[[folder:Rangers in General]]
Earth's mightiest protectors that defeated the Evil Kaijin Army after just one year of fighting. The Ranger Association is led by the 5 Dragon Keepers, who each have their own squads made up of their associated ranger color.
----
* AlmightyJanitor: Pink and Green Battalions. While Pink always had the designation since they were seen as the support battalion for the rest, their primary function was the CleanUpCrew for the Rangers Association. Green on the other hand fell into this after the Executives were defeated, as Executive hunting was [[CripplingOverspecialization their primary role]].
* AmazonBrigade: Pink Battalion is comprised almost entirely of women, save for Junior First Class [[TheOneGuy Masurao]].
* ColorMotif: Given that there's 5 squads, they come in 5 colors with each specializing in a specific field: Red (combat), Blue (strategy), Yellow (information), Green (stealth), and Pink (support). There's also White for the lower ranked rangers-in-training who have yet to be assigned to one of the 5 squads.
* CultOfPersonality: Unlike the rest of the Battalions, it seems like Pink Battalion has made their Keeper into a person of worship. Many of them look up to Pink Keeper and seek her approval; and when [[spoiler:Sesera sacrifices herself to save Hibiki]], nobody was willing to move on [[spoiler:to the point where they still haven't passed on the Pink Keeper role out of loyalty to her]].
* ADayInTheLimelight: Several arcs provide focus to certain Ranger Battalions.
** The Dreamy School Life arc centers around Green Battalion investigating an illusionary school where an Invader Executive has been keeping kidnapped teenagers trapped within it.
** The Monster Zoo mini-arc centers around Green Battalion teaming up with Red Battalion to dispose of "monsters" that have appeared at a zoo.
** The Chopman arc centers around Green Battalion teaming up with Pink Battalion to investigate a dangerous being known as the "Chopman" in the city slums.
* FantasticRankSystem: The Ranger Association has its own ranking system. Given that there's 5 squads, there's one for each color from 1 to 6. Rankings from highest to lowest:
** First Class Dragon Keeper - The #1.
** Junior First Class - The #2.
** Second Class - The #3.
** Junior Second Class - The #4.
** Third Class - The #5.
** Junior Third Class - The #6.
** Colored Rangers - All other colored rangers associated with a squad.
** Colorless - Rangers that have passed the Entrance Exam, but have yet to pass the Bailong Exams in order to be assigned to one of the 5 colored squads.
** Independent - Civilians that have signed up to be rangers, but have yet to take the Entrance Exam.
* PuttingTheBandBackTogether: After [[spoiler: Angel]] to the Invaders Rights Association, Kanon being imprisoned by the IRA, and D having a LossOfIdentity. the trio finally reunite with Green Keeper to take down the Giga-Invader Death Messiah at the climax of the titular arc.
* RedshirtArmy: Red Battalion in particular falls under this as they're the most active in frontline fighting and [[spoiler: getting team killed by a pissed off Red Keeper.]]
* ReligiousAndMythologicalThemeNaming: All the Divine Tools take their names from mythological beings. The Dragon Keepers' tools are named after mythical dragons and serpents (Red's Salamander, Blue's Leviathan, Green's Fafnir, Yellow's Jormungandr, and Pink's Naga) while the Replicas take their names from Shinto deities.
* ResignInProtest: [[spoiler: Many rangers resign out of disgust after Sosei's outburst. Red Battalion in particular is hit the hardest due to abuse from their leader and the wave of disappearances, presumably referring to all the [=JFCs=] that had died to Sosei's hands and the Monsters incidents.]]
* ShadowGovernment: The [[TheMenInBlack Kuroko]]. Despite drawing from members of Pink Battalion, they actually answer to Yellow Keeper and Ryujin directly and are often tasked with the removal of problematic rangers within the organization.
* TheMenInBlack: While Green Battalion is known for doing a lot of the behind the scenes work, Pink Battalion has its own black ops unit known as the Black Suits ("Kuroko" in the original Japanese). Unlike the Greens, however, their primary function is assassinating problematic humans (particularly dissenting Rangers) opposed to eliminating Executives.
* UndyingLoyalty: A prominent trait of Pink Battalion. Even after falling comatose and constantly on the brink of death, none of the Pink Battalion rangers have any desire to usurp or replace Sesera.
* UnreplacedDeparted: While she isn't dead, no one in Pink Battalion has succeeded Sesera as Pink Keeper despite her being in a coma for the better part of two years. Ryujin claims they're simply lazy though Kanon counters it and claims they're just loyal to Sesera.

The Junior First Class ranger of the Red Battalion. A young man who looks up to Sosei Akabane, the First Class Red Keeper, ever since he was a young boy.
----
* AmbitionIsEvil: He wants to be the next Red Keeper, and is willing [[spoiler:to sabotage his own leader for the chance]].
* TheApprentice: A flashback shows that apprentice Jin had this relationship with master Red Keeper, Sosei. [[spoiler:However, it's pretty obvious that Sosei was just acting out the master role as he instantly kills Jin off the moment Jin tries to convince Sosei to retire as Red Keeper]].
* AssholeVictim: [[spoiler:While his death largely makes Sosei look like a complete sociopath, Jin is hardly completely innocent. He helped engineer the theft of Sosei's Divine Tool in order to make Sosei step down for his failure in keeping track of it. While Yumeko is disgusted by Sosei killing Jin, she doesn't exactly have a high opinion of Jin either.]]
* DeceptiveDisciple: Jin may look up to Sosei like a hero of his childhood, but he's no saint: he wants to become the top Ranger in the organization, and won't mind getting his hands dirty to create a situation in which the idea of [[spoiler:forcing Sosei to resign from his position as Red Keeper becomes a possibility]].
* EarlyBirdCameo: Jin can be seen standing alongside Sosei as they view the ranger tryouts in chapter 2. It's easy to miss as his whole head is covered by a speech bubble. However, the anime makes it quite clear that it's Jin.
* EyesAlwaysShut: A classic example of his eyes always being shut except at certain times.
* HidingBehindYourBangs: His bangs are usually covering his right eye.
* NumberTwo: Serves as the second highest ranger in Red Battalion. [[spoiler:Jin tries to get Red Keeper to retire after the latter lost his Divine Tool in order to become the new head...it doesn't go well for him]].
* TheReveal: A very minor one is that it was revealed that Jin was the one who [[spoiler:leaked the information on where to find Red Keeper's Divine Tool]].
* SatelliteCharacter: His character pretty much exists just to show off how [[spoiler:evil Red Keeper is]].
* SmallNameBigEgo:Thinks he's a better Red Keeper candidate than Sosei, [[spoiler:and for that he conspired with Suzukiri in order to make him step down for losing his divine weapon. However, given how easily Sosei kills him without using any kind of power, it's clearly he was very overconfident.]]
* SmugSnake: He believes he's perfectly apt for the position of Red Keeper, given his confidence and insistence to make Red Keeper step down from his role due to losing his Divine Weapon. [[spoiler:Red quickly shuts down any delusions of grandeur he had when he murders him in cold blood using only his fists.]]
* TheStarscream: He tries to be this attempting to convince Sosei to step down as Red Keeper so that Jin can take the role. [[spoiler:The result is Jin dying moments after]].
* WeHardlyKnewYe: [[spoiler:Sosei kills him soon after he suggests that the Red Keeper should step down due to losing his Divine Tool, to set up that Sosei is even more of a sociopath than previously believed.]]

One of the two Red Battalion candidates amongst Hibiki's Colorless cadet group. Intending to make ranks in honor of his deceased older brother, Kai's a hotheaded youth who constantly butts heads with D. Kai's overall goal as a ranger is to find and kill the Invader who murdered his brother.
\
Following the Bailong Exams, Kai gets appointed to Red Battalion even though he wasn't an exam graduate as he was able to impress the higher-ups in the Bailong Nest fight against Executive Peltrola.
----
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Due to being a weak child at the time, he couldn't do a thing as he was ForcedToWatch [[spoiler:Executive Peltrola kill his brother]] four years before the present day.
* {{Determinator}}: He's one of the most determined to become a true Ranger in order to [[spoiler:kill the Invader that killed his brother]] that Kai will stop at nothing to prove that he's a worthy candidate.
* DistinctiveAppearances: He's one of the few [[AmbiguouslyBrown dark-skinned characters]] that makes it incredibly easy to single him out amongst the cast.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: He angrily shoves D out of the way when they first meet up in Bailong's Nest, which establishes right away that Kai and D are going to be at odds with one another throughout the Colorless exams.
* FamilyThemeNaming: His older brother is named Riku, to go along with the Land, Sky, and Sea theme naming.
* {{Foil}}: To D when they were Red Battalion candidates in the Bailong Exam. Kai is more about finding the enemy quickly and battle them out in the open while D would rather wait in hiding and ambush the opponent, which causes them to butt heads. It's no surprise that the two of them [[spoiler:ended up on different Battalions afterwards since D's way of fighting is more appropriate for Green Battalion's stealth methods while Kai's way of fighting is exactly what Red Battalion wants]].
* ForcedToWatch: In the past, all he could do was stand by and watch as [[spoiler:Executive Peltrola killed his brother]].
* {{Foreshadowing}}: When D and XX are discussing who to watch out for amongst their ranger cadet group in chapter 17, they go over how Kai, Eigen, Angelica, Sojiro and Renren are the ones to watch out for. Part way through the Bailong Exams, it turns out that they've agreed to become the 5-man "strong" team that D and the other rejected cadets have to face off against.
* GoalInLife: After [[spoiler:Executive Peltrola killed his brother]], it became Kai's goal to become a Ranger in order to kill said Invader out of revenge.
* HeroesPreferSwords: Compared to many of the Rangers, Kai relies a lot on fighting with his Dragon Gadget's Sword Form.
* IWorkAlone: Refuses to cooperate with D in the early stages of the Bailong Exams as Kai is arrogant enough to believe that he can take on Rangers alone.
* {{Jerkass}}: He acts like quite the jerk during his time at Bailong's Nest. Especially towards D.
* LeeroyJenkins: He tends to want to instantly get into a battle with whatever he comes across without thought. In chapter 18 for example, Kai instantly charges and attacks Red Battalion's Shun Tokita the moment he appears as an opponent during the Bailong Exams. D is left surprised that Kai chose to just rush in without thought.
* LoyalToThePosition: Despite the [[spoiler: mass resignation of Red Rangers]], Kai is more than willing to keep fighting the Invaders.
* MeaningfulName: Kai's name can also mean "sea," which plays with his brother Riku's name meaning "land." They're the land and sea of the Shion family.
* OhCrap: Has this reaction in chapter 18 when Yumeko acting as the Invader goes after him and D. Even Kai knows that someone as strong as Yumeko is not to be messed with.
* PunchedAcrossTheRoom: In chapter 21, Kai managed to land a punch so strong on the left side of Shun's face that it sent the latter flying backward into the side of a vehicle.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: He clearly wasn't impressed by D's first day of training at the Bailong's Nest, breaking out into a speech criticizing everything that D did wrong, and saying that the latter's heart must not be in wanting to become a ranger, and he should be shown the door.
* {{Revenge}}: He's out for revenge against the Invaders, Executive Peltrola especially, for the death of his older brother.
* TheRival: He serves as D's main rival during the Bailong exams. Especially once it turns out that they've both been established as the two Red Battalion candidates, and only one of them is allowed to pass.
* RivalsTeamUp: During the Bailong Exams, Kai's forced to team up with D due to the two of them being put into a team as the two Red Battalion candidates. However, this breaks apart once it becomes clear that only one candidate is allowed to pass, and the candidates end up forming 5-on-5 "strong" vs. "weak" teams.
* SoWhatDoWeDoNow: In chapter 23, Kai admits to D that he doesn't know what to do with his life once his {{Revenge}} against Peltrola is complete as ever since his brother died, he's spent his entire life the past four years training up as a ranger just to kill said Invader Executive.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: His older brother looks very similar to him design-wise. Just with a different hair-style.
* TheTeam: During the Bailong Exams, Kai gets recruited into Sojiro's "strong team" alongside Eigen, Angelica, and Renren to face off against D's "weak team."
* WhatTheHellHero: He did not appreciate it at all when "Hibiki" gave him a dirty push from behind to be the one to take on Yumeko during the Bailong Exams.

[[caption-width-right:260:"Knowing our lives are gonna end. That's what makes us strong."]]

The Third Class ranger of the Red Battalion. Flashy and overconfident, serves within the Red Battalion that specializes in combat against the Kaijins. He views them as inferior creatures that deserve to be eliminated, toying with them in battle, much like his fellow red rangers.
----
* AnimalMotifs: D begins associating him with pandas thanks to the markings over his eyes. They appear black in the manga, but are red in the anime.
* ArrogantKungFuGuy: He believes whole-heartedly that the Invader footsoldiers are beneath him, and enjoys whenever he gets the chance to pummel them to oblivion.
* BadassBoast: Departing after his introduction, Shun says one last thing to "Hibiki" (D in disguise).
-->''Red Battalion's where it's at! We're villain subjugation specialists! Giving villains beatdowns is what being a rangers all about. Well? Even a colorless grunt like you's got to agree right?''
* BoomHeadshot: Shun's somewhat of a good shot as he's seen hitting D multiple times in the head with a ranger pistol in chapter 4. He manages to hit D in the head again in chapter 19.
* BringIt: As a trainer for the Bailong Exams, he's clearly enjoying his time taunting and beating up on the Colorless cadets, and orders them to come at him whenever he can.
* TheBully: As an introduction, Shun tries to bully the colorless ranger, "Hibiki" (D in disguise), into handing over the letter meant for the Red Keeper, but is stopped by Yumeko.
** It's also heavily implied that he's always been this to Hibiki. While fighting "Hibiki" during the Bailong Exams, Shun compares it to how they often "played" together over the years since their days at the orphanage.
* CoolMask: Shun wears a threatening-looking one for his role in the Bailong Exams due to his body still being covered in medical bandages from when D beat him up during the infiltration to steal away Red Keeper's Divine Tool.
* DelinquentHair: His hair-style is a multi-color mohawk that droops right.
* {{Determinator}}: Despite being repeatedly beaten throughout the series, Shun is ridiculously stubborn and refuses to stay down. Even when [[spoiler: Magatia-Juji]] crushed him with spike balls and then impaled him when he got back up, he still kept standing for Funga to grab hold of [[spoiler: Magatia-Juji]]'s leg so Shun could get a stab in.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: His attempt to bully "Hibiki" (D in disguise), when the real Hibiki is a lesser colorless ranger, paints quite the picture of the type of person Shun is as someone who looks down on those lesser ranked than him.
* EvilLaugh: Gloats over D after roughing the latter up a bit during their chapter 4 fight.
* HumiliationConga: His early loss to D not only left him in a rough shape, but he had to suffer humiliation from people talking trash about him for said failure while he was healing up in the hospital. Even in the Bailong Exams, people, such as D, aren't taking him all that seriously as he wants people to.
* HyperAwareness: Shown to be observant of his surroundings. He catches on in chapter 2 that "Hibiki" (D in disguise) isn't acting like he usually does during their run-in at the Red Batallion Garrison, but is unable to investigate further due to Yumeko coming to Hibiki (D's) rescue. He also catches on that D was disgusing as "Sosei" in chapter 4 just by noting that the latter's smell was off.
* {{Jerkass}}: Definitely comes off as such being an ArrogantKungFuGuy who seems to enjoy beating up weak Footsoldiers. It's also heavily implied that he's been Hibiki's [[TheBully bully]] over the years.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Though he comes off as arrogant and difficult to approach, he became a ranger to fight the Invaders as payback for all those who were made orphans during the war. Even when [[spoiler: the Ranger Association was on the decline in terms of public grace and wealth, Shun stayed LoyalToThePosition even if it meant he was the last Ranger left.]]
* KarmicInjury: His loss to D in chapter 4 was due to his [[MortalityPhobia fear of death]] to a possible dynamite explosion overtaking him after gloating beforehand that it's said fear that makes humanity strong compared to the immortal footsoldiers.
* LongRangeFighter: Shown using the ranger pistol to battle at long range.
* LoyalToThePosition: In light of [[spoiler: the mass resignation of Red Rangers]], Shun states he's staying on board even if he's the last one left.
* NoHoldsBarredBeatdown: Showing how much better he is compared to cadets-in-training in the Bailong Exams, Shun really dishes this out on Kai in chapter 19 to a point that the latter was left a bloody mess. Though Kai was able to get up to try to keep fighting.
* TheNoseKnows: He caught on to D disguising as "Sosei Akabane" in chapter 4 because something was off about how "Sosei" smelled.
* OhCrap: Has this reaction when D suddenly pulls out some dynamite during their chapter 4 fight. Happens again moments after where just before D proceeds to knock him out with a golf club, Shun realizes at the last second that the dynamite threat was a fakeout for the golf club wack.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: He tends to dish these out on people he views weaker than him.
** During his fight with D in chapter 4, he calls out D as someone who will always be weak due to his immortality making it seem like everything will be fine. That humanity will always have room to grow due to the [[MortalityPhobia fear of death]] one day taking them.
** In chapter 20, Shun's so disappointed in "Hibiki's" efforts during the Bailong Exams that he calls "Hibiki" out as a nobody who's all talk and no action to back it up. And that he's just gone and dug his own grave despite his constant attempts at helping his fellow Colorless cadets.
* TheReveal: Due to a [[CharacterDeath certain incident]] that happened to Red Battalion's Junior First Class, Shun's revealed in the Bailong Exams to be the Red Ranger opponent fill-in for D's Colorless cadet group.
* StarterVillain: He's the first real opponent that D has to go up against during his whole overall infiltration operation in order to get away with Red Keeper's Divine Tool in chapter 4.
* TookALevelInBadass: In his first fight with D, Shun lost the fight because he closed his eyes during a crucial moment out of fear of being hit. He learned his lesson to keep his eyes open during battle by the time he and D faced against one another again during the Bailong Exams.
* TribalFacePaint: The one really noteworthy aspect of Shun's character design is his panda-like facepaint.
* UndyingLoyalty: [[spoiler:He's one of the few members to remain completely loyal to the organization after the Dragon Keepers' true colors are exposed to the populace, claiming that he will stay even if he's the only ranger left]].
* WhatTheHellHero:
** In chapter 2, Yumeko calls Shun out for bullying "Hibiki" (D in diguise) as such actions of a senior bullying a junior is not a good look.
** In chapter 3, Footsoldier F calls him out for gathering up a ranger lynch mob just to deal with one smallfry Invader.
* YouMakeMeSick: Says this to D during their fight in chapter 4 as he's disgusted that the Footsoldiers can just return to try to win time and time again being shot in the head compared to humans.

The acting Junior First Class ranger of Red Battalion.
----
* NervousWreck: Likely due in part to knowing what became of the previous Junior First Class, the few panels he's featured in has him visibly sweating whenever acknowledged by Red Keeper. [[spoiler: It later results in his death after rushing to bring back Red's tea causes him to trip and spill it all over Red.]]
* WeHardlyKnewYe:[[spoiler: Much like his predecessor, violently killed in front of the other Keepers the same chapter he's introduced.]]

* WeHardlyKnewYe:[[spoiler: Much like the other acting Junior First Class rangers, he dies in the same chapter he's introduced. This time, however, he does not get the title card introducing his name that his predecessors had and it's suggested Hwalipon had dispatched him previously to use his corpse as a disguise.]]

!!Yamato Beni

Second class ranger of Red Battalion.
----
* AnArmAndALeg: Loses his left leg when battling the monsters at the zoo.
* BadassesWearBandanas: National Kendo champion at 17 and fought to the death against the monsters at the Zoo despite his squad being wiped.
* BloodKnight: Kanon joked not to make eye-contact with him as it would start a fight, though in a flashback during his Kendo days he demands to fight a stronger opponent.
* WeHardlyKnewYe: Lasted a bit longer than other Red rangers that fell in this trope, as he was killed the chapter after he was introduced.

One of the two Pink Battalion candidates amongst Hibiki's Colorless cadet group who comes off as a NiceGirl of good intuition, and is really athletic. Renren ends up failing the Bailing Exams due to losing her duel against Tsukasa.
\
Although she was originally a Pink Battalion candidate, she ended up being recruited by Red Battalion after they were impressed with her combat abilities during the defense of Milky Way City against the Giga-Invader Death Messiah.
----
* ActionGirl: She's quite the gymnast when it comes to how Renren moves around the battlefield.
* TheBusCameBack: Renren reappears along with Yamato and Shippo after the three of them disappeared for about 60 chapters following the Bailong Exams. The three of them finally reappear during the Three-Way Battle arc as back-up for the Rangers against the Invaders and IRA.
* CombatParkour: Since Renren seems to be quite adapt at gymnastics, her battle style is based around this, which allows for her to easily move around the battlefield.
* HyperAwareness: She appears to be someone who does well at figuring out what others are thinking, which surprises D when she guesses right that he was thinking that she comes off as a "loose and talkative person" to him when he first meets her.
* JustInTime: During the Bailong Nest training against Footsoldier holograms, she puts her gymnastics to use by getting Sojiro out of danger moments before he got caught by the holograms.
* NiceGirl: Renren comes off as a nice and fun girl that tries to get along with anyone that she can.
* TheRival: She ends up in this role with Tsukasa. As the two Pink Battalion candidates, only one is allowed to pass the Bailong Exams.
* RivalsTeamUp: During the Bailong Exams, Renren's forced to team up with Tsukasa due to the two of them being put into a team as the two Pink Battalion candidates. However, this breaks apart once it becomes clear that only one candidate is allowed to pass, and the candidates end up forming 5-on-5 "strong" vs. "weak" teams.
* SheFu: She has a knack for gymnastics, and can usually be seen applying such moves when she battles. Even adding in the perfect landing as if she's getting a 10-out-of-10 score in a gymnastics tournament.
* TheTeam: During the Bailong Exams, Renren gets recruited into Sojiro's "strong team" alongside Kai, Eigen, and Angelica, to face off against D's "weak team."

[[caption-width-right:200:"Ugh! What am I supposed to do, Big Blue? You're embarrassing me!"]]

The (Acting) Junior First Class ranger of the Blue Battalion from the Ranger Association. A young girl with a bubbly personality. She acts on what she feels like, much to the annoyance of her boss, the 1st Class Blue Keeper.
----
* BlushSticker: Her character design sports these, which adds to Aizome's youthful look.
* BreakTheCutie: She starts off as one of the more friendly personas amongst the Ranger Battalions. [[spoiler:However, the death of Blue Keeper hits her pretty hard. So much so that she TookALevelInCynic, and seeks revenge against D due to witnessing him be the one that stabbed Blue Keeper the moment he died]].
* CurbStompBattle: The Blue Battalion candidates, Eigen and Ranmaru, were no match for her when they fought on the Bailong Exam's first day. So much so that Eigen and Ranmaru were roughed up and exhausted once the first day of the exam was over while Komachi remained perfectly fine.
* ADayInTheLimelight: She gets a bit of this during the Three-Way Battle arc. Aizome has a big part of the chapter 98 Blue Battalion flashback, and she gets two chapters (107 and 108) that focus on her battling [[spoiler:D and Angel as she's out for {{Revenge}} under the belief that D killed Blue Keeper Shougo]].
* DeadlyUpgrade: [[spoiler: Consuming the Divine Tool Replica 2.0 caused her body to undergo extreme mutations in order to handle its power. Daidai mentioned only Angel would be sufficient to wield it due to her being a human-Invader hybrid so Komachi will likely succumb to the Tool's power.]]
* HugeGuyTinyGirl: In the most clear comparisons of their height, Aizome is as tall as Blue's waist.
* ItsPersonal: [[spoiler:She is ''livid'' at the sight of D in his true form, wanting revenge on him for his part in Aoshima's death.]]
* JumpedAtTheCall: When the Keepers wonder about who to make the new Blue Keeper [[spoiler:following Aoshima's death]], Komachi passionately suggests herself. Unfortunately, Akabane shoots her down immediately only because he feels she's too short for their battle formations.
* KickTheDog: The victim of a one-two punch from Suzukiri and Akabane. The former laughs about [[spoiler:Aoshima]]'s death and mockingly tells Aizome (who was very close to him) that she even forgot he died. She then gets briefly comforted by Akabane, but when he asks about the position of [[spoiler:Blue Keeper]] and Aizome asks to step up, he cruelly calls her a midget and rejects her outright.
* MoralityPet: She's this to the Blue Keeper as the one that keeps him in line whenever the Blue Keeper's having one of his rage fits.
* TheNicknamer: "Big Blue" to Blue Keeper, "Suzy" to Yumeko (Suzukiri-chan in the original japanese).
* NumberTwo: While she's not technically the second highest member of Blue Battalion, she's usually the one seen with Blue Keeper due to being the one that [[MoralityPet keeps him in line]].
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: To her boss, Blue Keeper, when he starts acting out of line and embarrassing her in front of her colleagues.
* {{Revenge}}: Seeks this against [[spoiler:D after witnessing him stab Blue Keeper Shougo the moment the latter died, which led Aizome to believe that D killed him]].
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: After encountering D without his disguise, Komachi immediately recognized him as the Invader in the Bailong exams [[spoiler: that killed Blue Keeper Shougo]]. She immediately chased after D when he had fallen into the IRA's sublab, smashing through walls and glass tanks to kill him.
* SatelliteCharacter: For Blue Keeper as she's meant to show his more heroic side. Following [[spoiler: his death]] she only appears for the Keeper summits and has largely been PutOnABus outside of that. [[spoiler: She eventually returns in Chapter 92 still as the acting JFC for Souma now that he's succeeded Shougo, however she has a cold attitude toward him.]]
* TalkToTheFist: ...Or the head, in this instance. When Blue Keeper starts getting heated up during an argument, she interrupts him by ''headbutting him'' to snap him out of his rage.
* TookALevelInCynic: While she was introduced as the bubbly acting JFC of Blue Battalion, she's noticeably more reserved and jaded [[spoiler: follwing Shougo's death and Souma succeeding him.]]

The Third Class ranger of the Blue Battalion. Due to Footsoldier D's successful theft mission on the rangers, Shinta gets stationed at the Sky Fortress alongside fellow Blue Battalion member, Hekiru, to monitor the remaining members of the Kaijin Army.
----
* CloseRangeCombatant: Compared to his fellow rangers relying on weapons, Shinta uses his [[GoodOldFisticuffs fists]].
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: Him punching out the head of the complaining Footsoldier G (who regenerates) shortly after being assigned to watching over the Kaijin Army's Sky Fortress establishes right away that Shinta will take no shit monitoring and controlling the Footsoldiers.
* GoodOldFisticuffs: His primary means of combat is punching with his fists.
* OutOfFocus: In chapter 7, Shinta's introduced alongside Hekiru as the rangers that will be monitoring the Sky Fortress, but unlike Hekiru, he ends up not taking part in the following hunt for Footsoldier D. He [[TheBusCameBack finally reappears]] in chapter 133 when D returns to the Sky Fortress on a mission to free his fellow Footsoldiers.
* YouTalkTooMuch: Basically says this word-for-word as he punches the complaining Footsoldier G.

The Junior Third Class ranger of the Blue Battalion who comes off cowardly and anxious. Due to Footsoldier D's successful theft mission on the rangers, Hekiru gets stationed at the Sky Fortress alongside fellow Blue Battalion member, Shinta, to monitor the remaining members of the Kaijin Army. Hekiru then goes on the hunt for Footsoldier D after discovering that the latter survived the encounter with the Dragon Keepers atop the Red Garrison. He believes wholeheartedly in the [[ThePowerOfFriendship power of bonds]] and that his connections with his fellow rangers are the source of his power. Carrier of the Scythe Divine Tool Replica.

After the TimeSkip he becomes the new Junior First Class of Blue Battalion, having ousted Aizome and taking credit for the death of Hwalipon
----
* ApologisesALot: As part of his NervousWreck character, Hekiru tends to apologize a lot.
* ArcVillain: Hekiru serves as the main antagonist of the second arc where he discovers that Footsoldier D survived after stealing away Red Keeper's Divine Tool, and goes on the hunt for him. For the sake of D's survival, D and Hibiki battle it out with Hekiru in a 2-on-1 fight.
* {{Backstory}}: Gets a bit of this in chapter 9 where he complains that he hates hide-and-seek because his past friends chose to just go home when it was his turn to be "it." Given that Hekiru's not exactly the most sane person, D doesn't find it surprising at all as to why his friends ditched him.
* BadassBoast: During the hunt for D in a moment where he's fully confident, Hekiru manages to say a really noteworthy line without it suffering his usual StutterStop.
-->''I'm going to follow you. Hound you. Stick to you. I'm going to hunt you down.''
* {{Beat}}: During his battle with D in chapter 10, Hekiru's stunned silent at D trying to distract him with a little girl transformation. Even worse is that D couldn't change the height, so the little girl was D's tall normal size.
* BerserkButton: He ''really'' hates it when things aren't going his way. So much so that he will start throwing rage fits. People managing to get hits in on him also seems to piss Hekiru off.
* CombatReferee: Plays this role a bit during his fight with D.
-->''D: That weapon's cheating, man!''
-->''Hekiru: A-after reviewing the rules...I've d-decided that it's not cheating.''
* CutenessProximity: D attempts to invoke this in Hekiru by transforming into a little girl to get said ranger to stop attacking him. Unfortunately, it doesn't work, which isn't helped by the fact that D made it look really weird by not changing the little girl's height. Thus, making a tall little girl.
* DirtyCoward: He at first attempts to make a point of using his raw strength to defeat D instead of relying on the Imitation Divine Tool, but once he gets taken down in one punch by D, he goes right back to using the scythe, stating that it is ''also'' fueled by the trust he has in his teammates.
* DullEyesOfUnhappiness: Most of the time, he comes off looking depressed as if he's been through a lot.
* TheEeyore: Whenever he speaks, it's either to put himself down, complain about the jobs Blue Keeper sends him on, or complain about Blue Keeper in general. Given his isolated background, it makes sense that he wouldn't be the most positive person.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: His forest fight with D really shows off just how messed up in the head he appears to be, such as breaking out into rage fits whenever things don't go his way.
* GloryHound: Falsely took credit for slaying Hwalipon and used it as a pretense to oust Aizome from her position as Junior First Class to take it for himself.
* HarmfulToTouch: As it turns out when D tries to steal it, Hekiru's Scythe Divine Tool Replica has a safety net where it's too hot to handle due to being coated by a hot universal solvent that melts anything it touches, such as burning D's hands. Hekiru can handle the weapon because said solvent is his power. It then turns out that Hekiru can coat himself in the solvent, which makes his body harmful to touch.
* {{Hypocrite}}: He stresses ThePowerOfFriendship as the main reason why the Rangers prevail over their enemies, but he's reluctant to work with Sakurama and can't even recognize that he switched out with D. Not to mention that he was fully prepared to [[ShootTheHostage kill Hibiki]], a fellow ranger, during a HostageSituation despite always boasting about ThePowerOfFriendship.
* IllKillYou: Says to D that he will hunt D down no matter where he goes, which is basically Hekiru saying that no matter what, he's going to kill him.
* ItsAllAboutMe: While he does have some real concern about everyone looking down on him or outright ignoring him, he wants people to recognize what small amounts of greatness he believes he has.
* LongRangeFighter: He's able to fire blasts of the melting solvent from his Scythe weapon to try to hit his target at long range.
* MakingASplash: His Scythe Divine Tool Replica is coated in a really hot universal solvent (water) that can melt anything it touches. It then turns out that Hekiru can coat himself in the solvent as his body melts the stick that D tries to stab him with.
* {{Narcissist}}: He thinks of himself as being really special compared to others, which seems to make him happy that despite all his complaining, he keeps landing the "hard jobs" because he's the special one.
* NecessaryDrawback: Despite wielding a powerful Divine Tool Replica, Hekiru's time to use it is limited during a battle as he gets weaker the more he wields it. Hekiru thinks to himself that the Dragon Keepers are a bunch of monsters being able to easily handle such powerful weapons.
* NervousWreck: He's almost always shown to be nervous and sweating. So much so that it causes Hekiru to StutterStop.
* NowItsMyTurn: Says this to D during the forest hunt after D fails as the hide-and-seek "it" to kill Hekiru.
* OhCrap: Displays this expression when Blue Keeper starts to inform him that the Footsoldier D who stole away Red Keeper's Divine Tool may have survived the encounter with the Dragon Keepers atop the Red Garrison.
* ThePowerOfFriendship: Claims that the power of connections amongst his leader, comrades, juniors, and people that he must protect is what makes them all grow strong.
* RageBreakingPoint: He clearly doesn't like it when things aren't going his way, such as getting annoyed Hibiki brought him to a dead end instead of revealing Footsoldier D, or getting pissed off that D isn't dying right away during their fight.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: During the fight with D, Hekiru calls out the former a lot for not understanding the PowerOfFriendship, and for being an arrogant fighter.
* PlayingTheVictimCard: He whines and complains about how no one wants to hang out with him, such as when his friends ditched him in the past playing hide-and-seek, even though it's kind of obvious why his friends ditched him.
* SanitySlippage: He's definitely not portrayed to be the most sane person as seen where he starts throwing rage fits during his hunt for D just because D hiding in the forest reminds him of a past trauma regarding hide-and-seek.
* SettleItWithoutWeapons: In chapter 10 during his fight with D, he attempts to invoke this when D calls him out for relying on his Divine Tool Replica rather than the strength from ThePowerOfFriendship that Hekiru keeps talking about. Hekiru attempts to punch D normally rather than use his weapon only for the punch to turn out to be pathetically weak to the point that D easily punches him back.
* ShootTheHostage: As seen in chapter 10 when D tries to take Hibiki hostage in an attempt to get Hekiru to stop attacking him, Hekiru appears to be perfectly fine with just killing the hostage if it means that he can kill his target, which D finds unbelievable.
* SinisterScythe: He may not actually have the true Divine Tool, but his imitation is just as deadly as the real thing, and has the same ImmortalBreaker power.
* SmugSmiler: He tends to show this off when things are going his way during battle.
* StealingTheCredit: [[spoiler:The major reason why he shot up to Junior First Class is because he took credit for Hwalipon's defeat when Shippo was actually the one who dealt the finishing blow. With Aizome out of commission, everyone thought it would be best for someone with such an impressive feat to be second in command.]]
* StutterStop: Due to his [[NervousWreck anxiety]], Hekiru constantly has trouble speaking.
* SuddenlyShouting: When he's having one of his rage fits, Hekiru will start yelling and complaining, such as when he's getting irritated during the hunt for D that said footsoldier isn't dying to him right away.
* TaughtByExperience: Realizing that the effect of his Divine Tool Replica's melting effect is weaker the farther the target is away, Hekiru thinks to himself that it really is true that you learn a lot from partaking in real battles.
* TookALevelInJerkAss: After the TimeSkip he's no longer a NervousWreck, now arrogantly carrying himself as the slayer of Hwalipon and the new Junior First Class of Blue Battalion.
* TraumaButton: D hiding from him during the forest hunt reminds Hekiru of a painful hide-and-seek memory, which sets Hekiru off in a horrible way.
* UngratefulBastard: [[spoiler:While Hekiru was pushed off of the IRA building by Sakurama, the latter at least ensured that Pink Keeper could heal him. Still mad over being pushed, Hekiru tells the nearby Pink Keepers that Hibiki's responsible for the seeming death of Pink Keeper (which is [[FromACertainPointOfView only half true]]) and insinuates that he's an Invader in disguise.]]
* YouWillNotEvadeMe: Instead of playing along with D trying to hide in the forest, Hekiru just straight up destroys all the surround trees with his Scythe Divine Tool Replica so that there's nowhere left to hide.

[[quoteright:200:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/chara_urabe.png]]
One of the two Blue Battalion candidates amongst Hibiki's Colorless cadet group, and is friends with Ranmaru. Eigen is someone itching to fight the Invaders since he's sick of humanity living in fear towards them. As displayed by the large mansion he lives in, Eigen comes from a rich family, and has three younger siblings that he has to watch over.
\
Following the Bailong Exams, Eigen gets appointed to Blue Battalion even though he wasn't an exam graduate as he was able to impress the higher-ups in the Bailong Nest fight against Executive Peltrola.
----
* ADayInTheLimelight: A good chunk of Chapter 72 is about D and Angel witnessing Eigen's home life; he lives in a large mansion with his three younger siblings.
* BerserkButton: Reminding him of the danger that the Invaders' fortress poses to humanity is an easy way to tick him off, and he wants it completely disposed of. It's why Hibiki in particular rubs him the wrong way due to the whole "get along with the Invaders" angle that Hibiki's known for. There's a strong possibility that this feeling comes from needing to watch out for his younger siblings.
* BigBrotherInstinct: The visit to his home in chapter 72 shows that he's watching out for his younger siblings, and wants to provide them with a good life.
* BrokenPedestal: He's notably shocked when he not only sees Blue Keeper negotiate with the Invaders, but actively make them cause trouble for the local populace and disguise as one of their Executives so the Keepers can stop them and make the populace put their trust in the Rangers again.
* CharacterDevelopment: After witnessing [[spoiler:a Footsoldier disguised as Ranmaru (not knowing it's XX)]] lead Eigen in the right direction so that he can help his fellow rangers during the Bailong Exams, he starts to have second thoughts that Hibiki might be right that there's a possibility to have better relations with the Invaders.
* ChildhoodFriends: He's this with the other Blue Battalion candidate, Ranmaru. They've been friends long before they joined the Ranger Association to try to become rangers.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: He's introduced calling out D to not get full of himself just because he was lucky enough to have taken out a weak footsoldier before any of them, which establishes right away that he's going to be at odds with D throughout their time together at Bailong's Nest.
* GoalInLife: He wants to be rid of the Invaders and their Flying Fortress in order for humanity to be safe.
* GreenEyedMonster: Early on, he's been itching to fight against the Invaders, which he displays some jealousy towards Hibiki after hearing that the latter had already fought and defeated a Footsoldier.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: In chapter 13, he pretty much calls out Hibiki as a hypocrite for going and killing an Invader footsoldier despite all of Hibiki's previous claims that they can make peace with the Invaders by trying to talk to them. Unbeknownst to Eigen, [[spoiler:he said this in front of D disguised as "Hibiki" since Hibiki and D had already swapped places]].
* TheRival:
** Due to how antagonistic Eigen comes off towards Hibiki, D views him as one during their time at Bailong's nest.
** He ends up in this role with Ranmaru. As the two Blue Battalion candidates, only one is allowed to pass the Bailong Exams.
* RivalsTeamUp: During the Bailong Exams, Eigen's forced to team up with Ranmaru due to the two of them being put into a team as the two Blue Battalion candidates. However, this breaks apart once it becomes clear that only one candidate is allowed to pass, and the candidates end up forming 5-on-5 "strong" vs. "weak" teams.
* ScaryTeeth: His teeth are seen to be spikier compared to other humans.
* TheTeam: During the Bailong Exams, Eigen gets recruited into Sojiro's "strong team" alongside Kai, Angelica, and Renren to face off against D's "weak team."

A member of Blue Battalion who's been assigned to maintenance within the Bailong's Nest training facility.
----
* BrokenHero: Despite joining the rangers to fight the Invaders, he eventually realized that he wasn't cut out for all the fighting, and instead got away from it by just becoming a ranger worker who helps maintain the Bailong's Nest. Despite that, he's still skilled enough to easily defeat XX in combat.
* CharacterDeath: [[spoiler:He's killed by the Invader Executive, Peltrola, when it turns out that said Executive has invaded into the Bailong's Nest in order to retrieve XX]].
* CurbStompBattle: He easily defeats Footsoldier XX when he stumbles across her hiding in the closet of Hibiki's room.
* TheEngineer: He's a ranger who works on maintaining the Bailong's Nest training facility that's run by Blue Battalion. Some of his skills include working with electronics, and plumbing. His ranger fighting skills have also not dulled since he still easily defeated XX in combat.
* MrFixit: His job is to keep the Bailing's Nest in good shape, and to repair items that belong to the ranger cadets.
* NiceGuy: Despite suddenly getting attacked by XX, and even manages to defeat her, he instead seeks peace with her since he's tired of all the fighting. [[spoiler:Too bad he's killed by Peltrola almost immediately after]].
* NoNameGiven: He was never given a name.
* SurprisinglySuddenDeath: Just when it looked like he was on the verge of making peace with XX, [[spoiler:he's suddenly shot and killed by Executive Peltrola. 345
The Junior First Class ranger of the Green Battalion. A young woman who wears a sailor uniform over her ranger attire.
----
* BareFistedMonk: Unlike other rangers that have ranged or traditional melee weapons, Kanon's fighting style revolves around a mix of unarmed combat and her teeth-like divine tool
* BerserkButton:
** She gets irritated quite easily when things aren't going her way, or when people perform actions that annoy her, such as Shun calling her stupid.
** Do ''not'' say anything positive about the Invaders while she's around. Even at eight years old, hearing an elderly man defend the Invaders leads her to beat the dude to either unconsciousness or death. [[CharacterDevelopment No longer the case]] as of the Invader Rights Association arc, where she was able to have a peaceful, if tense, talk, with the association's leader and only resorted to violence once it became clear that they were in league with an Executive. See SecretSecretKeeper below as to why.
* BringIt: As a trainer for the Bailong Exams, she orders D to take her on in a fight head on due to being annoyed by his "running away" antics.
* BigDamnHug: After initially saying she'd have to kill D if she acknowledged him as an Invader, [[spoiler: toward the climax of the Three Way Battle arc she hugs him while asking him to team up to defeat Death Messiah]].
* ChildSoldier: Hisui joined the Rangers at only ten years old. Her uniform indicates that, should she have continued in the school system, she'd be at least middle school age at current.
* CurbStompBattle:
** Dishes this out on fellow Ranger, Shun Tokita, in chapter 21 when his actions pissed her off during the Bailong Exams. [[spoiler:Not knowing that D was disguising between Kanon and Shun to confuse them into fighting one another]].
** The Green Battalion candidates, Angel and Sojiro, didn't put up much of a fight against her when they fought on the Bailong Exam's first day. They did get help from D and Kai midway through the day, but even then when the exam's first day is over, it's quite clear by their injuries that Kanon roughed them up while Kanon remained perfectly fine.
* DamselInDistress:
** Kanon ends up becoming a part of Magatia's school illusion during the Dreamy School Life arc. She's almost killed by her fellow Green ranger, [[BrokenPedestal Kyousuke]], while she's stuck under the illusion, but is [[BigDamnHeroes saved by D]].
** She later gets imprisoned at the IRA for refusing to go along with their plans, [[spoiler:which Kanon's let out by XX because of Hibiki being imprisoned, which XX wanted to free him]].
* ADayInTheLimelight: Kanon gets a lot of focus during the Dreamy School Life arc, which delves into her character and backstory.
* DeadpanSnarker: To Green Keeper.
* TheDragAlong: Amongst the Rangers that are testing the cadets of D's Colorless group, Kanon's clearly the least motivated to go through with it. In chapter 18, Pink Battalion's Masurao even pushes her along from behind just to force her to come along with them.
* FightUnscene: Her fight with the lower members of the Invader Rights Association ended up occurring off-panel. The few bits seen of it is that Kanon performed a CurbStompBattle on them up until an Invader Executive joined in, and turned the fight around to the point of Kanon getting captured.
* FlechetteStorm: While not to the point of it being a storm, one of Kanon's fighting methods is to throw multiple knives at her enemies.
* TheGlovesComeOff: Upon learning the Invader Rights Association is working directly under an Executive, her vow of not harming ''innocent'' civilians no longer applies and she happily beats down one of them before invoking her divine tool.
* ManBitesMan: Her divine tool manifests as a mouth mask with a devastating bite.
* MirrorCharacter: Arguably, to D. Both start off with a single minded hate towards the other side in the Ranger-Invader war, develop a disdain for their superiors (Though specifically Red in Hisui's case, as opposed to all Executives for D), and react with short sighted hostility and violence towards their enemy. Both also bond with some among their enemy (the cadets and later Green Battalion for D, D himself for Hisui) and are forced to change their views (with D first feeling conflicted over fighting all the Rangers, and later wondering if he really needed to kill Chidori, while Hisui admits even if she wants to destroy all the invaders, she cares about D enough to want to know what he thinks).
* MoreTeethThanTheOsmondFamily: When invoking her divine tool, it creates a mask that has even ''more'' teeth than Green in uniform.
* NumberTwo: Serves as the second highest ranger in Green Battalion.
* OneManArmy: In a six-on-one fight against the Invader Rights Association armed with divine tools and an Invader Executive, Kanon manages to hold her own and incapacitate all five of the IRA members. She even managed to get a bite out of the Executive's throat before finally being taken down.
* OrphansOrdeal: Kanon's one of many, ''many'' children orphaned by the Invaders' destructive habits. She remains deeply traumatized by it, to the point where her anger flares up whenever people refer to the Invaders in a light-hearted or positive manner.
* PutOnABus: After being captured by the Invaders Rights Association in chapter 88, Kanon is sidelined for most of the Three Way Battle arc. She ended up in an IRA prison cell while the rest of the story unfurls around her.
* ScarsAreForever: After invoking the power of Green Keeper's divine tool to defeat Yakushi, her arm is left permanently scarred from lacking the full synchronization to use its power.
* SecretSecretKeeper: Is fully aware of D's true nature, but chooses not to act on it despite her personal hatred for the Invaders.
--> '''Kanon:''' Nah. If I came out and said it... I'd have to kill him.
* SoleSurvivor: Prior to Angel and D joining Green Battalion, Kanon was the last active non-Keeper Green Ranger as their numbers were seemingly never replenished following most of them being wiped out by an Executive (likely to be the first contact Green Battalion had with Magtia at the high school ruins).
* TragicKeepsake: The uniform she wears over her Ranger jumpsuit turns out to be this, as a reminder of the normal school life she can never have thanks to her ambitions. After the School Life arc, she discards the uniform for a new one as a sign of finally coming to terms with her past.
* TroublingUnchildlikeBehavior: She beats an old man to death's door with her bare hands, at only ''eight years old''. It's at this point when Kanon herself realizes that she can never be normal again.
* UncertainDoom: [[spoiler: Despite putting up one hell of a fight against five IRA members and an Executive, Kanon is eventually knocked unconscious. We later find out that she's being kept prisoner by the IRA in exchange for D joining them.]]
* WhamLine: Makes one after learning the Invader Rights Organization is under the control of an Executive.
-->'''Kanon:''' So, you're minions of the Invaders, yeah? That puts you under Green Battalion jurisdiction.

----
* IDontWantToDie: [[spoiler:Wakaba notes that after she was ambushed by him and lay dying on the floor, her final words were how terrified she was of dying.]]
* MoralityChain: Acts as this for Hisui. Some flashbacks show Tokiwa chastising Hisui for her more violent outbursts, and urging the girl to protect even Invader sympathizers because they're still citizens at the end of the day.
* PosthumousCharacter: Dead before the series started and only appears in Kanon's flashbacks.
* TooGoodForThisSinfulEarth: From Wakaba and Hisui's memories, she was a model leader, Ranger, and companion. When faced against Magatia with all her squad incapacitated, she even expresses a sincere belief that they'll finally be able to close in on Magatia. [[spoiler:Belief wasn't enough for Wakaba, who killed her.]]

* DaddysLittleVillain: During the chapters that focus on the Invader Rights Association, [[spoiler:Angel becomes an enemy who works and fights for her father, Yakushi Usukubo, who's the ArcVillain leader of the IRA that fights against the Ranger Association. However, Angel eventually [[HeelFaceTurn turns on him]] after she realizes her feelings for D]].
* DamselInDistress: Angel ends up becoming a part of Magatia's school illusion during the Dreamy School Life arc, which D and company work to eventually break her out of Magatia's control.
* ADayInTheLimelight: She gets a lot of focus during the chapters that focus on the Invader Rights Association. Particularly, anything that has to do with her connection to Yakushi, and her life as TheMole for the IRA.
* DistinctiveAppearances: Compared to other characters, Angel's heterochromia eyes makes it quite easy to point her out amongst the cast.
* FaceHeelTurn: After she's revealed to have been a member of the Invaders Rights Association the entire time, [[spoiler:Angel ditches Green Battalion, and sides with her father, Yakushi Usukubo, who's the leader of the IRA. Thus, she serves as an enemy during the chapters that focus on the IRA. However, Angel [[HeelFaceTurn switches over]] to being an ally for D after she realizes her feeling for him]].
* {{Foreshadowing}}: In chapter 20 when it turns out that Angel's leg was injured during the final Bailong Exams, she mentions to D and company how she can't end things here since she's currently on a mission. This hints of her mission as TheMole in the rangers working for the Invaders Rights Association.
* GameBreakingInjury: She winds up injuring her leg on the first day of the final Bailong Exams, which ended up slowing her down for the rest of her cadet teammates.
* HalfHumanHybrid: [[spoiler:Angel's body became the vessel for the Invader Executive, Yulimerida. Thus, she's now a half-human / half-invader hybrid]].
* HeelFaceTurn: [[spoiler:After realizing her feelings for D during the Three-Way Battle arc, Angel switches over to D's side to help Green Battalion take down her father and the IRA]].
* HiddenDepths: Her observational skills make her a very good artist. She mentioned that she wanted to be a mangaka at one point.
* ItRunsInTheFamily: [[spoiler:While it turns out that they're not actually related, Angel takes after her adoptive father, Yakushi, as another human who falls in love with an Invader]].
* KillSteal: Steals a couple Footsoldier hologram kills from D and Tsukasa during the Bailong Nest training in chapter 17. She does apologize for it.
* TheLoad: Due to being one of the weaker Colorless cadets, Angel's viewed as such during the Bailong Exams. Especially after getting a leg injury on the first day of the final Bailong Exams. So much so that Kai's first action after finding out she was injured was to just leave her behind. However "Hibiki" comes back to get her when Angel claims that she doesn't want to be dead weight, and that she hasn't completed her own personal mission yet. It later turns out that [[spoiler:this all was most likely an act since Angel actually has the strength of a powerful Invader Executive that's been housed within her body the entire time]].
* LoveConfession: Happens during the Three-Way Battle arc. [[spoiler:Due to her interactions with D, and after a bit of encouragement from D during the battle against her father, Angel realizes that she's fallen in love with him. As a result, Angel announces to those nearby, such as her father, the members of Green Battalion, and even D himself, that she's fallen for D]].
* TheMole: She's a member of the Invaders Rights Association who infiltrated the Ranger Association, and has likely been feeding the IRA with information of said association over the course of her career.
* NiceGirl: Amongst the Colorless cadets, she's easily the nicest and most non-antagonistic girl of the bunch.
* TheRival: She ends up in this role with Sojiro. As the two Green Battalion candidates, only one is allowed to pass the Bailong Exams.
* TheReveal: Several for Angel once the IRA enter the picture.
** She's later revealed to be TheMole for the Invader Rights Association that infiltrated the Ranger Association, and that the IRA's leader, Yakushi Usukubo, is her father.
** She's then revealed to [[spoiler:not actually be Yakushi's daughter. Angel's more of an adopted girl that Yakushi just decided to take in and act like her father because Angel ended up becoming the body vessel for Yulimerida, the Invader Executive that Yakushi fell in love with. During a moment where Yulimerida was on the verge of death, Angel was unlucky enough to be the closest nearby human, which Yulimerida went into Angel to use as a new body vessel]].
* RivalsTeamUp: During the Bailong Exams, Angel's forced to team up with Sojiro due to the two of them being put into a team as the two Green Battalion candidates. However, this breaks apart once it becomes clear that only one candidate is allowed to pass, and the candidates end up forming 5-on-5 "strong" vs. "weak" teams.
* ShipTease: With D once they both join Green Battalion. [[spoiler:The Three-Way Battle arc is where it turns out that she's fallen for D, and even [[LoveConfession announces it]] to her father]].
* ShrinkingViolet: She's easily seen as the shyest and least confident of the Colorless cadets.
* TheTeam: Once it became clear that Sojiro had put together a "strong team" aiming to win the Bailong Exams, Angel falls in with D's "weak team" alongside Ranmaru, Yamato, and Tsukasa in order to face off against the "strong team."
* WalkingSpoiler: There's a lot more to Angel's character than just being the shy and weak ranger cadet who eventually made it into Green Battalion with D. Particularly, anything that has to do with her role as TheMole for the Invader Rights Association.

[[folder:Kyousuke Wakaba]]

A member of Green Battalion that was thought to have died in the past, but turned out to be alive and has been living under an Executive's school illusion.
----
* BrokenPedestal: More than anything, he loved the Dragon Keepers and was ecstatic to learn that they were both a real force and he could join with his heroes. Actually being on the front lines, however, forced him to learn that conflicts aren't always as black and white as life made it seem, and that the war between the Rangers and Executives has been needlessly prolonged. Upon realizing this, he basically defects from the Rangers and strikes a deal with Magatia to make the neverending school life.
* DiscOneFinalBoss: In the Dreamy School Life arc, Kyousuke's initially set up as the real leader behind the Ouroboros gang and a candidate for the body Magatia's disguising himself as. His battle with D and company acts as a first climax to the arc, as his true circumstances are revealed, he uses all the powers available to him from his deceased Green Battalion teammates, and the looping school life finally begins to crack.
* FaceHeelTurn: After he had a severe crisis of faith in the Rangers while facing Magatia, he turns on his superior Tokiwa and kills her before joining Magatia himself.
* {{Hypocrite}}: He mocks Second Class Tokiwa for her amibitions to become the next Green Keeper, saying that [[NeverASelfMadeWoman she only got so far because she relied on her Divine Tool]]. However, when Wakaba is in battle, he overrelies on Tokiwa's Tool and thinks himself invincible when using it.
* NotBrainwashed: At first, Hisui assumes that since Wakaba had been with the team that got slaughtered by Magatia, the Wakaba that stands now is probably Magatia in disguise. It's only after several attempts to brutalize her and a small conversation on PE grounds that he reveals that he's the ''real'' Wakaba, and simply changed sides during that fateful encounter.
* RightForTheWrongReasons: His crisis of faith makes him believe that the Rangers are also responsible for prolonging the war with the Kaijins. He's certainly not ''wrong'', considering the Keepers have forced the Dusters to do their Sunday battles, but he doesn't have the whole picture either.
* UsedToBeASweetKid: He was genuinely a justice seeking boy and grew up into a hardworking and trustworthy Ranger. That all changed when Tokiwa Squad was on the losing end of a battle with Magatia.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: Wakaba notes that most children don't really get the choice to go on to higher education thanks to the Kaijin war, as they either drop out of school altogether or join the Rangers. His solution to that is the looping school, where he and Magatia kidnap teens and let them live out a "proper" school life far away from the ugliness of the real world.
* WhyDidYouMakeMeHitYou: He says that he doesn't want to hurt the students or hurt his former allies, but justifies his aggression by saying that their retaliation is pushing him to desperation.
* WouldHurtAChild: While he does think that putting the kidnapped teens in the looping school is genuinely the best course of action for them, he's still not above cutting them up to get where he needs to be, or ruining the school and endangering them when he's fighting. He also is alright with harming the teenage Hisui.

[[caption-width-right:230:"I've never felt like cheering for the main character who's obviously going to win."]]

The cold and aloof Junior First Class ranger of Yellow Battalion who's shrouded in mystery.
\
Yumeko's introduced partnered up with the Independent ranger, Hibiki Sakurama, and meets Footsoldier D for the first time during one of her daily ranger routines. She discovers D's Duster identity during his first infiltration attempt, but instead of turning him in, Yumeko proposes that they work together in order to take down the Dragon Keepers and the Ranger Association. The mission she gives D is to help her in stealing away the five powerful Divine Tools that are wielded by the Dragon Keepers. Yumeko's reasons for why she wants to end the Ranger Association isn't revealed to D, but she desires to accomplish it with him due to being someone who's a [[FanOfUnderdog fan of the underdog]].
----
* ActionGirl: She's the second strongest Ranger of her Battalion, only second to her boss, the 1st Class Yellow Keeper.
* {{Beat}}: Hearing D inform her that he successfully stole away Red Keeper's Divine Tool stuns Yumeko in silence for a bit before asking if he really did pull it off, which D assures her that he has it.
* BadassBoast: Her answer to D's WhoAreYou
-->'''Your enemy.'''
* BeneathTheMask: Yumeko appears to be a friendly ranger at first glance, but behind that friendliness is a much darker woman that wants to end everything about the rangers. D and Hibiki know full-well what her real persona's actually like.
* CurbStompBattle: The Yellow Battalion candidates, Yamato and Angelica, were no match for her when they fought on the Bailong Exam's first day. So much so that Yamato and Angelica were roughed up and exhausted once the first day of the exam was over while Yumeko remained perfectly fine.
* DeviousDaggers: Shown to be able to perfectly use a dagger after taking it from "Hibiki;" slicing off his head to reveal D beneath the disguise.
* DullEyesOfUnhappiness: Compared to everyone else's character designs, and while she still gives off expressions, Yumeko for whatever reason has no detail in her eyes to the point that it makes her look somewhat lifeless.
* EnemyMine: Teams up with an enemy of the Invaders, Footsoldier D, to put an end to the Ranger Association.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: The end of chapter 2 is quite the wham moment that shows off Yumeko's true persona. After spending the first two chapters being a seemingly okay woman, she suddenly goes all dark and instantly cuts off D's head to make him drop his "Hibiki" disguise. And it doesn't even end there as instead of revealing D to the rangers, she offers a team up with him as her desire is to end the rangers and Dragon Keepers. Thus, shrouding her character in mystery as to why she's against her fellow rangers.
* FaceOfAnAngelMindOfADemon: The first chapters introduce her as a NiceGirl. That is, until she discovers D's identity and shows a rather sociopathic personality after.
* FanOfUnderdog: She roots for the rivals that can't win the LoveTriangle battle against the main character in her favorite coming-of-age drama shows. This carries over to wanting to partner up with D, who desires to beat the Dragon Keepers despite being in a loop where he's not allowed to win.
* FemmeFatale: The anti-hero type. She's very pretty looking, but also quite clever and sneaky.
* {{Foil}}:
** To Hibiki. Both are the first people D runs into after putting his plan into motion, and both of them want to ally themselves with D for their goals, but that's where the similarities end. Yumeko is the powerful NumberTwo of the Yellow Battalion and is AmbiguouslyEvil, whereas Hibiki is a lowly cadet with a heart of gold. Their goals and respective approaches are also wildly different, with Yumeko forcing D into helping her kill the Dragon Keepers while maintaining her cover as a Junior First Class, while Hibiki makes a bet with D instead and works from the outside to reform the Ranger Association instead without relying on his help. Their eyes also heavily contrast, with the secretly cruel Yumeko having DullEyesOfUnhappiness and the outwardly idealistic Hibiki having [[ExoticEyeDesigns star-shaped pupils]].
** Also one to Kanon. Both of them are blonde-haired, Junior First Class rangers of their respective battalions and have very different personalities and outlooks towards the Invaders. Yumeko comes off as aloof yet well mannered compared to Kanon's rough personality. Yumeko is also a [[FanOfUnderdog fan of the underdog]] while sympathy towards Invaders is a BerserkButton for Kanon. Even their relationships with their respective Keepers are opposites as Yumeko has a professional respect for Yellow Keeper while Kanon's with Green is a lot more casual.
* HiddenDepths: Due to being a fan of watching coming-of-age drama television, she has intimate knowledge of the tropes and cliches that come with such stories, such as the fact that the rival never wins the battle for love against the main character. The ForegoneConclusion of the heroine winning therefore bores her and makes her [[FanOfUnderdog root for the rival instead]], which plays into why she's rooting for the always losing D to finally overtake the Dragon Keepers.
* HyperAwareness: She's quite observant of her surroundings as seen early on. While D was [[PerfectDisguiseTerribleActing making the signs pretty obvious]], Yumeko noticed that the "Hibiki" she was with throughout chapter 2 was D in disguise, which she goes about unmasking him at the end of it. She even cuts D's head off afterwards just because she sensed the slightest bit of defiance from him.
* ImprobableWeaponUser: With Divine Tools ranging from energy blades to hammers to laser rifles, Yumeko's divine tool is a television remote controller that has the ability to manipulate time.
* ItAmusedMe: Her real motivation for taking down the Dragon Keepers? She simply hates the "good guys". She describes her motivation like a drama series, where she would rather root for the rivals over the heroes who she views at boring.
* LastOfHisKind: [[spoiler: Descended from a lineage of people blessed by the Divine Dragon. In the present day she's the only surviving member.]]
* MsExposition: Due to D's lack of understanding of the Ranger Association, Yumeko serves as the one that explains the basics to him during their early series team-up. One moment in chapter 4 is quite literally an imaginary image of her as the teacher of the classroom teaching D, the student.
* NervesOfSteel: She is completely unflappable. When the Blue Keeper aggressively and very profanely chews her out for being late, she unflinchingly calls him pathetic.
* NumberTwo: Serves as the second highest ranger in Yellow Battalion.
* OffWithHisHead: Her go to attack to make D drop his "Hibiki" disguise is to slice off his head. She does it multiple times.
* ThePlan: For whatever reason, Yumeko desires to end the Ranger Association. To start with, she teams up with Footsolder D upon discovering his attempt to infiltrate the rangers, and tasks him to steal away the Dragon Keepers' Divine Tools.
* PunnyName: As a member of Yellow Battalion, she also carries the the character for 'yellow' in her surname.
* RivalsTeamUp: Much to D's surprise, Yumeko offers him a team-up in order for the two of them to crush the rangers together. He instantly tries to refuse, but given how overpowering she is compared to him, he ends up going along with it.
* SecretKeeper: She's one of the few people that knows about D's infiltration into the Ranger Association. [[spoiler:She eventually realizes during the cadet Bailong Exams that D survived the Red Keeper theft stunt, and is disguised as "Hibiki Sakurama"]].
* ShipTease: Towards D. After [[spoiler:realizing he's disguised as Hibiki Sakurama and survived his encounter with the Dragon Keepers after stealing Red Keeper's Divine Tool]], she blushes and looks very pleased.
* SixthRanger: [[spoiler: Revealed by Shinya to be someone chosen by the Dragon God to receive Divine Power, putting her at the same level as the rest of the Dragon Keepers.]]
* TimeMaster: Yumeko's divine tool can manipulate the time of a single target:
** Rewind returns a target to their previous position.
** Pause locks a target in time.
** Yumeko suddenly appearing out of nowhere, as seen when she appeared behind Green Keeper who was standing on the roof of a two-story house, could be assumed to be Fast Forward of which she used on herself. It's heavily implied momentum is carried with her accelerated movement as she had sent Yukino flying after punching her midsentence.
* UncertainDoom: [[spoiler:Her current status following her botched assassination attempt on Green Keeper is unknown, though having her identity known and being confronted by him while trying to escape doesn't bode well for her. She returns following the end of the Monster Zoo mini arc just casually hanging around Green Battalion HQ and playing Othello with Green Keeper.]]
* WeAreAsMayflies: [[spoiler: While Yumeko is able to live a full life, her flash clones would only survive a few years outside of the tubes containing them according to Sosei.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Akane Yamabuki]]
Second Class ranger of Yellow Battalion. An enthusiastic researcher and propagandist.
----
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Comes across as a bubbly researcher but [[spoiler: has a past of poisoning animals and using her fellow Yellow Battalion members to live test dangerously modified divine tools.]]
* BlindfoldedVision: Yamabuki is always wearing a blindfold over her eyes, even while talking to new recruits or doing experiments. She seems to get around just fine with it on.
* BlindJustice: While not actually blind beneath the blindfold, she does carry herself with a strong sense of justice. [[spoiler: At least until its revealed how indiscriminate her sense of justice is, causing more harm than good.]]
* ADayInTheLimelight: Chapter 103 delves into her {{Backstory}}.
* DisneyVillainDeath: Tries to kill herself and D by sending them both into a pool of acid, but D managed to survive the fall.
* {{Hikikomori}}: Would much rather be working in Yellow Battalion's lab, but the sudden shortage in manpower means she has to participate in the assault on the Invader Right's Association's base.
* MadScientist: Of the Engineer variety as she developed the Burst Form for the dragon tools. [[spoiler: It was not without incident as she used live test subjects, resulting in many getting injured from failed prototypes.]]
* SelfServingMemory: Believed she stopped the crows from harassing her class' pet rabbit, reported a few college-aged boys trying to pick up her classmates, and developed the Burst Form for the dragon tools. [[spoiler: In actuality she poisoned the crows ''and'' the rabbit, got both parties expelled as the photos she turned over were just them drinking, and while she did develop the Burst Form it had a number of casualties in the process.]]
* TakingYouWithMe: After snapping from Shinya reminding her of her deluded sense of justice, she tackles D and they both fall into a pool of acid below.
* UnreliableNarrator: Of her own chapter that delved into her backstory as she was deluded into thinking her actions were heroic and just.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Windy]]
A fresh recruit to Yellow Battalion. Curious to a fault and very eager to meet new people.
----
* ExoticEyeDesigns: Windy's eyes have peculiar star-shaped pupils, which even the characters with odd eye colors don't have.
* OnlyOneName: Was introduced as simply "Windy" in their character introduction.

One of the two Yellow Battalion candidates amongst Hibiki's Colorless cadet group. Angelica tends to act like the loner {{Ojou}} of the cadets, much to Angelica's annoyance that Yamato constantly tries to hit on her due to how beautiful she is.
\
Following the Bailong Exams, even though Yamato won his duel with Angelica, he ends up letting her go on to graduate instead of him. As a result, Angelica is appointed to Blue Battalion. She later ends up going through a second transfer to Yellow Battalion after her confrontation with D and Suzukiri.
\
During the TimeSkip, Kanon notes that Angelica had transferred out of Yellow Battalion to Green for a few months before leaving for an unspecified battalion.
----
* CarFu: In chapter 18, her and Yamato's plan to beat Yumeko in the Bailong Exams is to try to run her over with a truck. [[OhCrap It doesn't work]].
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: She's introduced EatingLunchAlone and not wanting to be bothered by anyone, which makes it quite clear that she's the loner of the Colorless cadets.
* ImNotHereToMakeFriends: Angelica's introduced as someone who's more of a loner as she has no interest in getting along with anyone, and is just there for the ranger exams.
* LonerTurnedFriend: She starts off as quite the loner early on, but eventually starts to interact and get along more with others. Particularly after the cadets had to team up to fight Peltrola.
* OhCrap: Her and Yamato instantly realize they're screwed the moment Yumeko pops up behind them after their plan to run her over with a truck failed.
* {{Ojou}}: She comes off as someone acting as if she's a high-class person better than everyone else. D's first impression of her is that she's acting like a royal highness who wants nothing to do with them.
* TheRival: She ends up in this role with Yamato. As the two Yellow Battalion candidates, only one is allowed to pass the Bailong Exams.
* RivalsTeamUp: During the Bailong Exams, Angelica's forced to team up with Yamato due to the two of them being put into a team as the two Yellow Battalion candidates. However, this breaks apart once it becomes clear that only one candidate is allowed to pass, and the candidates end up forming 5-on-5 "strong" vs. "weak" teams.
* TheTeam: During the Bailong Exams, Angelica gets recruited into Sojiro's "strong team" alongside Kai, Eigen, and Renren to face off against D's "weak team."

One of the two Yellow Battalion candidates amongst Hibiki's Colorless cadet group. Yamato comes off as the CasanovaWannabe of the bunch, and was the first to befriend D when the latter first arrived at the Bailong's Nest disguised as "Hibiki." Despite ending the exams on the winning cadet team, Yamato gives his spot to Angelica.
\
After aiding in the defense of Milky Way City against the Giga-Invader Death Messiah, Yamato is accepted into Yellow Battalion for his effort.
----
* BestFriend: In an attempt to suck up to Hibiki's sister, Sesera, Yamato claims that he's Hibiki's best friend, even though they've only been together for one day at the Bailong Nest.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Despite being the NiceGuy of the male cadets, even Yamato takes part in suddenly attacking the footsoldier holograms during training, and even calls out D that it's the faster method to resolve the problem.
* TheBusCameBack: Yamato reappears along with Renren and Shippo after the three of them disappeared for about 60 chapters following the Bailong Exams. The three of them finally reappear during the Three-Way Battle arc as back-up for the Rangers against the Invaders and IRA.
* CarFu: In chapter 18, his and Angelica's plan to beat Yumeko in the Bailong Exams is to try to run her over with a truck. [[OhCrap It doesn't work]].
* CasanovaWannabe: He tries to be this towards his fellow female rangers, but his attempts to hit on girls aren't exactly impressing anyone.
* DistinctiveAppearances: He's got two distinctive hair highlights on his front bangs.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: He's introduced having helped a lost D find his way to the Bailong's Nest training facility, which makes it quite clear that he's the NiceGuy of the Colorless cadets that's on good terms with Hibiki.
* FragileSpeedster: Out of all the Colorless, Yamato's got the best reflexes and speed. However, he's not the best fighter, so he's in a weak position.
* GoalInLife: His dream is to become a great ranger so that all the ranger battalion chicks go crazy for him.
* GreenEyedMonster: He has a bit of jealousy towards the popular Red Keeper, Sosei, which Yamato desires to one day get back at Red Keeper for looking past him.
* HaremSeeker: His whole motivation surrounding why he wants to become a ranger is because he wants to have a bunch of girls all being fancied in him.
* NiceGuy: The all-around nice dude amongst the Colorless cadets. Just by noticing that D doesn't know where the Bailing's Nest training facility is at, Yamato is perfectly fine with bringing him along.
* OhCrap: Him and Angelica instantly realize they're screwed the moment Yumeko pops up behind them after their plan to run her over with a truck failed.
* TheRival: He ends up in this role with Angelica. As the two Yellow Battalion candidates, only one is allowed to pass the Bailong Exams.
* RivalsTeamUp: During the Bailong Exams, Yamato's forced to team up with Angelica due to the two of them being put into a team as the two Yellow Battalion candidates. However, this breaks apart once it becomes clear that only one candidate is allowed to pass, and the candidates end up forming 5-on-5 "strong" vs. "weak" teams.
* TheTeam: Once it became clear that Sojiro had put together a "strong team" aiming to win the Bailong Exams, Yamato falls in with D's "weak team" alongside Ranmaru, Angel, and Tsukasa in order to face off against the "strong team."

The Junior First Class ranger of the Pink Battalion. A tall and muscular man with short hair and a pencil moustache. An eloquent and polite man, he serves as Pink Keeper's personal assistant, helping her on her daily routine and programmed appointments.
----
* CurbStompBattle: The Pink Battalion candidates, Tsukasa and Shippo, were no match for him when they fought on the Bailong Exam's first day. So much so that Renren's seen all roughed up and exhausted once the first day of the exam was over while Masurao remained perfectly fine. Even though he's not seen with the other exhausted Colorless cadets as he immediately went back to the training room after the first day, it's implied that the same beatdown happened to Shippo.
* TheDriver: Since his boss is a paraplegic outside of her uniform, Masurao serves as Pink Keeper's dedicated driver.
* Foil: To Shippo. Both are tall and muscular Pink Rangers (in Shippo's case a Pink Applicant) but while Shippo is a boisterous DumbMuscle, Masurao is a mild mannered GeniusBruiser.
* GeniusBruiser: Despite his tall and imposing figure, he holds the rank of Junior First Class because of his sharp mind and attention to detail opposed to his raw strength.
* GentleGiant: Towers over most of the class save for Shippo but is eloquent and mild mannered.
* HugeGuyTinyGirl: He's the big guy to Pink Keeper's tiny girl whenever they're seen together as members of Pink Battalion.
* MadeOfIron: When he confronts a group of thugs bothering a woman at the park, one of the thugs tries to punch Masurao in the face. Masurao's body is so hard that the thug's hand is left completely broken while Masurao's face remains perfectly fine.
* MusclesAreMeaningful: Aside from a thug breaking his hand when punching him the face, Masuro gave a bear hug to a Monster that killed it outright. Said monster towered over him and was significantly heavier too.
** In another case he deflected the blade of a Ranger tool by flexing his neck muscles and got away with only a shallow cut.
* NumberTwo: Serves as the second highest ranger in Pink Battalion.
* TheOneGuy: Masurao is the only male member of [[AmazonBrigade Pink Battalion]].
* RealMenWearPink: Mild mannered and both the tallest and most muscular out of all Rangers, not just Pink Battalion.
* SecretKeeper: He appears to be the only person who's seen how Pink Keeper acts when it comes to [[spoiler:her weird obsession over her younger brother]].
* StraightMan: Knowing what his boss is like outside her Dragon Keeper uniform, Masurao's basically the normal guy that has to put up with Pink Ranger's "antics."

!!Noa Hagino
The Third Class ranger of Pink Battalion. Owns a yakiniku restaurant.
----
* AlmightyJanitor: While she's introduced as a restaurant owner, it's simply a front as she's a part of the CleanupCrew that's the real function of Pink Battalion.
** At the start of her career she was a member of the Black Suits, a subsection of Pink Battalion tasked for espionage and assassination.
* BadassInANiceSuit: She once started her "color" career in the Rangers as a Black Suit before promoting to a Third Class Pink.
* BreakTheCutie: Her first assignment for Pink Battalion was implied to be [[spoiler: the murder of the previous Pink Keeper.]] She's been plagued by nightmares and unable to fully wield her divine tool ever since.
* HeroKiller: [[spoiler: Implied to be complicit in the death of the previous Pink Keeper.]]
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: Maintains a begrudging respect for Yumeko despite her constant spats with Pink Keeper. However it's not enough respect to not close her restaurant early as soon as Yumeko enters.

* FemmeFataleSpy: Introduced as one of two girls clinging to LG the Slum King and slashes his throat open shortly thereafter.
* NoNameGiven: Her real name and rank within Pink Battalion is unknown as the introduction subtitle only refers to her as her job title.
* RegalRinglets: Besides being the only Black Suit in a dress, her only other notable feature is her poofy hair that the veil the Black Suits wear is unable to contain.
* WeHardlyKnewYe: Despite having a unique design among the other Kuroko introduced, she's killed off a few chapters after being introduced.

!!Colorless Rangers
[[folder:Colorless in General]]
Independent white-suited ranger recruits who are under examination to prove their worth and hope to be scouted by one of the 5 Ranger Battalions. Most of the Colorless Rangers seen here are those that took the Bailong Exams alongside "Hibiki Sakurama" (D in disguise).
----
* AlmightyJanitor: For all events and purposes, they are fully fledged rangers and have divine tools (if limited comparatively versions). However not being associated with any color battalion means they're only given the most menial tasks and most look down upon them.
* TheBusCameBack: Little was heard about them after the conclusion of the Bailong Exam arc, but all the surviving Colorless Rangers return 60 chapters later in the Three Way Battle Arc.
* TheCavalry: After the Dragon Keepers failed to stop the Giga-Invader Death Messiah, the surviving Colorless Rangers from the Bailong exam ignore orders to stay on standby and join the fight.
* TheTeam: [[spoiler:Other than Ranmaru due to getting injured, the "Hibiki" class cadets put aside their rivalries in order to defeat Executive Peltrola at the end of the Bailong Exams arc]].
* WalkingSpoiler: The cadets who passed or failed the Bailong Exams that "Hibiki" took part in is quite easy to give away when discussing content that happens after the exams.

An optimistic and friendly ranger cadet.
\
Hibiki's introduced partnered up with Yumeko Suzukiri for their daily ranger duties, which he pushes a disguised D to join the rangers when they first met. After discovering D's Duster identity from overhearing his conversation with Yumeko, and learning from D that the battles between the Dragon Keepers and Duster footsoldiers has all been a scripted sham, Hibiki proposes that they work together to change and reform the Ranger Association from the inside. Thus, creating a new generation where humanity and the Kaijin can live in peace.
\
After pulling a fake HeroicSacrifice switcheroo with Footsoldier D to save the latter's life, the two of them end up switching places. This allowed D to properly infiltrate the Ranger Assocation in a "Hibiki" disguise while the real Hibiki disappears from sight in order to move towards his goal behind-the-scenes.
\
Following the dissolution of the Invaders Rights Association and the restoration of the Rangers Association, Hibiki would lead his own splinter group known as the Neo Rangers.

----
* MeaningfulName: Riku's name can also mean "land," which plays with his brother Kai's name meaning "sea." They're the land and sea of the Shion family.
* PosthumousCharacter: Since Riku died before the start of the series, he's only ever seen and characterized within flashbacks.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: He looks like a slightly older and slicker Kai.

One of the two Blue Battalion candidates amongst Hibiki's Colorless cadet group, and is friends with Eigen. Ranmaru is cowardly, but has a knack for tinkering with technology. Despite ending the exams on the winning cadet team, he ends up not passing due to injury.
----
* TheBusCameBack: Ranmaru disappears for about 60 chapters following the Bailong Exams. He finally reappears during the Three-Way Battle arc. [[spoiler:Though he's shown to still be bedridden in the hospital due to having not recovered yet from being injured to Peltrola during the Bailong's Nest fight]].
* ChildhoodFriends: He's this with the other Blue Battalion candidate, Eigen. They've been friends long before they joined the Ranger Association to try to become rangers.
* GadgeteerGenius: While his physical prowess is nothing to write home about, he's able to take surrounding appliances and edit them to his advantage. He is also the one who discovered how to access their standard issue weapon's "Burst" form, which all of the Reject Team uses in the last stretch of the Bailong Exams. Some of the Colorless even suggest he would have made for a better Yellow Ranger than a Blue.
* GoThroughMe: [[spoiler: He gets in between an injured Komachi and Peltrola, keeping the latter's attack from finishing her off but getting critically wounded in the process.]]
* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler:Ranmaru pulls this stunt in order to save Komachi from Executive Peltrola. He managed to survive]].
* OnlyMostlyDead: [[spoiler:While he was definitely on death's door when he attempted to save Komachi, Blue Keeper's powers kept him from bleeding out. He's put in intensive care after the battle with Peltrola, but he's barely hanging by a thread]].
* TheQuietOne: He doesn't talk much at first since he's usually seen alongside Eigen, and Eigen usually does the talking for him. After Eigen splits off to join the strong team during the Bailong Exams, Ranmaru's forced to join in with D's weak team, and starts to talk a lot more.
* TheRival: He ends up in this role with Eigen. As the two Blue Battalion candidates, only one is allowed to pass the Bailong Exams.
* RivalsTeamUp: During the Bailong Exams, Ranmaru's forced to team up with Eigen due to the two of them being put into a team as the two Blue Battalion candidates. However, this breaks apart once it becomes clear that only one candidate is allowed to pass, and the candidates end up forming 5-on-5 "strong" vs. "weak" teams.
* SecretKeeper: He's one of the few people who knows that [[spoiler:"Hibiki" is D in disguise. As a part of the plan to convince Ranmaru to join up with his team of weaker colorless cadets, D revealed himself as an Invader to Ranmaru during the Bailong Exams]].
* TheTeam: Once it became clear that Sojiro had put together a "strong team" aiming to win the Bailong Exams, Ranmaru falls in with D's "weak team" alongside Yamato, Angel, and Tsukasa in order to face off against the "strong team."

!!!'''Voiced by:''' Creator/DaikiHamano
[[quoteright:216:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/chara_ishikawa.png]]
One of the two Green Battalion candidates amongst Hibiki's Colorless cadet group, and is the oldest of them. As someone who's attempted the Bailong Exams multiple times, but hasn't been able to pass, Sojiro's the veteran of D's cadet group with the most experience of what it's like to be a Colorless ranger. In order to finally win the Bailong Exams, Sojiro goes about creating a team that he believes to be the strongest, which puts his strong cadet team at odds with D's weak cadet team.
----
* CharacterDeath: [[spoiler:He's killed during the Bailong Exams after taking a fatal blow from Executive Peltrola]].
* EveryYearTheyFizzleOut: He's taken on the Bailong Exams time and time again to become a Colored ranger, but is never able to truly pass it.
* EyesAlwaysShut: A classic example of a character who's almost always seen with his eyes shut.
* KillSteal: Steals a couple Footsoldier hologram kills from D and Tsukasa during the Bailong Nest training in chapter 17. He thanks them for being TheBait.
* TheLeader: In order to win the Bailong Exams, Sojiro's the one who put together the Colorless cadet team of "strong teammates" consisting of himself, Kai, Eigen, Angelica, and Renren, which makes him the overall leader of this group.
* MrExposition: Since he has the most experience as a Colorless cadet amongst D's group, Sojiro has the most knowledge about the Bailong Nest. D gets pissed that Sojiro's been holding back information from the rest of their group, and Sojiro relents to reveal what he knows about the upcoming Bailong Exams.
* {{Retirony}}: Ishikawa has been trying for Ranger for years, but he's getting on in age and has nothing to show for it. The current Ranger Exams, he states, are his last shot at advancing in the system before he calls it quits forever. [[spoiler:Unfortunately, Ishikawa is the only Colorless candidate who dies in Peltrola's assault]].
* TheRival: He ends up in this role with Angel. As the two Green Battalion candidates, only one is allowed to pass the Bailong Exams.
* RivalsTeamUp: During the Bailong Exams, Sojiro's forced to team up with Angel due to the two of them being put into a team as the two Green Battalion candidates. However, this breaks apart once it becomes clear that only one candidate is allowed to pass, and the candidates end up forming 5-on-5 "strong" vs. "weak" teams.
* TheTeam: He goes around and puts together a "strong team" consisting of what he believes to be the five strongest Colorless cadets during the Bailong Exams, which they face off against the weaker 5 Colorless reject team. His strong team consists of himself, Kai, Eigen, Angelica, and Renren.
* TokenAdult: He's clearly the oldest amongst D and the other Colorless recruits. Everyone else appears to be in their teenage years while Sojiro's a young adult.

One of the two Pink Battalion candidates amongst Hibiki's Colorless cadet group. Tsukasa is large, muscular, and completely full of himself, but is also rather dumb. Despite ending the exams on the winning cadet team, Tsukasa ends up not being picked by a Ranger Battalion due to everyone being turned off by his dumbness.
\
He would return during the climax of the Three Way Battle arc and dubbed himself the "White Ranger" before leading the other colorless candidates into battle. The title and leadership position wouldn't last long, however, as he would drop after he joined Hibiki's Neo Rangers
