* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: A Fan of Wakfu named [=ZeraTheGames=] has made a [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdM9QgUB-xY video]] about Qilby's Betrayal and brings us another side of the story: Qilby was allowed to [[TooDumbToLive stole the heart]] of [[AlwaysChaoticEvil Orgonax]] by the Counsel of Six ForScience and secretly to help them fighting the Mechasm by building the Zinit and the Eliacube. When there arrived at the World of Twelve, the Counsel has struggled to agree on the future of the Eliatropes: Most of them wanted to stay but Qilby (maybe feeling guilty) want to exact revenge on the Mechasm for all the death they have caused. Chibi (The Prophet) has named Yugo the king despite the fact the Eliatropes was a DEMOCRACY !!! In order to prevent Qilby to use his influence on the Children: he even alter their memories so they can believe they are on their original world. Fed up with all the lies that have been made, he contact Orgonnax in order to redeem(maybe) himself but also remind his kind that they were also warriors. And the best part ? He actually spend his entire time [[AttackItsWeakPoint studying Orgonnax biology so he can find its weak spot]] and SUCCEEDED before being trapped in the blank dimension.
** For what we saw, only Yugo and Amalia have parents: Ruel has been raised by his grandmother who is a bigger miser than him(Season 2 Episode 7) and never bought him anything; Sadlygrove has Goultard as a mentor and a father figure; Evangelyne and Cleophelia don't have visible mother or father. Even so, the Sadida king has questionable parenting skills since Amalia had run away TWICE in a span of few months but this mostly due to Amalia's Brother [[PrinceCharmless Armand]]. According to the wiki, the king and the prince weren't very close with fer and somehow forced her to stay in the kingdom: the Season 1 episode 20 show us her dream family and it quite revealing...
** As much he is IncorruptiblePurePureness, Yugo has not always being a morally "White" character
*** He has tried to kill Nox in cold blood in season 1 (granted, the BigBad has indirectly caused [[spoiler:the death of Sadlygrove]]) but we are talking about a 12 YEARS OLD BOY. And on top of that, he knows perfectely that he has failed and travel back in time enough to save the Sadidas. Had he won, he would have doomed an ENTIRE KINGDOM. Not only he can be a murderer and a liar...
*** In Season 2, he accidentally free Qilby (see the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdM9QgUB-xY video]] about his "Betrayal) and was foolish enough to try to beat someone who is much more experienced than he is. Again, he is curb-stomped by the new BigBad who is only defeated by his own sister, injuring enough to allow Yugo to trap him back into his prison. He lies again and he is willing to use every opportunities to defeat someone. Kinda like of the Episode 21 where he launch a gorilla into a deep chasm or Episode 23 where he is sabotaging a boat on purpose to prevent his friends to get caught in the crossfire(nevermind that the boat was ALREADY stuck into the fleet of [[spoiler: Sufokia]]).
*** Last but not least, the overall Special Episodes. First, he is jealous of Count Harebourg for just being nice(Amalia has said she is going to marry him ON HER OWN ACCORD); second, he physically assault Adamai because he wants to save Grovy(which by the way is now [[spoiler: a god, thus immortal]] ) despite the potential destruction that it will cause. Yet again, SelfFulfillingProphecy occurs and he once again fails to defeat the BigBad and nearly destroy the entire world of twelve by TELEPORTING A MOUNTAIN ON SPACE !!!. WellIntentionedExtremist in spades !!!
** Sadlygrove, when you think about it, is quite InnocentlyInsensitive:
*** While his LeeroyJenkins and BloodKnight tendencies are pretty obvious, he is quite clueless when it comes to romance. He doesn't trust Eva strategic approaches to a fight and end up being TheLoad: in Episode 19, he is starting a CockFight with Armand Sheran Sharm over Eva, conveniently forgetting that she has told him she wasn't interested with the prince the PREVIOUS EPISODE. He finally managed to wise up a little bit before the season finale but he finally manage to do a RedemptionEqualsDeath moment.
*** On the 2nd season, he doesn't seems to grasp that his girlfriend is unable to mourn him and never had the idea to try to contact her and explain her better the situation rather than vague allusions. After an epic chase and an even more epic fight, what does he do when he is finally ressurected ? JUMPING HEADFIRST ONTO A FIGHT WHILE THE BUILDING IS CRUMBLING !!!. But, it doesn't stop there: he is still basically the same old IdiotHero and always put himself in danger to look for a good fight. The biggest KickTheDog that he commit is when Eva reveals that she has a sister, he is extremely angry for not telling to him and felt insulted to be a simple ButtMonkey: to top it all, he seems to flirt even with Evangelyne's sister. Fortunately, he is realizing his mistake and make up before the finale. Yet again, he is risking his life for a fight with a PhysicalGod and only has to be stopped by his master Goultard: his arc is concluded when he finally discover that Eva is [[spoiler: pregnant]] and choose to stop his adventures for a few months.
*** During the Special Episode, he has become a family man that value more his children than the actual fighting and actually seeks to propose to Eva. That changes completely when he discovers that he is [[spoiler: the Iop God]], he freaks out and refuse to help the Sadida Kingdom. Eva has to do a GetaHoldofYourselfMan but he goes too far when he tries to defeated the responsible for [[spoiler: the flood]], [[PhysicalGod Ogrest]]. Keep in mind that Ogrest has already defeated 10 more powerful and more experience gods in the past...

* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic:
** All of the music is well-made and immersive, but nothing can beat the music that plays during the final moves of the Gobbowl game in episode 12, or the baking-tournament music in episode 8.
** It's actually played with in the very last episode. The Gobbowl-epic music is played several times, but never to its conclusion, being interrupted by the action ([[spoiler:like Nox stopping time to dodge an attack]]). When Yugo finally puts a {{Crowning Moment of Awesome}}, the last (epic) part of the music is played with full effect.
** Most of the show's soundtrack is composed of remixes of the opening theme. [[EarWorm It's doesn't make them any less catchy.]]
** All of these just pale before "[[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qSJwFEBM-h0&NR=1 Nox's Theme]]", however. Which, amusingly, is trumped only by... [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OlNkfqjnPv8 Nox's second theme]].
** The full, instrumental version of the intro music, [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srpI5u7Je1o "Sur tes pas"]], is epic. Especially if you're a metal head. And the [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1ArMhyJVSQ full vocal version]] -- epic upgrade to fantasy metal is epic.
** Whatever plays at the second season finale, when [[spoiler:the Eliatrope children join Yugo in giving Qilby a piece of their mind.]]
* BaseBreakingCharacter:
** [[TheSixthRanger Adamaï]]. Some find him an enjoyable addition to the cast, others aren't too fond of him, at all.
** Sadlygrove. Some find his hot-bloodedness entertaining and his stupidity funny, while others find him annoying and think he is spotlight-stealing CreatorsPet.
* BrokenBase: Fans have some disagreements over the character's names, [[DubNameChange depending on which localization said fans prefer]].
* CaptainObviousReveal: Those who already guessed that [[spoiler:the Masked Gobbowler is a woman]] by episode 10 of season 2, please raise your hands.
* CrazyAwesome: Nox. How else can you describe a soul-eating ClockPunk MadScientist who rides around in a [[HumongousMecha gigantic]] [[SpiderTank walking]] [[SupervillainLair clock]] (which is ''also'' [[PoweredByAForsakenChild powered by the life force of everything in the universe]]).
* CreatorsPet: After Yugo, Sadlygrove gets by far the most CharacterDevelopment, subplots, and power-ups out of the entire main cast, to the point that at the end of the third OVA [[spoiler: he turns out to be a reincarnation of a god and is the only other person besides Yugo to fight Ogrest. And he is able to put up a decent fight against Ogrest by himself even though Ogrest's deal is that he is so strong the Twelve Gods combined couldn't stop him]].
* CryForTheDevil:
** [[WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds Nox]] may evoke this reaction, especially after his defeat.
** Even though he's far less sympathetic than Nox, [[spoiler:Qilby]] may arouse a little pity after his own [[spoiler:sister]] turns against him in order to stop his madness and he's left crippled, crawling and desperatly begging for her help. Also, when [[spoiler:he's [[FateWorseThanDeath locked again]] in the White Dimension]].
* EnsembleDarkhorse:
** Kabrok, to the extent of justifying his own graphic novel.
** Vampyro, Xav, and Kriss Krass tend to get a lot of attention, as well.
** Maude and Cleophelia have their fans, too.
** Season 2 introduces Remington Smisse, the Shushu hunter, though Ankama seemed to be expecting it given the background comics and bonus videos.
** And now we have Frida Mofette, a.k.a. [[FanNickname General Crazytits]].
* FakeUltimateHero: According to this [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VWNVMhicUbs video]], the actual competence of the Brotherhood of Tofu is quite questionnable:
** They never defeat the BigBad directly (Yugo has been killed by Nox and knocked-out by both Qilby and Ogrest; Sadlygrove has [[HeroicSacrifice sacrificed]] himself when he could have just use his enhanced leaping to put the girls at safety or fighting close-combat with the robot, he didn't take down Rushu but he tried nonetheless and he was defeated as well by Ogrest.
** Someone else has defeated the BigBad (Joris for Razortime, Nox himself due to Yugo steal his Wakfu for travelling back in time, Shinonome by blasting her brother's arm and crippling him enough to allow Yugo to trap him back into his prison, Goultard for trapping back Rushu in his own dimension, Otomai by convincing his "son" to do a HeelFaceTurn).
** They also commit acts of dubious morality (Yugo stealing the Wakfu of Nox which he uses to travel back in time and thus potentially leaving not enough Wakfu for travelling back enough to save the Sadida Kingdom, Yugo trapping Qilby back into his prison despite [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdM9QgUB-xY evidence]] proving that Qilby wasn't the only one who has committed shady acts, Yugo teleporting a mountain into space for saving ONE guy who is immortal and nearly dooming the entire world if only Goultard has hatched a plan, Grovy leaving his family to fight Ogrest even if several attempts have been done in the past by the 10 Original Gods and all of them have FAILED).
* FridgeHorror: It's revealed that Sadlygrove's emotional state plays a hand in how he acts when fully possessed by Rubilax. That means there was a part of Sadlygrove that was totally fine with trying to kill a twelve-year-old boy who had the guts to stand up to him. Sadlygrove ''was'' at a pretty low, lonely moment when he was possessed...
* GeniusBonus:
** The draconic message left by Grougaloragran to Alibert (in episodes 1 and 2) is a cryptic message from the authors, written in an imaginary alphabet. The official ''Wakfu'' art book contains a French-Draconic code-breaker. [[spoiler:Turns out it's just a transcription of the message that Grougaloragran left for Yugo.]]
** Every time "dragon speech" is used, it's a French sentence played backwards.
** Subverted: The message etched on the wall in Ruel's cell in episode 20 is similarly written in another imaginary alphabet and turns out to be [[spoiler:a rather crude insult directed at whoever's obsessive enough to have managed to read it]].
* IAmNotShazam: Nobody in the show is named "Wakfu". That is merely the name of the divine energy utilized in the show. The protagonist is named "Yugo".
* LesYay: Eva and Amalia; although their relationship is platonic, they ''did'' hold hands in episode 20, if you recall.
* LikeYouWouldReallyDoIt: "Oh yeah, like Ankama would really have the balls to [[spoiler:kill off the lovable IdiotHero]]." They didn't.
* MemeticMutation:
** Any variation of [[PlayerPunch ANKAMA IS EVIL/ARE JERKS]].
** It's become a minor mutation to take the last two panels of [[http://kanna-maru.deviantart.com/art/WaCK-foOl-1-106895074 this comic]] and edit it to make something referring to the season 1 finale and/or something ridiculous (as a warning, most of the edits are heavily spoilerific).
** [[SceneryCensor Smug Duck]].
** '''TWENTY MISERABLE MINUTES!!!'''
* {{Moe}}: Wakfu has been described on this very Wiki as "''[[Anime/TengenToppaGurrenLagann Gurren Lagann]]'', but with {{Moe}} rather than HotBlood". The worst offenders are Yugo and Amalia, but Eva has [[http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e397/I_am_Latia/WHYSOMOEEVA1.jpg her moments]] [[http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e397/I_am_Latia/WHYSOMOEEVA2.jpg as well]].... Which is not to say that the characters are totally [[{{Badass}} helpless and huggable]].
* MoralEventHorizon: In season two, [[spoiler:Quilby seemingly kills Adamai via beheading after revealing his master plan to kill everyone on the planet to rebirth their race. Then throws baby Grougaloragran into his engine of destruction for an AndIMustScream fate.]]
* RomanticPlotTumor:
** A very light example during the last half of season one, as Sadlygrove and Evangelyne's relationship begins to get hinted at more and more. It never overtakes the main plot, but their relationships with almost anyone but each other stop being explored. It can make it kind of jarring in the season finale when [[spoiler:Yugo is spurred into an UnstoppableRage after he feels Sadlygrove's wakfu disappear]] and [[spoiler:Evangelyne has a HeroicBSOD when the Tree of Life dies, "killing" Amalia]], because it's so easy to forget that they had meaningful relationships with other characters, too.
** And it happens again in season two, which has several episodes focused on a fight between Sadlygrove and Evangelyne and a LoveTriangle between those two and Cleo.
* TheScrappy: Adamai as the series goes on, due to his forced comic relief antics in Season 1 and being kind of an asshole in Season 2 due to his insistence nobody else can use Eliatrope artifacts (which results in [[spoiler:Quilby, whose actions include ''mass murder'']], being let loose), and [[NeverMyFault rarely owning up to his actions]]. His continuing uncompromising behavior in the [=OVAs=], resulting in a fight with his brother, and [[spoiler:[[FaceHeelTurn switching sides]]]] even after the world was safe didn't help.
* SeasonalRot: Downplayed. While Season 2 is still fairly good, there are still a number of major hiccups, such as lopsided plot and character focus issues, pacing problems, overuse of filler episodes, and the main antagonists lacking interesting traits. The final episodes recover some lost ground by shaking up the status quo and implementing more world-building, although [[LastEpisodeNewCharacter new characters]] are introduced almost abruptly.
* SubbingVersusDubbing: As is par for the course, there's some minor controversy over whether the English dub is any good. It doesn't help that the English Dub was the only version of the show on Netflix for a while (come Season 2, a French voice option was added).
* TastesLikeDiabetes: ''Mini-Wakfu''.
* ToughActToFollow: After Nox, some people were rather underwhelmed about Rushu and [[spoiler:Qilby]], who come off as much more by-the-numbers and lacking in complex and sympathetic qualities.
* ToyShip: Yugo×Amalia. All of the fishing, stargazing, playing and greeting each other first they do together doesn't help matters either. And that's before you even get into all the hugging. Made even clearer in the Comic.
* VisualEffectsOfAwesome: Hands down one of the most gorgeous-looking Flash-animated series out there, which is pretty surprising considering it's made for an MMORPG.
* WhatAnIdiot: Remington Smisse accepted a job to rob one of Bonta's wealthiest merchants of an enchanted mask, a job that would have ''required'' the use of ''several'' enchanted weapons to pull off. Grany advises against it, Remington decides to go for it anyway. He loves challenges.
* WhatDoYouMeanItWasntMadeOnDrugs: Evangelyne has a very trippy experience in episode 20 of season 1.
