* CompleteMonster: Lo Po Bia Ren, aka Yuga, is a member of the Royal Enforcement Division who was sent to kill a Princess of Jehad for giving birth to a child carrying her powers. Ren would set her house on fire while she's still inside, burning her alive, and when her daughter, Anak Jahad, vows vengeance for her mother's death, Ren infiltrates the Submerged Fish Hunt Test and gleefully taunts Anak about being her mother's killer. Defeating Anak, he has his Bull capture Endorsi Jahad and tries to force her to kill Anak. When Anak and Endorsi team up, Ren attempts to kill the two, crushing Anak with his foot. When Anak and Endorsi are saved by Yuri Jahad, who proceeds to defeat Ren, he sends his Bull to kill Baam and Rachel, due to the former's status as an Irregular.

** One scene that tends to get an especially hostile response from webcomic sticklers is the very end of the Crown Game (Season 1, Chapter 25 in the Webcomic vs. Episode 5 of the anime). The deviations in the scene that get the most complaints are:
*** (1) In the anime, after being attacked by Hwa Ryun, Bam has a quick flashback to his life in the cave as he loses consciousness. In the flashback, we see Rachel smile at him giving Bam his HeroicSecondWind. The webcomic has a slightly longer LovedOnesMontage (or Loved One Montage) about Rachel that similarly energizes Bam. However, in addition to happy memories, the webcomic briefly shows a moment where Rachel is having her hair pulled by some unknown assailant as she cries out. Some argue that the change deprives Rachel of some character depth re: why she may have been a ResentfulGuardian (for example, her being PunishedForSympathy, being forced to become Bam's caretaker, or being some manner of TheExile)
*** (2) The anime also depicts that Bam cuts out Hwa Ryun's eye through exercising the ability to turn into a giant golden blast of Shinsu. Said attack lasts for several seconds (wherein all participants stare in wonder), making the fact that Bam's friends don't reference it again seem a lot more egregious. Conversely, in the webcomic, having that kind of ability is never indicated as even being possible. The comic instead shows a split second where Bam instinctually uses Shinsu to slice Hwa Ryun's eye. Rather than scale, the noteworthiness concerns Bam's CoverBlowingSuperpower of being able to use Shinsu without making a contract with a Guardian (marking him as an Irregular as clarified by Lero-Ro). As both versions have Lero-Ro clarify that the latter point is what’s most surprising, the anime interpretation of the moment seems especially pointless.
*** (3) Lastly, in the webcomic, the scene (and arc) ends with Hwa Ryun's EyeScream. Conversely, the anime has an enraged Bam stand over the downed Hwa Ryun, about to kill her with the Black March before the weapon pulls a TimeStandsStill and knocks Bam unconscious with a kiss. This tends to get complaints first because Bam, the AllLovingHero, attacks her with full intent to kill (yet doesn't react that way when Rachel actually gets seriously injured by Hoh). Second, the Black March acts against Bam with a completely new, overpowered time-stopping ability for no real reason.

** Despite being among the most developed characters in Part 1, part of a small group that might be able to avoid (or at least delay) CantCatchUp territory compared to our protagonist, and one of the few regulars whose character arc is altogether independent from Bam's, Anak is almost entirely ignored in the several hundred chapters of Part 2 barring a short (and admittedly awesome) fight against Khun Ran. This is especially egregious since her connection to the plot points of Part 2 allowed for multiple non-contrived reasons to keep her as a major character. This includes possessing a connection to Garam Jahad (who played a major role on the Floor of Death and briefly cared for Anak after she was orphaned), holding a grudge against Jahad that should have made her a prime choice to join FUG, being hunted by the Jahad Empire just like Bam, ending up the catalyst for her frenemy Endorsi losing her name at the Name Hunt Station, establishing a rivalry with the (far more focused-on) Ran, and having reason to clash with Yuri (over ownership of the Green April).

** Yu Hansung, Ho, Nya Nia, Ran, Quaetro, and especially Hoaqin incite this reaction due to their delicate features, big eyes, and (for some of them) long hair. Bam skirts this trope himself from time to time, , and Khun sometimes falls into this trope depending on his hairstyle.

*** Detractors point to the fact that as an Axis Phantamium is both invincible in a direct conflict and has the ability to RealityWarper manipulate reality across the entire Tower. They tend to argue that the Axis storyline is only relevant to SIU's SharedUniverse and almost entirely independent from the main plot. They also claim that Enryu, a being with concrete limitations that has direct plot relevance, fits the roles of WorldsStrongestMan and MysteriousStranger better without negating dramatic tension. Some even support a soft retcon of Phantamium's existence on the basis that, as [=ToG=] becomes more extensive, the other Talse Uzer plotlines have become fairly unlikely to ever come to fruition.

** There's a fairly large divide between those who believe the series gets better and more crazy after Season 1 with Bam's new incredible power and edgy attitude, or if the story becomes too convoluted with arcs lasting too long and fan-favorite characters from the first season not reappearing for an extremely long time. It does not help that the first test after the timeskip is seen as hard to follow with the sheer amount of new characters introduced.

** Some readers began to feel this way about Rak despite the humanoid crocodile being one of the main characters. This is primarily because in Season 2, Rak ended up largely OutOfFocus compared to the developments seen for Bam, Khun, and Rachel. It also doesn't help that SIU actually said it in an interview once that he doesn't enjoy drawing the large version of Rak, which is why Rak is seen in chibi-form almost all the time throughout Season 2. As a result, the fans feel that SIU is holding back on Rak from potentially doing anything badass, and has left the crocodile as nothing more than a chibi-form comic relief character.

**** Another oddity to Jahad's behavior is that despite being the BigBad who orders Bam to be killed, surprisingly he seems to currently actually prefer Bam survive and continue to grow. When he appears at the Hidden Floor, he could have pretty much just obliterated Bam without a trace but instead chose to choke him, as if he was just playing the facade of wanting to kill him. He didn't even crush his neck as he easily could have, and when Eduan's data deletes his hand, he still has his other hand yet he does nothing to stop Bam from escaping. He even states that he will wait for Bam to face him again in the future, further supporting the possibility that Jahad doesn't really want Bam dead or at least not yet. Not to mention that he is indicated to be capable of intervening anytime he likes and hunting Bam down himself, considering Gustang being able to do so, and yet he has as of now yet to appear to impede Bam's progress directly.

*** Other fans enjoy Phantamium's role in the Tower and believe that (even if he doesn't directly impact Bam's story) there are still ways to flesh out the mystery around him. Especially through answering plot-relevant questions like: Why did Phantamium break into Jahad's palace? What did they discuss? Was he the catalyst to Jahad starting to develop power over fate itself? Is he the reason for Jahad's initial inactivity? Did he inform Jahad of the prophecy regarding Bam? Why did he spare Yuri? Why does Yuri think poorly of him? Why did Urek follow him into the Tower? Is Phantamium connected to the Outside God?

** If Rachel appears in a chapter (and sometimes when she doesn't), the top audience comments on Line Webtoon will probably be ranting against her. Since she's presumably disliked for being deceitful, manipulative and cruel without being cool, competent or exceptionally cute, you might think she's a HateSink; however, she doesn't clearly fit that trope, and the author seems to dislike her less than many do. Others freely admit they know they've done horrible things, but Rachel adamantly refuses to admit that anything she has done is wrong in any way.

* TheWoobie: Bam is adorable, kind, optimistic, determined and gets to suffer quite a bit.
* TheyChangedItNowItSucks: The animated adaption has generally received a very mixed response. Among its strong points are the combination of the strong VA performances, the excellent soundtrack by Kevin Penkin, and the bright, yet unsettling aesthetic. However, a subset of the fanbase has complained loudly and frequently about the needless alteration of several key details in the anime, alleging this makes the series unnecessarily confusing and less compelling. This includes:
** Conversations that helped establish ongoing character relationships, like Bam and Endorsi commiserating on the loneliness in their pasts; Khun telling Bam and Rak about Maria (and internally lamenting that he couldn't climb the Tower alongside her); and Bam's comments to Yu Hansung, the 2nd-floor test director, expressing how little he cares for the "huge pile of garbage" that is the Tower if climbing it means he can't be with Rachel .

Is the empire a autocratic empire state ruled by a god AGodAmI emperor or is it just a tough but fair state which give opportunity to all residents of the tower and the disparity we hear about is just the outcome of creating a elite and well group who had a better life than those before and the regular who climbed the tower know how good things could be now compared to before Jahad and the ten warrior arrived? Not too mention the fact that many of the abuses of power in the tower are caused by regulars of the ten great families, which rankers have no right to intervene and whether or not Jahad himself can move against the families? We know absolutely nothing about him or his way and the group who seems most wronged by the empire is FUG who methods are far worse than anything we have seen committed on screen by a member of Jahad's empire and which was founded by one of Jahad's allies when he became emperor before his so called oppression could begin. Additional information coming in later on changes this picture: If Garam Jahad's revelations on the Floor of Death are at all accurate, Jahad is confirmed to have done things like tricked his subjects to kill each other to maintain his own power and literally murdered a baby. That said, we still don't know the reasons why he stopped on the 135th Floor, so while he may be evil, the possibility that he is a WellIntentionedExtremist remains open.

latter. WordOfGod does state that Hon saw Hoaqin's future.
*** As of the Last Station, [[spoiler: another flashback from White/Hoaquin White/Hoaqin reveals it's certainly the former, actually neither and Hon was just being blunt and cold and telling his son what his future would be like, although the surprise is that Hoaquin Hoaqin actually UsedToBeASweetKid interpreted it as the latter. Yikes. Whether or not he was telling him what he would become to give him a chance to get the idea of surpassing him out of his mind, knowing that it's impossible, or he was actually intent on corrupting Hoaqin or not, only time will tell. Another interpretation from recent chapters may be that Hon, as stated by a family member of his, doesn't care about his children's lives, apart from helping them grow stronger by aiding in their training, so he simply told Hoaqin what he believed would be his future and didn't bother to care how Hoaqin would take it, as he probably saw telling him what he could become as already being warning enough.]]

** Ja Wangnan's shinsu bombs were completely ineffective against Jue Viole Grace, and yet when he used a far weaker regular bomb, it did a fair bit of damage to him. Viole/ is completely immune to shinsu so of course the shinsu bomb wouldn't do anything.
** Horyang has a crush on Goseng. Seems like pretty standard comic relief at first, until we find out about Teddy's past, and
** On the twentieth floor, originally S.I.U. had planned for Love to mistake Viole for a girl and for Augusgus to correct him, as foreshadowing that Augusgus was a spy from [=FUG=]. Although this was changed because he thought it was too obvious, there is still a leftover of this original plan - Viole is assigned to the same room as Yiwha, a girl.
** It seems strange that Grace Mirchea Luslec would rename Bam to Jue Viole Grace, but didn't give his family name to anyone else. While this could be attributed to the fact that Bam needed to hide his identity, Luslec didn't have to give his own last name to a Slayer candidate and instead could have used a different name.

** The Floor of Death was set up to be an incredibly dangerous place, and this set up was enhanced by how the arcs right before had - making the status quo's protection feel conspicuously lighter than usual. And then Urek Mazino showed up, one-shot the previous saga's main villain with his finger, overwhelmed the current Big Bad (whose Administrator powers were supposed to make him basically unbeatable) at one-tenth strength, and effectively destroyed the idea that Bam & Co were ever in any danger. While the Floor of Death is still widely liked due to the lore and answers that are finally gotten after so long, as well as the awesomeness of seeing an Irregular cut loose, there's a debate on whether or not Urek's presence helped or hurt the arc overall.

He [[spoiler:managed to hide several allies in his bag and let them out later as to reduce the number of participants in the test without killing and to help his team win the Crown Game, managed to get Rak, who was out to kill him, on his team, tricked Quant into protecting Rachel and improved Bam's chances by making his team lose without endangering his or Anak's chances, made it so that Bam and Rachel could take the Guardian's Exam and manipulated the rest into helping them]]. On the other hand, he himself sometimes seems to see himself as a SmugSnake, admitting that there's something fundamentally missing from many of his plans -- he has a tendency to lose sight of what he ultimately wants (or to fail to consider what he should ultimately want) while obsessively focusing on the immediate problem in front of him. Rak calls him out on this when pointing out that his plan to make his cousin (who he loved) into a princess was ultimately self-defeating.

The arc specifically ended with Gustang telling Bam that the souls of the Fo D Folk are bonded there via a completed spell that even he would have a hard time undoing, so it's not like Ssong and Charlotte even could leave the floor of death at all.

** Ssong and Charlotte from the Floor of Death arc was a bit of a missed opportunity. Ssong had wanted to escape the Floor of Death in order to finally return to climbing the Tower while Charlotte is the opposite as someone who'd given up on possibly ever escaping. Unfortunately by the end of the arc, both are completely glossed over as neither take the chance to finally leave the Floor when it was time for Bam's group to leave.
