!Metropolitan Police Department Special Investigation Unit
[[quoteright:210:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/specialinvestigationunit.png]]
The Special Investigation Unit, or [=SIU=], was formed in the aftermath of the Global Freeze incident in order to investigate any future cases that may involve Slowdowns. Despite that, the unit is only a small team and their office isn't even located at the Police HQ, but at a driving school. Not that stops them from fighting crime and kicking butt.
----
[[folder:General Tropes]]
* BadassCrew: Don't let their bickering and personal issues fool you - when they [[ArcWords get their gear on]], no case shall remain unsolved for long.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: They are rather strange, and are the last people you'd think would be able to combat the Roidmudes. Yet, once they get really serious, and with the help of a certain Kamen Rider, they can solve any case.
* CreatureHunterOrganization: Seeing as all Slowdowns are related to the Roidmudes, they can be seen as such.
* DecoyProtagonist: ''The Secret Mission Type [=TOKUJO=]'' mini-series is billed as an origin episode as to how each member of the SIU became a part of it, but the reasons for such are all hand waved at the end and the special is more about solving a cold case from the day of the Global Freeze and foreshadowing [[spoiler:how deeply the Roidmudes had infiltrated the Japanese government.]]
* FreudianTrio: The Riders, once Chase is reformed.
** TheKirk: Shinnosuke
** TheMcCoy: Go
** TheSpock: Chase
* IdiotBall: For some reason, none of them can figure out Shinnosuke is Drive even though he carries around Shift Cars, wears the Shift Brace in public, ''and drives the exact same car as Drive!''
** However, this could result from the lack of evidence Drive leaves, as well as the fact that no one can exactly snap a photo of Drive when a Slowdown is in progress...
* NoRespectGuy: #12 has shown us that the [=SIU=] are not exactly all that well-thought of...
* OddlySmallOrganization: The group organized to fight the Roimudes, a group of killer robots ''that almost took over the world'' consists of only six people.
* RagtagBunchOfMisfits: The team consist of a lazy bum, an otaku, a robotic woman, wacky scientist, an AgentScully extraordinare and a superstitious chief. The fact that their weirdness is what makes them a good unit is reminiscent of a [[Series/KamenRiderFourze certain high school club]].
* PoliceAreUseless: Played with. Within the rest of the police force, the Special Crime Unit is seen as a gathering of weirdos... [[RagtagBunchOfMisfits which is not entirely untrue]]. But there's no denying that, when on the case, they will succeed where everyone else would be stumped.
** That's not to say that the regular police are incompetent. On a few occasions, regular police officers have tried to stand up to the Roidmudes (e.g. reborn 007 while he was searching for his human host) but are hopelessly ill-equipped for the task. [[spoiler:And there is the small fact that one of the Roidmude bigwigs has infiltrated the government and has a lot of power over the police force and has frequently used memory alterations...]]
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: Played for laughs. When Jun accidentally makes himself an assassination target for the Shoot Roidmude during #34 by handcuffing himself to the android's original target, Kyu and Gen see no problem with abandoning the two as they're technically not members of the Special Crime Unit.
* TimePolice: Not their intended vocation, but members of the [=SIU=] find themselves contending with schemes to alter the time stream by the Roidmudes [[spoiler:and Shocker]] during some of the movies and TV specials they star in.
* WhoYouGonnaCall: For once, [[PoliceAreUseless the actual police!]]
* YouALLShareMyStory: ''The Secret Mission Type [=TOKUJO=]'' mini-series reveals that several members of the [=SIU=] were connected well before the unit's formation through the late Professor Odagiri.
** Lt. Otta was in charge of investigating the professor's death.
** Kyu was a student of his, [[spoiler:and it's implied he had his work plagiarized by him.]]
** Odagiri was Mr. Belt's colleague way back when he was still human.
** He met several times with Prof. Banno, [[spoiler:Kiriko and Go's father.]]

[[folder:Shinnosuke Tomari/Kamen Rider Drive]]
!!Shinnosuke Tomari/Kamen Rider Drive
!!!'''Portrayed by:''' Ryoma Takeuchi (live), Seiji Takaiwa (suit)
[[quoteright:210:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shinnosuke_tomari.png]]
Shinnosuke is a policeman of the Metropolitan Police Department. In his past, he was a hot-blooded elite detective, but he lost his motivation in the "Global Freeze" incident when he severely injured his partner. Shinnosuke was then "exiled" to the Special Crime Unit, traumatized by hurting his colleague and permanently removing him from the force.

Several months later he comes into the possession of the Tridoron, a car that can seemingly talk to him. He discovers that the voice is the Drive Driver, who encourages Shinnosuke to become the secret hero Kamen Rider Drive.

!!!Tropes that apply to him in general
* AccidentalMisnaming: He mistakenly addresses Captain [[Series/KamenRiderDouble Terui]] as "Captain Fukui"
* AccidentalMurder: [[DownplayedTrope Not outright murder]], but during the initial Global Freeze incident, he accidentally caused an explosion that would cause permanent injury to his partner.
* TheAce: He was [[spoiler:considered to be the best candidate for the role of Kamen Rider Drive by Jun and Krim]] because he possessed courage, intelligence, and a flexible mentality that would allow him to master the varied powers of the Shift Cars.
* BabiesEverAfter: At some point after the series' timeline, he has a son called Eiji who appears in ''Surprise Future''. And Eiji's dialogue about his mother implies that Shinnosuke settles down with Kiriko, which is confirmed in the series finale.
* BadassDriver: The first Kamen Rider to exclusively use a car as his main vehicle.
* BadassInANiceSuit: To an extent. In all the material seen thus far, he is commonly wearing a suit. Justified, as he's a police officer and his time on the show often has him on the job.
* BackFromTheDead: [[spoiler:After being killed off by 001/Freeze, Shinnosuke is revived via the Shift Tridoron Shift Car, which in turn unlocks Drive's SuperMode Type Tridoron]]
* BerserkButton:
** Getting innocent people, especially children, involved in an evil plan is going to ensure in an early demise.
** Any clue to his father's unsolved murder makes him lose his focus, especially if it possibly connects to the Roidmudes. Unfortunately exploited by the Roidmudes on at least two occasions: [[spoiler:he was once suspended for assaulting Brain (who had disguised himself as a special advisor to the police) and the second when he tries to confront 001.]]
** Albeit, he does share this with both Go and [[spoiler:Chase]], but try and involve Kiriko in whatever it is you're doing with malicious intent. Go on. We'll see how much longer you'll last.
* BettyAndVeronica: The Betty to Chase's Veronica for Kiriko's Archie. He won. [[BittersweetEnding Tragically.]]
* BreakTheBadass: Was an ace policeman before the series start, but due to an accident he lost all motivation in his work.
* BrilliantButLazy: A very good cop, but he tends to slack off during work. Once he [[CharacterTics straightens his tie]] though, [[LetsGetDangerous he'll show you why he was once part of the elite.]]
* BroughtDownToBadass: He's certainly not helpless when he's out of the suit, being an elite cop and a very smart detective. Best seen in #48, when despite [[spoiler:being unable to transform anymore]], Shinnosuke declares that [[BadassBoast he's still a cop, AND a Kamen Rider]].
* CameBackStrong: [[spoiler:Thanks to Shift Tridoron, he's brought back to life and has reached his true power with Type Tridoron.]]
* CharacterCatchphrase: "I'm done thinking about it!", "My brain's in top gear now'', and "You're coming along for a ride!"
** The first one has two meanings, depending on the context. Half of the time, he says it when he just wants to slack off. The other half of the time, it means that he's going to focus all his attention on [[LetsGetDangerous kicking Roidmude ass.]]
* CharacterTics: He'll adjust his tie, signaling that he's about to do something [[LetsGetDangerous really badass]].
** Just like [[Series/KamenRider555 Takumi]] and [[Series/KamenRiderDouble Shotaro]], he'll sometimes flick his right hand while opening and closing it during battle.
* CompositeCharacter: He seems to combine [[Series/KamenRiderDouble Shotaro and Phillip]] together. He has Shotaro's half-boiled personality and gut instinct combined with Phillip's intelligence and BatDeduction powers.
* ContrastingSequelMainCharacter: [[Series/KamenRiderGaim Kouta Kazuraba]], an earnest young adult is a former member of a dance group and a Kamen Rider who fights off both an invasive EldritchAbomination and a MegaCorp that exploits his contemporaries for their own gain, while Shinnosuke himself is a Kamen Rider who works within the police force and deals with solving crimes in regards to the MechanicalLifeforms. Also, while Kouta was a determined individual trying to figure out how to be mature and what it meant to be an adult, Shinnosuke is an adult who starts out the series very immature due to his depression and being burntout from an incident in his past.
* CoolCar: Tridoron provides him with his sweet transportation, his [[CoolSword Handle Sword]] & Door Gun, and his tires for weapons and special abilities. Tridoron itself is armed with lasers, transforms with him depending on his form, and can even be enhanced with Tires of its own.
* CowboyCop: Ironically, before the [[MyGreatestFailure Global Freeze]] he was TOO passionate about his work, with Hayase having to hold him back from severely injuring criminals as seen in episode Zero. Still, it demonstrates why he was almost accepted to be part of an elite unit before the freeze.
** Shinnosuke regains bits of these traits whenever clues leading to his father's death started to pop up. [[spoiler:Example - he nearly kills Heart when Shinnosuke tries to interrogate him for info on 001 in #26.]]
* DeadpanSnarker: In AND out of combat. He's probably the most sarcastic Rider, and being a lazy, cynical police officer instead of a hardened hero or an innocent WideEyedIdealist might have something to do with that. In combat, he's just like ComicBook/SpiderMan, constantly taking the chance to annoy, bicker with and insult his opponents with quips, puns and snarks.
* DefectiveDetective: Possess a brilliant mind that can solve any case with the smallest amount of leads... but only if he isn't in one of his depression-induced lazy sessions. Later episodes later give him bouts of judgment-impairing anger when clues to his father's killer start popping up.
* {{Dismotivation}}: Suffered from this hard during the interim between the Global Freeze and the events of the present. Ashamed of how he accidentally injured his old partner and believing his career to be all but over with him being transferred to the infamous Special Crime Unit, Shinnosuke spent two whole months slacking off, eating sweets, avoiding Kirkio, and ignoring how cool the Tridoron was and the fact that it seemed to be talking to him.
* DontThinkFeel: Aside from stopping himself from thinking too hard being [[CatchPhrase kind of his thing]], he only starts to wield the [[CoolSword Handle Sword]] well after trusting his instincts instead of asking about it. Sure enough, he immediately gets a Sword with a steering wheel that MIGHT get more powerful if you turn it, and the rest is history.
* TheDreaded: Because he took up the mantle of the original Drive, the Roidmudes gave him the Kamen Rider title, the masked warrior who destroys their kind.
* {{Expy}}:
** Cast in the same mold as [[Series/KamenRiderAgito Makoto Hikawa]] and [[Series/KamenRiderDouble Ryu Terui]] since both of them are Kamen Riders who worked within the boundaries of law enforcement instead of being a vigilante man like most Kamen Rider protagonists.
** With Mr. Belt, he's the show's [[Series/KnightRider Michael Knight]]. Just like the protagonist of ''Knight Rider'', he drives a super car as his main vehicle.
* ExcuseMeWhileIMultitask: Type Technic enables him to do this due to literally giving him eyes in the back of his head and advanced computer skills. He owns Roidmudes in his debut in that form while deactivating their device at the same time.
* GiverOfLameNames: [[LiteralMinded His naming sense]] consists of [[CaptainObvious calling an object exactly what it is]], much to Mr. Belt's displeasure.
* GoodIsNotNice: Since accidentally injuring his partner Hayase during the Global Freeze incident, he has become both a slacker and too passionate about his work, nearly committing acts of police brutality on several occasions. However, under his aloof attitude and the lazy facade is a strong bearing of justice inherited from his father, along with his philosophy to protect civilians at all cost.
* GreatDetective: Especially whenever he goes serious to his job as a Police Detective.
* TheGrinch: He doesn't like Christmas all too much, due to the fact that his birthday is on Christmas Eve and as a result, gets stiffed on presents every year.
* HappilyMarried: With Kiriko after ''Super Movie War Genesis''.
* HenshinHero: As Kamen Rider Drive.
* HeroicSacrifice: After failing to save Go's life three times in the ''Kamen Rider #4'' DVD, [[spoiler:he uses himself as a way to protect him, causing Shinnosuke to die in Go's place. He also protects Yuto from Yongou's Kick in one time loop.]]
* TheHero: Of the show.
* ImageSong: Spinning Wheel, which he shares with Go and Chase.
* KarmicJackpot: After Kamen Rider Drive saved and encouraged a truck driver from a monster attack, that same person later called the ambulance and saved Shinnosuke's life, not knowing he and Drive are the same person.
* KnightInSourArmor: Out of all the Phase 2 Heisei Riders, Shinnosuke is shockingly cynical compared to guys like Eiji, Gentaro, Haruto, Kouta, Takeru, Emu, and Sougo, reacting with calm acceptance when a human chooses to be evil of their own free will, which makes a lot of sense, since Shinnosuke was a cop before a Kamen Rider and his job was always to stop evil humans from the beginning. As the show goes on, however, it's shown that he can be just as idealistic as them.
* LegacyCharacter: As displayed through flashback, there was another Drive before him. Unfortunately, Protodrive couldn't destroy Roidmude cores, and it was presumed that he died in battle. [[spoiler:Until TheReveal.]]
** And of course, just like [[Series/KamenRiderFourze Gentaro]], he's one of the few Heisei Riders who's actually called a Kamen Rider in-series.
* {{Leitmotif}}: "Don't Lose Your Mind", which is about keeping yourself together no matter how hard things are or how lonely you feel. To a limited extent "SURPRISE-DRIVE" is mostly his theme as well.
* LetsGetDangerous: Whenever he adjusts his tie, he shifts into his GreatDetective persona, solves crime and kicks ass.
** Alternatively, as Drive, when his eyes start glowing, you know he'll start kicking ass.
* ManChild: He acts very immaturely for a person his age, doing things like throwing tantrums and getting upset that he does not get a lot of presents for his birthday. It's even lampshaded by Kyu.
* MeaningfulName: His surname Tomari derives from the Japanese word "tomaru", meaning "to stop", which has multiple layers of meaning: it represents him as a policeman (since he '''stops''' crime), the car theme of the series (as in "'''stop''' and go"), his personal state (how he tends towards laziness and apathy until something gets him fired up), and the Roidmudes' ability to '''stop''' time.
* MyGreatestFailure: Him accidentally injuring his old partner Hayase has made him suffer depression.
* NotQuiteDead: [[spoiler:Initially thought to be [=KIA=]'d in #32, it turned out Mr. Belt integrated his data into him, preventing decomposition, and acts as his life support.]]
* OfficialCouple: [[spoiler:Ends up with Kiriko, who he marries in ''Kamen Rider × Kamen Rider Ghost & Drive: Super Movie War Genesis''.]]
* OhCrap: He and Mr. Belt reacts this way when Chaser reveals in #5 he can use the Shift Cars by using poor Max Flare, who was only trying to help out.
* PaperThinDisguise: Not for him, but for Tridoron. How does he disguise his [[CoolCar distinctively designed personal car]] when he's out fighting Roidmudes as Kamen Rider? He just hides the police badge on its front.
* PerenniallyOvershadowedBirthday: Shinnosuke is a BirthdayHater because his birthday falls on Christmas Eve, which meant he's spent his whole life getting combined Christmas-birthday parties and presents. During the birthday depicted in the series, his FairCop partner Kiriko invites him out to dinner; he's happy at the prospect of a date, but is much less pleased when all their co-workers jump out and shout "Happy Birthday!"...and even less so when DaChief announces that this party will also serve as the office Christmas party.
* PhlebotinumRebel: He himself notes that he's fighting Roidmudes with tools and powers that come from the same source as them, Drive and the Shift Cars. Since Drive even has the power to cause Slowdown on normal people, the fact that he's a good person makes this all the more relevant.
* PreAsskickingOneLiner: My name is Kamen Rider Drive! *leans in towards the Roidmude* And you're coming along for the ride.
* RedOniBlueOni: The balanced, professional blue (one of two) to Go's reckless and flashy red. Although Go is consistently more easygoing while Shinnosuke tends to lose his cool rather quickly.
** In ''Episode 0'', his impulsiveness makes him the red to Hayase's blue.
** He also served as the red to Chase's stoic blue.
* RunningGag: Like [[Series/KamenRiderWizard Haruto]], he'll never finish his [[TrademarkFavoriteFood box of milk balls]].
* SheIsNotMyGirlfriend: After Chase asks whether or not Shinnosuke is in love with Kiriko, he denies it, coming up with a collection of excuses why the two would never be together outside of work. [[spoiler:[[LoveEpiphany Ultimately, it turns out he's definitely in love with Kiriko...and he didn't realize it until Chase asked him in the first place.]]]]
* SuperCop: He was already a badass elite cop before the show. And then he became a Kamen Rider...
* TakeUpMySword: A self-made one. Once he hears of Proto-Drive and Kiriko's admiration of him, he decides to succeed him and take up his mantle, officially [[BadassBoast declaring himself]] [[TitleDrop Kamen Rider Drive]] before [[CurbStompBattle stomping 010 into dust.]]
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: He'll often be seen eating milk balls when off the job, [[TheSlacker which is often]] early on. As the show progressed, he eats them less and less, only eating them as a sign he's stumped on something.
* TranquilFury: How he unlocks Type Technic.
-->'''Shinnosuke''': It's strange... I never thought I could get so mad that it would clear my head. Now you get to face cool justice.
* UnknowinglyInLove: Played for laughs when he and Chase are at the cafeteria drinking with the latter asking the former if he's in love with Kiriko. This causes Shinnosuke to drop his drink and loudly deny it but Chase believes it because he saw him spying on him and Kiriko at the rooftop. Shinnosuke still denies it and points outs her flaws such as being violent to him. When Kiriko shows up to discuss about the case, Shinnosuke gets distracted by looking at her but leaves immediately which conforms Chase's suspicion. As they leave, Shinnosuke begins to realize that he does have feelings for Kiriko after remembering the times they spent together while on duty.
-->'''Shinnosuke''': Now I see it...I really do have feelings for her...I have all along...
* WhatYouAreInTheDark: When alone he's face to face with his father's killer, who is taunting him to take the shot [[spoiler:Shinnosuke keeps his cool until his backup arrives]].
* YankTheDogsChain: He thought he got a date with Kiriko in #11. Turns out it was just his Birthday/Christmas/New Year's End party.
* YouFightLikeACow: Likes to crack wise during his fights.
* YouKilledMyFather: Once it becomes clear that the Roidmudes were involved with the death of his father, this becomes Shinnosuke's BerserkButton, which the androids gleefully keep pressing to their advantage.

!!!Tropes exclusive to him as Kamen Rider Drive

[[caption-width-right:210:''Drive: Type Tridoron!'']]
* AllAsiansWearConicalStrawHats: Not straw in this case, but Type Fruit gives Drive one that [[http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8kO2Xx71GTw/VHRpwk2_84I/AAAAAAAAGrM/28eJXQZbr4Q/s1600/1920527_294571747399978_1301496266008700577_n.jpg looks like an orange slice.]]
* AllYourPowersCombined: Type Tridoron gives him the abilities of all the Shift Cars, which are put into groups of three (each group having their own theme), such as Attack 1.2.3 combining the powers of the hotrods Max Flare, Funky Spike, Midnight Shadow.
* BareFistedMonk: Though Drive has access to a variety of weapons, in fights he mostly uses his punches, kicks and grapples mixed with the Shift Cars' powers. Justified, as Shinnosuke was trained as a police officer and thus has hand to hand training.
* TheBerserker: Type Dead Heat can cause Shinnosuke to lose control if used for too long. [[DownplayedTrope Unusually for the trope]], however, he doesn't lose his mind when he goes berserk, but rather, [[WeaponWieldsYou his armor goes wonky]].
* CoolSword: The Handle Sword. Despite [[SugarWiki/FunnyMoments Mr. Belt's disapproval of the rather sad name]], he can turn the wheel to power up the sword with TURN! attacks, and after three turns he can perform U-TURN! attacks that allow him to slide across the battlefield. If he honks the horn instead, he performs the [[SpinAttack "Drift Rotation"]]. By loading Shift Cars into the back of the hilt, he can perform [[FinishingMove Full Throttle attacks]].
* DeadlyUpgrade:
** Type Dead Heat runs the risk of [[WeaponWieldsYou losing control]] and making the Drive System out-of-control, causing him to attack anyone in the area.
** Type Formula has its issues as well; Shinnosuke sprains his neck simply by using it's Full Throttle due to the massive g-force he was forced to endure. The Trailer-Hou, Mantarn F01, Jacky F02, and Sparner F03 Shift Cars are all made so that his body can last while in this form without overexerting himself.
* FinishingMove: By turning Mr. Belt's Advanced Ignition, pressing the Igniter on the Shift Brace, and lifting the Shift Car currently in place once, Drive can perform "Full Throttle" attacks. He probably has the most of any Rider: He has one for every Shift Car, and even finishers for his Handle Sword and Door Gun.
** '''[=SpeeDrop=]''': Type Speed's Rider Kick. In certain situations, Tridoron circles around the Roidmude and Drive while Drive faces away from the monster as tires surround it, spinning rapidly. Once they close in and shoot the monster forward, Drive jumps at the Tridoron and kicks off of it, then strikes the Roidmude, which sends him back to Tridoron, [[SpamAttack which happens multiple times]] until Drive comes in for the final kick. All other times, the [=SpeeDrop=] is basically a normal Rider Kick.
** '''[=JustiSmash=]''': Type Speed Hunter's Rider Punch. Beforehand, Drive would imprison the monster with the Justice Cage, then tires appear and shoot Drive towards the cage, then does a loop-de-loop, and right when he's about to hit the cage, it goes away, allowing Drive to [[MegatonPunch give the monster a powerful jab]]. During the fight with 005, the Monster can combine with the Justice Cage, allowing Drive to jump on it to crush whatever was trapped.
** '''Million Attack''': Type Speed Vegas's finisher. Drive combines the Drum Shields [[BodyHorror with himself]] to join with the Dream Vegas Tire, and spin very much like a slot machine. Whatever the icon the wheels land on gets him the appropriate response, with [[LuckyNumberSeven all 7s]] getting him to shoot out a boatload of gold coins.
** '''Drift Slash''': The finisher used by the Handle Sword, the effects of which vary based on the Shift Car used. Dream Vegas used in conjunction with three Turn slashes hits the foe for Triple 7, destroying the target.
** '''[=PerfecShot=]''': The finisher used by the Door Gun, the effects of which vary based on the Shift Car used. Using the Shift Speed Car allows Drive to fire five shots and creating a giant tire out of energy, Drive jumps into the air and kicks the tire into the shots, enveloping them in flame and sending them straight into his foe.
** '''[=CannonCrete=]''': Type Speed Mixer's [[InNameOnly finisher]]. It fires a salvo of quick dry cement, with emphasis on "quick", as it hardens upon contact with anything solid.
** '''[=MonsCrunch=]''': Type Speed Monster's finisher. First, a tongue comes out of the Massive Monster Tire and brings it close to Drive so he can [[ManBitesMan mash the target with giant energy projections of the Monster]].
** '''Flare Stream''': Type Speed Flare's Rider Shooting. This fires a [[MoreDakka barrage of]] [[KillItWithFire fireballs]] at the target.
** '''Unknown''': Type Speed Doctor's [[InNameOnly finisher]]. It speeds up Drive's healing rate and removes all ailments from his body... too bad he'll experience excruciating pain at the same time.
** '''[=DriRumble=]''': Type Wild Dump's Rider Punch. This has Drive equip the Rumble Smasher and slams it at the opponent with the drill going off at high speeds to bore into the foe.
** '''Drift Rotation''': An alternative Rider Slash with the Handle Sword. Turning the wheel on the Handle Sword followed by honking the horn as Type Wild, Drive spins rapidly, cleaving through his opponent with several spins around them. As Type Speed (as seen in the Ninninger vs. Drive special), this appears as a enhanced spin slash.
** '''Rescue Down''': Type Technic Braver's Rider Kick. The Ladder Expander grabs the target and pulls them in towards Drive to kick. This finisher is first seen in the Kamen Rider #4 video series.
** '''Dead Heat Drop''': Type Dead Heat and Dead Heat Flare's Rider Kick. Drive is surrounded by the Dead Zone aura and comes in for the kill, while Dead Heat Flare's version is with [[IncendiaryExponent flames]] added to the attack.
** '''Formula Drop''': Type Formula's Rider Kick. Drive glows blue and rushes in for a powerful kick, with the X-Fan Booster helping with the momentum of the attack. This is first seen in Drive's fight against Kamen Rider #4.
** '''Trailer Impact''': The finisher of the Trailer-Hou. To activate it, two Shift Cars must be loaded inside of it while the Formula Shift Car is placed in a special slot above the barrel of the cannon. The finisher slightly depends on the Shift Cars loaded inside, with the most common being a powerful beam of energy.
** '''Trailer Big Impact''': The finisher of the Trailer-Hou as Type Tridoron. To activate it, the Shift Tridoron must be loaded into it while Drive uses any Type Change Shift Car except for Shift Formula onto the special slot above the barrel. The resulting blast results in Drive shooting an energized Tridoron itself, but in doing so, transforms from Type Tridoron into the Type that is provided by which Type Change Shift Car he inserted beforehand.
* FusionDance: Of the Power Booster / TwoBeingsOneBody variety. Shinnosuke combines with Mr. Belt, Tridoron, and all of the Shift Cars to become Type Tridoron, with Mr. Belt taking over sometimes.
* HandCannon: The Trailer-Hou, usually reserved for Type Formula and Type Tridoron. This time, [[RuleOfThree Mr. Belt has begrudgingly accepted the fact Shinnosuke would name it]], Drive can fire powerful shots like a shot gun from this weapon. Like the others, the Trailer-Hou has a slot for Shift Cars to perform Full Throttle attacks. Unusually, it has multiple purposes.
*** Type Formula has it where he has to load the Shift Formula Shift Car into the Shift Landing Slot, located on the top of the barrel, then loads two Shift Cars into the chamber of the cannon, then fire a blast of energy, the loaded Shift Cars altering the effects of the blasts somewhat.
*** Type Tridoron has it where he has to load any that isn't Shift Formula into the slot, then loads Shift Tridoron into the chamber, getting Drive to fire an energized Tridoron at the opponent, transforming into what Shift Car he had used to put into the slot prior to the blast.
* LuckilyMyShieldWillProtectMe: He tends to use Justice Hunter's jail cell as one. As Type Wild, he tends to use the tire on his shoulder as a shield as well. The Door Gun also has a function like this.
* MidSeasonUpgrade: Type Dead Heat and Type Formula.
* OffhandBackhand: Type Technic literally has eyes in the back of his head, so he's a master at doing this. Special notice goes to its debut where it deactivates the monster of the week's device ''while'' shooting over his shoulder to hold them off.
* SpamAttack: Drive's default Type Speed form is all about this: Its special attack, Turbo Smash, sweeps the enemy into the air and allows him to perform RapidFireFisticuffs, while his [[DivingKick Rider Kick called the SpeeDrop]] has him trapping the enemy in a whirlwind of kicks from every angle.
* SpeedSmartsAndStrength: Drive's three primary forms specialize in these.
** Type Speed is, as the name suggests, specialized in high-speed combat.
** Type Wild is the strong form, sacrificing speed for higher physical strength and better defenses.
** Type Technic is the smart form, giving Shinnosuke AwesomenessByAnalysis as well as the power to see things behind him.
* StuffBlowingUp: His first use of the then-incomplete Type Dead Heat involved a lot of spontaneous explosions, none of which seemed to have any connection to anything - they just popped up around him whenever he punched something.
* TimeStandsStill: In #6, Belt-san reveals to Shinnosuke that Drive can also cause Density Shifts. However, he never uses it in the entire show's run.

The developer of the Drive System and the Tridoron, who was also was involved in the creation of the Roidmudes. He was killed by Heart 15 years before the story begins, but he transferred his mind into the Drive Driver before his death. Shinnosuke often calls him "Mr. Belt"; a nickname chosen before Krim divulged his identity.

----
* AffectionateNickname: Shinnosuke likes to call him "Mr. Belt" (Belt-san).
* BigShutUp: [[spoiler:When he calls out Banno for torturing 002 and terminates their partnership]].
* BrainUploading: He used to be Krim Steinbelt, but was killed by the Roidmudes (with one of them becoming Heart) and had his mind transferred to the belt, in order to fight them. [[spoiler:This was also used by Banno, after he stole Krim's mind upload technologies]].
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: Possibly after [[spoiler:Roidmude 004 kidnaps him while Shinnosuke is weakened when Banno suddenly betrayed his own son, Go, Mr. Belt and Shinnosuke, and before Shinnosuke arrived once Banno completed the copy of Drive Driver for his use might be related to ''Surprise Future''. Apparently to be true, as Banno had 004 implanted Mr. Belt with the "special" chip that makes him evil in ''Surprise Future'', the same chip that turned the Roidmudes evil.]]
* ButNowIMustGo: [[spoiler:He seals himself, the Mach Driver, the Shift Cars, the Signal Bikes, the Trailer-Hou, Tridoron and both bikes underneath the Drive Pit, but not before bidding farewell to Shinnosuke.]]
* CharacterTics: When [[spoiler:possessing Shinnosuke in Type Tridoron, Krim often coughs into his hand]].
* CowardlyLion: A braver example than most. When he feared a Roidmude uprising was imminent, he created his own android body to put his consciousness into so he could personally continue the fight against the rogue robots even after his death. However, his will proved too weak to activate ZZZ (in comparison to that of Zoruku "Ultimate Lupin" Tojo's, a master thief who was decades older than him). He then tried to delegate the responsibility of stopping the Roidmudes to [[spoiler:his other secret Roidmude, 000]] aka Proto-Drive, but his rigid methodology and his partner's stiff adherence to his directives resulted in them being outmaneuvered by the more fluid mental and physical evolutions of their enemies. After they team up, Shinnosuke helps Krim overcome his shame, doubts and fears, encourages the scientist to take more chances and think outside the box, culminating in him [[spoiler:joining the fray (in a fashion) as one of the two consciousnesses controlling Type Tridoron during battles.]]
* DeathIsCheap: Krim dies six separate times over the course of the show and movies, to the point of it nearly being a RunningGag. It may be a bit of commentary on [[Series/KamenRiderDouble the habit]] [[Series/KamenRiderOOO its predecessors had]] [[Series/KamenRiderFourze of creating drama]] [[Series/KamenRiderWizard by killing the protagonist's non-human partner]] [[Series/KamenRiderGaim in the last act]].
* {{Deuteragonist}}: Shares this position with Kiriko. Per WordOfGod, the idea for the two was to split that "buddy" role between two characters, with Krim functioning as Shinnosuke's partner as Drive.
* EmptyShell: In the BadFuture, [[spoiler:Eji Tomari uses a Drive Driver that is exactly like his father's except it doesn't have Krim in it as the scientist was killed years before from Banno corrupting his systems.]]
* EquippableAlly: He built and, as a contingency for himself, ''is'' the Drive Driver.
* {{Expy}}: [[http://kamenriderdrive.tumblr.com/post/97153414720/a-little-bit-of-info-from-the-staff-cross-talk Explicitly stated]] by WordOfGod to be one to [[Series/KnightRider KITT.]]
* FusionDance: [[spoiler:With Shinnosuke in Type Tridoron.]]
* FutureMeScaresMe: In [[spoiler:''Surprise Future''. Later turns out to be Paradox Roidmude, who mimics his appearance]].
* GadgeteerGenius: As Krim. These days, he can barely do anything physically, so he leaves the building to Rinna.
* GratuitousEnglish: He often interjects English word and phrases. Being a [[TransformationTrinket Rider transformation device]], at this point this is a given. It also helps that the [[http://kamenrider.wikia.com/wiki/Chris_Peppler VA's an English speaker]].
* HesBack: [[spoiler:Twice]].
** [[spoiler:From ''Movie War Full Throttle'']]
---> [[spoiler:'''Belt-san''': Okay Shinnouske! Start Our Engine!]]
** [[spoiler:Then Suprise Future]]
* IdiotBall: [[spoiler: [[UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom Yes, Belt-san, tell Chase he doesn't need human emotions]], [[TemptingFate its not like a Roidmude can come and give him...]]]]
* LargeHam: Has NoIndoorVoice for every single transformation announcement or special attack. Given that he's not just a pre-programmed voice, he's also (presumably) consciously doing this every time.
** In ''Surprise Future'' it is shown that he can talk to Shinnosuke while the Trailer-Hou's announcement is being spoken, so either he can talk with two voices at once or the transformation and special attack's announcement are pre-programmed
* LonelyAtTheTop: Krim was a top scientist and one of the chief researchers behind the creation of the Roidmudes. Unfortunately, his devotion to his research didn't leave him much time for dating; he was single at the time of his untimely death during the Global Freeze.
* MyGreatestFailure: His role (as Krim Steinbelt) in the creation of the Roidmudes. While he didn't create the Roidmudes, he created the power source they use. He also allowed the creator of the Roidmudes to use said power source, [[UnfinishedUntestedUsedAnyway even though Krim knew that the power source could cause Density Shift.]] It is later revealed that [[spoiler:in their past he heard a ruckus coming from Banno's lab and finds out Banno's recent madness, Heart in the appearance of the investor who rejected Banno's project because of the risks and turned Heart into a puppet for his own satisfaction [[WeUsedToBeFriends causing their partnership]] [[ScrewThisImOuttaHere to fall apart and never trust Banno again]].]]
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: [[spoiler:Post-series stuff repeatedly shows sealing all of his tech away wasn't his best idea in the long run, as Shinnosuke ''keeps needing'' his Drive powers as new threats arise, and thus either has to resort to other means or Belt-san has to get brought out somehow.]]
* OhCrap: He and Shinnosuke reacts this way when Chaser reveals in #5 he can use the Shift Cars by using poor Max Flare, who was only trying to help out.
** This is also his reaction to the appearance of Heart. [[spoiler:[[HeroKiller Because Heart killed Krim Steinbelt and Proto-Drive.]]]]
** As well as 001.
* PostMortemOneLiner: Nice Drive!
* PosthumousCharacter: As a human. He was killed by the Roidmudes and [[BrainUploading uploaded his mind into the Drive Driver to "survive".]]
* PreAssKickingOneLiner: [[ArcWords Start your engine!]]
* ProperlyParanoid: His unwillingness to go public with Drive's identity or inform the police that the Kamen Rider is working for them might cause Shinnosuke frustration, but he has good reason. [[spoiler:After all, the last time he shared technology with someone he thought he could trust, it resulted in the creation of the Roidmudes and the death of a lot of people, himself included.]] And as he points out to Shinnosuke, the Roidmudes could have eyes and ears anywhere, [[spoiler:which happened with the Roidmude who copied Kyu (albeit benevolent), and with 001 who took the form of a government official with oversight over the police. Then again when he met Banno, who is now in tablet form, Mr. Belt thought Banno's darkness was still intact ever since he found out Banno had been abusing Heart before they were killed by the Roidmudes, and warned his allies not to trust him on the chance he's using his former colleagues and allies, including his own family to gather enough data to enact his evil plan (which resulted in stealing Roidmude #006's body to become Kamen Rider Gold Drive after Mr. Belt was kidnapped by #004)]].
* PropheticNames: We have a man named Stein''belt'' becoming a belt. [[LampshadeHanging Shinnosuke notes this once he learns "Belt-san's" real name in #10.]]
** The "Stein" part of the name is pretty prophetic as well, considering his involvement in making monsters that TurnedAgainstTheirMasters
* RemoteBody: He can use the Type Change Shift Cars in this manner. Same with Tridoron.
** He is also able to do this when Shinnouske obtains Type Tridoron.
* RidiculouslyHumanRobot: He can sunbathe! He can cough! He can even drink milk (through the mouthplate on his display monitor, no less) with his only issue being that he needs a straw!
* RobotBuddy: An intelligent belt-like device that aids Shinnosuke.
* RunningGag: Keeps telling Shinnosuke things that should have been nice to know ''after'' they happen.
** Averted and joked about when he warns Shinnouske about the danger using Type Formula presents.
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: [[spoiler:After witnessing Banno torture Heart in the most cruel ways he can think of, he ends his friendship with Banno. [[ItsAllAboutMe Banno thought he was joking.]]]]
* SecretKeeper: Something that causes increasing amounts of grief for Shinnosuke. He also keeps secrets from Kiriko, such as her brother being a Kamen Rider, until she learned and never thought her brother became a Rider after their reunion. Also keeps the recent revelation of Shinnosuke's true feelings towards Kiriko between Shinnosuke and himself.
* ShipperOnDeck: Thinks that Shinnosuke and Kiriko would be good together.
* SuperPrototype: PlayedWith. The Drive Driver and Shift Brace are much more cumbersome (and far more picky when it comes to their users) than the Mach Driver Honoh which can access a majority of the powers afforded by the Shift Cars by itself. However, it has a higher storage capacity to accommodate a data packet as substantial as a complete digital copy of a person's consciousness such as Krim's. This is why [[spoiler:Banno]] chooses to duplicate it over its technically more advanced successor. That, and it would cheese Krim [[spoiler:his old colleague]] off.
* TransformationTrinket: Works together with the Shift Brace to transform Shinnosuke and give him his powers.
* TrueCompanions: Views Shinnosuke as one. He's furious when he awakens from his near-fatal clash with Heart, chastising him for thinking that he could be replaced, since while there can always be another Drive, there can be only one Shinnosuke. And he makes him promise that if he ''should'' ever die, that Mr. Belt is right there with him, fighting until the end.
** This is also evident during the standoff with Heart. While Drive was trying to take off Mr.Belt, he wouldn't allow himself to be unbuckled.
** As the show goes on, he supports Shinnosuke even when he makes decisions that Mr. Belt might disagree with. Despite his insistence on Drive's secret identity, [[spoiler:he backs Shinnosuke up when he decides to transform in public to protect Hayase and the hospital from Sword Roidmude.]]
* VillainOverride: A heroic example. Mr. Belt can remotely control the Tridoron with or without Shinnosuke's consent.
** [[spoiler:Became a villainous example during ''Surprise Future''.]]
* VisualPun: With a car based Rider, what else could this guy be based on but an actual seat-belt?

The heroine of Drive, she is a cop belonging to the Special Crime Unit of the Metropolitan Police Department. She accomplishes her jobs and assignments mechanically, and her apparent reluctance to smile or laugh can make her seem frightening. In reality, she knows the true identity of Kamen Rider Drive, and she takes an active part in the fights as Shinnosuke's right-hand (wo)man.
----
* ActionGirl: Helps Drive out in battle.
* AscendedFangirl: Admired the original Drive for saving her, but due to his death she instead works on taking care of his successor.
* BabiesEverAfter: Eiji Tomari (Shinnosuke's son from ''Surprise Future'') says his mother rarely smiles and only does so if she's glad, heavily implying she eventually marries Shinnosuke and gives birth to Eiji. This is confirmed in the series finale.
* BadassNormal: She was able to fight off three Roidmude before showing Shinnosuke how to transform... and she's just a normal human being.
* BadassFamily: Kamen Rider Mach (this season's Secondary Rider) is also her younger brother, Go.
* BigEater: She's able to eat a large bowl of ramen in one sitting, as well as a giant kakiage. This trait is one of the reasons Shinnosuke [[SheIsNotMyGirlfriend doesn't consider her girlfriend material]]. [[spoiler:[[AwLookTheyReallyDoLoveEachOther He's just fooling himself.]]]]
* Character{Catchphrase: "I'm taking you in!"
* ClothesMakeTheSuperman: In #16, she gets a pair of boots that [[KickChick dramatically improves her kicking strength]].
* ColdHam: She is perpetually stoic even when making car puns or performing over the top action.
* TheComicallySerious: Her exaggerated stoicism generates most of her humor.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: A low-key example. Before the start of the series she encountered future Paint Roidmude. She was rescued by Proto-Drive, but because he died in battle her admiration for him pushes her to make sure Shinnosuke is a worthy successor for him. When she encounters that same Roidmude again she freaks out.
** Apparently as a child before the Paint Roidmude in her first adult year, her father has [[spoiler:did something wrong on his own wife, her mother]], witness how [[spoiler:sad]] her mother is, [[spoiler:causing both couple divorced for some bad reason Banno has on his own family, and both Kiriko and her mother should keep a young Go a secret, due to him too young to understand, until when he's finally grown as an adult, it's time to tell him a truth, shared to Shinnosuke and Krim about Banno's dark past, just in case if she's suddenly not around, or missing or kidnapped by the enemies]].
* DepletedPhlebotinumShells: In #16, she gets special bullets that can penetrate a Roidmude's armor.
* {{Deuteragonist}}: Shares this position with Krim. Per WordOfGod, the idea for the two was to split that "buddy" role between two characters, with Kiriko functioning as such for Shinnosuke's partner in police work.
* DullSurprise: Averted. While her character has this reputation, Rio Uchida is actually extremely expressive.
* FairCop: She's a good looking Policewoman.
* GoodIsNotNice: She is a scary and almost robot-like stoic young woman who's EstablishingCharacterMoment involves handcuffing Shinnosuke for a minor offence but she is still unambiguously heroic and her opinion on Shinnosuke improves as the show goes on.
* HappilyMarried: To Shinnosuke after ''Super Movie War Genesis''. In Drive Saga 2, she is currently taking a maternity leave to takes care of the newborn Eiji and seems pretty content with it.
* HiddenDepths: She's actually a pretty good artist, though most of her drawings are just a way of keeping track of Shinnosuke's habits.
** Her heavy pressure on Shinnosuke is due to her being saved by the original Drive. Since SHE can't become the Kamen Rider, she wants his successor to act like he does.
* HypercompetentSidekick: Far more focused and driven than Shinnosuke, and doesn't suffer from the limitations of being a belt.
* KickChick: Once she gains the Rear Cowl Boots, she can perform a Rider Kick on her own.
* LockedOutOfTheLoop: [[spoiler:Kiriko has no idea Banno's her father and Go guilt trips Shinnosuke into keeping it a secret. Then after Gou is brainwashed Chase lies to her, telling her that Go isn't brainwashed because he misinterpreted some advice Shinnosuke told him. Although in the end he was telling the truth though he didn't know it at the time.]]
* NotSoAboveItAll: Anything that has to do with Shinnosuke actually taking his job seriously has her smiling, and when she gets the Rear Cowl Boots she imitates Shinnosuke's {{Character Tic|s}} and even calls the attack a Rider Kick.
* OfficialCouple: [[spoiler:Ends up with Shinnosuke and marries him in ''Kamen Rider × Kamen Rider Ghost & Drive: Super Movie War Genesis''.]]
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: She is understandably terrified when she confronts the Paint Roidmude, due to the trauma she suffered when he attacked her in the past.
* ThePowerOfTrust: She never lost faith in Chase's innate goodness and sense of justice. [[spoiler:Her undying trust in Chase pays off when he saves her life from Sword and becomes a Kamen Rider again in order to live up to being the KnightInShiningArmor she saw him as back when he was Proto-Drive.]]
* ProperTightsWithASkirt: As a model police officer, this is a part of her uniform. But when [[MsFanservice it isn't...]]
* RefusedByTheCall: Tried transforming into Drive after getting acquainted with Mr. Belt, but didn’t have the proper demeanour to use it. So they went after Shinnosuke.
* RescueRomance: #16 suggests she had a crush on Proto-Drive. Voice appeared as the man of Kiriko's dreams. The Roidmude was surprised to learn the Kiriko was seeing ''Chase''.
* SecretKeeper: Is the only member of the [=SIU=] that knows Drive's true identity in the beginning. Later, Rinna joins this crowd, followed by the rest of the [=SIU=] after #25.
** [[spoiler:Apparently she has an AwfulTruth about her not so DarkAndTroubledPast in her childhood. When she asked her mother about her father's whereabout, didn't intentionally mean to sadden her mother, realize that Banno is an [[AbusiveParents Abusive Parent]], she won't speak to Go about their father's darkness, due to him was still young to understand at his age. She reveals this to Shinnosuke and Mr. Belt]].
* SheCleansUpNicely: Not that she looks unattractive in her police uniform, but when in [[Recap/KamenRiderDriveEp8WhatIsTheSecretThatDwellsInTheHeart #8]] she meets Hayase for the first time in a civilian outfit, she looks ''really good''.
** In [[Recap/KamenRiderDriveEp11WhoCanPreventADarkChristmasEve #11]], she dresses up for the Christmas party and, needless to say, '''hot !'''
** Now that her brother is in the cast, we'll probably be seeing a lot more of her in civilian clothing. LimitedWardrobe? Not any more.
* ShipTease: With both Shinnosuke and Chase, though the case with Chase seems to be more along the lines of hero worship.
** [[spoiler:In the finale, it is confirmed she ends up with Shinnosuke.]]
* TheStoic: Has a cold personality that borders on robotic.
** NotSoStoic: Shows this in #4 when facing her trauma caused by Paint.
* {{Tsundere}}: Denies any allegations of smiling, even if she is legitimately happy.
* WhenSheSmiles: Shinnosuke is mindblown whenever she turns her lips up, and she vehemently denies it when it happens. It DOES look cute.

She is a scientist in electronic physics and an honorary member of the Special Crime Unit of the Metropolitan Police Department. She performs studies of the Roidmudes' powers, and helps Shinnosuke's investigations as the person in charge of the mechanics. She's also soon revealed to be the resident technician of the Drive Pit, helping to develop and maintain Drive's equipment. She is single and is rather impatient on the inside. She also has a bright personality, and is the mood maker of the [=SIU=].
----

* GadgeteerGenius: Built devices that can detect the "Density Shifts"; and later ones that can counteract the effect. She also created a lot of Drive's equipment, and specialized bullets and kick-enhancing boots for Kiriko.
* GeniusDitz: She normally acts like a flighty GenkiGirl, but her inventions actually ''work'', she managed to manipulate multiple police divisions while acting as a FakeDefector, and she developed Drive's weaponry. That said, her inventions do tend to have some rather ''odd'' quirks to them, which the characters often comment on.
* GenkiGirl: She's always in good spirits and with a smile on her face. The only times she isn't is when she's brought down by relationship issues, making upgrades for Drive and Mach causing havoc on her sleep schedule, and when she was run ragged in #4.
* HiddenDepths: She wants a romantic relationship; partly over concerns about [[OldMaid getting past her prime]] and partly because she's not completely over a prior breakup.
* LabcoatOfScienceAndMedicine: Wears one being the resident scientist.
* MadScientist: Because of their creators' love of motorized vehicles, Krim and Harley's inventions are shaped like cars and bikes, but otherwise operate normally once activated. Rinna takes the gimmick to bizarre extremes with inventions like the Door Gun (which can only be reloaded by opening AND closing the door on its side), Handle Sword (which needs to have its wheel spun to activate its finisher), and Signal Ax (which requires the user to wait for a short period of time before they can use its finisher like they would in an actual street crossing) among others. Even among her fellow LargeHam inventors, Rinna is noticeably more excitable and manic.
* OldMaid: #16 and #17 show that she's worried about becoming one. [[spoiler:This is the driving force of her conflict with Genpachiro during the Heart half of ''Kamen Rider Drive Saga: Kamen Rider Mach/Kamen Rider Heart'' because he's dragging his feet when it comes to proposing to her.]]
* SecretKeeper: As it turns out, she's actually Drive's head mechanic.
** SecretSecretKeeper: Shinnosuke is initially unaware of this.
%% * ShipTease: With Genpachiro.

He is a network student and an honorary member of the [=SIU=]. He is a digital expert who possesses a huge amount of network-related books, and he is talented at information-gathering. His occult hobbies enter slightly dangerous areas, and his approach towards cases is sometimes frowned upon by the whole unit.
----
* AnimalMotifs: Bats. He has poor eyesight, shrieks a lot, stays up late at night, and the Bat Viral Core soundbite is played whenever he does or says something acutely weird. Fittingly, he's replaced by Bat-type Roidmude 072 for a brief period of time after the Christmas episode.
* BerserkButton: If anything causes him to lose his valuable data, he'll become hellbent on getting revenge.
* ButtMonkey: If it isn't Genpachiro getting jokes at his expense, it's Kyu-chan. Best seen back in the Paint Roidmude case, where he [[FunnyBackgroundEvent falls off the ladder he was on at a snail's pace]] and after the Gunman case, where he gets assaulted by two girls [[DisproportionateRetribution over wanting info from Go]].
* CreepyDoll: Often seen with stuffed dolls from Murmur Mansion, an anime he is a fan of.
* {{Doppelganger}}: Had one in Roidmude #072. He ended up portraying the real Kyu perfectly to the point where he could have been working inside the [=SIU=]'s office and the others wouldn't have known about it. [[spoiler:He was ultimately killed by Medic for being "defective".]]
* GeekPhysiques: He's not exactly fit and tends to tire easily when doing work in the field.
* HiddenDepths: Sure, he's eccentric and a bit creepy, but his heart is good enough that when a Roidmude copied him, it ''turned good.''
* MeaningfulName: Kyu Saijo comes from the Japanese word for "Superior" (''Saijoukyuu''). Turns out it's not his real name.
* NerdGlasses: They fit nicely with his otaku persona.
* OnlineAlias: "Kyu Saijo" is apparently this. His real name is Kenta Imai.

He is the section chief of the Special Crime Unit of the Metropolitan Police Department. He is a political centrist who really hates trouble, and orders Kiriko to keep an eye on Shinnosuke because of his habit to skip work. He is interested in fortune-telling and feng shui, and the color of his necktie matches the lucky color of each day.
----
* AsideComment: He does this a lot.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: At times the Chief seems like he's far more competent than he lets on. In #6, he tells Shinnosuke about the driver whom he had saved as Drive earlier, had returned the favor, returning his motivation and allowing him to activate Type Wild. And he did this JUST when it was most needed.
** In #11, he seemingly has a random conversation with a friend about some favor that he was owed, while Shinnosuke and Kyu are discussing how to get access to a potential lead who's in prison. Turns out that ''whoever'' it was was able to get Shin time to interview the Copycat Pirate, whom had information in Volt's case. As Kyu put it afterward: "He's an enigma, wrapped in a mystery."
** Turns out [[spoiler:he's a trusted colleague of Krim Steinbelt and knew Shinnosuke was Drive the whole time.]]
* TheCaptain: Of the [=SIU=].
* LargeHam: Has a speech quirk, as well as tends to make melodramatic or exaggerated motions.
* ObfuscatingStupidity: It's unclear how much of his quirkiness is real, but [[spoiler:he's been in on the loop the whole time without ''anyone'' but Krim knowing, and set up the [=SIU=] for the express purpose of allowing Drive to work within the police.]]
** From #26 onward, some of his quirks are still there but much less exaggerated, suggesting that he intentionally played them up to divert suspicion.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness:
** Shinnosuke and Kyu were completely floored when he shows off his office politics skills in #11.
** In #33, when Nira tells him to stop joking and try to [[spoiler:find a new Kamen Rider, the chief just breaks down, leaving the goofy persona for that moment.]]
* PutOnABus: Gone on vacation from #16 on, during which he's replaced with a cardboard cutout. Kiriko notes in #18 that he was only supposed to be out for one week, but by that point had been gone for three. He apparently spent some time playing golf and currying favor with his superiors, allowing the team a little leeway in later missions.
* SecretSecretKeeper: When Drive's identity is publicly exposed, it turns out [[KnewItAllAlong he already knew]]! He kept this from Shinnosuke, Kiriko, and Rinna.
* TeamDad: He most often finds himself playing peacemaker. #3 even had him go into fortune-telling to help dissuade conflict.
* SignatureDevice: His flip phone.

He is the assistant police inspector belonging to the Metropolitan Police Department's first investigation division. A very active detective, he has been dispatched from his division to liaison with the Special Crime Unit. He thinks that the work of the [=SIU=] is completely terrible, mocking it as an "occult club". He has a sharp tongue, but he is a competent detective whose methods surprisingly match Shinnosuke's. In reality, there is an childish side to him, and it's the one thing he doesn't want anyone to know.
----
* AccidentalMisnaming: Repeatedly messes up the word "Roidmude". [[spoiler:#32 reveals that this is due to 001's memory-altering powers, and when he's administered the antidote he can finally get it right.]]
* AceCustom: The Heavy Acceleration Particle Measuring Device he commissions from Rinna has the ability to let him move during Density Shifts and grants him a measure of immunity against electrical attacks on top of having all the normal functions of the previous model and a much sleeker design; the associated helmet also resembles a police siren rather than a dish with blinking lights attached to it.
* AgentScully: In the first few episodes; to such an extreme that he disbelieves in Slowdown, a widely experienced and acknowledged phenomenon, even ''while he's in the middle of experiencing it himself.'' He starts turning his opinion around after seeing a Roidmude for real in #5, and by #12 has become an...
** AgentMulder: To the point that he insists Slowdown is involved with a crime even when the rest of the [=SIU=] says there's not enough evidence. He was later proven right.
** [[spoiler:This brutally justified in #32 when it's shown that THE ENTIRE POLICE FORCE was subjected to memory-alterations of anything Roidmude related, making their ArbitrarySkepticism completely unintentional]].
* BrickJoke: Early in the show, Gen ends up in positions where he only sees a bit of Drive's body at a time, and each time while he's in a different form. His artist's rendition of Drive thus has Type Technic's head with Type Speed's arms and Type Wild's legs. Over a year later, the ''Kamen Rider Heart'' movie briefly makes the mashup into an actual form.
* ButtMonkey: Can find himself being made the butt of jokes most of the time.
* CantCatchUp: He's got the drive and desire to fight Roidmudes once he acknowledges their existence, and is even willing to wear any of Rinna's stupid-looking inventions to that end, but he can't really keep pace with the Riders physically and Rinna keeps giving all her real top-notch equipment to Shinnosuke and Kiriko.
* CharacterDevelopment: His transformation from AgentScully to AgentMulder over the course of the first 12 episodes.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: While the plot might force Gen to be comic relief, when he finally gets the spotlight, he shows that he's just as good as Shinnosuke.
* ContrivedCoincidence: When he's part of the action the plot goes to ridiculous lengths to make sure Gen's knocked unconscious so he can't figure out Shinnosuke and Go are the Kamen Riders. Until #25, that is, thanks to the Sword Roidmude attacking a hospital.
* {{Determinator}}: The RunningGag is eventually revealed as the sign of one: [[spoiler:Gen was forcing himself to remember that Roidmudes existed, even though Freeze's ability meant ''he was physically incapable of having that thought'']]. Indeed, it comes up repeatedly that Gen's determination is his greatest virtue, both in the show and in the ''Kamen Rider Heart/Kamen Rider Mach'' movie.
* DrivenByEnvy: Played very much for laughs, concerning Public Safety in #5.
* FriendOnTheForce: With the normal police, since the protagonists are a RagtagBandOfMisfits on a [=SIU=].
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: Very nearly gets himself killed when his bullet got deflected back onto him thanks to the Crash Roidmude.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He loves kids... not that he wants anyone to find out.
** That being said, he looked like he was going to go ballistic when his personal unit laughed at the [=SIU=] in #12.
** As the series goes on, his loyalty to the [=SIU=] only increases, and in #25, he tells Shinnosuke that no matter what happens, he'll always have his back.
* {{Malaproper}}: As noted under RunningGag, he can't seem to remember the name "Roidmude", instead calling them things like "Hemmoroido". Lampshaded in #27 where, when infected by a Roidmude's HatePlague, he angrily rants that the other members of Special Crimes think he's an idiot for doing this... [[HypocriticalHumor while still doing it]]. [[spoiler:Later on, we learn it's justified, as the entire force is brainwashed to not remember]].
* TheNicknamer: To wit: Kyu is "Kyu-taro", Kiriko is "little lady", and Rinna is just "Doc". Apparently Honganji and Shinnosuke, being the closest to detective rank like him, warrant being called by their proper names. Or he just can't remember them all.
* NotSoAboveItAll: He seems to be pretty excited about seeing Kamen Rider, he dresses up in costume during a Christmas party, and when an actress asks the [=SIU=] for protection, he claims he's the actress's biggest fan.
* RunningGag: He often sees Kamen Rider at the scene - but only ''part'' of him at a time, leading to a wildly inaccurate image. He's seen Type Speed's arm, Type Wild's legs, and Type Technic's face. He gets further confused when he sees a picture of Mach, not realizing that there are two Kamen Riders running around. And then when he sees Drive and Mach together, he thinks that Types Wild and Technic are ''also'' separate Kamen Riders.
** His other running gag is that he always mispronounces the name "Roidmude". [[spoiler:Justified, as the entire force was brainwashed into not focusing on them.]]
%%* ShipTease: With Rinna.
* ThatOneCase: Featured in #18-19, where he and his mentor went after the owner of a revenge-by-proxy website.

!!Go Shijima/Kamen Rider Mach
!!!'''Portrayed by:''' Yu Inaba (live), Jun Watanabe (Suit)
[[quoteright:210:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/go_shijima.png]]
Kiriko's younger brother, a freelance photographer who returns to Japan for urgent business. He transforms using the Mach Driver Honoh. Unlike Drive, Mach's motif revolves around bikes, which aligns him more to a traditional Rider, though he has a secondary theme revolving around road signs. His various forms change the sign on his chest.

!!!Tropes that apply to him in general
* AttentionWhore: He uses Amazing Circus to make a show of his first transformation in front of Shinnosuke and Kiriko.
** He even sets up his camera with the Signal Bikes to take pictures of himself as Mach.
---> '''Mr. Belt:''' You're quite the little narcissist...
* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: Around the time of Type Formula's introduction, it starts becoming apparent that he has started feeling inferior to Drive and is frustrated with himself for falling short.
* AntiHero: After CerebusSyndrome kicked in, he became this. He is far more cynical than the rest of the cast, seeing [[FantasticRacism Roidmudes only as monsters deserving death]] and also suggested killing criminals working with Roidmudes in front of Kiriko and Shinnosuke. He eventually grew out of this.
* ArchnemesisDad: [[spoiler:Banno, having created the Roidmudes that he initially was so determined to kill them all, and is a total madman in general.]]
* TheAtoner: Being the son of [[spoiler:Banno, the creator of the Roidmudes]], Go feels compelled to wash the sins from his family name with his own hands.
* BadassBiker: Obviously. Even his Rider gimmick are tiny motorcycles. His bike is called the Rider Macher.
* BequeathedPower: [[spoiler:Chase gives him his Signal Bike, which he uses to become Chaser Mach, allowing him to defeat Gold Drive.]]
* BerserkButton:
** Like most heroes, he doesn't take kindly to [[RelativeButton loved ones getting hurt]].
** Chase is also a major Berserk Button for him. He hates Roidmudes in general, but most of them live down to his low opinion of them so it's not treated as a big deal. Chase, on the other hand, is actually semi-heroic and Kiriko and Shinnosuke believe in his goodness, which flies in the face of Go's cynicism and ticks him off.
** Banno. After it was revealed that he never saw neither Go nor Kiriko as family, Go stops calling Banno "father" and will stop at nothing to kill him. [[spoiler:He succeeds.]]
* BigBrotherInstinct: Inverted. He's pretty protective of his older sister, especially when Chase is around. He eventually tolerates Chase's presence, but it takes [[spoiler:[[ILetGwenStacyDie Chase's death]]]] to get Go to finally see him as a comrade.
* BigDamnHeroes: His pre-debut appearance has him save his big sister while transformed.
* BlackAndWhiteInsanity: In Go's world everyone exists in a specific spot of morality, when reality fails to adhere to this simple ideal Go goes AxCrazy. [[spoiler:Subverted. He still has his morals]].
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: Becomes this in #29, thanks to [[spoiler:Roidmude 001]].[[spoiler:Subverted, he was actually GoodAllAlong, planning to rescue his father, whose mind was revealed to be alive inside Brain's tablet, yet [[ItsAllMyFault felt guilty]] on [[ILetGwenStacyDie seeing Freeze kill Shinnosuke and Mr. Belt]], as he didn't mean for that to happen.]]
* BreakTheHaughty: With the twist that he was broken from the moment we met him, but the Seeker Roidmude arc marks the point where Go can no longer convincingly play the SadClown.
* BreakingOldTrends: Go bucks tradition for secondary Riders by being significantly younger than the primary, being 19-20 to Shinnosuke's 23-24. Previous Second Rider's were either older than the protagonist, or around the same age.
* ButtMonkey: [[Film/SuperHeroTaisenGPKamenRider3 In GP Kamen Rider #3 and the online series #4,]] he [[spoiler:gets KILLED in both the alternate timeline and in a GroundhogDayLoop, more times than the other Riders.]]
** [[spoiler:He also got the Mach Driver Honoh temporarily destroyed when he lost control of his Dead Heat form. The [[CantCatchUp only other form]] he has.]]
** He also gets conned by the Seeker Roidmude and [[spoiler:while pretending to be brainwashed by the Roidmudes, couldn't do anything to save Shinnosuke from his "death".]] Poor dude can't get a break.
** And when he tries to get Mr. Belt and [[spoiler:Banno]] to bury the hatchet....he turns out to be evil and gets attacked by [[spoiler:his own father.]]
** In ''Drive Saga: Kamen Rider Chase'', Shin, Go and Kiriko are drinking juice together at the cafeteria along with Krim, [[BecomeARealBoy Chase shows up all human and full of emotions]]. Cue general SpitTake, right at Go's face, and in slow motion.
* CantCatchUp: A common trend for secondary Riders, but for Mach it especially hurts because Chaser is ''also'' stronger than him in every way. To say he's agitated over this would be an understatement. Averted at least somewhat when he becomes the undisputed master of Dead Heat form, allowing him to overheat himself without going berserk. [[spoiler:Tragically averted in the penultimate episode when he gets Chase's powers to fuse with his own... After Chaser's HeroicSacrifice]].
* CatchphraseInterruptus: In #14, Roidmude 096 opens fire on him while he's doing his CharacterCatchphrase. Mach tries again a minute later, only to find at the end that 096 has escaped while he's done so. When he transforms again later in the episode, he cuts ''himself'' off to keep it from happening again; and in the ''next'' episode against the same Roidmude he doesn't even try.
* CharacterCatchphrase: "Searching... Destroying... Doing both at... mach speed! Kamen Rider - Maaach!". [[LargeHam Complete with a series of corresponding poses]].
* CharacterDevelopment: Go starts out as a wacky LargeHam before revealing the bitter, jaded man underneath, and after it comes out he spends a long time getting worse before he starts to get better. By the end of the show he's finally started to stabilize a little.
* CoolBike: The Ride Macher.
* CombiningMecha: The Ride Macher can combine with another motorcycle to from a car called the Ride Crosser. That motorcycle happens to belong to Mashin Chaser - which means Mach actually steals the villain's bike. [[spoiler:Chase later returns the favor.]]
* ContrastingSequelMainCharacter: Go is cheerful, goofy, and has a good relationship with the show's main Rider; meanwhile, [[Series/KamenRiderGaim the previous show's]] Kaito Kumon was a [[TheComicallySerious Comically Serious]] {{Jerkass}} ([[JerkWithAHeartOfGold with a very small heart of gold]]) and openly antagonized the main Rider from the start, even to the point of [[spoiler:being the "FinalBoss" Gaim defeats at the end of the series]]. Eventually, Go subverts this trope showing traits similar to both Kaito ''and'' Micchy and starts to show darker shades to his character, much as Kaito evolved into a more sympathetic and morally complex character. [[spoiler:This is still in effect due to his own sympathetic background, and while he was really just a FakeDefector, he still ends up going through a similar redemption progress like Micchy did, but it's ultimately made much easier.]]
* CoupDeGrace: [[spoiler:After destroying Banno's body, he finishes him off by destroying the Evil Drive Driver containing his consciousness by way of a Signal Ax [[FinishingMove Full Throttle]] beheading swing.]]
* TheCynic: Usually where the Roidmudes are involved, especially towards Chase.
* {{Eagleland}}: Go's been living in America for a while prior to returning to Japan. Not only is his adopted home reflected in his mannerisms and general speech and Rider coloring, even his henshin phrase is a western one. "[[GratuitousEnglish Let's Henshin!]]" He's most definitely a Type 2, albeit a little more polite and agreeable than most.
* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: Go could originally casually defy physics without his powers for gags and had MediumAwareness. These all disappear and he becomes much DarkerAndEdgier.
* {{Expy}}: In terms of ''Kamen Rider'' characters, he's reminiscent of [[Series/KamenRiderWizard Beast]] as a hammy, laid-back Secondary Rider that gets more serious and anti-heroic as time goes on.
** Aside from being a homage to the Double Riders, his profession as a photographer makes him the second coming of [[Series/KamenRider Hayato Ichimonji]]. The only differences is Hayato is the ArcHero of his debut story arc in his home series, while Go was in the position of a secondary rider in this series.
** He's also reminiscent of [[Series/KamenRiderGaim Micchy]]. Younger sidekick looking up to the hero as a BigBrotherMentor? Check. Really cares for the main heroine? Check. [[spoiler:Starts losing his marbles after the world stops conforming to his wants leading to a FaceHeelTurn? Yes, but he was faking that last part. Although if he weren't, he would have just been brainwashed. He ''did'' also believe it was for a good cause, and ultimately realizes the error of his ways after TheHero's apparent death, so there's still that.]]
* FaceHeelTurn: For a good chunk of the Eisuke Arc. After getting {{Brainwashed}} by 001. [[spoiler:Subverted, he was GoodAllAlong and managed to avoid the brainwashing]].
* FantasticRacism: While the whole cast aims to seek and destroy all of the Roidmudes, Go hates them with a passion well beyond what's necessary.
* FunPersonified: He spent his entire debut episode playfully trolling Shinnosuke, doing backflips everywhere, and [[MediumAwareness playing with the special effects]]. It's very quickly inverted as he becomes far and away the most dour member of the cast.
* GoodCounterpart: To Mashin Chaser due to having the same motorbike motif. It's later inverted with Chase as the GoodCounterpart while Go was brainwashed. [[spoiler:In the end Go was revealed to be GoodAllAlong after Shinnosuke's death by Freeze, making this trope a subverted one.]]
* GratuitousEnglish: He spent enough time in America that the language rubbed off on him, and he peppers his dialogue with random English.
* HenshinHero: Just like Shinnosuke.
* HiddenDepths: Shinnosuke suspects there's something deeper besides just his goofy exterior. Part of it is hinted in #22 where Go declares himself the destroyer to Drive's protector.
** #27 confirms this, when [[spoiler:Go reveals that Banno is his father, and he's trying to destroy the Roidmudes to atone for Banno's mistakes.]]
* HunterOfHisOwnKind: Lampshading and discussing a theme that's been present throughout the entire franchise, Go believes that since [[PhlebotinumRebel the Riders' powers come from the same source as the Roidmudes]], that makes them monsters as well.
** This becomes kind of ironic though, when you remember that this time it's the ''monsters'' who stole the hero's powers, instead of the other way around like with most Rider seasons.
** His view of being a monster himself becomes even more odd when it becomes apparent just how much he ''hates'' Roidmudes.[[spoiler:Makes more sense since he's Banno's son.]]
* ImageSong: Spinning Wheel, which he shares with Shinnosuke and Chase.
* InTheHood: He's usually seen in a hoodie, with has the same colors and patterns as his Rider form.
* InTheNameOfTheMoon: Has a habit of make a long and hammy introduction after transforming. Ends up becoming a DeconstructiveParody when a Roidmude manages to get away in the middle of his introduction!
* IronicEcho: When plagued by his inability to keep pace with Drive anymore, Go asks Rinna about creating an upgrade for him, which leads her to create a second Mach Driver by the time he cancels the request. [[spoiler:When Chase dies, Go takes the Chaser Signal Bike for himself, a Signal Bike that was created as a result of that very request, and thus gets the upgrade he asked for in a way that makes him not want it anymore.]]
* ItRunsInTheFamily: Go is able to do the same kind of jumps Kiriko can do, except better and across buildings!
* {{Jerkass}}: A downplayed example. He's not a bad guy by any means, but his hatred of Roidmudes drives him to do some pretty jerkish stuff. No matter what proof there might be to the contrary, he firmly and stubbornly believes all Roidmudes to be [[BlackAndWhiteMorality evil]] and worth [[WhatMeasureIsANonHuman nothing other than destruction]]. Even during recent events with 072, and later Chase, it becomes clear that he's wrong, but he seemingly does not care. And, we see him ''attacking'' Chase as a Rider! Even with him switching sides, Go ''still'' resents him.
* KnightOfCerebus: The Go from his first appearance compared to the Go from #28 are completely different beasts. [[spoiler:TheReveal of who Go's father is makes things much darker.]]
* LargeHam: ''DEAR LORD'', is he ever! He may possibly be the hammiest Rider in history, [[Series/KamenRiderFourze and]] [[Series/KamenRiderDenO that's]] [[Series/KamenRiderStronger saying]] [[Series/KamenRiderKabuto something!]] Case in point, he doesn't just have a post-henshin catchphrase, he has an entire ''choreographed routine''! Then he stops being a LargeHam and shit gets very real.
* {{Leitmotif}}: "Full Throttle", basically a BraggingThemeTune for Mach, but despite the lighthearted and hammy boasting it also shows some [[AntiHero disturbing]] HiddenDepths.
---> "I'm Double-Faced!"
* LGBTAwakening: The CD drama portion of the ''Drive Saga'' has Hypnos, an old AI Krim and Banno worked on, place Go into a dream world that at one point involves him dating Chase. Hypnos then has to point out that dreams are a reflection of what you think about other people and the outside world, leading Go to realize that yes, he does have a crush on Chase.
* ManipulativeBastard: Successfully guilt trips Shinnosuke into keeping his and Kiriko's father's identity a secret. Chase on the other hand, after Go revealed to be [[spoiler:GoodAllAlong]] tells him not lie as it would break her heart instead.
* MediumAwareness: He can see ''and even interact with'' Shinnosuke's SherlockScan flashbacks.
* MundaneSolution: Is the bad guy [[VillainOverride taking control]] of your bike so it will [[CombiningMecha combine]] with his own and form a mini-tank to attack you with? Just don't bring it in the first place!
* MySisterIsOffLimits: Inverted in that he approves his sister getting together with Shinnosuke, much to the duo's annoyance. [[spoiler:''Chase'', on the other hand...[[SubvertedTrope needed to save his life first before they were finally on speaking terms.]]]]
** [[spoiler:Is back in full force towards Chase, when he reveals he's fallen in love with Kiriko much to Go's fury, though it possibly has to do with him being a Roidmude.]]
* MythologyGag: His signature sound effect is the exact same as the original transformation sound effects from [[Series/KamenRider the original series]].
** He's also a photographer like Hayato Ichimonji, Rider number 2.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: He gets unexpectedly serious in #14, when Mr. Belt tells Shinnosuke about the true identity of Chase. Also when he rescues his sister from Chase.
* PetTheDog: Despite his hatred, he has shown a little sympathy for 072 in #20 albeit temporarily, until [[spoiler:he snapped out of his BlackAndWhiteInsanity]].
* PowerParasite: Go in his debut is already as strong as the Mach System will ever be, and though it takes him a few episodes to master the stress that being Mach places on his body, he soon enough hits the limit of what he can do on his own. All of his upgrades from then on are based on stealing the abilities of another Rider, and resemble his costume with elements of theirs tacked on. [[spoiler:It runs in the family.]]
* RedOniBlueOni: The reckless and flashy red to Shinnosuke and Chase's balanced and professional blue.
* TheRival: To Drive. Even the powerful Dead Heat form is indicative of this. Both Riders ''share'' the form, meaning that the two are in a literal dead heat. Later, he is more to Chase now, after Chase is reformed and return to his former-self.
* SadClown: By the second half of the season, Go's goofball and over-the-top schticks would eventually erode, revealing a [[HairTriggerTemper highly-strung]], cynical, and insecure man.
* SanitySlippage: [[spoiler:The events of #27-28 revolve around driving Go insane. He gets better.]]
* SayMyName: [[spoiler:As per tradition of Phase 2 Heisei Kamen Rider when a key character with a mysterious past that is linked to the main villains of the series is killed. He cries out Chase's name as he witnesses his core destroyed for good.]]
--> [[spoiler:'''CHAAAAAASE!!!''']]
* ShipperOnDeck: He thinks that Shinnosuke and Kiriko make a cute couple, and immediately starts calling Shinnosuke "Big Brother" because of it (though by the end of the episode, the two talk it over and seem to shift the nickname to a BigBrotherMentor meaning).
* ShoutOut:
** His armor coloring and design are near identical to the [[Anime/SpeedRacer Mach 5]]. Worth noting is that he shares the given name of Speed's Japanese name, Mifune ''Go''.
** Him announcing "Let's Henshin" can be seen as a reference to [[Series/TokumeiSentaiGoBusters the Go-Busters shouting "Let's Morphin'"]]
** He homages [[Series/KamenRider the original Double Riders]] in his design: He's one of the few Heisei Riders to wear a scarf, he's a photographer like Hayato Ichimonji (Kamen Rider Niigo), the sound effect from his transformation belt [[SugarWiki/MostWonderfulSound is the same sound effect the original Riders use for their poses]], and even his Rider Kick is just a flashy version of the originals with lots of flips. This can be further referred to if one were to place Amazing Circus in his Driver, with the Shift Car's big top design seems to emulate the fan in the [[TransformationTrinket Typhoon]].
** His American flag color scheme and flashy daredevil persona is inspired by [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evel_Knievel Evel Knievel]].
** With the driving theme, a color scheme based primarily on white and a helmet inspired by a racing helmet, I think one thing is clear... he's NOT [[Series/TopGearUK The Stig]]... but he could be the Stig's lost Japanese cousin.
* SinsOfOurFathers: Go's father is [[spoiler:the creator of the Roidmudes, and he feels responsible for cleaning up his father's mistake.]]
* SixthRanger: Mach is the Secondary Rider of ''Drive''.
** SixthRangerTraitor...by way of Brainwashing, courtesy of [[BigBad 001]]. Then it's [[spoiler:subverted when it's all revealed to be a facade to save his dad from Brain]].
*** After his own [[spoiler:dad]] is revealed to be [[spoiler:EvilAllAlong, having used his own son as an UnwittingPawn]], Go becomes an [[spoiler:official member of S.I.D. to stop his dad]].
* SmarterThanYouLook: He acts like a goofball, but he's also usually one step ahead of everyone.
* SmugSuper: He's very arrogant about his abilities, but he usually can back it up with power and intelligence. He loses the smugness as he drops in both power and goofiness.
* StepfordSmiler: Initially appearing as bright and cheerful, once Go's mask of showmanship breaks he reveals himself to be intensely bitter and spiteful underneath. It's confirmed in the novel that his initial behaviour was just a façade he put up in an effort to not cause Kiriko concern, knowing his sister would try to stop him should she have known about his self-destructive path.
* TragicKeepsake: [[spoiler:Keeps Chase's license and his Signal Bike after the battle with his father.]]
* TransformationTrinket: The Mach Driver Honoh (Flame) and Signal Bikes.
* {{Troll}}: He deliberately messes with Shinnosuke in his first episode, taking the cake when he interrupts the latter's SherlockScan and ''[[PaintingTheMedium physically knocks the images out of the air]]''.
* TheUnfettered: #13 shows that he's more than willing to cause Slowdowns, regardless of if it means that he's no better than the Roidmudes or if the Slowdowns are traumatizing.
* UnwittingPawn: [[spoiler:To his own dad]].
* WhatMeasureIsANonHuman: He believes that Roidmudes are irredeemable monsters; contrasting how his sister feels that there's hope for Chase at least.
* YouAreWhatYouHate: Go's hatred and wrath and bigotry turn him into a stoic, serious man and opens the door to him being brainwashed into a grim hitman for the Roidmudes just like Chase used to be which Brain gleefully points out. Long story short, Go's hatred turned him into the man who he hates the most. [[spoiler:Zig-zagged, as Go is revealed to be GoodAllAlong, but the toll his undercover work took on him caused him to become jaded and stoic; just like Chase]].
** Just like [[spoiler:his father]], Go is a PowerParasite who can only get stronger by "stealing" the abilities of the more talented Riders around him. The difference is that Go's friends willingly provide their gifts to him, as opposed to his taking them by force.
** The novel ramps this up even further by having Mach Super Dead Heat flat-out turn Go into [[spoiler:Super Mashin Chaser]], i.e. a ''Roidmude form'', only with white plating and his original helmet in place of the suit's own helmet.

* EleventhHourSuperpower: [[spoiler:Chaser Mach]]
* FinishingMove: Like Drive, Mach's finishing moves are titled as Full Throttles, and are activated by lifting the Signal Landing Panel, hitting the Boost Ignitor button, then placing the Signal Landing Panel back down.
** '''Kick Macher''': Mach's default [[DivingKick Rider Kick]], where Mach vertically [[SpectacularSpinning spins in place]] with yellow energy being generated from the spinning before zooming in for the kill.
** '''Hit Macher''': Mach's Full Throttles that are executed through the Zenrin Shooter. As such, this finisher can be subjected to the Boost Ignitor's alterations if in different forms. During the Ninninger vs. Drive special, Deadheat Mach did a variant where he used a Full Throttle from the belt itself, then fired blasts of energy that resembled the motorbike part of Shift Dead Heat.
** '''Beat Macher''': The melee Full Throttle version of the Zenrin Shooter, Mach must spin the wheel before hand to activate this.
** '''Roughening Kick Macher''': The Full Throttle version of Mach Arabull, Mach attaches the Rumble Smasher on his leg before flying at the enemy. When used as Deadheat Mach, it insteads enshrouds the leg with energy, and continues to wield the Rumble Smasher normally.
** '''Heat Kick Macher''': Deadheat Mach's Full Throttle [[DivingKick Rider Kick]]. Think the Kick Macher, only with red and blue energy.
* FlawedPrototype: The Mach suit is supposed to be more powerful than Drive, but it is physically taxing on the wielder; Go had a tendency to fall asleep after battles. This is likely due to Go taking the Mach gear before it could be properly finished. This also happens in the sequel novel, with the prototype Mach Driver he takes [[spoiler:after all of the Core Driviar tech is sealed away in the finale]] to battle 005 [[TheWorfEffect crippling the powers]] of [[spoiler:Chaser Mach]]. It isn't until he restores the [[spoiler:Rhino Super Viral Core]] and uses that to access [[OneWingedAngel Super Dead Heat]] that he's able to fully control the prototype Driver.
* TheGunslinger: Not only is Mach's main weapon a gun, but he can equip Signal Bikes to activate a number of trick shots. Unlike Drive, who changes his equipped Tire, Mach's Signal Panel changes to show a different signal sign, based on the bike equipped. Mach can also utilize Drive's Shift Cars.
** Signal Bikes
*** '''Mach Magarl''' - A dirt bike with a turn sign motif: Mach can fire [[BizarreAndImprobableBallistics curving blasts]], like [[Series/KamenRiderDouble Kamen Rider Double LunaTrigger]].
*** '''Mach Kikern''' - A custom bike with a warning sign motif: Mach can fire off a powerful shot from the Zenrin Shooter that [[ManBitesMan bites any Roidmude too slow to run from it]].
*** '''Mach Tomarle''' - A sports bike with a stop sign motif: Mach can fire [[TheParalyzer paralyzing shots]] from the Zenrin Shooter. The shots also double as [[BarrierWarrior moving energy walls]].
*** '''Mach Kaksarn''' - An American-style bike with a directions permitted sign motif: Mach can launch attacks in [[BeamSpam all directions]], hitting any and all targets he has at once or hitting a single target with a flurry of blasts.
** Shift Cars
*** '''Shift Dead Heat''' - A motorcycle with a oversized sidecar: Mach uses this Shift Car to transform into Deadheat Mach.
*** '''Mach Moerl''' - Max Flare: Mach can fire [[PlayingWithFire burning shots]]. Revving the Mach Driver Honoh makes the shots explode in firey bursts, severely burning his target.
*** '''Mach Arabull''' - Rumble Dump: Mach is equipped with the [[ThisIsADrill Rumble Smasher]], which can also be placed on his right leg for its FinishingMove. [[Series/KamenRiderFourze Sounds familiar...]]
*** '''Mach Mazerl''' - Spin Mixer: Mach can fire liquid concrete. Revving the Mach Driver Honoh once makes the fired concrete harden, clogging up whatever the liquid concrete got in. This was used in the Ninninger VS. Drive special against [[Series/KamenRiderV3 Turtle Bazooka]].
*** '''Deadheat Mach''' (Naorl) - Mad Doctor: Unintentional transformation, due to Kiriko being the one who put the Shift Car into Mach's belt during the Shoot Roidmude's poisonous upgrades. Like Type Speed Doctor earlier in the season, it was used to combat and cure Brain's poison, but in a rather painful way.
* LightningBruiser: At first Mach's stats take the best of all of Drive's Types combined, with a further bump when he gains Shift Dead Heat. CantCatchUp soon applies, and even with Dead Heat he's left as the weakest of the three main Riders.
* MixAndMatchWeapon: The [[PowerFist Zenrin]][[note]]Front Wheel[[/note]] Shooter.
* OneWingedAngel: The novel-exclusive Super Dead Heat form is this for Mach, which is notably in ''very'' stark contrast to [[ClippedWingAngel Drive Super Dead Heat]]. Specifically, although both have a jury-rigged appearance (to the point that Mach Super Dead Heat is very explicitly a PaletteSwap of Mashin Chaser), Drive's version of the form is the weakest in the series, compared to Mach's which is second only to [[spoiler:Mach Chaser]] and can battle Roidmudes even [[spoiler:Gold Drive]] struggled against.
* PowerFist: Mach can use the Zenrin Shooter as a knuckle, by punching with the tire. Interestingly this, like many other aspects of Mach's design is something shared by Mashin Chaser.
* TimeStandsStill: Like others that are powered by Core Driviars (i.e. Roidmudes [[spoiler:and Drive]]), he can cause Density Shifts.
* WhenAllYouHaveIsAHammer: While Drive has access to a dozen tools and abilities, Mach relies almost entirely on the Zenrin Shooter and anything the Signal Bikes can power it with. There's also the acrobatics, of course.
