* EvilIsSexy: Donut downright describes Chrovos as having turned into "a big and sexy frightening lady". Viewers reacted the same way, with Lee Eddy's portrayal helping a lot.

Authors Saving Throw is now a Trivia trope and thus requires input from Word Of God.

* AuthorsSavingThrow: While there's still quite a BrokenBase debating over how well it was or wasn't executed, one of the main points of praise for ''The Shisno Trilogy'' has been how it has provided a story arc [[ADayInTheLimelight focused primarily on Red Team]], whereas the previous story arcs (particularly ''The Project Freelancer Saga'') were criticized for [[TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter underutilizing the Red Team]] and instead [[SpotlightStealingSquad focusing almost entirely on the Freelancers and Blue Team]].

* AuthorsSavingThrow:
** One of the biggest complaints about Season 15 was the frequent use of references and meta humor. While this season does still have jokes of this type, they're not used nearly as much.
** Additionally, the complaint that Season 15 was standalone and not related to any larger arcs was responded to in that not only would ''The Shisno Paradox'' be a multi-season arc stretching over two seasons, but that [[spoiler:some ArcWelding would later reveal Loco's time machine in Season 15 was the result of [[GreaterScopeVillain Chrovos]]]].
** Some fans complained about Season 16 [[OutsideContextProblem introducing truly supernatural elements into the series]] in the form of the Cosmic Powers went against the previously grounded sci-fi elements seen in previous seasons. It's eventually revealed that the Cosmic Powers [[spoiler:are actually [[RoboticReveal hyper-advanced A.I.s]] perpetuating a {{God Guise}}]].

* AuthorsSavingThrow:
** Two of the criticisms raised against ''The Shisno Paradox'' were that despite being one of the ostensible main character of the season and prominently featured in the marketing, Donut [[AdvertisedExtra didn't have that many lines or scenes]], and his HeelFaceTurn in "Paradox" came across as something of an AssPull [[EasilyForgiven due to how mean the Blood Gulch Crew had previously been to him]]. Here, Donut is given the central focus from the first episode onward, to the point where he really ''is'' the protagonist of ''Singularity''. Additionally, Donut goes through significant CharacterDevelopment and gains much more of a spine (with him no longer accepting the crap that everyone else throws at him), to the point where he gives a ''vicious'' TheReasonYouSuckSpeech to the rest of the Blood Gulch Crew before they all bury the hatchet by the end of the season.
*** Relatedly, many fans last season were initially excited with the idea for a female villain in this series when [[TheDreaded Kalirama]] was first introduced, but were disappointed when the male [[TopGod King Atlus]] instead took the reins for most of the story and Chrovos (who had a male voice) later became the overarching antagonist. In ''Singularity'', Chrovos [[GenderBender takes on a female voice and form]] voiced by fan-favorite Lee Eddy, and also has either female or gender-neutral pronouns used throughout most of the season.
** [[invoked]] In response to the many complaints raised against Tucker over the last few seasons, "Succession" has Tucker actually acknowledge this to Genkins and him going through CharacterRerailment to be more like how he was acting during ''The Chorus Trilogy'', with him even willingly deferring to Donut's position as the new team leader.
** The kerfuffle raised over the {{Retcon}} last season concerning the definition of "Shisno" is resolved here by Chrovos explaining that the term being used for their servants comes from a prophecy by the alien Fates (who are [[MakesJustAsMuchSenseInContext apparently racist]]).
** [[spoiler:Huggins surviving Genkins' black hole is this on two levels - Not only were many fans happy to see one of the most popular characters of the previous season come back, but others were happy to see one of the only openly LGBT characters in the entire series not only be confirmed to still be alive, but also have CompleteImmortality (meaning the show wouldn't ever be able to BuryYourGays in her case)]].

AS per TRS, removing misuse.

** Many felt that Temple's character arc was handled poorly, as Episodes 12 and 13 managed to set him up as a WellIntentionedExtremist antagonist who [[WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds has a legitimately sympathetic motive for wanting revenge on the Freelancers]] and actually [[VillainHasAPoint had a point about the UNSC needing to answer for their treatment of their own soldiers]], yet ultimately turned out to be a purely evil, unsympathetic CardCarryingVillain who practically reveled in how evil he was, before going out like a cowardly wimp. To make matters worse, his shockingly tragic backstory, which gave his motivations context, is never brought up again, nor are Carolina and Wash ever told as to why Temple hated the Freelancers and wanted to kill them all, so we never see Carolina actually voice regret over her actions or even have recognition of who he was.

None

* ContestedSequel: The trilogy is ''very'' heavily debated in regards to quality. Season 15 and ''The Shisno Paradox'' both were accused by many of being the point where the series entered SeasonalRot, thanks to its DenserAndWackier nature, {{reference overdose|d}}, and wasting and/or mishandling of characters in favor of humor. While ''Singularity'' was [[WinBackTheCrowd far better received]] in terms of story, characters, and overall quality, for a not-insignificant group of fans the proverbial damage had already been done, with many having considered this trilogy the series' lowest point until the release of the considerably more disliked ''Red Vs. Blue: Zero''.

** The trilogy over all received criticism for being DenserAndWackier than the much more [[WebAnimation/RedVsBlueTheRecollection grounded]] [[WebAnimation/RedVsBlueTheProjectFreelancerSaga prior]] [[WebAnimation/RedVsBlueTheChorusTrilogy seasons]]. [[WebAnimation/RedVsBlueTheBloodGulchChronicles The Blood Gulch Chronicles]] however was just as wacky however, having bizarre details like a bomb blowing the group into the future, Tucker being impregnated by an alien, O'Malley being a CardCarryingVillain obsessed with galactic conquest, etc., making this trilogy more akin to RevisitingTheRoots. Many noted however that the [[ContestedSequel divisive]] nature of the trilogy is largely due to ''The Shisno Paradox'' letting it ruin the pacing and characterization in service of a joke, with Tucker being the main victim.

Critical Research Failure is a disambiguation page

* CriticalResearchFailure: In episode 20, Gene claims that he'll 'Darth Maul' this and come back in 'some shitty video game', a line improvised by Gus. This has made even casual ''Star Wars'' fan scratch their heads in confusion as to what he is referring to. While it is possible he cold be referring to a Darth Maul game that never got out of pre-production due to the Disney buyout, the only thing that would make sense, is if Gus either somehow mistook ''WesternAnimation/StarWarsTheCloneWars'', an animated series, for a video game or if he thought Darth Maul came back to life in ''VideoGame/TheForceUnleashed'', when that game only featured a character impersonating him.

* {{Misblamed}}: The writer of this season, Joe Nicolosi, came under fire for certain lines that were seen as [[OutOfCharacterMoment out-of-character]] (like Sarge saying “YOLO”) or [[CriticalResearchFailure factually inaccurate]] (like Gene saying he would “Darth Maul this and come back in a shitty video game”). The DVD Commentary revealed that these two lines, among others, were actually voice actor improv.
