* CrossesTheLineTwice: Words cannot describe.
** The manga chapters are ''[[UpToEleven arguably even worse]]''.
* CultClassic: The show never gained the same kind of mainstream popularity as its [[Anime/TengenToppaGurrenLagann predecessor]] and [[Anime/KillLaKill successor]], but it's still talked about in many circles to this day.

* CultClassic: The show never gained the same kind of mainstream popularity as Compared to its [[Anime/TengenToppaGurrenLagann predecessor]] and [[Anime/KillLaKill successor]], but it's which have become two of the most popular anime of their respective decades, ''Panty & Stocking'' certainly seems underrated. However, its fanbase, however small it may be, is still talked about in many circles devoted to this day.it, and is still holding on to the prospect of a second season.

** As of [[GainaxEnding the last 20 seconds of the show]], [[spoiler:Stocking]] has fallen into this.

* NauseaFuel: In "The Buzz of the Beehive", it's implied that Panty does not know what a condom is. You have to wonder, with as much sex as she has on a daily basis (and her seemingly non-existent standards) that she would be a veritable cesspool of venereal disease... however, according to WordOfGod, "angels don't get fat, grow old or get sick". If the girls don't return to Heaven they'll [[BroughtDownToNormal become humans]] and be unable to maintain their lifestyles without some serious side-effects, which explains their motivations.

to:

* NauseaFuel: MoralEventHorizon: Panty and Stocking do some pretty reprehensible things, like leaving people to die in a zombie apocalypse to save their own skins or [[spoiler:letting Brief awaken an EldritchAbomination because he wasn't attractive at the time]], but the [[spoiler:latter]] definitely crosses it when [[spoiler:she kills Panty in order to reveal her true allegiance]].

* SuperlativeDubbing: The dub is almost unanimously considered to be superior to the subbed version, a rarity among anime fans.

* UncannyValley: "Vomiting Point" features character designs that are... creepy to say the least. They are, of course, interestingly similar to the style of ''Anime/{{Tekkonkinkreet}}''.

* WTFCastingAgency: More WTF Dubbing Company, of all the companies to get the series, no one expected ''Funimantion'' to grab the reigns since this isn't really the type of show they would go for un-ironiclly (''Shin-chan'' was more a GagDub in a effort to sell the series, in Japan it's aimed more toward kids). But come 2011, they shocked many of their fans with the announcement of gaining the license. Some dug it, others had hoped they would bring in more media known [=VAs=] who worked on Western Cartoons like Tara Strong or Tom Kane to go with the western animation vibe the show was going for. But overall it's a pretty solid dub.

* AllAdultAnimationIsSouthPark: Possibly the only example of this trope done, for better or worse, ''on purpose''! Most countries actually consider it [[UpToEleven even more adult than South Park itself]].

* FunnyAneurysmMoment: The series is disturbingly similar to ''Anime/PuellaMagiMadokaMagica'', which unfortunately ''does'' take itself seriously. Both series focus on hunting supernatural creatures (Ghosts/Witches) created by [[spoiler:human emotions (Ironic reflections of one's terrible life/crossing the DespairEventHorizon)]] that give out supernatural items (Heaven Coins/Grief Seeds). The protagonists are {{Antihero}}es, with the only morally white one (Brief/Madoka) being utterly useless [[spoiler:despite holding immense power (Brief's penis/Madoka being the focus of Homura's wish)]]. The FinalBoss [[spoiler:is an EldritchAbomination with the power to destroy the world (Corset/Walpurgis Night)]]. Finally, the {{Deuteragonist}} is a DarkIsNotEvil AntiHero [[spoiler:who "becomes" a demon]] (Stocking/Homura). There's also the fact that ''PMMM'' aired ''two weeks'' after ''PSG'' ended.
* GatewaySeries: The show can easily be credited for the founding of Studio Trigger.

* LoveItOrHateIt: The show has an excellent artstyle, top notch animation and spectacular fight scenes, but the crude humor, excessive swearing, and {{Jerkass}} characters make it divisive.
