** Ever since Zeke's introduction, he was paired with Harper by fans, due to their similar {{Sidekick}} statuses. In recent episodes, they have a love interest growing.
** Many fan stories have been written about Alex fearing Justin leaving for college, and coming up with wacky hijinks to stop him from leaving. In Delinquent Justin, this turns out to be the entire plot, which she has been planning for four years in advance. The entire episode, ''especially'' the end, is a CrowningMomentOfHeartwarming.
** One of the most famous {{fanfic}}s in the Jalex fandom, [[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4661025/1/In_Fire_In_Ice In Fire, In Ice]], revolves around the government finding out about magic, and [[DarkFic the government hunting down/imprisoning all wizards]], and Justin and Alex going on the run desperately trying to survive. In the Season 3 finale, the government finds out about magic and imprisons the Russos along with numerous other wizards.

* MoodDissonance: Max can (and ''will'') single handedly change the entire vibe of the show (usually [[{{YMMV}} for the worse]]) with just his mere presence. Never mind what he's actually saying or doing.
* MoodWhiplash: The show is a lighthearted teenage comedy without any serious consquences for anyone for years until suddenly Justin's very old vampire girlfriend ages to her real age and Alex's boyfriend turns out to be a {{jerkass}} and is turned permanently into a wolf.

* OutOfCharacterMoment: More like Out of Character ''episode''. In ''Alex's Logo'', everyone is generally not themselves, but the biggest victim is Justin.
* PluckyComicRelief: Max, whose dialogue consists of nothing but bad one-liners.

** The creator constantly jokes about the Justin/Alex pairing, recently stating that if he ever runs out of ideas, he'll do a ''whole season'' of Jalex-filled episodes.

** Unless [[FridgeBrilliance it was actually a pretty crappy comic that the publishers were trying to get rid of and didn't really care about, including the quality of the art.]] It would also explain why they held a competition instead of actually hiring professionals. They never seem to get paid for it either, or even ''mention'' it after that episode.

** Also in the movie, Theresa gets one, going MamaBear against a witch on her own. Notably because a)She's mortal, b)She doesn't even remember her kids, and c)She seems to be the only person to care about Max's disappearance.

** When Justin and Max switch bodies with the dance instructors in ''Quinceanera''.
** At the end of ''Positive Alex'', when Justin expected Max to show him the video with the basketball game in which he took part, but instead Max filmed himself and their parents fooling around.

** Most of the people who watched the Wizards vs. Werewolves special were disappointed by the fact stunt doubles were used, especially considering the stunts weren't that serious and given Justin's actor's athleticism he probably could have done all of them himself.
** An AlternateUniverse episode has been long awaited by fans, most thinking everyone's personalities would be reversed (Justin being a rebel, Alex being a nerd), or the FanPreferredCouple not being related. ''All About You-niverse'' turned out to be nothing but everyone agreeing with Alex and generally being annoying.

* AccidentalInnuendo: In "Justin's Little Sister", Alex blatantly admits to her mother that the idea of her parents [[GRatedSex canoodling]] grosses her out more than the idea of [[RelationshipWritingFumble going out with her own brother]]. This scene can be considered [[AccidentalPublicConfession the turning point]] for many fans of the show, as from this point on [[YourMileageMayVary you were either a Jalex fan or you weren't]]. Note that is not a case of ThatCameOutWrong, as neither her or her mother saw anything wrong with this.
** Perhaps not-so-accidental: in "Helping Hand", after Max 'invents' his toothbrush/backscratcher, Jerry and Theresa have a conversation debating how unfair their 'backscratching' is in bed. Jerry accuses Theresa of pretending to be too tired to 'scatch his back' and she accuses him of not returning the favour, stating "It's just scratch, I'm done."

* CharacterDerailment: The golden-hearted [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold Alex]] turned into an absolute [[ManipulativeBastard bastard]] and the steady Justin became a [[CainAndAbel hateful, grudging brother, who wants to humiliate Alex, instead of protect her]]. Well, his derailment might be [[AnnoyingYoungerSibling her fault, too]].

* CrowningMomentOfAwesome: In TheMovie, when Justin and Alex fight each other.

* CrowningMomentOfFunny: When Justin and Max switch bodies with the dance instructors in ''Quinceanera''.

* {{Fanon}}: A good half of the fandom believes that someone is adopted. The most accused of this fate is Justin, because [[FanDumb he doesn't look Latino like Alex and Max]]. The three kids are Latino and Italian, Justin simply inherited his looks from his father.
** Not to mention Justin was ripped from existence in [[TheMovie the movie]]. This infers that if anyone were to be adopted, it would be Alex. The reason she didn't get taken away was [[HandWave hand waved]], leaving it up to fans to debate.
* FanPreferredCouple: [[BrotherSisterIncest Justin and Alex]]. The last movie suggests that even the producers might have become [[PortmanteauCoupleName Jalex]] fans. (along with almost every fan of the show)

** Despite the huge popularity of [[BetaCouple Zeke/Harper]], Max/Harper still has it's relatively small but loyal fanbase. Most of it stems from the fact that in almost every scene shot in the Russo apartment, Max and Harper are constantly in the background, talking and laughing.
*** Last time this troper checked, Max/Harper had a larger fanbase than Zeke/Harper, which is the OfficialCouple and is probably popular just within the show, not within the fanbase.

* FridgeBrilliance: In the beginning of Captain Jim Bob Sherwood, Justin tells Alex he doesn't use email because spam tries to sell him ''vitamins'', and Alex seems quite amused to find that Justin ordered some. [[GettingCrapPastTheRadar It was an obvious 'male enhancement' joke]]. The brilliant part comes when you realize Justin has confessed to Alex how insecure he is during the movie.

* HoYay: There seems to be some between Justin and his dad (after all, Justin is his favorite). More noticeable is the amount between Max and his Conscience--he and his Conscience were wrestling [[NotWhatItLooksLike (which looked very suggestive)]] and his Conscience has even sat on his lap. It probably doesn't help that his Conscience is played by Moises Arias, Jake T. Austin's (the actor who plays Max) best friend in real life.

* LesYay: [[AccidentalInnuendo Unintentionally]], Alex and the [[MeaningfulName Tutor]], Max's wizard tutor. Although Alex said that she just wanted to befriend the girl, she was so determined in doing so, that she even fought with Justin (who wanted to date the elf), for an entire episode, like two beings who fight for the same love partner. This was due to elves' hereditary charms, but this explanation didn't make the situation appear any less implicit, because it validated some viewers' insights regarding Alex's [[GettingCrapPastTheRadar true intentions]].

* MissedMomentOfAwesome: Most of the people who watched the Wizards vs. Werewolves special were disappointed by the fact stunt doubles were used, especially considering the stunts weren't that serious and given Justin's actor's athleticism he probably could have done all of them himself.

They could have actually developed her style over the series and perhaps shown her practicing in order to give her more character depth and show she does care about something. There is no way she's good enough to illustrate an entire comic book (especially in what appears to be a Marvel style) without practising A LOT.

It's shown in several episodes that it's one of the few things that she genuinely cares about and will fight for (such as when she paints the school mural or actually works to get back the art class).
