* TearJerker: Obviously, a ton.
** Zeha's parents both died when he was a child and no one ever told him how, which Hupo later takes advantage of. A flashback shows him walking alone at the high-school entrance after his graduation [[AloneAmongFamilies while other kids receive hugs and flower bouquets from their proud parents]].
*** He's the only survivor of the attack on Inwang Mountain.
*** He struggles to fight a single Beom in Episode 3, then gets robbed and bullied by the Tiger Butterfly.
** Dogeon's siblings died in their [[OneLastJob last attempt to rob an armored car.]] His sister Gahyeon dies in his arms while he fails do do anything about it.
** In Episode 13: The mention of Narae, minor but pivotal character who turned against the Beom to defend the humans. It shows how some Beom have actual remorse for their actions, but are convinced into think that humans are unforgivable monsters. Even worse, she's [[spoiler:Jooan's girfriend, the one that Bulti killed]]!
** Hwan's sister gets kidnapped by Bulti at the introduction of his character arc. [[spoiler:She's found dead-- or at least [[NeverFoundTheBody implied]] to be dead at the end of Chapter 16.]]
** Hosu spends a ton of time in prison being tortured and prepared as food. He [[TookALevelInBadass gets better]], though.
** Zeha blaming himself for so many people being killed because he was responsible for breaking the seal. Thankfully, his team members assure him that it was really Hupo's fault.
** While starting out lighthearted, the conversation at the ice cream place in Episode 26 changes into Jooan asking Dogeon about how the latter can smile so easily despite losing his friends. Dogeon honestly replies that he thinks of his friends all the time, and that they would have wanted him to live a good life just like he would have wanted the same for them if their roles were reversed. Jooan quietly wonders if Narae would hate him for living a life without her.
** In episode 28, it becomes clear not only that Heoseo was a close friend of Narae, but that ''he has no idea that she's dead''. He's genuinely happy to meet the kid Narae had befriended and was excited to be with once the seal broke. It's Jooan who has to break the news that Narae is dead. Heoseo's reaction is complete shock, and he asks Jooan while trembling if Jooan killed her, only to be shocked further in to momentary speechlessness when he learns that Bulti killed her. After asking Jooan where Bulti is, he simply says "I'm sorry" and leaves.
*** There's also how, despite knowing that Bulti hated the Gom more than anyone, Heoseo had never ''imagined'' that Bulti would kill one of his own. This really puts Bulti's (and Maro's) actions in disobeying Hupo's orders to kill painlessly, as well as their callousness towards the Beom under their command, into an ever darker light.

* BrokenBase: Downplayed. General reception is somewhat mixed, with most criticism being on the awkward pacing and serious tone that pushes too much emphasis on fight scenes and stretches them to more panels than they really need to be, with [[CharacterDevelopment character development]] and [[WorldBuilding world building]] stretched a little too thin. Later, the series [[GrowingTheBeard grew the mane a little]] and picked up pacing, with some [[ComicRelief comic relief]] and stories from the [[ADayInTheLimelight villains' point of view]].

* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: The main theme of the comic, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzjTpCgfIII "Stay Alive" by Jung Kook and produced my SUGA]], is sweeping slow-paced, and dramatic, with an eerie, but confident air created by a great blend of echoing synths and [[OrchestralBombing strings]]. It really does help set the tragic but persevering mood of the tale, especially where it debuts in Episode 4.

** Another one worth noting is in the [[ArtShift art shift]] scene at the beginning of Episode 1, the face of a Beom which is so raw and dynamic that it ended up on the cover of "Stay Alive".
