''Mega Man: Upon A Star'' is the collective name given to three ''VideoGame/MegaManClassic'' [=OVAs=] by Creator/AshiProductions. They were dubbed by Creator/TheOceanGroup, who would later work with the ''WesternAnimation/MegaManRubySpears'' cartoon; the OVA had influence on the production of the show.

As for the [=OVAs=] themselves, they were created to teach kids about Japan.

The first OVA is called ''Appearance in Japan''. One day while playing ''VideoGame/MegaMan5'', Yuuta Kobayashi is forced to pause the game and go to bed. Dr. Wily takes advantage of this opportunity to escape the TV and wreak havoc on the world, or at least Tokyo. Mega Man travels with Rush, Yuuta and his sister Akane to stop Wily, and in the process, learn about Japanese culture.

The second OVA, ''Wishing Upon A Star'', has Wily escape the game world yet again. This time Mega Man is joined by Proto Man, Roll, Dr. Light, and Beat, as they learn about Japanese holidays, such as Setsubun, and stop Wily from using a meteor shower to destroy Japan.

The third OVA, ''Future Beware'', has Wily creating a BadFuture due to robots that can cause natural disasters. Again, Mega Man must stop his plans, traveling through time to see when the disasters happened and how to stop them.

----
!!These [=OVAs=] provide examples of:

* BadFuture: Wily creates one in the third special.
* BrickJoke: The Shichi-Go-San reference during the Bon Omatsuri in "Future Beware" seems to just be a passing comment at first. Then when Roll's almost knocked out by the tsunami later on, she mentions to Mega Man that next month is Shichi-Go-San and she wants to wear a kimono. Mega Man's response? "I heard you made a promise with Akane." And she actually ''does'' wear a kimono! But... how did Mega Man hear the promise if he and Yuuta were carrying the omikoshi?
* CheerfulChild:
** Roll, as voiced by Creator/AndreaLibman.
** Akane.
* ChristmasEpisode: The end of episode 3.
* DemotedToExtra: The Robot Masters, who are generally only seen when Yuuta is playing the game.
* {{Edutainment}}: They were made to teach kids about Japan.
* FestivalEpisode: In episode 2, we have Japanese holidays, and in episode 3, we have the Obon festival.
* FloatingContinent: Dr. Wily has one in the third episode.
* GenderInvertedTrope: Yuuta, a boy, leads the cheering squad during the Sports Day walking race in "Future Beware." Akane, a girl, runs in the race and gets first place. Commonly, a boy would run and a girl would cheer.
* HumongousMecha: Several have appeared. Samurai Man, the giant Oni Robot, and the Typhoon Robot to name a few.
* McNinja: Dr. Wily, as seen [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZiSaOHlUdk here]].
* NewYearHasCome: The beginning of episode 2 has Mega Man come to the real world on Omisoka (New Years Eve). He stays up until Shogatsu (New Years Day) and learns about otoshidama, money given to children on the holiday.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: Episode 3, "Future Beware," has Wily create a BadFuture and plot sending the worst tsunami known to mankind to hit Japan. All because Yuuta and Akane wanted to take Mega Man and Roll to the Bon Omatsuri.
* OriginalCharacter: All of Wily's major robots.
** Yuuta and Akane, as well.
* RefugeeFromTVLand: The game characters.
* StayInTheKitchen: Roll appears wearing battle armor in the third OVA, but Megaman and Protoman attempt to convince her otherwise. It's then lost as she enters the real world to go to Obon and is never brought up again.
* SubbingForSanta: Wily is made to do this in the third OVA.
* TalkingAnimal: Rush and Beat, though only in the first OVA.
* TokyoIsTheCenterOfTheUniverse: Wily only ever sets his sights on Japan and never seems to attack any of the other countries.
* UnfazedEveryman: During the end of the Bon Hanabi show in "Future Beware," Dr. Wily appears in the sky threatening the citizens of Japan. Only Mega Man, Yuuta, Roll, and Akane take notice. And then they run home at the speed of light, WITHOUT THEIR PARENTS, and the crowd doesn't care.
* UnusuallyUninterestingSight: Neither of Yuuta and Akane's parents seem to react very strongly to the fact that Mega Man and Rush very suddenly appeared in their children's room.
* VerySpecialEpisode: "Appearance of Japan" would've been one of the ''WesternAnimation/MegaManRubySpears'' show if Ruby-Spears didn't change the look.
