Changelings can metabolize anything organic and are forced to on their homeworld, but Ocellus doesn't like the taste of meat and has to mix various emotional tastes with sticks, twigs, and dead leaves to find them palatable. This emphatically does ''not'' apply to love, however. She'll eat all the love, in any form, she can get her tongue on. She still [[spoiler:contemplates eating Rarity's cat Opalescence, but more out of revenge for being scratched by her. But, pets are not to be eaten.]]
49	* ThePowerOfHate: [[spoiler:How she's defeated in ''The 'Ling from Another World'', the foals focusing all their fear, anger, and hate at her. She reacts to negative emotions like they taste bad, including retching and heaving, and hate itself is actively poisonous to her and nearly killed her. However, WordOfGod is that this probably wouldn't work on a changeling that wasn't starving and more able to control the emotions it was eating.]]

She has to be conscious to remain shapeshifted. When asleep, she naturally reverts to her true form. This is a problem for her, a changelings are terrible at retaining body heat... and it's winter in Equestria.

She can shapeshift, of course, and can use telekinesis like a unicorn, but...[[spoiler:Twist points out that if she was strong enough to stand up to the four foals, then she wouldn't need to be in disguise. Indeed, when the four foals finally fight Ocellus directly, they put up a pretty good fight, and have her on the defensive more often than not. Whether this is because she's starving and in no condition to fight, or if four foals really ''are'' a more than a match for a changeling drone, is up in the air.]]
52	* SuperSpit: She can spit out a variety of oozes. One is caustic and eats through metal; another can harden into a tough but pliable substance, which she uses to line her lairs, as well as to attempt to trap [[spoiler:Dinky.]]

She has ''no'' moral compunction against it, however, solely excepting where Snails is concerned or if she thinks it would hurt her relationship with him.

The sirens or Ocellus would both, under the right circumstances, happily eat the other with little regret, but as long as Ocellus can help them hunt better and Ocellus can snack on their positive emotions to garnish the taste of solid food, they’re also quite happy to get along.
69	* OurHippocampsAreDifferent: They resemble ponies from the waist forward, albeit with fins at their fetlocks and longer crests instead of manes, and with mermaid-like tails from the waist back, with long, trailing fins instead of legs, and can hypnotize others with their songs. Notably, this story came out about two years before sirens with the same overall description debuted in canon. They're carnivorous, use their hypnotic songs to lure ponies into the water to drown and eat them, and live in both fresh and saltwater.
