* TearJerker: You can't help but feel for Captain Mitchell who was forced to [[SadisticChoice allow his son to be taken by demons or let him fall to his death]]. He never forgave himself for what happened.

* CompleteMonster: [[BigBad Queen Bansheera]] is the [[GodSaveUsFromTheQueen queen of the demons]] and by far the worst of their ilk. Bansheera desires to rule the world and recreate her castle and has no care for any of her minions, being one of the [[BadBoss worst bosses]] in the entire franchise. To return to power she callously absorbs her loyal minion Vypra for [[YouHaveFailedMe failing her]]. She later forces her general Diabolico to open fire on his enemies without caring that her most loyal minion Loki, whose only desire has ever been to serve her, is caught in the blast and dies. When he goes against her, Diabolico has his mind forcibly erased to serve as her unwilling pawn. She also shows little regard for her own son Olympius and ordered him abandoned to his fate while laughing. She later has him forced to fight alongside a brainwashed Diabolico, and his death [[LackOfEmpathy provokes no feeling in her whatsoever]]. In the finale, Bansheera attempts to open a gateway to the demon realm allowing all demon-kind to pour out and overwhelm humanity, even attempting to drag Carter Grayson down to the demon realm with her after she fails. Bansheera is one of ''Power Rangers'''s cruelest villains and does her evil for her own selfish ambitions.

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: Dana is the Captain's daughter, she is the most knowledgeable of Lightspeed of the 5 Rangers. She is not chosen to be leader. Never once does the show actually address this issue or Dana feeling resentment or hurt. Mind you, ''Series/PowerRangersWildForce'' and ''Series/PowerRangersSPD'' would make the "Ranger more equipped to be leader, but isn't" into character plot points.

* SurprisinglySimilarStories: The 2005 movie "Film/{{Stealth}}" was the bigger version of the "Cyborg Rangers" episode of this season. Robots are improved humans until they get hit by lightning and go nuts and the humans can't be improved on after all.

* EnsembleDarkhorse: Ryan. While it's per the course with TheSixthRanger, he is special in that he is the first Ranger to not have a pre-existing Sentai counterpart. He was so popular, that he was near the finals in a Ranger popularity poll, there was a demand for a Titanium [[PowerRangersMegaforce Ranger Key]], and some have complained that he wasn't going to be in ''Super Megaforce.'' [[note]]Rhett Fisher, Ryan's actor, ''was'' invited at first, but was later uninvited for budget reasons.[[/note]]

Diabolico has his mind forcibly erased to serve as her pawn. Her own son, Olympius fares little better, and Bansheera once ordered him abandoned to his fate while laughing. He is forced to fight alongside a brainwashed Diabolico, and his death provokes no feeling in her whatsoever. In addition, Bansheera attempts to open a gateway to the demon realm, allowing all demon-kind to pour out and overwhelm humanity.

** Considering the Rangers function as a milita, the shoot first mentality made sense.

** A major villain from a previous series is revived for a crossover and teams up with a villain exclusively created for that crossover, and when they come back, they are wearing a mask. Am I talking about [[Series/PowerRangersLostGalaxy Trakeena]] in ''Trakeena's Revenge'' teaming up with Triskill, or [[Series/KamenRiderGaim Ryoma Sengoku]] in ''[[Series/KamenRiderDrive Movie War Full Throttle]]'' teaming up with Megahex?

** Creator/NeilKaplan voiced Diabolico here, and frequently had to deal with giant robots. The next year, he [[Anime/TransformersRobotsInDisguise became one]], and in 2015 [[WesternAnimation/VoltronLegendaryDefender went right back to being a villain who hates giant robots]] (although Zarkon is more like Bansheera compared to Diabolico.

* WhatAnIdiot: The receptionist from the CrossOver episode who told a little girl "there's no such thing as monsters". As [[ATopTheFourthWall Linkara]] says, she is the dumbest person in the history of the entire franchise.

* AlasPoorVillain: Loki being blasted to death by an unwilling Diabolico (the Queen having taken control of his body). With his dying words, Loki laments how all he wanted to do was serve his Queen, and how while he wasn't the smartest, he was more loyal than most- and how now it seemed like it was just a big waste. He tells Diabolico in his dying breaths that it's not too late for him either. And when Diabolico ''does'' fight back, he just gets brainwashed and turned into a super demon for the Rangers to battle. [[spoiler: He makes up for it in the end, however- helping Carter to get out of the Tomb of Forever and helping to seal it for good- screwing over Bansheera in the process.]]

* EpilepticTrees: A common theory way, WAY back was that Captain Mitchell (whose first name is William) was actually a futuristic Billy from seasons 1-4. {{Jossed}} when ''Time Force'' confirmed that it took place in 2001, and Lightspeed in 2000. Billy didn't have time to have an eighteen-year-old daughter. ([[Series/PowerRangersDinoThunder Not that the lack of time]] [[Series/PowerRangersSamurai has stopped other series...]])

* FunnyAneurysmMoment: Nearly every human-sized monster gets blown up, and Carter says "Mission Accomplished", except that Jinxer always brings them back to life and megazord-sized. Saying "Mission Accomplished" except the threat is far from over, and has actually gotten worse? Seems like President Bush's infamous 2003 moment, but ''Lightspeed Rescue'' aired in 2000.

* MoralEventHorizon: Queen Bansheera does truly horrible things. She crosses the line when Olympius, her son, ends up stuck in the local equivalent of Hell; she opts to ''leave him there'' for being useless enough to get stuck there in the first place, and seems to take perverse pleasure in doing it, too.

** If you've watched the source material, any episode that suggests Carter and Dana are interested in one another, since their sentai counterparts are '''siblings'''[[note]]unlike ''Series/PowerRangersMegaforce'', where something similar happened, this would have happened regardless of which rangers Carter and Dana were, since in ''GoGoV'', the entire team was a family[[/note]].
