** A Fridge Tear Jerker: Juliette Capp is a Family Sim. Romeo Monty is a [[CasanovaWannabe Romance Sim]]. This Tear Jerker applies to ''any'' relationship between a Romance Sim and a Sim of any other aspiration, since the former won't be happy unless they're cheating on their hapless partner, but this particular example is the most heartwrenching. Thought you could give ''Theatre/RomeoAndJuliet'' a happy ending? [[YankTheDogsChain Think again]], their incompatible aspirations will pull the rug out from under that plan. There's some weird consolation in the fact that the expansion packs accidentally gave Juliett a Romance-themed lifetime wish, so... [[BittersweetEnding at least that means they'll]] ''[[BittersweetEnding both]]'' [[BittersweetEnding end up sleeping around...?]]Technology comes to the rescue though in form of Renuyu Senso-Orb...

* ScapegoatCreator: The disproportionate scorn heaped upon Rod Humble, at one point executive producer of the Sims division, because of his past experience working with SOE and some offhand comment that he "didn't get ''The Sims'' at first". FanDumb feared he was going to "turn ''The Sims'' into EverQuest." It didn't help that he [[AuthorAvatar appeared as a Sim]] in one expansion as essentially a door-to-door hype salesman.

** Many, especially in The Sims 3 with the deep adjustment to the game world and the completely gamebreaking lifetime awards such as reduction of needs decay, Steel Bladder (no more toilet trips), and Inheritance (large sum of money given to household no strings attached, basically "motherlode" as in-game reward, among many others.

** People who are really glued to a certain Sims game, will probably criticise the sequel ''hard''. Most commonly is ''Sims 2'' fans hating on ''Sims 3'' because the sim models got more realistic (which made the game lose it's charm), and that you have much lesser control over their lives than in ''2''.
** The major complaint about Sims 4 as there were quite a few drastic changes made. (Some bad, some very good)

Most commonly is ''Sims 2'' fans hating on ''Sims 3'' because the sim models got more realistic (which made the game lose it's charm), and that you have much lesser control over their lives than in ''2''.
''2'' (where finally time progresses in real-time but you can't control other household without losing control of your household and the Story Progression "feature" more often than not causes unpredictable outcomes that seems to be determined in random instead of individual Sim trait).
** The major complaint about Sims 4 as there were quite a few drastic changes made. (Some bad, made, from the bad ones such as removal of many features already introduced in base game of 2 and 3 (such as toddlers, swimming pools, cars, customizable neighborhood) to the radically different user interfaces, and also some very good)good ones (the overhauled "needs" and "wants" system, the new emotion system, new smartphone interaction features, and also in game videogames being more than just a fun filling machine, although in Sims 3 videogames can be used to improve relationship with distant Sims through the online feature)

** To some, the Sims in ''The Sims 3'' are like this. While in ''The Sims 2'' they were realistically animated and proportioned while still having cartoonish facial expressions, ''The Sims 3'' attempts a realistic look which just makes Sims look like vacant, dead-eyed zombies. They also tend to react in ways that seem like they're not sane.
** The Sims in ''The Sims 2'' can be considered this as well. It's the extremely detailed teeth that do it, not to mention that some Sims lack ''eyebrows''...

While in ''The Sims 2'' they were realistically animated and proportioned proportioned, though animesque, while still having cartoonish facial expressions, ''The Sims 3'' attempts a realistic look which just look, but the cartoon shading and stylized design makes Sims them look like vacant, dead-eyed zombies. living dolls.
** The Sims in ''The Sims 2'' can be considered this as well. It's well due to the extremely detailed teeth over-the-top cartoony facial expressions at times that do it, not to mention that some Sims lack ''eyebrows''...clash with the realistically proportioned Animesque design.

** Is [=TS3=] awesome, or does it suck forever?forever? Though after the expansion packs were completed, The Sims 2 players accept that The Sims 3 is a great game on its own, poor optimizations aside.

* AnnoyingVideoGameHelper: The Nanny NPC can be like this. She usually will a) not take care of your children at all, instead she will bake cakes (and ignore them if the baby starts crying, thus causing a fire) or watch TV Or b) she will pay too much attention to the baby, waking them up to feed and bathe them (when their hunger or hygiene motives are full), and then putting them on the floor instead of in a crib.

* GirlShowGhetto: Averted. The series was never specifically aimed at girls but it was created as a "virtual dollhouse" and is one of the most popular franchises out there with female gamers. ''The Sims'' is one of the most profitable PC video game franchises out there and is well respected amongst gamers in general.

* MemeticMutation: [[http://ts4news.com/post/94541924952/89-features-missing-from-the-sims-4 A list of complaints about missing features in The Sims 4]] popped up containing the line "Babies are mere objects," which caught on pretty quickly.
* {{Mondegreen}}: Sometimes, the simlish actually sounds like they're saying something. Such as how some people having a pillow fight or playing with each other may sound like they're saying "Stop! Fuck you!" and "Fuck YOU!"

** Lilith Pleasant and Ripp Grunt, the famous [[TheUnfavourite unfavorites]]. Same for Joe [=MacDuff=], MuggleBornOfMages.

** The Newsons from ''Apartment Life''. They're a family of adopted children whose parents have died, and the two teens have to juggle school, caring for the younger ones and providing a steady income. Unless you move them in with an adult Sim of course.
** Vidcund Curious might also have been the unfavourite to his brothers. Compared to Pascal and Lazlo, Vidcund was never helped with his homework by his parents, and his girlfriend dumped him for Loki Beaker, which according to his memories is implied to be because of a bladder accident.

* EnsembleDarkhorse:
** Many players enjoy improving Lilith Pleasant's life, often at the expense of [[TheScrappy Angela's]].
** And it seems like some players like the Townie Goopy, maybe because of his name and his big nose.
** The Pleasantview Goths and Strangetown Curious family are pretty popular.
** Kaylynn Langerak was an NPC with a minor story role in ''The Sims 2'', but it made her popular enough to merit a promotion to playable character with her own extended family in ''The Sims 3''.
** There's a sizable minority of players who prefer to marry Mortimer to Kaylynn instead of his canonical wife, Bella, in ''The Sims 3''. The two most commonly cited reasons are Bella's ubiquitous place in the games getting annoying, and fans being upset by a throwaway comment in the PSP spin-off suggesting that Bella only married Mortimer for his money.
** Many players seem to enjoy developing Bailey Swain (a Moonlight Falls teen sim) to be much, much more awesome than the character that she's the {{Expy}} of, [[Literature/{{Twilight}} Bella Swan]].
** The Landgraabs originally appeared as the main antagonists of The Sims 1 console port, but has become popular enough to appear in every game afterward.

* FridgeHorror: How do male Sims give birth to their alien offspring? The only nearby orifice is... [[{{Squick}} NO.]]
* GeniusBonus:
** When Sims play chess, they move the chess pieces appropriately.
** Raise your hands if you know that ''mellifera'' is the second part of the ''Latin'' name for a family of honey bees. [[note]]Yep, the spell is technically a combination of pretentious Latin and ''real'' Latin. Though mellifera actually means ''honey-bearing''. You'd think the spell would result in the sim on the receiving end getting slimed by honey instead.[[/note]]

* JerkassWoobie:
** Nervous Subject. He might be a mean, antisocial slob with no sense of humour, but he was neglected as a child and used by his 'adoptive parents', the Beakers, who are also very mean, for experiments. He's a Family Sim, and is a far more capable babysitter than the nannies the game provides (though that may say more about [[GameBreakingBug the nannies]] than Nervous Subject himself).
** Agnes Crumplebottom is built out of this. She lost her husband as a young adult, and they were planning to have children. To make matters worse, the ghost of her husband is stated to have scared away any potential suitors, eventually making her the bitter and love-hating Miss Crumplebottom.
** Tybalt Capp, who lost both of his parents and his grandmother in a short period of time, as well as being a Popularity Sim with no friends outside his family.

* MarySue:
** Literally with Mary-Sue Pleasant, who actually turns out to be a {{deconstruction}} of the trope. She's so obsessed with her job that she doesn't notice her husband's affair with the maid, or the fact that her twin daughters hate each other.
** The majority of female Sims put on the Exchange have a description like "omg this is Jennifer she is so kewl and awesome and pretty please download!!!!!!11"
** To a lesser extent, Mary-Sue's daughter Angela could be considered this.
** "Jamie Jolina is an intelligent as she is beautiful. Can she prove to the world that two traits can coexist?"

Added DiffLines:

* {{Mondegreen}}: Sometimes, the simlish actually sounds like they're saying something. Such as how some people having a pillow fight or playing with each other may sound like they're saying "Stop! Fuck you!" and "Fuck YOU!"
