General clarification on work content

** Much like sequel series ''WesternAnimation/JusticeLeague'', it also tended to reflect the state of DC Comics a lot of the time, hence Kyle as GL, ComicBook/WallyWest as the Flash, and Supergirl not being a blood cousin of Superman.

* {{Adorkable}}: It's very downplayed compared to most versions of the character, but Jimmy gets adorably awkward when he's shy or embarrassed.
* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation:
** Livewire's deserving of sympathy or lack thereof. Now, the main view is that she's a belligerent mean-spirited bigot who became a supervillain because of her own suicidal stupidity, and she has no right to be angry with Superman, having "saved her life after all." However, her last facial expression before the lightning strike conveys the emotional expression of [[DeathSeeker someone gleefully anticipating a lethal event]]. Some might argue that Superman stole that from her, not to mention that she accidentally lost her biological humanity in the process (not that she often seems bothered by her new metahuman status, brief moments of revenge-seeking for it aside).

* EvilIsCool:
** The series leans into the Post-Crisis conception of Lex Luthor as a CorruptCorporateExecutive VillainWithGoodPublicity, which combined with a stellar voice performance by Creator/ClancyBrown makes for a thoroughly enjoyable villain oozing with charisma, smugness and menace.
** Likewise, Lobo is an AxCrazy PsychoForHire, but also a LaughablyEvil IronButtMonkey whose antics are backed up by a tight rock & roll leitmotif. You couldn't ask for a more entertaining antagonist.

* {{Narm}}:
** While the voice acting for the main characters is generally top-notch, the bystanders often heard commenting during crowd shots is often noticeably underacted. This can lead to scenes like Parasite absorbing Superman's energy in "[[Recap/SupermanTheAnimatedSeriesS1E6FeedingTime Feeding Time]]" being ruined a bit by a nearby bystander shouting a cheesy "Oh, good heavens!" in complete DullSurprise.
** The music can also ruin a scene. An intense and dramatic scene of Superman being temporarily blinded and smacked around in [[Recap/SupermanTheAnimatedSeriesS2E21Prototype "Prototype"]] should not be scored by sporadic piano music more appropriate for a WesternAnimation/LooneyTunes short.
** Superman's RoaringRampageOfRevenge on Apokolips in [[Recap/SupermanTheAnimatedSeriesS3E12E13Legacy "Legacy"]] comes to an unintentionally hilarious halt when the Furies appear and Superman actually tries to ignore them '''after''' he got done killing a bunch of Parademons with his heat vision, so they just attack him anyway and he actually lets them cling to him as they try to kill him and he continues to allow them to go on attacking him until he just crashes into a nearby statue. His encounter with Granny Goodness is also pretty bad and ends up not being as chilling as it was meant to be. TV censorship at its worst.

** As it is Superman and ClarkKenting is the rule, it's also entirely possible that it's an OpenSecret. Jimmy and Lois know but are too polite to say anything, with Lex Luthor knowing that attacking civilian Clark Kent would be bad form (a VillainWithGoodPublicity has to keep up an image, after all)

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: Metallo could in no way be considered a sympathetic character, as he was an unrepentant criminal even before becoming a ManOfKryptonite. However, his anger towards Lex Luthor for taking away his humanity is still very understandable and relatable since Lex took away all his human sensations and left him in a cold, robotic shell, unable to taste, touch, or feel anything. Despite making many appearances, Metallo never again tries to go after Lex and suffers a big case of MotiveDecay after his first appearance and even by the time of ''JLU'', Metallo doesn't even try to raise so much as a single protest when Grodd invites Lex to join the LegionOfDoom. The subplot of Metallo wanting revenge against Luthor is never brought up again for the rest of the on-screen series proper and when it ''does'' get re-visited, it typically happens in SchrodingersCanon works like the ''S:TAS'' comics or in DCAU-based video games that may not even be official canon.

** In the episode "Double Dose", Livewire would free Parasite for a VillainTeamup and later on, she would be betrayed by Parasite and drained by him as a barely concealed metaphor for rape. In the new series ''WesternAnimation/MyAdventuresWithSuperman'', the latest version of Livewire would end up freeing Parasite again as part of a breakout and this time, she touches him in a consensual manner to empower Parasite and turn him into a giant kaiju-sized monster to go on a rampage in the episode "Zero Day, Part 2".

** A large number of people thought that Lex Luthor was supposed to be reimagined as a black man and {{Race Lift}}ed back to white during ''WesternAnimation/JusticeLeague''. In reality, he was always white and the reason he seemed AmbiguouslyBrown was due to being modeled on Greek-American actor Creator/TellySavalas (hence the tanner skin and fuller lips) and voiced with the BadassBaritone of Creator/ClancyBrown (who himself is white).

* WhatAnIdiot:
** "[[Recap/SupermanTheAnimatedSeriesS3E1WhereTheresSmoke Where There's Smoke]]" has a [[FourEyesZeroSoul Mook]] armed with a laser pistol that ''could'' at least stun Superman if it's as Badass as he thinks it is.\\
'''You'd Think:''' He unloads on Superman from behind while he's distracted with another high-tech mook and let the EvilPlan go on without a hitch.\\
'''Instead:''' The [[SarcasmMode genius]] decides to pull a Film/DirtyHarry and lovingly describe said weapon without firing a shot.\\
'''Result:''' [[CombatPragmatist Supes]] averts TalkingIsAFreeAction by zipping up to him in mid-sentence, breaks the gun and is made to talk ''by the precariously spacious window behind him.''
** In "[[Recap/SupermanTheAnimatedSeriesS2E14GhostInTheMachine Ghost in the Machine]]", Lex Luthor is unveiling an anti-missile weapon with the press and high ranking military officers in attendance.\\
'''You'd Expect:''' He would have the missile fired at a target far away from them and just have them watch the weapon shoot the missiles down.\\
'''Instead:''' He has two actual missiles fired ''at the building they're currently in''. And apparently has no backup plans such as remote detonation or anything else to stop the missiles after the weapon malfunctions as a result of sabotage. There's arrogance and then there's suicidal overconfidence.
** Everytime Parasite is around. He has the ability to gain people's powers and thoughts, but only for a limited time.\\
'''You'd Expect:''' Knowing this limitation, he would start taking written notes of his discoveries, especially when he absorbs Superman's powers and learns his secret identity, Clark Kent.\\
'''Instead:''' He doesn't exploit his knowledge for anything but a bit of EvilGloating.
** "[[Recap/SupermanTheAnimatedSeriesS2E22TheLateMrKent The Late Mr. Kent]]" has Clark researching a murder from years ago and suggesting that the man convicted, Earnest Walker, wasn't actually guilty. The actual murderer, [[spoiler: Detective Bowman]], learns of this.\\
'''You'd Expect:''' For the murderer to not do anything. At the time they learned this they didn't have anything to suggest that Clark actually ''would'' find anything to clear Walker, let alone lead them to the real murderer. Besides which, murdering a reporter investigating the case would convince everyone that Clark had been right and probably make the Daily Planet do a very public investigation.\\
'''Instead:''' The murderer planted a bomb in Clark's car and put a very traceable bug on his phone. As if that wasn't enough, the murderer put a bomb in Clark's apartment and stuck around to watch it blow up. Really [[spoiler: Bowman on his own]] did more than Superman and Lois put together to reveal the truth.
