!! Rudolph Bartholomew "Rudy" Tabootie
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rudy_tabootie_laughing.jpg]]

->Voiced by: Creator/ElizabethDaily

The main protagonist of the show. In the original ''Oh Yeah! Cartoons'' shorts, he was eight years old when he first discovered [=ChalkZone=] by finding a piece of Magic Chalk in his classroom. Come the show, he is now ten years old, and continues to have adventures in [=ChalkZone=].
----
* ArtAttacker: His main weapon is a piece of Magic Chalk, which can bring whatever he draws to life.
* BadassAdorable: He's only a kid, but his Magic Chalk enables him to accomplish many heroic feats.
* BadassPacifist: He's not a violent person, and tends to solve his problems with drawing, convincing, etc.
* BerserkButton: Apparently, not being invited to birthday parties is one for him, as Poison Pen Letter has shown.
* CharacterCatchphrase: "Get ready to eat chalk" whenever he faces off with the VillainOfTheWeek.
* DisneyDeath: He's had a couple of fake-out deaths. "Double Trouble" has it look like Skrawl and Craniac's robot Rudy kayoed him before Snap asks him to speak to him, while "Tiny Pirate Problem" has Red Facial Hair and his crew make him walk the plank, which Rudy [[BriarPatching manipulated them into doing]] so he could recover his piece of magic chalk that was thrown into the ocean.
* EarlyInstallmentCharacterDesignDifference: The first two ''WesternAnimation/OhYeahCartoons'' shorts depicted him with a rounder head, a smaller nose, more prominent cheeks and a clear distinction between his head and his neck in addition to wearing a long-sleeve shirt. Justified, as he was two years younger then.
* EmbarrassingFirstName: Rudolph.
* GiveGeeksAChance: Creators of the show have confirmed that Rudy and Penny would be a thing by the time they graduated.
* HeroProtagonist: He is the main protagonist and does everything he can to help out the people of [=ChalkZone=].
* IdiotHero: A mild example. He isn't stupid, but prone to carelessness.
* JerkassBall: While normally a nice kid, he falls into this in at least a couple episodes.
** The ChristmasEpisode, "When Santas Collide", shows a greedy side of Rudy. When he's all but told he's not getting the Christmas present he wants due to how expensive it is, he loses his shit, insults his father's Santa suit, and calls Christmas baloney and bogus. Then he decides that he's staying at [=ChalkZone=] for their Christmas celebration, effectively choosing it over his own at home. It takes his usual NiceJobBreakingItHero moment for him to reconsider.
** "School of Destruction". Even before he threw a tantrum after being told he won't be seeing the titular rock band (due to his grades not improving), he showed an attitude to his mother while he was listening to them. Then, he decides to use [=ChalkZone=] to sneak his way into the band, which causes it to be nearly exposed by them. While his mother could have at least heard him out, this is straight-up OutOfCharacter for Rudy.
* KidHero: He's in the 5th grade and has the responsibility of protecting [=ChalkZone=].
* KidsAreCruel: Well, to Mr. Wilter, but mainly averted.
* TheKirk: He balances the differing attitudes of Penny and Snap.
* NiceGuy: He really enjoys helping people out and gets worried when his friends have problems.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: Some of the problems that happen in [=ChalkZone=] are ''his'' fault. Other times he stumbles onto something and does his best to help.
* NiceMeanAndInbetween: The in-between to Penny's nice and Snap's mean. While for the most part, Rudy is an equal-opportunity helper who loves to solve people's problems, he also has a slightly mischievous streak and can act a bit smug, causing him to be somewhat short-sighted.
* PrecociousCrush: In "The Crush", he develops an attraction toward Queen Rapsheeba's creator Trina, who is clearly in her teens. Trina ultimately breaks it to him that she can't reciprocate his affections because he should be with girls his own age.
* PuppyLove: He's got an obvious crush on Penny.
* RhymingNames: Well, his first name is really Rudolph, but his last name and his nickname together counts.
* SaveTheVillain: Rudy has had to bail out Reggie Bullnerd several times when he got the blame for something Rudy did.
* TookALevelInBadass: Drawing wise, Rudy's first ever drawing was Blocky in 1st grade. 2nd grade? He made an old woman in a bathtub and by fifth grade, his mom stated that it took him only four weeks for the newspaper to get his comics published whereas the mom took four ''years'' for a single article.
* VocalEvolution: His voice was higher in the Oh Yeah! shorts than it was in the series.

!! Penelope Victoria "Penny" Sanchez
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/penny_sanchez_s4.jpg]]

->Voiced by: Creator/HyndenWalch

Rudy's friend/love interest. She is a studious ten-year old girl who was introduced to the world of [=ChalkZone=] when Reggie Bullnerd erased her scientific formula, and Rudy took her into [=ChalkZone=] in an attempt to get it back. Since then, she's often accompanied Rudy on his misadventures.
----
* AdorablyPrecociousChild: In one episode, she creates a perpetual motion machine!
* BadassAdorable: Like Rudy, she is a likable child and has done her share of saving [=ChalkZone=].
* BlackBeadEyes: She's shown with these when not wearing her glasses.
* CharacterCatchphrase:
** "This is unacceptable!" (Rather ironic considering a [[WesternAnimation/AdventureTime future role]] Hynden would later work on). The episode “Taffy” hints that she apparently gets it from her mother.
** She likes to say "Fascinating" when she makes a new discovery. You know, being a scientist and all.
** She also says "Rudy, you're alright!" when Rudy recovers from a DisneyDeath or some other perilous situation.
* ChildProdigy: She is very intelligent. In some cases, one would wonder how she's still in the same class as Rudy.
* ClingyJealousGirl: Mild case; she's ''not'' pleased when Rudy develops a crush on Trina.
* CuteBookworm: She likes reading books. Overlaps with BadassBookworm sometimes.
* DeadpanSnarker: She sometimes makes cutting remarks about the weirdness of [=ChalkZone=].
* DisappearedDad: Her father is never seen.
* FaceHeelTurn: In "Chalk Queen", Skrawl captures her and convinces her to join forces with him, as since Rudy didn't help her with her homework, they both have a bone to pick with him. (That, and Skrawl threatened to [[ADogAteMyHomework feed her homework to a dog]]) [[spoiler:[[FakeDefector It was all just a ruse to get Skrawl to trust her enough to give her access to the Magic Chalk and help Rudy defeat him.]]]]
* FangThpeak: She has this kind of impediment for no visible reason.
* NiceGirl: Like Rudy, she is a decent human being.
* NiceMeanAndInbetween: The nice to Snap's mean and Rudy's in-between. More often than not, Penny finds herself being the voice of reason among the trio and serves to be an analyst who can {{lampshade|hanging}} some of the absurdities of [=ChalkZone=] without getting on her high horse about it.
* RedOniBlueOni: The blue oni to Snap's red.
* SecretKeeper: After she found out about [=ChalkZone=], she swore to keep it a secret.
* SlouchOfVillainy: The first shot of her as the "Chalk Queen" has her [[http://img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20121020124034/chalkzone/images/3/35/Chalk_Queen.jpg sitting like this]] on her throne.
* TheSmartGirl: She tends to be the brains of the team.
* TheSpock: She is the group's intellectual.
* ThisIsUnforgivable: Her catchphrase when something bad happens to her is to state that it is unacceptable.
* VitriolicBestBuds: She often gets into disputes with Snap.

!! Snap White
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/snapchalkzone_5831.jpg]]

->Voiced by: Creator/CandiMilo

A superhero-like Zoner created by Rudy when he was eight years old. When Rudy entered [=ChalkZone=], he discovered Snap and the two have gone on adventures as close friends. There are times when Snap entered the real world, either on purpose, or dragged there by being kidnapped.
----
* AmusingInjuries: Snap doesn't have the same anatomy and physics as Rudy and Penny (and the other humans) and often gets cartoonishly injured (such as SquashedFlat).
* BadassAdorable: It comes with the territory of being a living version of a chalk drawing Rudy made when he was 8.
* BadassNormal: Well, Generic Man thinks so, anyway.
* BerserkButton: Just ''don't'' tell Snap that he's PluckyComicRelief.
* BigBrotherInstinct: Snap is often very protective of Blocky and Rudy.
* BlessedWithSuck: His lack of superpowers makes him immune to Major Brand's sponge vision.
* BlueIsHeroic: He's one of the main heroes, and his color scheme is blue.
* CharacterCatchphrase:
** "Great gumballs!"
** "Great chalkin', Bucko."
** "Oy coloy!"
** Also "RUDY, YOU GOTTA DRAW SOMETHING!" which is occasionally [[BorrowedCatchphrase borrowed]] by other characters (usually Penny).
* ADayInTheLimelight: Every episode in the show (except for the {{Extra Long Episode}}s "When Santas Collide" and "The Big Blow-Up") has a skit with him as the main protagonist.
* DeadpanSnarker: Frequently makes remarks about the trouble he gets into.
* EarlyInstallmentCharacterDesignDifference: The ''WesternAnimation/OhYeahCartoons'' shorts depicted him with darker colors.
* FingerlessHands: He has no fingers.
* HollywoodToneDeaf: In "The Big Loo". Otherwise, he doesn't sing ''that'' bad.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He can be a bit crass at times, but in the end he cares about helping Rudy and Penny save the day and is often shown to be caring toward his fellow Rudy creation Blocky.
* {{Joisey}}: Speaks in a New Jersey accent.
* KidAppealCharacter: He's dressed like a superhero, is less responsible than Rudy and Penny, and is even way younger than them due to being a living drawing.
* TheLancer: He is always at Rudy's side.
* TheMcCoy: He is the most emotional of the trio.
* TheNapoleon: He's really, really short (even shorter than Rudy) and gets angry fast.
* NiceMeanAndInbetween: The mean to Penny's nice and Rudy's in-between. Snap isn't a {{jerkass}}, as he can easily show compassion, especially to Rudy, but he's the most temperamental of the trio who can get irritated quickly, and he and Penny often [[VitriolicBestBuds get on each other's nerves]].
* TheNicknamer: Mild case; he's [[AffectionateNickname dubbed]] Rudy "Bucko" and Penny "Buckette" though [[EmbarrassingNickname she doesn't really care for it]].
* NoSell: He is completely immune to Major Brand's sponge vision because he doesn't have any superpowers.
* PluckyComicRelief: Though [[BerserkButton he doesn't like being called this trope.]]
* RedOniBlueOni: The red oni to Penny's blue.
* VagueAge: While he's technically about two years old, his mental age is a mystery. He looks and acts like he's around Rudy's age, and he's also been shown to live on his own, have a crush on Rapsheeba (who is clearly in her teens/an adult), been able to gamble, and has driven a car on at least one occasion.
* VerbalTic: "Right, Bucko?"
* VitriolicBestBuds: He often gets into disputes with Penny.
* VocalEvolution: His accent was more notable in the series than in the Oh Yeah! shorts.
* YourApprovalFillsMeWithShame: On at least a couple of occasions, Snap will make Rudy realize he's doing wrong... by applauding them. In Disappearing Act, his cheering on of Rudy's practical joke on Reggie makes Rudy feel guilty about it. In The Smooch, when only a smooch can undo Penny's [[LaughingMad uncontrollable laughter]], Rudy tried to trap her, and when Snap congratulates him on it, Rudy decides not to go through with it.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Other humans]]

!! Reginald Brunicky Tracey Aloysius Socrates Yauney Sunshine "Reggie" Bullnerd
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/81293c54_1afc_4fb7_875e_23456eb3a316.jpeg]]

->Voiced by: Creator/CandiMilo

* TheBully: He always picks on other kids.
* ButtMonkey: He quite often gets humiliated as a result of Rudy's actions.
* TheChewToy: His humiliation is satisfying because he otherwise isn't punished for his bullying.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: He is very eccentric at times.
* TheDitz: It's made apparent that he doesn't know how to spell. He asks Mr. Wilter how to spell "cartoon" at the end of the original pilot short on ''WesternAnimation/OhYeahCartoons'' and in "Rudy's Date" is shown to think that cow is spelled with a K.
* DumbMuscle: While lacking in brains, he does have plenty of brawn.
* EvilCounterpart: He temporarily became one to Rudy in "Reggie the Red" after he found a piece of red chalk and used it to terrorize everyone in [=ChalkZone=].
* FatIdiot: He is a bit overweight.
* InsufferableImbecile: He lacks just as much intelligence as he does kindness.
* IronicName: His last name has the word "nerd" in it, but he's anything but smart. However, he does dress like a stereotypical nerd.
* {{Jerkass}}: He has very few scruples.
* KidsAreCruel: He is a bully.
* LargeHam: He often raises his voice.
* MissingMom: We never see his mother.
* SmallNameBigEgo: Several episodes reveal that he thinks he's better than he actually is.
* ThoseTwoGuys: With his dad, Bruno.

!! Mr. Horace T. Wilter
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/abe1e6b9_e35a_4f29_941d_274d19640007.png]]

->Voiced by: Robert Cait

* BerserkButton: Don't draw something in front of Mr. Wilter unless you want him to go on a tirade about how much he hates fictional...''CARTOONS!''
* ButtMonkey: He never catches a break.
* TheEeyore: He is rarely in a positive mood.
* EvilTeacher: Subverted in that while he does not like it when his students draw cartoons, he's just really strict, not evil.
* FantasticRacism: The man hates cartoons, but when Rudy does any other creative activity like carve a Jack O'Lantern or build a puppet theater for the talent show, he's quite impressed.
* FreudianExcuse: In "The Smudges", Rudy discovers a duo of chalk characters who were drawn several years ago. We discover their creator is none other Mr. Wilter. He is actually quite happy to see them and we soon discover that his disdain for cartoons comes from his dad treating him the same way Mr. Wilter treats his students now whenever he drew cartoons.
* GagNose: Has a long pointy nose.
* GoKartingWithBowser: On at least a couple occasions, he will join in on Rudy and his friends in the music videos and party with them. Subverted in "Greetings from Greenland", where he is quite freaked out by the animated postcards.
* {{Jerkass}}: He'll be unrelenting to whoever dares draw a cartoon.
* ManChild: He sometimes comes off as immature. Aside from his unreasonable animosity towards cartoons being expressed in ways an adult isn't expected to, it is shown in "The Smudges" that he sleeps with a teddy bear and still sucks his thumb.
* NoCelebritiesWereHarmed: According to Bill Burnett, Creator/NormMacdonald and Music/BobDylan were an influence on Mr. Wilter's voice. Macdonald was actually considered to be cast for the role but the [[WhatCouldHaveBeen crew was shot down by Nickelodeon's casting department and ultimately chose Robert Cait since he can do a good impression of Norm]].
* PetTheDog: He shows instances of this in certain episodes, but "Howdy Rudy" probably provides the best case scenario. If him being [[SoProudOfYou impressed]] with Rudy and Penny's puppet and later showing sympathy when it was destroyed ([[OOCIsSeriousBusiness despite his hatred of cartoons]]) isn't enough, then how about showing sympathy for Rudy when he took a minor spill caused by Reggie's dog? Keep in mind that the spill he took wasn't even that bad.
* SternTeacher: On his better days, he is strict but well-meaning.

!! Joe Tabootie
->Voiced by: Creator/JessHarnell
Rudy's father who runs a butcher shop/deli restaurant.
----
* BumblingDad: As with most cartoon fathers, he's a bit oblivious and out-of-touch with his son's problems.
* ChildhoodFriendRomance: It's established in "Hole in the Wall" that he's been in love with his wife Mildrid since they were children.
* ChubbyMamaSkinnyPapa: He's thin as a rail while his wife is rotund.
* CordonBleughChef: He's perfectly fine when he creates normal meat products, but he tends to come up with ''bizarre'' ideas like cheeseburger smoothies and hamburgers in lime gelatin, and doesn't understand why these never sell.
* TheDitz: He is not very bright.
* GagNose: He has a big nose.
* GoodParents: He tries to do what is best for his son Rudy.
* HappilyMarried: He and Mildred never have any problems with one another.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He can be a bit flippant toward Rudy at times (particularly, his tendency to dismiss his son's passion as a chalk artist as unproductive and trivial), but he ultimately does care about his son.
* JustAStupidAccent: Has a Canadian accent for no explained reason.
%%* UnexplainedAccent
* VocalEvolution: His voice is considerably deeper and gruffer in the ''Oh Yeah! Cartoons'' shorts (though the shorts in question were redubbed with his current cadence when they were repackaged as segments of the actual series).

!! Mildrid Tabootie
->Voiced by: Miriam Flynn
Rudy's mother.
----
* CharacterCatchphrase: She likes to call Rudy by operatically singing his name.
* ChildhoodFriendRomance: "Hole in the Wall" reveals that Joe was in love with her since they were children.
* ChubbyMamaSkinnyPapa: She is overweight while her husband is gaunt.
* GoodParents: She loves her son and tries to make it so that he makes the right decisions and is happy.
* HappilyMarried: She is always happy to be with her husband Joe.

!! Tillie [=McNally=]
->Voiced by: Creator/GreyDeLisle
Rudy's maternal aunt.
----
* ChuckCunninghamSyndrome: She's never seen again after the ChristmasEpisode "When Santas Collide".
* StrongFamilyResemblance: Her face looks just like her sister's.

!! Sophie [=McNally=]
->Voiced by: Creator/GreyDeLisle
Tillie's daughter and Rudy's 2-year-old cousin.
----
* CheerfulChild: She is one constantly happy toddler.
* ChuckCunninghamSyndrome: As with her mother, she just disappears from the show after the ChristmasEpisode.
* DisappearedDad: We only see her mother. The current whereabouts of her father remain unknown.

!! Dr. Sanchez
->Voiced by: Creator/NikaFutterman
Penny's mother.
----
* AnimalLover: She's a veterinarian, so of course she'd be nice to animals.
* LikeParentLikeChild: Like Penny, she is highly intelligent.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: She has a noticeable resemblance to her daughter.
* UnnamedParent: Her first name is unknown.

!! Principal Stringet
->Voiced by: Iona Morris

The principal of Rudy's school.
----
* OnlySaneMan: She's one of the only sensible adults in the show.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: She is usually shown as a fair leader, even telling off Mr. Wilter for his irrational hatred of cartoons and drawing.

!! Bruno Bullnerd
->Voiced by: Creator/JeffBennett

Reggie's father. He's the town garbage man as well as the president of the city council.
----
* BigEater: As featured in The Heist.
* FatIdiot: He's not always very smart.
* {{Gonk}}: His face is very odd-looking.
* OutOfFocus: He stopped appearing during the third season, but resumed making appearances in season four.
* ThoseTwoGuys: With his son, Reggie.

!! Officer O'Larry
->Voiced by: Steve Kehela

* FatIdiot: He is easily diverted from discovering [=ChalkZone=].
* {{Gonk}}: He has an odd-looking face.
* OfficerOHara: Has an Irish accent.

!! Terry Bouffant

->Voiced by: Creator/GreyDeLisle

A newsreporter that first appeared in The Wiggies. She eventually gets wise to [=ChalkZone=] and dedicates herself to exposing it.
----
* TheConspiracy: She connects the strange events plaguing Plainsville, including the wiggies and the chalk water that turned adults into ninnies, to [=ChalkZone=], and knows full well that Rudy and Penny are trying to keep that world a secret.
* {{Determinator}}: Nothing will make her give up trying to reveal [=ChalkZone=] to the public. Not even having her hair chewed off again by a wiggie on national television and being demoted to small news was enough to make her give up.
* EvilRedhead: She has red hair and is one of the more antagonistic characters.
* FromNobodyToNightmare: Starts off as a generic reporter who was relatively harmless. Come "Indescent Exposure", and she's suddenly upgraded into a cunning and dangerous woman who came very close to exposing [=ChalkZone=]. She harasses Rudy and Penny, stalked them for months to get information, and even kidnapped Snap at one point.
* KnightOfCerebus: Several villains, both from [=ChalkZone=] and from the real world, have some funny or redeeming qualities. Terry... not so much.
* StalkerWithoutACrush: It's revealed in "Snap Vs. Boorat" that she has been constantly stalking Rudy and Penny for [=ChalkZone=]-related information. [[EvenEvilHasStandards Even Vinnie was unsettled by this.]]
-->'''Vinnie:''' Wow, you really are obsessed.
* VillainTeamUp: She joins forces with Vinnie in one episode to try to steal the Magic Chalk.

!! Vinnie Raton

->Voiced by: Creator/RobPaulsen

A greedy businessman who discovers [=ChalkZone=] after Rudy forgets to close the portal. He wants to create a theme park in that world to get rich.
----
* AnimalMotif: He barks like a dog when he's angry.
* BadBoss: Before he discovers [=ChalkZone=], he wasn't very nice to his construction worker. It doesn't help that it was his brother.
* DarkIsEvil: He wears a black jacket and has black hair.
* {{Determinator}}: He is obsessed with making his chalk world theme park, still clinging to it even months later. And that's not even getting into his first episode, where Rudy had to work extremely hard just to get him to leave.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Subverted. He has a brother, but it's made clear that he doesn't really care that much about him.
-->'''Vinnie:''' Now, listen. You're my brother, and I love you dearly... but if you don't turn this school to a pile of rubble by 3:00 this afternoon, I'll do it myself, and use ''YOU AS THE WRECKING BALL!''
* EvenEvilHasStandards: He was clearly unsettled by Terry's stalking of [=ChalkZone=]-related information. It was brief, but still.
* {{Expy}}: He has black hair, he wears a black leather jacket, he's Italian...doesn't he kinda look like an evil [[Series/HappyDays Fonzie]] to you?
* {{Jerkass}}: He's a mean and greedy little man who doesn't care about anything other than making a profit from exploiting [=ChalkZone=] and its inhabitants.
* JerkassHasAPoint: Even though he's a greedy sleazeball for a construction manager, that old school still had to be demolished, and he had every right to be angry at Rudy and Penny for trespassing on that construction site, even to [[ItMakesSenseInContext recover an old love letter from the former's father]].
* VillainTeamUp: He joins forces with Terry in one episode to try to steal the Magic Chalk.
* WouldHurtAChild: While he doesn't actually do anything to Rudy, in "Follow the Bouncing Bag", his comment of making Rudy tell him how to get into [=ChalkZone=] combined with his body posture seem to hint that he's willing to use force against a child to get what he wants.

!! Miss Tweezer

->Voiced by: Creator/DebiDerryberry

A teacher with a strong aversion toward the unrealistic and fanciful who tries to indoctrinate kids into only accepting "real" depictions over those that are "unreal".
----
* LeanAndMean: She's quite gaunt and pretty nasty about her aversion towards "unreal" things.
* MoralGuardians: Her obsession with teaching children to shun imagination gives off the vibe of being a moral crusader who thinks that what she opposes is corrupting children.
* VillainousBreakdown: She ends up going nuts after Rudy resists her torture and allows her to see various [=ChalkZone=] inhabitants.

!! Drew Yourface

->Voiced by: Creator/JessHarnell

A comic book artist that Rudy is very fond of.
----
* BlindWithoutEm: He can't see very well without his glasses.
* NiceGuy: He's shown to respect Rudy and unhesitatingly agrees to appear at his school.
* PunnyName: His name is a play on "drew your face".

!! Betty Bombast

->Voiced by: Creator/JessHarnell

A rock star who is the frontman of a band Rudy and Penny like called School of Destruction.
----
* AlliterativeName: Both parts of what is presumably his stage name begin with B.
* GenderBlenderName: Presumably as a nod to musicians like Music/MarilynManson and Music/AliceCooper, he and his bandmates Mary Tyler Morbid, Brittany Knives and Dorothy Vader are men who go by feminine first names.
* HiddenDepths: He commends Rudy for declining his offer to participate in a music video and stating he should focus on studying to improve his grades, showing that while he and his band make a show of destroying textbooks and beating up dummies dressed as teachers during their performances, he actually does understand the value of education.

!!Trina

->Voiced by: Creator/RosslynnTaylor

Queen Rapsheeba's creator whom Rudy had a crush on.
----
* NiceGirl: A genuinely nice and polite young girl.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Starts to get suspicious when Rudy brings up an idea she turned down, making her think he was stalking her. She even pulls a trick on him when she finds out he likes her.
* ArtsyBeret: Is shown showing this.
* SatelliteLoveInterest: Her sole purpose is for someone for Rudy to crush on.
* TwoferTokenMinority: Black and female.

The most recurring antagonist on the show. Skrawl was originally going to be a birthday gift by Rudy to a girl named Michelle at her birthday party, but Reggie Bullnerd and his friends ruined it, and Michelle erased him into [=ChalkZone=]. Ever since then, Skrawl has blamed Rudy for his grotesque appearance, and constantly schemes to bring him down.
----
* ArchEnemy: To Rudy, according to the brain in "Skrawl's Brain".
* BenevolentBoss: Believe it or not, he is this to the Beanie Boys. He doesn't [[BadBoss abuse, beat, or yell at them]] like most other villains (unless they're Beanie Boys in training, as we've seen in "Beanie Boys to Men"). He also appears to be protective of them, as when Rudy deflects his giant brain's lasers back at him in "Skrawl's Brain", he shouts "Look out!"
* BigBad: He is the most frequently recurring antagonist. In fact, in "Skrawl's Brain", the titular brain refers to him as Rudy's archnemesis.
* CardCarryingVillain: "I'm evil, get it?"
* CartoonCreature: Skrawl is of ambiguous species, and has been called a "jellybean", "amoeba", "potato" and "bug" on several different occasions.
* CreateYourOwnVillain: Subverted. Although Rudy didn't really draw him, Rudy knew about [=ChalkZone=] when Michelle erased Skrawl. The subversion is in play because Rudy had no reason to think he'd become evil or seek revenge.
* CreepyJazzMusic: Has a little jazz tune for both his {{Leitmotif}} and VillainSong.
* DastardlyWhiplash: Has this look in his debut episode when Rudy tries to fix him. though he fits more into the EvilGenius variety.
* DisproportionateRetribution: His entire reason for wanting revenge on Rudy is for drawing him the way he is, something Rudy didn't even ''do''.
* EnemyMine: Is forced into this in "Skrawl's Brain."
* EvilIsBigger: Skrawl is much bigger than Rudy Tabootie and most other Zoners. He's approximately 10 feet tall.
* ForTheEvulz: In his debut appearance, he promised Rudy he would let him keep the chalk, providing he would make modifications to him. Even though Skrawl liked his new looks, he breaks his promise by stealing the chalk anyway, and attempting to have everyone in the art museum drowned, reasoning "I'm evil, get it?"
* HiddenDepths: According to an interview with Bill Burnett, the reason why [[spoiler: Skrawl is crying at the end of Let's Go Wandering]] is not because it's a nod to the end of the series, but instead it's because Rudy is still his creator, the one who practically gave birth to him, and without him, he would literally be nothing. In Bill's own words, it would be like "saying goodbye to God". This could explain why Skrawl seems to express more interest in just enslaving Rudy rather than just killing him.
* IconicSequelCharacter: He's one of the show's most notable characters, but didn't exist in the original ''Oh Yeah! Cartoons'' shorts and didn't appear until the season one episode "The Skrawl".
* {{Leitmotif}}: His appearances are sometimes accompanied by an instrumental version of his VillainSong.
* {{Malaproper}}: His debut episode has him confusing words with similar-sounding ones, like saying "fondue" instead of "adieu" and "au reservoir" instead of "au revoir".
* MeaningfulName: He was ''scrawled'' onto a chalkboard.
* NoCelebritiesWereHarmed: According to Bill Burnett, New Orleans singer Mac "Dr. John" Rebennack was the inspiration for Skrawl's voice and singing style. Creator/{{Jim Cummings|VoiceActor}} was always Burnett's choice for the character's voice due to his high VO profile and his New Orleans roots.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: [[spoiler:Skrawl sadly waving goodbye to the [=ChalkZone=] gang as they leave in "Let's Go Wandering"?]] Why, that isn't EndOfSeriesAwareness at all.
* PetTheDog: [[spoiler:Surprisingly enough, a FreezeFrameBonus near the end of the music video "Let's Go Wandering" has him waving goodbye to the [=ChalkZone=] gang, rather than attacking them like he usually does. His sad face is what sells it.]]
* SpellMyNameWithAThe: For some reason, his debut episode is titled "The Skrawl".
* SupervillainLair: A castle on top of a giant cactus.
* UngratefulBastard: Even after Rudy tried to fix his appearance in his debut episode, he decided to drop everyone to their doom anyway.
* VileVillainSaccharineShow: Episodes featuring him tend to be a lot more serious.
* VillainDecay: Compare his meatball scheme in "Calling Dr. Memory" to his very first appearance in "The Skrawl", where he essentially tried to ''mass murder'' a bunch of people.
** On the other hand, considering the fact that memories are highly malleable and changeable, and the fact that the scheme was shown from Snap's memory rather than a present event, there's a chance that this was simply a case of UnreliableNarrator.
* VillainSong: Some of his episodes have him sing "Skrawl's Song", first singing it in his debut episode "The Skrawl" to introduce himself and explain why he resents Rudy and having reprises in "Chalk Queen" and "Double Trouble", respectively being a VillainRecruitmentSong to bring Penny to his side in his latest scheme against Rudy and a duet with Craniac 4 where they gloat about how they intend to use their robot double of Rudy to destroy all the magic chalk and then enslave the real Rudy.
* VocalEvolution: His voice sounds more like WesternAnimation/{{Pete}} in the episodes after his debut, whereas he sounded more like [[WesternAnimation/CatDog Cat]] in his debut episode.
* WeCanRuleTogether: "With your talent, and my ambitions, we can rule [=ChalkZone=] as king and queen!"
* WouldHurtAChild: No duh.

!! Skrawl's Brain

->Voiced by: Lori Alan

* BrainInAJar: Less a jar, but she's nothing but a brain in some housing with said housing holding her facial features. Obtaining a real body is her major goal.
* GiantWoman: She is after all a giant brain, it only makes sense she would need a gigantic body to contain it. When Rudy drew her a body, it was suitably gigantic.
* TheStarscream: She started out as Skrawl's henchwoman, but she turns on Skrawl and becomes a bigger threat to deal with. Rudy even needed Skrawl's help to take care of her, much to Skrawl's displeasure.

!! The Craniacs
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ee55d05a_3206_4e46_a8e2_c6a36402ab91.png]]

->Voiced by: Creator/RobPaulsen (Craniac 3, Craniac 4 in Double Trouble, and the Craniac who makes a cameo in Mine Alone), Robert Cait (Craniac 4 in Future Zone)

A race of futuristic robots obsessed with collecting futuristic devices. This includes Rudy's "instant matter materializer", A.K.A. his Magic Chalk.
----
* BigBadEnsemble: With Skrawl. Despite not appearing as often as him, they do share a sinister presence.
* CryoPrison: Craniacs 1, 2, and 3 are all frozen solid when they are deemed "outdated".
* ColdBloodedTorture: Craniac 3 puts Rudy through this to try to get information from him.
* CreateYourOwnVillain: Craniac 4 was created to take care of Craniac 3. He did... but it didn't help.
* EarlyBirdCameo: Before Craniac 3's introduction in Future Zone, he made a couple appearances in Snapmobile. And no, he wasn't very nice in that episode either.
* EnemyMine: Implied in Purple Haze, where a FreezeFrameBonus shows a Craniac just sitting in his UFO, not attacking the good guys, and actually looking concerned about the titular haze.
* EvilLaugh: They have a rather monotonous one. You know, being robots and all. More oomph was put into it in their [[TheCameo cameo]] in Snap's ImagineSpot in Mine Alone, ironically enough.
* {{Expy}}: Of ComicBook/{{Brainiac}} and ComicBook/{{Ultron}}.
* InsistentTerminology: Craniac 3 insists on calling Rudy's Magic Chalk an "instant matter materializer". Same goes for Craniac 4 in Future Zone, but in Double Trouble he just calls it "chalk", dropping this trope.
* VillainTeamUp: Craniac 4 teams up with Skrawl in Double Trouble.

!! Queen Rapsheeba
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/47844206_e388_4e72_ab99_90c6a78c122b.png]]

->Voiced by: Creator/RosslynnTaylor

* AmbiguouslyBrown: If the NoCelebritiesWereHarmed is correct, she may be black.
* NoCelebritiesWereHarmed: Possibly a reference to Music/QueenLatifah.
* PunnyName: Her name is a pun on the [[Literature/TheBible Biblical]] figure, the Queen of Sheba.
** With a side of another Biblical figure, Bathsheba.

!! Blocky
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/c79d173d_f300_4298_9021_f7c33df9276f.jpeg]]

->Voiced by: Robert Cait (''WesternAnimation/OhYeahCartoons'' shorts, season two and onward), Creator/CandiMilo (season one)

The first drawing by Rudy that became an inhabitant of [=ChalkZone=].
----
* AmbiguouslyRelated: While Snap and Blocky can be seen acting somewhat like siblings, they have no canonical familial relationship, shown when Snap says he doesn't have any known family members in the episode "Family Von Snap".
* AnnoyingYoungerSibling: Inverted. Since Rudy drew him before he created Snap, he is technically Snap's older brother figure, but he is clearly shown to be more childlike and naive and his antics sometimes get on Snap's nerves.
* {{Cephalothorax}}: He's a square with arms and legs as well as a face.
* TheDitz: He is not very bright.
* KindheartedSimpleton: He's stupid, but so so sweet. He's endlessly cheerful and helpful but really, really dumb.
* PaperPeople: In the episode "The Further Adventures of Super Hero Snap", Blocky is shown to be completely 2-D all the time, and this is used as a plot device.
* SimpletonVoice: He has a goofy voice indicating his idiocy.

!! Bi-Clops
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/53a94147_2ee9_4ed7_a924_316f6b90d7ae.png]]

->Voiced by: Creator/RodgerBumpass

* TheBigGuy: He is huge and very strong.
* {{Cyclops}}: He used to be a one-eyed giant named "Cyclops" before Rudy gave him another eye.
* GentleGiant: He towers above Rudy and friends, but he's always happy to see them.
* HeelFaceTurn: In his first appearance in a Oh Yeah! Cartoons short, he's an antagonist who tries to thwart Rudy and Snap's attempt to acquire more Magic Chalk. After Rudy defeats him and gives him a second eye, he warms up to him and becomes an ally who makes it clear that he'll allow Rudy to have as much magic chalk as he wants.
* ManInAKilt: He wears a kilt. Justified because he was originally drawn by a Scottish child.
* MentorArchetype: He informs Rudy about his responsibility with the Magic Chalk.
* MeaningfulRename: He used to be named Cyclops, (or Cy for short), but after Rudy gave him a second eye, the name was no longer accurate, and was changed to Bi-clops.
* OnlySaneMan: The most level-headed denizen of [=ChalkZone=].
* OurGiantsAreBigger: A large cone-shaped being with white skin and his eyes are stacked on each other.

!! King Mumbo Jumbo
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/king_mumbo_jumbo.jpg]]

->Voiced by: Creator/CoreyBurton

The long-lost king of [=ChalkZone=], who only appeared in the two-part episode "The Big Blow Up".
----
* BigGood: He is the king of [=ChalkZone=] and does everything he can to help his people out.
* TheGoodKing: If [[spoiler: willingly sealing himself with the Inflatermaus swarm for 300 years and helping Rudy reseal them after they break free]] doesn't prove he's a benevolent ruler, then nothing does.
* HeroicSacrifice: Both the lethal and non-lethal variants are subverted. When his tortoise shell is found in the same temple that the Inflatermaus swarm was sealed in, it was initially assumed that King Mumbo Jumbo died after sealing himself within the temple to keep the swarm from spreading across [=ChalkZone=]. [[spoiler: It turns out that he was hiding in his shell for 300 years until he could pass his flute on to someone else, and when King Mumbo Jumbo resumes playing the flute to keep the swarm from harming Rudy, Rudy draws a glass wall in front of the Inflatermaus swarm so that the king no longer has to stick around to protect his people from the Inflatermaus swarm.]]
* HeterosexualLifePartners: He and Barney got along pretty well.
* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: He let himself get sealed in a temple along with the Inflatermaus swarm for 300 years.
* RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething: He selflessly trapped himself in a temple to keep the Inflatermaus swarm from harming anyone and helps Rudy Tabootie deal with the Inflatermaus swarm before he traps them behind a glass wall.
* SealedEvilInADuel: He and the Inflatermaus swarm were trapped inside a temple for 300 years until Rudy mistakenly let the Inflatermaus swarm escape and subsequently found King Mumbo Jumbo [[spoiler:alive and well]].

!! Barney the Encyclocentipedia
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/194d3ee8_5916_4062_9f29_47b70eaa86bf.jpeg]]

->Voiced by: Creator/MalcolmMcDowell

One of [=ChalkZone=]'s oldest residents, Rudy, Penny, and Snap needed his help to cure the epidemic of Balloonemia in "The Big Blow Up".
----
* AFateWorseThanDeath: When Barney detaches his parts in self defense against a praying mantis, he is reduced to a babbling moron, unable to think clearly enough to defend himself. If it weren't for Rudy, Penny, and Snap being present to help him, he would have stayed like that forever, if one of the predatory Zoners living in the area didn't eventually get him.
* HatesBeingTouched: When Rudy attempts to look up information, Barney is shown to be quite sensitive to being poked and prodded like that. This could contribute to why he prefers being alone.
* TheHermit: He lives alone in a dangerous forest and prefers it that way.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: He and King Mumbo Jumbo were the best of friends. [[spoiler: He is even overjoyed to see that he is still alive.]]
* IntelligenceEqualsIsolation: Because he's a living encyclopedia, he has information on virtually everything in [=ChalkZone=], but he prefers to be left alone because he's been annoyed by how often people turn to him for help.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: While not sociable, he does help Rudy and his friends put an end to the spreading of Balloonemia and also had a close friendship with King Mumbo Jumbo, even crying when his [[spoiler: assumed]] death was brought up.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: He was the one who helped King Mumbo Jumbo seal himself away with the Inflatermaus swarm for 300 years. When it was believed that King Mumbo Jumbo died in the interim, Barney actually blames himself for his close friend's supposed death. [[spoiler:Fortunately, it turns out that the king only went into hibernation until a chalk-wielder could help him.]]
* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: He has existed for at least 300 years.

!! Generic Man
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/0c8826bb_ee2c_426c_b024_811167ee4115.png]]

->Voiced by: David Herman

[=ChalkZone=]'s superhero.
----
* BroughtToYouByTheLetterS: He has a G on his chest.
* TheCape: He's the standard superhero with good intentions who's always out to right every wrong he must face.
* {{Expy}}: Is very obviously based on Franchise/{{Superman}}.
* FlyingBrick: He's a powerhouse capable of flight.

!! Major Brand

->Voiced by: Creator/MasasaMoyo

A supervillain who frequently clashes with Generic Man.
----
* KickTheDog: Her second appearance has her make a giant baby cry by stealing his pacifier, an action that clearly serves no purpose other than to show how spiteful and cruel she's willing to be.
* OhCrap: She completely freaks out when she realizes that her powers do nothing against Snap.
* PowerNullifier: Her sponge vision disables other people's super powers.
* PunnyName: Her name is a play on the term "major brand" and the fact that she's a military-themed villain.
* VillainousGlutton: She doesn't look the part, but her second appearance does have her show considerable glee in stealing all the pies from the Stick Figure Bakery.

!! Falling Rock

->Voiced by: Gregg Rainwater

A walking pile of stone who accompanied Major Brand in her second appearance.
----
* LivingStatue: He is made of stone after all.

!! [=BooRat=]

->Voiced by: Creator/RobPaulsen and Creator/GreyDeLisle (speaking in unison)

A chalk drawing of a rat with a poofy hairdo created by Vinnie Raton and Terry Bouffant in an attempt to get Rudy's Magic Chalk.
----
* AmbiguousGender: It is difficult to tell whether [=BooRat=] is male or female.
* AndIMustScream: Ends up immobilized after Snap sprays them with a fixative.
* EvilRedhead: Shares Terry's red hair as well as her nasty disposition.
* VoiceOfTheLegion: They are voiced by two voice actors speaking simultaneously.
* YouDirtyRat: Is an anthropomorphic rat and evil.

!! Bathtub Granny

->Voiced by: Creator/ElizabethDaily (original pilot), Miriam Flynn (remainder of series)

One of Rudy's oldest chalk drawings. As her name suggests, she's an old woman who spends most of her time in the bathtub.
----
* BarbieDollAnatomy: Whenever her torso is at a level where it isn't obscured by the bathwater, she is clearly shown to be flat-chested and nipple-less.
* DeadpanSnarker: Frequently makes cutting remarks about Rudy and friends unintentionally inconveniencing her, and is especially irritated that she's in her bathtub all the time because of how Rudy drew her.
* ModestyTowel: She tends to wrap herself in a towel whenever she has to leave her bathtub.
* NakedPeopleAreFunny: The main joke about her is that since she's constantly taking a bath, she's always naked.

!! Zibble and Blotz

->Voiced by: Maria Bamford (Zibble), Roger Rose (Blotz)

Chalk drawings of a boy and a girl drawn by Mr. Wilter when he was a kid.
----
* OurGhostsAreDifferent: They were smudges, a kind of Zoner created when a chalk drawing isn't completely erased. They become whole after Rudy and Penny finish erasing the rest of them on the other side of Mr. Wilter's bedroom wall.

!! The Doofi

->Voiced by: Creator/ElizabethDaily (Doofus Rudy), Creator/HyndenWalch (Doofus Penny)

Unflattering caricatures of Rudy and Penny that Reggie Bullnerd drew on the chalkboard who came to life in [=ChalkZone=] after Mr. Wilter erased them.
----
* TheDitz: True to their designation as "Doofi", they are both idiots.
* {{Gonk}}: They look uglier than their real counterparts because of their exaggerated facial features.
* OddballDoppelganger: They're essentially bizarre copies of the real Rudy and Penny.

!! Jack-O

->Voiced by: Creator/TimCurry

A singing skeleton with a pumpkin for a head who appeared in two episodes, on both occasions being angry at Rudy because he thought he stole his bride.
----
* AffablyEvil: Rudy's long-defucnt journal on Nickelodeon's website states that he's very mean, but also very romantic, and legitimately wants to make his marriage with "jill-o-lantern" a perfect one. Even Rudy admitted in said journal that he can't help but find that sweet, in a warped way.
* CaptainErsatz: A pretty blatant one of [[WesternAnimation/TheNightmareBeforeChristmas Jack Skellington]]. A skeleton who has a pumpkin head, is a bit of the romantic type, and often sings musical numbers, which all match up with Jack's characteristics, down to having "Jack" in his name.
* DemBones: His body is a skeleton.
* DisproportionateRetribution: In his first appearance, he tried to kill Rudy for stealing the woman he loved (it was actually a jill-o-lantern that Rudy made for his school's jack-o-lantern contest). In his second appearance, he threatens to bury Rudy alive unless he draws a new bride even though his drawing arm is broken and he swore to never use his Magic Chalk to draw a living thing unless in the most dire of circumstances.
* FourthDateMarriage: The minute he sees Rudy's "jill-o-lantern" was the minute he wanted to get married.
* LeanAndMean: He is tall, skinny, and not on friendly terms with Rudy.
* PumpkinPerson: He has a jack-o-lantern for a head.
* VillainLoveSong: "I Wanna Bury You With My Love".
* VocalEvolution: Tim Curry voices the character in both of his appearances, but he has a more subdued voice in his debut, while his second appearance has him sound more like [[WesternAnimation/TheWildThornberrys Nigel Thornberry]].

!! Stinky Witch

->Voiced by: Creator/SusanSilo

A witch who likes to cause trouble.
----
* EvilRedhead: She has red hair and is always up for wreaking havoc for no reason.
* GagNose: She has a rather bulbous nose.
* GoKartingWithBowser: Despite being troublesome to the Zoners in other episodes, in Insect Aside, Stinky witch uses a spell to help Snap and Rapsheeba.
* WickedWitch: A witch who frequently harasses and inconveniences other Zoners.

!! Quicksand Man

->Voiced by: Creator/JonathanPryce

A shadowy figure who uses enchanted quicksand to imprison his victims in a nightmare world.
----
* KilledOffForReal: When defeated, he crumbles into sand that's put in an hourglass and Biclops mentions that the Quicksand Man was destroyed, so he's clearly gone for good.
* NoOntologicalInertia: After he was defeated, all of his victims were freed from his nightmare world.
* RhymesOnADime: He speaks in rhymes.
* WeaksauceWeakness: While all Zoners can't bear to hear the sound of scratching against chalkboards, he is especially susceptible to it, and it's what leads to his defeat.

!! Gore

->Voiced by: Creator/PeterMacNicol

The Vampire Cannibal King from Rudy's Vampire Cannibals comic, who appeared in [=ChalkZone=] after Joe Sideburn drew him and his father Fred Sideburn erased him.
----
* TheDreaded: Even other vampire cannibals fear him.
* NinjaPirateZombieRobot: He's both a vampire and a cannibal.
* OurVampiresAreDifferent: Being a [[NinjaPirateZombieRobot vampire cannibal]], he attempts to eat people whole rather than bite their necks and feed on their blood. When Rudy tried to convince him to spare him and Snap by claiming that he's supposed to eat other vampires, Gore only pointed out that [[AmbiguousSyntax it was never made clear]].
* VileVillainSaccharineShow: Hard to believe that such a lighthearted children's cartoon would have a villain who has no qualms with devouring children.

!! Push

->Voiced by: Creator/JessHarnell

A sentient recycling bin who is very eccentric.
----
* CollectorOfTheStrange: He collects assignments that Mr. Wilter erased from the chalkboard.
* SignatureMove: He can throw up a bunch of marbles and cause people to trip on them: which he refers to as his "signature move".
* TheUnintelligible: He speaks in "trash talk", which is mostly complete gibberish.

!! Butch Biceps

->Voiced by: Creator/JessHarnell

A biker dude with a nasty demeanor.
----
* AlliterativeName: His first and last names both start with B.
* DumbMuscle: He's tough as nails, but really stupid.
* FallingIntoJail: His debut in "Rudy's Date" ends with him being flung into prison after Penny reclaims her formula for perpetual motion.

!! Vincent Van [=NoGo=]

->Voiced by: Creator/MauriceLaMarche

A chalk caricature of Vincent Van Gogh who is very irascible and is often set off by perceived criticism of his work.
----
* CantTakeCriticism: Saying that there's even a tiny problem with his work will cause him to literally explode with rage.
* HairTriggerTemper: It is so easy for him to get angry.
* UngratefulBastard: Instead of showing gratitude toward Rudy for getting his ear back, he instead yells at him because the woman who held his ear hostage liked Rudy's drawing of her dog better than the painting he made of her dog.

!! Yadda Yadda Yeti

->Voiced by: Creator/KathSoucie

A large yellow yeti initially feared, but later revealed to be misunderstood.
----
* AlliterativeName: Every word in her designation starts with Y.
* BabyTalk: Her first appearance had her use infantile terms, like referring to her toes as "toesie-woesies". She drops this in "Journey to the Center of the Yeti".
* BerserkButton: Spy Fly learned the hard way that it was a bad idea to wake her up from hibernation.
* BigfootSasquatchAndYeti: She is a yeti.
* TheDreaded: Before she was revealed to actually be nice, everyone in [=ChalkZone=] was afraid of her.
* HulkSpeak: Initially. Her second appearance made her more articulate.
* RampageFromANail: In her first appearance, her intimidating and fierce demeanor were revealed to be from having a pickle dog stuck between her toes.
