Some additional info that may narrow it down: All 5 were included in a burned cd I recieved as part of a mix exchange the early 00's - of the songs I was familiar with on the same cd, the most recent ones were from 2002, so none of this should be anything much newer than that. The fifth track was a 7-minute post-rock-ish instrumental. The sender was from Texas I believe, and some of these may have been local acts.

[[folder:Awaiting suggestions]]
* A video clip I remember from a long time (10 years +) ago, set in a hangar with a large aeroplane slowly taxiing behind the band. From what I remember the music was similar to Back in the USSR by TheBeatles, but I have never been able to find it.
* Name of this [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5AmiqwYC1No jazz tune]] if there is one.
* A song I heard on the radio. The music sounded very much like a song by The Corrs ("I Never Loved You Anyway", to be specific) and it emphasized the guitar (which sounded quite like the guitar from the 'seeing as you're still here' part of 'Bad Body Double' by ImogenHeap). The singer was a woman. The only line I can remember sounded something like 'Gave me a reason to tell you' and it was a love song that repeated the word 'love' quite a bit.
* A music video I saw years ago (when I was about the ages of four-five), which I believe was running on the christian music channel (the one for teens). The singer of the video had orange hair/beard and at certain points of the song, he was some-what screaming. The video then flashed to a pretty blond girl trapped in a huge fish-tank and she was banging on the window, trying to get out. I also remember an old African-American man who was dancing with his cane while the girl was trying to get out of the fish-tank. I also believe the old man was teasing the girl by tapping on the glass. Then at the end of the video, the girl manages to get out by breaking the glass with her bare hands. Hopefully someone knows what the song is because I've been trying to figure it out for years with no luck. Thanks!
* Some Asian (95% sure it's Korean) female singer who uses a little girl as her representative in all her music videos. And they're creepy.
* What's the song [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGTwrrULcaM here]], who's it by, and where can I find lyrics?
* I remember hearing this J-Pop song used in a Megaman AMV about five years ago. The AMV has long since been taken down, and I haven't heard that song since. I think the song was called "Wonderful World". The thing is, the maker of the AMV didn't actually put who did the song in the credits. I want to hear it again at least once, but every search I've made has brought me to the ''other'' "Wonderful World" song...
** Just a thought, but you could try using Google to search last.fm with these terms: '"wonderful world" -what-a site:last.fm' and optionally choose to search only Japanese pages. So far I've come up with songs by Yuzu, Kanjani8, and more.. good luck, it's a pretty popular title.
* I've always wondered what the song is in [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53o6pcUynWI this video]]. The ending credits say it's from Meat Beat Manifesto, but I've searched every song from them I can and haven't found it yet.
* [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cu6h4ZhRAH0 what's the song from 1:03 to 1:11?]]
* Anyone know the name of the song played in the backgorund during the fight scenes in the ''WesternAnimation/TeenTitans'' episode "Winner Takes All"? One way to see it can be found [[http://www.dbz-zone.org/teen_titans/teen_titans_22.php here]]. (Warning- it's Megavideo). Is it something that they just made up for the show? Or was it out before? It's got this really cool techno beat....
* A music video I caught one morning on mtv2 and didn't catch the name of: The song was uptempo melodic rock, but I really remember more about how weird the video was: It primarily consisted of a guy dressed up as MickeyMouse and a girl in a blue dress (who was either supposed to be Cinderella or just a generic DisneyPrincess) in an urban setting chasing and attacking people. The Mickey was pretty much a guy in a black unitard and red shorts with a hat with ears on it, presumably that's ''just'' [[LawyerFriendlyCameo different enough to have not raised the ire of Disney]].
* Any of the songs [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R575RUPd9ys excerpted in this video]].
* A folkish song, but not by a folk group, IIRC. Didn't sound traditional It was from the POV of a young, idealistic soldier, in what felt like 19th century but could've been 18th or 20th. His unit stopped overnight at a house on the road, and he fell in love with a girl. Before they left, his veteran comrades raped her (and may have killed her, I don't remember), introducing him to the horrors that jaded soldiers can sink to.
* [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=720Ex-J_kFc&feature=related This]]. It's obviously featured in {{Freespace 2}}, but I also heard this in an episode of ''CourageTheCowardlyDog', which makes me believe it originates elsewhere. I also remember a version where the chorus is song by male voices at a much lower key.
* [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cfsozqPbzBc# t=0m05s Whatever song]] this thing I made is modeled after.
* A StopAnimation music video, possibly {{Bollywood}}, that depicts these characters flying on a magic carpet. It looks like those stop animation Christmas movies you always see in ABC Family each year.
* Probably an InstrumentalThemeTune from a movie. It had a soaring melody, strictly minor key harmonies, and was in 3/4 or 12/8 time (or similar, but definitely not CommonTime).
** Can you narrow it down a little? "Could be anything" would be an understatement.
** Yes -- it sounded as if "Alaura's Theme" from ''CityOfAngels'' could be TheJimmyHartVersion of it.
* A techno-ish song that was essentially a proto StupidStatementDanceMix, based around what I'd guess was originally some kind of infomercial/corporate training tape for a company selling meat. Samples of the announcers/actors were manipulated into saying things like "Pig meat, human meat, what's the difference?"
* This is going to drive me crazy. I had a set of cds I used to listen to all the time when I was a kid. I know it had something to do with a fire house because they were red and it had a dalmation wearing a hat on the front. There were at least four cd/tapes. The only song I can remember being on there is that "Oh where, oh where, has my little dog gone?" one. This would have been made sometime in the early nineties or late eighties, I think.
** Was it "My Little Red Fire Truck"?
** I don't remember exactly what it was called, but when I was a little kid I had these tapes that were spun-off from the animated 101 Dalmatians. They included that song, as well as a version of Bingo Was His Name-O that spelled Pongo instead.
* [[http://arrow.rangerwiki.com/ffen/Quenlin%20Theme.mid This song.]] It's used as the theme song for a major antagonist in a ''FinalFantasy'' fangame entitled "Endless Nova"; as you could probably infer from the filename, said antagonist is named Quenlin. 95% of the songs in this fangame's soundtrack come from other video games (generally [=RPGs=]) while most of the remaining 5% come from anime, so it's my assumption that this is a song from some random video game or anime I've never played/seen and thus can't recognize. However, two tracks from this game were original pieces, so I can't be certain.
* There's a song I heard once at a military awards ceremony...it was about a young American soldier, either 17 or 19, who was taken prisoner (in WWII, I think). The chorus was about the tiny flag he kept hidden, and how he said the pledge of allegience. I don't remember if he survived. Anyone know what it's called? I can't remember any lyrics to google.
* [[{{this-guy}} I]] know a song of which I can remember the melody, but not the lyrics. It might have been Britpop, maybe Blur or Oasis. I'm not that good at sheet music, but it was something like [[http://img684.imageshack.us/img684/5168/picture4xt.png these bars]].
* [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bRIa3E6uRJw what is the song from 2:36 to 3:10?]]
* I once heard a song on Performance Today that was an old sailor's pub tune. It had a lot of syncopation, and the percussion was the performer's shoes stomping on the floor. Anyone know what it could be?
* I was linked once to a music video on youtube with very heavy SoundtrackDissonance and/or LyricalDissonance about a guy becoming a {{Unperson}} with a well happy tune, anyone know this video?
* I heard a song on the Rochester University radio station several years ago late at night. I'm pretty sure the show was called "Crazeology" after the Charlie Parker song. I'm also pretty sure that the song was called something like "Four Letter Words" and that the band might have been called "The Erector Set". I think the DJ said that they were from the Boston area, but I'm not sure. Anyone know what I'm talking about?
* One for Australian tropers of a certain age. Around '98 or '99 there was this single that got some airplay on Triple J. I think it was pretty short, and sounded much like one of late period Faith No More's heavier songs. It could've been FNM for all I know. The main (and possibly only) riff went in an alternating ascending/descending pattern of C-F-A-E-F-lower C. Same kind of pace as 'Digging The Grave'. That's pretty much all I remember.

[[folder:Questions with suggested answers]]
* Does anyone know the theme playing in the background of [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9gekvgUQu6k&feature=related this video]]. Mind the visuals, it's another [[NightmareFuel Ranranru edit]].
** It's one of the countless remixes of "U.N. Owen Was Her?", the theme song for Flandre Scarlet of the TouhouProject game series, distorted for this specific video. (Addendum: The only reason I'm not putting this on the "confirmed" page is that I can't yet determine ''which'' of the oh-so-many remixes it is...)
* [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WL5AVz4rOag what's the song here?]]
** Dunno, but apparently it's searchable on youtube's [[http://www.youtube.com/audioswap_main audioswap]]. Try "heaven on earth".
* I listened to Ravel's Bolero recently, and I swear I remember hearing a version of it with words, potentially from a musical. I don't really remember anything else...any clue?
** [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-L6rEm0rnY Memory]] perhaps?
* What's the song in the background [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8mB6K_B9Yo&feature=player_embedded here]]? The creator says it was from Internet radio.
** If it helps, the internet radio is on [[http://www.di.fm this website]]. I can also tell you it's not dubstep, ambient, hardstyle, space music, nor gabber. Sorry I can't help you anymore, but I don't listen to that style of music. I suggest giving each station a week each. The songs there tend to circulate.
** That would be [[http://www.zshare.net/audio/80413948bcb16c05/ Michael Mansion - Lift me Up (Nu Foundation Remix)]] from the album Hardcore Underground 3.
* There's this popular piece of music that's an instrumental and involves pan flutes. I think it may be the theme from a movie or TV show. Any ideas?
** [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1qsgBF7ZIsk The Lonely Shepherd]] - used in ''KillBill''
** [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hj40Cy3y15c Doina Lui Petru Unc]] or [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9FCbMAfD52g Doina: Sus Pe Culmea Dealului]] - both used in ''PicnicAtHangingRock''
*** No, it was more upbeat than those. I'm not sure if the original had a pan flute, but the version I heard did.
* There was a music video I saw only once a few years ago. I can't remember the song at all I just know a man with dark hair was singing it. In the video he's walking around this town and it's flooding. The water is very cartoonish, and I can't remember if it was just rain or tears. He's walking around like nothing is happening but there are people in canoes rowing down the street.
** Probably not it, but [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3eUSsbd9924 Creed - My Sacrifice]] has the dark-haired singer and the canoes rowing down city streets.
* [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YI6kERtM-aA what's the song at 10:47 to the end?]]
** The song is "[[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M_LQ4_MhDu4 Patches]]" by Clarence Carter.
* [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XgMt58jjvWU whats the song here?]] I have a hunch It might be from Aero the Acro bat
** The song is called [[ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxDpdfzwuD4 The Penis (eek)]]
* The film ''Arsenic and Old Lace'' contains a song, instrumental on the opening credits that is then sung by the old ladies later in the movie. The lyrics can't be heard well, though, because they're in the next room and there's dialogue over the song. The melody is the same as Slade's 1980s hit, "Run Run Away." What was the song originally?
** It's the hymn "There is a Happy Land". Words by Andrew Young, tune by Leonard P. Breedlove.
* A pretty poppish female song. The end of the chorus sounds that she's saying something like "Yeah, put your money where your mouth is. I don't wanna shy away, I wanna wake up next to you." I've tried googling the lyrics, no success.
** There's a song by Katy Perry called Waking Up in Vegas. In the chorus she says "Shut up and put your money where your mouth is, that's what you get for waking up in Vegas". Is that it?
* [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T_uTs1xjm3Y what's the song from 0:19 to 0:35?]]
** If Drinkin' Don't Kill Me (Her Memory Will) by George Jones.
* I recently heard a song on my friend's computer about a guy who dies, goes to Hell, and it turns out to be France. Does anyone know what it's called and who it's by? (Provide link please)
** Could it be the song from [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CupN28y-K24 this youtube video?]] Starts around 6 minutes in.
* [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_RNc8AxvBw what's the song from 1:07 to 1:11?]]
** That would be [[CrowningMusicOfAwesome Polyrhyth]][[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PCMgANE62CI m]], a song in RhythmHeaven
* This Troper hears several songs on a daily basis at work (Some he's still trying to pick apart), but he's heard an acoustic version of "Yellow Taxi Cab" where the female singer ends with a deep-pitched voice, then laughs. Can someone please identify the singer?
** Joni Mitchell, the original performer, would often end her performances of [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZgMEPk6fvpg Big Yellow Taxi]] this way.
*** Sounds close, but the one this Troper heard was sounded like a more recent version, like it may have been covered.
*** Amy Grant had a cover of Big Yellow Taxi that got a lot of airplay a few decades ago.
**** Still not it. The singer sounded a lot younger than either woman.
***** Hmm...still might be Joni. The original version of that song does end exactly the way you described, and she was pretty young when she cut it.
* This Troper loves a song that has no lyrics, is mainly pedal steel guitar, sounds vaguely Hawai'ian, and may have come out in the 1960s. This Troper cannot put a name to that song.
** [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogxTQXAgY3Q "Sleepwalk" by Santo And Johnny]] perhaps?
* I'm trying to find a song I heard in a store once that stayed on my mind. It sounded like something newer but it could've been older. It was very techno-sounding with somewhat difficult-to-understand lyrics. The most I can remember is something along the lines of "Be careful with your thoughts. Be careful what you wish for." and something about "electro-magnet energy". I believe it was a female singing that part as well.
** [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vdo3Wo0co7c "Frequency" by Janice Grace.]]
* This troper recalls hearing a song on the radio that went "You better find a way, before it gets too late" or something like that. Had a female singer and an 80's pop style like the Go-Go's. Searched for lyrics everywhere but no luck. Is this a song by a really obscure band or local band?
** Could this be Breakout by Swing Out Sister?
* A song that begins with the scat "Alalalalalohm/Alalalala/Lohm-lohm-li-lohm lohm lohm."
** I suppose you mean [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4kfTuNdku3A Inner Circle - Sweat]].
* There was a song in the film ''The American Friend." The painter in New York (a minor character) sings one line: "God knows I've been doing some low down traveling." I've wondered ever since I saw it (several years ago) what the song was. My father said it sounded familiar, but the Internet has nothing.
** It's not exactly the same phrasing, but the line reminds me of the song "[[http://74.125.93.104/search?q=cache:lyricwiki.org/The_Limeliters:Hard_Travelin%27/Mount_Zion Hard Travelin'/Mount Zion]]"?
* This is going to be tough. I used to sing this song all the time when I was little but I completely forgot about it! It was probably from around 2002-2005. I used to hear it all the time. The singer was a girl, and it mentioned a city in the chorus, probably New York. She was singing about rocking out, I think. She sounded like a rebel.
** Sounds exactly like Sk8er Boi by Avril Lavigne except for the part about New York.
* Okay, kind of a bizarre one, but it was a song I found on my old computer once. It began with a pulsing sort of rythm like something that would be during a war scene in a fantasy movie, and this first part had lyrics that were very hard to understand because they were spoken in a synthesized, low, gutteral voice that kept shouting something that sounded like "blood war". Then the voice goes "what kind of music was he listening to, anyway?" and the tune abruptly changes to fast-paced techno. I have no idea where this song comes from or what it's called.
** "Bloodwar" by Jess D. Skov-Nielsen (a.k.a. Razmo), winner of some Creative-sponsored MIDI/Soundfont contenst. Kinda hard to find a proper version, since the original is two files (a MID and an SF2) but I uploaded an MP3 render [[http://www.mediafire.com/?kf444n5f4xp7phs here]]. The exact speech sample says "They're gonna give him the rope if he don't pay the music - well, actually they won't give him the rope; they'll put it around his neck - except he's got no neck, so they might have to just give him the rope instead - what kind of music was he listening to, anyway?" No idea where it is from.
