** The Pretender Alice, whose presence in the plot feels rather forced, exacerbating the [[RomanticPlotTumor already contentious]] Sam and Mikaela subplot, and the film [[MoodWhiplash having difficulty deciding]] if it wants her to be scary or funny.

** Arcee, Chromia, and Elita-1 as well. They get even far less screen time and dialogue than the aforementioned Fallen, [[spoiler:Elita-1 is abruptly and cheaply KilledMidSentence during the finale, and both Arcee and Chromia subsequently suffer WhatHappenedToTheMouse statuses.]]

* OlderThanTheyThink: The idea of Transformers like Alice who can turn into humans is actually nothing new. [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pretenders_(Transformers)#Standard_Pretenders_.281988.29 The Pretenders]] first appeared in Generation 1, and both sides had them. (Although in that version, a Pretender's disguise was more like PoweredArmor which could actually fight independently of the Pretender once it revealed itself.)

** Scorponok just happening to show up during the battle in Egypt where he mauls Jetfire before he's unceremoniously disposed of, having apparently managed to avoid detection for two years after his defeat in Qatar.

** Optimus forging with Jetfire's remains before confronting The Fallen is also worthy of note.

** The film reuses a shot from not just the first film (the Autobots arriving at Earth being used for Decepticon arrival) and one from an hour ago (Soundwave in space relaying Decepticons orders). They also utilized a shot from ''Film/PearlHarbor'' (the scene in which ships are shown), though this is less noticeable.

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter:
** The titular Fallen. He's voiced by Creator/TonyTodd, the GreaterScopeVillain to all of the Decepticons, pretty DangerouslyGenreSavvy when it comes to picking his spots, and evidently quite a winner in the SuperpowerLottery. Sadly, he also turns out to be a textbook GenericDoomsdayVillain with the barest minimum of screen time, not to mention his extremely glaring [[spoiler:ForgotAboutHisPowers moment against Optimus that ultimately robs viewers of a satisfying final clash]]. And reportedly, even WordOfGod ultimately regrets how he's turned out.

* CompleteMonster: [[SpellMyNameWithAThe The Fallen]], also known as [[SatanicArchetype Megatronus Prime]], is this film's BigBad and the film universe's first Decpeticon. Originally one of the 7 members of the Dynasty of Primes, The Fallen betrayed his brothers and attempted to [[KillAllHumans use the Star Harvester on Earth's Sun]] regardless of the Dynasty's code against taking life, solely because of his FantasticRacism towards primitive humankind. Eons after his defeat, The Fallen corrupts Megatron, creates the Decepticons, and [[TheManBehindTheMan orders him to find the All Spark]], [[GreaterScopeVillain making him responsible]] for the events of the first film. After he lures Optimus Prime to his death using Sam as bait, The Fallen sank an aircraft carrier, attacked several human cities, and slaughtered a sizable military force while acquiring the Matrix of Leadership to activate the Star Harvester again, fully intending to [[OmnicidalManiac wipe out the human race]].

* ParvumOpus: The movie is widely considered the weakest in the series. It's also commonly viewed as a [[InkStainAdaptation permanent stain on the film series' reputation]] and possibly one of the worst ''Transformers'' stories of all.
