* ClicheStorm: There are some people that view Asterisk War as a completely unoriginal series that doesn't use tropes familiar to its demographic in an interesting way.

* CriticalBacklash: While it is mostly agreed that the show is deserving of the criticisms aimed at it, there are some people who feel as if the the hate it receives is completely irrational. Despite the anime fandom generally agreeing that it isn't a good show, some don't find the immense amount of hatred it gets to be completely justifiable. Even with all of its faults some people think that going into great detail on why it sucks is going too far when all the show really is is another generic light novel adaptation. * VanillaProtagonist: One of the biggest criticisms towards this series is the main protagonist Ayato is one of the blandest lead characters in recent anime. This is one heck of an accomplishment especially considering that light novel adaptations have managed to produce some of the [[LightNovel/SwordArtOnline most]] [[LightNovel/InfiniteStratos controversial]] [[LightNovel/TheIrregularAtMagicHighSchool lead characters]] in recent memory. Ayato however manages to be a mix of every single bland anime protagonist in the recent years to the point where some have found him to be even less human than [[LightNovel/SwordArtOnline Kirito]] or [[LightNovel/TheIrregularAtMagicHighSchool Tatsuya]].
