----
* ButtMonkey: They bring to mind [[Characters/SurvivorMarquesas Maraamu]] in their sheer incompetence. It got to the point that even Jeff Probst started displaying frustration with them in the recaps. If there wasn't a tribe switch, none of them would have made it to the merge or even the jury.
* EpicFail: They won one reward challenge and all but two immunity challenges. And one of the two immunity victories was won by the [[InNameOnly second swap lineup]], mostly of former Kotas subject to a brief twist.
* FailureHero: Flat sucked in the team stage of the game, and weren't even portrayed as the underdogs for it. They did, however, use the swaps and losses as ammunition to bounce back.
* LawOfChromaticSuperiority: Largely averted; they were the weaker tribe in their first two incarnations, and the second shuffle was InNameOnly. However, the majority alliance held tight during their losing streak and used their losses to send home swapped Kota members and gradually undermine the rivalling Onion Alliance's influence. This continued well across the merge, until the both their finalists lost out to a guy who had never been on the tribe.
* MaliciousMisnaming: A variant at the second swap; Corinne starts pronouncing the name like the actual word 'fang', rather than the usual 'fahng'. She did this to distance herself from the original version having people she disliked and consistently losing challenges.
* RevolvingDoorBand: The two tribe swaps and a ''bad'' losing streak meant only Bob Crowley and Paloma Soto-Castillo never played for this tribe.
* TurnCoat: Randy Bailey hated being on the losing tribe and took Jacquie Berg's place in the Onion Alliance from the swap onward. In turn, Kelly Czarnecki ratted on the Kotas's plans, despite not lasting long herself.

-->'''Members (swap 2):''' Bob Crowley, '''Crystal Cox''', '''Kenny Hoang''', Marcus Lehman, Susie Smith

----
* CurbStompBattle: Even the first tribe swap didn't weigh them down, and the second one was arguably InNameOnly.
* LawOfChromaticSuperiority: Inverted. They did suffer a bit in the merge, but they won almost all the team challenges and the season's winner was somebody who never played on the red-colored Fang.
* RevolvingDoorBand: A result of two tribe swaps. But Fang's losing streak meant more players came to there than Kota.
* ShowyInvincibleHero: They won all but three challenges, and that third one came from [[InNameOnly the second swap]].
* TeamSpirit: They didn't always get along, but most of the tribe was in Marcus and Charlie's Onion Alliance. This was mostly unbroken by the swaps, but by then Fang had caught up to even the score.

-->'''Namesake/ color:''' Anadrome of "Gabon"/ blue

The merged tribe.
----
* AHouseDivided: The alliances were ''firmly'' split down tribal lines, with Sugar and the idols being the key outliers. Even the final tribal council amounted to pre-existing alliances.
[[/folder]]

!Finalists

[[folder:1st. Robert "Bob" Crowley]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/s17_bob_crowley.jpg]]
-->'''Age/ home/ job:''' 57/ Portland, Maine/ physics teacher
-->'''Tribe:''' Kota -> Kota -> Kota -> Nobag

----
* AwesomeByAnalysis: Almost all the puzzle challenges were won by him, both before and after the merge.
* CoolOldGuy: In a more laid-back way, in contrast to the harsher Randy Bailey.
* CoolTeacher: He teaches Sugar and the Kotas about surviving in the wild, and is among the oldest winners of ''Survivor'' ever.
* CrazyEnoughToWork: His fake idols were so good, people actually fell for them multiple times.
* DarkHorseVictory: Ironic given how Kota '''dominated''' the tribal portion of the game. But he was pushing 60 in the wild and outlasted his alliance by constantly winning immunity.
* {{Determinator}}: After the merge, he did everything he could short of winning every immunity to stay in the game.
* DirtyOldMan: Not shown in the show, but rumors spread that Bob would grope women at night. These rumors were confirmed by Kenny in a Reddit AMA in 2015.
* HappilyMarried
* TheHero: Once Marcus and Charlie are gone, he gets center stage to counteract the Fang Alliance.
* IntergenerationalFriendship: With Sugar.
* KarmaHoudini: Randy still voted for him despite Bob participating in his humiliation, most likely because he hated Susie more and Sugar most of all.
* LawOfChromaticSuperiority: Subverted and ultimately Defied. Bob was never part of the red Fang Tribe before the merge, and he beats two former Fang members in the finals to win. Another interesting thing is that had Matty won, it'd have been played entirely straight because he'd have been the only person never to have left the Fang tribe and would have beaten people who had been Kota members.
* MentorArchetype: Bob has a ton of wisdom from his outdoor experience throughout his life, which he shares with his tribemates. Sugar feel particularly impacted by Bob's imparting wisdom to her, and that probably played a role in her wanting him to be in the final 3 over Matty.
* NiceGuy: Noticeable in how he doesn't ostracize Sugar like the others.
* OlderHeroVsYoungerVillain: He later becomes the "older hero" to Kenny's "younger villain".
* OneDegreeOfSeparation: He was [[Characters/SurvivorVanuatu Julie Berry]]'s high school physics teacher.
* SharpDressedMan: Already notable before he uses his buff as a bow-tie.
* TheSmartGuy: He squared off against Kenny in puzzles well before the merge brought any scheming to light.
* StoicSpectacles: He and Matty were the least prone getting upset and sporting visible energy.
* SoleSurvivor: The oldest one to do so.
* TeamDad: To Kota.
* TokenGoodTeammate: Of the Onion Alliance, morphing him into a straight hero when he outlasts them and wins.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:2nd/3rd. Jesusita "Susie" Smith]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/s17_susie_smith.jpg]]
-->'''Age/ home/ job:''' 47/ Charles City, Iowa/ hairstylist
-->'''Tribe:''' Fang -> Kota -> Kota -> Fang

----
* AlliterativeName: But only with her nickname.
* CatchPhrase: "I can't believe it."
* CoolOldLady: While most people found her incredibly annoying, she was capable of surviving all the way through the finals by letting the bigger names take each other out and winning a final clutch immunity.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: She won the very first individual immunity challenge, as well as the very last one. And she was just ''one'' vote away from winning the title of SoleSurvivor.
* DefeatingTheUndefeatable: Subverted. She ended Bob's immunity streak at the final immunity challenge, but Bob still won the game.
* IntergenerationalFriendship: With Matty.
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: Susie. Jesusita is kinda hard to pronounce.
* OutOfFocus: One of the most ignored final three contestants in the series. The number of confessionals she had could probably be counted on two hands. Despite this, she was one vote away from the million.
* SitcomArchNemesis: Like Crystal, Susie was somebody Randy hated more than normal.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:2nd/3rd. Jessica "Sugar" Kiper]]
[[quoteright:320:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/s17_sugar_kiper.jpg]]
-->'''Age/ home/ job:''' 29/ New York, New York/ model and actor
-->'''Tribe:''' Kota -> Fang -> Fang -> Nobag

Sugar returned for [[Characters/SurvivorHeroesVsVillains Heroes Vs. Villains]]
----
* AllTheOtherReindeer: Almost all the Kotas hated her and that included all of the Onion Alliance. Despite a massive winning streak, it's entirely possible Kota would have thrown a challenge to get rid of her had she not been traded in a swap. In turn, the Fang Alliance dismissed her as a pawn and were not above turning her against the few people who liked her, or sending her to Exile Island multiple times in a row.
* BadassAdorable: She's a model and played the game with an honest approach. However, she somehow manages to become integral parts of most of the season's many power shifts.
* BreakoutCharacter: Arguably the season's most popular player and the first to return for a second time.
* CelebrityResemblance: To Creator/MarilynMonroe.
* ChronicBackstabbingDisorder: A non-malicious variant. Her loyalties had nothing to do with strategy, but who was nice to her at the time.
* ComingOfAgeStory: She views Survivor as an opportunity to grow and help her get over her father's death.
* DumbBlond: Subverted. She got the idol before anyone else, and was ''quite'' vicious when she wanted to be!
* FlippingTheBird: To Corinne in the final tribal council after Corinne's hateful speech.
* GenkiGirl
* GirlishPigtails: How she styles her hair.
* IntergenerationalFriendship: With Bob Crowley.
* KingmakerScenario: Wound up in the swing vote position at the final four. Susie won the last immunity, and both Bob and Matty were severe jury threats. She couldn't decide between allies Bob and Matty, but Bob was a shoo-in at the firemaking tiebreaker.
* LockedOutOfTheLoop: One of the possible reasons she wasn't voted off was because she was constantly exiled, becoming another just number instead of a clashing personality.
* TheLoad: In challenges early on, ''especially'' the keep-away challenge. She didn't really get better, it just stopped mattering once the social game took hold.
* MsFanservice
* NoDamageRun: No one voted against her, but no one voted ''for'' her either.
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: "Sugar", but goes by "Jessica" in her acting/ modelling gigs.
* ThePawn: She wasn't super loyal to the Fang Alliance, and they only saw her as extra vote.
* PoorCommunicationKills: Misunderstood a good few of the final jury questions and got zero votes for it.
* ProneToTears: Another reason why people picked on her.
* SeeminglyWholesome50sGirl: Looks the part and has a long history of modelling for these kinds of jobs.
[[/folder]]

!Jury members

[[folder:4th. Matty Whitmore]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/s17_matty_whitmore.jpg]]
-->'''Age/ home/ job:''' 29/ Pacific Palisades, California/ fitness trainer
-->'''Tribe:''' Fang -> Fang -> Fang -> Nobag

----
* TheAce: Being, undoubtedly, the best physical asset on Fang, and also having good strategic and social positions that landed him in the "fallen angel" spot.
* TheBigGuy: The strongest person on Fang, and the only member to stay on it the entire game. He couldn't carry them, but it gave all the fewer reason to send him home.
* BornUnlucky: Spent half the game placed on Fang, who were so weak a tribe swap made them ''worse''. Post-merge, he starts getting a target on his back because of his challenge prowess, despite the fact he keeps losing to a 57-year-old teacher. He loses the final immunity challenge to a lucky break from Susie, and is forced into a tiebreaker when Sugar can't decide between him or Bob. Bob defeats him in the firemaking contest, and he just misses the finals.
* TheGenericGuy: The Fang tribe had more eccentric people than Kota, and he was not one of them. His usually laid-back demeanor and strength in challenges made no target until the merge.
* HotBlooded: Especially in challenges, and to some degree at camp.
* IntergenerationalFriendship: With Susie. Later developed one with Randy as well.
* LaughingMad: Cracks in his mental stamina show in an endurance challenge against Bob, who he got sick of losing to.
* RichesToRags: His backstory was that he got a 20,000 dollar trust fund that he blew on drugs. Part of his motivation was to win the million was to make up for it.
* SlasherSmile: Didn't like to gloat about the Fang Alliance's blindesides, but sometimes he couldn't help himself by grinning snidely. A very noticeable example is after Marcus's elimination.
* TokenGoodTeammate: He was easily the nicest and most level-headed member of the Fang alliance.
* WackyMarriageProposal: Proposes to his girlfriend during the loved ones visit, handing her a necklace he made whilst on Gabon. She said yes.
* WorthyOpponent: The reason why everyone wanted him gone post-merge was his challenge ability. He's also the only guy that most people on the cast actually respect. When the jury was asked, five-sevenths of them said they'd vote for him if he made it to the finals.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:5th. Ken "Kenny" Hoang]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/s17_ken_hoang.jpg]]
-->'''Age/ home/ job:''' 22/ Westminster, California/ professional video game player
-->'''Tribe:''' Fang -> Fang -> Kota -> Nobag

----
* AsianAndNerdy: Ken was champion video game player and a fan of Survivor before playing.
* AscendedFanboy
* BigBad: Called "the ultimate mastermind" by Matty during the "Rites of Passage" segment, he managed to control the votes using his alliance while he was on the losing tribe, taking out multiple power players consecutively.
* CelebritySurvivor: Although certainly not to the extent of later players like [[Characters/SurvivorNicaragua Jimmy Johnson]] and [[Characters/SurvivorPhilippines Lisa Whelchel]]; but Hoang was already a well-known professional ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBros'' player by the time he was on the show and won three Major League Gaming championships in a row from 2004 to 2006.
* TheChessmaster: Took a leading position when it came time to strategize, and briefly usurped control of the whole game.
* DrunkWithPower: Pretty much the moment Corinne is voted off does his true self shine, which is kind of a bastard.
* EvilGenius: The go-to-guy for Fang when it came to puzzles, squaring off against Bob most of the time. He later becomes the brains of their majority alliance, causing the fall of the Onions.
* FromNobodyToNightmare: Starting out as an awkward nerd on the perpetually-losing Fang tribe, he steadily becomes the main driving strategic force of the season, orchestrating multiple blindsides and betrayals.
* GameMaster: Quite a literal example; he is a professional gamer and won many tournaments for his skill in Super Smash Brothers. He didn't do too badly here, either.
* GeekPhysiques: He's already super thin, and the lack of food exaggerates it.
* GracefulLoser: Zig-zagged; he took his blindside pretty well, though he was still grilled Bob at the final tribal council for it.
* HugeGirlTinyGuy: An non-romantic example with Crystal.
* ManipulativeBastard: Most notably when he convinced Sugar and Susie to flip and get Ace and Marcus voted out, respectively.
* NothingCanStopUsNow: He became ''extremely'' cocky about himself after Fang took control during the merge.
* OddFriendship: He's allied with Crystal Cox, who was more aggressive and physical than him. Despite that, she was his closest ally and they have a friendship still going to this day.
* OlderHeroVsYoungerVillain: Despite starting off as the underdog, he later became the "younger villain" to Bob's "older hero".
* TheSmartGuy: Pre-merge, Fang called on him whenever a puzzle needed solving. Post-merge, he controlled the biggest opposition to the Onion Alliance. He also got an individual immunity by aligning dominos ''just'' right.
* SmugSnake: Openly admitted he got this way after the season wrapped.
* TagAlongKid: Started out like this, but progressed into TheSmartGuy, and then finally TheChessmaster.
* TookALevelInBadass / TookALevelInJerkass: As the season progressed he became a very strong strategic player, and he got overconfident about his own abilities.
* UngratefulBastard: Openly showed frustration with Bob keeping his immunity, despite openly declaring his intention to vote him out.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:6th. Crystal Cox]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/s17_crystal_cox.jpg]]
-->'''Age/ home/ job:''' 29/ Durham, North Carolina/ Olympic gold medalist relay runner
-->'''Tribe:''' Fang -> Fang -> Kota -> Nobag

----
* AlliterativeName
* ArchEnemy: Randy gave her the most shit and she always returned the favor.
* TheBrute: Shes' terrible at challenges, but she is very physically imposing and was seen as a bully in her strategizing.
* TheCobblersChildrenHaveNoShoes: Granted, she ''was'' part of a relay team and admitted to using steroids in 2010 and a lot of challenges didn't favor running... but even then, you'd think a gold medalist would be better. She made sure to not make herself a thread by claiming she was a homemaker and kindergarten teacher, which backfired when people started to believe it more than her real background.
* TheDragon: To Kenny, who were fast friends on Fang. Kenny came up with the plans on the Fang Alliance, while she backed up his (typically manipulative) claims.
* FauxActionGirl: One of the standout examples of the series. She lasted long because of the social game and absolutely not the physical one.
* HairTriggerTemper: Usually she just intimidated people into being easier for Kenny to manipulate by getting on ''somebody's'' case, but she also had limited patience on a regular basis.
* InformedAbility: On paper, she would seem like one of the best female challenge players to enter Survivor. Instead, she had one of the worst challenge performances in Survivor history, even beaten by the likes of [[GeekPhysiques Kenny]]. When Randy told the Kotas she was indeed in the Olympics and not a homemaker, nobody on Kota believed him.
* LargeHam: Whenever her arguments escalate, she winds up like this.
* LaserGuidedKarma: Feeling she had a finalist position locked, she decides that it would be cool to shit on Matty because he was next on the chopping block. It weakened her alliance further and made sure she and Kenny had no chance to recover.
* MusclesAreMeaningless: Has an imposing frame, but it was an asset to her in exactly one challenge. They're meaningless when she doesn't have the strength, agility, or endurance to go along with it.
* NoIndoorVoice: Her famous ConfessionCam statement when voting out Randy, which the whole tribal council was able to hear:
-->"You have made my life hell from day one! Forget you! Go home! Goodbye!"
* OddFriendship: Her closest ally was Kenny Hoang, a meek and conniving strategist; but they remain friends to this day.
* OneDegreeOfSeparation: Crystal Cox's cousin is one of Marcus's really good friends. It didn't affect anything, as the only met each other late into the game.
* PaperTiger: Even she was embarrassed by just how much of a weakling she was.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:7th. Corinne Kaplan]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/s17_corinne_kaplan.jpg]]
-->'''Age/ home/ job:''' 29/ Los Angeles, California/ pharmacy salesperson
-->'''Tribe:''' Kota -> Kota -> Fang -> Nobag

Corinne would return to compete in [[Characters/SurvivorCaramoan Caramoan: Fans vs Favorites 2]]
----
* AlphaBitch: She loved hanging out with rich, cool yuppies like Marcus and Charlie, and referred to them as "the cool kids:. Meanwhile, she hated the Fang tribe and refers to them as "mutants" and openly attacked Kota's weak links (read: Sugar).
* AmusingInjuries
* TheBaroness: The primary villainess of the season. If not for her openly targeting Dan and wanting to stab Susie in the face, then definitely for mocking Sugar's dead dad. If you consider the Onion Alliance to be more heroic, she is unquestionably the TokenEvilTeammate.
* BerserkButton: Do ''not'' refer to her as a good girl.
* BreakoutVillain: She returned as a "favorite" in Caramoan.
* CardCarryingVillain: Unfortunately overshadowed by Randy, but she was rather vicious when she managed to get screen time though.
* TheChewToy: Got a bunch of injuries and was thrown in many directions by the twists. She at least managed to get far.
* JerkAss: Had no mercy about shit-talking people behind their backs. And in the case of Sugar, she guiltlessly insulted her to face.
** JerkAssHasAPoint: Her gambit to survive the TotalPartyKill of the Onions with Bob relied on Bob's fake idol, Ken's desire to make game-changing moves, and Crystal's following of Ken. Had Ken not overplanned the situation and tried to flush the idol out as well as vote out Matty, it would have ''worked''.
* MsFanservice: But this is balanced out by her being mean towards weaker players and anyone annoying her.
* MyDeathIsJustTheBeginning: Bordering on ThanatosGambit: she wrecked the Fang Alliance by making Kenny overthink the vote with a fake idol and have him vote for ''Matty''. It made not only Matty turn on them, but also Sugar, who just barely was involved to begin with.
* OneDegreeOfSeparation: Wasn't a fan of the show, but [[Characters/SurvivorAfrica Ethan Zohn]] recommended she audition. Despite knowing nothing about ''Survivor'' prior, she wound up falling in love with while playing.
* PluckyGirl: In her own way, especially once the Onions were down to just her and Bob.
* SpannerInTheWorks
* TallDarkAndSnarky
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Gave one of the most vicious final jury speeches in Survivor history:
--> "Sugar. You are an unemployed, uneducated leech on society, and the only thing I would vote to give you is a handful of antidepressants so no one else has to be subjected to your constant crying anymore, and maybe if you got some then it would seem a little more sincere when you are crying about your dead father. You don't deserve the million."
[[/folder]]

[[folder:8th. Randy Bailey]]
[[quoteright:320:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/s17_randy_bailey.jpg]]
-->'''Age/ home/ job:''' 49/ Eagle Rock, Missouri/ videographer
-->'''Tribe:''' Fang -> Kota -> Fang -> Nobag

Randy would return for [[Characters/SurvivorHeroesVsVillains Heroes vs. Villains]].
----
* AccentuateTheNegative: The basic premise of "Operation Let Other People Crash and Burn", and [[JerkAss how he acted in general]].
* AscendedFanboy: Would you believe that he's been applying for the show since right before ''[[Characters/SurvivorPearlIslands Pearl Islands]]''?
* BadassBookworm
* BrutalHonesty: Best summed up when he first arrives at Kota:
--> "I will do my best despite hating each and every one of you."
* CallBack: His jury vote was a clear response to the HumiliationConga that sent him home:
--> "ALL THREE OF YOU! [[PunctuatedForEmphasis KISS! MY!! ASSSS!!!]]"
* CardCarryingVillain: Less villain more Jerkass, but he still applies.
* CoolOldGuy: Comes off this way with all the snarking and general ''Survivor'' genre-savviness.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Averted. Jeff Probst said that if he had made it to the loved ones challenge, nobody would have visited him.
* GenreSavvy: Not only did he know he was cast as a villain and played it up accordingly, but he made up for his physical/ strategic weaknesses by exacerbating any negative press another person got. He called this "Operation Let Other People Crash and Burn", and used it whenever heat was on him and it made up for his physical and social weaknesses...
** WrongGenreSavvy: ...but he got greedy on his final day. When the Onion Alliance imploded and he became a genuine target, he decided to get everyone's votes piled onto him so he could use an idol cancel them out. He called this "Operation Strongarm" and it would have worked if Bob gave him, you know, a ''real'' idol.
* GrumpyOldMan: Could not be more open about how he hated the other contestants, hated being in the wild, hated dealing with gameplay twists, and how he a hated lot about life altogether. Contrast his attitude with Bob Crowley, who was usually pretty level-headded; and the cheerful Gillian Larson, who was older than the both of them.
* HiddenDepths: An I.Q. test was given to every contestant. Would you believe he was actually behind ''Marcus'' at the top?
* HumiliationConga: At the tribal council he was voted out in, he overheard rival Crystal Cox [[SugarWiki/FunnyMoments yelling at him to the confession cam]], was tricked into playing a fake idol, and had his planning that entire day amount to nothing.
* JadedWashout: The closest thing to [[Series/MarriedWithChildren Al Bundy]] the show has ever seen.
* JerkAss: [[GenreSavvy Played up this aspect of his personality the whole season]]. He spent the majority of his screentime complaining about something, mocking someone, or doing both at once.
** JerkassHasAPoint: He's especially vicious about calling G.C. an incompetent leader. Unlike most other villains on the show, the edit typically backs him up.
** JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Despite being a CardCarryingVillain, he understands ''Survivor'' is just a game and didn't act rude to Crystal on Ponderosa like the other Onion Alliance people did.
* OhCrap: His expression when he realizes just how badly Bob suckered him.
* SurroundedByIdiots: Complains constantly about how stupid the people around him are, especially Susie. The finale especially pissed him off, because he had to vote between Susie (somebody he personally hated), Bob (who sent him home), and Sugar (somebody he personally hated ''[[BreadEggsBreadedEggs and]]'' sent him home).
* TurnCoat: To the Onion alliance. Despite originally being on the Fang tribe, he essentially took [[ICouldaBeenAContender Jacquie]]'s place as being a core member.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:9th. Charlie Herschel]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/s17_charlie_herschel.jpg]]
-->'''Age/ home/ job:''' 29/ New York, New York/ lawyer
-->'''Tribe:''' Kota -> Kota -> Fang -> Nobag

----
* CampGay/ StraightGay: Oscillated a bit. He would sound very camp to the ConfessionCam, yet would downplay it to everyone else.
* DeadpanSnarker
* TheDragon/ NumberTwo: Depending on if you see him as a villain or not, since he was second-in-command for the Onion Alliance and never in any underdog spot. The alliance got its name from how there were several layers of people [[TheLeader Marcus]] trusted and only Charlie ever joined the core position.
* {{Irony}}: His first confessional in the game was remarking about how Crystal chose Susie in the tribe pick 'em, remarking something like "Don't you wanna ''win'' challenges?". Come his boot episode, she wins individual immunity and ''he's'' the one voted out. Granted, he was right for the entire team phase.
* NiceGuy: Jeff Probst calls Charlie one of the nicest people in the season, especially given how he finds the good sides of both [[AlphaBitch Corinne]] and [[JadedWashout Randy]]. In the Ponderosa vids, he didn't like isolating Crystal and found it petty, but he was scared that Marcus and Corinne would disown him.
* OddFriendship: Lampshaded in the finale. Charlie is one of the nicest people on the show, yet is great friends with [[CardCarryingVillain Corinne and Randy]], the two absolute meanest.
* ShipTease: Charlie shared a platonic friendship with Marcus, though the [[ManipulativeEditing editing]] tried to make it so that Charlie had a crush on him.
* TheSmartGuy: Of the Kota six, as assumed by the original Fang tribe. Kenny painted him this way as an excuse to vote him for outing the idol clue. The way he speaks reinforced this idea in their head, which got him eliminated.

----
* TheAce: Even moreso than the guy actually named 'Ace'.
* BeingGoodSucks: Trusted Crystal because he was best friends with her cousin, and was willing to adjust his play to give her leeway. It didn't pan out and got him sent home before the merge.
* DecoyProtagonist: The audience was sure he was going to win, to the point that people complained how obvious it was. He was young, male, handsome, great at challenges, the glue that held the Onion alliance together, and was heavily favored by the edit. The second he was voted out caused gambler types to panic.
* DiabolusExMachina: Had it not been for a ''second'' tribe swap, which acted like a [[Characters/SurvivorThailand fake merge]], chances are he would have made it to the finals.
* DiscOneFinalBoss: More "Disc'''Two'''FinalBoss" given Ace was thrown out a bit before, but ultimately not the big threat he was made out to be. For Kenny and Crystal, since he was the leader of Kota. For the audience, it's even more impactful, because he and Charlie ran the other big alliance.
* TheLeader: Of the Onion alliance and Kota more broadly.
* MrFanservice: While a handsome man who gets shirtless a lot is enough to qualify, his dick hangs out in one episode uncensored so there's definitely that.
* NiceGuy: A big part of why he was a compelling leader for the Kotas and got away with a large alliance. Even to his opponents he's very polite and actually apologizes to Kenny when voting for him. His final words were best wishes for Bob, because he knew that he was the next on the chopping block. And despite not liking Sugar, he mentions in the finale that he understands both Sugar and Corinne, and phrases a response so that neither look bad.
* OneDegreeOfSeparation: Crystal Cox's cousin is one of Marcus's best friends. They didn't know beforehand, and it was too late for that to help him.
* ShipTease: With Corinne and [[HoYay with Charlie]]. Very early on he had a thing going on with Jaquie, to the point that the other tribe members were scared of another [[Characters/SurvivorAllStars Romber]] situation.
* SoreLoser: Was upset with Crystal during his time at Ponderosa. But this was less due to being voted out as much as it was being lied to.
* StandardizedLeader: Just your resident handsome dude compared to [[GrumpyOldMan Randy]], [[AlphaBitch Corinne]], and [[NumberTwo Charlie]].
* ThrowTheDogABone: After his team had exiled Sugar a few times, he decides to give her the individual immunity necklace.

----
* BigEater: One of the things that irked the new Kota was him eating vast amounts of rice, but imposing rations later.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: And he actually ''was'' a lawyer! After Sugar, he made it the furthest without being in an alliance.
* EpicFail: His search for idol on Exile Island. The first clue is to look for a sandy crater across the lake. He tries searching for a sandy crater INSIDE the lake and winds up with nothing to show for his time.
* ItAmusedMe: He says that they keep sending Sugar to exile for humor reasons.
* {{Keet}}
* NiceGuy: The game got to him by the end, but he was nice enough to get on the good side of ''[[JadedWashout Randy]]''.
* NoSocialSkills: Despite being less cutthroat and more outwardly kind than the majority of the cast, he was always this. Corinne outright said he was socially inept and paranoid, and he kept embarrassing himself in front of the swapped Kotas. Kota's continued winning streak and inner conflict did help him, but they never believed he couldn't find the idol and made him the primary target of a split vote with him and Susie.

----
* AwesomeMcCoolname: Despite being raised in England, it has the vibes of WackyAmericansHaveWackyNames.
* BaldOfEvil: A nasty schemer on Kota and obvious mole for Fang. Absolutely no hair on his head and limited facial hair too.
* ContrivedCoincidence: Asked Sugar for her idol ''right'' after the Fang alliance manipulated her into thinking he only spoke to her for it. He probably would have been sent packing regardless, but Sugar is so pissed off that she wrote "[[PrecisionFStrike ACE-HOLE]]]" on her vote.
* DiscOneFinalBoss: Consistently tried to build an alliance, but little came thru. Fang's losses put his grifting on the spot, and their majority alliance uses it to send him packing.
* EvilBrit: Definitely a sleazy member of the cast and his exact Englandic accent is closer to RP than Cockney.
* GeniusBruiser: Has an air of eloquence thanks to his British accent, and was decent at social strategy. He's also just behind Matty as the best athlete on Fang.
* LeaderWannabe: Poised himself as the leader of Kota, but everyone followed Marcus instead.
* {{Malaproper}}: He said he planned on pulling a "coup de grâce" (a mercy kill/ French for "hit of grace") when Sugar returns, even though the correct term would've been "coup d'état" (a mutiny/ "hit of a state"). He also pronounced it like "coup de gras" ("hit of fat", think 'Mardi Gras' meaning "fat Tuesday"), but to his credit that's a common mistake anyway.
* OohMeAccentsSlipping: Certain viewers noticed that his accent occasionally went in and out, but during the reunion show, he confirmed that he indeed was British. He was simply born in New York state and spend most of his life in England. However, his siblings don't have it, and it did sometimes fade in that reunion show.
* SitcomArchNemesis: Briefly with Paloma, then with Kelly.
* SmallNameBigEgo: He was outclassed as a leader on Kota, and thought he was running the swapped Fang tribe.

----
* TheLoad: What she was accused being a challenge hinderance of back on Kota, and would have been targeted if they lost even one other challenge. She survived the tribe swap by being an informant for Fang, who realized why she was traded and soon voted her out for that reason.
* RewardedAsATraitorDeserves: But unlike most ''Survivor'' examples, the Fangs kicked her out for her track record in challenges, not just because they didn't need her help anymore. Ace was saved for later was his physical strength, despite the fact he could not be less loyal to them.
* SitcomArchNemesis: With Ace after refusing to vote out Paloma, and with Jacquie on the swapped Fang.
* SmugSnake
* TagalongKid: Kelly was the youngest contestant of the season.
* ValleyGirl: Sometimes talked like this, despite being from a Chicago suburb.

* DespairEventHorizon: In his last episode, he all but begs to be sent home.
--> "I've suffered all my life. I just want to stop suffering."
* LazyBum: His depression made him slack around camp and ignore challenges.
* TheLeader: Fully aware of what being a leader entails and is forced into the role. He steps off because he's incapable of handling it. He was as much of a factor in Fang's losing streak as their weak lineup.
* TheLoad: His laziness cost the tribe some challenges, like when he refused to continue digging during a challenge where Fang was already behind.
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: G.C., which stands for "Golden Child". Nobody ever called him the full version on the show or in any side bio.
* SanitySlippage: Quickly came to hate the wilderness, and being put in the leader position accelerated his despair. At one point he takes a boat out for himself and almost misses going to an immunity challenge.
* StandardizedLeader: Despite being on good terms with most of the tribe, he was not qualified. He had to be forced into the position when Gillian was sent home, and then asked to be voted out himself not long after. Probably a big part of Fang being an awful tribe.
* SuicideByCop: Asked to be voted out. His laziness did rub his tribe the wrong way, but he was in a good alliance that considered saving him for later.

----
* TheAce: For an early boot, she had a lot of potential. She's a good social player, being a member of both of her tribe's alliances, and is enough of a physical asset that the Kota tribe genuinely considered keeping her to help win challenges. Unfortunately, she was one of the most notorious tribe swap victims since [[Characters/SurvivorAfrica Silas Gaither]].
* AintTooProudToBeg: When the first tribe swap happens, she's immediately down in numbers. Though she's close with Ace, she's stuck with four Fang members and Kelly, who was not fond of her former tribemates. Her final episode is spent begging and pleading with the tribe to keep her over Kelly. Fang ultimately denied these requests, because they knew she was as good at the social game as much as the physical one.
* DiabolusExMachina: One of the more notable people to get screwed over by the tribe switch.
* ICouldaBeenAContender: If not for the first tribe swap, Jacquie probably would have done well, securing a position in the Onion alliance while also being aligned with Ace and Sugar. That position was taken by Randy Bailey, who probably had a better time with Kota than Fang. Kelly Czarnecki, one of the few Kotas she didn't get along with, got the Fang alliance to take her out as a threat.
* ThePerfectionist: Pre-season, she talked about how she works 80 hours a week and is really intense.
* RomanceOnTheSet: While Jacquie was on Survivor, she and producer Tyler Ramsey had a fling out in the jungle. He was fired, and the two married after the show.
* ShipTease: Briefly with Marcus. The two of them would go off and share boat rides together while the other tribe members would get suspicious. It's never followed up on, and her romance on set was with producer Tyler Ramsey.
* WorthyOpponent: Crystal doesn't regret voting her off, but she felt bad about it because Jacquie genuinely wanted to keep on playing and was a potentially strong asset.

----
* AccentuateTheNegative: On Kota, there were two clear weak links: Paloma and Sugar. Sugar was [[TheChessmaster Ace]]'s closest ally, but Paloma was his harshest critic. Ace had the plan to make Paloma do heavy lifting in an immunity challenge, so that the rest of tribe could see how weak she was and choose to get rid of her.
* GirlishPigtails: Had her hair like this as much as it was down.
* TheLoad: Enough to be sent home on one of Kota's two losses.
* SitcomArchNemesis: To Ace, who made the Kotas lose a challenge just to get rid of her.

* AscendedFangirl:
* CoolOldLady: The oldest player and among the sharpest. One of her first acts is identifying elephant dung as a fire-maker.
* TheLeader: She and second-oldest player Bob Crowley were asked by Jeff Probst to start the schoolyard pick for the season's teams, but she generally only took this role at camp and never in challenges.
* TheLoad: Needed the help of two people in order to climb up a hill. She was even pushed aside so that Fang could roll the boulder properly. Needless to say, this was the primary reason she got booted.
** Amusingly, even ''she'' beat Olympic gold medalist Crystal Cox at a footrace in the opening challenge.
* TheMedic: Well, they assumed she would take this role, being a nurse and all that. When Randy had a cut on his face, they wanted her to take a look at it. Without proper medical equipment (and a light source), they had to call on the actual medics instead.
* ThePollyanna: It got on everyone's nerves, despite the fact they voted out downer Michelle Chase right before her. In fact, Michelle's sole vote was for Gillian.

* TheCynic: Didn't act negative as often as Randy, but wasn't ever joking when she was.
* TheComplainerIsAlwaysWrong: Voted out for her bad attitude, which is hardly uncommon. However, many of her complaints seem accurate in hindsight, and voting out one of the athletes in a largely unatheltic tribe was not a smart move.
* MsFanservice: For the brief time she was around.
* ShipTease: With Kenny. Needless to say, it didn't last.
