The latter having him decide to [[spoiler:spare Jack and give up shows he reached his limits in that scenario]] while the former indicates [[spoiler:his willingness to order Jack be killed shows he will still do what he has to for his cause in the film.end]]—with each decision having the opposite effect too. It's definitely represented how that one choice makes all the difference in the outcome while who Nugent is presented as is still very much intact either way.
