From Titanosaurus’ tail shake that causes rubble to fly all over to the buildings blowing up by Mechagodzilla’s finger middles and eye beams, it’s a visual treat to behold.

"Clair de Lune" can be heard in the background during a café scene involving Ichinose and Katsura. Now "Clair de Lune" is used in the trailer for ''Film/GodzillaKingOfTheMonsters2019''.''Film/GodzillaKingOfTheMonsters2019''.
** Godzilla, who is modeled after ''Tyrannosaurus,'' battles Titanosaurus, who greatly resembles ''Spinosaurus,'' a full 26 years before ''Film/JurassicParkIII'' made SpinosaurusVersusTRex a common trope.
** Speaking of ''Spinosaurus'', in 2020 it was determined that this dinosaur possessed an unusual paddle-like tail, suited to an aquatic lifestyle. Titanosaurus has a similar structure on its tail, decades before paleontology would support such a concept.

* FridgeBrilliance: Scientists not believing Mafune's story of a dinosaur in Japan seems silly at first, considering how kaiju attacks are taken as everyday occurrences in the '70s films, until you remember that his initial discovery of Titanosaurus took place fifteen years prior. People would still often react with "A giant monster? Surely you're joking!" well into the 1960s, especially considering that fifteen years would've made it 1960 - Major events like ''Film/{{Mothra}}'' and ''Film/KingKongVsGodzilla'' hadn't even happened yet.
** That, and considering Japan had already suffered the wrath of two Godzillas, two Rodans, Anguirus, and Varan (plus two Mogueras and their accompanying alien invaders), perhaps the scientific community were ProperlyParanoid, and were in denial about the possibility of such events happening again.
** What actually seemed to have gotten Dr. Mafune excommunicated from the scientific community was his claim that he could control Titanosaurus and by extension ''all of sea life.'' Imagine the kind of power Japan would possess -- except this is the exact kind of scenario Dr. Serizawa feared if his Oxygen Destroyer device ever saw widespread use as a weapon. Perhaps their scorning of Dr. Mafune was the scientific community taking heed of Serizawa's fear and sacrifice.

* TrueArtIsAngsty: It’s often highly regarded as one of the best films from the Showa era and an underrated gem within the series overall. It’s also the bleakest entry of the Showa era since the original, dealing with darker themes like the loss of identity and how the lust for revenge can consume a grieving man.

* EnsembleDarkHorse: Titanosaurus has gotten a lot of love from the fandom for its unique design and tragic backstory. Alongside Gorosaurus and Varan, Titanosaurus is probably the most popular kaiju from the Showa series to not appear in any film since (especially because, unlike Gorosaurus and Varan, Titanosaurus has only appeared in a single film).

* VindicatedByHistory: It has its flaws, as do all Godzilla movies to various levels. This film had the lowest box office attendance but is well liked by many fans today, mainly due to EnsembleDarkhorse Titanosaurus, it’s darker themes and the large amount of SceneryGorn during the final act.

* NarmCharm: The film's final shot - Godzilla's wave as he heads back to sea. Cheesy? Oh, yeah. But considering It would have been just another ending, seeing as how there are a number of unmade films and proposed treatments that would have seen the series continuing through the 1970's with a shorter hiatus, if any hiatus at all, but all this was not to be. Considering that it would be another 10 years until Toho made another Godzilla movie, it's the ending's a bit poignant.

* TrueArtIsAngsty: This is easily the darkest entry in the Showa series since [[Film/Godzilla1954 the original]], and one of the most highly praised entires in the series with themes such as loss of identity and how revenge can consume a grieving man to a path of destruction.
