** Devon can arguably be considered this as well despite not being as serious, considering just how insecure he is in general. He's got very little friends in his social life aside from Morgan and Astral, regularly finds himself involved in Astral's schemes, has to tame both her and deal with her troublesome cousin Brendoni, and unlike Morgan, he doesn't handle the reveal of Astral and Brendoni being fairies (and in the latter's case, part-troll) very well. [[spoiler: And that's not even getting into them turning out to be his cousins or him being part-fairy, via ''his'' father being the brother of ''Astral's'' father, which turned everything he thought he knew about himself upside-down.]]

** And then there's Peaseblossom herself. She's a wise-cracking wood fairy who's [[WiseBeyondHerYears smarter then one would think and knows a lot about fairy kind and history despite her young age]] but she's also a loner and outcast with little-to-no companions. Before she met Winston and became his new companion and loyal friend, she had ''no one''. On top of that, for a long time she was the only fairy her age without wings and the other fairies would take great pleasure in mocking her for it. Her insecurities even serve as a major plot point in one episode! Add that to constantly being messed with by Versitude and constantly being brushed off by Athenia inhabitantants (other than Winston) and it's no wonder Peasey didn't want Winston to ever leave Athenia.

** Tristan: A good piece of the fandom sees him as a great, loyal companion, with a sensitive side and a good heart with the right amount of lovable traits and the perfect boy for Astral to get into a relationship with, and good use of the MysteriousPast in order for a second side of him to be revealed, but a handful of additional viewers view him as a SatelliteLoveInterest with little-to-no traits to make him stand out on his own. [[spoiler: The group in the former camp were especially unhappy about Tristan's big reveal as a fairy prince of Spartania getting little-to-no content or explanation thanks to the series being CutShort.]]

* CriticalDissonance: On Website/IMDb, where the show has a 5.5 score, very few reviewers gave the show a rating, and few who did were not exactly fans (especially if one were to read some the comments, some of which were posted when the series was still on the air). Google reviewers are far more pleasant towards the show, praising the show's unique aspects and wishing the series wasn't shown to the door so abruptly.

* VindicatedByHistory: Back when the series was on the air, a couple of viewers weren't exactly pleased with the show, calling it a knock-off of Disney's ''WesternAnimation/StarVsTheForcesOfEvil'' due to the two shows have a similar premise. However, after the show was taken off the air, and ''Star vs. Evil'''s polarizing GrandFinale several years later, the hatred for ''The Other Kingdom'' began to die down as those viewers realized the show definitely had some unique aspects to it and had some potential to be great in its own right.

* MoralEventHorizon: While selling out Athenia and secretly allying with Spartanian King Reed behind the king and queen's back is definitely a heinous act on its own, Versitude truly showcases just how depraved she can be when she remorselessly locks Astral and her friends inside the school gym, knowing Astral and Brendoni would be unable to use their powers to escape during the solar eclipse, and that Athenia was at risk of being bulldozed and destroyed at the time. If it hadn't been for Winston volunteering to slow down the bulldozers and buy the fairies some time, Athenia would have been destroyed before Astral and her teammates could escape. It was also made clear that not all of the Athenians would have been able to evacuate in time. If any of the residents were caught in the destruction and died with Athenia, Versitude would have been at fault for that, not that she would have cared.

** '''Tristan''' is one of the show's biggest woobies. Let us count the ways. [[spoiler: First, he's aware that he has fairy abilities, but he has no idea of his own personal identity or just where he originates from, or even some of his true past. He would also constantly have to move (possibly due to exposing his powers to mortals), and is forced to act like a normal teenager and hide his powers from the "others". He's constantly playing the NiceGuy card while hiding his true nature. Then constantly has to tag along with Hailey as his boyfriend -- despite her mostly hanging out with him for status rather then genuinely liking him -- and tolerate her impatience and rowdy ways. And ''then'' when he develops a fondness for Astral due to her love of nature and care for the world, Astral would eventually reveal her fairy heritage to her, allowing him to ''finally'' reveal his fairy identity and they'd officially become an item... [[YankTheDogsChain but then he'd learn the hard way that he was the long-lost prince of Spartania destined to bring chaos to Athenia. Tristan clearly doesn't want to go through this, and is forcibly taken away by his father King Reed against his will back to Spartania to do who-knows-what and leave the girl of his dreams behind.]]]] This kid's had a rough life.
