A highly telling scene is towards the beginning when Norbit tries to leave her for cruelly running over his dog - Rasputia isn't even furious or ranting at him, but she's utterly distraught and begging him to not go and lies that she's pregnant. It very much appears that Rasputia actually has poor self-image and boosts it by constantly abusing and controlling Norbit.
