** This is the biggest complaint for season 8. Despite the longer run time for each episode, there are only eight episodes instead of the standard thirteen. This caused the overall flow of the season's plot to be both short and slow due to how the first half of the story where Sonic and co. make game gets completely derailed and never mentioned again once Eggman's daugher comes into play. It also doesn't help that unlike other seasons, the gang rarely explores other video game worlds; mainly venturing in only VideoGame/SonicMania and VideoGame/IceClimbers.

I feel like spoilers:Tails wasn't supposed to be liked during Season 4, and thus doesn't count as The Scrappy.

* TheScrappy: when he TookALevelInJerkass in Season 4. He even pointed out InUniverse how he didn't really like that phase in Season 7.
** RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap: On the other hand, he did regained a bit of popularity by becoming his old self again.

** Some have viewed Season 4 as this, with the KafkaComedy being cranked up to eleven to the point that the antics Sonic gets into feel more depressing than they are funny. Most of this can be attributed to , who takes absolute glee in making Sonic's life a living hell.

* StarTrekMovieCurse: While Seasons 1 & 2 don't count in this regard, it seems to be a trend that starting with Season 3, odd-numbered seasons (3, 5, and 7) are seen as high-quality material for the series, while even-numbered seasons (4, 6, and 8) are riddled with material that the fans don't like.

* UnintentionalPeriodPiece: Several jokes thrown throughout the earlier season can come off as very dated. One specific example is the Angry Birds one, which pokes fun at the app's enormous popularity at the time (Summer 2011).
