* WhatDoYouMeanItsForKids: And how! This series doesn't bother holding down [[NightmareFuel/{{Wakfu}} horrifying]], or raunchy moments. It gets even worse in season 3 onwards. As for the English dub, it's surprisingly more mature than dubs of other shows belonging to the same demographic (for example, "hell" is uttered a lot; the producers didn't bother [[GoshDarnItToHeck substituting it]]). All of this boils down to the fact that France has looser guidelines on what content is considered "for kids" unlike in the other side of the Atlantic.

* IAmNotShazam: Nobody in the show is named "Wakfu". That is merely the name of the divine energy utilized in the show. The protagonist is named "Yugo".

* RomanticPlotTumor:
** A very light example during the last half of season one, as Sadlygrove and Evangelyne's relationship begins to get hinted at more and more. It never overtakes the main plot, but their relationships with almost anyone but each other stop being explored. It can make it kind of jarring in the season finale when [[spoiler:Yugo is spurred into an UnstoppableRage after he feels Sadlygrove's wakfu disappear]] and [[spoiler:Evangelyne has a HeroicBSOD when the Tree of Life dies, "killing" Amalia]], because it's so easy to forget that they had meaningful relationships with other characters, too.
** And it happens again in season two, which has several episodes focused on a fight between Sadlygrove and Evangelyne and a LoveTriangle between those two and Cleo.

** Its difficiult to not pity Oropo's [[spoiler:and his people's]] plights. Helps that, unlike the other villains, he had unambiguously altruistic motives.

** Sadlygrove. Some find his hot-bloodedness entertaining and his stupidity funny, while others find him annoying and think he is spotlight-stealing CreatorsPet.

** [[SceneryCensor Smug Duck]].[[labelnbote:Explanation]]A scene where Eva gets into a bath is censored by a rubber duck with the biggest, smug-looking smile on its bill.[[/labelnote]]
** '''TWENTY MISERABLE MINUTES!!!'''.[[labelnbote:Explanation]]Nox manages to kill Yugo and rewind time...only for his hard work to amount to only twenty minutes into the past.[[/labelnote]]

* AdaptationDisplacement: While the show isn't too well recognized in the west even fewer people know it was based off of an MMO (Which was originally supposed to launch along side the show but was constantly delayed until 2012.); which itself was a spinoff of VideoGame/{{Dofus}}.

* WhatDoYouMeanItWasntMadeOnDrugs: Evangelyne has a very trippy experience in episode 20 of season 1.

** Also raise your hands everyone who guessed that [[spoiler:[[BigBad Oropo]] was an Eliotrope]]. Bonus point if you also guessed that [[spoiler: Oropo was also [[CloningBlues a clone of Yugo]] and not a human turned Eliotrope like the games suggest]], though that one takes a few more episodes.

* SugarWiki/SuperlativeDubbing: Season 3's English dub is a ''vast'' improvement over what came before, due to finally [[TheOtherDarrin nixing]] the infamous Website/{{Kickstarter}}-funded dub cast in favor of more professional voice actors, who have the emotional range ''much'' more befitting the characters; appropriately, just in time for the show's [[DarkerAndEdgier darkest season]].

* WhatAnIdiot: Remington Smisse accepted a job to rob one of Bonta's wealthiest merchants of an enchanted mask, a job that would have ''required'' the use of ''several'' enchanted weapons to pull off. Grany advises against it, Remington decides to go for it anyway. He loves challenges.

* MoralEventHorizon:
** In season two, [[spoiler:Qilby seemingly kills Adamai via beheading after revealing his master plan to kill everyone on the planet to rebirth their race. Then throws baby Grougaloragran into his engine of destruction for an AndIMustScream fate.]]
** In season 3 [[spoiler:Adamaï]] crosses it right at the start where he casually attacks Sadlygrove's and Evangelyne's family (including their [[WouldHurtAChild children]]) and makes Yugo watch to boot.

* TastesLikeDiabetes: The shorts ''Mini-Wakfu'' at the end of each episode of season 1 are DenserAndWackier, using chibified models of the characters. For the most part, it wasn't really a problem. However, when the show underwent CerebusSyndrome and became DarkerAndEdgier during the last few episodes, they began to stand out like a sore thumb in the eyes of some. The biggest offender is episode 25, which ends with [[spoiler:Sadlygroove's death and Yugo going on a RoaringRampageOfRevenge]]... And then comes the goofy short with Nox and the machine [[spoiler:that killed Sadlygroove]].

** '''[[EvilIsCool NOX.]]''' He who has fans who literally know (and care) about [[JustHereForGodzilla nothing else in the show except for him.]]

** Vampyro, Xav, and Kriss Krass tend to get a lot of attention, as well.
** Maude and Cleophelia have their fans, too.
** Season 2 introduces Remington Smisse, the Shushu hunter, though Ankama seemed to be expecting it given the background comics and bonus videos.
** And now we have Frida Mofette, a.k.a. [[FanNickname General Crazytits]].
** Every member of the [[AntiVillain brotherhood of forgotten]] are considered this, special mention to Black Bump for his personality and weird hobby of collecting [[CollectorOfTheStrange underwear of his opponents]], Mishell for her BadassAdorable character and Lady Echo for her MsFanservice appareance and also being a genuine FriendlyEnemy to [[spoiler:Evangeline and Flopin]].

* MagnificentBastard: Nox, the mad Xelor and keeper of the Eliacube who serves as the BigBad of the first season, is an audacious and brilliant TimeMaster who devotes himself wholly to one thing: to turn back time two-hundred years, back to when his Eliacube-induced insanity resulted in the death of his family. Nox drains the wakfu from entire countries and leaves all around him in ruin to store the captured wakfu in the Eliacube, affording himself no setbacks and firmly convinced turning back time while simultaneously erase all of his own atrocities, allowing him and the World of Twelve a fresh start. With his ruthless, unfettered agenda leading to the defeat of everyone who tries to stand up against him -- with Nox effortlessly tricking the entire Sadida military into wasting their soldiers on a diversion Nox sets up, and even defeating the ancient dragon Grougaloragran and Yugo himself -- Nox's defeat only comes when it's revealed he never could have gotten enough wakfu to bring his family back, even his final defeat cast in an immensely sympathetic light.
* [[GreaterScopeVillain Oropo]] is the [[LastOfHisKind remaining Eliotrope]], a species created by Yugo's fight against Ogrest, and founder of The Siblings. Aiming to [[GodhoodSeeker replace the gods]], who ignored his people's extinction, Oropo weakened their standing by causing Ogrest's Chaos and Nox's Eliacube-induced insanity. Executing his plan to destroy the gods' realm with an Eliacube-bomb, Oropo stays one step ahead of the [[Characters/WakfuBrotherhoodOfTheTofu Brotherhood of Tofu]], exploiting their fears and regrets, nearly swaying Amalia to his side and defeating Yugo by predicting his every move. Showing unexpected vulnerability and care towards the Brotherhood and Siblings alike, Oropo only loses when he gives up on his life-long goal to spare their lives, reconciliating with his partner Echo as they die together.

* ToyShip: Yugo×Amalia. All of the fishing, stargazing, playing and greeting each other first they do together doesn't help matters either. And that's before you even get into all the hugging. Made even clearer in the Comic. Not so much in season three when both are in their 20's but because Yugo ages a ''lot'' slower then his friends he is physically still a child, much to his frustration.

** In season 3 [[spoiler:Adamaï]] crosses it right at the start where he casually attacks Sadlygrove's and Evangelyne's family (including their [[WouldHurtAChild children]] and makes Yugo watch to boot.

* RootingForTheEmpire: Nox is what happens when you have a villain who's [[EvilIsCool so much cooler than the heroes]] that the fanbase starts rooting for him to win ''even if it kills everyone else in the cast.'' The most shocking part about it? [[spoiler:Those fans are right. If Nox had actually ''[[AllForNothing succeeded]]'' in his plan, every horrible thing and every bit of damage he's done to the world [[ResetButton would have been reversed]] and the world as a whole ''would actually be better off.'']] And this isn't even getting into his [[CryForTheDevil incredibly tragic]] [[WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds backstory]]...

* UnintentionallySympathetic: Somewhat. Qilby is intended to be a villain with sympathetic reasons for being the way he is, but it appears the makers underestimated just how much a section of the fanbase would pity him due to the WhoWantsToLiveForever nature of his plight coupled with his CompleteImmortality (until it's revealed in Season 3 that Eliatrope Dofus ''can'' be destroyed at least one way). Those who do feel at least some sympathy for Qilby are probable to argue that [[WhatTheHellHero Yugo and the rest of the Council are the real bastards]] for not even trying to sympathize with him and for coldly banishing him to the White Dimension (which likely worsened his insanity).

* CultClassic: Despite not being as profitable as its sister franchise, Dofus, the show itself has enough of a following for at least two successful kickstarter campaigns and continuing well over ten years after its original release.
