* BadassTeacher: She was cool to begin with, but became more active in helping Anpanman in the recent episodes.

! Uncle Bull/(ブルおじさん)
[[quoteright:125:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/unclebull.png]]
-->'''Voiced by:''' Masayuki Kato (''original appearance-1993''), Creator/KoichiYamadera (''538b'')
-->'''Debut:''' 4a

A bull dog citizen who tends to be grumpy at times.

He first encountered Anpanman as he saw paint marks all over his house thanks to Rakugaki Kozo who blamed him for it, though Anpanman tells him that he only spotted the mess and apologized for his outburst. Uncle Bull later lost his temper again when Baikinman bumped into him after stealing Rakugaki Kozo's paintbrush as he was trying to repaint his house. After Baikinman left, Uncle Bull later scolded at Rakugaki Kozo for what he's done and forgives the kid for his actions.

Uncle Bull later held the air race in Tombokun's debut story.
----
* BullyBulldog: He's a bulldog, but Uncle Bull is not a bully. Rather he gets short-tempered as times.
* OutOfFocus: He had two major roles early in the show's run, but quickly faded into the background once more characters were introduced in favor of the animal citizens.
* WhatExactlyIsHisJob: It's never stated exactly what Uncle Bull does as he only had a few major appearances and small cameos. His business suit makes it imply that he's possibly an office worker. His two major appearances in the show (4a and 154b) indicate that he's likely the mayor as he was the one who yelled at Anpanman for the graffiti and was the one who held the flying race, but it's never confirmed. Then his small cameo in 538b has him picking up trash at a park.

! Rare Cheese/(レアチーズ)
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rarecheese.png]]
-->'''Voiced by:''' Mina Tominaga, Yuriko Fuchizaki
-->'''Debut:''' 377a

A female poodle that belongs to Usako who also loves Cheese.

She first met Melonpanna and Cheese when both she and Usako were picking flowers in a field. Cheese fell in love with her at sight after finding her sleeping in the meadow of flowers and decided to hang out. However, this didn't last long as Baikinman captured their owners as he was trying to steal all the flowers at the meadow for Dokinchan. The two dogs decide to go help rescue their owners, but Cheese tells the poodle to get Anpanman while he goes out to rescue the two from Baikinman's net. This didn't work as Baikinman saw Cheese dangling from the net and fell into the waterfall. After Anpanman rescued the girls, Rare Cheese goes out in the water to rescue Cheese.
----
* DependingOnTheArtist: Her fur color varies on various episodes and merchandise. Rare Cheese has a slight pink tint, but some covers depict her either more pink or white color.
* EdibleThemeNaming: Like Cheese, Rare Cheese is named after a Japanese cheesecake.
* IconicSequelCharacter: Rare Cheese was introduced almost 8 years after the anime started, but became a popular character in the series due to her being a love interest to Cheese.

[[caption-width-right:298:From left to right; Kamameshidon, Tendonman, and Katsudonman.]]

* FreudianTrio: Each of the trio corresponds to one of the three:
** Tendonman -- Somewhere between Ego and Id.
** Katsudonman -- Somewhere between Superego and Id.
** Kamameshidon -- Somewhere between Ego and Superego.
%%* HotBlooded
* MeaningfulName: All three of their names. Check each of their profiles to see what their names mean.
* PowerCopying: Basically, if the food inside their bowl is removed or eaten, they can change personalities depending what they're refilled with.
* PromotionToOpeningTitles: Tendonman first appeared in the second opening, while the latter two show up in the next one.
* SuperSpeed: All of them can run fast, but Kamameshidon is the best example.
* TreasureMap: One episode focus on them trying to find treasure after they find a map. However, this leads them to Tahara-kun and Rice-chan's rice fields.
* VerbalTic: A feature of all three, with Tendonman's archaic Edo lilt, Katsudonman's GratuitousEnglish, and Kamameshidon's Tohoku dialect.
* VitriolicBestBuds: Regardless of their fighting about which dishes are better, they still have each others' back.
* WorthlessTreasureTwist: In that same episode, they discover that rice is somewhat of an actual treasure since it's really important to eat. Keep in mind, the dishes the three were based on rely on rice.

! Tendonman/(てんどんまん)
[[quoteright:253:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tendonman_4047.png]]
-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/ChikaSakamoto
-->'''Debut:''' 1

One of the members of the Donburiman Trio, and can be considered the unofficial leader since he's the first one to appear. He first met Anpanman since the show's debut.
----
* AlwaysAChildToParent: Tendonman is a fully grown adult who lives on his own, yet his mother still treats him like a child.
* BANGFlagGun: He had one in one of the edutainment specials. Anpanman and Baikinman were scared shitless when they thought it was a real gun.
%%* BlushSticker
* BrattyHalfPint: Even though he's around the same height as the other Donburis, he acts like this.
* EdibleThemeNaming: "Tendon" is a Japanese dish of seafood and vegetable tempura with rice.
* ImprobableWeaponUser: He uses his chopsticks.
* PromotionToOpeningTitles: Since the second opening.
* PunnyName: Aside from the obvious, there's one that's LostInTranslation: Tendonman's behavior is based on that of a ''[[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chindon%27ya chindon-ya]]'', a kind of street performer used to advertise businesses, performances, and the like. Tendonman, being the first of the donburi characters introduced, sings the praises of ''himself''. This behavior spreads first to the other members of the trio, and then the other donburi characters in general, although the pun only really makes sense with Tendonman.
* RealMenWearPink: He wears a pink vest.
* TheStoic: Became one in one episode where chawanmushi was poured in his head.

! Katsudonman/(カツドンマン)

-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/YujiMitsuya

One of the members of the Donburiman Trio, and the smart one out of the group.
----
* BigShutUp: He did this towards Baikinman and the other kids in one of the edutainment shorts when no one was paying attention to the food he made.
* CanonImmigrant: He originally appeared in the 1989 film. He later became part of the show after a few months.
%%* TheDandy
* EdibleThemeNaming: "Katsudon" is a Japanese dish of rice topped with tonkatsu and egg.
* GratuitousEnglish: Because pork cutlets were introduced to Japan from England, he'll often say things like, "Yes!", "No!", "Shut up!", and "Oh My God!".
* ObligatorySwearing: Because he's one of the few characters to say English phrases, Katsudonman would sometimes say "Oh My God" at times. While saying "God" is very tame for a kids' show in Japan, saying that in context would count as a swear as it's used in vain, which is hardly or never used for kids programming in the West.
* OutOfFocus: While a major player in the group, Katsudonman is the only one out of the three to hardly any major episodes to himself. Not counting his debut story, Katsudonman only has at least 10 episodes that focus on him, some of which are shared with his brother Tamagodonman.
* SensitiveGuyAndManlyMan: He's the manly man to Tamagodonman's Sensitive Guy.
%%* TheSmartGuy

! Kamameshidon/(かまめしどん)
[[quoteright:207:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kamameshidon_5078.png]]
-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/KoichiYamadera

One of the members of the Donburiman Trio, and the muscles out of the group.
----
* CanonImmigrant: Like Katsudonman, he originally appeared in the 1989 film. He later became part of the show after a few months.
* EdibleThemeNaming: "Kamameshi" means "kettle rice".
* TheBigGuy: Although he's around the same height, he's the strongest out of the three.
* ImprobableWeaponUser: He uses his rice paddles.
* NakedPeopleAreFunny: He's seen naked in Onsen-kun's debut episode.
* OddNameOut: Out of the tree, he doesn't have a "man" on his name due to how long his name is.
* TemporaryLoveInterest: He tends to crush on whatever female character he's paired with.

! Unadonman & Sansho-kun/(うなどんまん&さんしょくん)

A snobbish Donburi who claims himself to most delicious food, in contrast to the other bowlhead characters. He is accompanied by a tiny living container.

%%* MilesGloriosus
* PepperSneeze: Sansho-kun does this on Baikinman several times whenever they're in trouble.
* PowerCopying: Similar to the Donburiman Trio, Unadonman can changed his personality depending on what's filled in his head. One example was when his head was filled with a kettle, courtesy of Kamameshidon.
* PromotionToOpeningTitles: Since the fourth opening.
* RedOniBlueOni: Unadonman is the blue, while Sansho-kun is the red. Unadonman can also be the blue to Gyudonman's red.
* TheRival: Pretty much to the Donburiman Trio and Currypanman. They become in friendly terms at the end.

* RememberTheNewGuy: Anapnman knows Pudding-chan prior to the events of her actual appearance, but the viewers never heard of her.
* SpotlightStealingTitle: After their debut story, Pudding-chan gets the top billing whenever the two appear with another character. This is most likely because of both how she is the front person of the duo and the fact they can't add three names in the title.

A tap-dancing gentleman who likes giving his signature food Baumkuchen cake to others. He first met Anpanman and the bakery crew when he was about to visit Uncle Jam, but not without bumping into Baikinman who gave him a bad impression as the alien lashed out at him about his looks.

* ADayInTheLimelight: Despite not being a major character, he shares some episodes with Horrorman, Currypanman and Cheese.
* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: His interest in tap dancing wasn't added to his character until his second episode with Horrorman.

* LongBusTrip: Between his debut appearance in 1999 to the 2020s, he only had six episodes with three long-year gaps of his absents (seven if you count his cameo in the 700th episode). His first absence was between his two episodes from 1999 to 2004, then his second was between 2004 to 2014 (partly due to his voice actor dying six years after). Even after being recast in 2014, he vanished again until the 2020s. Thankfully he was able to appear a few more times by the 2020s.
* SpinAttack: Similar to Rollpanna, his main attack is with his baton.

* ThePollyanna: As stated, she doesn't see Bakinman as a bad guy.
* PromotionToOpeningTitles: She appeared in the eleventh opening 15 years after her initial debut.

In her debut story, she was supposed to visit Uncle Jam, but took a detour after seeing a butterfly in a meadow of flowers and fell asleep. Because it was taking a long time, Anpanman and Melonpanna decided to see where she had gotten off to and helped her lead the way to the bakery after they found her in the meadow. Waffle-chan was able to make waffles for the children and bakery crew but was distracted after finding Baikinman's UFO hidden in the bushes as the alien wanted to try out her waffles. Baikinman had to chase after her once he saw his UFO was flying and they crashed and landed at his lair. He scolds her for what happened and cries, but Dokinchan is able to calm her down. Dokinchan decides to play with her and the two along with Baikinman decide to make waffles together. This failed and Baikinman decides to attack Ice Cream Cone Man with the Beroberomen.

He works with Ice Candy Man and Frappe-chan at the beach serving their cold treats to everyone.

* SimilarSquad: Like how Frappe-chan and Ice Candy Man represent both Anpanman and Currypanman, Ice Cream Cone is the Shoukpanman of the trio. He is very soft-spoken and very flamboyant contrast to Ice Candy's hot-headedness and they would clash heads with each other. Ice Cream Cone originally rode on a bike that serves ice cream before upgrading it to a truck, similar to how Shoukpanman upgraded his truck later on in the show. Ironically, both Ice Cream Cone Man and Shoukpanman clash with each other when they do meet up later on the show, though they make amends at the end.
* SpotlightStealingSquad: Out of the three ice dessert-based characters, Ice Cream Cone is the only one to give the most attention, especially during the 2010s when he came back. Justified as he was in the show since the first year and he was neglected throughout the 90s and 2000s.

When Batako was sick, she tells Anpanman to get some cotton candy from Watame Jisan as it can help make her throat feel a bit better. But when Anpanman was in town, he saw a long line of customers getting cotton candy and was worried he wouldn't get any as Watame Jisan only comes once a year. Making things worse Baikinman was pretending to be a rich person so he could be the first to get Watame Jisan's treat, only for the villain to disappear with the old man out of sight as he used his magic to put him to sleep. Dokinchan sees that Anpanman is following them after the pair vanished with Watame Jisan, so Baikinman uses the magic cane again to make cotton candy for her and creates cotton candy copies of Baikinman to stop the hero. He disguises himself as one of the cotton candy copies to use his cane to stop Anpanman again. Dokinchan is happy and wants Watame Jisan to make some cotton candy, but he is still under hypnosis and wakes him up and demands he to make her some. As he finds out what happened to Anpanman, Watame Jisan creates a giant cotton candy copy of the hero and is able to stop Baikinman just before he shocks Anpanman. 547
In her debut story, she shows up in town and gives out her konpeitos to the children and tells them that they're pieces of a shooting star and you can make a wish on them if you eat one. Everyone overhears this, including Baikinman and Dokinchan, and swipe her whole basket of candies as they want to make wishes for themselves. Anpanman, Shoukpanman, and the bakery decided to help Konpeito-san make a new batch of her candies. But she is worried that her lies that her star-bit candies can actually grant wishes would get back at her, which they do as Dokinchan yells at Baikinman that the candies only gave her toothaches instead of her wishes being granted. Baikinman kidnaps Konpeito-san when he sees her by the bakery and both villains confront her on giving the star bit that can grant Dokinchan's wish. However, Anpanman and Shoukpanman are able to rescue her by stopping Baikinman, and somewhat granting Dokinchan's wish as she gets surprised by Shoukpanman showing up behind her. Later that day, Konpeito-san admits to Uncle Jam that her candies aren't really star bits. But he makes her feel better about the time Anpanman was born out of shooting stars.
----
* AmbiguousSituation: She is one of the few characters based on the konpeito, the other being the Konpeitoumen in Sugar Land. But it's never stated if she's related to them or in fact connected with th kingdom itself.

* EdibleThemeNaming: Konpeitos are Japanese sugar candies that resemble stars that originated by Portuguese traders in the 16th century.
* LongBusTrip: After her debut story, Konpeito-san vanished for almost 5 years until she became a major character in one of the "Happy Birthday" home video specials made between 1995 to 1996. She made a cameo a few months later in episode 392a "Ame Trio and the Summer Festival", but vanished for another 8 years as Konpeito-san was in another cameo at the end of the 2004 movie short. 580A giant dog-dragon who loves to eat adzuki beans, the same filling used for anpans. He also has a son, Koankora.

In his original book, Ankora was causing trouble in the town as he was stealing sweets from shops. Batako tells Uncle Jam and Anpanman about it and decided to put a stop to it. Because Ankora has a sweet tooth, Uncle Jam decides to change it to curry to chase the giant away.

In the anime, Ankora was feeling hungry and starts his day in a bad mood after bumping inside of the cave he was sleeping in. The giant met Baikinman after he saw the sweets on the villain's table and later encountered Batako, Uncle Jam, and Cheese as the trio was picking strawberries. He ate Batako's basket and ate almost everything except for the dinnerware and currypan and got his foot injured with one of the forks. Uncle Jam helps the giant out of pulling the fork out of his foot and leaves the trio alone, but Baikinman decides to cause trouble for Anpanman by giving out anpans to Ankora and telling him Anpanman and use him as a weapon to destroy the bakery. Because Ankora likes the filling inside Anpanman's head, Uncle Jam decides to change it to curry to chase the giant away and foil Baikinman's plan.

-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/TesshoGenda
-->'''Debut:''' 45a (''Anime''), The Shining Star's Tear (''movie'')

A sand giant who watches over the desert regions, mainly to protect whatever treasures lie in the sand. Due to him originally being a movie character and later part of the anime, he has two different backstories.

In the 1989 movie, Sunaotoko was guarding the "Tear of Sand" as Anpanman and the gang were trying to help Princess Nanda Nanda find the "Glittering Tear". In the series, he was deceived by Baikinman when Hamburger Kid was roaming in the desert.
----
* AdaptationalEarlyAppearance: In the first movie, he was the second obstacle Anpanman and the main characters dealt with after the Ice Queen. However, in the show, he appears much earlier than the Ice Queen as she won't appear in the show for another few years.
* AffablyEvil:
** [[DependingOnTheWriter Depending on the episode]], he's either a gentle giant or a bad guy. The openings can indicate whether he's a good or bad guy.
** This also extends to the openings. For most of them (sixth, ninth, and eleventh openings), he is seen with a majority of the giant villains. But in the tenth opening, Sunaotoko is seen with some of the good characters.
* AmbiguousSituation: Because the movie and television continuities are messy, there are some unknown details about whether or not he is the Sunaotoko that was attacking the main characters in the 1997 movie. Despite being voiced by the same actor, the Sunaotoko in the film is much more evil due to him trying to attack the main characters and doesn't have any remorse for his actions. The only clue is that Sunaotoko lacks eyebrows. The 2018 movie displays that there are more creatures that look like Sunaotoko, making it imply that both the Sunaotoko who originated from the 1989 movie and from the 1997 movie are different characters.
* AmbiguouslyEvil: Despite not causing any malicious intentions with the main cast in the first movie, Sunaotoko would often flip from being good or bad depending on what happens in the episode. Sometimes he would side with Baikinman if he tricks him into thinking Anpanman stole a precious treasure from him. Unlike Kaze Konkon who he causes coldness and others to be sick from his icy breath, Sunaotoko relies on using a wind instrument that can be used for both good and bad.
* CanonImmigrant: Originally a character in the first Anpanman film, Sunaotoko became part of the show afterward.

She first met Anpanman when she was walking happily, though this changed when she saw Batako covered in dirt after working out and gives her a huge makeover, much to Batako's confusion. Ripplechan later gave everyone in town a similar makeover and despite the mixed reception with the folks, she became famous which caused attention to both Baikinman and Dokinchan. Baikinman decides to cause trouble by pretending to be her so he can make everyone look worse than what Ripplechan offered, which causes awareness to Anpanman. Though this doesn't last as he gives Dokinchan a bad makeover, which causes her to chase the disguised Baikinman until she finds out what happened. Anpanman tries to save Ripplechan, but he gets stomped by Baikinman and she helps out by using her magical makeup to send an alarm to the bakery crew and tries to distract Baikinman by giving his mecha a makeover, but she gets captured at the end. She is saved by both Anpanman and Dokinchan and Baikinman is punched. Anpanman was puzzled about where both Ripplechan and Dokinchan went, but it was later revealed that Ripplechan gave Dokinchan a makeover as both a thank-you gift for saving her and also to make up for what Baikiman did to her.

She only appears in episode 608a "Anpanman and Ripplechan", though she was in a small cameo in the 2002 film short "Tekka Maki-chan and Golden Kamameshidon".
----

Because of the fog, Piano-man had trouble with his one keynote as it didn't play the sound. 1172
A master of the cello. He lives at his cabin by the mountains, though he'll often play with the other musicians at Doremifa Island. He is also an old friend to Uncle Jam.

Prior to his introduction, Cellohiki was a master at playing the cello, but one day lost confidence in himself after a mishap with one of his music sheets flying off that he made himself a fool in front of others. He tells to Uncle Jam that he plans to retire from playing the cello and gives him it. The cello was resting at Uncle Jam's bakery and it wasn't until Melonpanna found it covered in dust at the garage that Uncle Jam told everyone about the former cellist and suggested that they should hold a concert together to help get his confidence back. Baikinman thinks it's a guitar as Dokinchan was looking for one and steals it under their noses. Meanwhile, the cellist was trying to get back into playing the cello, but he couldn't as the makeshift one he made from twigs wasn't as good as his old one. But after Baikinman's UFO malfunctioned, Cellohiki got his cello back and was able to get his confidence back at playing the cello and played music for Baikinman as rescued him from the wreckage. Baikinman wanted to leave after waking up, but Cellohiki's music caught the villain in a hypnotic way that he ended up going back to sleep. As a thank you for returning his cello, the cellist offered food to Baikinman and music lessons on playing the instrument, though it didn't go well as Baikinman wasn't paying attention to what Cellohiki was saying and told him to try again. Anpanman found Cellohiki as he heard the cellist's music and Cellohiki was about to tell the hero who gave it back to him, but Baikinman tells him not to and just says he forgot who the returnee was. Anpanman tells Cellohiki about having a concert, which the cellist agrees that he would play with the cello returnee. After Cellohiki told Baikinman about why he quit a long time ago, the villain decided to give the cello lessons another go for the concert, though in disguise. The concert was a success and Cellohiki has the passion to play the cello and gives thanks to both Uncle Jam and Baikinman.
----
* AmbiguouslyGay: Cellohiki seems to be very close to Uncle Jam and makes it sound like he likes him more than a friend as shown in both his debut story and the 2004 Christmas special "Anpanman and the Christmas Star". Though it's unknown if Cellohiki loves Uncle Jam or if the former has the same affection or not.
** Prior to his introduction, Cellohiki was talking to Uncle Jam about taking care of his cello.
* BlackBeadEyes: Sort of. They're mostly shaped like musical notes.
* CharacterizationMarchesOn:
** Cellohiki was clumsy in his debut story, which is the reason he mad a fool of himself at his last concert.
** Unlike his later interactions when teaching to play the cello, Cellohiki was very stern towards Baikinman when he didn't take the lessons seriously. Though it's likely due to what happened to him that caused him to be grouchy.
* ElegantClassicalMusician: Cellohiki is a cellist who plays classical music.
* FriendToAllLivingThings: Because he lives in the forest, he tends be to friendly towards the critters.
* NonHumanHead: Cellohiki has a cello for a head, which he can use when he doesn't have a cello on hand. What's odd is that Cellohiki himself never thought of trying this when he wanted to get back into playing the instrument, though it's likely he didn't want to risk himself at he time as he didn't have his confidence back.
* OutOfFocus: Cellohiki was reduced to silent cameos between 2012 and 2015 as his original actor passed away and it wasn't until he was recasted.

-->'''Voiced by:''' Tomohiro Nishimura
-->'''Debut:''' 628a
A man with an accordion as a head who likes to sing and makes others happy.

He first met Anpanman as the hero was trying to stop Baikinman from attacking Miss Mimi and the children as they were picking flowers, and Accordionman stopped the villain as his music sobered the villain to kick Baikinman away. Anpanman told the bakery crew about the music and Accordionman paid a visit to play his music to them. Just as Accordionman is playing music for everyone in the town, Baikinman kidnaps him for what happened earlier and tries to torture the musician by stretching the bellows on his face, but Dokinchan is woken up by this and wants to hear his music. She loves Accordionman's music and she wants to dance to it and drags Baikinman to it, much to his annoyance that he tries to attack him. Anpanman tries to rescue the musician, but Baikinman's attacks are so strong that he is trapped. Accordionman decides to help out by distracting Baikinman with his accordion music, though the villain uses earmuffs to block out the music which causes him to ignore Anpanman's warning that a boulder is about to hit him. Regardless, Anpanman punches Baikinman out and Accordionman plays music for everyone at the bakery.
----
* AdvertisedExtra: Accordionman was added in the show's tenth opening once it transitioned to widescreen, but he only appeared four times in the show (three of which are major episodes that focus on him) and hasn't appeared anymore after that.
* LongBusTrip: Accordionman's last episode was when he was paired with Yakisobapanman in 2010, and hasn't returned since.
* PolkaDork: Because of his head, Accordionman would sometimes play polka music.
* ReusedCharacterDesign: His body is Book-Sensei's, but with a different shade of blue for the outfit and shoes that match the color of his handles.
* UnreliableIllustrator: Accordionman's bellows (the part where you extend the accordion to make the sounds) and hands are a light cream color, but the encyclopedia depicts them to be much darker.

A water fairy who plays the lyre. She plays near Tongari Island at an underwater temple known as "Lunar Capital" whenever it's a full moon.

Anpanman and the bakery crew heard about the fairy as Kamome-san told them about the other night he flew by Tongari Island and heard some beautiful music. He decided to investigate where the music was coming from and met the fairy as she was playing in front of other sea creatures and thought her music was wonderful. Baikinman and Dokinchan also caught up with the musical fairy as they were lurking in the ocean and Dokinchan thought Luna's instrument was wonderful and wanted it for herself. Baikinman decides to kidnap Luna and Anpanman tries to chase after them, but is caught in a trap planted by the villains. Dokinchan tries to play the lyre, but it makes a horrible sound, and thought the instrument is broken. Luna warns them that it can only be played in the water, but the villains ignore her and decide to try destroying it. But not before Anpanman freed himself and stopped the duo from causing any more trouble. Luna was able to play her music once more and Anpanman, the bakery crew, and all the sea creatures enjoyed it.
----
* AdvertisedExtra: Luna was added to the official website in the 2010s/2020s, but hasn't appeared in the show since the 1990s.

A giant duck who can make people go to sleep when he yawns. If this happens, you'll be sent into the dream world. He is seen by a lake.
----
* AllJustADream: Whenever he yawns, he'll send the main character of the episode into a long sleep and into a dream. Most of these dreams are nightmares, (Creampanda's case), or they'll be good for so long until something bad happens (Dokinchan's case when she was about to kiss Shokupanman). After he sneezes, all of the characters wake up and none of them (except for the main character) will remember the events that happened in the episode.

--> '''Voiced by:''' Tomie Kataoka
-->'''Debut:''' 57a

A pillow-headed boy who causes people to sleep using his powers and takes others into their dreams.

In his debut story, he mimics a regular pillow in the woods and causes Baikinman to fall asleep with his sleeping powers. Baikinman saw the pillow and fell asleep on it and Makura Kozo was able to see the villain's dream to defeat Anpanman. After revealing himself to Baikinman, Makura Kozo decides to team up with him to stop Anpanman. Later that day Baikinman pretends to be a delivery man and gives Anpanman a package claiming it's from someone who saved him the other day and was a gift for him, said gift turns out to be Makura Kozo. After finding out what was Anpanman's nightmare, Makura lets Baikinman inside Anpanman's dream so he can defeat the hero. Batako and Uncle Jam found out that Anpanman's head was being eaten thanks to Baikinman's miniature selves eating it, so they hurried and made extra heads until Baikinman was full and Anpanman was able to figure out that the pillow was the cause of his problems. Both Makura Kozo and Baikinman ran off afterward.
----
* AdvertisedExtra: He shows up a lot in the credits throughout the show's first decade, but he only had two major episodes during that time with very small cameos.
* AmbiguousSituation: In the 1992 film short "Currypanman and SL-Man", [[https://blog-imgs-64.fc2.com/s/o/r/sorean/m04d3_2.jpg there was a pillow-headed character amongst Baikinman's posse that resembles Makura Kozo]]. But it's unknown if that was him or not due to the fact said character in the short looks very off-model. Mainly due to the fact he looks taller, his eyelids are wide open compared to the sleepy ones, and lacks the curved arches on his head.
* AmbiguouslyEvil: Due to the fact that Makura Kozo only had two major stories in the anime (three if you count his book "Dokinchan and Makura Kozo") and his smile makes him sinister, it's hard to tell if he's actually a good, bad or neutral person since his stories and certain cameos give his nature conflicting.
** In his debut story, Makura causes Baikinman to fall asleep from his beam powers and willingly agrees to help out the villain, unlike the other characters Baikinman would often trick to get back at Anpanman. While Makura doesn't redeem himself as Anpanman stopped his actions, he wasn't punched off to the sky or killed off like some of the other villains Anpanman defeated in both past and future episodes.
** His "cameo" in the 1992 film short "Currypanman and SL-Man" has him in Baikinman's posse as they're chasing SL-Man, though it's debatable if that is Makura Kozo due to how off-model the character is.
** Makura's episode with Horrorman makes it apparent that he's much more on friendly terms with Anpanman since their first encounter. Anpanman and the Bakery crew weren't hesitant in letting Makura in. The fact that Anpanman and Melonpanna were happy and supportive to go with him alongside Horrorman to see Dokinchan's dream helps support he's more on the heroes side in that story.
** In one of the hard cover picture books, [[https://web.archive.org/web/20230508122942/https://static.mercdn.net/item/detail/orig/photos/m99056692085_5.jpg?1676455922 he was seen alongside a drowzy Princess Muscat]]. It's unknown if he used his powers on her like he did with Baikinman in his debut story.
** At the start of the 1990 film "Baikinman's Counterattack", he was running away from Baikinman.
** In Uncle Nemunemu's debut story, Makura was seen dancing alongside the rest of the characters when Akachanman had trouble falling asleep.
* EasilyForgiven: Despite causing trouble for Anpanman in his debut episode, Makura seems to be forgiven by his next appearne with Horrorman.
* LongBusTrip: His last major episode was in 1993, while his last onscreen appearance was in 1999, and hasn't had an appearance since then.
* NonHumanHead: He has a pillow for a head. Makura Kozo was able to use this as a way to disguise himself as a regular pillow in his debut story.
* ThePrankster: He is mischievous in his debut story as he helped Baikinman to cause trouble inside Anpanman's dream.
* PunnyName: Makura is Japanese for "pillow".

In her debut story, she sees a reflection of the sun in the river after admiring it and orders her coachman Avocado Jiya to fetch it. Just as Avocado Jiya is telling his majesty that he can't get the sun, Baikinman shows up and uses his bucket with the sun's reflection to pour all over Duiran. The princess scolds Baikinman for his actions, but he doesn't care and starts to attack her, though Anpanman is there to save her from Baikinman's actions. Durian admires Anpanman and wants him to be his knight and offers the bakery crew her delicious fruit bowl, but he is reluctant as he has to patrol for others. So Durian goes on a wild chase to find him. Baikinman overhears this and decides to cause trouble for the two by giving trouble to the townspeople and calling out Anpanman's name. This kept going until both Baikinman and Durian were tired out, though Anpanman gives the princess a piece of his head seeing as she was pooped out. Though this doesn't last as Baikinman shows up to attack the two. The kids were able to distract Baikinman as Anpanman told her to go get help. She was able to deliver Anpanman's new head and was able to stop Baikinman by giving her a spikey durian for Anpanman to deliver the final punch. She told Anpanman at the end that she felt much better after understanding Anpanman's courage.

* BreakoutCharacter: After her debut story, Durian appears a few more times during the tale end of the cel-animated run until she starts to become a recurring character later in the show's run. She appeared almost every year with the exceptions of 1999, 2001, 2009, 2012, 2014, and 2016.
* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: In her second episode where she meets Dokinchan, her rollout carpet is magical and can be used to clean out trash. This was never brought up again after that.
* EdibleThemeNaming: Durians are edible fruits that are spikey that is certain parts of Asia. They are either sweet fruits or some would find them horrible depending on their tastebuds.
* TheFriendsWhoNeverHang: In the eighth opening, she was seen alongside Omusubiman, Naganegiman, Yakisobapanman and Nigauriman. While she would later interact with Naganegiman three times (752a, 971a, and 1007a), Yakisobapanman (798a) and Nigauriman (879a), she hasn't interacted with Omusubiman since that opening.

They only apppeared in episode 899a "Baikinman and Hatena Tower".
----
* AmbiguouslyEvil: It's never stated properly if Hatena actually wanted to harm Baiknman when taken to the dream world before Anpanman rescued the trio that they switch sides, or she was good along and wanted to teach Baikinman a lesson.

-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/ChikaSakamoto
-->'''Debut:''' 546a

The princess of Sugar Land who wants to be a knight. She carries a giant sword made of candy and rides around in a sentient toy horse.

In her debut story, she wanted to protect Melonpanna and the kids from Baikinman's baseball terrorism, but that didn't go as planned as she quickly fell off of her horse and was attacked alongside them. Though she was saved from Anpanman and wanted to play with him. Candy chases after the hero, but once she catches up with him, Anpanman tells her that he's busy on patrol and leaves. Baikinman overhears this and decides to cause trouble for the princess by pretending he's Anpanman and using a sword to battle her. But the sword was just a party popper filled with Beroberomen and they quickly licked her sword. Baikinman reveals himself to Candy and traps her in a hole. Anpanman tries to rescue her, but the Beroberomen start to attack the two and get sprayed with water. The princess was able to grab Anpanman on her horse and tried to get away from Baikinman until they got help from the townsfolk to get Anpanman's new head. She was able to understand what Anpanman's work meant and went off to be a better person.
----
* AwesomeButImpractical: Candy's sword is very useful in combat. The problem is that due to it being made of sugar, it wouldn't last long either due to water or being licked by Beroberomen.
* CuteClumsyGirl: She's not exactly clumsy, but Candy would often fall off due to her sword being very heavy.
* EdibleThemeNaming: Like the rest of Sugar Land, Candy is based on sweets.
* HorseOfADifferentColor: She rides on a toy horse that is sentient.
* LongBusTrip: After her initial debut, Candy vanished from the show until 2004 when she interacted with Creampanda. Then quickly vanished after her interaction with Currypanman in 2005 until a decade later when she interacted with Miss Mimi during a camping trip with some of her students.
* PrimaryColorChampion: Her colors are mainly pink, blue, and yellow and she wants to be a knight to her kingdom.
* RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething: She's a princess, but wants to be a knight to protect others.

-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/KeikoHan, Creator/EmiShinohara, Creator/MaayaSakamoto
-->'''Debut:''' 180a

A girl who travels with her instrument known as "The Green Ocarina" which is known for making plant life grow. She was sent out by her kingdom to help the trees and plants grow after Winter is done.

Baikinman and Dokinchan first encountered her when she was playing her ocarina, and Dokinchan wanted to take her instrument as she thought it sounded wonderful. Baikinman swipes it from the Princess and Dokinchan tries to play it, but it doesn't work. After refusing to give it back, the two try to leave but are stopped by Anpanman. Both Anpanman were defeated by Baikinman's umbrella missiles and Dokinchan destroyed Princess Ocarina's instrument. They return to the bakery where the Princess gets healed, though she feels upset as she's on a mission and can't finish it without her Green Ocarina. Uncle Jam says that they can make another one by collecting the materials they need, though this is thwarted a few times by Baikinman as he tries to cut all the branches off a tree and tries to get the Princess' new instrument as Dokinchan still wants it. Anpanman was able to stop him and the Princess was able to finish her mission after her new Green Ocarina was complete.
----
* AdvertisedExtra: She appears a lot in the fourth version of the "Courage Rin-Rin" credits during the mid 1990s and early 2000s, making it seem like she's a major character in the show. But Ocarina only had two episodes that focus on her at that time.
* AmbiguousSituation: She resembles Rina-chan from the 1998 film "The Palm of the Hand to the Sun", but it's never stated if she is a different character from Ocarina or if she is the film version of that character. Not helping is that Rina only appeared in that movie and Ocarina never appeared in any of the films.
* LongBusTrip: After her second episode with Rollpanna, Ocarina vanished from the series until 2002 when she was in the crowd of the 2002 home video special "The Best 15 Characters", and later interacted with Currypanman in 2006. Then again in 2009 after her episode with Creampanda until she interacted with Horrorman. Then after Ocarina's interaction with Akachanman in 2015, she vanish for another 9 years until 2024 when she interacted with Melonpanna.
* MusicalThemeNaming: Ocarinas are wind instruments that are very popular in Japan.

An elderly mermaid who is also a witch. She lives at Uzumaki Castle and a relative to Princess Sunny in the 2000 film "The Tears of the Mermaid Princess".

After Princess Sunny talks to Uzumakiman about how can she be on land, he thinks the only one that can do something about the subject would be her relative Umimajo, which the Princess swims away to see what Umimajo can do. Umimajo shows Sunny a red starfish hair ornament that can be used to transform mermaids into humans, but she refuses to give it to her as it's cursed by a monster. Sunny decides to take the ornament regardless of what Umimajo warned her and gains legs after being swept away from the storm. Umimajo finds out about both Sunny and the red starfish missing, so she alongside Gorongoro goes out to see where Sunny had vanished to and warns her that she has to come back and take off her ornament before the curse of the monster comes back to cause trouble. Sunny refuses, so Umimajo and Gorongoro head off to tell what is going on. Baikinan overhears this and decides to see what this cursed monster is, which he finds is Gorongora from a previous adventure. Umimao and the rest of Uzumaki Castle find out that Gorongora was awakened with Baikinman being in control of the monster. She tries to defend the castle but gets turned into a starfish thanks to Gorongora, though she turns back after Princess Sunny and Anpanman stop Gorongora.
----
* AdaptationSpeciesChange: Umimajo is more mermaid-like in the film. But in the book adaptation, her skin is the same as her tale, making her more fish-like.
* AmbiguouslyRelated: She is related to Princess Sunny, but the translations make it hard to pin out if she's an aunt or grandmother.
* ForcedTransformation: She gets turned into a starfish thanks to Gorongora.
* OurMermaidsAreDifferent: She's a mermaid who is also a witch.
* PunnyName: Her name in Japanese is "Sea Witch".
* PurpleIsPowerful: Umimajo's color is purple and because she's one of the most powerful creatures in the sea as she does magic.
* RedHerring: First time viewers would think Umimajo would be the villain due to her being similar to the Hans Christian Andersen story "The Little Mermaid" and various adaptations depict the sea witch as a bad guy. But it turns out Umimajo isn't and is just concerned for Sunny's safety and doesn't want her to use the starfish as it's cursed.

! Princess Doremi/(ドレミひめ)
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/princessdoremi.png]]
-->'''Debut:''' Mysterious Naganegiman and Princess Doremi (''Movie''), Anpanman and the Star of Christmas (''Anime'')

The ruler and lead singer of both Do-Re-Mi-Fa Island and Do-Re-Mi-Fa Castle.

Due to her originally being a movie character and later part of the anime, she has two different backstories. In the movie short, she was going to have a concert at her castle, but Baikinman takes it over and both Anpanman and Naganegiman had to rescue her. In the anime, she was going to sing along with Miss Mimi's class for the annual Christmas concert.
----
* BreakoutCharacter: After her appearance in the 2003 film short, she was later added to the anime a year later and became a popular character afterward.
* CanonImmigrant: Doremi originally appeared in the 2003 film short, and later integrated in the anime canon the following year in the Christmas special. Oddly though, she didn't appear in the episodes until a few years later.
* TheFriendsWhoNeverHang: She hasn't interacted with Kokin-chan.
* MusicalThemeNaming: Her name comes from the first three musical notes.

! Princess Laura

The Princess of the Cloud-sailing Castle. Her job is to purify polluted air with the help of the castle machinery.
* AmbiguouslyGay: It's implied that there's something in the air between her and Rollpanna.
* AmbiguouslyHuman: She certainly ''looks'' human, but it's never clarified as to whether she is.
* ButNowIMustGo: [[spoiler: At the end of the movie, she leaves to purify the air somewhere else]].
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: Has blond hair, and is one of the nicest characters in the series.
* SamusIsAGirl: She's introduced wearing a mask, and her face is covered in bandages when that is removed. It's only when she removes the bandages that we see she's female.
* TomboyWithAGirlyStreak: She spends most of the movie wearing a tunic and trousers, but she's wearing a red dress [[spoiler: when she leaves]].

Much like Chocolateman, he is mostly seen during [[ValentinesDayEpisodes Valentine's Day]].
----
* AdvertisedExtra: He appears a lot in the show's eighth opening and is one of the characters on the official website, but Chocolatepanman only had two major episodes early in the show's run.

! Halloweenman/(ハロウィンマン)
[[quoteright:330:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/halloweenman.png]]
-->'''Debut:''' 106a

A pumpkin-headed ghost who represents the spirit of Halloween. A long time ago, there was a ghost wandering at Halloween who was very scared and used a carved pumpkin as a lantern. Said pumpkin was used as a form of the creation of Halloweenman who wanders around said holiday. When Baikinman and Dokinchan overheard the story of the legendary Halloweenman, they decided to use it to disguise themselves as a ghost to scare the trick-or-treaters to get their candy. Anpanman later encounters the real Halloweenman and figures out what is going on after he finds out that it was Baikinman and Dokinchan that was causing trouble for the children. They decided to pay out the villainous duo for what they were doing by playing a trick against them. Once Baikinman sees the real Halloweenman, he tries to fight against him, but after pulling his cape down, the floating pumpkin head starts following the villains with Anpanman warning them about their actions. After the two villains ran off, Anpanman and Halloweenman were able to give back the stolen candy and Halloween night was back to being fun.

He mainly shows up during [[HalloweenEpisode Halloween]], though he'll be spotted outside the holiday at times.
----
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Is one of the more, possibly ''most'', powerful human-sized characters in the show... And is also pretty chill.
* TheCape: Averted. It's clear from his every appearance that he has ''tremendous'' power at his disposal, and he ''does'' unambiguously uses it for good when he has to. However, all he really seems to want to do is chill and vibe at Halloween parties.
* DarkIsNotEvil: Despite being a ghost, he represents the fun side of Halloween and is very friendly. However, he ''is'' still a ghost and has startled characters unfamiliar with him.
* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: He comes off as a TrueNeutral specter in his first appearance, with his "wandering spirit" backstory played up more and accidentally scaring others. (In context, it's all somewhere between InnocentlyInsensitive and NoSocialSkills.) Later appearances show him as a little aloof, maybe a bit childlike, but treated as the BigGood of Halloween.
* FlyingFace: Halloweenman appears as literally just a floating jack-o'-lantern with a mantle underneath.
* GlowingEyesOfDoom: You don't want to mess with him if you see his eyes glow. Either because he's about to [[TurnsRed Turn Red]] or use his formidable telekinesis.
* {{Intangibility}}: Can do this at will.
* LongBusTrip: Halloweenman was very prominent during the first decade of the show, but after his interaction with Horrorman in 1997, he mainly only shows up as small cameos until another 7 years in 2004 when he interacted with Creampanda.
* LovecraftianSuperpower: His powerset, when he's sufficiently angered or merely inconvenienced enough to use them, is unusual amongst Good Anpanman characters in that it's straight NewPowersAsThePlotDemands ''supernatural magic''. His mantle is prehensile and can display images when he wants to communicate in a hurry, he can grow in size and [[TurnsRed Turn Red]], has manifested telekinesis and elemental powers for convenience, can casually and blindly dodge Rollpanna's ribbon attacks while flying, etc.
* OurGhostsAreDifferent: Unlike most ghosts - especially in a Japanese context - he's very kind and courteous. Also unlike most ghosts and, indeed, most Anpanman characters, he doesn't seem to have ''any'' weaknesses at all; the most anyone can do is distract or stall him.
** He's also unusual amongst Anpanman ghosts in that he's completely benign and generally doesn't play tricks. ...and the only one Baikinman will pretend to be - taking advantage of his reputation - instead of the other way around.
* PromotionToOpeningTitles: Since the third opening.
* TheSpeechless: He's one of the few characters that doesn't speak. Instead, he changes his expression, animated as a fade.
* StingyJack: His backstory is loosely based on the said folk tale, a wandering ghost that used a carved pumpkin as a lantern, with a bit of WillOTheWisp thrown in for good measure. (This is mostly only relevant in his first appearance, where he's treated as a legend or cryptid.)
** From his second appearance onwards, he's treated as a friendly, utterly powerful SpiritOfHalloween by other characters and the plot.
* TechnicalPacifist: Goes out of his way to avoid harming or hurting other characters, including Baikinman.
* TheStoic: Unusually for the show, he's completely unflappable and not played for laughs.
* ThrowTheDogABone: Towards the end of "Creampanda and Halloweenman", he gives Baikinman a costume replica of himself so he can have some fun at the Halloween party.
* WillfullyWeak: Avoids using more force than necessary. In a more specific example: he spends his first encounter with Rollpanna dodging her ribbon attacks, even though he's ''[[{{Intangibility}} a ghost]] and could NoSell them. He then later demonstrates that he could've [[BlowYouAway counterattacked]] at any time, by doing it to Baikinman.

-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/JunpeiTakiguchi (''Santa; original appearance -- 2011''), Creator/KatsujiMori (''Santa; 2014 -- present), Creator/KoichiYamadera (''Rudolph'')
-->'''Debut:''' 12

A jolly old man who travels on his sleigh with his trusty reindeer as they travel around the world delivering presents to everybody. They reside in the Valley of Christmas. They're seen only around Christmas.
----
* AdaptedOut: Unlike most interpretations of Santa Claus who normally has 8 reindeer, this Santa only has one, which is Rudolph.
* AdaptationalWimp: Unlike other versions of Rudolph, the Anpanman version doesn't have a shiny red nose and is just a regular flying reindeer.
* BadassSanta: While not a total badass, he often helps out with Anpanman.
%%* BlackbeadEyes: Santa.
* DecompositeCharacter: Rudolph in most depictions is the reindeer with the shiny red nose. But this was given to Chappie in the 2010 Christmas special.
* DemotedToExtra: Sadly, they haven't got that many speaking scenes or screen time in recent years, though it's possible it's due to Santa's original voice actor passing away. They would get more appearances once Katsuji Mori was recast as Santa.
* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: During the first couple of years in the show, the Christmas episodes were part of the actual show instead of being labeled as "Christmas special". The show would start this tradition in 1995, though the year after would place that Christmas special as part of the show's numbering.
* GrowsOnTrees: The presents he gives to the boys and girls grew from trees.
* {{Hammerspace}}: Despite the fact Santa's sack is small, he can still take as many presents as he likes from it. [[{{Justified}} Then again]], Santa's magical.
* HeIsAllGrownUp: Unlike most adaptions, Rudolph in this series is all grown up.
* OldFriend: He's pretty close friends with Uncle Jam.
* SirNotAppearingInThisTrailer: Despite appearing in every Christmas special since the show first aired (regardless if it's major or just a cameo), the duo never appeared in any of the show's openings. Compare to Halloweenman who despite only had 17 episodes was able to appear in the show's third and ninth openings.
* ThrowTheDogABone: Regardless of all the bad things Baikninman and Dokinchan did in the Christmas specials (and possibly what else they did before), he still gives them presents. Maybe he's just that generous to anyone.

A steam engine and one of the rail transportation characters. He mostly delivers goods and takes the children to different locations.

In his debut story, SL Man was a rusted steam engine who was trying to away from a fierce storm, but a bolt of lightning struck a tree on top of him, and was in a coma until Baikinman kidnapped the engine as he thought he wasn't sentient. SL-Man gets his full strength back after he eats some of Dokin-chan's fruit and wanted to repay the two villains, which Baikinman takes the opportunity to trick the locomotive into thinking Anpanman is the enemy. He tricks SL-Man into pushing the bakery off a cliff, but Anpanman convinces him that he's a good guy and stops Baikinman after being tricked.

----
* AmbiguouslyRelated: He and Poppo-chan are the only sentient trains in the series, but there's no indication or questioning that they're related prior to the two meeting each other in 1089a. It mostly implies that they're just seperate from other blood related.
%%* BewareTheNiceOnes
* BreakoutCharacter: Due to Japan's love of trains (especially steam locomotives), SL-Man became a popular character after his debut story he was brought back a few years later and appeared a lot since then.

* DistressCall: Whenever something bad happens, he sends an "SOS" through his smokestack.
* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: In his first episode, there were a lot of differences that weren't talked about SL-Man in his later episodes.
** He is depicted as a miniature gauge, similar to Poppo-chan. But later episodes changed his size to be an actual locomotive.
** He had a lever that could either turn or shut him off. If he's shut off, he'll be in a non-static form.
** He can retract his arms inside the boiler. Later episodes would show him with his arms fully exposed, though there is the odd occasion he'll lack arms (though this can be animation errors).
* HorribleJudgeOfCharacter: SL-Man trusted Baikinman into thinking Anpanman was the bad guy, though this is mainly due to them giving him food after getting him out of a stasis lock.
* JustTrainWrong: Despite taking place in a fantasy world, a real steam locomotive can't run without a coal tender. Also, they can't go underwater, as it would wash out the fire.
* MeaningfulName: The "SL" on his cab are initials for "Steam Locomotive".
* NiceGuy: After he reformed his ways in his debut story, SL-Man is very nice to almost anyone.
* PromotionToOpeningTitles: Ever since the third opening.
* SentientVehicle: He's a living train.
* SmokeOut: He produces black smoke from his smokestack to distract Baikinman.

-->'''Voiced by:''' Haruka Kudo
-->'''Debut:''' 854b

A baby train who is loved by everyone. Despite her small size, she can be strong at times.

In her debut story, Poppo-chan was on her way to meet Uncle Jam, but when Baikinman spotted her wandering at the forest, Dokin-chan thought that she looked cute and wanted Baikinman to get the small steam engine to play with. However, Baikinman had trouble catching her as she thought they were playing a game. Anpanman was able to stop him and showed the baby engine where Uncle Jam was. The kids and Cheese were happy to see her and play games with her, but that changed once Baikinman was trying to attack them. Poppo-chan was able to stall Baikinman off after she woke up and helped save the day once Anpanman got his new head to stop Baikinman. She continued playing with the children as she pulled with carriages behind her, alongside Baikinman and Dokinchan in disguises.

* BlushSticker: She has some pink blush to indicate her cuteness.
* BreakoutCharacter: Much like SL-Man, Poppo-chan started to appear after her initial story due to both Japan's love of trains (especially steam locomotives) and the fact that baby characters are popular in the series,

* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: There were a lot of differences that changed about Poppo-chan in her later episodes.
** In her early episodes, Poppo was able to speak a few words aside from "Poppo". But this was changed to simply her doing baby talk.
** Her first two episodes 854b and 881a never used her actual name and just referred to her as "Akachan-SL". It wasn't until her third episode with Miss Mimi that she is referred as Poppo-chan.
* JustTrainWrong: As stated, a steam engine can't run without a coal tender.
* MeaningfulName: While it's already stated what "SL" means, '''poppo''' is a Japanese term for the sound of a steam locomotive.
* PinkMeansFeminine: She's bright pink to indicate she's a girl.
* PintSizedPowerhouse: Despite her small size, she is very strong.
* PokemonSpeak: She mostly says "poppo".
* PromotionToOpeningTitles: She appeared in the eleventh opening 13 years after her initial debut.
* SentientVehicle: She's a living train, like Sl-Man.
* SirNotAppearingInThisTrailer: Despite appearing a few times after her initial appearance in the show, Poppo-chan never appeared in the show's ninth and tenth openings. Compare this to Kokin-chan, who despite only appearing in episodes prior to the show's revamp of the ninth opening, was promoted as a billing character in the show. Poppo-chan would later appear in the first episode's title card once the show transitioned to widescreen and would be seen on the show's eleventh opening.
* SmokeOut: Like Sl-Man, she produces steam through her smokestack and can use it to disappear.
%%* SteamNeverDies
* VagueAge: While Poppo-chan is clearly a baby, it's hard to determine what age she is between infancy and child. In her early episodes, she does say a few words aside from "poppo", making it sound like she's at least slightly older like Akachanman. But then later episodes regressed her mind to say "poppo" like Baby Donuts, making it hard to pin down her age.
* WalkingDisasterArea: One episode has her causing minor chaos at Baikinman's lair.

-->'''Voiced by:''' Eiko Yamada (''original''), Creator/AkemiOkamura (''current'')

A sentient biplane that travels around the world. Prior to meeting Anpanman, he was buried under a beach after his engine gave up. After calling for help when Anpanman and the bakery crew were at the beach, he was restored and was enjoying flying again. However, that was short-lived as he was showing off his flying moves towards Baikinman, who then took away his propeller after accidentally crashing into him.

He rescued Anpanman when he was attacked by Baikinman after he snagged his cape.
----
* AcePilot: Due to him being a bi-plane, Tsubasa-kun is an expert on flying.
* AdvertisedExtra: He is shown on the 2023 DVD cover "Anpanman and His Robot Friends", but he was only in one episode with Tin Kid.
* BigDamnHeroes: He comes in to stop Baikinman whenever someone's in trouble.
* ContrastingSequelMainCharacter: He serves as one to SL-Man (even though the former still appears a lot). They're both anthropomorphic vehicles that were stuck in their debut story and were brought back to life. The only differences are that 1; SL-Man was just frozen after a falling branch hit his lever during a storm at he start of the episode, while Tsubasa-kun was alive and was just buried in the sand prior to the start of the episode. 2; SL-Man was taken away by Baikinman when Anpanman was investigating the steam locomotive and Baikinman tricked the engine to attack Anpanman. Tsubasa-kun was rescued by Anpanman and the bakery crew and never had the same trust issues as the former.
* CoolPlane: He is a yellow sentient bi-plane.
* CoolTeacher: He's pretty good at teaching others on both how to build their own plane and how to become a good pilot.
* DependingOnTheArtist: He's normally seen with one cockpit. However, he'll have two if he carries more passengers.

-->'''Voiced by:''' Mitsuo Senda
-->'''Debut:''' 162b

A square-headed ogre that lives in Shikaku Mountain. He doesn't like anything that isn't a square or rectangle and would use his club to turn things into that shape.

Baikinman heard about this creature before and makes a disguise for both himself and Dokinchan to meet him and trick him into thinking that Anpanman is a bad guy because he has a round head, and agrees to defeat him. Shikaku Oni goes out turning round objects into squares until he encounters Anpanman and tries to attack him. Shoukpanman rescues Anpanman and just as Anpanman is restored, Shikaku Oni bangs at the Bakery door to confront Anpanman again, though with Shoukpanman having a square head and Dokinchan's obsession with him, Baikinman's plan was foil once it's revealed he isn't a square-headed person,, which Shikaku Oni gets upset and tries to attack, but Baikinman knocks over the ogre and deflects Anpanman and Shoukpanman's punch. Baikinman was about to attack them with a laser, but because Shikaku Oni turned his UFO into squares including the attendees, the lasers instead destroyed it, causing Baikinman to fly off. Shikaku Oni apologizes for what he did, and while he would still hate things that round, he won't be against Anpanman. He runs off back to his mountain before he can cause any more damage.
----
* AmbiguousSituation: It's debatable if Shikaku Oni is classified as a holiday character. His episodes with Sankakuman, Creampanda, and Horrorman take place during Setsubun (A Japanese holiday that takes place in the first week of February on getting rid of evil demons), but his first and fifth episodes are not associated with the holiday (his debut story aired on December, while the latter aired on January).
* AmbiguouslyEvil: Due to his nature, it's unknown that Shikaku Oni is evil due to him being misguided by Baikinman a few times. Even then, when he interacted with Omusubiman the second time, Shikaku Oni attacked him due to his bag of round fruit. The only time where he wasn't malicious was his interaction with Creampanda as the two were having fun playing games.
* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: His early episodes have him gaining spots on his face when he gets angry (ironic as he hates circles), but this vanished after the transition to digital ink.
* MountainMan: Shikaku Oni lives in Shikaku Mountain.
* LongBusTrip: After his interaction with Sankakuman, Shikaku Oni vanished for almost 9 years until 2002 when he interacted with Creampanda, then vanished for another 5 years until his interaction with Horrorman in 2007, and again for another 6 years with his second interaction with Omusubiman in 2013 and hasn't seen since. Not helping that his actor Mitsuo Senda passed away in 2023.
* PrimitiveClubs: Shikaku Oni's main weapon is a spiked club that turns objects into squares and rectangles
* ReusedCharacterDesign: His head is reused from Baikinman in Tsumikiman's debut story when the villian got his head turned into a cube from the block man.

But Sancho is afraid that his master will hurt himself as he doesn't know if Hotate can defeat Baikinman. So Anpanman decides to pretend he's Baikinman to help Hotate from harming himself. However, that didn't work as the real Baikinman was able to defeat Anpanman.

** When Baikinman revisited his memory when he and Anpanman met as babies, baby Baikinman bumped into his older self as he was punched by Anpanman.
** In episode 759b, Dokinchan revisited her memories of when she first fell in love with Shokupanman and after freeing him, Past Dokinchan hid behind the bushes and revealed she bonked herself on a tree. 1994** Episode 838b has Anpanman, Melonpanna, and Creampanda seeing how Rollpanna was created. Anpanman finds him and helps put his truck back up and get him out of the buried blocks. Tsumikiman tells the Bakery that he wants to build a park with his building blocks, and they decide to help him out. Baikinman decides to ruin the fun by destroying Tsumikiman's castle and he gets so mad that he transforms into a train to chase after him, but Baikinman knocks him out that he caught Tsumikiman's heart. Tsumikiman begs him to return it back, but Baikinman has other ideas kidnapping him painting his heart with black paint, and turning Tsumikiman into a mindless weapon to destroy Anpanman. Just as Baikinman is about to kill Anpanman after Tsumikiman runs him over as a tank, Tsumikiman comes back to life after his heart is washed away of the black paint and traps Baikinman so Anpanman can punch him out.
