Come "Mirror Magic" however, and any likable traits to her character seem to be intentionally ignored in favor of her disrespecting everyone she comes across, slacking off, providing TheWorfEffect on everyone who isn't named "Starlight Glimmer", as well as an absolutely anti-climactic "fight scene", and being EasilyForgiven after the fact. The {{Novelization}}, however, seems to have addressed this.

This would have been a prime chance to bring back Midnight, Sunset's demon form, and/or an evil version of Starlight, for a direct confrontation with their pasts as manifestations of the mirror's powers. Instead Juniper's mirror just acted to get the seven TrappedByMountainLions with nothing going on with them until the mirror was damaged.

This is particularly controversial as it meant Sunny Flare, a FlatCharacter in her original appearance, gets to appear and is given no new depth over her debut compared to Indigo, who does have a more complex personality.

Her OneWingedAngel form isn't intimidating or interesting, simply being a giant version of herself.

* AntiClimax: Juniper Montage imprisons and gains the power of the Rainbooms...just so that she can [[EvilIsBigger grow a little taller]], [[FashionVictimVillain gain an overly tacky outfit]], and scare some kids. And then she's easily talked into giving it all up in a matter of minutes.

This isn't helped by the fact that when Canter Zoom states that she's too young to play the role and has no acting experience, Juniper acknowledges this with a meek "I know".

* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: One of many complaints about Juniper Montage in ''Mirror Magic'' is that she's a major jerk even before her corruption. Her only motivation is that [[IJustWantToBeLoved she wants to be adored]], she actively talks back to her boss, she intentionally slacks off (and admits it outright), she [[WouldHurtAChild attempts to make a mother and child "go away" with the mirror]], and all she gets after trapping the first Humane 6 is a brief "OhCrap" expression before she's finally corrupted. She's supposed to be our [[DefeatMeansFriendship to-be-redeemed villain]] of the hour, by the way. Not so much in the {{Novelization}}, though, where she gets an AdaptationalAngstUpgrade that arguably makes her more of a legitimate JerkassWoobie.
