Even worse, he secured his wife's treatment by bumping off some poor sod who was on the list of 100 randomly selected patients for the trial treatment.

** Eph's wife is suppose to be sympathetic to viewers due to Eph's issues but really, it's hard to sympathize with her. The only real bad thing Eph did was have a fling with Nora sure, but Eph quickly shows his love for their son, and his desire to fix their relationship. She's also a {{Hypocrite}} because she makes a big deal about him busy, yet she's sleeping with another man. Really it's hard to feel any sympathy cause she's such a {{Hypocrite}}

Everett Barnes, Gabriel Bolivar and Matt Sayles don't really count since they're meant to be frustrating and unsympathetic, but Eph comes across as too much of a self-absorbed asshole to be likable and his family drama slows the plot down to a grinding halt, Kelly is saddled with the cliched role of the bitch ex-wife, Nora takes far too long to come around to the vampire-killing idea and Jim Kent is UnintentionallyUnsympathetic.

***Special mentions should go to the virus itself and how it works. Basically, you can become a vampire two ways: You either are attacked and bitten by a vampire, which results in a potentially painful, slow transformation, or you are come into contact with one of the lovely little parasitic worms that transmit the virus. The worm will quickly and painfully bite its way through your skin, and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. In either case, there is absolutely nothing you can do to cure yourself or anyone else of the virus once they are infected.
* TearJerker: Vasily Fet having to [[spoiler: kill his infected coworkers after finding them hidden in a sealed room. To make it all the more disturbing, we see that the cute secretary who had been flirting with him throughout the series had a young baby.]] What makes this worse? The Master likely infected them specifically because they are part of the city's pest control. Fet would have likely been targeted had he gone into work much earlier.
