->In-game name: WebVideo/Technoblade\
Preferred name: Techno\
"Tommy, the thing is, you're using words... but the thing about this world, Tommy, is that the only universal language is violence, and we've had that conversation."

A feared PVP legend brought in by Wilbur to help fight Jschlatt's tyranny. However, Techno had no personal stake in Pogtopia, and as a result, was more of a WildCard willing to do whatever it takes to keep things interesting. This wound up backfiring hard for the Pogtopians, as Techno teamed up with Wilbur to destroy Manburg once and for all.\
\
After the destruction of Manburg, Techno swore off his violent ways and retreated to a snowy biome to go into retirement alongside Philza, who became disillusioned with L'Manburg after his son Wilbur's death. However, this changed when Phil was put under house arrest and L'Manburg tried (and failed) to execute Techno himself. Out of revenge for himself and his friend, Techno renewed his conflict with L'Manburg and came out of retirement to become the nation's worst enemy. This culminated in the Doomsday War, where Techno and Phil allied with Dream to leave a smoking crater where L'Manburg once was.\
\
After L'Manburg's final destruction, Techno seems to have entered retirement once more, as with L'Manburg gone, no significant government remains for the Anarchists to fight. Since then, he has also founded The Syndicate with Phil to prevent any other significant government entity from forming, or at least gaining enough power to become tyrannical, as well as to fight against what he believes to be tyranny. Techno was trapped in Pandora's Vault as Dream's roommate, imprisoned there by Sam out of fear that Techno will break Dream out of prison. He was later warped out of the prison by Philza using the Ender Pearl Stasis Chamber.\
\
Although Techno did eventually break Dream out of Pandora's Vault, the jailbreak cost Ranboo his life, motivating Techno to get his revenge on Sam for killing Ranboo, and to honour Ranboo's presumed final wish to save his adopted son Michael alongside Tubbo.\
\
Techno has one life left. Unlike the vast majority of the server, he only ever had one life to begin with. %%He is implied to have died in the canon offscreen. After his real life death in June 2022, this has most likely been rendered irrelevant.

* ArchEnemy: For a more subdued example, Techno and Quackity are this towards each other, being each other's antithesis. They each thrive in an environment which would make the other weakTechno works best in a world where MightMakesRight and believes that violence is the most universal language, but is very socially awkward; whereas Quackity is a charismatic talker and a businessman through and through, and is a NonActionGuy at heart who preferred to fight with words instead of weapons (but was forced to abandon these beliefs because of the MightMakesRight mentality of the server), and have respectively caused each other tremendous amounts of grief and trauma throughout the series and even before it began (read: Minecraft Mondays). This is why it was such a shocker for them to team up against the Eggpire during the Red Banquet, a fact that both of them lampshade.
* AttentionDeficitOohShiny: Techno claims to have a bad attention span when listing his flaws during the Manburg Festival. Considering that the man who plays the character had ADHD in real life, this may be justified and point to his character having the disorder as well. He has previously demonstrated it while meeting up with Wilbur and Tommy just after he joined the server, being distracted by the to-be-named L'Dog running around while Wilbur is speaking to him. invoked
* BadassBoast:
** Does one when Quackity comments that he'd rather fight a bear than Techno.
--->Techno: I feel like you'd have better odds against the bear, if I'm being honest.
** He gets another one in the same day just to boast about his NighInvulnerable status.
--->Techno: I remember all eight of the times I've died in Minecraft, you don't need to tell me.
** And another one just before duelling Quackity in the Final Control Room.
--->Techno: Do you think you're enough to kill me? Even unarmed, with iron armor, do you really think you can take me?!
* BaritoneOfStrength: Techno speaks with a very low baritone and is considered to be one of the best [=PVPers=] in the game.
* TheBeastmaster: Techno commands a massive army of dogs and often uses withers in battle.
* BerserkButton:
** Do not betray Techno or make him feel as if was betrayed. That is a one-way ticket to get getting your country bombed.
** Corrupt governments (or just governments in general) and making him feel as if he's just a weapon to be used also gets under his skin.
* BigBadDuumvirate: He and Dream serve as the main antagonists of the Doomsday War.
* BigDamnHeroes: He, Quackity, and Purpled serve as this during the Red Banquet, arriving fully armed and with Techno's Hound Army behind them in order to rescue the people that the Eggpire had planned to murder.
* BigNo: When Ranboo is killed, he says this trope and immediately tries to kill both Sam and Bad.
* BlatantLies: Attempts to persuade Sam that he won't break Dream out of prison by saying that he never defies authority and that he loves authority. This is Hangingd by Sam soon after.
-->Sam: I think we both know that's probably not true.
* BloodKnight: Though a member of Pogtopia at the current time, he has lamented that there's not enough fighting going on for his liking, even going as far as considering joining Schlatt, just to make things more interesting.
-->Philza: I mean, once Techno gets a taste for blood, everything's getting yeeted. You just have to avoid. You have to avoid his wrath. Get the fuck out. Run. (laughs) If you're a player, in the server, he's going to hit you! That's how it goes. And if you're in the way, that's– you're in his way.
* BombThrowingAnarchists: This is Techno's modus operandi; Techno intends on causing as much chaos and action as needed, regardless of which side he takes. After all, in the midst of chaos, there is also opportunity.
-->Technoblade: (during the Doomsday War) You know what? I'm feelin' merciful. If you guys all back off and let me blow up this country, you can live!
* BoomerangBigot: He hates orphans because they killed his parents... making him an orphan who hates other orphans for making him an orphan.
* BrainyPig: Techno's skin is a PigMan, and, despite what first impressions might suggest, he has an extensive knowledge of Myth/ClassicalMythology and often quotes Creator/SunTzu. This can be attributed to how the content creator himself used to be an English major.
* BreakingTheFourthWall: Often references the absurdity of the roleplay in the server, even through key moments of the plot. He was also the first member of the SMP whose conversations with his chat were made canon (explained as having voices in his head).
* BroughtDownToBadass: While escaping execution after having to surrender most of his gear, he killed Quackity with only iron armor and a pickaxe. He continued using the pickaxe as his only weapon until he got his old gear back and at one time was equally matched against 3 people while using it.
* BrutalHonesty: When Dream questions why Technoblade thinks that they are not out of options, Techno responds that Dream is out of options while Techno "actually has friends". This could be interpreted as Techno mocking Dream's VirtueIsWeakness mentality towards attachments on top of him trusting Philza would break him out with the Ender Pearl Stasis Chamber.
* CerebusRetcon: Technoblade's NighInvulnerable status, which had often been PlayedForLaughs, comes across as this with the reveal that people don't have multiple lives where he's from. If this is true, then it's likely he became as powerful as he is out of necessity, as one mistake could leave him dead for good, unlike most people who get at least 2 extra lives.
* CharacterCatchphrase: "Blood for the Blood God."
%%* ChuckCunninghamSyndrome: Due to his content creator counterpart passing on from cancer in June 2022, it is unlikely for Techno the character to appear in the series again. [=Ph1lza=]'s final lore stream implies he has died or at least disappeared, but nothing is specified.
* ComedicSociopathy: His hatred of orphans is played for laughs.
* CrazyPrepared:
** Before the final battle between Pogtopia and Manburg, Techno leads his side to a secret vault filled with Netherite armor, enchanted weapons, potions and more.
--->Quackity: How much free time do you have?!
** After making a deal with Tommy, he reveals another vault near his new base, which are covered on the walls with enough Wither Skulls to produce up to 55 Withers.
* DeadpanSnarker: His sarcasm and deadpan delivery are some of the things he's known for, but it's even funnier considering how everyone else tends to be.
* Dehumanization: One of the things Techno hates is being dehumanized by others, namely in the sense that they only see him as "The Blade"; so while he was initially okay with Tommy calling him that back in the Pogtopia arc, as time passed and he felt people saw just as a warrior, his opinion on it soured. Unfortunately, he didn't tell anyone this until the Doomsday War when he started to accuse Tommy of "using him from the start" and, well, only seeing him as "The Blade", with little to no previous provocation.
* DidntThinkThisThrough: At one point, he uses a magma block to get a skeleton wearing a jack-o-lantern into his underwater base so he can preserve it.Magma blocks pull all entities in the water directly above it downwards when placed underwater. The skeleton does get sucked down to his base, but then it dies to the magma block.
* DisabilityImmunity: When Bad asks him if he can hear the Egg's voice, Techno points out that he's HearingVoices (his stream chat) all the time, implying that said trait is protecting him from being influenced by the Egg.
* DissonantSerenity: Contrasting to Tommy and Ghostbur, who went through a variety of emotions when they were trapped with Dream, Techno reacted to his situation with a level of calmness that Dream is disturbed by.
* TheDreaded: Techno is one of the best [=PVPers=] in the entire game, and his reputation in battle evidently precedes him.
** Apparently, he has had this reputation for quite a while before the events of the SMP.
--->Quackity: One night before Minecraft MondaysWeek 1 to be specific, which took place in late June 2019, [Creator/JunkyJanker and I] got in a call, and we started reading out the list of teams and he said, "Technoblade? And [=ShotGunRaids=]? Those guys are fu– Those guys are fucking monsters! They're awful!" And I was like, I was like, "Dude. Dude, no, they're not, you're– you're exaggerating." To be honest, Techno, I didn't know nothing about you at that point... THEN WE PLAYED MINECRAFT MONDAYS AND, LIKE– YOU RUINED MY FUCKING LIFE.
** His joining Pogtopia was met with an understandable OhCrap from Manburg.
* EnemyMine:
** Despite their misgivings about each other, he and Quackity are willing to team up in order to take down the Eggpire, which has been a thorn in the sides of everyone for quite some time.
** Later on, after Ranboo's death, he's also willing to work with Tubbo, despite the bad history they share, to rescue Michael and to avenge Ranboo.
* TheExecutioner: Technically speaking, he fits under none of the sub-types, as Schlatt asked him to come up to the podium to perform Tubbo's execution without much pre-planning on anyone's part other than Schlatt's own.
* FaceHeelTurn: For the entire Pogtopia vs. Manburg arc, Techno stated that he was against any form of government and wanted to see the land Manburg was on razed to the ground. After the Manburg-Pogtopia War, while the citizens of New L'Manburg were meeting to turn over the government and restore the land, he (non-canonically) killed their new president, Tubbo, released two Withers onto the land, and blew up three stacks of TNT just to clean up what Wilbur missed with his 11 and a half stacks of TNT.
* FatalFlaw:
** One of his biggest flaws is his awful people skills. He may be a good fighter, but when it comes to resisting peer pressure or getting across his ideology, he pretty much falls flat. While Techno has good intentions, pretty much every major conflict he ended finding himself in was as a result of either being unable to ever properly communicate his intentions to others to form a compromise (which may or may not be related to his belief that violence was "the only universal language"), or the anxiety of the situation has him buckle and go against his core beliefs.
** He's also quite stubborn and very uncompromising with what he believes in, namely that governments are something that always results in tyranny and should be eradicated. Even if others think otherwise, he will go through with even destructive acts for those beliefs' sake, which further alienates him from people that would have been his friends. This was something L'Manberg learned the hard way, though in that case, one can argue it had more to do with the next vice of Techno's...
** Namely, Techno is a lot more emotional than one would first guess and holds poor grasp on some of his feelings. His anger/wrath is the main issue, with his lack of proper expression of it pretty much being the driving force at to why the Butcher Army came for his head following L'Manberg's second destruction at the end of Season 1.
* Foil:
** To Tommy. Where Tommy seems to be compensating for a lack of confidence with bluster, Techno is secure in his status as the best [=PVPer=] on the server. When L'Manburg is retaken, Tommy takes the side of the country when Techno razes it to the ground. Most of the internal conflict in Pogtopia came from Technoblade and Tommy antagonizing each other, with Tommy believing in hope for a better future while Techno is jaded and only sees the potential for tyranny.
** To Wilbur. While Wilbur prefers to use his skills as a wordsmith to make a point, Techno believes that violence is the only universal language that people are willing to listen to. However, Techno is willing to make a speech or two if the situation calls for it.
** To Dream. Dream prefers to manipulate people from behind the scenes, while Techno brute-forces his way through most situations. While both are trying to topple governments, Techno does it because he genuinely believes that governments are inherently evil, while Dream does it because he believes he should be the one in charge. At the same time, Techno sees his friendships and attachments as a strength and has UndyingLoyalty to those that he cares for, but Dream views them as a weakness and actively tries to cut them off.
** To Quackity. Both have their own beliefs on what is the best for the people and a very strong determination to help, but their ideology and characteristics are opposites of each other. Quackity is not a strong combatant, but he is very good at controlling conversations and convincing people to support his point of view, while Techno prefers to use action to showcase his own beliefs, valuing acts over words. Quackity believes that ensuring absolute order and security is the only way of having a civilized world, however corrupt it may be; whereas Techno believes that anarchy will lead to a more peaceful world, as he sees governments to be inherently evil, and freedom and equality of the people impossible to achieve under an absolute order.
** To Punz. Both have very anarchistic mindsets and often times capable of switching allegiances on a whim. However, while Techno has UndyingLoyalty to his friends, Punz only cares about money and can easily be bribed to betray his friends for profit. Punz wishes to keep the server in a permanent state of chaos, whereas Techno wishes to use anarchy to create a more peaceful world.
** To Eret. Both of them played a huge role in a highly traumatic event to the L'Manburgians (the Final Control Room for Eret, and Tubbo's execution for Techno), but while Eret has tried to make up for her actions since Season 1, it took up to Season 4 for Techno to finally own up to his involvement in his matter. On top of this, Techno is devoted to anarchy and holds a heavy anti-government sentiment, and is feared by many for a variety of reasons; Eret is the King of the Greater Dream SMP and is fairly benevolent, both as a ruler and as a person outside the royal court. Interestingly, as of Season 4, both would work together and form an amicable bond on their quest to save Michael.
* FullBoarAction: He is a PigMan who is renowned for his PVP skills in the Minecraft community, and he's renowned for being TheDreaded for good reason.
* GoldFever: Spends at least half an hour in the Nether seeking out gold to make golden apples, leading to quite a lot of jokes that he's a Piglin (which makes sense, considering his skin).
%% * HamAndDeadpanDuo: Irony Funnily enough, Wilbur is the ham to Techno's deadpan.
* HearingVoices: These "voices" being his stream chat, which he said to be the source of his BloodKnight tendencies.
* HiddenHeartOfGold: Technoblade may be an aloof, violent, and proud warrior who sticks by his ideals no matter what, but he's not heartless. While he tends to not be overt about it, Techno does have a few people he cares about. He holds his oldest friend Philza in high regard and helped him escape house arrest in L'Manberg, he urged Ghostbur to run away and stay safe when the Butcher Army was on their way to Technoblade's home, and while him and Tommy disagree a lot and aren't on best terms, he let Tommy live with him after the latter ran away from exile. Later on, Techno lied to Dream about Tommy's whereabouts to keep the boy safe, even though Dream had recently helped Technoblade escape his execution and having nothing to gain for doing so. And come the Doomsday War, he seems to have at least a little VillainCred for Dream himself (though it helps that they both wanted L'Manburg gone at the time). Ranboo has been added to the list, as Techno admitted that he cares about Ranboo's well-being and helped save Ranboo from Bad's plot to trap him in the Egg Chamber, even lending him his prized trident. His death at Sam's hands hits Techno hard.
* HoldingTheFloor: One of his go-to responses during high-risk, life threatening scenarios is rambling to buy time, either for himself so he can come up with a way out or for others so they can intervene.
** One example of this is Tubbo's execution, where he awkwardly refused Schlatt's kill order until he no longer could.
--->Schlatt: Please, if you would be so kind.\
Techno: What are you asking, Schlatt? You want me to get him some breakfast?
** When Dream comes to Technoblade's home looking for Tommy, he constantly interrupts him using his stream donations.
* Hypocrite:
** Techno is an anarchist because he wants to prevent tyranny, and believes that all forms of government are inherently tyrannical. Techno has also repeatedly teamed up with Dream, who can crown and dethrone kings on a whim, has waged war against and destroyed every faction that tries to challenge his power, isolated and abused Tommy for not listening to him, and had a vault full of everyone's most valued possessions to use as blackmail. Granted, he wasn't aware of Exile or the Disc War Finale, but given Dream's nature, Techno should be more wary of working with him, even if Dream isn't technically working in a government, and probably should have asked someone (like Tommy during their team-up) about Dream when he had the chance to.
** When Tommy left him during the Green Festival, and later during Doomsday, Techno was absolutely furious, claiming that Tommy was using him from the start, and had been lying to him about what he was actually planning. This is extremely rich considering that, a day before the Green Festival, Techno outright admitted that he was only keeping Tommy around to further his own ends, and had been lying to Tommy for weeks about his true intentions of destroying L'Manburg (which Tommy had said from the start that he didn't want to do).
** When Tommy tries to claim that L'Manburg isn't about government, but people, Techno replies, "I'M a person!", and goes on to accuse Tommy of only every seeing him as "The Blade" and Dehumanization treating him like a weapon. Not only is this blatantly untrue (Tommy is TheNicknamer; he's called Techno "The Blade" for months while treating him as a friend, and Techno had never complained about being referred to as "The Blade" before that), and another bit of blatant hypocrisy in that he admitted two days before to only keeping Tommy around to use him, it's also a bit rich coming from the guy who stopped treating Tubbo as anything except "government" as soon as he was involuntarily inaugurated on November 16th. This is further hammered in by Tommy's reply to the aforementioned claim, that the L'Manburgians are people too.
** In spite of being dehumanized (or at least the perception of it) being one of things that infuriate him, Techno has engaged in a fair bit of dehumanization himself, most prominently seeing Tubbo as "government" the moment he got inaugurated as President of New L'Manburg, especially when Tubbo didn't want the job in the first place.
* IWillFightNoMoreForever: Attempted this when he retired after his first attack on L'Manburg, but after they tried to execute him, he decided to come out of retirement, reduce L'Manburg to a crater that goes down to bedrock, then re-enter retirement once more.
* Irony:
** He hates orphans because he was made an orphan by them. Also serves as a FreudianExcuse.
** Similarly, despite being an anarchist, his default Minecraft skin has him wearing his traditional skin, a pigman in regal garbs.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Likely the best way to describe him. On one hand, Techno has caused several people massive amounts of trauma, including and not limited to murdering them and destroying their homes by nuking them to the ground (and then some). On the other hand, Techno is fiercely devoted to his friends and his pets and, as seen with the Butcher Army's attack, is more than willing to die for them.It's slightly undercut with the Totem of Undying, but the intent is there.
* KarmaHoudini: For the most part, Techno has a tendency to be, at least on paper, the 'victor' when it comes to the CycleOfRevenge, in this case being due to his fighting prowess and tendency for violent destruction when wronged. With a bit of third party interference for good measure.
** After executing Tubbo upon Schlatt's demands, Techno is immediately confronted by an enraged and vengeful Tommy, who tries and fails to kill Techno in revenge. As a result of this, following the Manburg Massacre, the two fought a duel... where Techno won. Trope when everyone else in Pogtopia starts distrusting him immediately after Dream announced there was a traitor in the alliance-faction, and constantly reminded Techno of his actions.
** After helping to blow up L'Manburg during the Season 1 finale and then fleeing to the northern tundra to "retire", Techno is eventually confronted by the Butcher Army, all of whom (outside of Ranboo) held grievances against Techno for multiple reasonsAll three for blowing up L'Manburg, threatening to return and blow it up again if they tried to rebuild the country and reform a new government, and being an overall threat to their country and its intended-to-be peaceful existence; additionally, Tubbo for executing him, and Quackity for giving him PTSD during Minecraft Mondays, with the bonus of proving New L'Manberg was powerful enough to not mess with (so as to try and guarantee the safety of its citizens and his loved ones), and decide to execute him. Initially, the Butcher Army manages to capture him and even get his OP armor. Unfortunately for the Butcher Army, not only does Techno survive his execution (combination of Dream's interference and Techno's totem) he escapes and proceeds to help blow up their country to kingdom come in the Doomsday War. As Techno manages to go into retirement again, satisfied that there was (for now) no more government on the server, the splintered remains of L'Manburg had all lost their homes and mostly became lost and disillusioned as a result.
** Pretty much whenever Techno is in conflict with Quackity, expect Techno to usually be the victor. Determinator Not that it stopped Quackity from trying to even the score nonetheless. Quackity was initially scared of Techno due to trauma from their Minecraft Monday days (which Techno was utterly oblivious about). Thus, Quackity helped hunt Techno down and even became the reason why they were able to catch Techno by threatening to kill Carl. Unfortunately, Techno was able to escape. During his escape, Techno canonically killed Quackity, giving him even more trauma (though in fairness, said fight was in self-defense after Quackity tried to hunt him down again). Months later, Quackity gained his vengeance by locking Techno in Pandora's Vault with Sam's help. Quackity returned to visit Techno (and Dream) in the prison and almost managed to kill Techno the very same way Techno himself did it. Unfortunately for Quackity, Phil managed to teleport Techno out of prison moments before Quackity could kill him. Although Techno was left shaken and disturbed by the endeavor, he still technically has his canon life intact, and considering Quackity's paranoid breakdown after Techno's escape, Techno arguably came out on top in regard to this confrontation as well.
* TheKingslayer: He's killed 4 people in the SMP that had positions in power; he accidentally killed Schlatt when the latter got caught in the crossfire of Tubbo's execution, he killed Tubbo again after the boy was named president by Wilbur, and he assassinated George after Dream made him king. The latter two are not considered canon deaths, though, and it should be noted that in the latter incident, Techno was reportedly hired by Eret as an assassin.
* LaughingMad: Upon seeing exactly how much firepower his firework launcher packs during the Manburg Festival, Techno can be heard laughing as he shoots at the attendees of the Festival.
* LuredIntoATrap: His prison visit goes south once Sam calls him Dream's biggest ally in escaping. Sam then traps Techno inside the prison, with Dream having a VillainousBreakdown.

* MultitaskedConversation: During Tubbo's execution, after his unsuccessful attempts at delaying it, he's seen to check the audience frequently and make a remark on how many people there were. Considering Tubbo got revealed as a traitor for a group he's also secretly a part of, his comment on being peer-pressured is also meant to convey how he has to kill him, so as to not blow his own cover.
* NighInvulnerability: Considering that Techno has some of the strongest equipment in the game, he usually makes a show of his power by letting other people attack him, and laughing when it inflicts no damage.
** One example of this was when a Ravager repeatedly attacked Techno while an Illager raid happened nearby. His response was to stand still and read his donations until the Ravager died by the damage inflicted by the Thorns enchantment.
** Another example happened when Fundy trapped Techno in a dunk tank at the Manburg Festival. Unfortunately for Fundy, Techno had a Respiration III helmet, which negated most damage taken from drowning and increased breathing time underwater. Techno then proceeded to promote his channel while in the process of drowning, and even briefly stepped away from his computer in real life to drink a glass of water. Needless to say, Fundy was not happy.
** In the aftermath of the Festival, Tommy attacked an AFK Techno to avenge Tubbo, as Techno had executed Tubbo during the event. Techno's Thorns-enchanted Netherite armor meant that Tommy not only kills himself in the process, but also does so little damage that when Techno returned he's unaware that Tommy even tried to kill him until he saw the loot that Tommy dropped upon his death.
** He has now taken this even further by finding two Totems of Undying, and through them, has survived his own execution at the hands of the Butcher Army.
** During the Doomsday War, Technoblade goes below 5 hearts for the first time in a PVP situation since joining the server. It says a lot when it required him to face Sapnap and several Withers shooting at him to even drop to that level of health. Naturally, he was CrazyPrepared enough to bring enchanted golden apples to the war and is quickly back to full health.
* NoSell: Through a mix of terrible rhetoric and the fact that he's already HearingVoices to begin with, Techno is completely unconvinced and unaffected by the Crimson or its agents, to the point where he attempts to beat Bad to death out of sheer irritation.
* NoSocialSkills: Trope. Though Techno has friends and would do anything to protect those he cares for, he is notably a bit socially awkward, and when Quackity tries to ask him out on a date as a last-ditch effort to stop him from attacking, he legs it.
* NoSympathy: Techno shows very little care for those not in his immediate circle of friends. Granted, some are either his enemies that have tried to kill him, go against him or, in Dream's case, someone who he merely sees as just an occasional 'business partner'.
** His first reaction to hearing that Tommy had died was "Yooo, that's a pog", and he continued to express his hatred for Tommy until the subject was changed. Though it's indicated that Techno possibly had some change of heart in the following three months or so, according to what he wrote about Tommy in his will, it likely won't be until Techno canonically meets up with Tommy again will we have a fuller understanding of Techno's feelings about the young man.
** When Dream told him he was being tortured every day by Quackity, Techno tells him that "that sounds like a you problem", and doesn't seem to understand why Dream is so angry after he wishes for a bell instead of an exit from the prison.
** When he is confronted by Quackity in Pandora's Vault, Quackity asks him if he was just supposed to "walk away and just forget about" his traumatic canon death via Techno's pickaxe, to which Techno replies, "Yeah, kinda." It's understandable in that the aforementioned canon death by pickaxe occurred following the Butcher Army's attack on Techno, but it's still incredibly callous.
* NotSoStoic:
** While Techno is usually very deadpan, he shows a very visceral reaction when he discovers that zombies actively seek out unhatched turtle eggs just to stomp on them.
--->Techno: NO! What– heh, heh, heh?\
Phil: O–\
Techno: The zombie just crushed two eggs!\
Phil: Yeah, they do that.\
Techno: (looks up at Phil, who is building a dirt platform above the ground, sounding distressed) For fun?!
** When Quackity reveals his plan to kill Technoblade with a pickaxe the same way Techno killed him, he is visibly shocked and attempts to run away.
--->Techno: (sees Quackity's pickaxe) Oh wait... OH WAIT... WHA-WHAT? HOLD ON! (runs away from Quackity) HOLD ON! NONONO– (gets teleported out by Philza)
* OddFriendship: Techno is quite amicable to Skeppy, who is much more energetic than him and enjoys trolling others, while Techno is more reclusive.
* OnceDoneNeverForgotten: Throughout the last chunk of Season 1, people kept bringing up the fact that Techno was the one to perform Tubbo's execution, which Techno was sick of, because according to him, "circumstances forced [his] hand". However, unlike Eret, Techno has never tried to make up for what he did in a highly traumatic event. Though as of Season 4, he has apologized to Tubbo properly for his role in the matter.
* OneManArmy: He is proficient in combat to the point of being able to equally match three people in a fight with a pickaxe. Quackity even identifies him as "the next best thing" to an army during the Red Banquet, which he can personally attest to due to being on Techno's wrong side on multiple occasions.
-->Quackity: (on the Butcher Army) That guy's stronger than– probably ten people from the server combined; he doesn't need people [Karl's stream chat] babying him. (in a mocking tone, imitating Karl's stream chat) "Waah, Techno's gonna be sad when you guys go against him!" (switching back to his normal voice) [[Foreshadowing [If] Techno finds out, he's probably gonna slaughter us]].
* OnlyFriend: Following his banishment from New L'Manburg, Technoblade considers Philza his only true remaining friend. Though as time passes, with the Syndicate and Revengers formed, Techno has others who considers to be close pals with as well.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: While Techno will take any chance to kill people in cold blood, he clearly did not want to shoot Tubbo when Schlatt ordered him to. He repeatedly tried to stall by taking Schlatt's Deadly Euphemisms literally, until he finally has no other choice but to take the shot.
-->Techno: Tubbo... Tubbo, I'm sorry. I'll try to make this as painless and colorful as possible...
* PeerPressuredBully: Techno doesn't do well under peer pressure, and because of this, he ends up giving in to Schlatt's demands to execute Tubbo at the Manburg Festival in front of a large crowd.
-->Techno: Tubbo, I'm sorry... (turns around) Tubbo, I'm being subjected to mild amounts of peer pressure, Tubbo– (shoots Tubbo)
* PetTheDog: After surviving his own execution and escaping from L'Manburg, he refuses to throw away the Blue that Ghostbur gave him while organizing his inventory.
* PigMan: Techno's skin is based off the anthropomorphic pigmen of the pre-1.16 Nether.
* PleaseSubscribeToOurChannel: Techno often promotes his channel at the most inopportune moments, and even has a "Sellout Timer" set to go off every thirty minutes so he can remember to promote. This is taken to the absolute extreme with one of the Withers he lets loose on the ruins of L'Manburg being named Subscribe to Technoblade.
* PoorCommunicationKills: One of the main reasons why Techno's relationships in Season 1 and 2, especially with Tommy, tend to break apart horribly is a failure to resolve conflict of interests. In Techno's case, likely due to social awkwardness and preference for action, he tends to just skirt around the issue and hope that people will eventually see where he's coming from, or believe that people already share his beliefs. This ends up being a habit that causes him to lose allies quickly, since what they wanted was too different, first with L'Manburg as a whole since they wanted to rebuild a stable political structure while Techno wanted an anarchist society, then with Tommy over whether or not to destroy L'Manburg (Tommy wanted to keep his old nation safe and realized he crossed his own moral beliefs while siding with Techno, which led to his betrayal, while Techno wanted that city-state gone and wiped off the server because it was "government" and later because they tried to kill him). Plus, the Butcher Army going after him is partially caused by the fact he claimed he would blow up the country again if they tried to rebuild the country and reform a government, but never told them he'd retired in the meantime and was trying to give up on his violent ways, which led to New L'Manburg seeing him as a perpetually looming threat and putting him on the Hit List.
* RedBaron: As a carryover from WebVideo/SMPEarth, he is nicknamed "The Blade", as Tommy calls him during the Battle of the Lake. He later grows a distaste for the nickname, believing others only see him as a living weapon, as opposed to being an actual person.
* RivalsTeamUp:
** Techno and Dream do this during the Battle of the Lake, with both having supported Pogtopia's efforts for quite some time.
** In the wake of the Green Festival, Dream and Techno realize that they share a common interest -- L'Manburg's complete and utter annihilation -- and decide to join forces in what becomes the Doomsday War. With their combined powers, they turn the nation into a crater.
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge:
** After the Butcher Army captured him, tried (and failed) to execute him, and put Philza, his last true friend at the time, under house arrest, he vows to completely destroy L'Manburg, which led to his VillainTeamUp with Dream when he also expresses a desire to destroy it.
** During his jailbreak of Dream, he attempts a much shorter one in comparison when, after trying and failing to coerce Sam into giving back Ranboo after using him as a hostage to get Dream back into prison, Sam kills Ranboo, leading to Techno immediately pulling out his splash potions, splashing himself, and making a sprint towards Sam and Bad to kill them. He only retreats after Dream yells at him to get going and Niki starts spawning Withers as distractions.
* TheScapegoat: Despite Wilbur being the one who blew up L'Manberg and Dream being the one who orchestrated the whole debacle, he's the one with a WantedPoster in New L'Manberg. This stems from Wilbur being dead and wandering the SMP as a ghost, and Dream being a highly powerful and influential political leader, which leaves Techno (someone who's alive and unaffiliated with any political faction) being the easiest to put a bounty on. It's Trope, though, since Techno was going to do what he did regardless of whether or not Wilbur beat him to the punch.
* ShamelessSelfPromoter: To say that Techno will take any opportunity to promote his channel would be an understatement. Even at the most serious moments of the roleplay, Techno can and will break both the viewer's immersion and the fourth wall just to ask people to subscribe to his channel. He has, on more than one occasion, massacred people with something named "Subscribe to Technoblade" so that it shows up in the death messages in the chat.
* ShootYourMate: After exposing Tubbo as a traitor to Manburg and sealing him in blocks, Jschlatt orders Technoblade to execute him. Under pressure by the large crowd surrounding him, Techno takes the shot... and accidentally blows up both Jschlatt and Quackity with him.
* SleepDeprivation: Techno sets up a potato farm in Pogtopia, and farms potatoes for... a long time.
-->Wilbur: O...kay... How long have you been on this– How long have you spent here?\
Techno: Uh... I haven't logged off.\
Wilbur: Wait, you... you haven't logged off the server from last night?\
Techno: Yeah, I've just– I've just been here.\
Wilbur: That's like, that's like... 14 hours, Technoblade... (laughs)\
Techno: Revolution waits for no man.
* TheSocialDarwinist: Prior to the Manberg Festival, Technoblade outlines his "ideal world" in order to persuade [=BadBoyHalo=] to the side of anarchy.
-->Technoblade: How can I sell you on massive anarchy from which the nation never recovers and just dissolves? [...] The world regresses into a dog-eat-dog world where only the strong survive and the weak live huddled in fear.
* SuperNotDrowningSkills: After Fundy locked Techno in a dunk tank by (with the intent to drown him) as the latter was practicing trident leaps combined with "MLG water saves", Techno demonstrates the power of a Respiration III helmet by staying in the tank for several minutes and overdramatically pretending to be in any real danger from breath loss while many of the other players are awkwardly watching.
* TheyCallHimSword: "The Blade", though by all means, it's also the latter half of his name. By the Doomsday War, however, Techno has since grown to dislike it since he felt that's all people thought of him (a warrior).
%% * ThoseTwoGuys: With Philza.
* TraumaButton: While whether Techno himself has any of these is unknown, to Quackity, Techno was the traumatic trigger, and initially, even seeing him would cause him to panic, because of their past in Minecraft Monday. Techno himself, upon learning of this, is mostly bemused and utterly unconcerned about this, and has no issue with terrorizing Quackity again.
* TrojanPrisoner: Although Sam traps Techno in Pandora's Vault with Dream, Techno is eerily calm about it, and implies to Dream before the stream ends that he's in a lot more control of the situation than Sam would like to believe. This is slightly trope when it turns out Phil was supposed to break him out in 3 days, but Phil misheard it as 3 months and let him rot for about 3 months' time. Techno is quite mad at Phil because of this.
* Tsundere: Shows shades of this (in a platonic way) after Ranboo gives him a replica of the Axe of Peace.
-->Technoblade: Well, I suppose, this is, this is, I guess this gift is sorta okay, I– I suppose I might find a use for this.\
Ranboo: Maybe, maybe.\
Technoblade: Ahhh, my heart isn't warmed at all, okay? Just because you gave me this axe, doesn't mean we're friends now, don't get any ideas. But, you know, I guess– I guess I appreciate it a little bit.
* UndyingLoyalty: He would do anything to protect those he cares for, most notably Philza and Ranboo. This is Trope by Quackity, who IHaveYourWife held his prized horse Carl hostage to force Techno to go along with the Butcher Army for execution.
* WantedPoster: New L'Manberg has several of these with him on it due to him sticking to his ideals of anarchy and turning on New L'Manberg. Techno even takes advantage of this by standing in front of one and pretending to be part of the poster while waiting for Philza. Everyone sees through his disguise, but are far too intimidated or amused to challenge him, and instead leave him be.
* WarriorPoet: For a BloodKnight like Technoblade, he is surprisingly erudite and philosophical. He often quotes Creator/SunTzu and makes references to historical and mythological events.
* WastefulWishing: After he and Dream accidentally summon [=DreamXD=] while trapped in prison, [=DreamXD=] agrees to grant them one wish. While Dream is still parsing the fact that he can finally get out of prison by wishing for an exit, Techno uses up the wish by wishing for a bell.
* WhamLine:
** His join message is this for everyone outside of Pogtopia's Tommy and Wilbur.
** His declaration of anarchy post-Festival reveals his true desire regarding what will happen to Manburg.
--->Technoblade: I want to leave a smoking crater from which not only will Manburg never recover, but from which no new country can rise in its place. History will forget that a country ever existed in this area.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: Ultimately, he genuinely believes anarchy and having no governments will bring peace to everyone on the server. The problem is his tendency to express such beliefs using extreme violence... like helping blow up a country. Twice. And on the latter occasion, to bedrock so that its citizens couldn't even rebuild it anymore, with the additional side effect of making those citizens homeless and being forced to scatter and rebuild elsewhere.
* WildCard:
** Techno joined Pogtopia under the belief that they'd be outnumbered throughout the conflict. However, as Jschlatt lost more and more support, Techno has considered joining the dictator for no reason other than to keep things interesting. Wilbur and Tommy are well aware of this, and only seem to keep him around because him openly being on Jschlatt's side is much worse than just the possibility of him defecting to Jschlatt's side.
** Wilbur and Tommy aren't the only ones worried about it, though, as Jschlatt attempting to force Techno to execute Tubbo results in not only his own death (twice), but the deaths of nearly everyone attending the Festival other than Wilbur and Tommy when Techno decides to start firing rockets at the crowd.
* YouAreWhatYouHate: Supposedly, Techno's FreudianExcuse for killing orphans is that his parents were murdered by orphans at an orphanage they visited, Irony which would, by technicality, make Irony him Irony an orphan.

!!Other

Technoblade's prized horse, and his fourth strongestwith thirteen hearts and above average speed.
----
* BlingOfWar: Carl wears diamond horse armor.
* IHaveYourWife: When Technoblade is gaining the upper hand in the [=1v4=] battle against the Butcher Army, Quackity mounts Carl, effectively holding him ransom as Techno can't attack Quackity without also harming his horse. Techno has no choice but to give in to their demands in order to save his precious steed.
* OneSteveLimit: Carl the horse is not to be confused with Karl Jacobs the player.

Technoblade's strongest horse, with fourteen hearts and near-top speed.
----
* ChuckCunninghamSyndrome: He (and the rest of Techno's horses, save for Carl) has been hidden in the Pogtopia horse farm since before the festival.
* TooAwesomeToUse: Techno rarely uses Andrew due to fear of losing his near-perfect stats should he accidentally get killed.

A zombie piglin and a skeleton wearing jack-o'-lanterns on their heads, captured and brought home by Technoblade on Halloween.
----
* BattleButler: Technoblade jokingly refers to Hubert as his butler.
* EasterEgg: Created by one. Minecraft spawns a small percentage of hostile mobs with pumpkins on their heads on Halloween, and a small percentage of those spawn with jack-o'-lanterns instead. Techno described the process as "like shiny hunting in Minecraft".

The sole survivor of Technoblade's original cow pit, after Fundy massacres them following Techno's fallout with New L'Manburg.
----
* OrphansOrdeal: Bob witnessed his entire extended family get slaughtered, and was then left in the very same pit alone for days.
* SoleSurvivor: Of Techno's original cow pit.

An Enderman that teleported into Techno's house and was subsequently trapped in a boat. Techno considered Edward his roommate though he didn't "pay the rent", as Techno put it.\
Edward was unfortunately killed by Techno's wolves during Techno's attempt to remove his fireplace, which was hurting the wolves. He is randomly reincarnated during Techno's return from prison and proves that he's the reincarnation by going in his old boat.
----
* AmbiguousSituation: Is the Enderman who teleported in Techno's house after his return from prison truly Edward's reincarnation? Or is he just a random Enderman that happened to get trapped in the boat?
* MonsterRoommate: Being an Enderman who lives with Techno.
%%* OddCouple: With Em the dog, Edward's boat companion.
* Reincarnation: Possibly. Techno claims that he reincarnated as another Enderman. He believes this after the Enderman gets trapped in Edward's old boat.
* ReincarnationIdentifyingTrait: Him getting trapped in Edward's old boat, according to Techno.

A massive (read: hundreds) battalion of ferocious wolves that Techno bred to fight for his side. The vast majority of them lost their lives in the Doomsday War, including the original pack leader and oldest soldier, Max. They are all descended from the same two dogs -- Max, the aforementioned first member of the army, and Connor's pet dog, Toby Cumbeast.\
\
Their names are chosen by donators. The named wolves of the veteran generation include MaxKilled by Sapnap during the Doomsday War, MarcelleryKilled by Jack Manifold during the Doomsday War, JordanKilled by Punz during the Doomsday War, FossilnetBlown up by a wither during the Doomsday War and EmTechno's house dog.\
The second and third generations (nicknamed the "millionaire" generations) saw an exponential increase in named individuals (open this noteMackenna (walked into Techno's fireplace), Skypowergirl (left behind after refusing to go through a portal), Infinity Cubed, Mr. [=StrangeTiger=] (blown up by a Creeper), Liz, Dream has a house (blown up by a Creeper), Person, Ari (fell to her death from a tree), Finn (fell trying to teleport to a flying Techno), Rachie, Ronbubble, Gordon, Youngling, Jon, Cami, Nico, Xepyy, jabber, Shield_of_Hope (replaced Edward in the boat with Em), Chloe, Lucius, Eyebite (fell trying to teleport to a flying Techno) and Technochan. and this noteAndie, Poggings, Noah, Strange_Tiger_2, [=GrumpyCraig=], Expert, Dorian, Dice, Evion, Confused, Jazzical, Mandy, Kodokushi, Troy and Banana to read their names).
----
* ButtMonkey: Techno really doesn't care much about their survival.
-->Ranboo: A– a lotta people are gonna be banned from your chat, and that's not gonna be fun.Techno had previously jokingly stated that he would ban any donator whose dog died.\
Technoblade: It's just purgin' the weak.
* CannonFodder: Despite being in the hundreds, the only thing the Hound Army tends to be good at is essentially being a brief buffer than prevents the others players from rushing in at Techno all once.
* ADeathInTheLimelight: Apollo was just another unnamed wolf for the majority of the Hound Army's existence... then he follows Techno into the Syndicate HQ during a vital meeting, and Techno inducts him into the group, names him Apollo, and brings him along to break Dream out of prison... and then Apollo gets killed by Sam during the jailbreak.
* FriendlyFire: Most of the dogs Techno brings with him to the Red Banquet are killed by the splash damage from the fireworks shot from his crossbow rather than the Eggpire or the magma blocks generated by the Egg, to the point that Techno reported in the in-game chat that only two dogs survived the incident at the end of Puffy's stream, then quickly amends that only one dog did.
* MauveShirt: The ones named for donators. While they have names, they tend to get slaughtered whenever Techno takes them into a dangerous situation.
* Mooks: Ultimately, intimidation via their vast numbers is all they truly have going for them. When faced with decently geared players, they tend to fall off in droves due to their inability to take much hits or do much damage in turn. It says a lot when during Doomsday out of the hundreds of dogs used in that battle, they only managed to kill one person -- a defenseless and unarmored Tubbo, who was about to die by Techno regardless, and it was a non-canonical death at that.
* NoNameGiven: Many of the dogs are unnamed. Most notably, the pack of wolves that Techno takes to crash the Red Banquet with him are all unnamed.
* NonActionGuy: Em has never been called into action, as she's been sitting in the boat in Techno's cabin since before she was named.
* PapaWolf: Max is quick to retaliate when Clarencio the llama attacks his newborn puppy, killing the former instantly.
* RedShirt: The unnamed wolves of the pack. Notably, Techno brings a large number of wolves with him to help crash the Red Banquet, and when all but one of the wolves die in battle, Techno reassures his fans that none of the deceased wolves were named.
* ReligiousAndMythologicalThemeNaming: Ironically being an OddNameOut among the Hound Army -- many of whom are named after Techno's donators, Apollo the dog was named in the same scheme as the rest of the Syndicate, after the Greek god of archery, music, prophecy, and many other aspects.
* RightHandAttackDog: As the leader, Max was this for Technoblade.
* SavageWolves: Especially during the Doomsday War, where they serve as Mooks for Techno throughout his complete and utter annihilation of L'Manburg.
* TheSmartGuy: Shield_of_Hope is praised as such by Techno for getting in Edward's spot in the boat, rendering him unable to come on the Woodland Mansion mission with Techno and the other named dogs.
-->Technoblade: Well, Shield_of_Hope's dog is gonna be fine, it just got in the boat. What a tactical mastermind, alright.
* TheUnfavourite: Technochan seems to be particularly disliked by Techno, most likely for the name.
-->Technoblade: Technochan, why did you have to survive, of all of 'em?
* WeHaveReserves: As long as Techno has a few spare dogs remaining, new recruits to the Hound Army can pretty much always be raised. A fact that pretty much cemented their roles as being expendable minions and why Techno is far less concerned with putting their lives at risk compared to his other pets.

Technoblade and, as of their formation, the Syndicate's go-to weapon of mass destruction that are used in major operations as a way of causing havoc, confusion and destruction against the enemy.
----
* TheDreaded: Most people on the server fear them for good reason: they're airborne, durable, and incredibly powerful creatures with the ability to wreck entire buildings in seconds. Now imagine a horde pretty much invading your country -- it's a grand scale massacre.
* EliteMook: A major step up in comparison to the Hound Army. The Syndicate uses these beings as such, and each time, their enemies have to contend with them if they want to fight Techno or achieve their goals due to how strong and destructive they are. It's telling that when the first wave of Withers is spawned in during Doomsday, the battle for the L'Manberg defenders goes from 'manageable' to 'gradually unwinnable'.
* FinalBoss: Of the Manberg vs. Pogtopia War and Doomsday, alongside Techno himself.
* TheresNoKillLikeOverkill: One or two Withers are enough to deal major property damage to L'Manberg. Fifteen being spawned in, in conjunction with Dream's TNT cannons going off? There was practically nothing anyone could do to save L'Manberg.
* WeaponOfMassDestruction: Given that they're a boss mob, it's pretty much their intended purpose -- a role they filled to a T, given their use in destroying L'Manberg.
* WildCard: Of course, this being a boss that attacks indiscriminately, sometimes Techno finds himself targeted by one (though due to Techno's top-level armor, it's usually treated as an annoyance rather than a real threat).
* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: Techno has a tendency to do this to any Withers that attack him for too long or have done their job. Justified, since Withers can't be tamed and Techno can generally find more use for the nether stars they drop upon death.

Technoblade's "emotional support polar bear".
----
* MemeticBadass: InUniverse. During his imprisonment, Techno claimed that Steve would break him and Dream out.
%% * MoralityPet: Techno himself says Steve is the only one of his polar bears he cares about.
* PetMonstrosity: Steve is a polar bear that Techno adopted as "emotional support", which obviously wouldn't go quite as well in the real world. In VideoGame/Minecraft, though, polar bears only attack if they are attacked or if they have cubs and are being approached, making it relatively feasible to have a pet polar bear or other neutral mob.

->"BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD"
Techno's stream chat manifests as voices in his head. He largely ignores them... unless they demand blood.
----
* AndThereWasMuchRejoicing: Whenever someone's death message pops up in the in-game chat, it's not uncommon for Techno's chat to spam "🦀🦀[X]🦀🦀 is gone", as a reference to the "Crab Rave" meme.
* AudienceParticipation: As with other canon chats, they are the canonical version of the audience.
* BigBrotherInstinct: They are very protective of those Techno deems as allies, screaming in unison for him to protect the person in question and kill those that intend them harm if they are being threatened. This has most notably applied to Phil, Ranboo, and Tommy (the latter during their team up).
* BigNo: Like Techno, many of the chat shouted this in response to Ranboo's death.
* BigYes: A lot of the chat can be seen cheering in response to Techno surviving his own PublicExecution.
* BloodKnight: "Blood for the Blood God" is one of their catchphrases for a reason, though it's usually limited to when Techno encounters an enemy force. About half of the chat can also be seen shouting "JFK" while Techno is contemplating whether or not to execute Tubbo during the Manburg Festival.
* CrowdChant: "BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD" and "TECHNOBLADE NEVER DIES".
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: They're not really evil as they are very, very bloodthristy, but they are very protective and care for Techno's allies and fellow faction members (especially Philza and Ranboo). When Ranboo is killed by Sam during the jailbreak, many of them cry out in horror and call for blood.
* HearingVoices: They manifest as voices in Techno's head, but their canonical nature and/or reason for existence are currently unknown.
* MaybeMagicMaybeMundane: Although Techno's chat manifests as voices in his head, their canonical nature is never confirmed. Popular fanon speculates that they may have some sort of supernatural origin, usually in relation to the Blood God, but there are also fans who see them as a surprisingly-realistic interpretation of auditory hallucinations or intrusive thoughts.
* NoBadassToHisValet: With Chat being the Valet, as they have a tendency of calling Techno out when he's being unobservant and many of them called him "lame" in response to him being captured by the Butcher Army.
* PowderKegCrowd: It takes very little for them to go into a screaming frenzy, demanding that Techno take out the target of their rage.
* StudioAudience: A variant. While the voices aren't physically present and communicates through text instead of through audio, they're treated as if they're speaking out loud. Other than that, they fulfill pretty much the same role.
