Though that's only if he hasn't crossed it in some people's minds already by [[spoiler:disregarding Emma's death as more of the loss of an asset and proceeding to deal with her funds rather than attend to her funeral]].

** Margot Robbie seriously impressed a lot of people in her first major role to the point that many felt she should have been nominated at the Oscars too.

* CrazyAwesome: Mark Hanna. He defines himself as a racketeer who runs on masturbation and cocaine, and then on top of it, he's played by Creator/MatthewMcConaughey.

** This movie shows that there really is something ''this'' depraved in our life that we need to be aware and beware about.
** They may not use guns or crowbars, but white collar criminals are just as smug, greedy, and shameless as common thugs, and get rich by stealing the life-savings of honest, hardworking people.
** During his speech at the Academy Awards, Martin Scorsese himself described the movie as "a cautionary tale about the allure of money and power, and what it means to be successful."

* BestKnownForTheFanservice: Doesn't exactly apply to the film itself (though it is known for having copious amounts of nudity and sex), but this movie is the reason why Margot Robbie is recognized as a MsFanservice in the media.

* FamilyUnfriendlyAesop: Crime pays, or rather White Collar Crime pays. Even if you get caught, even if you lose everything you have, you get a slap on the wrist and can start over again and land on your feet without being worse for the wear.

** Some were a little more unsatisfied that Creator/LeonardoDiCaprio lost the Oscar for Best Actor to Creator/MatthewMcConaughey, to the point that Creator/HonestTrailers made light of it a few times in their [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BzpIB5TJ7LI video]] on the film. When he finally won an Oscar for ''Film/TheRevenant'', many viewed it as a ConsolationAward for ''Wolf of Wall Street'' and his other performances.

* AwesomeMusic: A staple for Scorsese's films but the use of 7horse's ''Meth Lab Zoso Sticker'', a single released by a two man indie group is for some an incredible track which got a ColbertBump thanks to the film.

** He had a solid reputation but Jonah Hill's performance here was seen by many as way beyond what people expected of him, with some comparing him to Joe Pesci, being a similar role of a sociopathic sidekick.

** MatthewMcConaughey as [[LargeHam Mark Hanna]], Jordan's EvilMentor. Though given the sheer number of [[CallBack Call Backs]] to Mark's leadership style, it could also double as SmallRoleBigImpact.
** Spike Jonze also pops up in a cameo as Dwayne, the leader of Investor Center who introduces Jordan to penny stocks.

* XMeetsY: ''Film/{{Goodfellas}}'' meets ''Film/WallStreet''.
