The Cordyceps deem the merged entity/entities too harmless and call for their immediate destruction, rather than allowing such a taint to spread. Of course, the destruction isn't accomplished until the older Cordyceps colony are also brought into contact with the mind meld, which makes them develop the capacity for love as we know it. They regret their role in the destruction of this child colony, but they don't entirely comprehend the regret.
27	* OurMermaidsAreDifferent: The Cordyceps' host has an entirely human body structure in terms of arms and legs, but her skin is blue and translucent, almost jellyfish-like. Her teeth are numerous, sharp and loosely rooted, her blood is clear, and she is apparently instinctively compelled to drown and eat sexual partners (although it's possible the Cordyceps just said that to stop people from trying to trick them into prostitution).
