* SoBadItsGood: It was billed as a thriller, but it plays like a spoof. In addition to some truly horribly staged scenes and awful dialogue, it has some exceptional scenery chewing from Denise Richards and Creator/KevinBacon. Only Creator/BillMurray seemed to be aware that the movie was meant to be tongue in cheek. The film's twist ending, though not too difficult to either see coming or figure out once revealed, was fully explained with supplemental scenes in the end credits that fill in the gaps. It also has a great GambitPileup story buried under bad writing and mediocre acting. It's like watching a movie of a Carl Hiaasen novel, certainly more than the Film of the Book of Strip Tease.

* ParodyRetcon: The movie is generally seen as a GuiltyPleasure if nothing else, but the sheer volume of unintentional hilarity has lead some to hypothesize that it may have been a StealthParody of erotic thrillers all along. It was directed by an indie filmmaker with a history of making clever movies, and it gives a juicy (and funny) supporting role to a well-known comedian (Creator/BillMurray), so the hypothesis isn't unreasonable.

* TookTheBadFilmSeriously: Wild Things isn't necessarily a bad movie. While the film seems to be trying to be a StealthParody of the erotic thriller genre, the cast doesn't seem to agree on how seriously to take the script. As a result, many see it as unintentionally hilarious.

* FridgeLogic: How is BillMurray's attorney character [[spoiler:a trusted associate of Suzie? Either Lombardo was responsible for selecting him for the trial (or suggested by his colleague, it's never made all that clear), in which case it's an implausibly major coincidence; or Suzie specifically suggested him to Sam, in which case Sam should have been asking more questions about him and questioned his motives, which means the attorney should have played a much bigger role in the proceeding round of backstabs committed by everyone else. All in all, Sam just treats the guy like an unwitting pawn]].
