See Broken Base... there's division on whether it actually makes it harder or even easier.

** While the addition of "Expert Mode" is seen as a plus for X, given it answered the complaint of recent Super Robot Wars installments being deemed too easy, consensus about its scriptwriting is mixed. The divide is heavily based on whether one's first impression of the story is on the Earth or space routes, as the majority of the plot-relevant shows are on the former, with Crossover elements between them more tightly interwoven, but events on the space routes consist almost entirely of situations isolated strictly to Franchise/Gundam properties with little-to-no bearing on the main plot. Therefore, Earth routes provide a positive view of the game's story, while the space routes are seen as a disorganized mess; it also doesn't help that all of the secrets players have to actively hunt for are fixed to space route scenarios (this includes a general consensus these secrets aren't worth chasing, with most of them obtained either very early into a play-through or on a joint route).

* InternetBackdraft: Super Robot Wars X had a short development cycle - this shows not only in rehashing series from V, but also in the amount of new assets created; in particular, the majority of the playable units from Reconguista in G. Many of the Mobile Suits used by the supporting cast (including Secret Characters) only have two attacks at their disposal; contrast this to the "G-Self", the protagonist machine with a full attack set. Upon discovering this, players voiced their discontent, leading to X earning the derogatory FanNickname "Two Attack Wars X".

Removed italicization. It makes the characters almost unrecognizable.

** With Anime/MashinHeroWataruSeries being heavily integrated to the series' semi-Magical Fantasy setting and Cybaster guest-starring, there are a lot that lamented that Manga/MagicKnightRayearth was included to the franchise one title too late, since many believed in the potential of crossover of the three TrappedInAnotherWorld (magical one) series (for instance, the Mashin is spelled similarly to the Rune Gods; the Elemental Lords are also based on ElementalPowers, similar to the Rune Gods), while the detached series debuts as noted in ContestedSequel might have benefitted more in the next game. * CatharsisFactor: The ability to kill Embryo nineteen times in the final route split is so satisfying. Furthermore, those who found the original Anime/CrossAnge plot offensive and disastrous, will be surprised at how it's handled in this game via the IF ending.
* ContestedSequel: While the addition of "Expert Mode" is seen as a plus for X, given it answered the complaint of recent Super Robot Wars installments being deemed too easy, consensus about its scriptwriting is mixed. It also doesn't help that all of the secrets that players have to actively hunt for are on the space route stages and general consensus is that they're just terrible and that the rest of the secrets are obtained either very early in the game, or on a joint route.
** How certain individual series were handled is also contested. While returning entries such as Cross Ange were generally percieved as well done, as X showed a greater willingness to experiment with its roster and their respective plots for a Crossover, the portrayal of Reconguista in G and especially Buddy Complex has received much less positive reception, made worse by how this game was their debut.

Often the series is relegated to PostScriptSeason due to its Isekai plot, but the nature of X's setting of Al-Warth is practically an Isekai of its own and so Byston Well could have easily been made into part of the setting via FusionFic. Instead Show, Marvel and Todd just hang around the rest of the heroes without much to do.

* SurprisinglyImprovedSequel: With regards to localization - X isn't the first Super Robot Wars to receive an English option. The game has no official release for Anglophone territories, yet previous efforts at putting this language in could best be described as "serviceable". However, the team assembled by Creator/BandaiNamcoEntertainment for X was made up of long-time Super Robot Wars fans (including a PromotedFangirl from the FanTranslation of Super Robot Wars Alpha Gaiden). This is showcased by the quality of the English script, considered a high watermark for the franchise and contributed heavily to X becoming an underground success and its growing English fanbase, even bringing lapsed players back in.

* Moe: Amari is a total cutie-pie. Moe points include her timid attitude (at least in the beginning, before she start racking up her own resolves), her really cute and fluffy outfit (which includes a headband that looks like cat ears), and topped with the soft voice provided by Creator/SatomiSato. There's a lot of players that picked her over the more divisive Iori (detailed here) because of those reasons.
