! Main Characters

[[folder: Peter Stone]]
A Iraq war veteran who, after the death of his brother, became the Bloodsworn of Thoth then eventually his creation. He has since gotten himself exiled from New Detroit and is now forced to work in a conveinance store. [[spoiler: Later, he becomes bellidix of New Detroit.]]
----

* BadassAbnormal: Was a Badass even before he became a vampire and is tougher than most of their kind.
* ButtMonkey: Just barely avoids being a Cosmic Chew Toy.
* TheBrute: Is generally viewed as this by other vampires depsite the fact he's more of a GentleGiant.
* CosmicPlaything: Just about everything in his life seems designed to be one long struggle [[spoiler: until he turns it all around at the end of the first book.]]
* DaddyIssues: A fairly mild case of them. His father abandoned his family but Thoth effectively stepped in to fulfill the role (bringing in a whole new set of them).
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Grew up in a very rough neighborhood, tried to get out through the army, killed his commanding officer in the Iraq War, and then became a vampire.
* DarkIsNotEvil: Is one of the more amiable vampires in the setting. Indeed, he tends to zig-zag between KnightInSourArmor and NiceGuy.
* TheDeterminator: Peter goes through an endless amount of crap but keeps going no matter what.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: Sitting behind a counter trying to serve a racist woman impatient for her Slurpee and wondering how the hell he got to this point.
* FirstPersonSmartass: Is this from beginning to end.
* GenreSavvy: Tends to use vampire media to deal with the world around him, which other vampires find quite queer.
* KnightInSourArmor: Constantly grouses about everything he has to do for people but does it anyway.
* OnlySaneMan: Peter is one of the few vampires who, still, fundamentally thinks like a human being.
* TheLostLenore: His brother's death effects him this way.
* ShellShockedVeteran: A DownplayedTrope example even though he often thinks of the men he killed while alive.
* ScaryBlackMan: Apparently looks like one, which is ironic given he's the nicest vampire there is.
* SnarkToSnarkCombat: Has this with just about everyone he meets who can keep up with him.
* SuperLoser: Peter is a vampire who literally does work in a convenience store outside of New Detroit. He is not particularly sex, cool, or rich despite this being very common among vampires. No, it turns out that it is only common among ''old'' vampires who are willing to kill or abuse their powers to become rich in the first place. Sadly, Peter is of the FriendlyNeighborhoodVampire sort (unless you piss him off).
* TookALevelInBadass: Gains quite a bit of power [[spoiler: When he kills Renaud and absorbs his strength.]]
* TokenHeroicOrc: Is probably the only vampire who isn't a scheming Machiavellian asshole and that includes his ReasonableAuthorityFigure creator.
* UnabashedBMovieFan: Is a mountainous source of vampire film trivia, which other vampires find to be quite bizarre.
* VegetarianVampire: Attempts this for years [[spoiler: after being kept in a basement until he was starving by the bellidix--who promptly shoved a little girl in there]]. He finally gives up during the events of the first book.
* WhatKindOfLamePowerIsHeartAnyway: Possesses numerous "quirky" but not particularly useful-seeming abilities like floating, talking to animals, and [[spoiler: later, time manipulation]] which he puts to good use against much more powerful vampires.

[[folder: David Treme]]

Peter's best friend and co-worker who accompanies him on the majority of his mission. Technically, he's Peter's servant but doesn't seem to acknowledge this fact.
----

* {{Expy}}: Seems to have a lot in common with Randal from ''Film/{{Clerks}}.''
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Pretty much is a source of nonstop sardonicism but has Peter's back.
* TheLoad: Many characters question why David puts up with him.
* MotorMouth: Nothing Peter does can get him to shut up.
* NonActionGuy: Has no fighting skills whatsoever. [[spoiler: That may change now that he's a zombie.]]
* TheRenfield: Is supposed to be this to Peter but doesn't behave in any way which would indicate he's Peter's inferior.
* AndThenJohnWasAZombie: [[spoiler: David becomes a zombie after being killed by Renaud. He views this as a positive development.]]
* VampireVannabe: Pesters Peter constantly about making him a vampire despite the fact he's only been his servant for a few months. Peter had to serve four years before Thoth would make him (who views Peter like a son).
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Thoth]]
A former slave turned vampire magician, he is the second most powerful vampire in New Detroit and Peter's creator.
----

* TheAce: Handsome, rich, an amazing lover, a magician, and a badass.
** AlwaysSomeoneBetter: Peter is really annoyed by these qualities.
* BadassAbnormal: Is an amazing rifleman and can headshot humans or vampires with ease.
* BerserkButton: He throws aside all rationality when Peter is in danger.
* BornIntoSlavery: Was born in Haiti and participated in the revolt which freed the island.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Murdered his family when his creator made him do it as a lesson in letting go of the past.
* TheGunslinger: Is said to have been one of these during the Wild West.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: Painting a cubist portrait of two naked vampire women in his luxury penthouse while surrounded by the remains of an orgy of A-list actors and models. Even Peter is nonplussed by the excess of it all.
* EvilSorcerer: For some definitions of evil but definitely the sorcerer.
* FictionFiveHundred: Is one of the richest vampires in the world and vampires are the richest people in the world.
* HeroOfAnotherStory: Apparently did a lot of amazing urban fantasy protagonist things in his youth, which is part of the joke.
* HiddenDepths: A reversal as one of his daytime hobbies is being a fairly serious video game enthusiast.
* IHateYouVampireDad: Not with his creations but his own sire, Doubye, who he killed.
* ILoveYouVampireSon: Considers Peter his ReplacementGoldfish for his dead son as well as an actual one. He's also lovers with his other creation, Fatimah.
* LivingForeverIsAwesome: Has this view of vampirism. It's one long party in-between learning all the secrets of the universe.
* ManOfWealthAndTaste: He's a painter, art collector, and billionaire.
* MonsterLord: Which comes with being an Old One.
* {{Necromancer}}: Is stated to be a very potent one of these. [[spoiler: Which is why he can raise David as a zombie.]]
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Is said to be one of the most reasonable in the entire Vampire Nation, which often gets him into trouble.
* TheScrooge: A lesser example but Peter is forced to work at a convenience store when Thoth is a billionaire. This is because Thoth thinks it'll build character.
* ShroudedInMyth: Even other vampires talk about his exploits with a bit of awe.
* TookALevelInBadass: [[spoiler: Peter shared half of Renaud's power with him.]]
* VampiresOwnNightclubs: Thoth owns his own casino.
* VampiresAreRich: Thoth most of downtown New Detroit and many other holdings abroad.
* VampiresAreSexGods: The fact ''other vampires'' consider him one of these is telling.
* YoungerThanTheyLook: An odd example in that Thoth is far more powerful, influential, and educated than the majority of vampires his age. He's 'only' 227 years old but is able to run with vampires much-much older.
