* RonTheDeathEater: ''Videl''. Despite the fact that has certainly developed into the CreatorsPet, she started off as this. Her negative qualities were more or less amplified for the sake of telling the story, and as the author doesn't take many cues from the anime, any development she'd gained there was cut for the sake of taking the manga representation and running with it in a way that rubs Videl's surprisingly vocal fanbase wrong.

* AngstWhatAngst: Explicitly ''defied''. This is a story where the early parts could be summed up as "What if 7 years wasn't enough to mend the wounds left by Goku's passing?". At the end of the Cell Arc, the main cast fairly bereaved when Goku chose to stay dead, and in fact some of their life choices were based around Goku's death, but in canon, they're all over it by the time he shows back up, without any mention of it whatsoever. The early part of the story focuses on this ''immensely'', with Gohan still feeling guilty for his father's death, especially in the wake of being an older brother to a younger brother that never knew their father, and Chi-Chi, as rocky as their relationship was, loves and misses Goku.

* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: See examples such as AngstWhatAngst and RonTheDeathEater below, but the Erased Chronicles is by no means unfamiliar with stretching character thin in other directions for the sake of its plot.

* ContinuityLockout: The Erased Chronicles honestly runs on this. It takes place from the ''Majin Boo'' arc of the series onward. Bear in mind that this was the ''last arc of the original manga''. Meaning if fans who haven't read up to this part of the ''Dragon Ball'' series attempt to pick up the fanfic, they will be very lost.
* CreatorsPet: ''Videl'' of all people seems to be playing this role to the author. While the two focal characters get their own fair share of development, and definitely got the lion's share of awesome powers, ''Videl'' is the character who seems to receive the most character development in the Erased Chronicles, and receives more and more focus as the series goes on, firmly placing her in the realm of a tritagonist.
* CriticalBacklash: You can't please everybody, and the Erased Chronicles is proof of that. Despite not being the best story, it has a surprisingly good following, but those who have complaints make their complaints ''known''. The author makes several decisions, [[spoiler:such as keeping Vegeta dead]], that ruffle the jimmies of more than simply one person.

* SavedByTheFans: The Erased Chronicles explicitly defies this trope. [[spoiler: The deaths of Vegeta and Kuririn have not sat well with some fans, neither is the continued lack of Son Gokū. Despite this, no amount of complaints from the fans is going to result in their revival.]] Despite this occurring in the source material, if someone dies in the Erased Chronicles, and the author wants them to ''stay'' dead, they aren't coming back, Dragon Balls be damned

The term is Super Saiyan Fourth Grade

* FlipFlopOfGod: In an earlier chapter, the author described the Mastered Super Saiyan form (or Super Saiyan Fourth Grade) as feeling "warm," like a sauna. However, when Gohan transformed into a Super Saiyan in chapter 54, the "tingling feeling" from ''Dragon Ball Super'' was mentioned, despite never having been alluded to before. It ''was'', however, described as familiar, [[HandWave implying it had always been there and just never mentioned.]]

* SubbingVersusDubbing: This argument somehow manages to ''rear its bloody head'' in the reviews section of a fanfiction, due to the fact that some readers (along with a particularly vocal asshole) dislike the author's use of dub terms. The author, however, is very much in favour of the sub, and other readers appear to be neutral.

**[[spoiler: This continues even further ten years after the events of the Majin Boo arc. Similarly to Chi-Chi, Bulma misses Vegeta very much, but is conflicted on her feelings for her late husband due to the fact that he deliberately and ''maliciously'' attacked a crowd of people in which she was a part of. Despite this, claiming to be a friend of Vegeta is enough to get in her good graces, and it could be said that she's done everything she has in the past ten years out of a sense of loss for her husband.]]

Is she a well-written character who plays off Gohan well, and an example of a strong Earthling done right, or a half-assed attempt to replace Videl, given AssPull powers she shouldn't know how to wield? It's a mixed bag for some.
