* ''WesternAnimation/AngelWars'': In his backstory, Paladin was expecting to get punished for his role in [[spoiler: shattering Caliburn]] when he goes to ArchangelMichael after his fleet got out of trouble. Fortunately for him, this version of Michael is a ReasonableAuthorityFigure who gives him a brief speech about how failure is sometimes inevitable, but the important thing is how you respond to it. [[spoiler: Paladin then earns his wings, but he should've seen this coming from how he'd ''just saved his whole fleet'', really.]]

* ''WesternAnimation/TheAvengersUnitedTheyStand'' ended the episode "Comes a Swordsman" on a rather disturbing note by having Taurus punish the Swordsman for his failure by ordering his minions to tear him into twelve pieces.
* Black Mask from ''WesternAnimation/TheBatman'' killed his NumberOne and told a random Mook [[MookPromotion "You! You're my new Number One."]] The first just because Black Mask was pissed wanted to shoot someone, the second questioned if an anti-gravity spray worked and was made a test subject.
* ''WesternAnimation/BatmanBeyond'': A Society of Assassins member who fails to kill the target [[ContractOnTheHitman becomes the Society's next target]]. This backfires when Curaré, after failing to complete a job, destroys the rest of the group in self-defense.
* In ''WesternAnimation/BatmanBeyondReturnOfTheJoker'' the Joker does this to one of his gang after a robbery attempt is foiled by Batman. Though, to be fair, the henchman in question unwisely mouthed-off to him.

* It's noted in ''WesternAnimation/TheOwlHouse'' that Emperor Belos is "not a merciful man", and multiple people under his employ express outright terror at the thought of failing to carry out his orders. At one point, [[spoiler:Hunter]] even tries to cut out the middle man upon discovering that his current mission was AllForNothing and begins to [[DigYourOwnGrave dig his own grave]].
