* {{Anvilicious}}: The constant disclaimers about not playing with explosive, power tools, and fire can make viewers wonder just how thick Discovery thinks they are.
** You have to remember, though, that it's very possible young children are watching the show. Anyways, it's not hard to guess that it's more about avoiding lawsuit liability than anything else.

* AccidentalNightmareFuel: Holy crap. The various myths about being buried alive.
** The tendency for sound effects appropriate to the myth to be played during Heather's commentary didn't help. Throughout her relating buried alive tales were clips of various people screaming terrified "Let me out! Let me out!" or "I'm still alive!".

* HighOctaneNightmareFuel:
** MEATMAN!
** Anything involving torture, with the standout being the Bamboo Torture Myth.
** The high-speed camera also counts, particularly when showing anything biological.
** There are two words guaranteed to make long-time fans cringe: "Chicken Hand".
** Also ''smashing quick-frozen heads'' to see if they would shatter like glass (as shown in ''JasonX''). They brought out their trusty ballistics gel again, used a similar substance for brains...and used ''actual human skulls''. Then for even more added realism, they used ''pigs' heads''.
** Jamie at least had difficulty sleeping the night after they tested the escape methods from a sinking car, noting that it was like watching someone drown right in front of him.
** Likewise, Jamie's time being buried alive...and the coffin started buckling.

* NeverLiveItDown: The show sometimes digs up old clips of Adam's previous acting work when he was a child.
** Tory's little mishap where he faceplanted while riding the bicycle also counts.
** Most people associate the show with StuffBlowingUp.
*** ... But they're not trying to live down the explosions - they embrace them.
* OlderThanTheyThink: Adam Savage's [[MemeticMutation memetic quote]] regarding substitution of reality actually comes from the film ''Ragewar''.
* UnpleasableFanbase: Actually PlayedForLaughs. Whenever the team revisits a myth, they joke that the fans are hounding them about how they did it wrong or didn't test all of the variables. Even during the "You spoof discovery" special, several mythbusters spoofs joked about how the fans were going to complain about how they didn't do it right.

* CrowningMomentOfAwesome: The team (especially Adam) loves it whenever a myth gets confirmed against expectations. As for some specific episodes/myths:
** The Moon Landing Conspiracy Theory episode. Not only did they disprove the conspiracy theorists, the Mythbusters destroyed them.
** The Bullets Fired Up Myth. When they began the myth there was only limited research into the behavior of what happened to bullets when they were fired up. By the time the Mythbusters were done they tripled the amount of data on the subject. Adam even cites this as one of his favorite moments of the show during one of the clip shows.
** The Escape from a Submerged Car Myth. After seeing the episode, a fan used the knowledge he gained from it to save his own life when his car went into a lake.
* Darthwiki/DethroningMomentOfSuck: Several of the episodes in the 2010 season have received heavy criticism including:
** The Stormchasers episode. 60 minutes of Adam and Jamie building a hurricane proof tent. No myths, no build team, just a cross promotion with another show.
** The Green Hornet Special. A 60 minute cross promotion for a movie with Seth Rogan guest staring in the episode. The 'myths' tested were all scenes from the movie.
** The 3rd Archimedes Death Ray episode. Although the episode received heavy criticism for the inclusion of President Obama, the real DMOS came when they spent the episode retesting and rebusting a myth that had already been busted twice before.

* CrowningMomentOfAwesome: The team (especially Adam) loves it whenever a myth gets confirmed against expectations.

* {{Flanderization}}: The show is almost entirely StuffBlowingUp now.

* NightmareFuel: Holy crap. The various myths about being buried alive.

** According to Adam, in the Underwater Car Escape episode, watching Adam up close as he struggled in a vain attempt to escape a sinking car filling with water was a horrifying enough image to Jamie that he couldn't sleep that night.

* NauseaFuel: Played straight in-show. Adam is very prone to seasickness, and just about every episode that's had him on a boat has shown him throwing up. He even puked in the rig during the "killer whirlpool" episode. Grant has also gotten sick in a few episodes, thanks to the motion sickness test chair. And the Earwax Candle. The entire Build Team was gagging, and Grant has [[http://twitter.com/MythBusters/statuses/7143412809 confirmed it as his most disgusting myth to date.]]

* {{Squick}}: Several myth tests involving animal parts and/or decomposing animals, both for the viewers and for the Mythbusters (especially Kari). Also, the show's got a bad tendency to repeatedly show the cast getting hurt; in a recent test, Tory struck his shin on a window ledge hard enough to require several stitches, and the impact and his bloodstained jeans were shown over and over again. Crossed over into CrowningMomentOfFunny in an episode where Grant and Troy took a [[IfYouKnowWhatIMean long, fleshy object]] out of its container and began to examine it.
