A land of mountains and deserts in the southeastern part of the continent, the kingdom holds abundant mineral resources and boasts a strong military force led by dragon knights. It also has a long history of border disputes with Cornia.
----
[[foldercontrol]]

[[folder:In General]]
* HistoryRepeats: Drakenhold came to be after a battle over succession occurred in Cornia between two royal siblings. The loser retreated to the mountains and founded the nation, maintaining and strengthening it out of a mixture of bitterness and pride towards the more comfortable lands of his neighbors. Years later, the new ruling classes of Drakenhold would toss out perceived undesirables into the country's vast and inhospitable desert who would go on to found a society of their own.
* LandOfDragons: Averted. There is nothing that could be considered Asian inspired in Drakenhold, or the entire game for that matter. It's called "Land of the Dragons" in-universe due to their Wyvern Knights and the huge dragon bones and skeletons that dot Drakenhold's landscape. (Which in itself can be a reference to the abundance of dinosaur fossils in Asia, but that's it.)
* OutlawTown: The desert in the south of Drakenhold, due to it being the go-to place for exiling criminals for generations. The main form of governance there are the various gangs that inhabit it. Downplayed in that a villager notes while they're mostly descendants of criminals, most of the population are just normal, peaceful people.
* RibcageRidge: Dotted all over Drakenhold, but particularly noticeable in the southern desert region, are the skeletal remains of dragons and other massive beasts. Several [=NPCs=] will comment on them, speculating that some of these creatures are the ancestors to the abundant wyvern population in the region and wondering what terrible tragedy occurred that killed them.
* TheRival: To its bordering country Cornia, with their border disputes and conflicts going back centuries. Initially, Drakenhold was quite happy to have Cornia fall to the coup of the fledging Zenoiran Empire, fully confident in their ability to defeat them and take Cornia for themselves in the spoils, only to end up on the losing end of the resulting war. This is driven home in the sidequest "Two Armies as One", where a Drakenhold militia group not directly affiliated with Prince Gilbert's rebellion [[TeethClenchedTeamwork chafes at working with the Liberation Army]] to liberate Fruth Harbor due to generations of bad blood, as Leah had originally told them they would receive aid from the Drakenhold military.
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: Surprisingly averted, considering the violent history between Cornia and Drakenhold. Gilbert's army is disciplined enough to know better than to try to bite Liberation's helping hand, with all parties being perfectly cordial with each other. However, the Fruth militia encountered in "Two Armies as One" is very vocal about disliking working with Cornia, with leads to problems further into the sidequest.

!!!Royal Family
[[folder:King Hugo]]
[[quoteright:200:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hugouo.png]]
The late king of Drakenhold. When Cornia fell, he’d hoped to be the one to defeat Zenoira and annex the fallen kingdom into his own to strengthen his power; instead, he fell in combat. His elder son Ludwig went missing and his younger, Gilbert eventually came to lead the resistance.
----
* FairWeatherFriend: Although he offered Virginia sanctuary after she fled for her life, Gilbert notes it was a purely pragmatic decision; Hugo wished to marry her to Ludwig so that when he defeated Zenoira, he could more easily claim Cornia’s territory (and Alain’s survival was not public knowledge thus making her the assumed heir). Downplayed in that even when Zenoira seized the upper hand against him, he refused to cede his country to them.
* GagNose: If his great height and muscular build comparable to Gloucester's didn't set him apart from his sons enough in terms of appearance, he also had a very prominent nose.
* LastStand: He fought Zenoira to his final breath, refusing to yield.
* LikeFatherUnlikeSon: Whereas Hugo was the very kind of unruly neighbor which Galerius (then Valmore) cited as a detriment to Fevrith’s betterment — often clashing with them in combat and even celebrating the kingdom’s fall — his younger son Gilbert very much came to believe in cooperation and helping each other out. As for his elder son Ludwig, [[spoiler:he discarded his old life in shame at his troops perishing where he’d lived; upon seeing how Gilbert had earned their loyalty and admiration, where his father would have retaken power Aramis chose to instead privately support his brother’s claim to prevent discord.]]
* ParentalSubstitute: Leah notes that she was left as a baby on the Palace doorsteps, and Hugo had the palace wet nurses raise her. She also notes that he went beyond what was expected and took a personal interest in her, spending time with her and ruffling her hair as a child, so she remembers him as a father figure.
* PetTheDog: For all his politically ruthless opportunism, he was a kind and loving ParentalSubstitute to Leah, a foundling.
* PosthumousCharacter: Died roughly six years prior.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Ludwig]]
The older son of King Hugo, who went missing after the decisive battle that saw Zenoira claim control over Drakenhold.
----
* TheAce: He's described as such by Gilbert. He was so good many thought he would be the one to ascend the throne after their father's passing. This is partially why Gilbert doesn't feel he's up to snuff when it comes to leading Drakenhold as he feels Ludwig is the better option.
-->'''Gilbert:''' Where I struggled, he always excelled with maddening ease. Beloved by our parents, and most of all, by our citizens.
* TheGhost: He's been missing ever since Zenoira invaded. This and King Hugo's passing are what forces Gilbert to step up to the plate and continue leading Drakenhold's resistance against the empire.
* NeverFoundTheBody: He has been reported missing since Drakenhold's bitter defeat against Zenoira that resulted in his father's death, leaving Gilbert in charge of the resistance. [[spoiler:He actually survived the battle, but given up his royal claim after his failure cost him his army and assumed a new identity, Aramis.]]

[[caption-width-right:200:[[labelnote:Click here to see Gilbert before becoming king]]https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gilbertprinceuo.png[[/labelnote]]]]
->'''Voiced By:''' Creator/MitsukiSaiga (JP), Joshua Waters (EN)\
'''Class''': Prince
The crown prince of Drakenhold. Stepping into the shoes of his father the king, slain fighting the Zenoiran army, Gilbert's family sheltered Virginia after Cornia fell. He recently reclaimed Drakenhold's capital from the Empire, but with imperial forces moving to crush him, he has to turn to the Liberation Army for help, asking Virginia to make contact with her cousin.
----
* BigGood: Of the Drakenhold arc of the story as it ends with his liberation of the country and subsequent coronation.
* DecompositeCharacter: Gilbert and Ludwig both share qualities with Prince Cornelius from ''VideoGame/OdinSphere'', though Gilbert was given the lion's share of the Pooka Prince's character traits, including an arc about coming into his own and a potential romance with an exiled princess. He is also, interestingly, akin to Cornelius' father Edmund, a shorter, less popular spare to the throne that lived in the shadow of an older and more beloved brother.
* EnemyMine: Drakenhold and Cornia used to be at war, and Gilbert's father actually rejoiced when Cornia fell. Virginia was only given shelter in Drakenhold so she could be married off to Gilbert's older brother. Having just freed his capital from TheEmpire, allying with Alain is the only way to safeguard his people's newly won freedom, and he can join the Liberation Army to cement their friendship and desire to move forward instead of bringing past grudges up.
* ErmineCapeEffect: Dons a splendorous ermine cloak after ranking up to king.
* {{Expy}}: Gilbert's hair, the way he stands, and his collection of ''Order'' skills all call back to [[VideoGame/FinalFantasyTactics Ramza Beoulve]] and his ''Shout'' skill, though Gilbert's much luckier when it comes to brothers.
* GameplayAndStoryIntegration: [[spoiler:Aramis]] and Gilbert don't really work well together in a unit as the former typically acts too fast to be affected by most of Gilbert's buffs, signifying how they have gone their separate ways. Gilbert does make for a strong team with [[ImpliedLoveInterest Virginia]], however, as his buffs can make her even tankier whilst compensating for her shortcomings in offense and speed.
* GuestStarPartyMember: He is playable in the main quests, ''Another Prince'' and ''Heir to the Dragon Lands'', but leaves the party in the first one. If Alain doesn't agree to convince [[spoiler:Aramis to speak with his brother]] upon starting ''Heir to the Dragon Lands'', Gilbert will remain in Drakenhold and not join the Liberation Army at all.
* HiddenDisdainReveal: A benign display of such. During his and Alain's final Rapport, Gilbert explains why Drakenhold, its royals (including him), and its people resent Cornia so much, and how blessed their rival truly is compared to Bastorias and even Albion. He encourages Alain not to forget all that he's seen and learned of other lands even after the war is over so that he may rule with compassion and respect for his neighboring nations.
* MasterOfNone: Gilbert has C growth across all his stats, meaning he's equally mediocre at everything. That said, as his role is to buff the squad, his stats don't actually matter much.
* ObliviousToLove: If Alain gives him the Ring of the Maiden, he initially assumes he is doing so for pragmatic reasons, until Alain assures him that he is doing so because he cares for him above anyone else, much to his shock. He then admits to having "miscalculated."
* OptionalPartyMember: He only joins the liberation at the end of the Drakenhold story after "Heir to the Dragon Lands" if you have first recruited Aramis and Alain agrees to have the two speak when asked by Virginia during the cutscene beforehand.
* PairTheSpares: [[spoiler:If Virginia is not given the ring of the Maiden, Gilbert proposes to Virginia in the epilogue and she accepts. This still happens even if Gilbert is given the ring instead.]]
* SupportPartyMember: Gilbert functions as basically an inverted Shaman, buffing his entire squad with offensive, initiative and defensive buffs rather than attacking himself. He can attack, but his stats don't make it worth doing except if he has nothing else to do.
* TinyGuyHugeGirl: Gilbert is a fairly short young man, noticeably shorter than [[spoiler:Virginia (exaggerated further by her HighHeelPower), whom he always marries if Alain does not.]]
* UniversallyBelovedLeader: His leadership of, and dedication to, his people during Zenoira’s occupation has made him deeply respected by the people of Drakenhold. [[spoiler:Which is why Aramis refuses to publicly reveal his own identity as the older brother, so as not to hamper Gilbert’s efforts going forward.]]

!!!Vassals
[[folder:Leah]]
->'''Voiced By:''' Creator/AiKakuma (JP), Creator/EricaMendez (EN)\
'''Class:''' Swordfighter→ Swordmaster
Gilbert's vassal and Virginia's assistant while at the Drakenhold court. Despite being a foundling, she was taken in by King Hugo as essentially his foster daughter.
----
* BeleagueredAssistant: Leah is calm, cool, collected, and often exasperated by the danger-prone, eager to fight Virginia.
* BlueIsHeroic: She wears blue, has blue hair, and is unquestionably a good person fighting to free her kingdom and help her adoptive family reclaim their birthright.
* DoorstopBaby: She was abandoned on the Palace steps as a baby. King Hugo had the castle wet nurses raise her but also took a personal interest in her, and she saw him as a father and Gilbert and Ludwig as her brothers.
* HonoraryAunt: [[spoiler:If Virginia and Gilbert get married she dotes on their son and even tutors him.]]
* MsExposition: As a Drakenhold native and possessing close ties to the royal family before Zenoiran occupation, Leah is one of Alain and the Liberation Army's major guides to the geographical and political landscape of the country.
* NightmareFetishist: In her first rapport with Virginia, the princess insists that Leah should buy whatever she wants at the market for once. Leah chooses a sculpture of a [[{{Cerberus}} three-headed dog]] with all the heads in varying displays of rage, calling it "cute" and deciding that she'll put it right next to her bed so that it's the first thing she sees upon waking up in the morning. Virginia can only mutter that she herself would only get nightmares looking at it. Her rapport with Gilbert reveals she always wanted to see a three-headed beast even if it likely doesn't exist.
* SecretKeeper: [[spoiler:She knew Aramis was Ludwig from the moment she set eyes on him, but held her silence out of respect for the man she viewed like a brother and relief that he really was alive after all this time, even if she didn't necessarily approve of his desire to keep his survival a secret from Gilbert.]]

[[folder:Gloucester]]
->'''Voiced By:''' Creator/YoshikiNakajima (JP), Sena Bryer (EN)\
'''Class:''' Dark Knight → Doom Knight
Prince Ludwig's former vassal. On order from the prince he was sent to form an alliance between the crown and the desert people, before falling under Zenoira's influence.
----
* ArcVillain: Of Drakenhold’s desert arc.
* BedouinRescueService: The lives of his parents were saved in the desert in such a manner. They passed on their gratitude and the knowledge that not everyone who lived in the desert were merciless brigands to Gloucester and their sister, inspiring them to repay the kindness by making things better for those who lived there.
* DarkIsNotEvil: His class is Dark Knight, but he's a stalwart and heroic individual. His sudden shift in behavior clues in everyone that he's under Galerius` spell.
* MagikarpPower: Awkward to use when he's initially recruited, but as a promoted and properly prepped Doom Knight, a player will find out why he's a part of a lot of high-tier team compositions.
* MemorialStatue: In his ending, he becomes so beloved by the desert people that they erected a statue of him riding his steed after his passing.
* MyMasterRightOrWrong: He cites his master, Prince Ludwig’s last order to help the desert people as why he wouldn’t join the Liberation Army; in turn, [[spoiler:having Aramis means he’s convinced to do so (offscreen, if “The Black” night is completed before Aramis’ identity is revealed)]].
* OptionalPartyMember: He will only join after the battle with him if [[spoiler:Aramis was recruited earlier]]; otherwise he stays to watch over the desert [[TheAtoner in recompense for his unwilling crimes]] and [[MyMasterRightOrWrong because Prince Ludwig had ordered him to]].
* TheParagon: A shining epitome of knightly conduct and strength despite what his class and dark armor would indicate. Although he has ties with the royals that banished their ancestors to the desert to begin with, Gloucester is much respected if not outright beloved by even the bandit chieftains there, and strives to strengthen connections between that part of Drakenhold and its more affluent mountainous regions.
* RecurringBoss: If he hasn’t been beaten before Baumratte, he’ll show up as a mini boss there in addition to his regular fight.
* SecretKeeper: [[spoiler:He recognizes Aramis as Prince Ludwig instantly, and he’s convinced to both join the Liberation and to keep his identity under wraps.]]
* UndyingLoyalty: To the Drakenhold royal family, but especially to [[spoiler:Aramis]]. He's the reason he joins the Liberation in the first place.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Hermann]]
->'''Voiced By:''' Creator/RyoSugisaki (JP), Austen Moret (EN)\
'''Class:''' Legionnaire
A mole for Gilbert inside the Zenoira Army. Once Drakenhold is liberated he remains to run things while Gilbert joins the rebellion.
----
* GuestStarPartyMember: During the final mission to liberate Drakenhold, his unit will switch sides to the Liberation Army's on Gilbert's signal.
* EleventhHourRanger: [[spoiler:He joins the Liberation Army partly into the second to final mission, as the Drakenhold reinforcements arrive.]]
* TheMole: Infiltrated the Zenoiran Army years ago to lay the groundwork for overthrowing the occupation.
* SupportPartyMember: Hermann's squad is eager but ultimately poorly equipped to directly retake Drakenhold's capital, but his squad's handy for manning the siege weapons in the area while a player's more powerful units fight on.
[[/folder]]

!!!Desert Folk
[[folder:Aubin]]
[[quoteright:431:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/aubin.jpg]]
->'''Voiced By:''' Creator/RyuichiKijima (JP), Creator/BillButts (EN)\
'''Class:''' Housecarl → Viking
The mercenary leader of a band called the Sand Scorpions, who were hired by Renault to cross blades with Alain as he pursued the kidnapped Scarlett. He held fast to his base at Fort Soligie, but was eventually defeated.
----
* ADayInTheLimelight: He’s rarely involved in the plot despite being one of the first characters to be recruited into the Liberation Army, but does occasionally pop in; the desert arc in Drakenhold gives him a fair bit more involvement as it's his home.
* {{Desert Bandit|s}}: Used to be a thief that grew up in the desert of southern Drakenhold. He uses his past experience to guide the Liberation Army through the desert.
* DudeWheresMyRespect: As a mercenary, he is aware that his contractors do not appreciate his work and is treated as CannonFodder. The fact that Alain pays him to fight for the Liberation Army and respects him amuses him.
* HiddenDepths: Aubin has lived a rich and adventurous life since fleeing from the impoverished desert of his homeland.
* TheMenFirst: Alain meets him as a mercenary leader hired to wrest control of a village. His first hint that [[HiddenDepths Aubin is more than the average thug]] comes when Aubin flees into the castle, forcing the heroes to pursue him, buying time for his men to escape.
* NeverLearnedToRead: Admits he's illiterate, but he's far from stupid.
* NotInThisForYourRevolution: Downplayed. Aubin claims he's only loyal to his pocketbook, but he does seem to be intrigued by Alain's idealism, in his own way, and appreciates it enough to work for him on credit despite being skeptical of the Liberation's chance of success.
* PunchClockVillain: As a lesser mook to a middle-grade mook, Aubin never was subjected to mind-control and has no problem switching sides to the Liberation Army... for the right price.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Liza]]
[[quoteright:555:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/1710449965749.png]]
->'''Voiced By:''' Creator/YukoNatsuyoshi (JP), Creator/AllegraClark (EN)\
'''Class:''' Arbalist → Shieldshooter
An old acquaintance of Aubin and one of the desert gang leaders in Drakenhold. She’s Magellan’s younger sister.
----
* EtTuBrute: When Magellan is made into one of Galerius' thralls, Liza was among those he attacked. She's not thrilled in the least when he shows up at the hideout and initially doesn't buy the excuse that he was mind-controlled.
* GoodIsNotNice: As a gang leader and one of the "exiles" forced to do what she must to survive in Drakenhold's unforgiving deserts, she's understandably not one of the nicest party members. She does have more than a few PetTheDog moments, as seen in her Rapports.
* HiddenDepths: If she's recruited before "Another Prince," when you start the mission, Scarlett is surprised to learn she runs a legitimate merchant business on the side. Liza asks she doesn't tell Magellan or Aubin out of embarrassment.
* {{Tsundere}}: Magellan notes in his rapport with Hilda that Liza isn't good with emotional stuff, probably as a result of [[OneOfTheBoys growing up alongside him and Aubin]], and so tends to default to anger when emotionally flustered. When Aubin gives her a rock that can't be found anywhere in Drakenhold which he got during his traveling merc days in their rapport, she takes it and angrily runs off shouting that this doesn't make up for him leaving her behind. Cut to her talking with Kitra about turning the rock into a necklace.
* VitriolicBestBuds: With Magellan and Aubin. While they shoot the shit at each other, they're friends at the end of the day and watch each others' backs.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Magellan]]
->'''Voiced By:''' Creator/DaikiHamano (JP), Creator/PhillipReich (EN)\
'''Class:''' Sellsword → Landsknecht
An old acquaintance of Aubin and one of the desert gang leaders in Drakenhold. He’s Liza’s older brother.
----
* HatedByAll: After being brainwashed by Zenoira, Magellan becomes so notorious for his brutality that the other rival gangs in the desert and even some of his own men are willing to [[EnemyMine team up with the Liberation Army]] in order to take him down (after a bit of roughing up or talking down, of course).
* MentorOccupationalHazard: Unaware that he'd been hexed, Magellan and his boss personally went to meet with Gloucester several years prior to dissuade him from taking Zenoira's side. He survived the ambush and was enslaved. She didn't.
* MrViceGuy: According to Aubin, Magellan never forgets a single coin he loans out to anyone and he expects to someday be paid back. Despite this, deep down he's a good guy who's just trying to do right by his own in the harsh desert they live in.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: He’s devastated to learn of the harm he’s done to his home while under Zenoira’s control.
* UnwittingPawn: Describes how Zenoira got to him by being summoned to a meeting with Gloucester… who himself had been subverted by Baltro by then, and attended said meeting to put Magellan under his control.
* VitriolicBestBuds: With Liza and Aubin. While they shoot the shit at each other, they're friends at the end of the day and watch each others' backs.
* WelcomeBackTraitor: His sister is understandably reluctant to believe his reasons for turning on them, given how many people have perished as a result, but with Aubin and the Liberation Army vouching for him she accepts it.

!!!Others
[[folder:Aramis ('''Spoilers Unmarked''')]]
[[quoteright:200:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/aramis_3.png]]
->'''Voiced By:''' Creator/RyotaroOkiayu (JP), Christian La Monte (EN)\
'''Class:''' Swordfighter → Swordmaster
A mysterious swordsman working initially for Zenoira seemingly only to undermine them. Joins the rebels at the first opportunity after saving a captive cleric Primm. In reality he is Prince Ludwig of Drakenhold, the eldest of the two princes who vanished years ago.
----
* AbdicateTheThrone: Part of the reason he took the guise of Aramis. After losing his father and army in battle, Ludwig felt unworthy as a leader. And seeing how Gilbert managed to draw an army to free their land, he feels comfortable leaving the throne to him. In fact he didn't even plan to let Gilbert know he was alive, worrying Gilbert might try to abdicate back, or feel undermined by his older brother the designated heir. It's only at Alain and Virginia's insistence that he will reveal himself.
* AgentPeacock: Arguably the [[PrettyBoy prettiest boy]] in the game, and the foremost male representative of its most dapper and elegant class.
* AloofBigBrother: Used to be this to Gilbert. Does it again when he confronts it, though Virginia notes that as Aramis he's learned to relax and joke more.
* BrokenAce: Given his stellar reputation as the perfect heir, his self-confidence was shredded by his failure to keep his men alive and his father’s death on the battlefield; the reason he resolves to not retake his old life even after reconciling with Gilbert, is that he recognizes his brother ''earned'' the adoration and respect of their people in the process of reclaiming their home and sovereignty, whereas Ludwig taking his position back now would be naught but traditional inheritance and seen as the act of a cowardly prince seeking to claim the spoils of victory.
* ButNowIMustGo: The epilogue (if not convinced to talk to Gilbert before the battle to retake Castle Soldraga) mentions that after the victory he takes up WalkingTheEarth before signing up on a ship leaving Fevrith, to never be seen again. He makes good on his intent to disappear so that Gilbert can rule unimpeded.
* ChronicHeroSyndrome: Talking to [=NPCs=] in Drakenhold will reveal a bunch of them who were saved by a "long haired blond swordsman".
* DecompositeCharacter: Has a great resemblance to Prince Cornelius' human form from ''VideoGame/OdinSphere'', but many of the Pooka Prince's strongest character traits are found in Gilbert instead.
* {{Expy}}: Of Aramis, from ''Literature/TheThreeMusketeers''. Like his namesake, he's poetic, and attracted to lovely women. His outfit even resembles that of the Musketeers seen in fiction, with the long tabard with arm flaps. Also like the book version, Aramis is not his real name.
* KnightErrant: [=NPCs=] around Drakenhold will mention a dashing long blonde haired swordsman performing various heroics, referring to him.
* KingIncognito: He's Gilbert's older brother Ludwig, and thus the crown prince of Drakenhold.
* LegacyCharacter: In the epilogue, it's mentioned "Aramis" becomes the name of a host of mysterious young men who take up arms when Drakenhold is in danger, in the centuries after the game.
* OptionalPartyMember: He won't directly join the Liberation army unless Primm or Leah talks with him and gives him the opportunity to defect during "The General in Black".
* MeaningfulRename: As it turns out during his Rapport conversation with Travis, the name "Aramis" comes from a Drakenhold faerie tale about a solitary sellsword who rebel against a despot and claims the throne for himself. Though, tellingly, "Aramis" is not the protagonist — he's his relative that turned to crime to protect his family and, ultimately, burns at a stake for it.
* MyGreatestFailure: During Drakenhold's war against Zenoira, Ludwig and his father took to the battlefield to repel the empire. The battle ended with Zenoira's victory and cost Aramis not only his army, but also his father's life. When reuniting with Gilbert, Ludwig explains he felt so ashamed of his failure to drive back the empire and getting the king killed that he couldn't bring himself to return home for fear of rejection.
* NotSoAboveItAll: His first rapport conversation with Virginia involves him going into detail about how to use long hair as a weapon, even managing to convince her, before revealing he was joking about the entire thing.
* PaperThinDisguise: All he's done to change his appearance is let his hair grow long. Everyone who was familiar with Prince Ludwig immediately see through the disguise.
* RebelPrince: Abandoned his princely duties (and his identity) after losing a battle that got his father killed and army routed. He maintains the habit with a clear conscience after reconciling with Gilbert, as his younger brother stepped up so triumphantly in his absence that even if he were to claim Drakenhold's throne, he knows he'd not have earned it and it could start a civil war with those who share that sentiment.
* WalkingSpoiler: It's basically impossible to talk about Aramis without mentioning he's actually Prince Ludwig. Even all his rapport conversations can only be seen after TheReveal.

[[folder:Amalia]]
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/amalya_9.png]]
->'''Voiced By:''' Creator/RihoSugiyama (JP), Creator/DawnMBennett (EN)\
'''Class''': Dreadnought
A gigantic woman who seeks to fight in Drakenhold's coliseum for unknown reason. She has no intention to get involved in the rebellion, though Alain nonetheless seeks to recruit her after witnessing her fight firsthand.
----
* AbusiveParents: She speaks remarkably little of her parents, if at all. [[spoiler:Rather the problem comes from her ancestor, who was desperate to create an heir he could pass his techniques onto by any means necessary. If the child failed to meet his standards, they were killed off. His "wives" fared little better, with the weakest also dying, and many going mad from his mistreatment of them. Even when her ancestor kicked the bucket, he took to possessing his descendants, with Amalia being his most recent host.]] It's for this reason Amalia chose to stay behind in her home village in the mountains before deciding to leave for Drakenhold's coliseum, [[spoiler:presumably to try to find a way to expel him from her body via combat.]]
* AmazonianBeauty: She's huge, towering even over Galerius, and Scarlett at least thinks she's stunning.
* AntiArmor: Her ''Penetrate'' and ''Omega Shatter'' active skills are Unguardable, with the former inflicting a physickal defense debuff.
* BestHerToBedHer:
** Should Alain choose her for the Ring of the Maiden, she'll demand that he beat her in a one-on-one sparring match first, to which he readily agrees.
** Her epilogue, if not given the Ring, tells that, after years of being undefeated at the Baumratte Coliseum, she convinced the person who bested her to travel the world with her.
* BigEater: When recruited she mentions she eats as much as five men.
* BloodKnight: Played with in unusual ways. When she's introduced Amalia doesn't really care about the resistance or Drakenhold's plight, with her not even batting an eye at the fact the Zenoiran army is about to come down on their heads; she just wants to see the arena re-opened and only agrees to help Gilbert if he'll do so once the Zenoirans are repelled. When she joins your party, she's still eager to fight, but she also makes it clear fighting is not the "be all, end all" of what she finds important in life. [[spoiler: It turns out that her ancestor is a truly toxic example of this trope, mistreating and abusing ''everyone and everything'' around him in the desire to battle and polish his mastery of arms until he became an undead specter haunting and occasionally [[DemonicPossession possessing]] his descendants because not even death could blunt his bloodlust or obsession. Amalia likes fighting and doesn't want to let him ruin it for her, but she has no desire to become like him.]]
* {{BFS}}: She wields a greatsword on the level of the [[Manga/{{Berserk}} Dragon Slayer]], one which is apparently primarily made of stone, ''in one hand''.
* CrutchCharacter: Serves as one during the mission "Another Prince" as her unique class, huge amount of PP and AP, and her insane stats basically make her a boss-level enemy, easily able to hold off the advancing enemy squads on one front. If you take the extra time to recruit her when she's available in the early portions of the game (which is ''very'' difficult to do at lower levels), she'll easily be one of your strongest units, if not the first endgame-level character you recruit.[[note]]The final main story mission and post-game mission recommend parties of Level 40 and 45 respectively.[[/note]]
* DemonicPossession: [[spoiler:Defeating her in the arena the first time has her body taken over by a bloodthirsty spirit, [[SuperMode boosting all of her stats and abilities in the process]]. Once it's defeated and Amalia returns to normal, she explains that her ancient ancestor was a master swordsman not from Fevrith that tried to sire a proper successor and, when unsatisfied with the results, used dark magic to possess his descendants and improve his swordplay through their eyes.]]
* EyepatchOfPower: Given her love of combat, it's not hard to imagine how she might have lost it. [[spoiler:When she gets possessed by her ancestor, Amalia loses the eyepatch, revealing two glowing eyes. Her description in the Fevrith Archive refers to her as having one eye, so this may have simply been the product of her ancestor's powers]].
* GracefulLoser: Both herself and [[spoiler:her ancestor. Finding someone who can defeat her and thus him appears to have been Amalia's goal, so she is quite pleased when it happens. As for her ancestor, he accepts the loss with grace, declaring he can now take his honed fighting skills and make use of them in Hell.]]
* HiddenElfVillage: Tells Alain in their rapport that she grew up in a village in the mountains and is very hard to find, so much in fact Zenoira hasn't found it. Amalia also explains she initially stayed there so as to [[spoiler:keep others from falling victim to her ancestor's BloodKnight tendencies]] before deciding to leave for Drakenhold's coliseum. You can actually find what is implied to be this village (Znova), one of the residents noting that Zenoira has never found it.
* MechanicallyUnusualFighter: The sole character in the game to have the "Dreadnought" Class.
* MightyGlacier: Emphasizing both aspects as her physical attack is through the roof and she is a durable physical tank, but her initiative and evasion are absolute bottom of the barrel, meaning she'll almost always attack last and almost never dodge.
* NotInThisForYourRevolution: Amalia doesn't really care about the war with Zenoira, not even when the Liberation Army tries to appeal to her BloodKnight nature, only that the Coliseum gets re-opened so that she can fight any and all challengers. To that end, she hires herself out to Gilbert to aid in the defense of Baumratte against the Zenoiran army if he'll do just that. When several people question the apparent disconnect, she dodges any straight answer.
* OneManArmy: Josef notes that she's worth a company of soldiers on her own after the successful defense of Baumratte.
* OptionalPartyMember: She'll join your party if you can beat her in the arena. [[spoiler:[[SuperMode Twice]].]]
* OurGiantsAreBigger: Amalia's a small example, but even tall humanoids in-setting are lucky to come up to her chest. and she has SuperStrength to match. [[spoiler: Being the product of a SuperBreedingProgram is part of it.]]
* PartsUnknown: Not Amalia herself who's from a secluded Drakenhold village, [[spoiler:but her ancestor who she claims wasn't from Fevrith.]]
* SimpleYetAwesome:
** Her moveset is nothing fancy, just a couple of unblockable attacks (one even lowering the target's defense), a heavy slash, a buff that makes an attack a guaranteed hit and critical, a follow up move that inflicts stun and guard seal, and a heavy guard. Considering how high her attack and defense are it's all she needs to wreck people.
** Her starting equipment is similarly not flashy but brutally effective, save her Greatshield. Her Greatsword has no special effects or extra stat boosts... it just has the highest (not-InfinityPlusOneSword) attack rating in the game at 25, and she also carries a Ruby and Sapphire pendant for extra action points to (ab)use her mighty skillset with.
* StatuesqueStunner: She stands heads and shoulders over Alain, even taller than Galerius himself. Scarlett and Liza are stunned when they see her.
-->'''Liza:''' She's huge!\
'''Scarlett:''' ...What a woman.
* SuperBoss: [[spoiler:When possessed by her ancestor, she becomes one of the toughest foes in the game by far despite fighting entirely alone. In the postgame, you can also fight her possessed self in proper teams for special rewards.]]
* SuperBreedingProgram: [[spoiler:The product of one. As she explains after being defeated in the coliseum, her ancestor was an accomplished warrior who wished to pass on his techniques to his scion. Although he only sired daughters instead of a son, he still took to putting them through such horrific training most of his children died. Amalia is but one of his descendants and his "bearer" as he took to possessing his descendants so as to improve his swordplay. It's never made clear if Amalia is the 'finished' product of his attempts to produce a strong heir, though Amalia herself genuinely can't give a damn since neither she nor her family care much for him.]]
* TinyGuyHugeGirl: She's the huge girl to ''literally everybody else''. She's even taller than Gladiators and Berserkers, who are both the beefiest and tallest recruitable characters.
* YouWillNotEvadeMe: Her ''Hawk Eye'' passive skill guarantees her next attack will not only hit, but it'll be a critical.

->'''Voiced By:''' Creator/AtsushiImaruoka (JP), Jamison Boaz (EN)\
'''Class:''' Gladiator → Berserker
An old comrade from Travis' days in the Tricorn mercenary company. He never forgot how Travis abandoned them after his sister disbanded the company and he himself rebuilt it, but Bruno is willing to forgive Travis and join the Liberation.
----
* TheBigGuy: Even as a Gladiator, Bruno's sheer mass and [[RegeneratingHealth reflexive self healing]] skill make him a tank for enemy attacks that can swing back harder than a Hoplite like Hodrick.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: Unlike other mercenaries who were paid to obey Zenoira, like Aubin and Mordon, Bruno had to be enchanted with the magick of control because of his stubbornness and kind heart. In his enthrallment, he doesn't recognizes his old friend, Travis.
* DumbMuscle: Bruno's not the sharpest axe in the armory, but man can he hit stuff good. Travis lightly ribs him as the type who thinks "hatching a scheme" involves raiding a chicken coop.
* FaceOfAThug: In fairness, Bruno ''is'' a thuggish brute with a hockey grin, but he's also one of the few mercenaries too fundamentally kind-hearted to go through with Zenoira's program without mind-control magic, and he turns out to have a secret gentle side.
* GentleGiant: In one of his support conversations, he reveals he secretly loves to play with a kitten discovered in camp.
* ToothyIssue: Bruno has quite a few missing teeth.
* UndyingLoyalty: To Berengaria, as he still admires her as the former leader of the Tricorns despite her disbanding the original company. In their rapport, he expresses regret that all the old members left after he was controlled by Zenoira because he held out hope that one day she'd come back like the old days.
* UngratefulBastard: Downplayed in that he ''is'' grateful for being saved, but he makes it clear that doesn't make him square with Travis for walking out on the Tricorns. Only after Travis admits his fault and they shoot the breeze a bit does Bruno forgive Travis and join up with the Liberation.
* UnskilledButStrong: Being a Gladiator lets him hit very hard and gives him a lot of health, but all his other stats are terrible.
* VitriolicBestBuds: Has this relationship with Travis.

[[folder:Fabian]]
->'''Class:''' Knight
Leader of the Fruth militia, he is a friend of Leah who seeks to free his home of Fruth Harbor from Zenoiran occupation. Unfortunately, he also has a chip on his shoulder towards Cornia and isn't very pleased to see Leah brought the Liberation Army to help rather than the Drakenhold military.
----
* GuestStarPartyMember: Of the sidequest "Two Armies as One". After Alain reaches his location after clearing up the Zenoiran troops attacking him, Fabian becomes controllable for the remainder of the mission.
* IChooseToStay: After completing "Two Armies as One", Fabian stays behind to continue watching over his now-freed home.
* {{Jerkass}}: Fabian wants to free his town from tyranny, but he's also a rude jerk to Alain in their first meeting simply because of his Cornian descent. Thankfully, his own screw-up on charging ahead coupled with Alain saving him and his men sees him loosen up and apologize for his behavior.
* LeeroyJenkins: He leads the militia ahead to attack the Zenoiran garrison while Alain and the others are still planning out their strategy because he thought they were taking too long on top of his dislike for Cornia. It ends up with his men being encircled and forced back into some ruins, and it's only Alain's compassion with Leah's pleading that sees him live to reflect fully on this mistake.
* WeCannotGoOnWithoutYou: "Two Armies as One" has an additional defeat condition aside from the usual Liberation command post being taken being Fabian's unit getting wiped out. He might be garrisoned in some ruins for additional protection and healing, but he ''will'' die if you don't hightail it over there to relieve him, which is complicated not only by having enemy troops in the way but also the environmental hazards of hot geysers and magic mines.

[[folder:Hilda]]
[[quoteright:567:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hilda_38.jpg]]
->'''Voiced By:''' Creator/{{Lynn}} (JP), Creator/AmberLeeConnors (EN)\
'''Class:''' Wyvern Knight → Wyvern Master
Primm's sister, who's dealing with the MysticalPlague spreading to Drakenhold.
----
* CainAndAbel: Downplayed. She's the Cain to Primm's Abel, though it's clear neither wants to fight each other. The only reason the sisters are at odds is because of Hilda's resolve and initially refusing to believe Zenoira is responsible for unleashing the plague ravaging Drakenhold. Once she confirms Primm's story, though, she joins Alain's party to make amends.
* {{Expy}}: Being a redheaded Wyvern Knight, she's [[VideoGame/FireEmblemShadowDragonAndTheBladeOfLight Minerva of Macedon]] in all but name. She even has a younger sister who's a Cleric.
* KnightTemplar: Her firsthand experience with the first plague has given her a very pragmatic and order-oriented outlook on handling it. Her recruitment-quest is even called "the Champion of Order".
* TheNeedsOfTheMany: Her justification for her draconian methods in containing the plague, including killing a subordinate who got infected.
* OptionalPartyMember: In order to recruit her, you have to do her mission before the battle at Adopti, or she’ll perish as a miniboss there, have Primm talk to her during her battle, otherwise she will not be convinced to fully join the Liberation. Even then, you have to talk to her again in the overworld.
* OpposeWhatYouSuffered: Saved her Wyvern from being bullied by its peers because she had suffered the same fate, though she ended up needing to be rescued by it, for obvious reasons.
* PerpetualFrowner: Similar to Magellan and Gloucester, though her sharp eyebrows make her look far more cross than either of them.
* PlatonicLifePartners: [[DownplayedTrope Downplayed]] with Alain if he gives her the Ring of the Maiden. Unlike the majority of the female cast, Alain and Hilda do not get married or have romantic feelings for each other. Instead, once Zenoira is overthrown, Hilda works with Primm like in her normal ending, but visits Alain periodically, which is stated to have the two happy to catch-up.
* RecurringBoss: She’s the main commander of her own battle, but will appear as a mini boss at Baumratte and/or Adopti if she’s not been neutralised or recruited already (and if fought at the latter fight she’ll die for real).
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Jeremy]]
->'''Voiced By:''' Takaki Otomari (JP), Creator/DCDouglas (EN)\
'''Class:''' Sellsword → Landsknecht
A mercenary who leads the Three Poison Mercenaries working for Zenoira by watching over the City of Adopti. When Alain appears and decimates his forces to take back the city, he offers his services.
----
* ButtMonkey: Several of his rapport events are comedic at his expense, such as trying and failing to avoid Gloucester for early morning training.
* DefiantToTheEnd: If the option to execute him is taken, he furiously raises his blade and attempts to strike Alain down rather than lie down and meekly be killed; he’s stabbed through the chest as a result.
* GoodScarsEvilScars: He is among the more sinister recruitable characters, and sports three claw-like facial scars.
* IFightForTheStrongestSide: His main outlook on war, which lead him to success and even knighthood after the Zenoiran invasion. It also makes him defect to the Liberation upon his defeat.
* KnowWhenToFoldEm: After his mercenary buddies are defeated, he surrenders and even offers his services to the Liberation.
* OptionalPartyMember: Alain can spare him, in which case he'll join the party as a permanent member.
* SurvivorGuilt: Averted. A few characters will ask him if he feels remorse about the men who died fighting Alain, but he says his only choice at that point was to either join them or Alain. [[spoiler: Downplayed in his last rapport event with Aubin where we learn he had a friend with aspirations of becoming a knight who sacrificed himself to save Jeremy, and this is where his cold outlook on morality comes from.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Primm]]
->'''Voiced By:''' Saho Shirasu (JP), Creator/SuzieYeung (EN)\
'''Class:''' Cleric → Bishop
A Zenoiran captive given her freedom by a disloyal commander, at the worst possible time.
----
* BigEater: Loves to eat, which comes up in almost all her Rapport scenes. With Aramis in particular, she reveals that her coin purse is the limiting factor on her "reward meals" for a job well done rather than her stomach.
* CainAndAbel: Downplayed. She's the Abel to Hilda's Cain, though it's abundantly clear neither side wants to hurt the other. The only reason the sisters are at odds in the first place is because Hilda initially refuses to believe Zenoira is responsible for the plague that's ravaging Drakenhold.
* CassandraTruth: She tells Hilda that Zenoira is responsible for the MysticalPlague ravaging Drakenhold. Hilda refuses to believe a word of it due to having heard similar and other excuses for the cause of the plague, though she eventually learns her sister was telling the truth after she checks out her story.
* DamselInDistress: Aramis frees her from captivity during the Liberation army's battle with Zenoira...only to dump her in the battlefield as the battle happens around her. She's equal parts terrified and gobsmacked Aramis literally left her in the middle of a warzone, [[WhatTheHellHero later chewing the apologetic man out over this]].
* FormerlyFat: Was pudgy in her youth.
* HiddenBuxom: Her garb does a good job of hiding it, but she's actually pretty stacked.
* HiddenDepths: Looks to be a young cleric out of her depth in the battlefields of Drakenhold, but it soon transpires that she's spent the last few years investigating the plague that befell her hometown with the help of the Orthodoxy. What she discovers can potentially sway Hilda to the side of the Liberation Army.
