** Volcarona does have two aspects that mitigate their level just a bit. First, they do tend to sit still for a second or two (though not always in places that are exactly ''convenient'' for you to throw something). Second is that they, unlike many of the other bosses, tend to need only ONE Illumina orb to get the effect... but getting some of the better photos do require you getting ''both'' active to compensate.

** Lugia's 4-star photo is a real pain to get. Lugia's lair is one of those pesky paths that you need to unlock ''every time'' you play through the stage rather than just once, so it takes some setup just to get to the mon in the first place. Then getting it do the 4-star action requires some precisely timed Fluffruit throws, which isn't easy with the floaty underwater physics. The most frustrating part though is that this all takes place towards the end of the level, and if you mess up any part of the convoluted setup, you'll have to restart ''the entire course'' over from the beginning to try again.

79 vs. 71 isn't very dissonant

* CriticalDissonance: Critics have overall given the game good reviews, with a score of 79 on [[https://www.metacritic.com/game/switch/new-pokemon-snap Metacritic.]] However, user reviews on the site are slightly more contentious, with the average score sitting (at the time of this writing) at 7.1/10.[[note]]It was originally at a much lower 5/10, and more evenly split between positive and negative reviews, but large swathes of 0/10 and 10/10 reviews appear to have been removed for possible review bombing/counter-bombing.[[/note]] Fans who gave the game a negative review criticize the game for being [[ItsShortSoItSucks too brief]], [[ItsTheSameNowItSucks too repetitive]], and for having outdated gameplay mechanics that haven't evolved much from the original, while fans who gave it a positive review call it a fun, beautiful, worthy follow-up to the original.

Not Hindsight

* HilariousInHindsight:
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JmXXWjMX9dQ There exists a fan video]] of an extension of the Volcano from the original where the player actually goes inside the volcano. In this game, you actually can enter the volcano unlike the last one.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bhbl7DSyOAs Another fan video by the same creator]] shows what a photo editor would look like in the original game, very similar to Re-Snap. Though there, it's used to cheat higher scores, whereas Re-Snap only lets players edit pictures after they've been scored.

Authors Saving Throw is now Trivia and requires Word Of God or Word Of Saint Paul.

* AuthorsSavingThrow:
** Fans complained that [[ItsShortSoItSucks the original game was too short]], so this game, with its variety of Pokémon and locations, complex interactions, and the new level system, is a lot longer than its Nintendo 64 predecessor.
** For players who were annoyed about submitting photos for a sidequest only to be told that the one they submitted didn't count, the free update adds an icon that indicates that your photo qualifies for the mission before you submit it.
