But here is the thing, darkness has two meanings, one being the absence of light the other one being wickedness. At first, the twins thought their uncle's darkness was referring to the first definition, and the opposite of that is light. Of course the darkness in this context was actually referring to wickedness and of course love is the opposite of wickedness.
