* CatharsisFactor: Creator/RobertRodriguez eventually revealed that he cast Creator/RoseMcGowan as the lead - and an ActionGirl at that - is because she told him she'd been blacklisted by the Weinsteins. He then wrote the character played by Creator/QuentinTarantino as a TakeThat to Harvey Weinstein - so Cherry fighting off the rapist and kicking ass has become very cathartic once Rose went public about her sexual abuse in Hollywood.

* HarsherInHindsight:
** Some of the stunts Cherry pulls off can be hard to watch with the knowledge that Creator/RoseMcGowan severely injured herself while filming.
** Creator/JoshBrolin playing an abusive husband to Creator/MarleyShelton's character is this once you remember the real-life domestic violence with his then-wife Creator/DianeLane.

** Dakota flirting with Cherry. Marley Shelton would later star in ''Film/Scream4'' where her character flirts with Dewey - who is the brother of Creator/RoseMcGowan's character.
** In an episode of ''{{Series/Charmed|1998}}'' Paige (played by Rose [=McGowan=]) sighs that she can't dream about someone "like Creator/QuentinTarantino". In her first major project after the show ended, here she ''kills'' Tarantino. As she was filming parts of ''Grindhouse'' in between the final season of the show, it's possible it was written in as a direct ShoutOut.

** Creator/BruceWillis's character kills Osama Bin Laden by shooting him in the head. Four years later, he'd be killed in real life the exact same way (but not by Bruce Willis).

* NarmCharm: Dakota's routine with the needles. Robert Rodriguez claimed this was inspired by a real anesthetist he saw once. It's so bizarre and yet so cool.
* OneSceneWonder: Bruce Willis of course! Playing an AdvertisedExtra who is promoted as though he's the main character, he's still memorable in his two short scenes.
* ToughActToFollow: Having ''Planet Terror'' open ''Grindhouse'' has made fans feel this way. As it's so action packed and full of {{Gorn}}, ''Film/DeathProof'''s slow pace is harder to live up to. Some fans prefer to watch ''Death Proof'' first; it helps that it chronologically takes place before ''Planet Terror''.
