** Is King Radical an AntiVillain, a hero, or a VillainWithGoodPublicity? He is doing his best to make the world as a whole (and Cumberland) in particular a more awesome place in which to live, but he acts like a mafia don and recruits criminals. In the "All the King's Dirtbikes and All the King's Men" arc, it's revealed that Rad is [[spoiler:trying to transform Doc's world into a new Radical land, but is actually a version of Chuck Goodrich]], flipping the scale back and forth between villainous and heroic.

** The Doctor is trained to fight in his sleep, Gordito ended up with a black eye and he mentioned waking up killing goons once thanks to this training. Fortunately the president has agents with [[http://drmcninja.com/archives/comic/30p05/ gentlest of hands]] so it's not a problem.

* HeartwarmingInHindsight: In one of the early arcs, Doc tries to solve a mystery by asking himself "What would ''Batman'' do". [[spoiler: In "AWOL MD" we learn that he does things like that because he loved Batman comics growing up and they inspired him to the hero and nice guy he is today.]]
* HilariousInHindsight: Creator/KateBeaton's guest comic had [=McNinja=] not knowing what do to his [[http://drmcninja.com/archives/comic/12p3 potato garden]]. Flash forward 2 years to the Army of One storyline, where it turns out the clone in charge of learning agriculture didn't make it to the amalgamation.
** For the author, [[http://drmcninja.com/archives/comic/21p30 this page]], since it was written days before the US President's announcement of the death of Osama Bin Laden, public enemy number one, and happened to be posted twelve hours afterward. For everyone else, it felt like it was RippedFromTheHeadlines (unless they had only just found out from the AltText).

* JerkassWoobie: King Radical. He just wants to make the world a cooler place, and when he talks to Dr. [=McLuchador=][[spoiler:/[=McNinja=]]] about Radical Land, you can almost ''feel'' the longing in the text. ''Almost'' had another example in a recent comic when [[spoiler: Herschel explodes]] and looks terrified, but is overjoyed by his replacement.

** ''Army of One'' ends on the intriguing note that Frans Rayner now knows what Doc looks like without his mask on. This is only brought up as a very minor plot point in the last story arc, where Rayner is able to confirm that various characters ''aren't'' Doc.

* ValuesDissonance: Early in the comic, characters would casually throw around insults like ''gay'' or ''retarded.'' This was thankfully dropped around the switch to color.

* WhatDoYouMeanItWasntMadeOnDrugs: Really just the whole thing, but lampshaded by the author [[http://drmcninja.com/archives/comic/25p92/ with the introduction of King Radical's henchmen]], the {{Dubstep}} Quartet.

* HarsherInHindsight: At the end of "Futures Trading", he tells [[spoiler:the older Gordito and Sean that he looks forward to seeing them in twenty years (sort of); considering his fate in the ending, they won't recognize him at all even if he did meet them again]].

* WhatAnIdiot: The president landing Marine One on the Radbot's hand and not even bothering to keep it running just in case Rad should decide to...you know...move the hand. This even lampshaded in the alt-text. Similarly, assuming that King Radical would be willing to hand over the Radbot in exchange for a simple case of Mountain Dew Code Red. To be fair, Radical didn't actually go back on his word, that just doesn't mean he'll stop Ron from doing it for him.

* TastesLikeDiabetes: The appropriately titled chapter, "Judy gets a kitten". Because [[CuteKitten kittens are cute]].

* FoeYay:
** Doc and Hortense. They ''are'' exes after all.
** Also, Doc and Frans. And Dan and Frans. Everyone's gay for Frans?
** Now, Doc and [[spoiler: King Radical]].

* CrazyAwesome:

** It would be easier to list what ''isn't'' CrazyAwesome in this comic. But then, that's probably mostly uninteresting stuff.

* CrossesTheLineTwice: Happens ''a lot''. The ending of "Judy Gets A Kitten" is probably the best example. [[spoiler: If you think you could never laugh at a Velociraptor trying to eat a kitten, you're wrong.]]
