!!Humans
[[folder:In General]]
Four people and their host who try to survive in a cabin deep in the Tatras Mountains.
----

* DarkAndTroubledPast: While talking to all of them reveals some sort of tragedy in their past, all of them except the player are heavily implied to be refugees of the [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holodomor Holodomor]].
* OddNameOut: Gregor and Anatoly are indeed names that you would find in the game's general setting[[note]]The game takes place in the Tatras Mountains just south of the Polish city of Zakopane, but it's made clear that Gregor, Anatoly, Karin, and Mariah all come from Ukraine[[/note]]. Karin could be short for the Slavic name "Karina", but it's not made clear that's the intention. Mariah, however, is very clearly an English name.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Player Character / [[spoiler:Baba Yaga]]]]
----
* AmbiguousGender: The protagonist's gender is never outright revealed. They are implied to be a woman, since both Agata and the cupboard spirit refer to them as "Ma'am" and "she". The character the protagonist is based on is also female.
* AmbiguouslyHuman: Their arms are green and wrinkled, and they are heavily implied to be an immortal witch. The ending where Mariah kills them refers to them as an "abnormal being," but this is not elaborated on further.
* AndNowForSomeoneCompletelyDifferent: In ''Dread Weight'' if you’ve selected that you’ve played ''Cooking Companions'' in the beginning you occasionally switch to their POV despite them not being the protagonist this time around.
* BigBad: They are revealed to be EvilAllAlong after completing the game, as according to the extended opening, they lured the companions into the cabin to cannibalize them. The protagonist can also be held responsible for just about every bad thing that happens in the game's story, from Potato being a serial killer in his past life in order to appease them, being the one who killed him and the other Chompettes as well as countless other victims in the past, and even creating the storm that trapped the companions in the cabin in the first place.
** They are also set up to be the main antagonist of ''Dread Weight'' as Baba Yaga.
* CardCarryingVillain: She isn't proud of it, but knows very well how monstrous she is and never objects when others [[YouMonster call her out]].
* TheDreaded: According to Kurt in ''Dread Weight'', many countries refuse to reveal her existence to the world for fear of being hunted down in retaliation.
* EvenEvilHasStandards:
** They let the residents leave the cabin and either kill them before they can brave the flood waters, or wait for them to fail first before fetching the body. They're shaken when Karin cuts up a drugged Gregor and leaves him to pass out from shock and blood loss on the couch, especially when she says she was going to keep him alive for at least a week. They also pretty much sit back and allow Mariah to kill them when she answers their question correctly, despite being more than capable of overpowering her.
** It is implied that they don't exactly see eye-to-eye with Potato, another cannibalistic serial killer, since he is a lot more sadistic and remorseless than the player character is.
** They're implied to have grown weary of their way of life, though it's uncertain if it's from remorse or simply fatigue.
* EvilCannotComprehendGood: Has an inability to process or even understand ordinary human feelings, such as being unable to understand why Mariah wants to avenge her friends in the DLC or why Cabbage cares about possible victims coming to the cabin.
* TheFaceless: Their face is never seen, but we do get to see their arms when they stab Karin to death. Judging by how wrinkled and green they look, the rest of the protag probably isn't a pleasant sight. Every comment made on the protagonist's appearance is about how ghastly they are.
* HateSink: While Karin is the one murdering people, she’s only doing it out of desperation; the protagonist, on the other hand, intentionally tricks vulnerable people into situations like this to murder and eat them.
* KarmaHoudini: They get away with killing and eating the guests, and potentially hooks up with Karin... [[SubvertedTrope unless Mariah shanks them in another timeline]]. Their ultimate fate remains to be seen in ''Dread Weight''.
* KarmaHoudiniWarranty: The DLC adds an ending where [[KarmicDeath Mariah can stab them]] so she can escape the cabin.
* ImAHumanitarian: And they have been for a very long time.
* InLoveWithYourCarnage:
** Becomes infatuated with Karin if they treat the other companions badly. They even become a serial killer couple in one ending.
** They also seem attracted to Mariah in the ending which she survives, expressing admiration over how she keeps her composure even after cannibalizing the other companions.
* InvincibleBoogeyman: Though she's perfectly killable in the demotivated state we see her in throughout most of the game, she becomes a [[ImplacableMan nigh-untouchable]] [[PersonOfMassDestruction force of nature]] in her prime. By the start of ''Dread Weight'', she's been wreaking havoc on numerous settlements, wiping out populations singlehandedly and causing endless storms wherever she goes. Kurt outright advises against trying to fight her, and instead to just try and survive.
* LackOfEmpathy: Seems to be incapable of empathising with anyone. Not only do they casually eat the people who come to their house, but they don't seem to comprehend why this behaviour would bother others. They do seem to have a distaste for needless cruelty, however.
* ManipulativeBastard: Purposefully created a desperate survival scenario while mentally wearing down the companions in order to force them to resort to cannibalizing each other, potentially coming out with Karin as a new partner in crime.
* NightmareFace: Implied by the companions' reactions to seeing her for the first time, since they didn't seem to know who she really is.
* NoNameGiven: They are never referred to by any name by the other characters or narration. Subverted in ''Dread Weight'', which specifically calls them out as Baba Yaga.
* PsychoKnifeNut: They're about as fond of knives as Karin is, just quieter about it. It turns out that her knife actually belongs to them, and they later take it back with force.
* SamusIsAGirl: Agata and the Cupboard Spirit reveal she's a woman.
* UnholyMatrimony: In Karin's secret ending, they join up as a serial killer couple.
* UnusuallyUninterestingSight: Nobody seems too phased about them looking like a green and shriveled husk.
* VillainProtagonist: Hard to label them as anything but after multiple counts of cannibalizing guests to their cabin.
* WalkingSpoiler: Learning the truth about them recontextualizes everything about the game.
* WeatherManipulation: Has the ability to summon storms and heavy rainfall, which they used to trap the companions in their cabin by flooding the area around it.
* WickedWitch: Implied (and confirmed in ''Dread Weight'') to be Literature/BabaYaga, who cannibalizes others to [[ImmortalityImmorality extend her life]].
* WouldHurtAChild: She was responsible for kidnapping and murdering a number of children in the past, along with 4/5 of the Chompettes who were children.
* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: She killed Potato as the Butcher of Zakopane after he lured the future Chompettes to her cabin, and had been bringing her victims in the past as an attempt to appease her. She may have done this as punishment for killing Razael earlier, [[MoralityPet who she'd grown an attachment to]].

[[folder:Mariah]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cooking_companions_mariah.png]]
[[caption-width-right:350:]]
A kind-hearted animal lover that acts as TheHeart of the Companions.
----
* BewareTheNiceOnes: The sweetest member of the group, who loves animals and puts her friends above herself. She is also fully capable of [[PayEvilUntoEvil murdering you as retribution for your crimes]], and it's all but stated that [[SmitingEvilFeelsGood she enjoyed every second of it]], if her SlasherSmile is any indication.
* DyingAsYourself: Being the first to leave the cabin and die, she's the only one of the main characters who manages to avoid losing their humanity to cannibalism. Double subverted in the secret ending of Nightmare Mode, where she outlives her companions and survives by eating them, but still manages to hang on to her morality, kills the player character so that they will no longer be able to harm others, and goes on to do humanitarian work in order to make the world a better place, eventually dying as an old woman surrounded by loved ones.
* EarnYourHappyEnding: After the ghosts of Anatoly, Karin, and Gregor create a new timeline in which she becomes the last survivor, she kills the protagonist and makes sure they are gone for good. She then returns to the city, where she goes on to become a UN representative for Ukraine, works with the Polish government to study and put down "atypical beings" like the player, then lives up to the age of eighty-five, where she dies surrounded by her loved ones.
* TheHeart: The kindest and most energetic of the group, and the ‘glue that holds the group together’. No points for guessing who dies first in this game about turning on one another and reverting to animalistic tendencies.
* HiddenDepths: Possesses a great deal of knowledge on multiple subjects, putting Anatoly to shame. The difference is that she doesn't constantly try to push it in everyone's face how much she knows, and it comes out more naturally. She's particularly into literature, crafting, and engineering, and knows quite a bit about meteorology as well. Anyone who's ever dealt with extreme hunger knows that the brain's function is severely impaired under such conditions, making her intellect even more impressive.
* MoralityChain: The game takes a truly nightmarish turn when she dies, as consuming her corpse kicks off the SanitySlippage of the other characters.
* PayEvilUntoEvil: Her secret ending involves her stabbing you to death with [[SlasherSmile a maniacal grin on her face]]. Considering that you were a cannibalistic serial killer, she was entirely justified.
* PluckyGirl: Mariah refuses to give up in tough situations. This is what makes her the perfect candidate to put a stop to the Protagonist, as Anatoly and Gregor are too cowardly, while Karin breaks from the pressure.
* SacrificialLamb: She's the most sensitive and kind-hearted companion, and the first to leave the cabin.
* ShipTease: Possibly with Anatoly, given that his character description for the Kickstarter campaign mentions ‘letting Mariah have a taste’ rather than the protagonist presumably romancing him. When she leaves, she also uses the excuse that she is the best swimmer among them, despite knowing that Anatoly is, in order to go instead of him.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: When she confronts the player on the basement stairs as a ghost, she calls out their many misdeeds and the way they corrupted the other characters.
* TookALevelInCynicism: Following the new timeline of the Nightmare Mode DLC, Mariah went from being a NiceGirl to being a cold and brutal AntiHero who kills the Protagonist to end their reign of terror. Downplayed, as she then goes on to do humanitarian work with the UN to make the world a better place.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: She's terrified of bugs, especially spiders.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Anatoly]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cooking_companions_anatoly.png]]
[[caption-width-right:350:]]
A man that wants to be seen as intelligent and worldly, but is actually completely uneducated.
----
* BookDumb: Tries to make himself seem smart and well-read, but is actually ''illiterate'' and incapable of simple addition. You can speak to him while he is pretending to read at one point, and he's actually holding the book upside-down and obviously has no clue what it says. Potentially justified, as he is starving, after all, and malnutrition and starvation affect brain function. It's possible that he is actually quite learned, but he's not in a good enough state to show it.
* DumberThanTheyLook: Seems intelligent and certainly [[SmartPeopleWearGlasses looks the part]], but can’t read or do simple math, although he still knows things about foraging and is emotionally intelligent.
* FeigningIntelligence: Despite not knowing how to read, he spends his time staring at book pages to make it look like he can. Karin doesn't buy it.
* GratuitousAnimalSidekick: Has a small creature sitting on his left shoulder. It vanishes for good after Mariah leaves, and it is implied that the Protagonist killed it.
* ImAHumanitarian: Despite being a staunch vegetarian, he succumbs to hunger, though he vomits after the fact.
* NeverLearnedToRead: Anatoly has the outward appearance of a scholar, but never even learned simple math.
* OutOfCharacterAlert: After Mariah leaves the cabin and has her flesh eaten, Anatoly starts acting unnaturally aggressive towards the player when he gets hungry. He later apologizes during their meal, saying he didn't know what came over him.
* ScaryShinyGlasses: When he gets excited. Surprisingly not used as a NightmareFace.
* ThoseTwoGuys: With Gregor. Big Guy and Little Guy!
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Gregor]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cooking_companions_gregor.png]]
[[caption-width-right:350:]]
A large man with a heart of gold that tries to be optimistic in any situation.
----
* AbsurdPhobia: Is deathly afraid of ''marmots,'' which gets him teased quite a lot by the other cabin members early on. As it turns out, the reason for this phobia is that they remind him of the time his friend was gored to death by a wild boar because he was distracted by a group of marmots.
* AmbiguouslyGay: For Anatoly, as after Anatoly leaves the cabin and drowns, Gregor laments he "never got to tell [Anatoly] his true feelings". They also have cute pet names for each other. Gregor's feelings for Anatoly were since confirmed to be romantic by the developer in a Q&A.
* BigEater: Apparently as a kid, he'd go back not just for second helpings of dinner, but third and fourths as well. His appetite as an adult hasn't diminished; the achievement for maxing out your relationship with him is even called "Gregor the Glutton".
* BigFun: Though not as round as other examples, Gregor's big appetite, massive size, and unfailingly friendly disposition make him a textbook example of this trope.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: At some point in Gregor's youth, he and his friend were playing in the woods when they stumbled across some marmots. Gregor's friend was so distracted by them that he didn't notice that there was a boar with its baby. The boar assumed that Gregor's friend was getting too close to his baby and gored him. After his death, Gregor took an entire day to return home, due to how hard it was for him to carry the body of his dead friend. He did eventually make it, commenting that the screams of his friend's mother would be something he would never forget.
* GentleGiant: Gregor is a giant of a man described as having a heart of gold.
* HalfTheManHeUsedToBe: Karin cuts off both his legs to harvest the meat, while keeping him alive.
* HiddenDepths: Pursuing full hearts with Gregor will eventually unlock a scene where big, burly, gluttonous Gregor... is quietly knitting, and doing so rather well for a man with "giant paws" compared to his friends.
* ImAHumanitarian: Though not exactly willingly.
* LastRequest: To be covered with a blanket after Karin partially dismembers him alive. The player can [[MoralEventHorizon refuse]], of course. Regardless of your choice, he dies shortly afterwards.
* RealMenWearPink: Though he's boisterous and manly guy, one scene the player can have with Gregor also shows that he enjoys knitting during quiet moments.
* ThoseTwoGuys: With Anatoly. Gregor is implied (and later confirmed via WordOfGod) to have feelings for him, although it’s unknown if they’re reciprocated.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Karin]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cooking_companions_karin.png]]
[[caption-width-right:350:]]
--->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/HeatherGonzalez
The opposite of Gregor, Karin is a harsh and pessimistic woman that struggles with showing vulnerability to others.
----
* BitchInSheepsClothing: Who would think a young woman with such a sweet smile would be the cruelest and most monstrous of the titular companions in all but the Mariah ending?
* CrazySurvivalist: She is much more willing than the rest of the gang to get her hands dirty and do whatever it takes to survive, even if the others find it morally objectionable.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: This is not Karin's first close brush with starvation. When she was six, she nearly froze and starved to death with her parents. Her father managed to catch a mouse that he split into two for Karin and her mother to share.
* EvilCannotComprehendGood: The day after Mariah leaves the cabin, Karin reveals that Mariah lied about being the best swimmer in the group in order to persuade them to let her risk her life to go get help. Since you all knew Anatoly was the best swimmer, Karin is mystified why Mariah would lie about that. Given that Mariah is close with Anatoly and is generally a good person, it's clear that she lied so he wouldn't have to go.
* FieryRedhead: Redheaded and very blunt. She's also the least perturbed by cannibalism.
* FreudianExcuse: Being raised with little food to eat, she learned to never throw anything away...
* TheGadfly: From day one, enjoys picking on others, particularly when she makes fun of Anatoly's illiteracy and suggests that he read a picture book she found. This progresses from teasing to outright manipulation and evil when she later bullies him into leaving the cabin.
* TheHeavy: She's the one who does the most direct work in manipulating the other companions into sacrificing themselves and is the most eager to feast on their corpses, even proactively attacking Gregor for his meat. In one ending, she also joins [[BigBad the protagonist]] as a loving serial killer duo where they wreak havoc on the world together.
* HeelFaceTurn: Despite being TheFriendNobodyLikes, she ultimately helps Anatoly and Gregor with the ritual to revive Mariah. Mariah appreciates the sentiment and mourns her along with the rest of her friends after she's brought back to life and killed the Protagonist.
* HiddenDepths: Downplayed. In the extended opening, after Anatoly begins to say the group was "technically sent to the cabin," Karin snaps at him and tells the protagonist the group came of their own free will, with the protagonist noting that she seems "confident" with her answer. Considering the group's collective terror upon initially seeing the protagonist and the circumstances they were already running from, either Karin is used to having to lie to strangers, or she's read up on her folklore and already had the protagonist figured out long before anyone started dying.
* ImAHumanitarian: She takes to it quicker than the others, even beginning to enjoy it.
* {{Jerkass}}: Even before the first piece of human meat is in her mouth, Karin generally acts like an unpleasant, cynical bully who brings down the mood of the cabin with her very presence. Anatoly even explains how she likes to find out other people's weaknesses to use against them.
* LiteralManeater: A less monstrous example, but once she's really begun to enjoy eating human flesh, she throws Anatoly under the bus to get him to "leave the cabin" (read: die), chops Gregor up to eat him, and will later try to kill and eat the protagonist in most of the routes.
* NecessarilyEvil: She believes cannibalism is necessary for survival because they need all the food they can get.
* NightmareFace: Her ghoul faces are seen more frequently than the other characters', as she embraces cannibalism and madness more fully and lasts the longest of the four.
* NotSoWellIntentionedExtremist: She believes necro-cannibalism is a practical method of surviving and they need to use whatever they can find. However, she dismembered Gregor as soon as she deemed him unsaveable and decided to leave Anatoly to die when she realized that he wouldn't join them.
* PsychoKnifeNut: Her profile even lists one of her skills as "Has a knife". You better watch out for it.
* SignificantGreenEyedRedhead: For the protagonist. Her route is the most explicitly romantic, and one secret ending has the two of you in a happy relationship, surviving off travelers who come to the cabin!
* TragicVillain: While she does start killing people, she is ultimately another one of the Protagonist's victims that’s implied to have lived a pretty hellish life before the events of the game.
* UnholyMatrimony: In the ending where she falls in love with the protagonist, the story plays this for BlackComedy, speaking gleefully and sentimentally about years spent together butchering and eating people.
[[/folder]]

!!Chompettes
[[folder:In General]]
A group of friendly foods that serve as the player character's companions.
----

* DarkAndTroubledPast: The Chompettes were all murdered and cannibalized by the player character.
* MoralityPet: Cabbage, Onion, and Bread all try to be, while Raspberry wishes nothing but misery for the player and Potato is more interested in nurturing the player's worst aspects.
* PluckyComicRelief: Their overall role in an otherwise grim story. However, even they aren't exempt from providing scares of their own...
* WasOnceAMan: They used to be four children and a serial killer from Poland before they were killed by the protagonist.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Cabbage]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cooking_companions_cabbage.png]]
[[caption-width-right:350:]]
-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/DeneenMelody
The energetic leader of the Chompettes. Used to be a girl named Celina, before being killed by the protagonist and turned into a Chompette.
----
* AstonishinglyAppropriateAppearance: When she was alive, she wore a green dress and a hair bun, resembling a cabbage.
* BerserkButton: She will shut up anyone who tries to call the protagonist out for their past and current actions (like giving Raspberry a private dressing down for her behaviour towards them). She really doesn't want to talk about it, and does her best to move on and just have fun with everybody else. This frustrates Cabbage so much that she had to abruptly shut down a comedy contest and a teaching class due to Raspberry and Potato's insistence on chastising the protagonist.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: While she's generally the friendliest of the Chompettes, she's not above threatening to lock Potato up if he doesn't play along.
* ForgivenButNotForgotten: While it's evident she is trying not to hold a grudge against the protagonist for trapping her friends' spirits in the cabin, she makes it clear she and the other Chompettes will never forget what happened, and neither should the protagonist forget their past.
* HeHadAName: After she locks up Potato so he would stop being a ToxicFriendInfluence to the protagonist, she goes on an angry tirade of all the people who died between the years, one of them being her old classmate.
-->''BECAUSE INNOCENT LIVES GET CAUGHT IN YOUR MEDDLING! Konstancji....Ruslana....Kazimierz....THOSE WERE PEOPLE, NOT....NOT...!''
* GenkiGirl: She's kind, cheerful, and energetic the vast majority of the time, even when touching on dark subjects.
* TheLeader: Of the Chompettes. She also used to be the leader of their gang when they were alive.
* MirrorCharacter: Celina is this to Mariah. Both are cheerful, energetic, and friendly to everyone. They also have HiddenDepths.
* PositiveFriendInfluence: She thinks it's her job to reform the protagonist, such as trying to encourage them to eat more vegetables instead of meat.
* TheResenter: While she doesn't hold any grudges towards the Protagonist, she does resent Potato for trying to kill her and her friends when they were alive.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Onion]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cooking_companions_onion.png]]
[[caption-width-right:350:]]
--->'''Voiced by:''' Emma Breezy
The friendliest member of the Chompettes. Used to be a boy named Oleg, before being killed by the protagonist and turned into a Chompette.
----
* AstonishinglyAppropriateAppearance: When he was alive, he had messy yellow hair and cried easily, resembling an onion.
* DirtyCoward: In ''Dread Weight'', he betrays Cabbage in order to make Potato the new leader of the Chompettes.
* TheGadfly: He tells harmless lies (usually about the helpful properties of onions) to mess with the protagonist.
* MirrorCharacter: Oleg is this to Anatoly. Both are cowardly, lie about their intelligence, and are close to the other male of their respective gangs.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Potato]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cooking_companions_potato.png]]
[[caption-width-right:350:]]
The member of the Chompettes that's a bit...off, actually acknowledging the player's current circumstances instead of just being a comic relief. Used to be a serial killer nicknamed "Butcher Of Zakopane", before being killed by the protagonist and turned into a Chompette.
----
* AssholeVictim: Seeing how he's a fan of the protagonist's murders, tries to replicate their work, and is even a cannibalistic serial killer known as the "Butcher Of Zakopane", you really aren't supposed to sympathise with him when the protagonist kills him.
* BlackComedy: In the Chompette Comedy Competition, he ''was'' going to tell some jokes at the expense of the atrocities committed by the protagonist (unlike the other Chompettes whose jokes were light-hearted), but Cabbage shuts him down quickly.
* BookDumb: In the "Chompettes Courses" segment, he states that he dropped out of grade school to work as a butcher's apprentice. In the "Chompettes Origins" chapter, the children can find a couple of notes that seem to be from Potato to the main player character, with childish handwriting and atrocious spelling.
* TheCorrupter: Downplayed since the protagonist is already evil, but with a little encouragement, Potato can turn them from a semi-idle cryptid into an unstoppable killing machine that wipes out countless populations.
* TheDreaded: The rest of the Chompettes dislike and fear him, which makes sense given that he was attempting to kill them. And did kill Razael.
* EvilVersusEvil: He is a fellow cannibal that ended up becoming a victim of the protagonist. One of the hidden notes is even a news story about a corpse that was found stuffed inside a barrel of potatoes, likely carried out by him.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: The mention of the "Harris-Benedict equation" in his Kickstarter profile, which is an equation used to calculate a human's metabolic rate. This is because knowing the equation comes in handy for knowing how long the characters will be able to go without food.
* HarmlessVillain: As Potato, he can't directly harm or hurt anyone, much to his chagrin. [[ZigzaggedTrope This doesn't mean he can't manipulate the player to cause more harm than good]].
* HeWhoMustNotBeSeen: Unlike the other characters in the DLC, he is the only one who isn't seen on-screen. We only see his silhoutte, and it shows he was quite a tall guy.
* KickTheDog: Tells the kids he killed Razael before murdering them as well.
-->''SAY HI TO RAZAEL FOR ME''
* KickTheMoralityPet: It's heavily implied he killed Razael because he was being a positive influence to the protagonist.
* KnightOfCerebus: And in [[PluckyComicRelief The Chompettes]] as well! The horror of the game begins to really shine through once you have him explaining to you in scientific detail the process of starvation, and how much longer you'll be able to last on your dwindling supplies.
* LeanAndMean: He's noticeably taller and even lankier than the protagonist is, and is a shallow and unrepentant cannibal and child murderer.
* LoonyFan: He's a self-described fan of the protagonist, and also an unrepentant child murderer and cannibal. In contrast, the protagonist has ''very'' conflicted feelings about all the people they eat and is outspokenly disgusted by the notion of murdering the people they eat.
* MirrorCharacter: While the rest of the Chompettes mirror traits of the four Companions, Potato mirrors the protagonist themself, as a remorseless killer of innocent victims. However, he's far more unhinged and taunting than the protagonist.
* MoreDespicableMinion: He has all of the protagonist's terrible qualities, being a manipulative child-murdering cannibal, and none of the potentially redeeming qualities. Where the protagonist is just cold and calculating with a [[EvenEvilHasStandards distaste for needless cruelty]] and [[EvenEvilHasLovedOnes some people she cares about]], Potato is outright sadistic and cares for no one. In addition, he's trying to get the protagonist to be ''even worse''.
* NamesToRunFromReallyFast: His only known name (outside of Potato) is the "Butcher Of Zakopane."
* NoNameGiven: The other Chompettes all had their names revealed during Chompette Origins, but Potato's is never mentioned. Justified since the rest of them are close friends, [[SerialKiller while he is not]].
* PsychoKnifeNut: He claims that the knife you find in the cabin was originally his, and he wants you to return it to him when you're done. As for the "psycho" part, he was once a SerialKiller who preyed on children.
* TokenEvilTeammate: Of the Chompettes, naturally, since the rest are children and he's a remorseless (former) cannibalistic serial killer.
* ToxicFriendInfluence: If the protagonist intentionally stays silent in conversations and doesn't raise their RelationshipValues with anyone, he can convince them to spread their "culinary talents" across the world. He also expresses disappointment whenever the protagonist doesn't embrace their monstrous nature.
* UndyingLoyalty: To the protagonist, Baba Yaga. Even after she straight-up kills him and binds his soul to her cabin, the only thing he's worried about is preventing her from going soft.
* WouldHurtAChild: As a serial killer, he had no objection to killing children, as Celina, Ryna, Oleg, Bolek, and Razael can attest to.

The sweetest, always-merry member of the Chompettes. Used to be a girl named Ryna, before being killed by the protagonist and turned into a Chompette.
----
* ADayInTheLimelight: The DLC is from her perspective and is focused on her and her friends discovering the cabin and how they were murdered by the serial killer who later became Potato.
* AloofDarkHairedGirl: As Ryna, she was cold and withdrawn compared to the PerpetualSmiler Raspberry. Played with in that Ryna does express genuine happiness, amusement, and affection for her friends, while the always-smiling Raspberry is bitter and full of hatred for Potato and the player character.
* AstonishinglyAppropriateAppearance: When she was alive, she wore a frilly fuchsia dress, resembling a raspberry.
* DeadpanSnarker: When she was alive, her caustic remarks are about the only thing which can rein in her friends' antics.
* DefiantToTheEnd: Unusually, when Ryna and her friends are cornered by the Butcher of Zakopane, she doesn't seem scared. She looks mad. This is especially jarring when, after the Butcher is killed, she just stands there glaring at the screen, while her terrified friends try to flee.
* DontYouDarePityMe: She says this word for word to the protagonist if they apologize for her death and whatever they have done to keep her spirit trapped in the cabin.
* MirrorCharacter: Ryna is this to Karin. Both are withdrawn, aloof, and their experiences in the cabin broke them. They also make [[SlasherSmile disturbing faces]] after their true nature is revealed.
* SlasherSmile: Her art for the bonus Chompette Course section after the main game is completed portrays her with an unsettling grin that takes up almost the entirety of her body.
* StepfordSmiler: She never stops smiling, even when deadly serious. It becomes clear fairly early on that she is hiding some dark feelings despite her cheery exterior. She's the most broken of the Chompettes, holding nothing but hate and contempt for the Protagonist.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Raspberry is the most willing to call the protagonist out on their past and current actions, rather than beating around the bush like the other Chompettes (save Potato).
* TheResenter: She's the most bitter towards Potato for killing her and her friends and the protagonist for keeping them stuck as the Chompettes.
* YouMonster: Get her alone, and she's by far the most candid about considering the protagonist as such.

The jokester member of the Chompettes. Used to be a boy named Bolek, before being killed by the protagonist and turned into a Chompette.
----
* AstonishinglyAppropriateAppearance: When he was alive, he was chubby and wore brown clothing, resembling a plump bread.
* BigFun: When he was alive, he was a large boy who was always trying to cheer his friends up and loved eating. He is also the physically-bulkiest of the Chompettes, and tries to keep spirits up by telling jokes.
* DirtyCoward: In ''Dread Weight'', he betrays Cabbage in order to make Potato the new leader of the Chompettes.
* MirrorCharacter: Bolek is this to Gregor. Both are chubby, optimistic, and close to the other male of their respective gangs. They also lost a close friend in a traumatic incident.
* PungeonMaster: Nearly every other sentence he says contains some sort of pun.
* SadClown: It's stated that when he was alive, he used to tell jokes whenever he was nervous or scared. [[FridgeHorror Given he's always telling jokes as a Chompette]]...
* WhatWouldXDo: Many of his jokes and decisions are influenced by what Cornbread would say.

A lone Chompette who appears in a secret ending. Used to be a boy named Razael, Bolek's cousin.
----
* TheBabyOfTheBunch: The youngest of the Chompettes.
* BlitheSpirit: According to Ryna, Razael had a tendency to rush into people's lives and change them for the better.
* CheerfulChild: When alive, he was shy and sweet, and loved telling jokes.
* EarlyBirdCameo: You could find a toy boat with his name on it hidden in the cabin as early as the "Appetizer Edition" game demo, but his identity and importance to the plot is only fully revealed come the "Chompettes Origins" DLC.
* FamilyThemeNaming: When he and Bolek died, they became bread Chompettes.
* MoralityPet: The Protagonist seemed to be fond of him, to the point she spared him of the fate of being eaten… at least until he was killed by Potato. After Razael's death, the Protagonist still cares about him and willingly sent him to the afterlife.
* NightmareFuelColoringBook: While exploring the cabin, his friends come across drawings that he did, which seem to depict himself being held captive in a cage and eating at a table with a frightening black shadow that most likely represents the main player character.
* ThePollyanna: Despite being locked in the protagonist's cabin, he was carefree and had a positive view in life.
* PosthumousCharacter: Not only he was killed by the Butcher of Zakopane long before the start of the series, but he ascended to the afterlife after the Protagonist released his soul.

A girl who shows up briefly in one of the protagonist's dreams. Despite introducing herself as "Agata Nowak", the text box calls her "Anata".

[[folder:The Cupboard Spirit]]
A ghost encountered by Ryna in the "Chompettes Origins" DLC, inside the kitchen's cupboard. Yet another one of the protagonist's victims.
----
* BilingualBonus: His attempts to warn Ryna sounds like gibberish, but that's because he's speaking Portuguese. Audiences who knew the Portuguese language would've deduced what happened to Razael long before the Butcher of Zakopane appears.
-->''She is going to devour all of you. RUN. LEAVE.''
* CreepyGood: His face is scary as hell, but all he wants is help Ryna to get out of the cabin.
* LanguageBarrier: He only speaks Portuguese, and Ryna is unable to understand what he is saying. He himself admits he can't speak Polish very well either.
* NightmareFace: Pitch black eyes? Check. Giant grinning mouth wide-open? Check.
* PetTheDog: Tells Ryna to give Razael's drawings to his surviving relatives, so that they would have some closure about his death. Of course, Ryna can't understand what he's saying.
* WeWillMeetAgain: Inverted. Once the ghost hands over his drawings to Ryna, he says they will probably "NEVER" meet again.
