When Doakes questions this, Dexter gets into his face and says "I own you" and headbutts him in the face, leaving his office to let Doakes chase him down and make a scene in the middle of the station. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l2OEmZFRxvA Watch it here.]]
* Lundy realizing a letter from the serial killer has been fabricated to provide all sorts of false leads, and quickly deducing the perpetrator is so savvy that he has to be one of their own: "Law enforcement"

* Dexter overpowering Doakes while handcuffed, in the water, with a wounded leg.
* In the season finale, Lila kidnaps Astor and Cody so once Dexter shows up to take them home she can kill them and Dexter by burning the place down. Through some quick thinking he gets Astor and Cody out after breaking the window which he can't escape through because it's too small for him, so he tries to break the chain on the door and fails, as he lies on the ground he has a flashback to the trip with Harry he had about his urge to kill as a child. Dexter then notices part of the wall that's burnt so much it's just the inner wall and he grabs a blanket and repeatedly slams against it with all of his strength and at the third attempt (By this time, the blanket's caught on fire and Dexter is feeling pain from the heat and from his slamming against the wall), he manages to slam through and thankfully Debra arrives just in time to put the fire on him out.

* Season 3 BigBad Miguel Prado gets one when he's not even present: Dexter discovers the supposedly incriminating blood-soaked shirt Miguel gave him as a sign of trust only contains cow blood, indicating that everything that's happened so far has been an EvilPlan by him.
** He has another one a few episodes earlier, where he orchestrates the death of an Aryan Brotherhood gang leader and monster that Dexter had been unable to get at for years.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Season Five]]
* In the season five premiere, Dexter knowingly takes an innocent life for the first time. Yet we still cheer him on since the guy was still a gigantic {{Jerkass}} who'd just viciously insulted Rita.
** The thing about this kill was that it was ''entirely'' motivated by human emotion, Dexter's incredible grief and pain at losing Rita. So in twisted way, despite committing a brutal murder, it was Dexter being more human than he'd ever been.
* In "Teenage Wasteland", Debra's WhatTheHellHero to [=LaGuerta=], getting her to reopen the Barrel Girls case.
-->'''Debra:''' There are five dead girls in barrels. And now there's DNA evidence saying that some of the people responsible are still out there. And you think that's about me trying to get back at you? Did you even read the file? There's fucking proof!
-->'''[=LaGuerta=]:''' Just watch your tone.
-->'''Debra:''' You know, you throwing me under the bus for the Fuentes brothers, using your husband as a chess piece, putting Quinn on bogus vacation days so I don't have a fucking partner? If that's all just some game to you, I'll try to understand it. But those girls are dead. Don't you want to make sure that that doesn't happen again? I mean, what the fuck are we doing here?
* Dexter's BadassBoast to the season's main BigBad.
-->'''Dexter:''' You know, I'm glad you didn't touch them.
-->'''Chase:''' Really? Why's that?
-->'''Dexter:''' Because, this will clear you of being suspected, and leave you to me. And to her. Tick tick tick, your time's up.

** What truly makes it is Chase's OhCrap beforehand as he realizes one of the knives is missing.
* Dexter beating the crap out of Olivia's step dad for hitting her in secret. Even Harry thought it was awesome.
** Made so much more awesome by how calm he remains throughout:
--> By the way, that's your kidney.
** And as Dexter hits the man in the same way he was hitting his daughter, he explains, in clear, precise, clinical fashion, exactly what the blows are doing to his body, organs, and nervous system, narrating what the man himself is going through and what he's put his daughter through, "just so the bruises wouldn't show."
