen mopping.
----
* AscendedExtra: She starts off as a RecurringExtra, quietly doing stuff in the background, usually mopping. Eventually starts getting speaking roles. By the later half of Part 4, she's bumped up to recurring character. By part 5, she becomes an unofficial addition to the main PowerTrio, taking Bean's place during the early season Dreamland plotline while Bean teams up with Zøg and Mora to rescue her family and close up plotlines in Maru and Steamland.
* AmbiguouslyHuman: Tells Elfo [[spoiler: "We're not human"]]. Elfo pushes her hair to the side after she falls asleep, revealing both eyes for the first time, [[spoiler: and pointed elf ears]]. Miri later explains she was found in the woods and doesn't know her parents.
* AwesomeMomentOfCrowning: [[spoiler:Becomes the queen of Dreamland in the series finale.]]
* BeneathNotice: As Mop Girl, most people don't notice her. As the coffee shop girl, she drops several hints who she is to Bean, who doesn't catch on. [[spoiler:Being unnoticed is a prominent part of her strategy to defeat Dagmar in Part 5.]]
* BerserkButton: Poking her ears. [[spoiler:When Elfo does so after finding they're elf ears, she murmurs that if he does it again, she'll kill him.]]
* CheatedAngle: No matter which way she's facing, one of her eyes will be hidden behind her hair, changing depending on which way she's facing.
* TheChosenOne: [[spoiler:Turns out to be the actual savior of the Trogs at the very end of the series, with the symbol showing it was her having been hidden by a massive pile of dust.]]
* EveryoneCallsHerBarkeep: Is referred to as "mop girl" almost exclusively, even [[spoiler: when she's crowned Queen of Dreamland.]] She asks a crowd if any of them know her actual name and one person guesses "Bucket Bitch."
* GivenNameReveal: Her real name (Miri) is officially revealed in Part 2, when a waitress, who also claims to have a job in the castle working for "self-absorbed people", gives her name to despondent Bean. Part 4 clarifies that Miri and Mop Girl are the same person when Miri/Mop Girl tells Luci her actual name.
* HiddenDepths: Claims she might be a witch at the end of Part 3. [[spoiler:Part 5 reveals that she isn't human, hiding ears similar to the Elves. She was abandoned in the woods as a baby and isn't entirely certain of her origins. Throughout Part 5 she also proves herself to be a competent leader, leading the uprising against Dagmar while Bean is absent. By the finale she has been made queen.]]
* HypercompetentSidekick: Admittedly, being more competent than Sorcerio is not much of an accomplishment. But as Part 4 goes on, she shows herself to be one of the more intelligent and helpful people in Dreamland. [[spoiler:Her competence is really showcased in Part 5 when she leads the resistance against Dagmar while Bean is away from Dreamland, and by the finale she has been crowned the new queen.]]
* LazyBum: By her own admission, is terrible at mopping, and will usually just spend hours mopping the same spot. The first half of Part 5 has Elfo attempting to coax her to use her potential and [[spoiler:lead the uprising against Dagmar]] despite her insistence that she stay in the background.
* OddFriendship: She and Luci get on surprisingly well. [[spoiler:She even saves him from Cloyd and Becky.]] Part 5 has her and Elfo becoming more friendly [[spoiler:and eventually enter a relationship, becoming king and queen of Dreamland in the finale.]]
* PreAsskickingOneLiner: "It's ''Miri.''" Followed by using Luci to [[spoiler:set Cloyd and Becky on fire.]]
* ShorterMeansSmarter: She claims to be in her twenties, and is short from excessive caffeine consumption, while being more intelligent than everyone in the cast. [[spoiler:However, her shortness actually comes from her half-elf heritage.]]
* WhamLine: Tells Elfo "[[spoiler:''We're'']] not human".

!!!'''Vip and Vap'''
->'''Voiced by''': [=N/A=]

King Zøg's diminutive royal cape-bearers, who accompany him at all formal occasions.
----
* AmbiguouslyHuman: What exactly they are has never been specified. Just that Dagmar captured them on Yum-Yum Island.
* AmbiguouslyRelated: Dagmar refers to them, and the deceased Vop, as brothers. But it's unclear if that's true or they're lovers, HeterosexualLifePartners, or some combination of the above.
* DeadGuyOnDisplay: There used to be a third one of them, named Vop, whom Bean and friends find stuffed and mounted in Dagmar's secret room.
* {{Expy}}: They're based on Akbar and Jeff from ''ComicStrip/LifeInHell''.
* FlatCharacter: They're not given much characterization.
* HorseOfADifferentColor: When they abandon Zøg, he tries to get them back with promises of their own tiny horses and not rats with saddles like last time.
* MouseHole: They have two of them leading to their same bedroom.
* SleepsInTheNude: "The Disenchantress" reveals they sleep entirely in the buff.
* ThoseTwoGuys: All we really know about them thus far is that they're a duo.
* TheVoiceless: Outside of laughter, they don't say much.

A cat from the streets of Dreamland, who gets appointed royal cat during Zøg's extended fit of madness.

----
* CatsAreSnarkers: Almost every word that comes out of Scruffles' mouth is a snide remark.
* CaptainErsatz: Several layers deep - it’s Billy West doing an impersonation of Creator/DawsButler as Mr. Jinx from WesternAnimation/PixieDixieAndMrJinks whose character was a pastiche of a young Creator/MarlonBrando.
* KilledOffscreen: In the final episode of the final season, [[spoiler:Scruffles shows up in Heaven when God decides to let cats back in, despite it not being shown when and how he died]].
* LaserGuidedKarma: Mocking Luci for being treated like Zøg's cat results in him getting beaten up by Luci, and made the new royal cat.
* RightHandCat: Sides with Satan and Dagmar when they take over the kingdom. Bizarrely, Scruffles is the ''only'' person Dagmar likes and trusts.
* SignatureLaugh: Tyee-he-he.
* UnusuallyUninterestingSight: No-one is surprised by an actual talking cat.
* VerbalTic: Tends to, like, sprinkle his sentences with the occasional "like" and "y'know".
